  • For each character of recommended Path dispatched, an extra reward will be given at the end of the assignment.
  • Each character can only be dispatched on one assignment at a time.
  • You can determine how long each assignment would take. The more time spent on an assignment, the better the completion rewards.
  • Canceling a dispatched assignment without completing it will immediately release the dispatched characters, but no rewards will be given.
  • As you progress through the story, you will be able to take on more assignments.

Honkai Star Rail Pure Fiction Lexical Enigma

Honkai Star Rail Pure Fiction Lexical Enigma guide: Best teams and tips

Image of Diego Perez

A new Pure Fiction phase is now live in Honkai Star Rail, and Lexical Enigma is yet another DoT-centric challenge. Thankfully, there are quite a few Nihility characters that really excel in this Pure Fiction phase that are easy to obtain.

Best Pure Fiction Teams for Lexical Enigma

Honkai Star Rail Pure Fiction Lexical Enigma Stages

For this phase of Pure Fiction, enemies will take significantly more damage from DoT sources . Plus, enemies inflicted with DoT effects will have their outgoing damage reduced , and their actions will be advanced forward after they’re attacked so they’ll have more turns and take even more DoT damage as a result.

  • Best Stage 1 Teams
  • Best Stage 2 Teams
  • Best Stage 3 Teams
  • Best Stage 4 Teams

Since this isn’t the first DoT-themed Pure Fiction phase we’ve seen in Honkai Star Rail, you should already have an idea of which characters work best here. Kafka and Black Swan are the stars of this Pure Fiction cycle, and other characters like Guinaifen , Hook , Sampo , and Serval are great choices as well.

Honkai Star Rail Pure Fiction Lexical Enigma Teams

As always, the first stage of a Pure Fiction phase only pits you against level 55 enemies so you should be able to easily score three stars as long as you have high-level units with decent gear . Try these teams to cross the 60,000-point threshold on stage one of Lexical Enigma.

The first team relies on Kafka and Serval to inflict DoT effects on enemies while Acheron and Jingliu deal massive damage on their own. Since the enemies are such a low level, you should be able to clear them incredibly fast. Since this team has three Nihility units, the best Cacophony effect is Verification . If you need F2P replacements, then Hook , Pela , and Tingyun are solid alternatives. Just make sure to swap off the Verification Cacophony if you don’t have at least three Nihility units.

The second team is carried by Black Swan and Guiniafen ‘s DoT attacks for the most part, but Asta and Himeko can supply a steady amount of Burns to contribute as well. The best Cacophony buff for this lineup is Argument , which will greatly increase Black Swan’s Arcana output. If you don’t have Black Swan or Himeko, then you can swap in Sampo or Hook .

The second stage of Lexical Enigma isn’t too much of a challenge since the enemies are only level 65, so a high-level team will have a huge advantage over them. If you’re struggling to get three stars on stage two, try these lineups.

The first team’s DoT users are Guinaifen and Hook , who pair nicely with Dr. Ratio since his follow-up attacks rely on status effects and debuffs to increase their hit chance. Gallagher will keep everyone’s HP topped off while also applying a minor buff to Break Effect, which always helps. If you need altenratives for this stage, then Pela and Herta are solid choices since Ice is surprisingly strong here. Use the Argument Cacophony effect with this team to maximize DoT output.

For the second team, Acheron , Black Swan , and Kafka will demolish anything that stands in front of them. They’re the strongest Nihility units in the game, and if you have all three of them, then you already know that. Use the Verification Cacophony buff with this trio. You can swap out Bailu for the healer or shielder of your choice in this lineup. If you don’t have all three recommended 5-stars, then you can use Serval and Sampo as your main DoT DPS units with Tingyun helping with buffs. If you go this route, change to a different Cacophony buff like Argument .

If you use the quick clear function like most people, you’ll start this Pure Fiction phase at stage three. This is where things start to heat up with level 75 enemies, but it’s manageable with the right teams. Try these lineups to score three stars on stage three of Lexical Enigma.

The first team relies on Serval and Kafka to inflict DoT effects while Acheron deals most of the damage. By equipping the Verification Cacophony effect, everyone’s DMG is increased by 60% and their SPD is increased by 30% because there are three Nihility characters on the team. If you need F2P replacements for Kafka and Acheron, then using Pela and Herta alongside Serval will work. Bailu is just there to heal, so you can swap her out for any Preservation or Abundance character of your choosing.

The second team is a classic DoT setup with Black Swan and Guinaifen being the main sources of DoT effects and weakness breaks, which will allow Himeko to attack more frequently and inflict her own Burn effects on enemies. F2P alternatives for this lineup include Sampo in the place of Black Swan and Hook or Asta in the place of Himeko. You can swap out Huohuo with the support unit of your choosing. Go with the Rebuttal Cacophony effect for this team, too.

For the fourth and final stage of Lexical Enigma, you’re up against Kafka and Svarog. This is the toughest battle of this Pure Fiction phase, but the elemental weaknesses for each half allow for the strongest possible team compositions. These are the best lineups to score three stars on stage four of Lexical Enigma.

The first team doesn’t have too many ways to apply DoT effects outside of Himeko’s Burn , so the Argument Cacophony effect is crucial since it applies Wind Shear to all enemies automatically. This lets you ignore the DoT mechanic for this half and let Clara and Himeko output as much damage as possible with Robin buffing and Fu Xuan keeping everyone alive. Strong F2P alternatives for this half include Luka and Guinaifen , but if you go the Nihility route, don’t forget to swap to the Verification Cacophony effect if you have enough characters to qualify for it.

There’s not even that much that needs to be said about the second half. Black Swan , Kafka , and Acheron are the definitive Nihility trio and they make quick work of Svarog and his allies with Huohuo keeping their HP topped off. Verification is the best Cacophony effect for them, of course. If you need F2P replacements, then you can build a solid team with Serval at the core. Just use Sampo , Guinaifen , and Hook to help with DPS and go with the Rebuttal Cacophony effect for additional help with DoT spreading.

Honkai: Star Rail is the newest free-to-play live service game from Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd developer, HoYoverse, that is available on PC, mobile, and PS5. It has a futuristic setting that sees you travel to different planets and settlements in a very convenient space train, the Astral Express.

As for the gameplay, it's entirely different to anything HoYoverse has done before, as Star Rail has a turn-based combat system - but with some modern improvements, such as auto-battle and the ability to fast-forward during combat.

The rest of the gameplay resembles Genshin Impact more than Honkai Impact 3rd, involving travelling to specific locations to battle enemies for gear and resources. However, this has been streamlined when compared to Genshin Impact, as Star Rail lets you transport right to a fight's location, queue up multiple resource farming fights at once, and even has a system for creating gear with the main stats you want.

For more information on what it's like to play, you can check out our Honkai Star Rail review .

What to do first in Honkai Star Rail

If you're just starting out your journey in Star Rail, we suggest playing through as much of the story as you can first (this is called the Trailblaze Mission), until you complete the 'Long Wait for the Blade's Edge' part of the 'In the Withering Wintry Night' Trailblazer Mission, as this is when Daily Training unlocks. This the second major Trailblaze storyline, set on the snowy planet of Jarilo-VI.

menu of the daily activities screen with nothing completed and the mouse highlighting rewards for the three hundred point reward

Completing Activities for the Daily Training system is your daily source of Stellar Jade , the primary currency used to buy Star Rail Passes , which are used for rolling for new characters or Light Cones (weapons) through the gacha system. Daily Training is also a source of Trailblaze EXP, which is needed to raise your Trailblaze Level in order to take part in main story missions and limited-time events.

Opening any treasure chests and fighting Warp Trotters you find along the way is also recommended, as both of these optional activities give you Stellar Jade.

What to do daily in Honkai Star Rail

We've got more information on what these activities mean below, but in general here's everything you should do daily in Honkai Star Rail:

  • Daily Training
  • Assignments
  • Spend Trailblaze Power
  • Battle Pass challenges
  • Logging in to HoYoLAB for free rewards

Apart from HoYoLAB rewards and Trailblaze Power (which replenishes once every six minutes), the rest of these daily activities reset at 4am (server time) every day .

menu of the assignments scrren showing very small pictures of bronya and tingyun on a credits assignment

You don't have to do all of these activities in one day, but if you want to make sure you're not missing out on any rewards, you should aim to do most of them. If you want to save time, then we recommend you drop spending Trailblaze Power. You won't be missing out so much now that Reserved Trailblaze Power has been added, as it stores your unused Trailblaze Power, but at a slower rate than the regular variety.

Honkai Star Rail is pretty good for consistently sticking to a regular update schedule. Since its release in April 2023, there has been a new named update every six weeks .

This update comes with a number like 1.3 or 1.4, resetting the battle pass, adding new quests, and occasionally new features - like Reserved Trailblaze Power and phone wallpapers.

Usually, every three weeks there is a Banner change that replaces the featured character and Light Cone Banners. These featured Banners mean you have a higher chance of getting the 5-Star and 4-Star characters and weapons featured on them. The 5-Star weapon and character on these revolving Banners can only be obtained by spending your in-game currency on their specific limited-time Banner, as the regular variety has a set pool that only adds new 4-Star characters and weapons.

These event Banners will eventually come back around though, so don't worry too much if you don't get the 5-Star you wanted.

light cone brilliant fixation banner showing the 'she already shut her eyes' five star weapon picture

With each update, there are limited-time events. How many, and how long they last for, varies, but all of them end before the new version update. Some events are replayable through the Conventional Memoir tab of the events menu, but they don't dish out at many important rewards, like Stellar Jade and free characters.

So, make sure you complete all that you can before each event's end date, and spend any event currency in the special shops that pop up during some of the more unique events.

You can jump ahead to our tips and tricks section now, or continue reading for more detailed explainers below.

How to get characters in Honkai Star Rail

You get Dan Heng, March 7th, Herta, Asta, and Natasha for free by completing main quests and taking part in the Simulated Universe, but the main source of getting characters in Honkai Star Rail is by using Star Passes to Warp on Banners as part of a gacha system. While you can spend real money to get Stellar Jade to buy regular and Special Passes, there are plenty of ways to get free Stellar Jade by just playing the game.

five star caharcter fu xuan's banner showing her posing with a hand in the air and four star characters lynx hook and pela with small pictures to the bottom left

To unlock Banners and the ability to Warp on them in Honkai Star Rail, you need to complete the ' A Moment of Peace ' part of the 'Today Is Yesterday's Tomorrow' Trailblaze Mission Prologue on Herta Space Station.

