Our Methodology

We used our research methodology to analyze Wix’s pricing and recent plan changes, allowing us to determine whether Wix is good value for money.

Written and researched by:

Wix is our top-rated website builder in our research, meaning we’ve put it to the test and found it to be the best website builder overall! But how much does it cost? More importantly, is it good value for money?

Wix offers four premium plans, which give users a range of options to choose from depending on their needs, from online selling to enterprise businesses. The prices range from $17 per month (for the Light plan) to $159 per month (for the Business Elite plan) when billed annually. There is also the custom-priced Enterprise plan . Wix stands out in our research because it offers the best range of features available, like an easy-to-use editor, contact forms, and a professional blogging platform. This makes it ideal for personal websites and projects.

You can get 10% off all Wix’s plans using the code “ TAKE10 ” at the checkout. There’s also a free plan you can use indefinitely – but there are a few limitations.

Wix Pricing Plans

  • Free plan: – $0/month – For those who want to try Wix
  • Light plan: – $17/month – For portfolios and personal sites
  • Core plan: – $29/month – For small online stores and growing businesses
  • Business: – $36/month – For established businesses
  • Business Elite: – $159/month – For large businesses with advanced needs
  • Enterprise: – Custom pricing – For global brands and industry titans

How Much Does Wix Cost?

Four Wix website builder price plans

Across its four premium plans, Wix costs between $17 per month (billed annually) and $159 per month (billed annually). The cheapest plan, the Light plan , is great for those seeking a personal website or a professional portfolio.

If you want Wix ecommerce features, you’ll have to skip the Light plan and move to either the Core, Business, or Business Elite plans . With these plans, you’ll be able to sell up to 50,000 products and you’ll get access to shipping capabilities and advanced analytics.

The Enterprise plan is only for large business franchises and requires a call with the Wix sales team, as the price will be custom to what you want to achieve. However, thanks to our long-standing research in the industry, we can make a conservative estimate of around $5,000-$25,000 per year (billed annually).

What’s the difference between paying monthly and annually?

For example, Wix lists the Light plan as $17 per month when billed annually, meaning you’ll be paying for 12 months of use in advance. At checkout, you’ll have to pay $204.

Paying monthly means the subscription gets paid each month, much like Netflix or Spotify. Wix entices its users to pay annually by offering a reduced monthly fee.

Whichever payment option you choose will depend on your financial situation. If you don’t have the money for the annual payment immediately or don’t see yourself having the website live for over a year, then the monthly plan is a better option. However, we recommend the annual prices as we believe they are a better representation of the value for money of the builder.

Is The Free Plan Really Free?

Yes! There is zero cost involved with building and publishing a website on Wix . Simply go to Wix, put in your email address and you can start building and editing your website with Wix’s fantastic features for $0 (without any credit card details)! Better yet, there’s no time limit, meaning that the Wix website is now yours forever — for free.

However, Wix’s free plan only comes with 500MB of storage, which is barely enough if you plan to upload videos or high-quality images directly to your site. Other limitations can only be solved by upgrading, such as:

  • You can’t use your own domain name
  • You’ll have Wix ads displayed on your site
  • You can’t sell online
  • You only get limited features – for example, you’ll have no access to Google Analytics which means you won’t be able to track your website’s performance with this tool
  • You receive basic customer support – priority support is only available on premium plans so you might be left stranded if you need a helping hand

Wix ad displayed on demo Wix website for Lucy's Cupcakes

So, do we recommend Wix’s free plan? Well, sort of – the free plan is really only suitable for playing around with and testing. The Wix domain and banner ads give any site an unprofessional look and feel. If you’re serious about your site, then picking a paid plan is a much smarter choice. It is worth highlighting that you can always build your site on the free plan and then upgrade.

Is There a Free Trial?

As an alternative to Wix’s free plan, you can opt for a 14-day free trial of one of Wix’s premium plans. This is much better suited for those who may want access to Wix’s premium features, like ecommerce tools or increased storage – plus, there are no ads or other limitations (you still won’t be able to accept payments until you are on a paid-for plan).

The free trial will require you to enter payment details to kick things off.

Are There Any Discounts?

Wix is currently offering 10% off all its pricing plans if you use code TAKE10 at checkout. This deal is a great way to get full access to Wix at a cheaper price than usual.

Take a look at the table below and see how much you could save when using the discount.

Additionally, Wix for Students offers 50% off its plans if you go to Wix or the StudentBeans website. This is a fantastic deal to get the best website-building experience for an affordable price. You’ll need to have a recognized student I.D. to apply.

Is Wix Good Value for Money?

It depends . In our overall website builder ranking, Wix scores 3.7 out of 5 for value for money, coming in at a joint 4th place. While its plans can be expensive, there are very few builders that will offer a free plan with no time limit and an amazing depth of creativity and features.

Also, these features get rolled out with such high quality and at such a fast pace that other builders can barely keep up. In just a year, Wix SEO secured integrations with Google Analytics, Semrush, and Microsoft Clarity, becoming an absolute powerhouse.

But as we mentioned, the Wix free plan comes with a lot of limitations that almost force users to upgrade eventually. The Light plan is Wix’s cheapest, starting at $17 per month, but that plan comes with zero ecommerce capabilities, limited access to Wix features (no site analytics, site chat, or calendar app), and only 2GB of storage. For the best value for money, we recommend users start with the Core plan at $29 per month, which gives you access to a fuller range of essential website-building features, like ecommerce, events booking, and analytics.

How Does Wix Compare to Other Competitors?

A graph of five website builders showing a bar for the cheapest pricing plan in blue and a purple bar for the best value pricing plan next to it

As you can see from the graph, Wix is an outlier among other website builders due to its cheapest plan not being its best value for money. Comparing Wix vs Squarespace’s cheapest plan, Squarespace’s Personal plan starts at at a similar price, $16 per month. Feature-wise, it is almost on par with Wix’s Core plan ($29 per month).

The Light plan is just a slightly upgraded version of Wix’s free plan. For $17 per month, that is quite a dent in a budget, especially when considering the starting price of GoDaddy ($10.99 per month) and Hostinger ($2.99 per month).

However, the Core plan is everything you’d want and more from Wix, coming with all the features, integrations, and ecommerce capabilities. If you want to start an online business or professional website, then the Core plan will deliver on its price tag – the price is a little higher than other competitors, but our research shows that the value it brings more than compensates for it.

Light Plan: $17 per Month – For Portfolios and Personal Sites

  • Monthly price: $24 per month
  • Annual price: $17 per month

✔️ 2GB of storage

✔️ Free domain for 1 year

✔️ Removes ads from the site

❌ Limited amount of features

❌ No ecommerce capabilities (you can’t sell online)

❌ No access to website analytics, making it harder to track your site’s performance and engage with your audience

The Light plan is Wix’s cheapest plan. Besides the removal of ads, we found there’s not much difference between it and the free plan. The plan lacks many of the great features Wix is known for, like:

  • No ticket or event management
  • No restaurant management
  • No hotel management
  • No ecommerce

For $17 per month, you get the removal of ads, a free custom domain (for a year), and some basic marketing features. A disappointing amount for any potential new businesses, but ideal for small and informational websites like blogs, portfolios, and resumes.

With no ads and your own domain, your site gains some legitimacy. The Light plan gives you access to automated emails and lead-generation forms, making it good for simple promotion.

Three Wix template results in the template library for

This is all on top of the amazing Wix templates and editor you get to build your site in. Wix gains our highest score for templates in our research, with 4.3 out of 5. So even with limited features, your site will still look stunning.

Core Plan: $29 per Month – For Small Online Stores and Growing Businesses

  • Monthly price: $36 per month
  • Annual price: $29 per month

✔️ 50GB of storage

✔️ Access to a range of features, including ticketing and WixFit

✔️ Unlock ecommerce features, including abandoned cart recovery, discounts, and selling via socials

❌ Limited sales tools – can’t add multiple currencies or product reviews

The Core plan is Wix’s best value-for-money plan and our recommended starting point for anyone choosing Wix as a website builder. It includes ecommerce features – finally letting you sell on the platform – and it also comes with a host of specialist features for certain industries.

We can’t list them ALL here, but a few these are are our choice favorites:

  • 5 collaborators
  • Basic site analytics to monitor traffic and performance
  • Basic ecommerce tools – sell up to 50,000 products, Wix Payments , and sell on marketplaces/social channels
  • Wix dropshipping – up to 25 products by Modalyst
  • No transaction fees
  • Wix Hotel , Restaurant, and Fit platforms for each respective industry
  • Wix Bookings and Event management for scheduling and organizing appointments and in-person events
  • Stream music and videos and sell your original artwork

On top of this, you will get everything from the Light plan, plus explore even more features in the easy-to-use editor.

With all these features, the Core plan is perfect for those starting an online business or taking an existing business online. There is no app store required or extra fees incurred for specific industry tools and features (unlike Shopify or Squarespace). Plus, Wix has over 900 templates that will make sure you have a handy framework when designing it as they cover more industries than you can imagine !

While the Core plan’s features certainly impress, many of them are still offered in a ‘basic’ form – most evidently, the ecommerce tools. Important features like product reviews, accepting multiple currencies, and advanced shipping options are only available on the Business plan.

The Core plan is a decent choice if your website is in the early stages of growth, but once sales pick up it may be time to upgrade once again.

Business Plan: $36 per Month – For Established Businesses

  • Monthly price: $43 per month
  • Annual price: $36 per month

✔️ 100GB of storage

✔️ Unlock advanced shipping and product reviews for your store

✔️ Add multiple currencies and calculate sales tax automatically

❌ No access to premium customer service

❌ Stuck with the same basic analytics as the cheaper Wix plans

Once your store is getting steady sales, advanced tools are needed to keep up with demand. Enter the Business plan, the first of three ecommerce-dedicated plans by Wix.

You get all the aforementioned features that come with the Core plan, plus some brand new features designed primarily for selling online, such as:

  • Automated sales tax on 100 transactions per month
  • 1,000 product reviews provided by KudoBuzz
  • Unlimited ‘Back in Stock’ notifications
  • Advanced shipping plus 250 products available for dropshipping by Modalyst
  • Multiple currencies

These features are surely welcome for any online business wanting to scale up. In our research, Wix came joint second for sales features with 4.2 out of 5 . We found that the Business plan is considerably cheaper when compared with the nearest competition. It costs only $36 per month for Wix’s plan vs Shopify’s $79 per month for a similar plan .

A lot of the features introduced on the Core plan have been upgraded too, giving you 10 collaborators and the ability to assign roles, plus access to external databases. This makes it easier than ever to manage employees. However, not every feature has received this treatment, and even on the Business plan, you’ll still receive the same basic analytics and Wix customer service as those on the Light plan .

Business Elite Plan: $159 per Month – For Large Businesses with Advanced Needs

  • Monthly price: $172 per month
  • Annual price: $159 per month

✔️ Unlimited storage space for larger businesses

✔️ Advanced marketing and ecommerce tools like a loyalty program

✔️ Priority customer support

❌ Very expensive plan

❌ Not a beginner-friendly option

Just from the price alone, you can probably guess that the Business Elite plan is a different beast altogether. If you’re looking for the tippy-top of what Wix can offer your average online business owner, the Business Elite plan takes all the previously mentioned features and turns them to 11 , including:

  • Unlimited storage space
  • 15 collaborators, which is helpful for large businesses to delegate work
  • Advanced features, including marketing tools, analytics, and ecommerce
  • Priority VIP phone support so you can skip the queue
  • Retain customers with loyalty programs to share discounts, coupons, and rewards
  • Collect up to 3,000 product reviews to help improve customer trust
  • Sell unlimited products with Modalyst dropshipping

The biggest mark against this plan is price. We’d only recommend the Business Elite to thriving online businesses that need the support and can easily foot the bill – or established brick-and-mortar stores wanting to make a transition online . Either way, we don’t think this plan is good for beginners, and reiterate that the Core plan is the best value for your money .

That being said, for a high-end ecommerce plan, the Business Elite plan is cheaper than its competitors, with Advanced Shopify costing $299 per month (billed annually). If you are looking to make a switch from Shopify, the Business Elite certainly makes a good alternative, but we’d recommend all potential users try it out first with the 14-day free trial, as it’s a big commitment to make.

Enterprise Plan: Custom Pricing – For Global Brands and Industry Titans

✔️ Face no limitations when scaling your business

✔️ Dedicated account manager to help you succeed

❌ Custom plan means you’ll only know what your total is once you are given a quote that covers all your needs

❌ Only suitable for industry-leading businesses

This plan is not meant for your average Joe. Used by the likes of Kroger, Clarins, and Hello Fresh, Wix Enterprise is intended to be used by big brands and industry leaders.

You get everything on the Business Elite plan, plus the unique feature of having a dedicated account manager to help you run your business. This includes a custom, super-charged Wix editor with developer-built component blocks and a global infrastructure of networks to support you – all managed from a multi-site dashboard.

We know the majority of our readers are small-to-medium-sized businesses, but your business could one day get successful enough to need an enterprise plan, so it’s good to know. Since the pricing is custom, we can’t comment on the exact pricing Wix offers, but our research estimates it at around $5,000 – $25,000 per year, depending on size.

Does Wix Have Additional Fees?

Wix has some additional fees  – but all of them can be avoided. A caveat to this is if you are selling online, paying for the processing fees is impossible to avoid with Wix.

Wix Auto-Renewal

If you don’t want your plan to auto-renew, you can simply turn it off in your settings. Here’s how:

  • Go to “Billing and Payments” in your Wix account
  • Click “Plan Actions”
  • Click “Cancel Now”

Don’t worry – clicking “Cancel Now” doesn’t actually cancel your plan then and there. Instead, it means your plan won’t automatically renew the next time your subscription expires.

Wix Domain Name

Wix domains are free for the first year. After this, it will cost between $14.95 – $24.85 per year , depending on how specialized they are.

If you don’t pay for your domain, then someone else can register that domain name and use it for themselves. Your domain name’s renewal happens automatically so that you don’t lose your domain – but you can cancel the auto-renewal at any time in your settings.

Custom Email Address

Wix offers a Google Suite email address through its dashboard for $6 per month (billed annually) and $6.50 if you choose monthly billing.

Most of Wix’s features are built-in, but it does offer an app store for extra functionalities. Wix has +500 apps – of which 24 are free to use.

The rest will cost a monthly fee between $3-$20 per month . This will be heavily dependent on your website’s needs, so do some research on what you may want before building.

Screenshot of Wix's app market and its marketing apps.

Wix Payments Processing Fee

Wix charges a standard 2.9% + $0.30 on each transaction for users using Credit/Debit Cards, Google Pay, and Apple Pay.

If you are using a physical Wix Payments POS, then you will be charged 2.6% for cards and 2.6% + $0.20 for Tap to Pay on mobile .

Each of these fees differs depending on the region you’re in. We’ve shown the US rates, but if you are in a different region, we suggest you check out Wix’s service fees breakdown .

Processing fees are not included on returns either.

How We Test

We put Wix through hours of testing to determine whether it’s good value for money. Our research process looks at a variety of categories, including website features and ease of use, but when it comes to price, we analyze a few key areas.

Every website builder has recently increased its pricing, so our algorithm has been adjusted to reflect this change. Beyond reviewing Wix’s restructuring of its plans, we specifically look at whether Wix has a free trial or free plan (it has both), the average pricing plan, and the minimum standard of features you get for the lowest price you pay.

Summary of Wix Pricing Plans

Wix is our best-rated website builder in our research and offers four premium plans – plus a free plan and an enterprise plan. Let’s recap their prices:

  • Free plan: $0 per month – For those who want to try Wix
  • Light plan: $17 per month – For portfolios and personal sites
  • Core plan: $29 per month – For small online stores and growing businesses
  • Business plan: $36 per month – For established businesses
  • Business Elite plan: $159 per month – For large businesses with advanced needs
  • Enterprise plan: Custom pricing – For global brands and industry titans

Of these plans, the best value for money is the Core plan for $29 per month (billed annually). While it is a little more expensive than Squarespace or GoDaddy, those builders can’t compete with the amount of features and support you get with the Core plan.

If you have a small online store or a growing business, the value of the Core plan is worth its higher price tag. Wix provides all the tools you need to succeed off the bat. All that is left is the key ingredient: you!

Wix Pricing 2024: How Much Does a Wix Website Really Cost?

