ర జనీకాంత్‌ ( Rajinikanth ) సినిమా వస్తుందంటే తమిళ ప్రేక్షకులే కాదు, తెలుగు వారూ ఎంతో ఆసక్తిగా ఎదురు చూస్తుంటారు. ఇక్కడ కూడా ఆయన సినిమాలకు మంచి మార్కెట్‌ ఉంది. రెండేళ్ల కిందట వచ్చిన ‘పెద్దన్న’ తర్వాత ఆయన నుంచి మరో సినిమా రాలేదు. అది కూడా బాక్సాఫీస్‌ వద్ద మిశ్రమ స్పందనలు అందుకుంది. ఈ క్రమంలో కేవలం మూడు సినిమాలు మాత్రమే దర్శకత్వం వహించిన నెల్సన్‌ దిలీప్‌కుమార్‌కు అవకాశం ఇచ్చి అందరినీ ఆశ్చర్యపరిచారు రజనీ. ఇక ప్రచార చిత్రం చూసిన తర్వాత పాత రజనీని గుర్తు చేశారు. మరి ‘జైలర్‌’లో రజనీ పాత్ర ఏంటి? కథేంటంటే: ముత్తు అలియాస్ ముత్తువేల్ పాండ్య‌న్ (ర‌జ‌నీకాంత్‌) ఓ రిటైర్డ్ పోలీస్ అధికారి. నీతి, నిజాయ‌తీగా ప‌నిచేసిన ఆయ‌న గురించి బాగా తెలిసిన‌వాళ్లు టైగ‌ర్ అంటుంటారు. త‌న  భార్య (ర‌మ్య‌కృష్ణ‌),  ఏసీపీగా ప‌నిచేస్తున్న త‌న‌యుడు అర్జున్‌, మ‌న‌వ‌డే లోకంగా జీవితం గ‌డుపుతుంటాడు. నేర‌స్తుల‌ ప‌ట్ల క‌ఠినంగా వ్య‌వ‌హ‌రిస్తాడ‌నే పేరున్న అర్జున్ ప‌నితీరుని చూసి త‌నలాగే త‌న కొడుకు నీతి నిజాయ‌తీల‌తో ప‌నిచేస్తున్నాడ‌ని గ‌ర్వ‌ప‌డుతుంటాడు. ఇంత‌లోనే విగ్ర‌హాల దొంగ‌త‌నం ముఠా నాయ‌కుడైన వ‌ర్మ (వినాయ‌క‌న్‌) పని వల్ల ముత్తువేల్‌ కుటుంబానికి తీరని అన్యాయం జరుగుతుంది. ఆ విష‌యాన్ని పోలీసులు కూడా బ‌య‌ట పెట్ట‌లేని ప‌రిస్థితి. అంత‌టితో ఆగ‌కుండా ముత్తువేలు కుటుంబాన్ని కూడా అంతం చేయ‌డానికి సిద్ధ‌ప‌డ‌తాడు వ‌ర్మ‌. త‌న కుటుంబానికే అపాయం ఏర్ప‌డింద‌ని తెలుసుకున్న ముత్తు ఎలాంటి నిర్ణ‌యం తీసుకున్నాడు? ఎలా ఉందంటే: మాఫియా, ప్ర‌తీకార నేప‌థ్యం, కుటుంబ అంశాల మేళ‌వింపుగా రూపొందిన ఓ రిటైర్డ్ పోలీస్ అధికారి క‌థ ఇది. ర‌జ‌నీకాంత్ మార్క్ మాస్ స్టైల్‌,  హీరోయిజమే ప్ర‌ధానంగా సాగుతుంది. ఒక్క మాట‌లో ఆయ‌న వ‌న్‌ మ్యాన్‌ షో ఇది. ‘విక్ర‌మ్‌’ సినిమా త‌ర‌హాలో ఓ మాఫియా ముఠాని, దానికి నాయ‌కుడైన వ‌ర్మ క్రూర‌త్వాన్ని ప‌రిచ‌యం చేస్తూ ఆరంభ‌మ‌వుతుందీ చిత్రం. పాత్ర‌ల్ని ప‌రిచ‌యం చేయ‌డానికి స‌మ‌యం తీసుకున్న ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు..  ఆ త‌ర్వాత అస‌లు క‌థ‌ని మొద‌లుపెట్టాడు. తాత‌య్య ముత్తుగా, ఇంట్లో ప‌నులు చూసుకునే రిటైర్డ్ పోలీస్ అధికారిగా చాలా స‌హ‌జంగా ర‌జ‌నీకాంత్‌ని ప‌రిచ‌యం చేశాడు. కుటుంబం చుట్టూ స‌న్నివేశాల్ని మ‌లిచి వినోదం పంచాడు. ర‌జ‌నీకాంత్ - యోగిబాబుల మ‌ధ్య కామెడీ ట్రాక్ న‌వ్విస్తుంది. ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధంలోని ప్ర‌ధాన ఆక‌ర్ష‌ణ‌ల్లో ఆ ట్రాక్ కీల‌కం. అర్జున్ మిస్సింగ్ త‌ర్వాతే అస‌లు క‌థ మొద‌ల‌వుతుంది. (Jailer movie review in telugu) త‌న కొడుకు ఆచూకీ కోసం ముత్తువేలు పాండ్యన్‌ రంగంలోకి దిగాక ఎదుర‌య్యే ప‌రిణామాలు ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తిస్తూ ప్రేక్ష‌కుడిని క‌థ‌లో లీనం చేస్తాయి. ఒక ప‌క్క తన‌యుడి మ‌ర‌ణానికి కార‌ణ‌మైనవాళ్ల‌ని అంతం చేస్తూనే... మ‌రోప‌క్క  కుటుంబాన్ని కాపాడుకునేందుకు చేసే ప్ర‌య‌త్నాలు ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటాయి. త‌న అస్త్రాల్ని సిద్ధం చేసుకోవ‌డం కోసం ర‌జ‌నీ చేసే ప్ర‌య‌త్నాలు.. విరామానికి ముందు వ‌చ్చే పోరాట ఘ‌ట్టాలు సినిమాకి మ‌రింత హైలైట్‌.