You can also occasionally get a 4-Star character for free as part of limited-time events, and you can save up to buy 4-Star characters from the in-game shop by using your Undying Starlight currency - but this currency is only obtainable by Warping on Banners anyway.

menu of the starlight exchange shop showing purchasable items including characters asta and arlan and star rail passes

Banners may seem complicated and overwhelming at first, but if you want to know more, we've got full explainers on how getting new characters works in our dedicated Banner , and Star Passes , pages.

In short though, our three main tips for Banners in Star Rail are:

  • Spend your regular Star Passes on the Beginner's Banner first.
  • Always convert your Stellar Jade to Special Star Passes in the shop, not the regular Passes.
  • Prepare to lose the dreaded 50/50 and save up enough Stellar Jade for two guaranteed 5-Star pulls to get characters you really want.

The 50/50 means you only have a 50% chance to get the featured 5-Star character on a limited-time Banner. As it takes 90 Special Star Passes to guarantee a 5-Star pull on a character Banner, this means you need to save 180 Special Star Passes just in case you lose the 50/50.

menu of the help screen that explainers how banner rates work in star rail with the example showing pictures of fu xuan pela hook and lynx

The only good news to this needlessly complicated system is that you are 100% guaranteed to get the featured 5-Star the second time you pull a 5-Star character or Light Cone on the same Banner .

You're very unlucky if it takes 180 pulls to get the character you want, but it's best to be prepared for if your luck does take a turn for the worse if you're Warping for a character you really want to add to your collection.

How to level up characters in Honkai Star Rail

There are technically two ways to level up your characters in Honkai Star Rail, but you should only really use one of them. While you can raise a character's EXP by defeating enemies, it's a ridiculously low amount compared to the best method.

The best way to level up characters in Honkai Star Rail is to use Character EXP materials called Travel Encounters, Adventure Log, and Traveler's Guide.

cropped menu image of character level up materials

Here's how much EXP you get from using one of each:

  • Travel Encounters - 1,000 EXP
  • Adventure Log - 5,000 EXP
  • Traveler's Guide - 20,000 EXP

These EXP materials are usually rewarded in limited-time events, but you can also get them from playing the game, most notably by farming the Bud of Memories Golden Calyx. You can also get them by completing activities like quests and opening treasure chests.

Be on the lookout for Garden of Plenty event periods, as you earn double Golden and Crimson Calyx drops while they're running.

menu image of the golden calyx options and their rewards

To use character EXP materials, you need to go to the character menu, choose the character you want to improve, then select what materials you want to use, or auto-fill, and hit 'Level Up'. It costs 1 Credit for every 10 EXP gained.

yukong character level up menu with yukong posing in the middle and a white arrow pointing to the level up materials in the bottom right hand corner

Every 10 levels after Level 20, however, you need to Ascend a character before you can level them up any further. Every character needs different types of Ascension materials, which range from items dropped from defeating regular enemies in the wild, obtained from Assignments, and special materials found in Stagnant Shadows .

Level 80 is the maximum for every character in Star Rail, but not everyone needs to be maxed out to be effective in your team. Save those resources unless you really need them!

Finally, to make your characters the best they can be, you need to improve their Traces. These upgrade Basic, Skill, and Ultimate abilities, as well as unlock special bonus abilities and stat upgrades. They take materials dropped by enemies, bosses, Tracks of Destiny, and Credits to upgrade. However, you don't need to upgrade every Trace to its maximum, especially Basic Attacks. If that character rarely uses a certain attack or attribute, there's really no point in wasting valuable resources on it.

Relics and Planar Ornaments in Honkai Star Rail explained

Relics are equipable items you give characters to raise their stats, but they also have bonus effects if you equip them as 2-piece and 4-piece sets. You're not locked out of equipping certain Relics if they aren't meant for a certain type of character, which can make the system a little overwhelming for beginners.

menu of blade's equipped relics and planar ornamanets showing their buffs and upgrade levels

At the beginning, you should focus on trying to equip 2-piece or 4-piece Relic sets on your characters and not worry too much about the main and sub stats. You'll only have lower rarity sets near the start, but that's perfectly fine for the level of enemies you'll be up against at this point.

If you do have a lot of repeats, that's the point where you should pay attention to the main and sub stat numbers. These stats raise your raw attack, health, critical hit, healing, Energy Recharge, speed, Effect Hit Rate, and Break Effect capabilities. Each character should ideally prioritise stats that are relevant to the build you're running on them.

menu of relics showing a singular pair of boots' stats and buff effects on the right hand side with a white arrow pointing to its main stat which is HP

For example, getting the Outgoing Healing Boost main stat on a piece of the Passerby of Wandering Cloud Relic set would be ideal if you're looking to boost the healing stats for an Abundance character in your party.

Planar Ornaments are exactly the same as Relics, except they are farmed in the Simulated Universe, and they only have 2-piece bonuses, as you can only equip two on a character.

With all that said, you can almost ignore Relics and Planar Ornaments at the beginning of the game . When you play more, and the enemy encounters become tougher, that's when you should aim to get better equipment by farming the Cavern of Corrosion and the Simulated Universe for your characters.

menu of the cavern of corrosion selection with their rewards dispalyed beside their names on the right hand side

You can also get more Relics by searching chests, buying them from each area's main shop, completing quests, raising Trailblaze Level , and completing tasks from the Operations Briefing menu. The best way to get good Relics in Honkai Star Rail, however, is to farm the Cavern of Corrosions.

During Realm of the Strange event periods, you get double drops for farming Relics at Cavern of Corrosions, and during Planar Fissure event event periods, you get double drops for farming Planar Ornaments. So make sure to take advantage of these special periods when you can!

Lastly, if you want to make a custom Relic, you can use a Self-Modeling Resin. These are rare, so don't use them all the time, but if you're sick of farming, they are incredibly useful. The only downside is that you can only choose your main stat, not the substats.

Stellar Jade in Honkai Star Rail explained

Stellar Jade is the rarest and most sought after currency in Honkai Star Rail, as it's what you need to exchange for Warps (Star Rail Passes) to get characters as part of the gacha Banner system. You can also use them to buy Fuel, but we recommend only using Stellar Jade for buying Star Passes if you want a mostly free-to-play experience.

The good news is that almost every activity in Honkai Star Rail rewards Stellar Jade, and there are login events that reward Stellar Jade or Passes every patch. However, it does take a while to save up enough Stellar Jade to guarantee a character. Limited-time events, Conventional Memoir Events, Daily Training, and redeeming codes are some of the best ways to consistently get Stellar Jade.

menu of the description of stellar jade with a picture of it in an orange circle

Some other unique ways to get Stellar Jade include defeating Warp Trotters, texting back characters, talking to characters on the Astral Express, and purchasing items from World Shops with its special currency.

Check out our dedicated Stellar Jade page for a more detailed explanation on how to get Stellar Jade in Honkai Star Rail.

Battle Pass in Honkai Star Rail explained

The Battle Pass (Nameless Honor) is an entirely optional feature that rewards you for completing daily, weekly, and event tasks. It's unlocked after completing 'Long Wait for the Blade's Edge' , the seventh part of the Chapter 1 Trailblaze Mission 'In the Withering Wintry Night' .

There is a free track (Nameless Gift), a premium track (Nameless Glory), and a premium boost package (Nameless Medal). The Nameless Medal upgrade is just like the Nameless Glory premium track unlock, but you also get an instant boost of 10 Battle Pass levels, exclusive profile pictures, and slightly more Stellar Jade and Fuel.

battle pass menu showing free and premium rewards across two tracks, on a black and gold background

You can get a wide range of items and materials from the each level of the free and premium Battle Passes, including Star Rail Passes , Character and Light Cone EXP materials, Credits, Stellar Jade , Self-Modeling Resin, character and Light Cone Ascension materials, and a choice between five 4-Star Light Cones on the premium tier.

There are 50 levels on both the free and premium tracks, but you only need to reach Level 30 on the premium track to pick your Light Cone .

With all that said, the Battle Pass in Honkai: Star Rail is not an essential part of the game. It's basically just a nice optional bonus to anybody who plays regularly, and every reward (except the premium Light Cones and profile pictures) can also be earned by playing the game.

Just make sure to claim all your free rewards before each Battle Pass period ends! This usually happens a couple of days before the next patch.

Trailblaze Level and Equilibrium Level in Honkai Star Rail explained

We have a more detailed explanation in our dedicated Trailblaze Level page, but in summary, Trailblaze Rank is your entry level to start missions and events, and Equilibrium Level determines how difficult the enemies are. A higher Equilibrium Level also unlocks higher levels of Calyxes, Stagnant Shadows, and Echoes of War, and winning these battles at higher levels gives you better rewards.

Trailblaze Level currently stops at Level 70, but most events only need you to be between Level 20 and 30 for higher-level content, if indeed they have a Trailblaze Level requirement at all. You will, however, often be locked out of Trailblaze Missions until you reach the required Trailblaze Level.

You can visit Pom Pom for rewards on the Astral Express every time you gain a Trailblaze Level, but you can't claim Trailblaze rewards after levelling up unless you're at the right Equilibrium Level.

menu of trailblaze rank rewards and equilibirum upgrade details to the right, and pom pom to the left, who is a rabbit looking creature in a red conductor's uniform

When you get to a high enough Trailblaze Rank, you have to complete an Equilibrium Trial to test and see if you're ready to increase your Equilibrium Level. It's not recommended to do this until you're sure you want to take on higher-level enemies. It will eventually become unavoidable, though, as you can't climb Trailblaze Levels until you complete the next Equilibrium Trial.

As long as you bring along a half decent team who are built correctly, Equilibrium Trials won't be too much of a challenge for you. They even get easier at later levels, as you have had more time to build your teams properly.

Trailblaze and Companion Missions in Honkai Star Rail explained

Trailblaze Missions are your main storyline quests, and Companion Missions are character-specific quests.