Our content is funded in part by commercial partnerships, at no extra cost to you and without impact to our editorial impartiality. Click to Learn More

Wix is a top-tier website builder that prides itself on its slick user experience and excellent value packages. Wix made a big change to its pricing model in July 2023, doing away with some of its options in favor of a more streamlined offering of only four paid plans. Fortunately, the website builder still has a free plan , as well as a 14-day free trial for paid plans.

If you’re interested in using Wix in 2024, we’re here to help dissect Wix’s pricing plans, fees, upfront costs and hidden charges, as well as looking at how much websites cost with other builders.

  • Wix Pricing: Our Verdict

Wix has a total of four pricing plans ranging from $16 per month to $159 per month, depending on the plan that you choose.

If you’re interested in building a standard website, the Light plan is a great place to start at $16 per month — but if you’re interested in building an ecommerce platform, you’ll need to go with the Core plan from $29 per month , which unlocks the ecommerce features you need to build an online store.

Our recommendations:

  • If you want to test the features, or create a website for personal use only   – Free plan
  • If you want to create a resume website, portfolio, or blog – Light plan ($16 per month)
  • If you want to create an online store for the first time – Core  plan ($29 per month)
  • If you want to expand your existing offline and ecommerce sales   – Business plan ($36 per month)
  • If you need advanced reporting, ecommerce, and marketing features – Business Elite plan ($159 per month)

Wix Pricing: What You Should Know

Wix’s pricing structure is fairly typical for a website builder, but here are some factors to note before you commit to a plan.

Annual pricing

All Wix pricing is displayed annually — which is a little sneaky if you’re not ready to go all in right away — but, in comparison to other website builders out there, it is good value for money. All premium plans come with a 14-day free trial, if you do change your mind.

Wix’s contracts are not the easiest to get out of — we found there were quite a few clauses to keep in mind, so if you’re interested in trying a Wix package for free, you’re better off signing up for Wix’s free plan , initially. This is a great way to see how Wix’s website builder works in practice. It’s pretty easy to upgrade and switch over to a premium platform of your choosing.

With annual billing, all of Wix’s premium plans include a year’s free domain hosting — giving you full control over your branding.

What’s included with Wix?

Wix offers four paid plans , as well as an Enterprise plan tailored to meet large businesses’ specific needs with no publicly available pricing.

Wix’s Light, Core, Business, and Business Elite plans all include 24/7 customer support, SEO, storage, hosting and your own dedicated domain. With Wix’s premium plans you can take advantage of its extensive feature-rich catalog, intuitive drag-and-drop editor and a choice over 800 customizable templates, ad-free. You’ll also have access to Wix ADI which uses artificial intelligence to help you build a basic, tailor-made website for you needs.

According to our extensive research, Wix continues to be the best website builder available. Between the extensive feature list, the reasonable prices, and the great templates, you'll be able to get a well-designed, functional website live easily and effectively. Plus, it offers advanced business features like CRM, making Wix an incredible value on top of a powerful website building platform.

Don't miss out - Wix offers regular deals and discounts

wix business plan cost

Wix pricing is fairly straightforward with four plans — Light, Core, Business, and Business Elite . Below, we’ll go through what features you get with each of these plans, as well as the pros and cons of each to give you a better idea of what they offer.

Wix Light plan

  • $16 per month, 2 staff accounts
  • Best for beginners and users building simple portfolios and personal sites.

The Light plan is the first Wix plan that we would advise people to use. You’ll get a regular URL, or the ability to connect your site to a domain and URL that you already own. Plus, you’ll get full access to Wix’s excellent roster of website building tools. This means you’ll be able to take advantage of its powerful drag-and-drop editor, excellent website templates, and range of third-party extensions.

The Light plan gives you 2GB storage, plus you’ll also be able to upload up to 30 minutes of HD video to stream and promote your business online and use the platform’s new AI text generator.

You could run a brilliant website with the Light plan, but if you need ecommerce features, you’ll have to upgrade, which is common for website builders at this stage. The Squarespace Personal plan is also $16 per month and similarly does not offer ecommerce functionality.

Learn about some other user-friendly website builders in our guide to the best website builders for beginners .

  • Free domain for 1 year
  • 30 min of video storage
  • 24/7 support
  • No ecommerce functionality
  • No professional logo maker

Wix Core plan

  • $29 per month, 5 staff accounts
  • Users looking to grow their business and make an occasional sale

With the Core plan your website’s storage will be increased to 50GB, giving you more room for videos, photos, and audio. Wix will also allow you to upload up to five hours’ worth of video content.

Wix will also give you one-year free access to its Site Booster app. The Site Booster app will give you the tools and tips you need to improve your site’s SEO, allowing it to appear closer to the top of Google rankings.

The Core plan is a bit of a bump in price over the Light plan, but it unlocks basic ecommerce functionality, allowing you to launch a simple online store to sell up to 50,000 products, which is more than worth it. Be warned, though, our researchers found the ecommerce platform to be a bit overwhelming with all the features and options, but there’s luckily a lot of guidance tips along the way that can guide you through the process, even as a beginner. If you want better ecommerce features like advanced shipping, though, you’ll have to upgrade.

Squarespace, on the other hand allows for fully integrated ecommerce with its plans, although with its $23 per month Business plan, there is a 3% transaction fee. Even GoDaddy, one of the cheapest options in our reserach, has ecommerce functionality exclusively in its $21 per month Commerce plan, so either way, you’re going to be paying a premium to sell products online.

  • 50GB storage for more videos and images
  • One year access to Wix’s site booster
  • Basic ecommerce features
  • No advanced shipping
  • No automated sales tax

Wix’s Core plan is the best place to start for business and professional websites that need an online store

Wix Business plan

  • $36 per month, 10 staff accounts
  • Best for established businesses that take regular sales

The Business plan really starts to unlock functionality for businesses trying to get a fully functional site up and running. You’ll get 100GB for storage and a more robust set of analytics and ecommerce features, like advanced shipping and product reviews.

Even better, if you’re hoping to sell your products internationally, our research found that the Business plan unlocks multiple currencies — five of them, to be specific — so you can really branch out and get your online store running across the world.

The Wix Business plan is a tad more expensive than Squarespace’s comparable plan at $36 per month versus $29 per month, but it does offer abandoned cart recovery, which Squarespace does not.

  • Advanced analytics
  • 100GB storage
  • 10 video hours
  • Up to 5 additional currencies
  • No customized reports
  • No loyalty program

Wix’s Business plan is the best place for robust businesses that plan to grow their ecommerce business

Wix Business Elite plan

  • $159 per month, 15 staff accounts
  • Best for very large businesses with extensive site needs

The Business Elite plan is Wix’s most expensive offering, providing users with unlimited storage and unlimited video hours. What’s more, this plan unlocks a suite of advanced features for ecommerce, marketing, and analytics, so you can really dig in and take advantage of the full suite of Wix functionality.

Perhaps one of the most important parts of the Wix Business Elite plan is that you’ll get priority support response. This means that in the event something goes wrong with your website, you’ll be able to get much faster phone support. This could be essential if you’re running a big, successful business.

This plan is admittedly a big jump in price, particularly compared to competitors (Squarespace’s most expensive plan is only $49 per month). Still, our research found that this plan from Wix is a true unlimited plan, with unlimited storage, video hours, automated sales tax, product reviews, and dropshipping, so it might be worth it depending on your needs.

  • Priority customer care
  • Unlimited storage and video hours
  • Advanced marketing and ecommerce features
  • Far more expensive than other plans
  • Still limits staff accounts

Wix’s Business Elite plan is the perfect package for well-established businesses

Yes, Wix does offer a free forever plan, as well as a 14-day free trial allowing you to test out the premium features before you buy. Here’s an in-depth look at both free options from Wix.

Wix free plan

Wix’s free plan is a great way to get started with the website builder before you make a financial commitment. It allows you to design your website with a wide range of features, as well as get the site live on the internet for your customers to see.

However, there are some substantial limitations on the free plan, as you can imagine. For starters, you’ll be inundated with Wix ads on your page, which won’t exactly look professionals to potential visitors. On top of that, you won’t have a custom domain, which means your site will be virtually invisible when it comes to SEO.

All that to say, the Wix free plan is a good jumping off point, but if you really want your site to get noticed, you’ll likely want to upgrade to a premium plan.

Wix free trial

With Wix’s 14-day free trial , you’ll get access to any Wix premium plan you choose. You’ll be able to build and publish your own website, with all the features you’d find in the premium plan of your choosing. However, you won’t be able to actually accept any payment and will need to upgrade at the end of your trial if you don’t want to risk losing your website.

While Wix’s free trial is good way to test the platform before you buy, but it doesn’t provide enough features to build a professional website.

In short, yes we think Wix offers good value for money. After evaluating the average price of Wix’s plans, as well as the presence of a free plan, we gave it a value for money score of 3.5/5 in our research. There are undoubtedly better options to choose from, however, with Squarespace offering slightly more affordable plans and a better user experience, earning it a value score of 4.2/5 .

In 2023, Wix pricing changed dramatically, reflecting a more comprehensive selection of options, reducing your choices from eight plans — four standard website plans and four ecommerce plans — to only four.

As we outlined in the overview above, Wix now simply has four paid pricing plans (as well as an Enterprise plan with no publicly available pricing) that cater to the majority of website builder needs. The Light plan is now the only plan that does not offer any ecommerce functionality, with the Core, Business, and Business Elite all allowing you to build an online store, with more features for a higher cost.

For users, this just means that you don’t have to navigate between standard and ecommerce-enabled website builders when looking for a Wix plan. They’ve trimmed down the options, providing you with a clearer picture of what you’re signing up for, so you won’t accidentally set yourself up with a plan that doesn’t let you set up an online store.

Does Wix Have Hidden Costs?

Wix pricing follows quite a clear structure, but there are some costs that you should be aware of before taking the plunge. For example, when you upgrade to a Wix premium plan, you’ll get a free domain but only for the first year. To qualify, it’ll also have to be your first Wix purchase. Once your free year is up, you won’t have the opportunity to renew, and will have to start paying for your domain, which will cost you $14.95 per year . Our research suggests having your own domain is definitely worth it in the long run though, as it’ll help search engines find your pages, will include custom email addresses and give your website a professional finish.

Another thing to watch out for is that all of Wix’s plans are set to auto-renew, so it’s important to know what you’re signing up before you take the plunge. You can, however, cancel the auto-renewing subscription if you switch it off in your settings on your Wix dashboard — and you won’t lose access to your account, or your site.

While Wix’s extensive app store can help add a lot of useful extra functionality to your site, some apps will require some extra outlay before you can use them. For example, while you won’t have to pay to add an Instagram feed to your site, some accounting apps will only offer short-term trial periods. Premium apps typically cost less than $10 per month , but some can run up to $20 per month .

If the app is going to help you make money, it will probably be worth paying the extra cost. But if it’s offering an otherwise free service, we’d probably avoid it.

Don’t like the sound of these costly add-ons? Read our guide to the best Wix alternatives to discover other great website builders.

How to Get Wix for Cheaper – Deals and Discounts

Wix is definitely one of the more affordable website builders out there, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t looking for a little savings to keep costs down. After all, small businesses are always in need of some financial help, and getting the best deal can keep you in the fight a bit longer.

Be sure to use the discount code “ TAKE10 ” at checkout, which will get you 10% off most plans . You can get started with Wix for free here now, then use this discount code when you upgrade to a premium plan.

Cost of Wix Email Accounts

Wix provides access to Google Workspace when you sign up for a premium plan. It’ll cost you an extra $6 per month and it will give your business an extra air of professionalism and it’s super easy to get started. It might be cheaper to try and find an alternative solution by going through a custom domain hosting provider, or directly through Google.

Here’s what you have to do:

  • Connect a domain to your website
  • Click on purchase mailbox
  • Pick how many mailboxes you want
  • Choose a subscription and complete your purchase.

While that all sounds delightfully simple, as always, there are some things to bear in mind.

Wix offers its premium email accounts through Gmail. If you like using Gmail, great. If you don’t, it might be worth looking around to see if there’s an alternative. However, this does mean that you get access to the whole of Google Workspace – including Google Drive, Docs, Calendar, and Hangouts – which might make it the perfect package for your office.

Since our last update...

Wix is always adding to the platform, improving the overall experience for users as much as possible. Most recently, Wix announced that it was releasing a conversational AI chat experience aimed at providing customized website builder solutions based on user needs.

“This is the first step to completely automating business management with AI, and opens the door for users to have a unique and personalized experience to set up a business even better and stronger than before.” – Guy Sopher, Head of AI Assistant at Wix

Much like ChatGPT, the AI model from Wix will be able to respond to and even converse with users, providing them with helpful insights on website building and business requirements to make the process as frictionless as possible.

As a website builder, Wix is the best option for the majority of businesses. While it isn’t the cheapest, it’s an easy to use, feature-heavy powerhouse with top tier customer support available across many channels.

The only real competition in our research is Squarespace, which offers a better user experience, a higher customer satisfaction score, and is our best-rated website builder for beginners. Squarespace doesn’t beat Wix’s website features however, scoring 4/5 compared to Wix’s 4.6/5 , so it may not be the best option for experienced builders with complex demands.

Wix has fallen a tad recently in the value for money category, due to rising prices across the industry and a few added features in that time. Still, it’s hard to add to a feature catalog that was already bursting at the seams to begin with. And given its ability to up its help & support score by offering more channels to reach out, Wix remains at the top of our list for the best website builder for small businesses.

See how the solution compares to other website builders in our table below, and follow our step-by-step guide to build a website with Wix .

We take our impartial research and analysis seriously, so you can have complete confidence that we're giving you the clearest, most useful product recommendations.

After conducting an initial exploration to identify the most relevant, popular, and established tools in the market, we put them through their paces with hands-on testing to see their real strengths and weaknesses. In this case, we put ten website builder products to the test across 251 areas of investigation.

Based on years of market and user needs research, we've established a website builder testing methodology that scores each product in six main categories of investigation and 33 subcategories ; this covers everything from customer feedback to design, ease of use, and more.

Our main testing categories for website builders are:

  • Website Features: the capabilities and functionalities offered by a website builder, e.g. blog functionality, SEO capability, and marketing capacity.
  • Design: the aesthetic appeal and visual layout of a website created using a website builder. It encompasses aspects such as page templates and customizable themes.
  • Customer Score: external customer opinion. This is the feedback and ratings given by customers who have used a particular website builder – the market position and reputation a website builder holds.
  • Ease of Use: how user-friendly and intuitive a website builder is for people with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Value for Money: the balance between the cost of a website builder and the benefits it provides. It considers factors such as pricing plans, subscription models, and available features.
  • Help and Support: the assistance and resources available to users when they encounter issues or need guidance while using a website builder.

When it comes to calculating a product's final score, not all testing areas are weighted evenly, as we know some aspects matter more to our readers than others, which are simply "nice to have." After hundreds of hours, our process is complete, and the results should ensure you can find the best solution for your needs.

At Tech.co, we have a number of full-time in-house researchers, who re-run this testing process regularly, to ensure our results remain reflective of the present day.

Wix.com is the most  popular website builder  by market share. Its closest competitor is  Squarespace .

Wix is often used for small businesses, portfolios, personal websites and more.

One big difference between Wix and other website builders is that Wix gives the user plenty of customization options. For example, you can move  any element to anywhere on a page  with the editor. This is different from most website builders .  You can  read more  about this in my Wix review.

What is Included In A Wix Website Plan?

Wix is a website builder and website builders are  all-in-one solutions .

Website builders like Wix include most things you’ll need in a typical website: templates, hosting, forms, ecommerce, photo galleries and more.

Wix Pricing Plans: What Is The Best Plan?

Here’s the thing : the best Wix website plan is whatever works for you.

So in this section I break down the important differences between each Wix paid plan.

A couple notes:

  • Wix advertises the monthly cost of annual plans on their pricing page. It’s confusing. You’re not able to see the actual price of monthly plans until you hit checkout.
  • You get a  free domain name for the first year  if you choose an annual plan. This is available for every plan except for the  Connect Domain  plan. (This must be for a new custom domain name— you can’t use this to renew an existing domain name.)
  • Wix’s  ecommerce plans  start at $27 / month with the  Business Basic  plan.
  • All ecommerce plans ( Business Basic, Business Unlimited  and  Business VIP ) also include online store tools for  bookings ,  ticket sales ,  restaurant orders ,  hotel reservations  and  artist ecommerce  features.
  • All plans include a free  SSL certificate.
  • Wix includes  $600 in ad vouchers  for several plans: $500 Google Ads (with a $500 purchase) and $100 Bing Ads. These vouchers need to be used within 2 months or they expire.
  • Wix has a  14-day money-back guarantee .
  • You can have multiple Wix websites, but  upgrading only affects one website . You’ll need to upgrade each website individually.