త‌న ఇంట్లోనే జ‌రిగే ఆ పోరాట ఘ‌ట్టాలు ర‌జనీలోని పూర్తి స్థాయి యాక్ష‌న్ కోణాన్ని ఆవిష్క‌రిచండంతోపాటు, ద్వితీయార్ధంపై మ‌రింత ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తిస్తాయి. అనుకున్న‌ట్టుగానే సెకండాఫ్‌ మొద‌లైనా ఆ త‌ర్వాతే క‌థ అనూహ్యంగా  ప‌క్క‌దారి ప‌డుతుంది. విల‌న్ డిమాండ్‌కి త‌లొగ్గ‌డం, అత‌ని కోరిక మేర‌కు కిరీటం తీసుకొచ్చే స‌న్నివేశాలు నేల విడిచి సాము చేసిన‌ట్టుగా అనిపిస్తాయి. (Jailer movie review in telugu) ర‌జ‌నీ ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్ స‌న్నివేశాలు కూడా అంత‌గా మెప్పించ‌వు. పైగా బ‌ల‌హీనంగా క‌నిపించే ర‌జ‌నీకి ఆ గెట‌ప్ అత‌క‌లేదు. అయితే ప్రీ క్లైమాక్స్‌కి ముందు వ‌చ్చే మ‌లుపు త‌ర్వాత మ‌ళ్లీ సినిమా గాడిన ప‌డుతుంది. శివరాజ్‌కుమార్‌, మోహ‌న్‌లాల్‌, జాకీష్రాఫ్‌ల అతిథి పాత్ర‌లు సినిమాకి ఆక‌ర్ష‌ణ‌గా నిలిచాయి. ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధంతో పోలిస్తే  ద్వితీయార్ధం అంతంత మాత్ర‌మే అనిపించినా... ర‌జ‌నీ త‌న‌దైన న‌ట‌న‌తో సినిమాని నిల‌బెట్టారు. అభిమానుల‌కైతే ఈ సినిమా మ‌రింత కిక్ ఇస్తుంది.