Trailblaze Missions progress the Astral Express crew's starward journey to find and contain Stellarons. They're broken down into Chapters, with the Prologue taking place on Herta Space Station, and Continuance Missions taking place in between main Chapters, returning you to past locations.

best assignment honkai star rail

Companion Missions let you dive deeper into a character's past, present, or future, giving you a deeper understanding of their backstory and character. Unlocking Companion Missions requires a mix of progressing with the Trailblaze Mission story and reaching the right Trailblaze Level.

Some characters only have one Companion Mission, while others have two or more. Once you complete the required part of a Companion's Mission chain, they occasionally show up on the Astral Express, and you can talk to them for some bonus Stellar Jade .

Companion Missions also contain story choices occasionally, and it's important to note that once you've made a decision, it's permanent. You can't go back and make different choices once the game has saved your decision. This hasn't changed anything drastic for us yet, but it very well might in the future, so choose wisely!

Events and Conventional Memoir in Honkai Star Rail explained

Events refer to either time-limited quests regularly added to Honkai Star Rail, or permanent reruns of old time-limited quests that have reduced rewards. These rerun events are stored in the Conventional Memoir section of the main events menu.

Events always have Trailblaze Mission completion requirements, and some also have Trailblaze Level requirements. For example, if an event takes place on the Xianzhou Luofu, you are required to have at least reached this area as part of the story. However, with Conventional Memoir, you won't miss out on any key story or character moments if they occur during an event, as you can just play through it later.

However, if you meet the requirements, we recommend participating in every event that you can when they initially run. Events are a great source of Stellar Jade, character materials, Credits, and sometimes even offer free 4-Star characters and Light Cones.

Trailblaze Power and Fuel in Honkai Star Rail explained

Wondering what those two orb currencies above your map are? These pinkish and greenish orbs are Trailblaze Power and Reserved Trailblaze Power, respectively, and they are the currency you use in exchange for claiming rewards from Calyxes, Stagnant Shadows, Cavern of Corrosions, and Echoes of War. These challenges are where you get Light Cone and character materials, Relics, and Credits. You also have the option of using Trailblaze Power in the Simulated Universe to get reward that include Planar Ornaments.

Regular Trailblaze Power replenishes every day at a rate of one every six minutes , capping out at 240. Fuel is a consumable item that can be used to instantly replenish 60 Trailblaze Power, which can go past the 240 cap. We recommend saving Fuel for when you really need to quickly level up characters, but it's up to you!

menu showing the description of reserved trailblaze power with a picture of the greenish power in a purple circle to the left

Reserved Trailblazer Power lets you store unused Trailblaze Power up to the maximum of 2,400. When you reach the cap of 240 regular pinkish Trailblaze Power, it then spills over into these greenish orbs of Reserved Trailblaze Power at a reduced rate of one Reserved Trailblazer Power every 18 minutes.

So, it's worth spending your ordinary Trailblaze Power as often as you can if you regularly play Star Rail, but you won't be missing out on too much farming time if you decide to take a break, as it takes a whole month for your Reserved Trailblaze Power to reach its max cap!

Forgotten Hall and Memory of Chaos in Honkai Star Rail explained

If you don't care about optional combat challenges, then you can completely ignore the Forgotten Hall and Memory of Chaos , unless you want some extra Stellar Jade, unique Light Cones, an interesting combat challenge, or the occasional free 4-Star character. None of these rewards are essential, however, so if you don't like Star Rail's combat, it's more than okay to ignore the Forgotten Hall.

The Forgotten Hall is unlocked after completing the Adventure Mission side quest 'Fleeting Lights', which is obtained by reaching Trailblaze Level 21. Once you complete this mission, the Forgotten Hall is accessed from the cracked standing mirror in the main car of the Astral Express.

gameplay of male trailblazer looking at the forgotten hall mirror which is glowing blue and cracked, with a hooded character to its left, all inside a train carriage

Every Forgotten Hall challenge is the same: defeat all enemies in a stage without any characters dying within a set number of turns . You get zero, one, two, or three stars, depending on how well you do in each stage. Zero stars are earned by completing the battle before the maximum number of turns with at least one downed party member. This means you don't need any stars to progress to the next stage! Simply surviving will do. However, the more stars you have, the more rewards you get.

There are two types of Forgotten Hall paths: Memory and Memory of Chaos. Memories are the blue coloured paths , and are permanent, fixed combat challenges that you can only earn rewards from once. Additional Memories have been added as part of new patches, so there should be more to come.

menu of the blue memory section of forgotten hall challenges

Memory of Chaos is the pink coloured path , and its challenges are refreshed every few weeks with new enemies and combat modifiers. These modifiers usually benefit the featured Banner character currently in rotation the most, but you don't need them to earn three stars in every stage.

menu of the pink chaos memory section of forgotten hall challenges

Lastly, you can speak with the Messenger beside the Forgotten Hall mirror to spend Lucent Afterglow currency in exchange for unique 4-Star weapons. Lucent Afterglow is one of the rewards you get for completing stages in the Forgotten Hall.

Simulated Universe in Honkai Star Rail explained

The Simulated Universe is another optional activity that you can consider occasionally ignoring, but it is the only way to get Planar Ornaments, has its own story to experience, and tends to feature in events a lot. The good news is that it's not as hard as the Forgotten Hall, as you can clear its 'Worlds' on lower difficulties to get Planar Ornaments, and obtain buffs during the gameplay that greatly increase your combat capabilities.

menu of the main simulated universe showing different coloured digital looking planets with shop and ability tree tabs on the upper left hand side and showing points in the bottom left hand corner

These buffs come in two forms: Blessings and Curios. Blessings are obtained by killing enemies or taking part in 'Events' in the Simulated Universe, and you get Curios by defeating Elite enemies, and taking part in the same Simulated Universe Events. These events sometimes give you the option of picking between Curios, Blessings, and Cosmic Fragments, with Cosmic Fragments being the currency you use to upgrade your Blessings.

menu of collected blessings showing gold at the top then blue in the middle and finally grey at the bottom, with a blue blessing's description shown on the right

In short, the Simulated Universe is a roguelike combat mode , as your Blessings, Curios, and Cosmic Fragments don't carry over to each new run. You do have a permanent Ability Tree, however, that you can invest points into to improve your combat prowess.

The main appeal of the Simulated Universe is to farm Planar Ornaments, but there are also weekly rewards you get for playing through enough Worlds and earning points. The higher your Equilibrium Level, the better your rewards. These weekly Simulated Universe rewards can include:

  • Regular Star Rail Passes
  • Stellar Jade
  • Lost Gold Fragments
  • Tracks of Destiny
  • Immersifiers
  • Herta Bonds

Immersifiers can be exchanged for Planar Ornaments while playing the Simulated Universe, and Herta Bonds can be spent in the Simulated Universe's shop, called Herta's Store, in exchange for regular Star Rail Passes and unique 5-Star Light Cones and their Superimpossions.

Honkai Star Rail tips and tricks

There are some things good to know that aren’t as essential as the explainers we have above, but will make your time aboard the Astral Express a lot easier, especially at the beginning of the game.

Here's some tips and tricks for Honkai Star Rail that we wish we knew before starting:

  • Use HoYoLab site or app - You can log in daily or complete special online activities for free rewards like Stellar Jade, Credits, and character and Light Cone materials.
  • Check an item in your Inventory to see how to get it - Most items have little rectangular text boxes below them that explain how to get it, and clicking this text box can instantly take you to the map location you need to go, or the conversion menu used for exchanging materials. You can also track and teleport to overworld enemies using this system.

menu of a purple obsidian of obsession item that resembles a dreamcatcher, on a blurred blue background

  • Don't spend Stellar Jade on regular Star Rail Passes - It's Special Star Passes you need to Warp for the event characters, and the regular variety for permanent Banners. While the permanent character and Light Cone Banner does have good characters on it, they're also included on event Banners, meaning you will get them eventually just by Warping on the event character Banners with Special Star Passes.
  • 5-Star characters aren't automatically better than 4-Stars - A 5-Star Harmony character like Bronya is indeed an amazing team member to buff your team, but Tingyun is arguably just as good, and she's a 4-Star. It's all about picking the right team for each individual situation, so if Bronya is hogging Skill Points required for your DPS, you might want to switch over to Tingyun so can also boost your team's DPS, while saving some Skill Points in your rotation.
  • Don't ignore events - Events regularly dish out great rewards for little work, and you can even get 4-Star characters, Light Cones, and Self-Modeling Resin from Events. The best event rewards are always obtained when they first debut, however, but you can still earn some rewards from the Conventional Memoir.
  • Spend your currencies at World Shops regularly - You might not need those Credits right now, but you actually get rewarded for spending an area's unique currency at World Shops! The currency you use for these shops (like Hertareum, Shields, and, Strales) aren't used for anything else, so there's no reason not to spend them all. When you can't buy anything else, you'll get the option to just buy Credits instead.

menu of the herta space station world shop showing all but two items purchases, with the claimed rewards displayed to the left

  • Attack Warp Trotters first - These cosmic pig-like creatures reward Stellar Jade when killed for the first time, but they escape after a certain number of turns, so target them first during battles. Warp Trotters are usually weak to Quantum, Imaginary, and Physical Damage.
  • Don't put party members with high Taunt beside weak allies - A lot of enemies actually have AOE attacks, and characters with high Taunt (like Gepard) draw these attacks the most, so you'll want to ideally slot them first or last in your party lineups beside a character who can take a hit, or who benefits from taking damage, like Blade .
  • Interact with everything - That sparkling plant you see in the distance? It can talk. That trash can? Leads to a secret quest. One time we even smashed a normal looking pot and were rewarded with a conversation that ended in feeding the pot trash bags. Star Rail's a strange game, and you can unearth random rewards and uniquely weird scenarios simply by exploring, so go and rummage through those trash cans!
  • Don't use your Ultimate right away - Fire away during the regular battles, but during Elite and Boss fights, you'll want to carefully consider when to use your Ultimate. Yes, you'll be losing out on gaining Energy for another Ultimate in the meantime, but it's better to hold off on Natasha's Ultimate healing effects until after the boss does their big attack, unless your characters really need the healing beforehand to withstand the big attack. There's also no point in unleashing Seele's Ultimate on a boss with 1% health left - save that for the next boss phase!
  • You don't need to unlock all of a character's Traces - If you're not using a character's normal attack, there's no point in wasting resources to level its Trace up fully. The same applies to Skill and Ultimate Traces, and even the bonus nodes. If your character's a healer who doesn't scale off Crit, then there's no need to unlock that Crit Rate Trace unless it's before a Trace you do need to unlock.
  • If you don't know what to do next, check your Operation Briefing - This is a great set of challenges you can check to see what your current goal (besides completing quests) should be. If it's suggesting you should level up a Light Cone to Level 80, perhaps it's time for you to seriously consider what the best Light Cone for your main characters are, and invest in those. You'll also get some bonus rewards for completing each challenge and page of challenges.