Connect Domain Plan

  • Note: Connect Domain is not available in every country.
  • Includes an ad on your website (see below for what the ad looks like).
  • Storage space: 500 MB
  • Bandwidth: 1 GB
  • Good for:  At $5 /month this plan is  cheap . I’d recommend most people avoid it due to it’s low bandwidth and advertisements. The one upside? It let’s you connect a domain name.

This is what the Wix Ad looks like on the \\\\*Connect Domain\\\\* plan.

  • Storage space: 3 GB
  • Bandwidth: 2 GB
  • Good for:  This has everything you need for a website but the 2 GB bandwidth limitation could be a challenge— especially since the  Wix template  we tested was 1.4 MB.

Unlimited Plan

  • Storage space: 10 GB
  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • Includes: Site Booster App, the Visitor Analytics App  and a $300 Ad Voucher (split between Google Ads, Bing Ads and Uberall).
  • Good for:  This is the plan we recommend for most websites. It’s the first plan with unlimited bandwidth and it includes plenty of storage.
  • Storage space: 20 GB
  • Includes: Priority Customer Care, Site Booster App, the Visitor Analytics App, Professional Logo, Social Media Files  and a $600 Ad Voucher (split between Google Ads, Bing Ads and “local listings”).
  • Good for : The reason to upgrade to Wix’s  Pro Plan  is to get access to the priority support ( Priority Customer Care )— which let’s you skip the line on phone support.

Business Basic Plan

  • The cheapest ecommerce plan.
  • Storage Space: 20 GB
  • Includes:  $300 Ad Voucher (split between Google Ads and Bing Ads).
  • Good for : Starting out in ecommerce. You’ll need to upgrade for some features: selling subscriptions, dropshipping, automated sales tax and advanced shipping.

Business Unlimited Plan

  • The next step up in ecommerce.
  • Storage Space: 35 GB
  • Includes:  $600 Ad Voucher (split between Google Ads and Bing Ads).
  • Good for : Gives you access to additional features: selling subscriptions, dropshipping, automated sales tax and advanced shipping.

Business VIP Plan

  • Ecommerce with priority support.
  • Storage Space: 50 GB
  • Good for : Gives you access to priority support and customized reports.

Wix Enterprise

  • Wix Enterprise  is not for most users. It is a custom solution for big brands and starts at $500 / month. It is similar to  Shopify Plus  and includes a dedicated account manager.

Wix's Free Plan

Wix  offers a free plan but it has limitations you should be aware of:

  • It includes an  advertisement  on your website.
  • The free subdomain (http://username.wixsite.com/mysite) isn’t very clean.
  • There is a  500 MB bandwidth limit  on free websites. This is quite low— especially since one  Wix template  we tested was 1.4 MB.
  • You’re not able to install Google Analytics.

What do Wix Ads on free websites look like?

The Wix ad is anchored to the top of your page— so it scrolls alongside your visitors. Here’s an example:

This ad scrolls alongside free Wix websites.

Wondering how this compares to other free website builders? Read our  free website builders  roundup.

Is Wix free forever?

Yes. Wix provides a free website indefinitely. They will not force you to upgrade to a Wix premium plan.

Does Wix give you good value for money? Yes. Is it expensive? Objectively not, but…

The cheapest plan on  Squarespace  (Wix’s biggest competitor) is $16 / month if you are on an annual term). Combo,  Wix’s cheapest plan is also $16 / month for an annual term.

But here’s the thing :  Combo  has a 2GB monthly bandwidth limit. Squarespace’s cheapest plan doesn’t have any such limit.

“Combo  has a 2GB monthly bandwidth limit. Squarespace’s cheapest plans have no such limit. ”

So really the plan that is most comparable to Squarespace is Wix’s  Unlimited  plan, which costs $22 / month for the annual term. In this sense, Wix is expensive .

Note:  Wix does offer a  Connect Domain  plan in some countries, but it includes an advertisement on your website and even lower bandwidth limits.

Want to look deeper into price comparisons? Check out our  Cheapest Website Builder  roundup.

Promotions: How often does Wix offer 50% off?

Wix offers 50% off as often as every two weeks.

For example, I signed up to Wix and was served a  Limited Time Offer  that expired on February 3:

This offer expired on February 3rd.

This offer expired on February 3rd.

… Another 50% off  Limited Time Offer  was back by February 17!

The next time I logged in was May 12 (I didn’t check in March and April) and there was yet another  Limited Time Offer!  So don’t stress too much about hitting the Limited Time Offer window.

The offer was back again when I logged in in May.

Registing Your Domain Name With Wix

Registering a domain name with Wix costs $14.95 / year .

Private Registration  for your domain name costs an additional $9.90 / year .

The  first year of domain names are free  if you purchase an annual plan.

What is Private Registration?

Domain names must have up-to-date contact information for the public Whois database (this is a requirement). This contact information is accessible to anyone (including marketing firms and spammers) but with  Private Registration  the public contact information will not be your contact information.

Do you own your domain name? Or does Wix?

You do. Wix is just helping you register the domain name— the domain name is yours and you move it to another domain name registrar at any time.

You can also add your own domain name from another provider. This can be a bit intimidating but Wix has a  helpful guide  to doing that.

Hosting Email With Wix

If you register your domain name with Wix, you can set up a custom email address with  Google Workspace  (example: [email protected]).

Google Workspace (previously called Google G Suite) lets you host your custom email address with Gmail software. I use Google Workspace and I highly recommend it.

Each mailbox costs $6.50 / month or $48 / month on a yearly term (saving you $6).  Wix often runs an offer to get 50% off your first year on annual plans .

Adding Google Workspace.

What is Wix Ascend?

  • Free ($0/month): Send 200 marketing & automated monthly emails. Comes with Wix branding.
  • Essentials ($10/month): Send 500 marketing & automated monthly emails. Removes Wix branding.
  • Core ($24/month): Send 5,000 marketing & automated monthly emails.
  • Advanced ($49/month): Send 1,000,000 marketing & automated monthly emails.

Wix Ascend  was a package of marketing tools available as an additional product to your website.

There were four Wix Ascend plans available ranging from free - $49 per month:

Wix Ascend plans.

Wix Ascend plans.

The suite of tools included:

  • Contacts  — Like a CRM for anyone who interacts with your website and business.
  • Members  — Adds membership functionality to your website.

  • Wix Chat  — Add live chat to your website.
  • Wix Forms  — Paid plans add more form builder functionality (example: accepting online payments).

  • Wix Invoices & Price Quotes  — For sending quotes and invoices to customers.
  • Tasks  — A to-do list app.
  • SEO Wiz  — An SEO tool. Basically like a checklist wizard.
  • Email Marketing  — Wix’s own email marketing tool.
  • Social Posts  — A tool for creating social media assets.
  • Marketing Integrations  — Easily connect with tools like Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel.
  • Logo Maker  — A free tool to create professional logos.

The Wix App Market is an app store with about 500 apps. Some apps are made by a third party, and some are created by Wix. Some are free, and some are premium apps.

Here are some example apps:

  • Get Google Ads ($75 / month)  — Makes it much easier to advertise your website on Google Ads.
  • Wix Site Search (Free)  — Adds a search engine to your website.
  • Simple Push Notifications (Free - $20 / month)  — Allows you to send push notifications to your visitors.

What is Editor X?

Editor X  was originally called Corvid— until Wix wisely did a brand pivot during the Covid-19 pandemic.

It’s a completely separate tool from the Wix website builder. It’s more of a front-end design tool, similar to  Webflow . It has a steeper learning curve but allows for much more design flexibility.

It has its own pricing plans that are divided into  Website Plans  and  Business & Ecommerce  plans.

Wix pricing overview

Wix offers five different packages, starting at $16 per month and reaching up to $159 per month (or higher for Enterprise packages.) Wix isn’t always the most affordable option, but its packages are packed full of features.

Wix’s Light plan is best for small operations. For example, if it’s just you and your assistant, Light can accommodate two collaborators. You won’t find a large suite of features, but there are enough that you can put a basic website together to establish an online presence.

All Wix packages – including Light – come with 24/7 customer service. Though you will have to initiate customer service with a chatbot, from there, you can submit a ticket for email service or request a callback from a live representative. All packages also come with a free domain for the first year.

While Light is the cheapest Wix plan, it’s not the cheapest option on the market. For example, when you compare Wix vs Weebly , you’ll find that Weebly offers a cheaper base plan with a larger suite of features. However, you may or may not see Weebly branding phased out in the near future in favor of Square branding – Square is merging with Weebly after an acquisition several years ago.

If you want to integrate an e-commerce platform on your website, the smallest Wix package you can get is Core. It’s still best for small teams as you can only have five collaborators, but it does allow you to process customer orders, offer e-gift cards under your own brand and dropship up to 25 products.

The package price for Wix Core isn’t bad for the features offered. Competitors like Shopify do offer building tools that are a little simpler to use but less customizable. Shopify’s packages are also offered at a slightly higher price. They start at $39 per month. To get five users on the account, you’ll have to pay $105 per month. Meanwhile, Wix Core only costs $29 per month with the extra customization capabilities.

If your business is doing a little more volume, you may want to consider the Business plan. This plan offers the most bang for your buck as far as Wix is concerned. You’ll get double the storage with the Business plan over Core, automated sales tax calculations on your first 100 orders, dropshipping for 250 products, up to 1,000 customer product reviews and the ability to accept up to five currencies in addition to USD.

Wix Business costs $36 per month, and like all Wix packages, the website template offered is highly customizable. There is a big jump in price between this package and the next one – if you can’t afford to spend more than a hundred dollars per month, this is your best bet.

When you look at competitors like Squarespace , a comparable package with advanced shipping options for end-to-end fulfillment comes with Squarespace’s $72 per month package. You’ll also lose some of the customization features if you go with Squarespace over Wix unless you know how to code.

Business Elite

Business Elite is dramatically more expensive at $159 per month. It might be worth the price hike if you absolutely need any of the following features:

  • 15 collaborators.
  • Unlimited storage space.
  • Ability to jump the customer service line.
  • Sales tax calculation on first 500 orders.
  • Unlimited dropshipping.
  • Rewards program for your customers.
  • Ability to accept up to 10 currencies in addition to USD.

It’s difficult to compare Wix to other website builders at this level, because there aren’t a lot of comparable packages. For example, Webflow’s highest package before an Enterprise plan (which requires a personalized quote) allows you to have 10 users and costs $49 per month — more in line with the Wix Business plan.

A Business Elite equivalent doesn’t exist, and if you want e-commerce tools with Webflow, the prices go up even higher. That said, if you have coding or advanced website building skills, you may want to do a Webflow vs Wix comparison and call in for a quote so you can compare packages, as Webflow does provide more opportunities for customization.

The Enterprise package is best for large operations and requires a customized quote for pricing. Your quote will be inclusive of features like:

  • Unlimited users.
  • Automated sales tax calculations on all orders.
  • Unlimited product reviews.
  • Single-sign-on (SSO).
  • Multi-site management with centralized billing.
  • Dedicated Wix coach for your company.
  • Custom templates and integrations.

Most website builders and e-commerce platforms have an enterprise-level package that doesn’t have transparent pricing – each package is tailor-made. If you have a larger company like a C Corp , you may want to call around for quotes at the enterprise tier.

Additional costs

While base prices may start at just $17 per month, there are other fees you’ll need to account for when you use Wix to build your website. Two major areas to keep an eye out for these potential fees include WHOIS privacy protection on your domain name and within the Wix App Market. Wix provides a large number of integrations, but many of them do come with subscription fees. When free app plans are available, features tend to be limited.

If you are on the $17 per month Light plan, be careful with the features you find in your dashboard. If they’re not included in your package, you may still be able to use them – but only if you pay an extra subscription fee. For example, while you can create a logo, you won’t have the rights to use it commercially unless you pay another $49 to $99 for a one-time fee.

Finally, if you use Wix Payments to process transactions, you’ll need to check out the full suite of potential fees, like a credit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay transactions, which incur a fee of 2.9% plus $0.30. As an alternative, you could research the best credit card processing companies to find cheaper transaction fees.

Wix value vs. alternatives

Overall, Wix provides a good value for the price. We did an in-depth analysis of the top platforms in the industry, and Wix not only made it onto the list of best website builders – it tops the list of the best e-commerce platforms .

However, the Basic plan may not be the best investment. There are competitors who will offer you more for less. However, the Core and Business levels provide the most value with extremely competitive prices for the features offered. While they’re more expensive, Business Elite and Enterprise packages can be a good match for larger organizations.

Bottom line: Is Wix worth it?

Yes, with the exception of the Basic package, Wix is worth the price. While it’s not always the cheapest option, it does provide access to a wide array of tools for the money. You’ll find the most value in the Business package, though pricing isn’t out-of-line for larger packages that include additional features.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Wix plans start at $17 per month but can get as high as $159 per month, depending on your package. Larger, enterprise-level packages are available, but only through customized quotes. Expect these packages to be more expensive.

Yes, Wix does technically have a free plan, but it’s miniscule. There’s only 500 MB of storage, and you’ll be using a Wix site subdomain rather than a custom domain , which makes you appear less professional. You’ll also see Wix ads all over your site. While you will have access to tools in your dashboard, almost everything will cost extra.

Yes, if you use Wix to process payments, you will run into transaction fees. You’ll pay 2.9% plus $0.30 for each credit card , Apple Pay or Google Play transaction. Buy-now-pay-later services like Affirm and Afterpay will incur a fee of 6.0% plus $0.30.

Widely accepted as one of the best website builders on the market, Wix has recently simplified its pricing structure and reduced its number of plans from seven to five. You can now subscribe to Wix for $16-$159 monthly (paying for a full year upfront).

Tailored pricing is available for large enterprises if you’re ambitious about scaling up operations this year.

wix business plan cost

As well as launching its AI writer tool earlier this year, Wix has recently announced its AI meta tag creator. These additions can help win back the time and effort spent on search engine optimization, especially for those managing larger websites.

Although its stock price has dropped drastically since its 2021 peak, it remains a website platform with strong long-term revenue growth. But unlike most digital products right now, Wix ‘s recent pricing changes have not been straight skyward. Although Wix has increased its prices between now and last year, the rebrand of pricing plans this year includes more storage space for no additional cost.

Pivoting sharply towards business users, Wix pricing plans are now almost entirely geared towards online sellers , with just one plan – Wix Lite – available without online payment features.

Throughout this article, we’ve listed pricing as Wix publishes it. That means taxes are not included , and will be added at the checkout.

Wix Pricing: How much does Wix cost?

Browsing through Wix price plans was a bit mind-boggling last year, as you had eight separate plans to wade through. Now there are just four (plus the Enterprise option), and it’s much easier to pick and choose the plan you need.

Click the arrows to scroll through the table and compare all the price plans.

Like most website builder companies, Wix offers a free trial of 14 days plus a 14-day money-back guarantee on all premium plans so you can test out a price plan to see whether it’s the right fit.

All of Wix’s plans have been replaced with different offerings. For instance, Wix has dropped its “Connect Domain” and “Combo” plans to replace them with “Light” and “Core.” We’ll look in detail at each of these in the sections below.

Overall, Wix’s pricing changes mean it now offers more storage space for the same price . This was sorely needed, as many of Wix’s competitors offered a lot more storage for lower costs.

And you can still get unlimited storage with Weebly from $12 per month (paying for one year upfront). You’ll only get the equivalent from Wix at its $159-per-month tier (on an annual billing cycle).

We conducted a complete review if you’d like a detailed breakdown of Wix, including information on key features, competitor comparison and pros and cons.

Let’s take a closer look at Wix Light, next.

screenshot of Wix editor with overlaid menu of AI text generator tool

A new Wix feature that we love is the AI text generator – watch the video above for a quick demonstration. You simply type in a few phrases for inspiration, select the type of text you need, then choose from three auto-generated options.

1. Wix Light

  • What: Create a basic website to promote services
  • Who: Small business websites or micro-entrepreneurs
  • Why: Capture basic customer data with online forms
  • How much: $16 per month – discounts available for two or three years of prepayment

Wix’s Light plan costs $16 per month if you pay for one year upfront, otherwise, the month-to-month cost is $23. You’ll get an easy-to-use website builder without any sales features.