‘అర్థమైందా రాజా..’ 70 ఏళ్ల వయసులోనూ రజనీ మాటల తూటాలు..!

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే: అంతా తానై న‌డిపించాడు ర‌జ‌నీకాంత్‌ ( Rajinikanth ).  తాత‌య్యగా తెల్ల‌టి జుట్టు, గెడ్డంతోనే తెర‌పై క‌నిపించినా స‌రే... త‌న మార్క్ మాస్ అంశాలు ఎక్క‌డా త‌గ్గ‌కుండా చూసుకున్నారు. ఆయ‌న స్టైల్‌,  హీరోయిజం సినిమాకి ప్ర‌ధాన ఆక‌ర్ష‌ణ‌గా నిలిచాయి. తండ్రీ త‌న‌యుల క‌థ కావ‌డంతో ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాల్లో మంచి భావోద్వేగాల్ని కూడా పండించారు. న‌ర‌సింహ‌గా శివ రాజ్‌కుమార్‌, మాథ్యూగా మోహ‌న్‌లాల్ తెర‌పై చేసిన సంద‌డి సినిమాకి ప్ర‌ధాన ఆక‌ర్ష‌ణ‌. జాకీష్రాఫ్ పాత్ర కూడా చిన్న‌దే. ర‌మ్య‌కృష్ణ గృహిణిగా క‌నిపించారు. ఆమె పాత్ర‌కి అంత‌గా ప్రాధాన్యం లేదు. Jailer Movie Review: చాలా కాలం నుంచి రజినీకాంత్ సరైన హిట్టు కోసం ఎదురు చూస్తున్నాడు. చివరిగా అన్నాత్తే అంటే తెలుగులో పెద్దన్న అనే సినిమాతో ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చిన ఆయన జైలర్ అనే సినిమాతో ఈ గురువారం నాడు ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చాడు. తమిళంలో తెరకెక్కిన సినిమాని తెలుగులో కూడా డబ్బింగ్ చేసి రిలీజ్ చేశారు. కన్నడ స్టార్ హీరో శివ రాజ్ కుమార్, మలయాళ స్టార్ హీరో మోహన్ లాల్, హిందీలో స్టార్ క్రేజ్ ఉన్న జాకీ ష్రాఫ్ తో పాటు మలయాళం లో విలన్ పాత్రలకు పెట్టింది పేరైన వినాయకన్ కీలక పాత్రలలో నటించిన ఈ సినిమా అనౌన్స్ చేసినప్పటి నుంచే అందరి దృష్టిని ఆకర్షించింది. ఈ సినిమాలో రజనీకాంత్ సరసన రమ్యకృష్ణ నటించగా తమన్నా, సునీల్, యోగి బాబు వంటి వారు ఇతర కీలకపాత్రలో నటించారు. జైలర్ సినిమా నుంచి విడుదలైన ప్రమోషనల్ కంటెంట్ సినిమా మీద ఒక్కసారిగా అంచనాలు అమాంతం పెంచేసింది. మరి సినిమా ఎలా ఉంది అనేది రివ్యూలో చదివి తెలుసుకుందాం.