menu of the operation briefing task screen showing completed challenges and their rewards

  • Don't farm Relics too early - 5-Star Relics with perfect stats and substats for each character is the goal in Honkai: Star Rail, albeit a mostly unachievable one. You'll probably never get a perfect 5-Star Relic, but you should at least try to get a good main stat and two good substats. So, using that Trailblaze Power to farm 4-Star Relics will be a waste of time in the future when you unlock 5-Star Relic farming. Don't completely abstain from getting better Relics before you can farm 5-Stars, but don't go all in on it either.
  • Nihility characters don't benefit from increased Crit Rate and Crit Damage - These stats are wasted on characters like Kafka and Sampo who do most of their damage over time. Boosting their raw attack stat, specific damage type, and sometimes Effect Hit Rate, will benefit your DPS a lot more.
  • Natasha is your best friend - Until you get another healer, Natasha is a go-to party member for any team in Star Rail, as she's the only free Abundance character you get by playing through the story. As you can't heal with items, Abundance characters are essential to surviving in Star Rail. Preservation characters like March 7th can also help keep your team alive, but for longer battles, you need a healer.

Don’t Forget the Daily Honkai: Star Rail Assignments and Training Missions

Don’t Forget the Daily Honkai: Star Rail Assignments and Training Missions

Image of Jenni Lada

Like Genshin Impact , HoYoVerse designed Honkai: Star Rail in such a way that there are Daily Training missions and Assignments that can give you bonus items and points that lead to Nameless Honor and Glory battle Pass rewards. These aren’t available right away, as you need to increase your Trailblaze Level to at least 11 to start. Once you do, you get a chance to actively and passively begin earning rewards.

Don’t Forget the Daily Honkai: Star Rail Assignments and Training Missions

How to unlock and do in Honkai: Star Rail Daily Training and Missions

Go through Trailblaze Missions and the main campaign until you hit Trailblaze Level 11. The game will automatically perform a tutorial introducing you to the activity and encourage you along. Basically, these daily tasks function in the same way Genshin Impact ones do. You’ll see these under the Interastral Guide in the menu.

A handful will be available, each awarding a number of Activity Points that let you earn rewards. You need 500 points to claim all of them for a day. So on April 29, 2023, some of the ones available to me were:

  • Complete 1 Daily Mission: 200 Activity
  • Level up any character 1 time: 100 Activity
  • Inflict Weakness Break 5 times: 100 Activity
  • Complete 1 stage in Simulated Universe (any world): 200 Activity
  • Take 1 photo: 100 Activity
  • Clear Calyx (Golden) 1 time: 100 Activity

In the case of the Daily Mission, character level up, Simulated Universe stage, and Calyx, there’s even a button that you can click to directly go to that objective to complete it.

The Daily Missions themselves tend to be very simple. For example, one of the early ones you may encounter is a series of quests that includes The Art of Conversation. This involves talking to a Herta Space Station researcher named Emily and helping her learn to talk to people. There are no battles involved in this one. All you need to do is go, talk to her, then exchange some text messages.

Here are the rewards you get at each tier of Daily Training:

  • 100: 10 Stellar Jade, 200 Trailblaze EXP, 12,800 Credits
  • 200: 4 Lost Gold Fragment, 10 Stellar Jade, 200 Trailblaze EXP
  • 300: 6 Adventure Logs, 10 Stellar Jades, 200 Trailblaze EXP
  • 400: 10 Stellar Jade, 200 Trailblaze EXP, 17,600 Credits
  • 500: 5 Lost Gold Fragments, 15 Stellar Jades, 200 Trailblaze EXP

So by doing a Daily Mission, taking a photo by accessing the photo option from the main menu, leveling up a character, and completing one Calyx (Golden) wave, I was done. Honestly, if you’re choosing a Calyx or Simulated Universe as one of your tasks, you’ll probably complete the “inflict weakness” training without even thinking about it.

I’m going to level with you. I don’t exactly remember at which Trailblaze Level Assignments unlocked for me in Honkai: Star Rail . A lot of things come up at once, but know that appears around the same time as Daily Training. You’ll find it in your main phone menu under Assignments.

  • Character Materials: Destruction of the Destroyer for up to 30 Thief’s Instincts. 20 are guaranteed, and 10 can be acquired as a bonus.
  • Character Materials: Nine Billion Names for up to 30 Extinguished Cores. 20 are guaranteed, and 10 can be acquired as a bonus.
  • EXP Materials/Credits: Akashic Records for up to 2 Sparse Aether. 1 is guaranteed, and 1 can be acquired as a bonus.
  • EXP Materials/Credits: The Invisible Hand for up to 3,000 Credits. 2,000 are guaranteed, and 1,000 can be acquired as a bonus.
  • EXP Materials/Credits: Nameless Land, Nameless People for up to 4 Travel Encounters. 2 are guaranteed, and 2 can be acquired as a bonus.

20 hours after you dispatch your characters on assignments, they will return with rewards.

Best Robin build in Honkai Star Rail — The Halovian singer is incredible!

Her singing will bolster your party.

Honkai Star Rail Robin

Robin is an incredible 5-star support character in Honkai Star Rail who follows the path of Harmony and deals Physical damage.

The best thing about Robin is her abilities are multi-targeted, so she can buff up the entire party at once, which in turn can lead to some interesting scenarios.

The Halovian singer also boasts a unique ultimate ability that not only provides buffs to party members but also deals a devastating amount of damage to enemies.

If you want to add Robin to your trailblazing party, you’re in the right place. In this guide, we explain the best Robin build in Honkai Star Rail , covering details like the best light cones, planar ornaments, and team compositions.

Best Robin build: light cones

Honkai Star Rail Robin light cone

Robin’s ultimate is the most important of her kit, but you will need lots of energy to use it frequently. Hence, the best light cones for Robin are the ones that increase her energy regeneration rate, boost allies attacks, or both.

As such, it’s no surprise that the best light cone for Robin is her signature light cone, ‘Flowing Nightglow,’ which increases her energy regeneration and attack as well as boosts allies’ damage.

Robin, a 5-star HSR character, in ONE Esports featured image for article "All Robin materials in Honkai Star Rail — Ascension and Trace skills"

If you can’t afford Robin’s signature light cone, fret not. There’s another solid option named ‘Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds.’

Equipping this will get you one of the three buffs at the beginning of the battle, all of which are incredibly beneficial for Robin and her team.

‘But the Battle Isn’t Over’ is always a great option since it can regenerate energy for Robin and boost damage for one ally. However, to trigger its effect, you have to use Robin’s ultimate twice, which can be a bit tedious.

Lastly, there’s ‘Meshing Cogs,’ which is a surprisingly effective 3-star Light Cone that generates energy every time you hit a target or get hit by them. However, this can only be triggered one time every turn, but it’s still quite good at accumulating energy quickly.

Best Robin build: relics

Best Robin team in Honkai Star Rail

Since Robin’s skill and ultimate depends on her ATK, it’s best to equip Relics that bolster that stat. Equipping four pieces of the Musketeer of Wild Wheat relic set is the best option since it can boost Robin’s attack and speed.

With more speed, Robin can get more turns and regenerate energy quickly. Plus, it will also help trigger the effects of the Planar Ornaments (more on that below.)

Champion of Streetwise Boxing is also a good option since it can provide an attack boost and raise your Physical Damage.

While the attack boost you get is slightly lower than Musketeer’s, this Light Cones makes up with the Physical damage boost, which Robin’s ultimate greatly benefits from.

Lastly, if you’re running a Robin DoT team, you may go with four pieces of Prisoner in Deep Confinement.

You will get the same attack boost as Musketeer’s, but having two DoT characters in the team will allow Robin to penetrate the enemy’s defense better with her ultimate and deal more damage.

Best Robin build: planar ornaments

Best Robin build in Honkai Star Rail

For Robin’s planar ornaments, you can go with either Sprightly Vonwacq if you want more energy regeneration or Space Sealing Station if you want more attack boost.

You can get an additional attack boost with Space Sealing Station or get your action advanced forward with Sprightly Vonwacq if Robin’s speed reaches 120. This is where the Musketeer relic set comes in handy, as it can provide the necessary speed buff.

If you’re running a follow-up attack team, we recommend going with Sealing Station instead of Sprightly Vonwacq since Robin will already have a decent energy regeneration rate. However, if you’re running a DOT team, Sprightly Vonwacq would be more beneficial to make the most out of Robin’s kit.

Best Robin build: team composition

Robin works the best in a follow-up attack team. A DoT team (consisting of Kafka and Black Swan) would also work, especially if you have Huhuo for energy regeneration.

Lastly, a free-to-play team consisting of Herta, Natasha, and any DoT or DPS character could also work with Robin. We have explained our best Robin teams in a separate guide , where we break down the perks of each team composition, so you may want to check that for a more detailed explanation.

That sums up our best Robin build guide in Honkai Star Rail.

Genshin Impact Terminology in Honkai: Star Rail

A sizable number of HSR players are familiar with one of HoYoVerse’s other games, Genshin Impact . The following is a quick cheat sheet on HSR terms that have Genshin equivalents. If you aren’t familiar with Genshin , feel free to skip this section.