This plan is only suitable for basic business purposes – a place where customers can find your email address and some photos when they Google your name. Therefore it’s a decent option for web design for small businesses such as repair services, automobile services, antique stores, and neighborhood services like tree surgery.

six ecommerce website template thumbnails in a grid

The now-retired “Connect Domain” plan was $16 per month used to offer just 500MB of storage. It also had Wix branded adverts on your site, which often created a pretty amateurish look.

But the new “Light” plan is more generous. Priced at $16 per month, Wix Light offers 2GB of storage, which is much more realistic for small and local businesses to upload photos of products, audio content, menus, and so on. You won’t have any Wix branded ads on your site, and you’ll get the added bonus of one year’s free domain rental.

Wix’s Combo plan ($22 per month) has seen the biggest change. Now no longer available, Wix Combo used to offer 3GB of storage with one year’s free domain.

It had been the cheapest plan not to offer Wix ads. Now you can pay $6 less per month for Wix Light and get a website without Wix stickers all over it (albeit with just 2GB of storage).

2. Wix Core

What:  An affordable online store with solid sales features Who: Smaller retailers starting a small store Why: Customers can create an account to store payment and delivery details How much: $27 per month – discount available for two or three years prepayment

For $9 more per month, Wix Core opens up a whole range of retail opportunities compared with Wix Light. While Wix Light provides little more than a nice place to host images and collect customer emails, Wix Core allows you to set up a fully-fledged online store.

Its monthly price is rather steep at $34 per month, but if you pay for a year upfront Wix Core works out at $27 per month.

You can sell a wide range of product types , including digital artwork, video, and audio. You can sell subscriptions affordably on the Wix Core plan, unlike Squarespace, which requires an upgrade to its $49 per month Commerce Advanced plan.

four images of recipe books with pricing underneath each one

Replacing Wix’s “Business Basic” plan ($27 per month) is Wix Core (also $27 per month). Wix Core’s storage space is more than double that of Business Basic (50GB compared with 20GB).

Another change is the introduction of a new webchat feature to interact with your site’s customers. That’s particularly useful for businesses in retail, as it provides a convenient customer service channel in case any questions are holding back a purchase decision.

It’s the lowest Wix pricing tier to offer site analytics as well, providing you with tips on how to improve traffic (the flow of visitors) to your website.

However, there are lots of limitations, making it unsuitable for more ambitious online merchants. For instance, you can’t collect product review s, nor can you sell in multiple currencies. You don’t get access to shipping features like the ability to print shipping labels and manage fulfilment.

So you’ll need to arrange your own mailing processes  and keep a handle on orders without much automation from Wix’s side.

3. Wix Business

What: Organize and automate your sales process Who: Online sellers looking to scale up Why: Order fulfilment tools such as shipping label printing How much: $32 per month – discount available for two or three years’ upfront payment

Wix still has a $32 per month tier (formerly “Business Unlimited”, with 35GB storage) which has been replaced by “Business” with 100GB storage . Other aspects of this plan have stayed the same: you can print shipping labels, connect shipping apps, and enjoy automated tax calculation for 100 orders per month.

That means this is the plan for small business leaders who are truly looking to scale up , and expand their product offerings. On the other hand, local businesses or micro entrepreneurs selling handmade trinkets or offering one-to-one services at very low volumes would do better with Wix Core.

Wix allows you to sell a maximum of 50,000 products across any of its price plans. So if you want to scale up beyond that, we recommend you check out our Shopify pricing review instead.

One of the few limitations of this plan are that you can’t implement a loyalty program (with points, coupons, rewards, etc.). But other than that, it’s a genuinely great value option for online selling. You’ll be able to collect up to 1,000 customer reviews, which are vital for helping users to trust your site .

We recommend Wix Business for merchants with their sights set on overseas sales in particular, because of the following features:

  • Sell in six currencies
  • Build multiple websites
  • Manage five locations from one account
  • 10 staff accounts with custom roles for each

These features gives you extra control over website permissions, meaning you can set up your staff to collaborate effectively on various websites.

4. Wix Business Elite

  • What: Expand an established online store
  • Who: Fast-moving SMB retailers with some experience under their belt
  • Why: Priority customer support
  • How much: $159 per month – discounts available for two or three years prepayment

If your online sales are steady, your brand is gaining popularity, and you’re looking to expand Wix Elite is a decent option for expansion support. At $159 per month (paying for one year upfront), it’s certainly more affordable than Shopify Advanced at $399 per month.

The $159 per month plan (formerly known as “Business VIP”) is now “Business Elite” and storage space has been upgraded from 50GB to unlimited . You’ll get priority customer support, just the same on this plan as you did before.

For that reason, we recommend it for retailers in industries where speed is vital to successful operations. If you’re selling pricier items (perhaps with customization), your clientele is going to expect better customer service than a small-time seller on eBay.

You’re more likely to be able to provide rapid issue resolution with the phone support from Wix that you get at this tier. We have to say it’s a bit cheeky to charge so much for access to phone support, given IONOS offers this at all levels.

Square Online offers impressive 24/7 phone support at its $79 per month plan, making it potentially more appealing for ambitious sellers concerned about monthly outgoings.

Does Wix Charge Transaction fees?

Wix’s major value advantage is  not charging any transaction fees .

However, you’ll need to pay processing fees to third-party payment gateways, as is usual throughout retail. Wix will invoice you for these at the end of the month. Here are the rates:

  • Credit or debit card with Wix Payments: 2.9% + 30¢
  • Apply Pay: 2.9% + 30¢
  • Wix Payments Point of Sale (POS): 2.6%

We go through competitors and their differences more thoroughly in our complete guide to the  best online sales platforms for small businesses .

Yes, Wix has a free plan, so you can design and publish your website at no cost. Here are the limitations of the Wix free plan:

  • URL contains “youraccountname.wixsite.com”
  • Wix ads on every page
  • 500MB of storage space
  • Can’t take online payments
  • No Google analytics

Wix also has a 14-day free trial so you can test its premium web builder free of charge. There’s a money-back guarantee for the first two weeks of any paid subscription as well.

Wix Fees and Costs: Billing Cycles, Ongoing Costs and Hidden Fees

Don’t forget to read the small print – beyond just the subscription cost, you may have to pay some ‘hidden’ fees such as set-up fees or paid add-ons. Let’s break down what you can expect to pay, as well as on what terms.

Wix Billing Cycles

You can choose to pay one of four ways: monthly, annually, once per two years  or once every three years . Of these, the discounts are bigger if you pick the latter.

Be aware that subscriptions are on auto-renew, so you should set a reminder for when your billing period is coming to an end.  Annual and biannual plans are renewed 14 days before the plan’s expiry date.

Additional Wix website Costs:

The following additional charges may appear on your invoice from Wix:

  • Custom domain name: $16.89 a year
  • Business email with Google: $4.95 monthly per user
  • Paid apps (integrations)
  • Third-party payment processing fees
  • Mandatory taxes – including VAT

Bear in mind that if you bought a subscription while it was discounted, it will renew at the regular (higher) rate.

Wix Pricing Versus Competitors’ Pricing

Wix was joint third-best in the Value for Money category of our recent round of rigorous website builder testing. When comparing Wix with Squarespace on value for money, they both scored an impressive 4.2/5. Square came top because it’s the only e-commerce platform that doesn’t charge a monthly subscription fee to use its online sales platform.

Here are the Value for Money rankings:

  • Square: 4.7/5
  • Woocommerce: 4.3/5
  • Wix  and Squarespace: 4.2/5
  • Shopify, Americommerce, PinnacleCart and Bigcommerce: 3.0/5

Even in light of this list, it’s worth giving Wix a second look given the website builder scored 4.6/5 overall, ranking second place among all its competitors.

If you’re looking to sell cheaply online, you’re probably wondering whether or not to choose Wix. To help solve this riddle, we’ve put together a comparison chart of Wix and its competitors’ lowest-price e-commerce plans without onsite adverts.

You can directly compare their features by clicking the left and right arrows:

Wix offers a healthy balance between attractive design options, time-saving AI tools, and basic online selling options.

The convenience of shipping label printing, local currency pricing and automated sales tax make the $32-a-month Wix Business the best e-commerce plan in our eyes. These sales features enable you to build a solid workflow and be better organized.

Remember, Wix Business is specifically aimed at online sellers only . If you’re looking to build a business landing page, an artist’s portfolio, a community forum or any other kind of website then you should go for the Wix Light plan. At just $16   per month , Wix’s Light plan lets you build a website with hosting included and no Wix ads. Nice!

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s not the best, however, as it ranked joint-third in our price comparison, losing out to Square and Woocommerce. That being said, it placed second in our overall shortlist due to its excellent range of features and ease-of-use which makes it a solid choice if affordability isn’t your number one priority.

  • Wix Light is best suited for small businesses or freelancers.
  • Wix Core is best suited for retailers starting a small online store.
  • Wix Business is best suited for online sellers with an existing store who are looking to level up.
  • Wix Business Elite is best suited for fast-growing SMBs with experience of running an online store.

Wix is one of the  best website builders on the market, according to our hands-on testing and research. It has cheap pricing and a wealth of features that are perfect for small businesses.

Wix’s premium website plans start from an affordable £7.50 per month , and its ecommerce plans are priced from £14 per month . Compared to how much you’d spend on employing a web designer , Wix is tremendous value. Yes, there’s a free plan, too, but this isn’t aimed at business users. Even most bloggers would baulk at its limitations.

The paid plans begin from a fantastic annual cost of under £100. This rises if you want to sell through your site, as the ecommerce plans cost more, but as business overheads go, Wix offers a super-affordable way to create a genuinely professional-looking website.

Let’s keep this simple, here are the main Wix Pricing plans – though be sure to check directly with Wix as regular deals and discounts can help reduce these further:

  • Wix free plan –  £0 per month
  • Wix Light  plan –  £7.50 per month
  • Wix Core plan  –  £14 per month
  • Wix Business plan –  £20 per month
  • Wix Business Elite plan –  £119 per month
  • Wix Enterprise plan  – Bespoke quote

Regular deals and discounts mean you can frequently save on costs, such as getting  10% off with the code “TAKE10” . Wix also offers very generous discounts when you choose longer plans. You can save up to £120 on the Business Elite plan if you opt for a 12-month contract.

How to save money on wix.

  • Wix costs compared to other web builders
  • Wix pricing: in summary

Below, we list the main details you need to know for the costs of each Wix pricing tier.

We’ve included what you’ll get as the main features at each plan. Though we’ve included the Free tier in the table below, keep in mind that this isn’t something business users should rely on. The Free version of Wix doesn’t let you have a regular URL for your site domain, and you’ll have to display ads (for Wix) on your site.

What’s included with your plan?

On the Core, Business, and Business Elite plans, you can use one of Wix’s 800+ templates to build and launch a professional-looking website that has no Wix branding.

It’s important to note that the Core, Business, Business Elite, and the Enterprise plans all offer ecommerce functionalities, but the Light plan doesn’t.  So if you want to launch an online store, you’ll have to choose one of the Wix online store plans. If you choose one of the ecommerce plans, you’ll have access to a bounty of features to help you make your online store a success, including:

  • Up to 50,000 products to showcase on your site
  • Abandoned cart recovery
  • Multi-channel selling (including socials like Instagram )

Each of Wix’s ecommerce plan comes with these features. However, there are key differences between each package, so it’s best to choose a plan that meets all of the needs of your ecommerce business.

But what do you get for your money for the higher-cost Wix plans? Is the free tier worth considering at all? And do you need the features you’re paying for, and could you get the same for less elsewhere? Let’s dive into Wix’s pricing to help you decide which plan may be the best for your business.

Read more: Find out why Wix is our number one website builder via our in-depth Wix review .

  • Free forever - you can publish a site at zero cost
  • You'll have access to hundreds of Wix templates and its app store for plug-ins
  • A great way of getting a feel for building a site on Wix, without getting your wallet out
  • You can't sell products without paying for a plan
  • You can't connect a custom domain - your web address will have 'Wix' in it
  • The site will have adverts for Wix on it

wix ad website example

Wix has a free plan, which you can use to build and launch a website without spending a penny. It doesn’t require any card details, and there’s no obligation to upgrade to a paid-for plan.

It serves as a fantastic starting point for anyone venturing into website building. With this plan, you gain access to Wix’s intuitive drag-and-drop website builder, making the process of creating a website a breeze, even without any coding experience.

However, there are two important caveats: the first is that your website will bear a Wix-branded domain (such as username.wixsite.com/siteaddress), rather than a custom domain. Secondly, Wix ads will display on your site, which won’t give off a professional vibe (but can be a small trade-off for a free service).

Storage and bandwidth are also limited to 500MB each , which could potentially restrict the growth of your website, especially if you’re anticipating high traffic or uploading a lot of media files.

Despite these limitations, you still get access to some handy features like the Wix SEO Wiz for basic search engine optimisation, and the Wix App Market, which houses a variety of free and paid apps that can enhance your website – often at no additional cost.

Who is the free plan suitable for?

Though we’ve included the Free tier in the table below, keep in mind that this isn’t something business users should rely on due to the Wix-branded site domain, and having to display ads (for Wix) on your site.

A better option is to   start a free trial of one of the plans that gives you access to ecommerce features,  allowing you to get a feel for the platform and its online store offering. Remember, though, if you’re creating an online store with Wix, you can do so for free – but you can’t actually sell any products until you pay for a premium plan.

Wix Light –  £7.50 per month

  • Incredibly low-cost, affordable plan for any business
  • You can add your own custom domain
  • 24/7 customer support for such a minimal price
  • Only a minor upgrade on Wix's free plan
  • No customer accounts
  • Minimal storage and bandwidth make it hard to run your business effectively online

wix business plan cost

The basic paid plan will offer you the features you need to present the world with a professional website for your business. You will be able to drop the free Wix URL (username.wixsite.com/siteaddress) and create your own domain name, giving your brand a professional look. This plan costs £7.50 per month – and you can get 10% off using our code ‘ TAKE10 ‘ .

However, like the free version of Wix, there are still limits to what can be done with the platform. You get 2GB of storage space , two collaborators, and 30 minutes worth of video content on your site. This can limit how professional and appealing your site ends up looking because you won’t have the option to upload all your own video content. The limit of two separate logins will make it harder to collaborate simultaneously on Wix, making editing and upgrading your website a time-consuming task.

With a limited offering, your site could run into quite a few problems in the future, including website crashes and gateway timeouts. If you opt for the Basic plan but want to circumvent this issue, we’d suggest making image sizes smaller when uploading.

Who is the Light plan suitable for?

Wix’s Light plan is an excellent choice for businesses or side hustles that need to create  professional online presence but don’t require ecommerce functionalities .

It caters well to service-based businesses, such as consultants, freelancers, photographers, or local businesses like restaurants or salons that want to showcase their offerings and connect with potential clients. With its user-friendly website builder and access to professional templates, the Light plan allows businesses to create a polished and informative online front that reflects their brand identity.

However, the Light plan might not be suitable for businesses that are heavily reliant on video content. While Wix does support video integration, the Light plan has limitations in terms of storage and bandwidth when compared with the higher-tier plans. Businesses that primarily focus on video content creation, such as vloggers, video production companies, or online courses, may find these restrictions limiting.

Light – Can I have an online store?

This plan doesn’t offer an ecommerce functionality, so you’ll need to opt for one of its pricier plans (Core, Business, Business Elite) if you want to set up an online shop.

Wix Core – £14 per month

  • Removes those pesky, unprofessional looking Wix ads
  • 50GB of storage space allows you to create more complex websites and have more creative freedom
  • Free domain for 1 year
  • Up to 5 hours of video uploading available to stream and showcase your videos online
  • Customers can create accounts for fast checkout and specific payment methods
  • Capability to sell on social channels including Facebook and Instagram
  • Abandoned cart recovery through email reminders to improve customer sales
  • Unlimited products so customers can shop through your full inventory
  • Limited bandwidth, making it less suitable for busy websites
  • No access to Wix's site booster app
  • Multiple currencies are not accepted - issue for businesses selling internationally
  • No advanced shipping methods
  • No marketplace selling functionality - which means on Etsy, eBay or Amazon sales

Core is a great first step for those who are building a website for the first time, costing £14 per month. We would recommend this plan for any micro business owners that want to dip their toe in the website building water – especially if you are just after the basics at an affordable price. But, it’s a limited plan for any business anticipating a large amount of site traffic.

You can use your own custom domain – free for your first year if you purchase it through Wix – and create a fully customised website with no Wix ads.

Who is the Core plan suitable for?

The Wix Core plan is perfectly reasonable for a simple informational site serving a smallish audience – say, a restaurant website , or a small business information and contact site.