కథ: గతంలో తీహార్ జైల్లో జైలర్ గా బాధ్యతలు నిర్వర్తించిన టైగర్ ముత్తు వేలు పాండియన్(రజనీకాంత్) రిటైర్మెంట్ అనంతరం కుమారుడి కుటుంబంతో కలిసి గడుపుతూ ఉంటాడు. కుమారుడు అర్జున్(వసంత్ రవి) ఏసీపీ. నీతి నిజాయితీతో ఉండాలని తండ్రి మాటలే పరమావధిగా పనిచేస్తూ ఉంటాడు. అయితే ఒక విగ్రహాల స్మగ్లింగ్ ముఠా హెడ్ వర్మ(వినాయకన్) తో పెట్టుకున్న అర్జున్ అనూహ్య పరిస్థితిల్లో మిస్ అవుతాడు. పోలీసులు అతను చనిపోయాడని కేసు క్లోజ్ చేస్తారు. తన కుమారుడిని ఇంత నిజాయితీగా పెంచడం వల్లే దూరం చేసుకోవాల్సి వచ్చిందని బాధపడిన ముత్తు అసలు తన కుమారుడి చావుకి కారణమైన వారెవరో తెలుసుకుని వారిని అంతమొందించాలని ప్రయత్నం చేస్తాడు. ఈ క్రమంలో తన పాత స్నేహితులైన శివరాజ్ కుమార్, మోహన్ లాల్ ,జాకీ శ్రాఫ్, మకరంద దేశ్ పాండే వంటి వారు ఎలా సహాయపడ్డారు? చివరికి తన కుమారుడిని కాపాడుకోగలిగాడా? లేదా? అనేది ఈ సినిమా కథ.

విశ్లేషణ: నెల్సన్ దిలీప్ కుమార్ దర్శకత్వంలో తెరకెక్కిన ఈ జైలర్ సినిమా కథ కొత్త కథ ఏమీ కాదు. గతంలో మనం చూసిన సినిమాల్లోని కధలను పోలినట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది కానీ ఈ సినిమాని తెరకెక్కించే విషయంలో మాత్రం నెల్సన్ జాగ్రత్తలు తీసుకున్నట్టు అనిపించింది. చివరిగా బీస్ట్ సినిమా చేసిన నెల్సన్ ఆ తర్వాత ఈ సినిమా మీద ఫోకస్ పెట్టాడు. రజనీకాంత్ లాంటి యాక్టర్ దొరికినప్పుడు ఆయన హీరోయిజాన్ని ఎలివేట్ చేసే విషయంలో శ్రద్ధ పెట్టి చేసినట్లుగా అనిపించినా ఎందుకో కథ విషయంలో ఆ శ్రద్ధ పెట్టలేదేమో అనిపించింది. రిటైర్మెంట్ తర్వాత తన పాత జీవితాన్ని వదిలేసి తన మనవడికి సైతం భయపడే వ్యక్తిగా నటించిన రజనీకాంత్ ఆ తర్వాత పరిస్థితుల నేపథ్యంలో ఒక్కసారిగా ఎలా మారిపోయాడు అనే విషయాన్ని నెల్సన్ చాలా చక్కగా తెరమీదకు తీసుకొచ్చి ప్రేక్షకులను కన్విన్స్ చేసే ప్రయత్నం చేశాడు. ఫస్ట్ ఆఫ్ లో యోగి బాబుతో రజినీకాంత్ కాంబినేషన్ సీన్లు బాగా పండాయి.

సైలెంట్ కామెడీతో పొట్ట చెక్కలయ్యేలా చేశారు. అయితే ప్రీ ఇంటర్వెల్ సీన్ మాత్రం ఒక్కసారిగా సినిమా చూస్తున్న ప్రేక్షకుల అందరిలో ఉత్సాహాన్ని నింపేసింది. ఫస్టాఫ్ కొంచెం సాగతీతగా అనిపించినా సెకండ్ హాఫ్ లోకి అడుగుపెట్టిన తర్వాత కథలో వేగం పెరుగుతుంది. స్టోరీ రొటీన్ అనిపించినా సరే అందులో ట్విస్టుల విషయంలో కొంత సస్పెన్స్ మెయింటైన్ చేసి ఉంటే రిజల్ట్ వేరే లెవెల్ లో ఉండేది. సినిమా మొత్తాన్ని రజినీకాంత్ హీరోయిజం, అనిరుద్ రవిచంద్ర బ్యాక్గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్, యోగిబాబు కామెడీ సీన్లు నడిపించేశాయి. వీటికి నెల్సన్ దిలీప్ కుమార్ కదా కథ కథనాలు కూడా తోడై ఉంటే జైలర్ ఎవరు ఊహించని లెవల్లో దూసుకుపోయేది. క్లైమాక్స్ మాత్రం ఎవరూ ఊహించని విధంగా హార్డ్ హిట్టింగ్ అనిపించింది. ఒకరకంగా చెప్పాలంటే రజిని అభిమానులకైతే ఇది పంచభక్ష పరమాన్నాలతో సిద్ధం చేసిన విందు భోజనం లాంటిది.

