Develop your research and analytical skills. You’ll work with classmates to examine existing literature and theories for class deliverables, which will often include your own original research.

Foundational Management Coursework

Early in your doctoral program, you will complete foundational coursework in management and other fields. Many of these will focus on the research process and prepare you for your dissertation.

Advanced Coursework in Your Concentration Area

As you progress in the PhD in Management program, you’ll take electives and advanced courses that align with your research area of interest; these classes can be in the Johnson School and across Cornell.

Your Dissertation: Creating Original Research

During the final part of the program, you begin work on your dissertation—the culmination of your original research. You choose the topic of research in conjunction with your committee.

You’ll find more high-tech learning spaces just off campus at the Breazzano Family Center for Business Education. For the Texas A&M/University of Georgia Rankings of management department productivity, we were number 1 outright in 2019 & 2020 and top 10 in each of the last 5-years. When adjusted for faculty size, we are the 2nd most productive department over the last 5-years. In the University of Colorado Per Capita Rankings of Management Departments, we rank 3rd in North America and 4th globally. In short, we are one of the most productive groups in the field.

Founded in 1785 as the nation’s first public university, University of Georgia is ranked 20th in the U.S. News Top Public Schools ranking . It is considered one of the Public Ivies, alongside institutions like the University of California-Berkeley, the University of Michigan, the University of North Carolina, the University of Virginia, and the University of Texas. Organizational Behavior

Organizational Behavior research focuses on understanding employee attitudes, emotions, and behaviors, in an effort to improve the work experience. This research draws largely from industrial, organizational, and social psychology.

Assuming the passing of comprehensive exams, acceptable departmental evaluations, and the approval of the Associate Dean, PhD students are put on a five-year track. Year 3 is then focused on continuing to make progress on existing research projects while beginning lead-authored work.

Year 4 is focused on existing research projects and the Dissertation Proposal.

Year 5 is focused on interviews in the academic job market and completion of the final Dissertation Defense.

Two Florida business schools now ranked among top 70 nationwide, U.S. News says

Florida’s two top business schools now rank among the 70 best in the United States, according to a new ranking by U.S. News and World Report.

Joining UF in the top 70 was the University of Miami, which surged 13 points to a four-way tie for 62nd.

One other Florida business school made it into the top 100: the University of South Florida (in a tie for 87 th with the University of Denver).

U.S. News based its rankings on the employment rates and starting salaries of recent graduates, student test scores and assessments of the schools by recruiters and academic administrators.