Your bandwidth is capped at 50GB , however, which means it would be a limited choice if you expected to have a lot of website traffic. This wouldn’t be a good choice for a busy online store, for example.

Wix’s Core plan is a very solid offering when compared with the basic plans of its competitors like Shopify or SquareSpace, particularly because you pay just £14 per month (compared to Shopify’s Basic £25 and SquareSpace’s Business £17) while still getting a rich offering of features.

Core may not be suitable for businesses that want to add numerous videos and photos to a site, due to the data limit however. That said, if you host your videos on YouTube, you can embed them into your Wix site with just a quick copy-and-paste, and at no extra cost at all.

Core – Can I have an online store?

When it comes to ecommerce, Core is a great option for small businesses that are just starting to sell online . The plan allows you to accept online payments securely and manage all transactions via the Wix dashboard.

It also gives you access to some basic sales features, including customer accounts for faster checkout, unlimited inventory, collections that can be filtered, and abandoned cart recovery with push email notifications.

Business – £20 per month –  our top recommendation

  • One year free of site booster - an amazing Wix app that will help you get found higher up on search engines
  • Up to 10 collaborators, which makes website building a teamwork exercise
  • A solid 100GB of storage space ensures you have plenty of room for videos, photos. documents and more
  • Offer subscriptions to your customers and collect recurring payments on your products and services
  • Advanced shipping methods allow you to reach more customers and manage end-to-end order fulfilment
  • Display product pricing in multiple currencies so you can appeal to a wider, more international audience
  • Sell on the worlds biggest marketplaces - including eBay
  • No customised report to help you stay on track of how well your website is performing
  • Only offered 24/7 customer care instead of priority - can be an issue as sales and demand increases
  • Can't generate customised reports to analyse sales performance
  • Dropshipping functionality is available - but limited compared to the Business Elite plan

The Wix Business plan is our top recommendation for the majority of small businesses.

It includes everything that comes with the Core plan, including a free custom domain for one year and the removal of Wix ads. You’ll also receive 100GB of storage, and 10 hours of video content on your site.

You also get access to two of Wix’s most sophisticated apps: the Site Booster app (for one year) and visitor analytics, both of which are fundamental when creating a successful business website using Wix. Site Booster can help you rank higher by giving you tailored SEO recommendations for search engines like Google, while visitor analytics allows you to assess your website’s traffic and specific page performance.

Although Wix is a fantastic provider, if you’re strapped for cash, we recommend looking at Squarespace’s Business plan as an alternative. With Squarespace , you’ll pay £17 per month for the Business plan, compared to Wix’s £20 per month .

The £3 per month price difference primarily affects the feature set and customisation options available to users. While both platforms offer intuitive website builders, ecommerce capabilities, and professional templates, Wix’s extensive app marketplace is superior to Squarespace’s. Plus, with Wix, users benefit from priority support for Business plan subscribers, which adds value despite the slightly higher price point.

Still, there’s one reason we would recommend Squarespace over Wix, and that’s the sumptuous visuals of the Squarespace templates. If you’re building a site for a business in an industry where design matters above all else, then Squarespace has the edge over any competitor. Its templates can’t be beaten for sheer looks

Business – Can I have an online store?

When it comes to ecommerce, this plan is great for growing businesses that anticipate higher traffic or require advanced marketing and analytics features.

Its capabilities stretch beyond domestic sales, with its multiple currency feature and advanced shipping methods – including end-to-end order fulfilment.

The difference between this and the Core plan – which both offer ecommerce – is that this plan is for SMEs that are serious about starting an online store and need a wider range of functionalities.

It doubles the storage space (100GB vs 50GB) and allows for more collaborators (10 vs 5) than the Core plan. Additionally, the Business plan provides a Standard marketing suite and Standard site analytics, offering in-depth tools to help promote your website and track its performance.

For Wix users who want to sell internationally, these features help overcome two significant barriers that online stores face. One is displaying the costs accurately for customers in their chosen currency, and the other is receiving goods safely and securely from overseas without hassle.

Your business can also benefit from Wix’s collaboration with the dropshipping supplier Modalyst, offering inventory on up to 250 products, as well as up to 1,000 product reviews through KudoBuzz.

wix visitor analytics

Want unlimited bandwidth and storage for your website for just £20 per month? Go for the Wix Business plan.

Business Elite – £119 per month

  • Unlimited storage space - ideal for sophisticated, intrinsic, and creative website designs
  • Free one year of site booster and visitor analytics apps to help you grow your website with ease
  • Professional logo design feature lets you create a logo for your brand that means business
  • Priority customer care lets you jump the queues and receive support when you need it most
  • Expensive compared to the Business plan, and doesn't include unlimited storage space like other competitor's premium plans
  • Not cost effective for micro businesses

The Business Elite plan is a serious ramp-up from what Wix’s cheaper plans offer, and has been designed to support larger businesses . It includes everything from the previous plans, as well as first-priority support so you can skip the queues and get immediate assistance for any issues, such as site errors.

Professional logo and social media logo designs (when purchasing a yearly subscription or higher) are available as part of the pricing, so you can present your brand to your customers in the most sophisticated way possible. On the cheaper Wix plans, you can pay extra to create a logo.

You also get much bigger allowances, with unlimited bandwidth and unlimited storage, and you can upload up to five hours of video content (very recently increased from 20GB of storage and unlimited hours of video content).

The Business Elite plan grants you access to the full suite of Wix features, bandwidth and support, making it a great fit for larger scale businesses that deal with higher volumes of traffic visiting their sites. You’ll have access to first-priority support , meaning if anything goes wrong, you’ll be connected to a dedicated agent much more quickly, compared to support requests on other plans.

This is something you’ll want to access if your website regularly gets a lot of traffic — extended amounts of downtime or issues could lead you to lost revenue.

You’ll also have unlimited storage and an allowance for 15 collaborators, making it easier for you and key stakeholders to contribute and collaborate. Most importantly, you’ll also have advanced site analytics, giving you all the data you need to get insights into how customers access your site and interact with its pages.

For example, you’ll be able to map out your website data on bar charts, line charts, maps and heat maps, equipping you with data-driven insights on how to improve your website traffic and ranking.

Business Elite –  Can I have an online store?

You certainly can – in fact, if you’re running a large, successful online store that gets a high volume of customer traffic, then the Business Elite Plan is the best option to choose from Wix.

The unlimited storage and bandwidth we mentioned above are pretty much essential for a large scale ecommerce site. You don’t want to find yourself hitting a data cap just as a busy trading season begins, after all.

On top of this, the boosted customer support options will put you at the front of the queue should anything go wrong, minimising your potential downtime and ensuring the sales keep flowing.

It also comes equipped with an unlimited dropshipping functionality and in-depth and customisable reporting, ideal for ecommerce businesses that are looking to scale. With Wix’s Analytics Reports, you’ll be able to map out your website data on bar charts, line charts, maps and heat maps, equipping you data-driven insights on how to improve your website traffic and ranking.

Wix frequently runs deals and discounts in the form of flash sales. Visit our Wix flash sale page for the latest deals.

In addition to the plan you choose, there are a number of other factors that will affect the overall cost of your Wix website. These include:

Billing cycles

Wix offers its customers a range of billing cycles. You can choose to pay:

  • Every month
  • Two years upfront
  • Three years upfront

Your decision will depend entirely on how long you plan to commit to your Wix subscription. The longer the commitment, the cheaper the plan. However, be aware that you can’t transfer your actual Wix website (the template) over to another platform. You can transfer your domain, but NOT the website itself.

After you’ve made your decision, you can choose whichever billing cycle suits your business best at checkout.

Once you’ve paid for your subscription, you can’t then change your billing cycle until it’s run its course.

For example, if you choose the Business plan, for each billing cycle option, you’d pay:

  • Monthly: £23 per month
  • Yearly: £20 per month
  • Two years: £16.50 per month
  • Three years : £15 per month

The displayed price also excludes VAT . Web builders are subjected to the standard UK VAT rate of 20%.

So, for an annual subscription on the Business plan, you’d pay:

£20 per month x 12 = £240 + VAT at 20% (£48) = £288

Take advantage of deals and discounts: Wix frequently offers promotional codes and discounts, so be sure to check its website or social media pages before you upgrade to a premium plan. For instance, the code “ TAKE10 ” will give you 10% off your entire purchase.

Choose a longer billing cycle: Wix offers significant discounts for choosing longer billing cycles, such as a year or three years, compared to paying monthly. For example, you can save up to £120 on the Business Elite plan if you choose a 12-month contract instead of the monthly plan. Savings with the cheapest plan, Core

Savings with the most expensive plan, Business Elite:

Wix payments and transaction fees.

Wix has its very own payment solution: Wix Payments. It is easy to set up, and allows you to accept credit and debit cards, iDeal, and Pay Now by Klarna.

All payments taken through Wix Payments are subject to a 2.1% + 20p transaction fee.

In the UK, the minimum charge amount is £1.

Alternatively, Wix allows you to accept payments from a range of other payment providers. Be aware that every payment provider charges a different processing fee.

We recommend you read Wix’s in-depth payment processing fees guide for more info.

Wix domain name renewal

It’s pretty much standard practice in the industry to offer a free domain name for the first year of your website builder or ecommerce plan, which then renews at the standard rate.

The cost will depend entirely on your chosen domain name extension, the number of years you select, whether or not you choose to add privacy protection, and local tax or VAT laws.

Find out everything you need to know about domain name costs in this guide .

Wix add-ons and extras

The Wix app market offers more than 300 apps and business tools that you can use to enhance the functionality of your website. Available apps include Quickbooks , Mailchimp, Google Ads, HubSpot , and more. You can check out the full range on the Wix app store .

Wix and our value for money cost comparison

While Wix doesn’t offer the absolute cheapest website plans. For instance, it’s unercut by the cheaper GoDaddy. But, we’d argue it’s still a top value website builder to choose, thanks to the outstanding features and ease of use you get for a still very low overhead.

In our research, Wix ranked highly for its features, such as the ability to create a unique mobile experience for your website, engage visitors with eye-catching animations, and the ability to manage appointments directly through your site with Wix Bookings.

Our second-ranked platform, Shopify, charges £19-£259 per month (or even more on monthly billing) for its comparable ecommerce plans. This makes Wix a potentially more affordable option, especially for those starting out.

You can also take a close look at how WordPress compares with Wix in terms of pricing and features in our dedicated Wix vs WordPress  guide.

We tested 8website builders to evaluate them in terms of functionality, usability, accuracy, and aesthetics so we can make the most useful recommendations to small UK-based businesses.

Our rigorous testing process means these products have been scored and rated in six main categories of investigation and 33 subcategories – in fact, we covered 251 areas of investigation in total. We then gave each category score a ‘relevance weighting’ to ensure the product’s final score perfectly reflects the needs of our Startups.co.uk readers.

Our main testing categories for website builders are:

  • Website Features: the capabilities and functionalities offered by a website builder, e.g. blog functionality, SEO capability, and marketing capacity.
  • Design : the aesthetic appeal and visual layout of a website created using a website builder. It encompasses aspects such as page templates and customisable themes.
  • Customer Score : external customer opinion; the feedback and ratings given by customers who have used a particular website builder – the market position and reputation a website builder holds.
  • Ease of Use: how user-friendly and intuitive a website builder is for people with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Value for Money : the balance between the cost of a website builder and the benefits it provides. It considers factors such as pricing plans, subscription models, and available features.
  • Help and Support : the assistance and resources available to users when they encounter issues or need guidance while using a website builder.

Conclusion: is Wix good value?

You should now have a clearer view of what Wix costs, at each of its price points. The remaining question may be,  is it worth the money?

It’s a strong “yes” from us. keep in mind, for even a very basic business website, you could end up spending hundreds or even thousands of pounds contracting a website designer. If you want them to build you a functioning ecommerce store, you’re now talking tends of thousands.

Wix, on the other hand, lets you do much of the above from under £100 per year. Even for an ecommerce site on the Business Plan – which should suit most new online stores – you’re able to keep costs to under £250 per year, while still benefiting from the immensely impressive templates and setup options Wix gives you. There’s no coding needed, and support is always on hand.

To summarise, below are all of Wix’s pricing plans:

  • Wix free plan –   £0 per month
  • Wix Light plan –   £7.50 per month
  • Wix Core plan  –   £14 per month
  • Wix Business plan –   £20 per month
  • Wix Business Elite plan –   £119 per month
  • Wix Enterprise plan –  Bespoke quote

Based on the abundance of features you get for the price point, Wix is undoubtedly a good-value web-building product.

Still not sure? The free plan is a great way to get a taste of Wix risk-free, but we’d recommend upgrading to a premium plan as soon as possible if you want to see what Wix really has to offer.

Remember, there’s a 14-day free trial for all premium plans. You can try any of them out, and cancel if it doesn’t seem like the right fit for your business.

Remember, Wix is also offering 10% off to all new users with the code “ TAKE10 ” and there’s a   14-day free trial for all premium plans.

  • Is Wix actually free? Wix has a free plan available. However, we don't recommend this as an option for businesses because you can't sell online and your site will be littered with Wix ads. You'll also have no custom domain - which doesn't create a sense of professionalism. We suggest you use Wix's free plan to test out the features.
  • How can I save money on Wix? The best ways to save on Wix right now are to use the 10% discount code “TAKE10” for 10% off for all new users, and to opt for longer plans to capitalise on the long-term savings.
  • What are the disadvantages of Wix? There aren't many disadvantages to using Wix as your website builder or ecommerce platform. The VIP plans are incredibly efficient, particularly considering the cost. The primary disadvantage with Wix is that once you have chosen your template and set up your website, you can't change template. Other disadvantages would be that Wix's dropshipping functionality is not as strong as other competitors, like Shopify and BigCommerce.
  • Is WordPress better than Wix? For most small business owners, WordPress is not better than Wix. The only time WordPress may out perform Wix is when you have a solid level of coding experience, and can build using an open source platform (which is how WordPress operates). If you have no coding experience, Wix should be your go-to provider.

Wix Pricing 2024: All The Plans and Hidden Fees

Wix Pricing

Wix is probably one of the most well-known website builders in the world, with more than 8 million websites that are empowered by it. This platform ensures that you can build your website from scratch in the easiest way with its drag-and-drop system in various Wix pricing plans . Currently, Wix is offering different types of pricing plans, which could confuse you. That's why our experts at LitExtension decided to craft this blog to help you understand everything about it.

Basically, Wix pricing plans include:

  • Business plan
  • Business Elite plan
  • Enterprise plan

Now, let's buckle your seat, LitExtension – #1 Shopping Cart Migration Expert will guide you through everything we know and experience while using the platform. Let’s get started.

Wix Pricing – An Overview

Before getting to the nitty gritty, let's briefly take a look at all the pricing plans that Wix is currently offerring.

6 Wix Pricing Plans Explained

Wix platform focuses on both website builder and eCommerce functionality . Each pricing plan may let you either build and showcase your elite websites or use exciting features to help you kick your online business off. It’s worth noting that the pricing details we share today for the various Wix plans (Light, Core, Business, etc.) refer to the recently updated prices in the US. This also indicates the prices may differ in other regions or were previously different before the 2024 update.

Now, let’s discover all the pricing of Wix and find which Wix plan you should opt for.

1 – Wix Free Plan

Is Wix free to use? Of course, it’s completely free and free forever! Wix Free plan allows setting up a basic online storefront at no cost to test products/services. even though it lacks the necessary features for online selling .

wix website with free pricing plan

Here are some downsides you may face with this plan:

  • Strict storage/bandwidth limits (500MB).
  • No essential eCommerce features like inventory management and order/transaction tracking.
  • Include Wix branding, and Wix ads may not be appropriate for brands trying to control their image.

While testing out the free version two months ago, we could not integrate Google Analytics with our website . In the long run, this might be a significant disadvantage for any marketing strategy. With all that in mind, we find that this plan is only fine for:

  • Individuals or very small businesses just getting started with the basic online landscape.
  • Community groups, clubs, or non-profits who need a basic informational website.
  • Digital influencers or creators who want a simple portfolio.
  • Students/hobbyists building a personal website or testing small commercial ideas with no budget.

Hence, you should upgrade to one of the Wix premium plans to start launching a more professional eCommerce website. Why don't you create a Wix website and enjoy Wix's stunning features?

2 – Wix Light Plan

wix light plan

Coming at $17/month, Wix Light plan removes some of the major limitations of the Free plan. This most basic Wix premium plan offers you some features to launch a small website with a custom domain name which is free for 1 year! Along with the free domain, you can also remove Wix Ads to create a website that only displays and emphasizes your brand identity.

