It's a very small correction, but it portrays you in a positive sense first (resolved) instead of a negative sense (fear). Have an interesting intro. Don't start with "I have always wanted to be a doctor." Instead, hook the reader. Make them want to keep reading. Start with an interesting, personal vignette.

Turning 30, pursuing med school but don't know where to start
Per the title, Im turning 30 in a few months and feel absolutely defeated that I squandered my best years to get into med school but incredibly motivated to rectify my situation. I've wanted to be a doctor most of my life, at a minimum since I was 14. I got out of the Army in 2016 and jumped right into college 2 months later.

OMG NO THEY WEREN'T) 3) Show, not tell. HOLY COW this is so important. When you talk anything about yourself, like "you learned to be empathetic," or "learned to be compassionate," don't say that and instead, SHOW how you became empathetic and or compassionate.

However, it gets to a point where there can be too much. People will start to give conflicting ideas and start to make you want to change it in different ways. Just be careful not to let it become "their" personal statement and not yours. Take everything with a grain of salt, and understand the reasons behind their corrections.

Hey y'all, I'm writing my personal statement for TMDSAS. I include a sentence I said in Spanish to a patient when I noticed she was struggling to converse in English. In my original draft, there was an upside-down question mark and a tilde over the "n" in the sentence, according to proper Spanish grammar.