  • Standard Banner = Stellar Warp
  • Beginner Banner = Departure Warp
  • Acquaint Fate = Star Rail Passes (used on Standard and Beginner Warps)
  • Intertwined Fate = Star Rail Special Passes (used on Character Event Warps and Light Cone Event Warps)
  • Primogems = Stellar Jades
  • Genesis Crystal = Oneiric Shard
  • Starglitter = Undying Starlight
  • Stardust = Undying Embers
  • Gnostic Hymn (Battle Pass) = Nameless Honor
  • Blessing of the Welkin Moon = Express Supply Pass
  • Artifacts = Relics
  • Weapons = Light Cones
  • Constellations = Eidolons
  • Mora = Credits
  • Fragile Resin = Fuel
  • Condensed Resin = Immersifier
  • Original Resin = Trailblaze Power

Beginner Progression

Trailblaze level (tl).

Trailblaze Level is your account’s level. It increases once you have sufficient Trailblaze EXP, which is granted by completing Missions (quests), spending Trailblaze Power (stamina), and participating in events.

Many game features will unlock as Trailblaze Level increases. You also receive rewards every level by talking to Pom-Pom on the Astral Express. The maximum Trailblaze Level is 70.

At certain Trailblaze Levels, you will receive a number of Star Rail Passes, which are used to pull from the Standard Warp; as well as Stellar Jades, which are the game’s premium currency. Stellar Jades can be used for all Warps.

best assignment honkai star rail

Some other notable TL breakpoints:

  • TL14: Unlocks Daily Training
  • TL20: Unlocks Equilibrium 1, which increases the difficulty of enemies but grants increased rewards.
  • Farming Relics isn’t recommended until you reach at least TL40, which guarantees 5★ Relics each run. Until then, you should farm Character EXP and Ascension Materials; Light Cone EXP and Ascension materials; and Trace Ascension materials.

In the early game, there are sections of the main story that are locked behind Trailblaze Level. In order to progress, you will need to complete side-quests, do daily missions, and spend Trailblaze Power on resource gathering.

Daily Activities

Daily training.

best assignment honkai star rail

Daily Training is one of your primary recurring sources of both Trailblaze XP and Stellar Jades. Progress resets with the Daily Reset, at 4 a.m. local time. Daily Training is a series of tasks you can complete, which award up to 500 total Activity. Note that you do not need to complete all of the listed tasks – you just need to do enough for the 500 point threshold. Reaching the threshold will give you 60 Stellar Jades, some Trailblaze EXP, and some Character and Light Cone EXP based on your Equilibrium Level.

Daily Missions

Daily Missions are one of the tasks that you will receive each day as a part of your Daily Training. They will appear in your Quest Log and will reward 200 training points upon completion. They will usually involve small tasks or dialogues with NPCs, and are often linked together in storyline-esque sequences across multiple days.

Assignments

best assignment honkai star rail

Assignments are time-gated farms that give various materials based on the time and characters committed. They do not affect actual gameplay; sending off Dan Heng on an Assignment does not prevent you from using him while he is dispatched. As seen above, they can be accessed from the top right corner of the Trailblaze Menu. Assignments can provide Character, EXP, and Synthesis Materials as well as Credits.

You have an initial maximum of 2 Assignments active at any given time, which increases as your Trailblaze Level does. The Assignment menu gives you the option to assign 2 characters to any given Assignment. You can set a time interval for anywhere from 4 to 20 hours, with 20 hours giving the highest reward. Assigning characters with the same Path as the recommended Path(s) listed at the top will give you additional rewards.

While the rewards may seem small, they will add up over time and save you Trailblaze Power that you would have otherwise spent on those materials. Try to do your Assignments every day.

Trailblaze Power (Stamina)

Most activities in Honkai: Star Rail require Trailblaze Power, the game’s stamina system. You can hold up to 180 Trailblaze Power at once. Trailblaze Power naturally replenishes at a rate of 1 per 6 minutes, for a total of 240 Trailblaze Power per day; however, you can also replenish it using Fuels (rewarded from certain missions and TL rewards) or using Stellar Jades.

Trailblaze Power is used to obtain the following resources:

  • Light Cone Ascension Materials
  • Character Ascension Materials
  • Character Trace Materials
  • Character EXP

These resources are used to upgrade Characters and Light Cones. Later sections of the guide explore these resources in further detail.

It is generally inefficient to farm Relics before TL40, which is when 5★ rarity Relics are guaranteed. The Main Story Quests do not require highly geared characters, and further testing is ongoing to see if 4★ Relics are worth pursuing. Fuel should not be used for Relic farming before TL50. For a general overview on our recommendations on farming, check out our Investment Priority infographic .

Operation Briefing

best assignment honkai star rail

The Operation Briefing is a series of beginner missions designed to situate you with the game. It rewards you for completing tasks like enhancing characters or progressing in Herta’s Simulated Universe.

The following resources can be obtained from Operation Briefings.  These resources are awarded at the completion of each Part unless otherwise specified.

  • Part 1-4: x50
  • Part 5-9: x100
  • Character Ascension Materials
  • Trailblaze EXP
  • Trace Materials
  • Light Cones: 3★ Data Bank (Part 1), 4★ Woof! Walk Time! (Part 2), 4★ Eyes of the Prey (Part 4)
  • Relics: 4★ Passerby of Wandering Cloud Full Set (Part 3), 4★ Musketeer of Wild Wheat Full Set (Part 5), 4★ Thief of Shooting Meteor Full Set (Part 7), 5★ Musketeer of Wild Wheat Coarse Leather Gloves x1 (Part 9)

Game Mechanics

Character attributes.

Each character belongs to a Path, which determines their gameplay focus (e.g. AoE Damage, Healing, Buffing, etc.), as well as their Element, which dictates what type of Elemental damage they are able to deal.

best assignment honkai star rail

Those who follow the “Destruction” Path admire recklessness, anger, and destructive behavior.

These characters focus on a general mix of damage and survivability . They are jack-of-all-trades suited for most combat scenarios.

best assignment honkai star rail

Those who follow the “Hunt” Path admire determination, ruthlessness, and tenacious behavior.

These characters focus high single-target damage . They function best as the main damage dealer against Elite enemies.

best assignment honkai star rail

Those who follow the “Erudition” Path admire thinking, logic, and strategic behavior.

These characters focus on high multi-target damage . They function best as the main damage dealer against groups of enemies.

best assignment honkai star rail

Those who follow the “Harmony” Path admire understanding, support, and cooperative behavior.

These characters apply buffs that improve the team’s combat capabilities.

best assignment honkai star rail

Those who follow the “Nihility” Path admire laziness, exhaustion, and meaningless behavior.

These characters apply debuffs to enemies that reduce their combat capabilities.

best assignment honkai star rail

Those who follow the “Preservation” Path admire patience, sacrifice, and defensive behavior.

These characters possess powerful defensive abilities that protect their allies.

best assignment honkai star rail

Those who follow the “Abundance” Path admire selflessness, altruism, and healing behavior.

These characters heal allies and restore HP to the team.

There are seven Elements: Physical , Fire , Ice , Lightning , Wind , Quantum , and Imaginary . These types define the Elemental damage that characters deal in combat.

Every enemy in the game has a weakness to one or more Elements. These weaknesses are displayed as Element icons above the enemy’s Toughness bar. Dealing any kind of damage to an enemy will reduce the enemy’s Health, whether or not the enemy is weak to that Element. However, dealing damage in one of the Elements that matches an enemy’s weakness will additionally reduce an enemy’s Toughness. Fully depleting an enemy’s Toughness bar results in a Weakness Break, which delays the enemy’s turn, deals extra damage, and applies a special effect based on the Element of the hit that caused the break. The effects of a Weakness Break scale with Character Level and the Break Effect stat, and is affected by which Element does the Break.

When you break an enemy’s Toughness bar, they will take an instance of damage depending on the Element in question. Different Elements deal different amounts of Weakness Break damage, as outlined below:

Physical = Fire > Wind > Lightning = Ice > Quantum = Imaginary

This is NOT an Element ranking or effect ranking. It only shows how much immediate damage each Element does on Weakness Break.

The section below covers the seven Elements and their break effects.

best assignment honkai star rail

Using Physical attacks to trigger Weakness Break will deal Physical damage and apply the Bleed effect, dealing Physical damage over time.

Physical is a damage-oriented Element that does a high amount of damage upon Weakness Break. The Bleed effect lasts two turns and does one instance of Physical damage per turn. Bleed does more damage against non-boss enemies, and less against bosses.

best assignment honkai star rail

Using Fire attacks to trigger Weakness Break will deal Fire damage and apply the Burn effect, dealing Fire damage over time.

Fire is a damage-oriented Element that does a high amount of damage upon Weakness Break. The Burn effect lasts for two turns and does one instance of Fire damage per turn. It is not affected by enemy type.

best assignment honkai star rail

Using Ice attacks to trigger Weakness Break will deal Ice damage and Freeze the target, immobilizing the enemy and dealing additional Ice damage.

Ice provides a mix of crowd control and damage. The Freeze effect lasts until the enemy’s next turn. When that enemy’s next turn begins, the Freeze effect expires, dealing damage and preventing the enemy from taking action on that turn, although their next turn will come faster.

best assignment honkai star rail

Using Lightning attacks to trigger Weakness Break will deal Lightning damage and apply the Shock effect, dealing Lightning damage over time.

Lightning is a damage-oriented Element that does a low amount of damage upon Weakness Break. The Shock effect lasts for two turns and does one instance of Lightning damage per turn. It is not affected by enemy type.

best assignment honkai star rail

Using Wind attacks to trigger Weakness Break will deal Wind damage and apply the Wind Shear effect, dealing Wind damage over time.

Wind is a damage-oriented Element that does a moderate amount of damage upon Weakness Break. The Wind Shear effect lasts for two turns and does one instance of Wind damage per turn. It does more damage against Elite and Boss enemies.

best assignment honkai star rail

Using Quantum attacks to trigger Weakness Break will deal Quantum damage and apply the Entanglement effect, delaying the enemy’s next turn and dealing additional Quantum damage at the beginning of the enemy’s next turn. When the enemy is hit, this extra damage will increase.

Quantum provides a mix of crowd control and damage and does a very low amount of damage upon Weakness Break. When an enemy is Weakness Broken by Quantum DMG, the enemy is pushed down in the turn order and inflicted with Entanglement , which lasts until the enemy’s next turn. When that enemy’s next turn begins, the Entanglement effect expires, dealing damage once. This damage is increased depending on how many times the enemy is hit while affected by Entanglement, starting at 1 stack with a maximum of 5 .

best assignment honkai star rail

Using Imaginary attacks to trigger Weakness Break will deal Imaginary damage and apply the Imprisonment effect, delaying the enemy’s next turn and reducing the enemy’s Speed.

