In the wall paintings of the Roman period, architectural elements performed as a stonemason's work, stucco decoration, marbling or incrustation, as well as whole spatial-architectural entities were often imitated. This paper deals with architectural elements presented in the wall paintings of Sirmium, the centre of the Roman province of Pannonia, a colony and an imperial residence, whose remains are situated in the present-day Sremska Mitrovica in Serbia. It was founded in the second half of the 1st century BC and lasted until the Avarian attacks at the end of the 6th century AD.

Aquaporins (AQPs) function as tetrameric structures in which each monomer has its own permeable pathway. The combination of structural biology, molecular dynamics simulations, and experimental approaches has contributed to improve our knowledge of how protein conformational changes can challenge its transport capacity, rapidly altering the membrane permeability. This review is focused on evidence that highlights the functional relationship between the monomers and the tetramer. In this sense, we address AQP permeation capacity as well as regulatory mechanisms that affect the monomer, the tetramer, or tetramers combined in complex structures. We therefore explore: (i) water permeation and recent evidence on ion permeation, including the permeation pathway controversy—each monomer versus the central pore of the tetramer—and (ii) regulatory mechanisms that cannot be attributed to independent monomers. In particular, we discuss channel gating and AQPs that sense membrane tension. For th...

Purpose Flavopiridol downmodulates antiapoptotic proteins associated with resistance to fludarabine and rituximab and is effective against p53-mutated chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). We conducted a phase I study of flavopiridol, fludarabine, and rituximab (FFR) in patients with mantle-cell lymphoma (MCL), indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (B-NHL), and CLL to determine the activity of FFR. Patients and Methods Therapy included fludarabine 25 mg/m2 intravenously (IV) days 1 to 5 and rituximab 375 mg/m2 day 1 every 28 days for 6 cycles. We administered flavopiridol 50 mg/m2 by 1-hour IV bolus (IVB) day 1 (n = 15); day 1 to 2 (n = 6); 20 mg/m2 30-minute IVB + 20 mg/m2 4-hour IV infusion (n = 3); or 30 mg/m2 + 30 mg/m2 (n = 14). Results Thirty-eight patients (median age, 62 years) with MCL (n = 10); indolent B-NHL including follicular (n = 9), marginal zone (n = 4), lymphoplasmacytic (n = 1), or small lymphocytic lymphoma (n = 3); and CLL (n = 11), were enrolled. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) was applied to 148 lung neuroendocrine tumours (LNETs) comprising the four World Health Organization classification categories: 53 typical carcinoid (TCs), 35 atypical carcinoid (ACs), 27 large-cell neuroendocrine carcinomas, and 33 small-cell lung carcinomas. A discovery screen was conducted on 46 samples by the use of whole-exome sequencing and high-coverage targeted sequencing of 418 genes. Eighty-eight recurrently mutated genes from both the discovery screen and current literature were verified in the 46 cases of the discovery screen, and validated on additional 102 LNETs by targeted NGS; their prevalence was then evaluated on the whole series. Thirteen of these 88 genes were also evaluated for copy number alterations (CNAs). Carcinoids and carcinomas shared most of the altered genes but with different prevalence rates. When mutations and copy number changes were combined, MEN1 alterations were almost exclusive to carcinoids, whereas alterations ...