ఎవరు ఎలా చేశారు అంటే? ముందుగా నటీనటుల విషయానికి వస్తే సినిమా మొత్తాన్ని రజనీకాంత్ తన భుజస్కందాల మీద నడిపించినట్లు అనిపించింది. మామూలుగానే రజినీకాంత్ నటన గురించి ప్రత్యేకంగా చెప్పాల్సిన పనిలేదు. దానికి తోడు ఆయనకు బాగా ఈజ్ అనిపించేలా వయసుకు తగ్గ పాత్ర పడటంతో ఇక ఆయన రెచ్చిపోయి తనలో ఉన్న నటుడిని సంతృప్తపరచుకునేలా నటించాడు. ముఖ్యంగా ప్రీ ఇంటర్వెల్ సీన్ తో పాటు విలన్ కి వార్నింగ్ ఇచ్చే సీన్ అలాగే మరికొన్ని సీన్లలో రజినీకాంత్ యాక్టింగ్ అయితే అబ్బుర పరుస్తుంది. ఇక ఈ సినిమాలో రజనీకాంత్ కుమారుడు పాత్రలో నటించిన వసంత రవి ఆయన భార్య పాత్రలో నటించిన రమ్యకృష్ణ సెటిల్డ్ పెర్ఫార్మన్స్ ఇచ్చారు. రమ్యకృష్ణ నటనకు పెద్దగా అవకాశం లేకపోయినా తన పరిధి మీద ఆకట్టుకునే ప్రయత్నం చేసింది. ఇక కన్నడ స్టార్ హీరో శివా రాజకుమార్, మలయాళ స్టార్ హీరో మోహన్ లాల్ హిందీ స్టార్ యాక్టర్ జాకీ ష్రాఫ్ వంటి వారు తెర మీద కనిపించింది తక్కువ సమయం అయినా వారు వచ్చినప్పుడు మాత్రం థియేటర్లు ఊగిపోయేలా బ్యాగ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ తో పాటు ఎలివేషన్స్ ఇచ్చారు.

మొత్తానికి వారందరికీ ఈ సినిమా మంచి ఒక మెమరీ లా ఉండిపోతుంది అని చెప్పొచ్చు. ఇక తెలుగు యాక్టర్ సునీల్ పాత్రకు పెద్దగా స్కోప్ అయితే లేదుm వాడుకునే అవకాశం ఉన్నా ఎందుకో పక్కన పెట్టినట్టు అనిపించింది. యోగిబాబు ఎప్పటిలాగానే నవ్వించాడు. నాగబాబు కూడా ఒకే ఒక సీన్ లో మెరిసేడు. నెల్సన్ దిలీప్ కుమార్ ఇంతమంది స్టార్ హీరోలను సినిమాలో భాగం చేసినప్పుడు కథను ఇంకొంచెం డెప్త్ ఉండేలా రాసుకుని ఉంటే బాగుండేది సినిమా రిజల్ట్ వేరేలా ఉండేదనిపిస్తుంది. ఇక తెలుగులో డైలాగులు బాగున్నాయి. సినిమా మొత్తాన్ని రజనీకాంత్ తో పాటు అనిరుద్ రవిచంద్రన్ తన భుజాల మీద మోసినట్లు అనిపించింది. అనిరుధ్ రవిచందర్ పాటలతో పాటు బ్యాగ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ కూడా దుమ్ము దులిపేశాడు. సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ కూడా సినిమాకి మంచి అసెట్ అని చెప్పొచ్చు. నిడివి విషయంలో ఎడిటర్ కాస్త జాగ్రత్త తీసుకుని ఉంటే బాగుండేది.

