Who is Apostle Joshua Selman?

Apostle Joshua Selman is a Nigerian gospel minister , singer and televangelist. He is the founder and senior pastor of the Eternity Network International (ENI) church which is also known as “Koinonia”.

He has been cited as one of the 100 most influential Christian ministers in Nigeria by some sources.

Apostle Joshua Selman’s childhood and education

Apostle Joshua Selman’s full name is Joshua Selman Nimmak. He was born on June 25, 1980, in Jos, Plateau State as the second child of four children. The 41-year-old minister is originally from Zaria, Kaduna State. He obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State.

Selman was raised in a devout Christian home which contributed to his passion for ministerial work. It was said that as a child he preferred being alone and just studying the word of God and praying to going out to play with his peers.

According to reports gathered by DNB Stories Africa , his late maternal grandfather, Reverend Rindap Damina Bawado was the first president of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) from 1951 to 1981.

How Apostle Joshua Selman became a minister

Apostle Selman started his ministerial career right from a tender age. His strong Christian background helped him to develop the courage to preach and share the gospel. It was said that the vibrant pastor became born again as a child during his secondary school days.

According to reports, Selman and some friends embarked on a ministerial journey right from their campus days, evangelising and performing miracles in the name of Christ. However, they backslid at some point after their belief was referred to as “heresy”.

Selman re-traced his steps back to his faith and belief after he had an encounter on December 2, 2002, when, according to him, someone tapped him in his sleep and he immediately knew it was Jesus when he woke up, though he couldn’t explain how he knew.

He became an assistant pastor at Christ Gospel Church, Samaru, Zaria in Kaduna upon his graduation from school, neglecting his profession as an engineer. He would later on become a senior pastor at the same ministry before he started his own church in 2011.

Apostle Joshua Selman founded his church, the Eternity Network International (ENI) in March 2011 in Zaria at the age of 30. Prior to this, he has organized different crusades, revivals, and apostolic conferences within the country, especially in the Northern part and already garnered some reputation for his style of preaching.

Selman has made it known that he is influenced by globally recognized men of God, including the likes of Bishop David O. Oyedepo, Reinhard Bonnke, Benny Hinn, T. L Osbourne, among others.

Eternity Network International (ENI) is also known as “Koinonia” which is a Greek word for “Christian fellowship with God or fellow Christians”. The church is located at 15/16 Alin Basawa Road, CGC, opposite 2nd ECWA Church, New Extension, Samaru, Zaria.

The church is known for its focus on demonstrating the power of the Holy Spirit, revealing the Kingdom’s wealth, and financing God’s end-time agenda.

She obtained a degree in Mass Communication from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna state and was said to have worked as the Personal Assistant to a legislator of the National House of Representatives of Nigeria.

Sandra Chinelo Areh is said to have described herself as a “cuisine connoisseur” and she is mostly seen at religious gatherings or conferences attended or organized by Apostle Selman.

Apostle Joshua Selman ‘s controversial statement

Apostle Joshua Selman was heavily criticized in the media in July 2020 after he made a controversial statement during a pastor’s conference. The man of God had said that anyone who desires to be successful and popular in Nigeria must step foot in Lagos or Abeokuta as the cities are prophetically covenanted in the spiritual realm for those who understand the things of the spirit.

The statement caused an uproar in the media and was received with some criticism by his fans and believers. It led to disagreement, bantering, and even name-calling which made the apostle clear the air in an interview with Pastor Dele Osunmakinde.

Selman made it known that he is human and it is only normal for him to make mistakes. He said the statement was not taught as a doctrine, adding that he is still a student who takes corrections anytime he is called to it provided it is God’s truth. He advised that the public should make constructive criticism and make corrections with love rather than finding joy in bringing a person down.

I listened to that message and I could relate to it . Apostle is a spiritual man and it could be a rhema he received. Why criticize him ? What did he say that was amiss? Do christians not go to Jerusalem on pilgrimage? What if somebody decides to go to the place where Christianity started in Nigeria and connects with that place? Also, we all have times when we feel weak and don’t know what to do. The Holy Spirit helps us align with God’s will by interceding for us during those times. “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God” (Romans 8:26-27). . The work of the Holy Spirit in a Christian’s life is an ongoing process of becoming holy through sanctification.