Imaginary provides strong crowd control. When an enemy is Weakness Broken by Imaginary DMG, the enemy is pushed down in the turn order (even more than when broken by Quantum) and inflicted with Imprisonment , which reduces the enemy’s SPD stat.

Character Stats

Level: Characters can be leveled up to Lv. 80, which requires not only Character EXP but also various Ascension materials.

Primary Stats HP : The character’s total Hit Points. When a character’s HP reaches zero, they are killed. Characters die if they are killed. ATK: Increases the damage of most attacks and Skills. DEF: Reduces how much damage a character takes, and affects the strength of most shields. SPD: Determines turn order and how often a character takes their turn. CRIT Rate:  The chance that a character’s attack is a Critical Hit, which deals increased damage. CRIT DMG: The damage multiplier granted by a Critical Hit.

best assignment honkai star rail

More Stats Break Effect: Enhances Weakness Break effects such as the damage dealt by Weakness Break DoTs and how much enemies are delayed by Quantum and Imaginary Breaks. Energy Regeneration Rate: Increases the rate at which a character generates Energy through their Basic ATKs, Skills, defeating enemies, and taking damage. Effect Hit Rate%: Increases the chance to apply effects such as debuffs to enemy targets. Effect RES%: Increases the character’s resistance to incoming debuffs. DMG%: Increases the damage multiplier of a character. You will often see DMG % Bonus for specific Elements. Aggro: Characters all have an inherent base Aggro Value, which is multiplied by the character’s individual Aggro Modifiers. The higher the Aggro Value, the more likely they are to be targeted by enemies. The base values for each Path are as follows:

  • Preservation (6)
  • Destruction (5)
  • Harmony / Nihility / Abundance (4)
  • Erudition / The Hunt (3)

Character Skills & Attacks

Every character has a distinct set of five abilities: a Basic A TK, Skill, Ultimate, Talent, and Technique.

Basic ATKs generate one Skill Point, while most Skills consume one Skill Point.

Ultimates are powerful abilities that can be cast at any time during combat. However, they require max Energy to cast. As a reminder, Energy is gained through taking and inflicting damage.

Talents are passive effects that help the character perform the role they are in, for example increasing the damage of the character or their supportive capabilities.

Techniques are abilities used outside and just before battle offering effects to the character/team. There are two types of Techniques: The first applies a buff or effect without attacking and can be stacked with each other or the second type. The second attacks immediately, applying some effect and initiating combat. Your Technique Points cap begins at 3 and increases as you progress through the game.

Every character also has a number of Traces . Traces can be leveled to increase the potency of a character’s abilities. There are additional Traces that provide raw basic stats, and three unique Traces that provide passive effects that are locked behind Character and Ascension level (2, 4 and 6).

Each character can be equipped with a set of Relics and a Light Cone which provide not only raw stats but also powerful passive effects.

Light Cones

Each character can equip a Light Cone which provides them with HP, ATK, and DEF stats. If a character’s path matches the Light Cone’s path, they gain an additional Light Cone Ability unique to each Light Cone.

Each character has 6 Relic slots, which are divided into 2 categories. You will start with Head , Hands , Body, and Feet slots and unlock the Planar Sphere and Link Rope slots as you progress the main story. Relics represent a significant portion of end-game characters’ power, but should not be a priority until at least TL40. Low rarity Relics are significantly weaker than their 5★ counterparts, to the point that investing in them is often a waste of Trailblaze Power.

Relics can be leveled up by consuming other Relics or through Relic EXP Materials. They gain or improve a substat every 3 levels.

Relics of higher rarity have higher main stats, higher substat rolls, and higher max level. It is recommended that you always use the highest rarity Relics available to you.

Main Stats Each Relic is limited to certain main stats depending on its slot:

  • Body: HP% / ATK % / DEF % / Crit Rate / Crit DMG / Outgoing Healing Boost / Effect Hit Rate
  • Feet: HP% / ATK % / DEF % /  SPD
  • Planar Sphere: HP% / ATK% / DEF% / Element DMG Boost %
  • Link Rope: Break Effect % / Energy Regeneration Rate / HP% / ATK% / DEF%

Relic Sets Relic Sets are divided into 2 categories: A 4-piece Relic Set consisting of Head, Hands, Body, and Feet; and a 2-piece Planar Ornaments set consisting of a Planar Sphere and a Link Rope.

Set Bonuses Equipping multiple Relics of the same set provides set bonuses. Relic Sets provide a 2-piece and 4-piece set effect while Planar Ornaments provide a separate 2-piece set effect.

Obtaining Relics In the early game, Relics can be obtained from chests and question completion rewards. Additionally, upon reaching Trailblaze Level 20, one set of 4★ Relics are available to purchase from each of the planetary vendors.

Avoid farming Relics until at least TL 40 (which is still only recommended for those planning on rushing harder content such as Memory of Chaos) as it’s highly inefficient to farm any sub-5★ Relics. The story and exploration will continue to reward you with Relics as you progress, and powerful Relics are generally unnecessary through the story.

Combat System

Honkai: Star Rail is a turn-based character RPG. The party consists of up to 4 characters who can individually cast various Basic ATKs, Skills, and Ultimates .

Out of combat, characters can use Techniques to start the next encounter with various bonuses in the form of extra damage, buffs, enemy debuffs, or crowd control.

Initiating Combat

In the Overworld, you can attack enemies to initiate combat. When an enemy is attacked with their corresponding Weakness, any enemies in that encounter with the Weakness will either suffer a Weakness Break or have reduced Toughness.

Gacha System

best assignment honkai star rail

Honkai: Star Rail’s gacha system is the primary way to obtain new characters and weapons. Players can spend their Star Rail Passes and Star Rail Special Passes or exchange Stellar Jades at a rate of 160 Jades per Pass to roll on Warps.

The rates for all Warps are as follows:

5★ Characters and Light Cones = 0.6% (divided evenly between Characters and Light Cones where applicable)

4★ Characters and Light Cones = 5.1%

The Gacha also has a “pity” system. Players are guaranteed a 5★ every 90 pulls on every Warp banner.

The 5★ that players pull depends on the banner they pulled on. On Standard Warps, the 5★ will be randomly selected from the Standard 5★ pool of characters and Light Cones. On Character Event Warps, there is a 50% chance to receive the rate-up character. If you do not get the rate-up character, you will receive a character from the pool of Standard 5★ characters. The next time you receive a 5★ from a Character Event Warp, you are guaranteed to get the rate-up character. On Light Cone Event Warps, there is a 75% chance you will receive the rate-up Light Cone. If you do not get the rate-up Light Cone you’ll receive a Standard 5★ Light Cone instead, and the next 5★ is guaranteed to be the rate-up Light Cone.

If players pull a duplicate of a character that they already own, they will receive the character’s Eidolon and some Undying Starlight. Eidolons can be used to unlock powerful, character-specific upgrades. Undying Starlight can be spent in the store for a variety of rewards including extra pulls, a rotating selection of 4★ characters, and all 7 of the Standard 5★ Light Cones.

If players pull a duplicate of a Light Cone that they already own, they are able to enhance the Light Cone’s passive by Superimposing and consuming any duplicate copies. Each Light Cone can be Superimposed up to 4 times for a maximum Superimposition Rank 5.

It is generally recommended that you spend your Stellar Jades on Star Rail Special Passes rather than Star Rail Passes. Special Passes are much more scarce, and allow you to roll for limited characters via Character Event Warps; additionally, you will naturally acquire Standard 5★s as you pull on limited banners. Star Rail Passes are available more frequently from sources such as Simulated Universe.

F2P players should avoid using Special Passes on the Light Cone Event Warp. While the featured Light Cone could make your character(s) stronger, it will generally be a better investment to use your Special Passes on Character Event Warps to widen your available roster.

Warps (Banners) & Pity

Departure Warp

After receiving the 5★ character from the Departure Warp, players can optionally skip consuming the full 50 pull limit, as there is no additional chance to obtain a 5★ character. The only additional bonus from the Departure Warp is the 20% discount.

Undying Starlight and Undying Ember are currencies that can be obtained by rolling on Warps. These can be spent in the Embers Exchange and Starlight Exchange to purchase Special Passes, Passes, upgrade resources, and more. Players should purchase the discounted Passes in the Ember Exchange for Embers, as they restock monthly.

Freebie Characters

There are a number of characters that are available to everyone, obtainable through either story progression or other methods:

KQM has worked on character overviews and build setups which you can find here:

  • 4★ Characters at a Glance
  • 5★ Characters at a Glance

Other Rewards

Due to Mihoyo reaching 10 million pre-registrations, every account will receive the following pre-registration rewards:

  • 100,000 credits
  • 20 Star Rail Passes
  • 4★ Character: Serval

This applies to every account, not just pre-registered ones. Enjoy your free pulls!

Other Events For participants in the All Star Invite web event, you may also receive a 4★ Light Cone, Make the World Clamor , and a 4★ relic (The Musketeer Gloves are recommended). This event is still available until May 25th (UTC+8), so you can still obtain the Light Cone even if you rerolled.

HoyoLab Daily Check-In The Daily Check-In provides an additional 120 Stellar Jade the first 3 times you check-in and an additional 90 Stellar Jade over the course of the month.

Does the server I choose affect gameplay?

The server you choose will for the most part only affect your ping, which is less of an issue in turn-based games. However, it may create some delay when engaging enemies with a character’s technique or attack in the overworld. One thing that the server you choose will affect is the Support Character system. Honkai Star Rail allows you to designate a character as your Support Character. In Calyxes and Caverns of Corrosion, players can borrow a Support Character from one of their friends to bring along. This requires you to be on the same server as your friends.

Does the Trailblazer that I choose at the start of the game matter?

While the Trailblazer that you select does not affect any gameplay elements, only visual and audio ones, you cannot change after making your choice. Choose carefully!

How long does it take to guarantee a limited character?