ఇక ఫైనల్ గా చెప్పాలంటే జైలర్ రజనీకాంత్ కి ఒక సాలిడ్ కం బ్యాక్.. థియేటర్లలో ఎక్స్పీరియన్స్ చేయాల్సిన సినిమా ఇది.

Superstar Rajinikanth has been waiting for a solid success. He teams up with Nelson who made Beast with Thalapathy Vijay. The duo’s Jailer garnered good buzz. Rajini’s fans are going gaga over the film. Will Rajini make a comeback and deliver a blockbuster? Let’s check out.

What is it about?

Muthu (Rajinikanth) is a retired man who has no big goals in life, but leads a normal life with a beautiful family. His son Arjun is a sincere police officer dealing with dreaded criminal Varma (Vinayakan). Arjun risks life and fights against Varma and goes missing. Muthu learns about his son Arjun’s death. He shifts to violence path. He takes revenge against his son’s killers and goes against Varma. But things aren’t easy as Varma threatens Muthu’s family. Muthu has a past. What is his flashback? How Muthu takes on Varma and what are the shocks that he gets in between. The rest of the film is how Muthu deals with Varma.

Performances :

Undoubtedly, Rajinikanth excelled in his role. He single-handedly pulled off the film. His style and swag are what entice his fans. Director Nelson made sure there are elevations for Rajini and gave some fan moments. His look and dress are impressive. His old getup is terrific in particular. Even in vintage character, Rajini didn’t miss his swag. It’s a treat to fans to see him in different shades. His dialogues and subtle performance is the strength of the film. Sunil’s sequence is wasteful and irritating. The film has an ensemble cast and significant cameos like Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Naga Babu. Jackie Shroff is seen in a decent role. Yogi Babu’s comedy is alright. Some comedy scenes in the first half are engaging. 

Technicalities :

Nelson weaved a very old story and presented it by making some fancy touch ups. He failed as a writer and does a decent job as a director. But that is not enough to steer the film of this magnitude. Anirudh Ravichander shines and rescues the film. The Hukum song is well composed. The background score adds weight to the crucial sequences. Visuals are appealing. Action scenes have been shot well. The scale of the film is large and grand.

Drawbacks :

Villain’s Characterisation & Conflict Failed Emotion Dragged Portions in Second Half

Jailer starts well, without wasting time. Rajini makes a simple entry as a family man. The plot of the hero’s son being a sincere guy and facing problems is as age old as hills. How the hero takes control to protect his family and takes revenge is the Jailer’s plotline. This is packaged with a lot of other factors. The packaging is where some worked and some failed miserably.

The emotion of father-son is not handled well and it backfired. The villain’s characterisation is irritating at portions. He is crooked and gruesome, but he is not taken seriously. The comedy portions in the first half are decent. But they could have been better. 

The writing of Jailer is where the problem is. It is formulaic and predictable. The scenes lack enough gravity to hook to the film. The Sunil episodes in the second-half are very forced. That’s where the film nosedived. And then it travels on a predictable path. Rajini couldn’t rescue the film owing to its writing. The film appears to be dragged and stretched.

The climax is somewhat decent though. The guest appearances of Shivaraj Kumar and Mohanlal are not effective enough. Director Nelson made a futile attempt despite getting such a solid cast and crew. He tried to make Vikram-like film but couldn’t deliver it. On the whole, Jailer is strictly made for Rajini fans. Barring this, it has nothing much to offer.

Verdict: Only For Rajini Fans!

What’s it about?

Muthu (Rajinikanth), a retired police officer, lives a normal life with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. His regular life is unremarkable. One day, his police officer son goes missing. The police have asked Muthu and his family to remain silent, as it would be embarrassing for the force as a whole if word got out that an officer had been abducted.

After couple of days, they determine that an idol-theft gang is responsible for the officer’s disappearance and that they may have already murdered him.

The gang that steals idols from temples also threatens to eliminate the rest of Muthu’s family. Muthu’s first victim is the man who tried to harm his grandson. Then, he tracks down the gang’s leader, Varma (Vinayakan), and tells him that his plans to steal other idols will fail if he keeps going after his family members.

