Submitting a Kaltura Video to a Blackboard Assignment
You can follow these step-by-step instructions to submit a Kaltura video to an Assignment in Blackboard Ultra.

Important: DO NOT delete a Kaltura file that you have submitted as part of an assignment. This will make the file unavailable for marking by your instructor.
Kaltura is the University's video server and is used by staff and students to store videos and audio files.
For information on the recommended video upload settings, refer to the Video Content Recommendations guide.
Submit through the assignment submission link
Note: Do not use Safari web browser when uploading video assignments through this process.
Video guide
Access the assignment submission link.
- Access your Learn.UQ course.
- From the Course Menu , select Assessment .
- Open the required assessment item folder.
- Click on the assignment submission link .
- Click on the Create Submission button.
Warning: DO NOT use the 'Attach Files option" for your video file, as it will take a long time to upload and your course coordinator will have difficulty viewing it.
- If required, click on the 3 dots (...) to view the full-text editor.
- Click on the Add Content (+) button.
Option 1: Upload and attach a video/audio file
Click the + Add New button and select Media Upload from the drop-down menu.
- Click on the + Choose a file to upload button.
- Select and open the required file(s)
Tip: For further information about how long files can take to upload, refer to the Understanding Upload Speeds guide.
- Click on the Save and Embed button.
Option 2: Attach a previously uploaded video/audio file
- Click on the </> Embed button to submit a video/audio file from the list.
Option 3: Record and attach a webcam recording
- Click the + Add New button and select Express Capture from the drop-down menu.
- The webcam will launch in a new window.
- Click on the Allow button to allow Kaltura access to your microphone and camera.
- Click on the record button to start a recording.
- Click on the stop button to stop a recording.
- Click on the Use This button to save your recording.
- Alternatively, click on the Record Again button to discard the recording and start again.
- Enter a video name in the Name textbox.
- Add a short description of the video in the Description textbox – refer to assignment instructions.
- Enter your course code in the Tags textbox - or as specified by your instructor.
- Click on the Save button.
- Click on the Back link.
- Click on the </> Embed button for the webcam recording you want to submit.
Submit the video/audio file
The video or audio file will be embedded in the text editor.
Note: You will not be able to 'play' the submitted video within the text editor.
- If required, upload your additional files, e.g. Word, PowerPoint, pdf etc. files by clicking on Upload Files .
- Click on the Browse Local Files or Browse Cloud Service button.
- Locate and select a file.
- Repeat for any additional files you need to attach OR
- Alternatively, drag and drop your file into the dotted box.
Tip: You can attach multiple files before submitting.
- Click on the Submit button to submit the assignment.
- You will then be presented with the successful submission screen.
Upload and submit a file to the course gallery
- Access Learn.UQ .
- Click on the Institution Page .
- Select My Media from the Useful links section.
- Click on the + Add New button and select Media Upload from the drop-down menu.
- Click on the the Actions button below the media player and select Publish from the drop-down list.
Submit an existing file to the course gallery
- Click on the Institution Page .
- Check the checkbox next to the video you want to submit.
- Click on the the Actions button and select + Publish from the drop-down list.
- Select the Published radio button.
- The video or audio file will be published to the Course Gallery (pending means it is only visible to your course coordinator via the Course Gallery).

Leave a video comment. Upload a file as a comment. Reply to another user. Select the user's comment. Click Reply. Now, you will see the reply options. Select one and create your comment.