Starting off a fresh new account, 1.0 will give you enough to hit pity on both the Departure Banner as well as once on the Event Warp, meaning that you will not be able to guarantee the Event character if you lose the 50/50. If you save for the first two patches after release, you will have enough Stellar Jade and Special Passes to guarantee a 5★ character on an Event Warp – 180 pulls, or two hard pities. As you progress through content and exhaust sources of one-time rewards, the amount of Stellar Jade and Passes that you will receive per patch will drop drastically. Depending on if events provide Stellar Jade’s in amounts comparable to HoYoverse’s other similar games, a F2P player will be able to guarantee an Event Warp character every 2-3 months. This also heavily depends on how consistently a player can clear all the available content (daily activities, shop pulls, Simulated Universe, Forgotten Halls, Events, and so forth).

How do I change the Trailblazer’s Element?

As you progress through the story, you unlock new Elements for the Trailblazer. You can change their Element at any time in the character menu using the switch button in the lower right hand corner.

How important are Eidolons?

Generally speaking, Eidolons, Signature Light Cones, and other ways of investing heavily into a few characters are not a requirement or even the best investment that you can make to boost your overall account power. Especially as a newer player, investing into a variety of characters will be better. As of release, almost all characters are strong enough without any Eidolons.

Are there any things I should avoid doing as a new player?

Play and spend responsibly! Early game investment into characters is not costly, so there is very little opportunity cost to trying things out. Just because a Light Cone or Character is a higher rarity does not make it the best option. Don’t spend Stellar Jades to complete your Departure Banner or pull on the Standard Banner. The game will give you enough Standard Warp passes to use. Another thing you should avoid is spending Fuel early in the game! Unless you want to unlock the main story right away, you should save them until you reach at least TL 40 wherein you can finally guarantee getting 5★ Relics. This is important because you’ll already be at the point of having high enough levels for your Characters, Light Cones, and Traces that the next step of improvement is by farming Relics. Without a decent Fuel stockpile, the initial Relic grind past TL40 can be grueling.

Honkai star rail pure fiction lexical enigma guide: best teams and tips.

best assignment honkai star rail

Are you ready to take on the latest Pure Fiction phase in Honkai Star Rail? The Lexical Enigma challenge is here, focusing on Damage over Time (DoT) strategies. Luckily, there are several Nihility characters that shine in this phase and are relatively easy to acquire.

Pure Fiction Teams for Lexical Enigma

In this Pure Fiction phase, enemies will be more susceptible to DoT sources. Additionally, DoT effects will reduce enemy damage and advance their actions, leading to more DoT damage over time. Characters like Kafka, Black Swan, Guinaifen, Hook, Sampo, and Serval are excellent choices for this challenge.

Honkai Star Rail Pure Fiction Lexical Enigma Teams

Begin with the first stage of Lexical Enigma, facing level 55 enemies. To score three stars, use high-level units with adequate gear. Consider these teams:

Team 1 focuses on DoT effects with Kafka and Serval, while Acheron and Jingliu deal damage. Team 2 relies on Black Swan and Guinaifen for DoT, with Asta and Himeko providing additional support. Adjust the Cacophony effect based on your available units.

Continue to stage 2 and face level 65 enemies with lineups like:

Team 1 combines Guinaifen and Hook’s DoT with Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attacks, while Gallagher provides healing. Team 2 features Acheron, Black Swan, and Kafka as powerhouse units. Adjust the Cacophony buff as needed.

Transition to stage 3 with level 75 enemies. Use these lineups for success:

Utilize Serval and Kafka’s DoT effects in Team 1, with Acheron dealing significant damage. Team 2 focuses on Black Swan and Guinaifen’s DoT abilities, supported by Himeko. Adjust the Cacophony buff accordingly.

In the final stage against Kafka and Svarog, create powerful teams to secure victory:

Team 1 utilizes Himeko’s Burn effects, boosted by the Argument Cacophony effect. Team 2 features the powerful Nihility trio of Black Swan, Kafka, and Acheron. Adjust the Cacophony effect and lineup as needed for success.

Honkai: Star Rail - Timetable Navigation Compass Day 3 Where to Find Yujin For That Teacher

Honkai: star rail 2.2 chart shows most picked characters for memory of chaos, honkai: star rail leak teases march 7th's new form's kit, quick links, the ol' reliable, the double tank setup, the hyper carry crew, the elation meme team, hyperbreak team, 4-star characters to look out for.

Combat in Honkai: Star Rail lives and dies by the teams that players can cobble together. With the correct selection of units, every challenge in the game can be conquered with relative ease, especially if the synergies between characters hit that perfect sweet spot that results in the biggest damage numbers and most broken interactions possible.

Building a team in Honkai: Star Rail is heavily dependent on a player's luck. Not everyone can play using the best characters in the roster . However, the F2P units in this game are more than capable of clearing almost everything that stands in the way. Here are four F2P team comps that any player can build.

Updated May 20, 2024, by Marc Santos: As Honkai: Star Rail's roster of playable characters continues to expand, so too does the potential for powerful team compositions. The game has seen many new characters as of the end of the first Penacony storyline, and more are yet to come . While the majority of meta units do come from the limited-time character banners, it's hard to deny that even a team full of 4-star units can dominate the game's hardest content. This guide has been updated to include a new team composition featuring the new Imaginary Trailblazer.

Unlock additional rewards and secrets by completing multi-day puzzles in Honkai: Star Rail.

This is the standard team composition all players should be familiar with. It consists of:

  • One flex pick

Players can take this sort of team anywhere and find decent success as long as they play their cards right. By its nature as the traditional RPG comp, it's also very flexible when it comes to character picks. The starting trio composed of Dan Heng, March 7th, and Physical Trailblazer can breeze through Honkai: Star Rail's story content without a problem, as well as most of the early Forgotten Hall and Simulated Universe floors.

As its name suggests, this team setup relies on using two tanks that can share enemy aggro with each other. It's composed of:

  • Fire Trailblazer
  • Two flex picks

March and Fire Trailblazer are the only two free-to-play (F2P) tanks on the roster as of the launch version of Honkai: Star Rail. The good thing is that they are both incredibly good at their jobs.

This composition is pretty flexible when it comes to damage options. Any other character can fit into the remaining two slots here, and since the tanks offer enough protection for everybody, having a healer is completely optional unless players are locked in a drawn-out boss fight . Depending on the enemy matchup, either March or Fire Trailblazer can assume the role of dedicated Weakness Breaker as well, while the other covers for their original tank duty.

A comprehensive Honkai: Star Rail chart reveals the most popular characters for the latest version of the Memory of Chaos mode.

Using a hyper-carry team is always risky, but it can pay off if players manage their units properly. An example of this using F2P characters would be something like:

  • Dan Heng/Any DPS carry
  • A tank or healer

In this case, Asta and Tingyun will focus mostly on giving the team's DPS enough buffs to delete large chunks of an enemy's health bar. Bronya is the ideal support unit for this team comp, replacing Asta's SPD boosts with ATK and CRIT DMG buffs that stack nicely with Tingyun's.

The last slot can be filled by either a tank or a healer. In most cases, March 7th or Fire Trailblazer with any 4-star Light Cone is enough to cover this slot. They'll be able to break Toughness Bars while giving the rest of the team more leeway to pull off their big moves..

This team is designed with the Simulated Universe in mind. It makes heavy use of ultimate abilities and follow-up attacks to score ridiculous damage numbers using the Elation's many blessings. The team is as follows:

This team cares very little about elemental weaknesses. As long as players can get Slaughterhouse No. 4 and either Auto-Harmonica or Champion's Dinner: Cat's Cradle , they'll be able to steamroll through almost everything with sheer brute force. Couple these with Freeze-related bonuses from the Remembrance, and enemies won't even be able to take their turn before the incoming onslaught of empowered ultimates and Herta spins wipes them off the field. This setup is most ideal with E6 March as she can heal allies with her shield.

Dr. Ratio was introduced in HSR as a free 5-star character for everyone who played the game from January 16, 2024 until the end of the 2.1 patch. Those who failed to get him then may have to roll for him in a future banner.

With Imaginary Trailblazer now available in HSR , players can now create teams that focus around exploiting the Break system. One such F2P-friendly team is as follows:

  • Imaginary Trailblazer
  • Any sustain unit (tank or healer)

Imaginary Trailblazer enables an effect called Super Break, which lets allies deal massive bonus damage to any target that already has their Toughness Bars broken. This character pairs extremely well with someone like Sushang, who is significantly more effective against broken enemies.

Bronya is the preferred second Harmony unit here since she can force other team members to take their turn, accelerating Toughness Bar depletion by having the right characters attacking more frequently. Players can get her for free after they do 300 pulls on the standard banner.

Since this is a Break-focused team, players will need to adjust their team based on the elemental weaknesses of the enemy. This reason alone should encourage players to build a wide roster of support and sustain characters.

The cast of playable characters in the game continues to grow with every major patch, and players will soon find that many new and powerful team compositions can be brought to life with 4-star units. Eventually, the roster will become so diverse that players will be actively encouraged to become creative with the teams they form.

The addition of a single unit can create a ton of team building possibilities. Instead of pigeonholing players into specific compositions, the following will explain the strengths of Honkai: Star Rail's latest 4-star characters as well as some example teams where they work best in.

Yukong: Burst Damage and Offensive Buffs

Yukong is the first-ever 4-star Imaginary support unit who focuses purely on offense . She offers massive ATK and CRIT buffs while also being able to deal good damage on her own. Her biggest downside is her Skill's ATK/CRIT buff uses charges that are consumed after any ally's turn ends, which makes SPD and turn management very important when using her.

Some of Yukong's best teammates include:

  • Dan Heng - Imbibitor Lunae
  • Silver Wolf

Luka: Burst Damage, DoT, and Debuffs

Luka is a Nihility character who does a little bit of everything when it comes to attacking. He can inflict Bleeding, deal high burst damage, and debuff enemies to make them take even more damage. He can fit in literally every team composition that needs some form of DPS increase. However, Luka is unable to match the raw damage output of dedicated damage dealers, which means he'll shine the brightest with a team who can make use of his skills.

The best teammates for Luka include:

Lynx: Healing, Cleansing, and Aggro Management

Lynx is arguably the best 4-star healer in the game as of Patch 1.5. She can keep the team alive by topping off their HP bars and removing one debuff from everyone by using her Ultimate. On top of that, she has a very specific interaction with Destruction characters. Once Lynx uses her Skill on a Destruction character, monsters will be more likely to target the healed ally instead of everyone else. This makes Lynx invaluable in high-damage teams with no tank characters.