Apostle Joshua Selman Nimmak , born on June 25, 1980, is a profound teacher of God’s word and the founder of Koinonia (Eternity Network International).

Apostle Joshua Selman is from Langtang in the Nigerian state of Plateau. He was bred and educated in Zaria, Kaduna State.

His primary and secondary schools are not well documented, but he received his tertiary education at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria, where he studied chemical engineering and also had the opportunity to begin his work as a minister of God as an undergraduate, preaching and sharing the gospel to fellow students in school with the help of his friends.

Apostle Joshua Selman’s ministry began while he was a student at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria. His yearning for God intensified while he was at university. He would frequently go to the dam to pray and seek God to reveal his life’s purpose to him. One night, he had a vision in which he was standing in front of a tower that resembled one of the University dorms when he suddenly saw an endless sea of people. They were all wailing and crying because there was no food or drink. He was overcome with sympathy for them right away. It appeared in the vision that he had the key to their answers, and they confirmed that he was the reason they were where they were. He then informed them he’d be right there to fix it, and then he fell asleep.

This was the moment he realized God had called him to be a preacher and priest. The most spectacular encounter he had was when Jesus Christ appeared and stood before him. All Jesus had to do was extend His hand towards him, and a bright light shone down on him. That meeting brought a new level of anointing and knowledge into his life, as he began to have unprecedented insight into the Word. Apostle Joshua Selman and his pals made the most of the opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ with their fellow classmates. They kept up the habit, preaching at every event they were allowed to.

During his undergraduate days, God utilized Apostle Joshua Selman extensively in prophetic, healing, and miraculous work. In March 2011, he formed the Eternity Network International (ENI) in Zaria, Kaduna State, in response to his discovery of the great anointing upon him and in response to the direction of the Holy Spirit. In the same year, the ministry launched a program called KOINONIA. Koinonia is a Greek word that translates literally as “communion or closeness.”

EARLY LIFE OF APOSTLE JOSHUA SELMAN

Apostle Joshua Selman hails from Jos, Plateau state in Nigeria but was raised and schooled in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The supernatural manifestation of Gods power in his life attests to the fact that he had received an early calling to serve God.

He got born again as a child, during a Sunday School session.

In his Secondary school days, God brought a mentor his way who helped him formulate a quiet-time time table and also taught him the basics of Christian character.

This really helped as he had complex issues and also the challenge of how to reconcile his dreams with all he was seeing around him.

Therefore, he was opened up to the motivation that he needed as he really loved God. He then began to pursue God truly and sincerely from his heart.

As a teenager, his unwavering love for God even at the time caught the attention of a lot as he had an inclination for spiritual things.

Growing up the Apostle was always found alone reading and studying the bible diligently while his peers were playing . That helped in preparing and shaping him for the task ahead.

Shortly, he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit after a man of God who was invited ministered and thus began his ‘journey’ to the realm of the supernatural.

Himself and four other friends began to do the extraordinary in their school by simply applying their faith. Amongst other miracles, this birthed the healing of a stammerer. Along the line, some of the things he walked in were called heresies.

This made himself and his friends backslide but that changed by the encounter he received on the 2nd of December, 2002 where someone tapped him on the hand while he slept and as he awoke, he knew it was Jesus though he couldn’t explain how he knew.

This was his first encounter with Christ. He then began to cry profusely as he rededicated himself for the Master’s use.

Record holds that he had a dream in which he was ministering in the university and also started having encounters with heavenly personalities and notable apostles of God.

Therefore, it is only right to say that the boy already had an idea of what was waiting for him before he stepped his feet in the university.

Apostle Joshua Selman’s ministry started when he was on campus – Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

While in the University, his hunger for God grew. He would often go to the dam to pray and ask God to reveal to him his purpose in life.

One night, he had a vision in which he was standing in front of a tower that looked like one of the University hostels, suddenly, he saw a sea of people having no end.

They were all crying and sobbing saying there was no food and water. He immediately felt immense compassion for them.