Varma initially arrives offering peace, but then gives Muthu new video footage and demands his assistance in robbing an antique Crown. Is Muthu going to accept Varma’s offer, and if so, how will he safeguard his family?

“Jailer” is a vengeance drama directed by Nelson, whose last film, “Beast,” starred Vijay. The first half and the second half of this action drama are very different from one another. One episode after another unfolds superbly in the first half of the film, but the second half lacks strength due to its uneven narrative.

As soon as it becomes clear that Rajinikanth’s police officer son has been kidnapped, the film’s plot takes an exciting turn. Even when things slow down, the intense drama laced with subtle humor keeps you engaged. Nelson Dilip Kumar has brilliantly designed action episodes and written some solid scenes for Rajinikanth.

A couple of the scenes are especially terrific. 1) Rajinikanth’s handling of two thugs who are chasing him and making derogatory comments about his daughter-in-law. The way the episode ends stuns everyone. 2) Yogi Babu’s search for the idols’ transport vehicle and the ensuing action scene 3) The sniper fight scene that takes place just before interval.

Even after the intermission, the film keeps us interested for about fifteen to twenty minutes before suddenly switching into a farcical mode. The film goes off the rails when Sunil’s character is introduced as someone who is interested in movies and acting. We can’t help but think of Sreenu Vatila’s films “Dookudu” and “Baadshah” as we watch this whole episode. The film loses the gravity it had in the first act. Hence, the impact of the film is diminished.

The second half isn’t as interesting as the first half, with the exception of the climax scene. The final sequence is the saving grace, though. Of course, the film has many similarities with films and web dramas such as “Nobody” and “Mare of Easttown”.

Superstar Rajinikanth hasn’t been this good in quite some time. He’s cast in a role that’s appropriate for his age, and he brings all of his signature flair and swagger to the part. He is in top form as an actor as well.

Vinayakan, who plays the villain, receives good marks. Ramya Krishna gets a raw deal. She isn’t important in the overall scheme. Yogi Babu makes you laugh. Mohan Lal and Shiva Rajkumar appear in guest roles. Tamannaah is more of an item girl here.

Cinematography and music are the best among the technical departments. Anirudh’s background score is terrific.

Bottom line: “Jailer” has a strong start but a shaky finish. The first half of the film is fantastic and riveting. The second half, on the other hand, is far too routine. Overall, an average film but Rajinikanth is in top form.

'జైలర్' కథేంటి? ముత్తు(రజినీకాంత్) అలియాస్ టైగర్ ముత్తువేల్ పాండియన్ రిటైర్డ్ జైలర్. కుటుంబంతో కలిసి ఓ ఇంట్లో నివసిస్తుంటాడు. అందరూ ఇతడిని టీజ్ చేస్తుంటారు. ఇకపోతే ముత్తు కొడుకు అర్జున్(వసంత్ రవి) అసిస్టెంట్ కమీషనర్ ఆఫ్ పోలీస్ (ఏసీపీ). చాలా నిజాయతీగా పనిచేస్తుంటాడు. ఎవరెన్ని చెప్పినా సరే విగ్రహాలు చోరీ చేసే ముఠాతో తలపడతాడు. దీంతో కొన్నాళ్లకు అతడు కనిపించకుండా పోతాడు. ఈ క్రమంలోనే కొడుకు ఆచూకీ కోసం ముత్తు అన్నిచోట్లకు వెళ్తాడు. అలాంటి ముత్తు.. కనిపించకుండా పోయిన కొడుకుని కనిపెట్టాడా లేదా? చివరకు ఏం నిజం తెలుసుకున్నాడు? ఈ స్టోరీలో వర్మ(వినాయగన్), బ్లాస్ట్ మోహన్(సునీల్), కామ్నా(తమన్నా) ఎవరు? అనేది తెలియాలంటే 'జైలర్' చూడాల్సిందే.