The best teammates for Lynx are:

It's also worth mentioning that as a healer, Lynx will fit into any other team just fine. The same can be said with all healers unless players are using characters who can self-heal like Fu Xuan and Physical Trailblazer.

Aventurine Build — Best Light Cone, Relic Guide, Honkai Star Rail

A venturine is a 5-star Imaginary Preservation character that we first meet in person in Penacony. This IPC senior manager may have helped us when we arrived in Penacony, but who knows what his real objectives are. With his arrival in Honkai Star Rail during Phase 2 of Version 2.1, players will be able to get him. Should you get him, or plan on getting him, then here’s our Honkai Star Rail guide on the best build for Aventurine, from his Light Cones to his Relics and more.

Do note that this guide is for the currently available or immediately upcoming Light Cones and Relics. Should new sets of Light Cones and Relics appear in Honkai Star Rail that are better for Aventurine, we will be sure to update this guide.

As mentioned above, Aventurine will be available in the game during the second phase of version 2.1. The banner will begin on  April 17, 2024, and will last until  May 7, 2024. He shares the banner with Lynx, Luka, and Serval. Other than Aventurine, players can also try to pull for Jingliu.

Aventurine Abilities Overview

We already talked about Aventurine’s abilities  in a separate article. However, for this guide let’s go through them quickly.

Aventurine is a 5-Star Imaginary Preservation character. The Path of Preservation focuses on keeping their team alive either by using Shields or by reducing the damage they take. In Aventurine’s case, he takes advantage of stacking Shields.

His Basic Attack, Straight bet, deals Imaginary DMG to a single enemy scaling off of his DEF. His Skill, Cornerstone Deluxe, provides his entire team with a shield that scales off of his DEF. This shield stacks with repeated use of the Skill. His Ultimate, Roulette Shark, gives Aventurine 1 to 7 stacks of Blind Bet, which we will get to later. It also applies Unnerved on a single enemy, while dealing Imaginary DMG scaling off of his DEF to said enemy. Enemies with Unnerved will receive increased Crit DMG.

His Talent, Sights Aimed Right, provides Effect RES to those affected by Aventurine’s shield. Additionally, when an ally with the shield is attacked, Aventurine gains a stack of Blind Bet, If Aventurine himself is attacked while under the effects of the shield, he also gains a Crowd Control resist (once every 2 turns). When Blind Bet stacks reach 7, Aventurine carries out a 7-hit follow-up attack on random targets. His Technique, The Red or the Black, gives Aventurine either a 24%, 36%, or 60% increase in DEF for two turns.

Aventurine Traces Priority

When leveling his traces, focus on leveling his Ultimate first, to increase the total damage that it deals, as well as the increased CRIT DMG amount.  Follow this up with his Skill, which increases the Shield amount that allies receive. Next is his Talent, which increases the DMG it deals, as well as the Effect RES it gives allies. Finally, level his Basic Attack, as you will likely be using his Skills and Ultimate more than his Basic Attack.

As for the Major Traces, it’s enough to get them in order. That is, get Leverage first, then Hot Hand, and finally Bingo!

Aventurine Light Cones Guide

All values given here are at maximum Superimposed.

Inherently Unjust Destiny : Increases the wearer’s DEF by 64%. When the wearer provides a Shield to an ally, the wearer’s CRIT DMG increases by 64%, lasting for 2 turn(s). When the wearer uses a follow-up attack and attacks an enemy, there is a 160% base chance to increase the DMG taken by the attacked enemy by 16%, lasting for 2 turn(s).

This is Aventurine’s best-in-slot Light Cone build, as it increases all of the right stats, while also synergizing with his kit. For starters, the DEF increase helps improve his entire Kit, and since he provides shields to his allies, he also enjoys the increased CRIT DMG. Additionally, since his follow-up attack is AOE (although by chance), he can potentially apply the increased DMG taken on the entire enemy team.

Destiny’s Threads Forewoven : Increases the wearer’s Effect RES by 20%. For every 100 of DEF the wearer has, increases the wearer’s DMG dealt by 1.2%, up to a maximum DMG increase of 48%.

This is a decent Light Cone for Aventurine, as it works well with his DEF scaling. Reaching 4,000 DEF will allow Aventurine to get the full amount of DMG increase from this Light Cone. Additionally, this synergizes with his Leverage Major Trace, which also requires 4,000 DEF for Aventurine to enjoy its 48% CRIT Rate increase.

Concert for Two : Increases the wearer’s DEF by 32%. For each character with a Shield on the field, the DMG dealt by the wearer increases by 8%.

This is an upcoming Light Cone and can work well for Aventurine. Since his skill provides a shield to his entire team, Aventurine will always get the maximum stacks of the DMG increase.

This Is Me! : Increases the wearer’s DEF by 32%. Increases the DMG of the wearer when they use their Ultimate by 120% of the wearer’s DEF. This effect only applies 1 time per enemy target during each use of the wearer’s Ultimate.

This Light Cone is also a good alternative for Aventurine, as it empowers his Ultimate’s DMG well. This helps improve Aventurine’s Ultimate DMG, as players will likely be focusing on improving his follow-up attack DMG when it comes to Relics.

Day One of My New Life : Increases the wearer’s DEF by 24%. After entering battle, increases All-Type RES of all allies by 12%. Effects of the same type cannot stack.

This Light Cone serves more of a stat stick for Aventurine, thanks to the 24% DEF increase. It also helps the entire team thanks to the All-Type RES. The only downside is that it does not give much else other than being a stat stick.

Aventurine Relics Guide

Knight of Purity Palace

  • Increases DEF by 15%.
  • Increases the max DMG that can be absorbed by the Shield created by the wearer by 20%.

This Relics set is perhaps the best build for Aventurine out of those available, as it improves two things, The first is, of course, the DEF increase. This empowers Aventurine’s Kit. The other is that it strengthens the Shields that Aventurine provides his entire team. This means that his shields are doubly improved by this artifact set

Inert Salsotto

  • Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s current CRIT Rate reaches 50% or higher, the wearer’s Ultimate and follow-up attack DMG increases by 15%.

This Planar Ornament will improve Aventurine’s Ultimate and follow-up attack, thanks to the Relics set’s 15% increase in DMG. Not only that, but the player does not even have to try and get a CRIT Rate Body or CRIT Rate substats for the 50% requirement, as Aventurine’s Trace gives him 48% CRIT Rate as long as he has 4,000 DEF.

Broken Keel

  • Increases the wearer’s Effect RES by 10%. When the wearer’s Effect RES is at 30% or higher, all allies’ CRIT DMG increases by 10%.

Broken Keel is another good Planar Ornament for Aventurine, although this Relics build will turn him more into a support character. The Effect RES requirement is easy to fulfill, thanks to Aventurine’s Talent giving up to 25% Effect RES at level 10. As such, the CRIT DMG buff will be easily available. This does, however, not give any increase to his Shielding, which may not be ideal.

Belobog of the Architects

  • Increases the wearer’s DEF by 15%. When the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate is 50% or higher, the wearer gains an extra 15% DEF.

This is a decent Planar Ornament for Aventurine for his Relics build, as it can potentially increase his DEF by 30%. The downside is that the player will have to invest in Effect Hit Rate. This may be a bit difficult for two reasons. The first is that the Effect Hit Rate may be hard to improve to 50% without using the Body slot, so the total DEF of the build will go down. Not only that, but even if the player does reach 50%, Aventurine himself does not have any debuffs that he can apply outside of his Signature Light Cone. As such, this may not be very ideal.

For Aventurine’s Relics Stats, try to get DEF% for his Body, SPD for the Feet, DEF% for the Sphere, and either ER% or DEF% for the Rope. For Substats, get SPD, then HP%, and finally Effect Res. If Aventurine does not have 4,000 DEF, it may be ideal to focus on getting DEF% substats as well.

Aventurine Team Guide

Aventurine excels in follow-up teams thanks to his Bingo! Trace, which gives him a stack of Blind Bet whenever an ally with his shield does a follow-up attack. Although his shield can still be used outside of follow-up teams, it shines brightest inside of one.

Here are some possible team compositions for Aventurine

Premium Follow-up Team

  • Aventurine Shielder
  • Topaz and Numby Main DPS
  • Clara Sub DPS
  • Huohuo Healer

This is one possible iteration of a follow-up team for Aventurine, taking advantage of the currently available follow-up characters in Honkai Star Rail. Topaz and Numby, in particular, work well with Aventurine, as her Basic Attack, Skill, as well as Numby are all considered follow-up attacks. That means that Aventurine can potentially get two Blind Bet points at a time from Topaz and Numby alone. The same can be said for Clara, as when she gets hit by an enemy attack and retaliates, Aventurine can also receive two stacks of Blind Bet. Huohuo is here to help increase the team’s ATK and Energy, which will allow Topaz and Clara to empower their follow-up attacks with their Ultimates.

Other options for follow-up attackers include Dr. Ratio (allowing for a mono-imaginary team with Welt and Luocha), Himeko (but may be slow thanks to the nature of her follow-up attack), and Jing Yuan.

F2P Aventurine Team

  • March 7th Sub DPS/Shielder
  • Xueyi Main DPS
  • Gallagher Healer

This is a possible F2P team for Aventurine, which takes advantage of two F2P follow-up characters that the player may have. March 7th’s counter applies to all Shielded allies, so she will likely be Countering the entire time while Aventurine’s shields are up. Xueyi will serve as the Main DPS thanks to her ability to reduce Toughness regardless of element, as well as her follow-up attack. Gallagher is a strong Healer for the team, as well as a sort of debuffer thanks to his Ultimate.

Other F2P options include Dr. Ratio (but only if the player was able to claim their free copy), and Herta (which everyone should have a copy of).

These team compositions are just suggestions. It is up to the player how they want to use Aventurine.

That’s all for our guide on Aventurine’s best Light Cones and Relics build in Honkai Star Rail. Aventurine will be available for drawing once Phase 1 of Version 1.6 goes live . Players interested in getting his must make sure to roll during said banner. Check out our gaming news articles for the latest in gaming news.