Moreover, this Wix pricing plan provides 2GB of storage . Yet, as visitor numbers increase, your website may struggle to page load and data display smoothly. Additionally, the limitation of 2 collaborators may not support the necessary team workflows as your business grows. Websites built using Wix automatically come with HTTPS enabled, securing all data on your site .

Of course, you can add an extra security layer by using VPN for PC or a free VPN site and safeguard your password when logging into the Wix dashboard. Integrating a robust cloud VPN service can further enhance this security, ensuring that all web activities are encrypted and secure, which is particularly important for protecting sensitive user data and business transactions online. More importantly, you can contact Wix's customer care service when you get stuck with any issues related to your website since they offer 24/7 customer care.

With that being said, I see that the Light plan does not actually support eCommerce functionality or payment processing . If you're an online merchant, the Light plan would not be suitable at all. If you focus on online selling rather than a basic website, you will likely find the Core plan.

3 – Wix Core Plan

wix core plan

The Core plan is an interesting middle ground within Wix's tiered offerings. With Wix monthly cost at $29/month , it provides much more functionality than Light plan yet remains slightly more affordable than the higher-level – Business. This Wix pricing plan includes some fundamental functions to help you create and operate a professional website smoothly such as:

  • Basic site analytics
  • Online payments accepted
  • 5 collaborators
  • 25 dropshipping products by Modalyst
  • 50GB storage space

To put it briefly, you can start exploring some exciting eCommerce features in this Wix pricing plan. With a maximum of 50,000 products listed on Wix Stores, your website can showcase limitless products to site visitors and help them shop more easily with the filtering & sorting option. Moreover, the Core pricing package also supports selling subscriptions and collecting recurring payments . Notably, we can accept secure online payments and keep track of all of our transactions on the Wix dashboard.

wix pricing: core plans

On top of that, you can unlock the Abandoned Cart Recovery feature in this tier. It is designed to send automated emails to remind customers about the items that they left in their carts and encourage them to checkout. Selling on social channels and selling on marketplaces are also among the most prominent functions of this pricing plan. At last, there are other interesting eCommerce features that you can explore in this pricing plan, which are:

  • Online booking
  • Ticket and event management
  • Restaurant and online order management
  • Hotel reservation management
  • Fitness business operation
  • Monetize art & content

From a testing perspective, we find Core unlocks the essential eCommerce tools sellers need to gather real customer and sales data .

4 – Wix Business Plan

wix pricing business plan

At the cost of $36/month,  Wix Business plan represents a major step up that unlocks the potential to scale up your online business for an extra $5 over Core. It includes everything you have in Core but with a little upgrade in premium functions. Here are some of the prominent features of the Wix Business plan:

  • 10 collaborators
  • Standard site analytics
  • 100 monthly transactions for automated sales tax calculation with the most current rates across the U.S., EU, and the world.
  • 250 dropshipping products by Modalyst
  • 100GB storage space

I’m impressed by the increased flexibility around site analytics tools . These tools provide actionable insights and efficiencies that empower ambitious independent brands. From my perspective, this tier equips sellers with great opportunities to reach higher sales and expansion . Advanced analytics offer deep insights into business strategies, including traffic sources, customer behavior, and purchases.

Even more, it’s important to focus on collecting and displaying customer feedback on your website to increase your brand credibility. So Wix has included the Kudo Buzz app in this pricing plan to gain and showcase 1000 customer reviews on your Wix eCommerce website. Wix Business plan unlocks an impressive level of capability for a reasonable monthly fee. This tier suits various stores, from specialty niches to large cross-border sellers. I think it strikes an excellent balance of value for e-merchants looking to take their online operations to the next stage.

Kudo Buzz app

For fledgling or mid-market stores, Business plan capabilities may suffice . But Elite plan members can seize unlimited opportunities the online world has to offer.

5 – Wix Business Elite Plan

wix pricing business elite plan

You can get this premium tier at the cost of $159/month . In this Wix pricing plan, you will see that all of Wix eCommerce functions have been optimized at their best . They will help you build a truly elite eCommerce site.

Here are some of the prominent features of the Wix Business Elite plan :

  • 15 collaborators
  • Advanced site analytics & marketing suite
  • Unlimited dropshipping products by Modalyst
  • Unlimited storage space to handle a huge number of web traffic per month.
  • Limitless video hours on your website to increase users' time on site.

To me, it seems that there are some extended benefits that make this pricing plan differ from the previous plan , including:

  • Collecting and displaying 3,000 customer reviews.
  • Automated sales tax calculation for up to 500 transactions/month.
  • Loyalty program for users to get more sales from their current customers through coupons, points, and discounts.

The advanced analytics and customized integrations will give businesses strategic advantages for data-driven decision-making. Along with all the features above, this pricing plan will provide you the priority customer care. It helps you receive faster support from the Wix team after submitting your ticket.

However, the steep $159/month price does raise the bar considerably . While easily justifiable for businesses generating hundreds of millions in eCommerce, it likely exceeds budgets. In my view, Wix Elite grants the world-class infrastructure and tools to optimize online business without limit . However, its value is best reserved for global consumer brands.

6 – Wix Enterprise Plan

wix enterprise pricing plans

You need to contact the Wix Enterprise team to discuss the exact price. This Enterprise plan represents the highest tier of offerings from Wix , designed for companies managing digital presences at a truly massive scale. What stands out to me is the exceptionally customized and flexible nature of the solution. Here are some of the prominent features of the Wix Enterprise plan:

  • A dedicated account manager from Wix.
  • Unlimited website collaborators.
  • Unlimited monthly transactions for automated sales tax calculation.
  • Countless number of product reviews by KudoBuzz.

Wix Enterprise offers personalized templates, integrations, controls, and support tailored for complex businesses . This customization is crucial for large global brands managing vast digital systems. However, this also means that Enterprise requires substantial dedicated resources and budgets to configure and maintain. The plans are not off-the-shelf in any sense.

So, while the potential power and efficiencies it offers are unmatched, Enterprise is really only practical for the absolute online giants . Overall, Wix Enterprise grants exceptional freedom and control for digitally pioneering companies at the very pinnacle of global reach and complexity. But it comes at the steep price of extensive custom work and high costs.

Which Wix Pricing Plan Best Suits Your Needs?

Which Wix plan is best? Here's a recap of the key Wix pricing plans and who they best suit:

  • Free : Individuals or very small businesses who want to test business ideas initially.
  • Light ($17/month): Digital creators of small businesses who want to showcase their work in a personalized way.
  • Core ($29/month): Small online stores that need basic eCommerce functions.
  • Business ($36/month): Mid-sized online brands looking to scale their online business seriously.
  • Business Elite ($159/month) : Online retailers requiring unlimited resources for massive scale.
  • Enterprise : Enterprise-level business that needs full customization and integration control.

Other Wix “Hidden” Costs You Should Know

When we first started our own website on Wix last month, there were more fees we had to cover besides paying for Wix website costs .

1 – Wix Domain Cost

Domain is an essential fee you need to take into consideration when calculating Wix pricing. So, how much does a domain name cost on Wix? In Wix, we can have a website domain without paying any cents while using the free version of this platform. However, owning a custom domain will help you enhance your brand credibility and make your website more memorable to customers. Therefore, we recommend changing to premium pricing versions of Wix to utilize the advantages of the custom domain.

Connect a Wix domain is a hidden wix pricing

All the Wix paid versions allow you to use a custom domain for 1 year free if you pay annually and only start charging a fee afterward. In particular, it will cost you $14.95/year for a .com to maintain your custom domain on your Wix site.

Besides, you can also connect multiple domains to your Wix website.

2 – Wix App & Extension Cost

Secondly, there were app and extension costs. From our perspective, it's clear that Wix has a huge ecosystem of third-party apps. Y ou can integrate these extensions with your website to extend its capability.

Wix App Market

Particularly, Wix App Market provides a variety of tools ranging from eCommerce, marketing, design, content, etc. Many apps on this marketplace are free to use, while the pricing of paid apps will cost you from $2.5 to $499.9 per month .

3 – Wix Processing Fee

Wix uses a transparent tiered fee structure that is competitive with other payment processors . You can receive clear monthly invoices and settlement reports that break down all fees charged at the transaction level. Wix charges a percentage rate plus a flat fee for each transaction processed. The default rates vary by currency/region but are typically in the 1.9-2.9% range. In addition to processing fees, you are charged a fee if a customer files a chargeback. These fees are standardized at the regional level, such as $15 USD. If you, as a Wix merchant, dispute a chargeback claim and win, you'll receive this amount of money back in your account. By refunding the chargeback fee for legitimate disputes, Wix encourages merchants to dispute false claims while also deterring excessive fraudulent disputes . And that's what we truly love in Wix!

4 – Wix POS Pricing

If you're planning on selling in-person, consider POS cost is important for the calculation of Wix pricing.

Wix POS is the all-in-one payment and inventory solution for your brick-and-mortar store. When customers make sales in your physical store, it will automatically sync the product and inventory information with your online store. Therefore, you can smoothly manage your entire business on both online and offline channels.

Wix POS

To make full use of this feature, we need to purchase the hardware integrated with WIX POS software first. A full package of POS hardware will cost you $1495 , and you do not have to pay any additional fees for the POS software. The transaction fee in the US will be 2.6% of the transaction amount. It should be noted that you have to get a Premium pricing plan to start accepting online payments on Wix POS . Once you start collecting payments, Wix will charge you a processing fee via Wix Payment.

5 – Templates Pricing

With more than 800 templates , Wix has become one of the website builder platforms that has the largest template collection compared to other competitors like Shopify, Squarespace, and BigCommerce.

Buy Wix templates that a hidden cost

I've observed that the Wix team has put a lot of effort into market research. They ensure each theme component fits well with different users’ intents. Thankfully, all the Wix templates are free of charge and available for your website decoration.

Ecommerce Plans offers Business Basic, Business Unlimited and Business VIP.

All Ecommerce plans support selling products and services online. Wix does not charge commissions on any of their Ecommerce plans. Also there are no limits on the number of products or service which you can sell on your store

wix business plan cost

Wix Pricing Plans.

As I mentioned before, Wix comes with 7 pricing plans, The Combo plan is the cheapest and starts at 11 USD per month with the Business VIP being the most expensive plan at 35 USD per month. So which plan is right for you? We’ll now break down each Wix plan.

1. Wix Combo Plan ($11 / Month)

Combo is the cheapest premium plan offered by WIX. It costs 11 USD per month if paid annually

Here is what the plan offers.

  • 2GB Bandwidth
  • 3GB Storage
  • Connect your Domain
  • 30 Video Minutes
  • Remove Wix Branding and Adverts

Connect your Own Domain

As you can see, the Combo plan allows you to connect you own domain to your website. It also removes WIX ads from your website.

Get Free Domain with Annual Subscription

The combo plans also offers free domain name if you pick a yearly subscription. Please note that it’s only free for the first year, the domain will be renewed at standard price from next year onward.

Limit of bandwidth and Storage

The combo plan places a limit on the amount of bandwidth and storage.

Storage is consumed when you place data like files, images , graphics etc on your website. On the other hand bandwidth is consumed when someone actually visits your website.

The 3 GB storage ought to be enough for the most small business website. A small business website will find it hard to breach 3 GB storage limit unless you are running a photography related website.

However 2 GB bandwidth limit can be reached quite quickly if your website starts getting popular. 2 GB bandwidth can support around 3000-4000 visitors per month. In case you exceed bandwidth limit, you will get a notification from WIX , prompting you to upgrade to the next higher plan.

2. Wix Unlimited Plan ($14 / Month)

It costs $14 per month if paid annually

  • UNLIMITED Bandwidth
  • 10GB Storage
  • 1 Video Hour
  • Free Domain for 1 Year
  • $300 Ad Vouchers
  • Site Booster App – $60 Value
  • Form Builder App – $48 Value

The Unlimited plan has every thing a website would need expect for an Online Store

No Limit on Bandwidth

The Unlimited plan is VERY similar to the combo plan. The main benefit of the plan is that it offers Unlimited bandwidth , So if you are expecting a good amount of traffic, then you can be rest assured that your website is ready to handle the influx of visitors.

Extra Storage and Perks

In addition to bandwidth it also offer 10 GB storage , 300 USD in Ad vouchers, and 2 additional apps totally free of cost. The bundled Form Builder app can be really useful if you plan to generate leads room your website. One thing to note here is that you can add a basic contact form in combo plan also.

3. Wix Pro Plan ($19/month)

Pro plan is priced at 19 USD / month.

  • UNLIMITED Bandwidth
  • 20GB Storage
  • Connect Your Domain
  • 2 Video Hours
  • Remove Wix Ads
  • Events Calendar – $48 Value
  • Professional Logo – $50 Value
  • Social Media Logo files

Wix has recently introduced a pro plan. In Pro plan you get additional apps like Event Calendar and Wix logo maker. You can created a professionally looking logo using the logo maker app. Not only this, you will also get 40+ different sizes of your logo ready to use on all your social media channels.

Now the question is , is it worth paying extra for access to a professional logo making app? And the answer as always is: It depends .

If you business is not a very heavy user of social media, then you can simply use a free logo maker and get a professional looking logo at no extra cost. If you already have a designer then you certainly don’t need a logo maker app. So you might not find value in the logo maker app.

If you are a service business like Gym, Salon, Therapist etc then you may find good value in the bundled Event Calendar App. It will let you quickly display your schedule on your website.

So if you have never used an online calendar app then this may be a good time to try one. Again if you have already been using an app like Google Calendar etc. then you may not be interested in the bundled event calendar app.

Recommended For:

The Pro plan is recommend Small Business websites, Portfolio Websites, Image heavy websites. The only thing this plan offers over Unlimited is access to the WIX logo maker and Event Calendar App. . If you want t professional logo and dont want to deal with the hassle of hiring a designers, then you can go with it. If you are a Service based business and want to try out an online calendar solution, then also you can give it a try. I personally do not believe that Pro offers great value over Unlimited Plan

4. Wix VIP Plan ($29/month)

  • Priority Response
  • VIP Support

VIP plan is priced at 29 USD / month , which is double that of the Unlimited plan.

The VIP plan has all the features offered in Pro plan with One additional benefit, Priority Support .

Priority / VIP Support : If you hate waiting in the queues then you will love the VIP support. If you submit a query then your support tickets and support calls are automatically pushed to the front. So if you are on VIP plan, then it ensures that your queries always receive priority over other Wix users.

You might be thinking if it is worth paying extra to receive Priority support.

In my opinion , if you website plays an integral part in your business / lead generation strategy, then paying extra for prompt support is a no-brainer. Imagine that you have a big launch coming up and you are stuck on a technical issue. In such cases receiving helpful and prompt support can be the difference between a successful launch and a failure.

VIP plan will be most useful for business who are already successful and understand how having an online presence benefits their business.

If your Online Presence is a core part of your business and lead generation, then the VIP plan comes highly recommended. With the VIP plan you are paying for the Guarantee that your support tickets will get priority in the queue. If you believe time is money then VIP plan is a perfect fit for you.

5. Wix Business Basic Plan ($20/month)

  • Accept Online Payments
  • 100% Commission FREE
  • 5 Video Hours
  • Google Analytics

The Business Basic plan is priced at 20 USD / Month

All Wix E commerce plans are commission free. It means that Wix does not charge any processing fee on the transactions. You only pay the processing fee to the payment gateway.

If you’re just starting up a standard online store, this is the cheapest option for you. It has all the standard features which are available in the website plan. In addition it has 20 GB storage and 5 Video hours.

There are no limitations to the number of products which you can add and sell online. You may add physical products which require shipping as well as digital products which do not require any shipping. Overall Business basic plan can be ideal which you are just starting out or testing the waters with eCommerce.

For business who want to build a basic Online Store. 20 GB storage is ought to be enough for business just starting out and with Unlimited bandwidth, you can focus on growing your store without worrying about running out of bandwidth.

6. Wix Business Unlimited Plan ($25/month)

  • All Features in Business Basic plan
  • Plus 35 GB Storage
  • Plus 10 Video Hours
  • Plus Professional Logo – $50 Value
  • Plus Social Media Logo Files

The Business Unlimited plan is priced at 25 USD / Month

The Business Unlimited plan is effectively same as the Business basic plan with extra storage and Video Hours. It also offers access to a professional logo maker which will also give you social network optimized logo files. If you plan to run a medium seized store, then this plan can be a good choice

Ideally suited for growing business. With extra storage available this plan can handle a decently large collection of products. The included logo maker app can be a welcome addition if you do not want to hire designers for creating a logo, however, if you are a business which plan to sell a large number of products online, then chances are you already have logo and basic branding things taken care of.