8.5 Testing a Research Using the z Test 8.6 Research in Focus: Directional Versus Nondirectional Tests 8.7 Measuring the Size of ... The method of hypothesis testing can be summarized in four steps. We will describe each of these four steps in greater detail in Section 8.2. 1. To begin, we identify a hypothesis or claim that we feel should be ...
"A hypothesis is a conjectural statement of the relation between two or more variables". (Kerlinger, 1956) "Hypothesis is a formal statement that presents the expected relationship between an independent and dependent variable."(Creswell, 1994) "A research question is essentially a hypothesis asked in the form of a question."
- Characteristics of a good Hypothesis. - Hypothesis Testing. - Errors in Hypothesis Testing 1. Introduction: Hypothesis is usually considered as an important mechanism in Research. Hypothesis is a tentative assumption made in order to test its logical or empirical consequences. If we go by the origin of the word, it is derived from the Greek ...
The solution to this problem takes four steps: (1) state the hypotheses, (2) formulate an analysis. plan, (3) analyze sample data, and (4) interpret results. W e work through those steps below ...
In general, a hypothesis test is implemented using a decision rule given the test statistic. We focus on decision rules like the following:: \If jT(Y)j s, then reject the null; otherwise accept the null." In other words, the test statistics we consider will have the property that they are unlikely to have large magnitude under the
The researcher states a hypothesis to be tested, formulates an analysis plan, analyzes sample data. according to the plan, and accepts or rejects the null hypothesis, based on r esults of the ...
Step 5: Present your findings. The results of hypothesis testing will be presented in the results and discussion sections of your research paper, dissertation or thesis.. In the results section you should give a brief summary of the data and a summary of the results of your statistical test (for example, the estimated difference between group means and associated p-value).
The testing of a statistical hypothesis is the application of an explicit set of rules for deciding whether to accept the hypothesis or to reject it. The method of conducting any statistical hypothesis testing can be outlined in six steps : 1. Decide on the null hypothesis H0 The null hypothesis generally expresses the idea of no difference. The
HYPOTHESIS TESTING STEPS IN HYPOTHESIS TESTING Step 1: State the Hypotheses Null Hypothesis (H 0) in the general population there is no change, no difference, or no relationship; the independent variable will have no effect on the dependent variable o Example •All dogs have four legs. •There is no difference in the number of legs dogs have.
23.1 How Hypothesis Tests Are Reported in the News 1. Determine the null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis. 2. Collect and summarize the data into a test statistic. 3. Use the test statistic to determine the p-value. 4. The result is statistically significant if the p-value is less than or equal to the level of significance.
Hypothesis Testing. Is also called significance testing. Tests a claim about a parameter using evidence (data in a sample. The technique is introduced by considering a one-sample z test. The procedure is broken into four steps.
Case1: Population is normally or approximately normally distributed with known or unknown variance (sample size n may be small or large), Case 2: Population is not normal with known or unknown variance (n is large i.e. n≥30). 3.Hypothesis: we have three cases. Case I : H0: μ=μ0 HA: μ μ0. e.g. we want to test that the population mean is ...
Effect size. Significance tests inform us about the likelihood of a meaningful difference between groups, but they don't always tell us the magnitude of that difference. Because any difference will become "significant" with an arbitrarily large sample, it's important to quantify the effect size that you observe.
The Idea of Hypothesis Testing. test is a statistical procedure to obtain a statement on the truth of falsity of a proposition, on the basis of empirical evidence. This is done within the context of a model, in which the fallibility or variability of this empirical evidence is represented by probability.

IJESRT Journal. Hypothesis is usually considered as the principal instrument in research. It plays a major role in research. Its main function is to suggest new experiments and observations. It occupies a very small space in the thesis. A researcher cannot proceed in the research work without formulating one or more than one hypothesis.
in view are known as diagnostic research studies). (iv) To test a hypothesis of a causal relationship between variables. (Such studies are known as hypothesis-testing research studies). Characteristics of Research: Following are the characteristics of research; (i) Research is directed toward the solution of a problem.
hypothesis? Hence in the testing hypothesis, one must make all possible efforts to strike an adequate balance between type 1 and type 2 errors. 5) Two tailed and one tailed tests :- in the context of hypothesis testing there two terms are quite important and must be clearly understood. A two tailed test reject the null hypothesis if say, the
This unit is divided into 11 sections. Section 9.1 is introductory in nature. In Section 9.2, we defined the hypothesis. The concept and role of critical region in testing of hypothesis is described in Section 9.3. In Section 9.4, we explored the types of errors in testing of hypothesis whereas level of significance is explored in Section 9.5.
Once you have formulated your hypothesis, you will design an experiment or study to test it this is the primary research phase of your dissertation. This involves choosing a research design, selecting a sample, and collecting data. 1. Choose a Research Design. Decide on a research design that suits your hypothesis.
The present paper discusses the methods of hypothesis formation, statistical concepts of hypothesis testing, confidence interval in Pharmacy. Testing of Hypothesis: The test of hypothesis discloses the fact whether the difference between the computed statistic and hypothetical parameter is significant or otherwise.
A hypothesis is a statement of the researcher's expectation or prediction about relationship among study variables. The research process begins and ends with the hypothesis. It is core to the ...
The Hypothesis Testing Process Suppose the sample mean age was X = 20. This is significantly lower than the claimed mean population age of 50. If the null hypothesis were true, the probability of getting such a different sample mean would be very small, so you reject the null hypothesis. In other words, getting a sample mean of 20 is so unlikely if the population mean was 50, you conclude that ...
The scientific method is an empirical method for acquiring knowledge that has characterized the development of science since at least the 17th century. The scientific method involves careful observation coupled with rigorous scepticism, because cognitive assumptions can distort the interpretation of the observation.Scientific inquiry includes creating a hypothesis through inductive reasoning ...
The data analysis method uses multiple linear regression and hypothesis testing, with performance measurement involving aspects of quality, quantity, cooperation, initiative and reliability. The research results show that simultaneously motivation, work discipline, and compensation have a significant influence on employee performance.
A general method of estimating parameters in continuous univariate distributions is proposed. It is especially suited to cases where one of the parameters is an unknown shifted origin.