7. Wix Business VIP Plan ($35/month)

  • All Features in Business Unlimited plan
  • Plus 50 GB Storage
  • Plus Unlimited Video Hours
  • Plus Priority Response
  • Plus VIP Support

The Business VIP plan is priced at $35/ Month

In my opinion, Business VIP plan is geared towards stores which are already successful. The unlimited Video hours mean that you can go all in with the Video Marketing strategy for your store.

With Priority response, you can be sure that your queries will be handled with highest priority. VIP support means that you as a business owner, has to spend less time in managing the store. It frees up your and your teams valuable time which can be used in actually growing your business.

Ideally suited for established and large business. You are past the startup phase, have found the product market fit and are ready to step on the accelerator. You are ready to invest in Video Marketing for your business. You prefer immediate response to your support queries. You are at the stage where Time is more important than money. If it sounds like you , the go with Business VIP plan!

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the most common questions regarding Wix Pricing. If you have a specific questions pls feel free to ask in the comments.

1. Does Wix offer Free trial?

Technically speaking, Wix does not offer a free trial. What Wix offers is a 14 day money back guarantee. It means that in case you are unhappy for any reason and you end up cancelling withing first 14 days, you will get a full refund.

This is different from a free trial. Generally in free trial you get get access to premium feature without paying for them upfront. This is a minor difference but worth noting. I would suggest you to visit this link to know more about Wix Money Back policy

This along with the totally free plan means there aren’t any surprises when you sign up with Wix. Just remember if you purchase a domain name, this will not be included in the refund.

2. Does Wix offer a free plan?

Yes Wix offers a free plan. However I find the free plan quite useless. It wont let you connect you own domain to your website. Also Wix inserts huge ads on website made with free plan. You can try free plan to get a feel of features and Wix capability, but if you want a professional online presence, you will definitely need to upgrade.

3. Should you subscribe to monthly plan or annual plan?

Wix plans are available in 2 payment modes, Annual or Monthly. You are free to select between Annual or Monthly plans.

The annual plans are priced much more attractively than monthly plans . Firstly, the annual plans are 20% cheaper than the monthly plans. For example the Annual business basic plan will cost you 20 USD / month while the Monthly Business basic plan will cost you 25 USD / month. The annual plans also come with a lot of additional perks. For example, the Annual Business basic plan give you access to Ad Vouchers, Free Domain and Premium apps.

Refer to the screenshot

4. What are the Domain Name costs?

Wix offer free domain for 1 year with all the annual plans. However you must understand that after the first year, you’ll need pay for domain renewal fees.

With Wix the annual renewal fee is $14.95 per year.

This is pricier when compared to domain registrars like Name cheap, where the domain renewal fee is around $10 per year. However in my opinion this is not really not a significant cost for a business. Here are more details on Wix Domain Costs

5. How to get Personalized Email Address?

Wix does not offer a native mailbox solution.

Wix has partnered with Google and it offers Business Mailboxes through G Suite. G Suite is a collection of business apps which includes Email, Chat App, Docs, Spreadsheet etc.

If you have used Gmail, then you will feel at home with G Suite. So if you decide to go with Gsuite, you can easily setup and configure your custom email address right inside Wix dashboard.

G Suite is priced at $5 / month / email. We personally use G Suite across all of our businesses.

6. What about Email Marketing?

Wix offers a suite of Marketing tools under the Wix Ascend platform. It includes tools like Email Marketing, Lead Capture Forms, Submission forms, Social Media Posting .

With Ascend, you get access of multiple marketing tools right inside the Wix dashboard. Even though specialized marketing tools like Mailchimp are more powerful, Wix Ascend will a good choice for small business who do not want the hassle of managing multiple tools.

It is priced quite reasonably. The annual plans range from $10 per month to $49 per month.

Summary and Conclusion

Wix is the most popular website builder and its prices are competitive. Platforms like Wix have made beautiful online presence within reach of every small business.

Wix is not a cheap platform but its price is very reasonable.

It has a great collection of beautiful looking themes. So with Wix, it is easy to make a good looking website. The feature and perks like premium apps, ad vouchers, free domain offer great value for your money.

If you just want a website, I recommend going with the Combo Plan, as it can be sufficient for av average website. Of course you can upgrade in case your traffic and popularity increases in future. For E-commerce users who sell goods and service online I recommend starting with the Business basic Plan. It has everything which you will need to start selling online. Not to mention, you can always upgrade later on.

All in all Wix is a very good platform and is priced competitively.

Since we’re transferring huge chunks of our everyday lives into the internet realm, having an online presence is the bare minimum for practically every business and brand. However, not every entrepreneur is a seasoned coder or can afford to hire a professional web developing team, which is where Wix comes in .

Reddit is a great place to learn more about Wix. Here are a few Reddit posts that I think you’ll find interesting. Check them out and join the discussion!

Pros and Cons

  • Easy to Use – To get started, you can pick a template you like and start adjusting it to your liking with the help of the drag-and-drop editor. All you need to do to add a design element to your site is drag and drop it where you see fit. No need to worry about coding at all!
  • Wide Selection of Website Templates – Wix gives its users access to more than 500 professionally designed and fully editable templates. You can browse Wix’s main categories ( Business & Services , Store , Creative , Community , and Blog ) or search for specific templates by entering keywords in the ‘Search all templates…’ bar.
  • Fast Website Design With Wix ADI – In 2016, Wix launched its Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI). Simply put, this is a tool that builds an entire website based on your answers and preferences, thus saving you the trouble of coming up with a website concept and executing it.
  • Free and Paid Apps for Extra Functionality – Wix has an amazing market with both free and paid apps that can make your site more user-friendly and accessible. Depending on the type of your website, Wix will select a few options for you, but you can also explore all the apps through the search bar as well as the main categories (Marketing , Sell Online , Services & Events , Media & Content , Design Elements , and Communication ).
  • Free SSL for All Plans – SSL certificates are a must for all businesses and organizations as the secure sockets layer (SSL) protects online transactions and secures customer information.
  • Free Hosting for All Plans – Wix provides its users with fast, secure, and reliable hosting at no extra charge. Wix hosts all the sites on a global content delivery network (CDN) , meaning your site’s visitors are directed to the server closest to them, which leads to short site loading times. You don’t have to install anything; your free web hosting will set up automatically the minute you publish your website.
  • Mobile Site SEO Optimization – Many freelancers, entrepreneurs, content managers, and small business owners overlook the importance of mobile SEO. But having an SEO-friendly mobile version of your site is an absolute must today and Wix knows it. That’s why this wix website builder features a mobile editor. It allows you to improve your mobile website’s performance and loading time by hiding certain design elements and adding mobile-only ones, resizing your mobile text, rearranging your page sections, and using the Page Layout Optimizer.
  • Free Plan Is Limited – Wix’s free plan is rather limited. It provides up to 500MB of storage and the same amount of MB for bandwidth (limited bandwidth can negatively impact your site’s speed and accessibility).
  • Free Plan Doesn’t Include a Custom Domain Name – The free package comes with an assigned URL in the following format: accountname.wixsite.com/siteaddress . To get rid of the Wix subdomain and connect your unique domain name to your Wix website, you must purchase one of Wix’s premium plans.
  • Free and Connect Domain Plans Show Wix Ads – Another annoying detail about the free plan is the display of Wix ads on every page. In addition to this, the Wix favicon appears in the URL. This is the case with the Connect Domain plan as well.
  • Premium Plan Covers Only One Site – You can create multiple sites under a single Wix account , but each site will have to have its own premium plan if you want to connect it with a unique domain name.
  • Migrating From Wix Is Complicated – If you ever decide to move your site from Wix to another content management system (WordPress, for example) due to its limitations, you’ll probably need to consult and/or hire an expert to do the job. That’s because Wix is a closed platform and you’ll need to transfer the content from your website by importing the Wix RSS feed (a summary of updates from your site).

TL;DR Despite its drawbacks, Wix is an excellent website builder for beginners . Thanks to its intuitive interface and multiple free and paid tools, this platform allows you to bring your website vision to life (and maintain it) without having to write a single line of code.

Key Features

Large library of website templates.

wix templates

As a Wix user, you have access to more than 800 gorgeous professionally designed website templates . These are divided into 5 main categories ( Business & Services , Store , Creative , Community , and Blog ) to meet specific needs.

You can discover subcategories by simply hovering over the primary category encompassing the type of website you want to launch.

If you have a really detailed idea that none of Wix’s existing templates seems to match, you can choose a blank template and let your creative juices flow.

You can start from scratch and pick all the elements, styles, and details yourself.

wix blank starter template

However, the blank page approach might be too time-consuming for multi-page and content-heavy websites as you’ll have to design each page individually.

Drag-and-Drop Editor

wix drag and drop editor

One of the main reasons for Wix’s increasing popularity is, of course, its drag-and-drop editor .

Once you choose the right Wix template for your online store, blog, portfolio, or tech company (you can narrow down your options by filling in the type of website you want to build at the very beginning), the Wix editor will allow you to make all the adjustments you want. You can:

  • Add text, images, galleries, videos and music, social media bars, contact forms, Google Maps, Wix chat button, and many other elements;
  • Choose a color theme and edit the colors;
  • Change page backgrounds;
  • Upload media from your social platform profiles (Facebook and Instagram), your Google Photos, or your computer;
  • Add apps to your website to make it more functional and user-friendly (more on Wix’s app market below).

Wix ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence)

Wix ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence)

Wix’s ADI is practically a magic wand for creating a professional website . You literally don’t have to move a single design element.

All you need to do is answer a few simple questions and make a few simple choices (onsite features, theme, homepage design, etc.), and Wix ADI will design a beautiful site for you in just a few minutes.

This is ideal for both beginners and tech-savvy business owners who want to save time and build their online presence as soon as possible.

Built-in SEO Tools

wix seo tools

Wix doesn’t overlook the immense importance of SEO optimization and SERP rankings . The robust SEO toolset this website builder provides is proof of that. Here are some of the most useful SEO features every Wix website comes with:

  • Robots.txt Editor — Since Wix creates a robots.txt file for your website automatically, this SEO tool allows you to change it to better inform Googlebots how to crawl and index your Wix site.
  • SSR (Server Side Rendering) — The Wix SEO suite includes SSR as well. This means that Wix’s server sends data directly to the browser. In other words, Wix generates an optimized and dedicated version of your website pages, which helps bots crawl and index your content more easily (the content can be rendered before the page is loaded). SSR yields multiple benefits, including faster page loading, better user experience, and higher search engine rankings.
  • Bulk 301 Redirects — The URL Redirect Manager allows you to create permanent 301 redirects for numerous URLs. Simply upload your own CSV file and import a maximum of 500 URLs. Don’t worry, Wix will notify you via an error message if you made a mistake setting up the redirects or if there’s a 301 loop.
  • Custom Meta Tags — Wix generates SEO-friendly page titles, descriptions, and open graph (OG) tags. However, you can further optimize your pages for Google and other search engines by customizing and changing your meta tags.
  • Image Optimization — Another strong reason why Wix is the perfect site builder for beginners is the image optimization feature. Wix automatically reduces your image file size without sacrificing quality to maintain short page load times and ensure a better user experience.
  • Smart Caching — To shorten your site loading times and improve your visitor’s browsing experience, Wix automatically caches static pages. This makes Wix one of the fastest website builders on the market.
  • Google Search Console Integration — This feature allows you to confirm domain ownership and submit your sitemap to GSC.
  • Google My Business Integration — Having a Google My Business profile is the key to local SEO success. Wix allows you to set up and manage your profile using your Wix dashboard. You can easily update your company info, read, and reply to customer reviews, and increase your web presence.

You can also connect your Wix website with essential marketing tools such as Google Analytics , Google Ads , Google Tag Manager , Yandex Metrica , and Facebook Pixel & CAPI .

Site speed matters greatly for SEO performance, user experience, and conversion rates (users expect, and demand, that your website loads fast!)

Wix takes care of this, because as of June 2024, Wix is the fastest website builder in the industry .

Wix App Market

Wix app market

Wix’s impressive app store lists more than 600+ apps , including:

  • Wix Pro Gallery;
  • Wix Site Booster;
  • Social Stream;
  • 123 Form Builder;
  • Wix Stores (one of the best eCommerce features);
  • Wix Bookings (for premium plans only);
  • Event Viewer;
  • Weglot Translate;
  • Get Google Ads;
  • Wix Pricing Plans;
  • Paid Plan Comparison;
  • PayPal Button;
  • Customer Reviews; and
  • Form Builder & Payments.

Let’s take a close look at four of the most practical and handy Wix apps: Wix Chat, Event Viewer, Wix Stores, and Wix Bookings.

The Wix Chat app is a free communication app developed by Wix. This online business solution gives you the chance to interact with your visitors by getting notifications every time someone enters your site.

This is an extremely useful feature because it allows you to build and nurture your customer relationships which can lead to more sales. Plus, you can chat with your visitors from both your computer and your phone.

The Event Viewer app is a must if you’re an event organizer. It allows you to sync to many ticketing and streaming apps, including Ticket Tailor, Reg Fox, Eventbrite, Ticket Spice, and Ovation Tix.

But my favorite thing about Event Viewer is that it enables you to integrate with Twitch and broadcast your live streams. If you’re not sure whether this app suits your needs, you can take advantage of the 15-day free trial and see how it goes.

The Wix Stores app is used by more than 7 million businesses across the globe. It allows you to set up a professional online store with custom product pages, manage orders, shipping, fulfillment, and finances, get your sales tax automatically calculated, monitor inventory, offer your customers in-cart previews, and sell on Facebook , Instagram , and across other channels.

The Wix Booking app is a great solution for companies and individuals who offer one-on-one appointments, intro calls, classes, workshops, etc. It helps you manage your schedule, employees, attendance, and clients from any device and gives you the chance to receive secure online payments for your services. This app is available worldwide for $17 per month.

Site Contacts

site contacts

Wix’s Site Contacts feature is a convenient way to manage all of your website’s contacts . By clicking on ‘Contacts’ in the ‘Ascend by Wix’ section of your dashboard, you’ll be able to:

  • View all your contacts and their info in a separate contact card (email address, phone number, the products or services they’ve bought, and any special notes),
  • Filter your contacts by labels or subscribed status, and
  • Grow your contact list by importing contacts (from a Gmail account or as a CSV file) or adding new contacts manually.

I really like the fact that when someone completes a contact form on your site, subscribes to your newsletter, purchases a product from your online store, or interacts with your website in some other way, they are automatically added to your contact list with the information they provided.

This tool comes in handy when you want to get in touch with your current and potential customers through a powerful email marketing campaign . Speaking of…

Wix Email Marketing

Wix email marketing tools

The Wix Email Marketing tool is part of Wix Ascend — a built-in suite of marketing and customer management tools. It’s an amazing feature every business needs because it helps you create and send effective email marketing campaigns to engage your target audience and boost website traffic.

By sending regular updates and announcements about special promotions, you’ll remind your contacts you’re here and have plenty to offer.

email newsletter

The Wix Email Marketing tool features an intuitive editor that helps you write mobile-friendly emails with ease.

What’s more, this tool allows you to set up automatic email campaigns and monitor their success in real-time, with the help of the integrated data analytics tool (delivery rate, open rate, and clicks).

There’s a catch, though. Every premium Wix plan comes with a pre-installed limited Ascend plan. To make the most of Wix Email Marketing, you’ll need to upgrade your Ascend plan (no, Ascend plans and Wix premium plans aren’t the same thing).

The Professional Ascend Plan is the most popular one and is perfect for entrepreneurs and business owners who want to generate high-value leads through email marketing. This plan costs $24 a month and includes:

  • Ascend branding removal;
  • 20 email marketing campaigns a month;
  • Up to 50k emails a month;
  • Campaign scheduling;
  • Campaign URLs connected to your unique domain name.

I admit that the fact the Wix Email Marketing feature isn’t part of Wix’s premium site plans is annoying. However, Wix gives you the chance to test-drive the Ascend plan of your choice and receive a full refund within 14 days.

When it comes to startups, Wix is practically a one-stop shop. In addition to building your website without the bother of coding, Wix also allows you to create a professional logo and thus develop a unique brand identity.

The Logo Maker feature gives you two options: make a logo yourself or hire an expert.

If you choose to test your logo-making skills, you’ll start by adding the name of your business or organization.

Wix's free logo maker

Once you select your industry/niche, decide how your logo should look and feel (dynamic, fun, playful, modern, timeless, creative, techy, fresh, formal, and/or hipster), and answer where you intend to use your logo (on your website, business cards, merchandise, etc.).

Wix’s Logo Maker will design multiple logos for you. You can, of course, pick one and customize it. Here’s one of the logo designs Wix whipped up for my site (with a few minor changes by me):

logo example

This is a great option if you’re on a tight budget and can’t afford to hire a professional web designer . The only annoying thing about this feature is that you must purchase a premium plan to be able to download and use it. Plus, Wix’s logo plans are valid for one logo only.

Plans & Pricing

As this Wix review has pointed out, Wix is a great website-building platform for newbies , but there are also plans suitable for more experienced entrepreneurs and business owners. See my Wix pricing page for an in-depth comparison of every plan.

Wix’s free package is 100% free, but it has many limitations, which is why I strongly recommend using it for a short period. You can use Wix free plan to familiarize yourself with the best website builder’s basic features and tools and get an idea of how you can curate your web presence with them.

Once you’re certain this platform is a good fit for you, you should consider upgrading to one of Wix’s premium plans.

The Free Plan includes:

  • 500MB of storage space;
  • 500MB of bandwidth;
  • Assigned URL with Wix subdomain;
  • Wix ads and Wix favicon in your URL;
  • Non-priority customer support.

This plan is ideal for: everyone who wants to explore and test-drive the Wix free website builder before switching to a premium plan or going with another website building platform.

Connect Domain Plan

This is the most basic paid plan Wix offers (but it’s not available in every location). It costs only $4.50 a month , but it has plenty of drawbacks. The appearance of Wix ads, the limited bandwidth (1GB), and the lack of a visitor analytics app are the most significant ones.

The Connect Domain Plan comes with:

  • The option to connect a unique domain name;
  • A free SSL certificate that protects sensitive information;
  • 24/7 customer care.

This plan is ideal for: personal use as well as businesses and organizations that are just entering the online world and haven’t decided what their website’s main purpose is yet.

Wix’s Combo Plan is slightly better than the previous package. If the Connect Domain Plan suits your needs but the display of Wix ads is a dealbreaker for you, then this is the perfect choice for you.

From just $16/month you’ll be able to remove Wix ads from your site. Plus, you’ll have:

  • Free custom domain for a year (if you purchase a yearly subscription or higher);
  • Free SSL certificate;
  • 3GB of storage space;
  • 30 video minutes;

This plan is ideal for: professionals who want to establish their brand’s credibility with the help of a unique domain name but don’t need to add much content to the site (a landing page , a simple blog , etc.).

Unlimited Plan

The Unlimited Plan is by far the most popular Wix package. Its affordability is only one of the reasons for this. From $22/month , you’ll be able to:

  • Connect your Wix site with a unique domain name;
  • Receive a free domain voucher for 1 year (if you purchase a yearly subscription or higher);
  • 10 GB web storage space;
  • $75 Google Ads credit;
  • Remove Wix ads from your site;
  • Showcase and stream videos (1 hour);
  • Rank higher in search results with the help of the Site Booster app;
  • Access to the Visitor Analytics app and Events Calendar app
  • Enjoy 24/7 priority customer support.

This plan is ideal for: entrepreneurs and freelancers who want to attract high-quality customers/clients.

Wix’s Pro plan is a step up from the previous plan, giving you access to more apps. From $45/month you’ll get:

  • Free domain for a year (valid for select extensions);
  • Unlimited bandwidth;
  • 20GB of disk space;
  • 2 hours to showcase and stream your videos online;
  • Professional logo with full commercial rights and social media sharing files;
  • Priority customer care.

This plan is best suited for : brands that care about online branding, videos, and social media.

Wix’s VIP Plan is the ultimate package for professional sites. From $45/month you’ll have:

  • 35GB of storage space;
  • 5 video hours;

This plan is ideal for: professionals and experts who want to build an exceptional web presence.

Business Basic Plan

The Business Basic Plan is a must if you want to set up an online store and accept online payments. This package costs $27 per month and includes:

  • 20 GB file storage space;
  • Secure online payments and convenient transaction management via the Wix dashboard;
  • Customer accounts and fast checkout;
  • Free domain voucher for a full year (if you purchase a yearly subscription or higher);
  • Wix ad removal;

This plan is ideal for: small and local businesses that want to receive secure online payments.

Business Unlimited Plan

Wix’s Business Unlimited Plan costs $32 a month and includes:

  • Free domain voucher for a whole year (if you purchase a yearly subscription or higher);
  • 35 GB file storage space;
  • $75 Google search advertising credit
  • 10 video hours;
  • Local currency display;
  • Automated sales tax calculation for 100 transactions per month;
  • Automated email reminders to customers that abandoned their shopping carts;
  • 24/7 customer support.

This plan is ideal for: entrepreneurs and business owners who want to expand their operations/grow their company.

Business VIP Plan

The Business VIP Plan is the richest eCommerce plan the website builder offers. For $59 per month , you’ll be able to:

  • 50 GB file storage space;
  • Unlimited hours for showcasing and streaming your videos online;
  • Showcase an unlimited number of products and collections;
  • Accept secure online payments;
  • Sell subscriptions and collect recurring payments;
  • Sell on Facebook and Instagram;
  • Automate sales tax calculation for 500 transactions a month;
  • Have unlimited bandwidth and limitless video hours;
  • Enjoy priority customer care.

This plan is ideal for: large online stores and businesses that want to equip their websites with useful apps and tools for an amazing onsite brand experience.

Compare Wix Competitors

Here’s a comparison table of Wix and its competitors, including Squarespace, Shopify, Webflow, Site123, and Duda:

  • Squarespace : Squarespace is known for its aesthetically pleasing and artistically driven templates. It’s ideal for creatives and small business owners who value design aesthetics. The platform offers unlimited storage and video streaming on specific plans, but its template variety is less compared to Wix. Read our Squarespace review here .
  • Shopify : Shopify is a strong contender for e-commerce focused businesses. Its platform is specifically tailored for online stores and offers comprehensive e-commerce tools and capabilities. Although it has a higher starting price, it provides unlimited products and storage, making it suitable for growing online businesses. Read our Squarespace review here .
  • Webflow : Webflow is a good option for users who want customizable web designs and are willing to delve into more technical aspects of website building. It offers a mix of design flexibility and e-commerce capabilities, but its template variety and video streaming capabilities depend on third-party apps. Read our Webflow review here .
  • Site123 : Site123 is known for its simplicity and ease of use, making it suitable for beginners or those who need to set up a straightforward site quickly. It offers basic functionality with limited templates, making it a less versatile option compared to others but a good starting point for simple projects. Read our Site123 review here .
  • Duda : Duda is particularly suited for creating multilingual sites and is used often by web design professionals and agencies. It provides a good range of templates and features tailored for professional use, but its focus is less on individual small business owners or hobbyists. Read our Duda review here .

wix reviews 2024

Wix reigns supreme in the ‘website builders for beginners’ category. Despite its limitations, Wix’s free website builder is a fantastic choice for those who are just entering the internet world and don’t want to know the first thing about coding.

With its impressive design template collection, user-friendly interface, and rich app market, Wix makes creating professional websites an easy and enjoyable task.

Who should choose Wix?  It is best suited for small to medium-sized businesses or individuals with limited budgets and minimal technical skills who require a comprehensive e-commerce platform. It offers an easy-to-use interface and a variety of customizable templates, making it a practical choice for those seeking to create a professional online store without extensive web development experience.

I hope you found this expert editorial Wix review helpful!

Recent Improvements & Updates

Wix constantly improves its features and functionality with more integrations, better security, and enhanced customer support. Here are just some of the recent improvements (last checked June 2024):

  • Afterpay Integration : Users can now offer a “buy now, pay later” option through Afterpay, available via Wix Payments. This feature allows customers to pay in installments while businesses receive full payment upfront, all manageable through the Wix Dashboard.
  • Adobe Express for Digital Creations : Wix has integrated Adobe Express into its Media Manager, providing access to advanced design features for editing media elements on websites.
  • Google Pay for Fast Checkout : To reduce abandoned carts, Wix now includes Google Pay as a checkout option, enabling quicker payment processes for online shoppers.
  • Tap to Pay on Android : This addition to Wix’s Point of Sale (POS) solutions allows users to accept payments using an Android smartphone or tablet, enhancing mobile payment capabilities.
  • Site-Level SEO Assistant : Wix has introduced an SEO tool that provides audits, actions, and recommendations to improve a site’s search performance and overall SEO health.
  • Tap to Pay on iPhone : Wix has enabled contactless payments through the iPhone. Users can download the Wix Owner app and accept various types of contactless payments without additional hardware.
  • Wix Video Maker Powered by Vimeo : This feature allows users to create unlimited free videos for business promotion, offering a variety of templates and customization options including music and overlays.
  • Faster Data Retrieval with Indexing : Wix has updated its data retrieval process, enabling faster querying and preventing duplicate data creation by adding indexes to collections.

Reviewing Wix: Our Methodology

When we review website builders we look at several key aspects. We assess the intuitiveness of the tool, its feature set, the speed of website creation, and other factors. The primary consideration is the ease of use for individuals new to website setup. In our testing, our evaluation is based on these criteria:

  • Customization : Does the builder allow you to modify template designs or incorporate your own coding?
  • User-Friendliness : Are the navigation and tools, such as the drag-and-drop editor, easy to use?
  • Value for Money : Is there an option for a free plan or trial? Do paid plans offer features that justify the cost?
  • Security : How does the builder protect your website and data about you and your customers?
  • Templates : Are the templates of high quality, contemporary, and varied?
  • Support : Is assistance readily available, either through human interaction, AI chatbots, or informational resources?

Customers Think

I’ve been using Wix for my small business website for the past year, and I’m really impressed with its user-friendly interface and flexibility. The variety of templates allowed me to create a site that truly reflects my brand without needing any background in web design. The drag-and-drop feature made it incredibly easy to customize pages to my liking. Also, the customer support has been helpful whenever I had questions. The pricing is reasonable, especially considering the range of features and the ease of integrating e-commerce. I highly recommend Wix to anyone looking to create a professional-looking website without the complexity or high costs often associated with web development.

Made for beginners

Wix is great for starter sites but it’s not enough to build an online business. It may be enough for small businesses who just want to throw something up and forget about it. But I find that after 2 years, I have outgrown Wix and will need to move my content to a WordPress site. It’s great for beginners and small businesses though.

Avatar for Miguel O

I love how easy Wix makes building professional-looking websites on your own. I started my site using a pre-made template I found on Wix. All I had to do was change the text and images. Now it looks better than the site my friend got from a freelancer after spending more than a thousand dollars.

Avatar for Timmy

Easy site builder

Wix is the easiest way to build a website on your own. I have tried other website builders but most of them had too many advanced features that I didn’t need. Wix offers a free domain and everything else you need to run an online business.

Avatar for Lord M

Wix is a bit pricey

Wix is popular but what I don’t like about it is that the plan starts at $10. For someone starting a business from scratch, this is not a smart move. Although the features are cool, I would rather go for low-priced alternatives than this one.

Avatar for Franz M

Wix is Just Fair

The starting price that Wix offers is just fair for the features and the freebies that you’ll get. If you want to get a better service, then Wix is the right one for you., Yet, if you’re not willing to pay for a Wix plan, then it’s up to you.

As of May, 2023, Wix has changed its premium plan offering and now features one free plan with branding and ads, and four—rather than eight—paid plans, plus an Enterprise level plan—to accommodate its various users. Each Wix pricing plan comes with a set of unique features, but the most striking change is that all tiers, including the free plan, offer some degree of marketing capability. Let’s first take a look at the new plans.

Wix Lite Plan ($16 per month)

The Wix Lite plan is the first of Wix’s paid plans. This $16 per month plan is designed for personal use. It includes a custom domain that helps build your brand’s credibility, a free domain for one year, 2GB of storage space and 30 minutes of video.

The Lite plan also removes Wix ads that appear in the free plan and comes with 24/7 customer care. This plan looks more professional than the free plan and is perfect for portfolios, CVs and personal websites.

Wix Core Plan ($33 per month)

The next step up is Wix’s Core plan, which is geared towards entrepreneurs and freelancers. At $33 per month, users get everything in the Lite plan plus a free year of the Site Booster app that will help your website to rank in search, and tools to build your logo in 40 different sizes for various social media formats.

But storage and video is where upgraders to Core will really notice the difference from Lite.  This plan takes the amount of storage space from 2GB to 50GB and upgrades video time from 30 minutes to five hours.

Wix Business Plan ($49 per month)

Wix advertises the Business plan as its ‘recommended’ premium plan. At $49 a month, the plan includes all the features of the Core plan with an upgrade to 100GB of storage space and 10 hours of video.

While it is good value for money at only $16 more than the previous plan per month for the benefits of so much extra storage space and video time, it doesn’t come with priority support, only 24/7 customer care, which may be a draw card for high-traffic blogs. Instead, this plan may be better suited towards small businesses looking to expand their online presence before investing more money.

Wix Business Elite Plan ($179 per month)

The new Wix Business Elite plan is the best and priciest of the paid plans at $179 a month. For those easily frustrated with technical issues, the plan includes priority customer care, which allows you to skip the queue for VIP telephone support. This is especially valuable for busy entrepreneurs who do not want to waste time ‘on hold’.

Unlimited drop shipping is also available, as is the ability to collect and post customer reviews and offer 10 additional currencies for global transactions. Most of all, storage and video is unlimited.

The large amount of storage space and priority one-on-one help make it a great option for growing businesses who attract significant business.

In addition to the Business Elite Plan, there is one higher tier, called an Enterprise Plan, which offers a price on request. The hallmark of this plan is the dedicated account manager,  the custom SSL certificate (not available on other plans), multi-site management platform, custom templates and integrations, and product training. As you may have guessed this tier is usually reserved for larger-scale businesses.

Wix's Premium Plans: What's Included

Wix has streamlined its premium plan offer into four tiers, plus an Enterprise level, thereby reducing the number of options down from eight. While previously only the Ascend Premium plan offered marketing tools—think lead-capture forms, social media marketing and automations—now all premium plans have this suite of capabilities. You can send up to 200 emails a month, or, if you require more than this quota, you can buy a standalone email marketing package .

The entirely new Business Elite tier is designed for high-traffic and larger businesses, and at $179 per month, is a step up in cost from the other premium plans. It offers an advanced developer platform, designed for data-heavy businesses that manage a lot of traffic (or a lot of their clients’ traffic.)

Unlike many website builders, Wix does offer a free plan. The plan includes up to 500MB of storage and bandwidth and online customer support. Users can still create a stunning website with this plan, but they will not be able to create a custom domain name and Wix ads will appear on every page.

This version is one of the best free website builders on the market and is a good option for those wanting to dip their toes in the website creation waters without committing to a paid service. You can read more in our complete guide to the best free website builders for Australians.

Wix Domain Cost

To have a custom domain name for your website, you’ll need to pay a separate annual cost. The monthly cost for a paid Wix plan only covers website hosting. Domain prices vary depending on the type of domain extension, the length of your term, the level of privacy protection and your local currency and tax laws.

However, if you sign up for a yearly premium website builder plan, it will likely come with a one-year domain voucher. This means you’ll get a free custom domain for one year, after which time you’ll need to pay to renew it. Pay close attention to the parameters you choose when registering for the first time, so that you can save up and be prepared for this fee a year later.

Wix Email Cost

If you want your email address to contain your website’s domain name, e.g.,  [email protected]  instead of  [email protected] , you can purchase a professional email mailbox through Google Workspace.

If you have multiple members on your team, you’ll need to purchase separate mailboxes for each email address.

Wix's Marketing Suite

Ascend by Wix helps you market your business with email marketing, lead form captures, social media scheduling and more. It plugs in directly to your Wix site, so you can view insights and build automations without leaving Wix. Previously Wix’s marketing tools were only available on the top-tier plans, but now all plans, including Wix’s free version, have some form of marketing capability.  Depending on the plan, you have a set monthly allowance of emails to send to recipients per month. The free plan confines you to 200 emails per month, while the Core plan allows up to 5,000. You can read more about the Wix marketing suite here .

Premium Apps

Wix has more than 300 apps and business tools that you can use to enhance the functionality of your website. But if you want premium apps, you’ll need to pay. You can try the free version of an app before you decide to invest in the paid version.

Keep in mind that Wix will auto-renew any subscriptions to paid apps, so if you decide to cancel, you’ll need to visit your account settings.