ఎలా ఉందంటే? ముత్తు అదేనండి రజినీకాంత్.. విలన్ డెన్‌లోకి వెళ్లి, అతడికి వార్నింగ్ ఇస్తాడు. స్టైల్‌గా కాలు మీద కాలేసుకుని కూర్చుంటాడు. సిగరెట్ తీసి నోట్లో పెట్టుకుని వెలిగిస్తాడు. ఇంటర్‌కట్‌లో మరో రెండు చోట్ల శివరాజ్ కుమార్, మోహన్‌లాల్ కూడా అదే టైంకి సిగరెట్స్ స్టైల్‌గా వెలిగిస్తారు. దీనికి అనిరుధ్ అదిరిపోయే బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ మ్యూజిక్. ఇదంతా చెప్పడానికి చాలా నార్మల్‌గా ఉన్నాసరే.. స్క్రీన్‌పై ఈ సీన్ చూస్తున్నప్పుడు మీరు రజినీకాంత్ మేనియాలోకి వెళ్లిపోతారు. ఇలాంటి సీన్స్ సినిమాలో బాగానే ఉన్నాయి.

ఫస్టాప్ విషయానికొస్తే.. అరక్కోణం అనే ఊరిలోని ఓ గుడిలో పూజారిని మర్డర్ చేసి, విగ్రహాం దొంగతనం చేసిన సీన్‌తో సినిమా ఓపెన్ అవుతుంది. కట్ చేస్తే ముత్తు(రజినీకాంత్), అతడి ఫ్యామిలీ గురించి చూపిస్తారు. పాపం.. రిటైర్ అయి ఇంట్లో ఉండేసరికి మనవడితో సహా అందరూ ముత్తుని ఆడేసుకుంటూ ఉంటారు. చివరకు అదే వీధిలో ఉండే క్యాబ్ డ్రైవర్(యోగిబాబు) కూడా ఏడిపిస్తుంటాడు. కొన్నాళ్లకు తన కొడుకు కనిపించకుండా పోవడం.. పోలీసుల దగ్గరకెళ్లి ముత్తు ప్రాధేయపడటం.. ఇలా సీన్ బై సీన్ మంచి ఫ్లోలో వెళ్తుంది. ఇక ప్రీ ఇంటర్వెల్, ఇంటర్వెల్ అయితే మంచి హై ఇస్తుంది. 

ఇంటర్వెల్ వరకు రజినీకాంత్ ఇమేజ్, స్టోరీని బాగా హ్యాండిల్ చేసిన డైరెక్టర్ నెల్సన్.. సెకండాఫ్‌లో మాత్రం గందరగోళానికి గురిచేశాడు. అప్పటివరకు ఓ టెంపోలో వెళ్లిన కథ.. సెకండాఫ్‌లో ఎటెటో పోతుంది. అసలేం జరుగుతుందని ప్రేక్షకుడు అనుకుంటాడు. ఫైనల్లీ క్లైమాక్స్ వచ్చేసరికి మళ్లీ స్టోరీ గాడిన పడుతుంది. ఓ మంచి హై ఇచ్చే యాక్షన్ సీన్, ఊహించని సీన్‌తో ఎండ్ కార్డ్ పడుతుంది. 'జైలర్' కథ కొత్తదేం కాదు. ట్విస్టులు కూడా ఊహించేయొచ్చు. కరెక్ట్‌గా చెప్పాలంటే స్టోరీలో రజినీకాంత్ హీరోయిజం తప్ప ఇంకేం లేదు!

డార్క్ కామెడీ తీయడంలో స్పెషలిస్ట్ అయిన నెల్సన్.. 'జైలర్' విషయంలోనూ అదే ఫార్ములా పాటించాడు. ఫస్టాప్‌లో రజినీకాంత్-యోగిబాబు మధ్య వచ్చే కామెడీ సీన్స్ బాగా వర్కౌట్ అయ్యాయి. స్క్రీన్ పై కనిపించే యాక్టర్స్ అందరూ సీరియస్ యాక్టింగ్ చేస్తుంటారు. మనకు మాత్రం నవ్వొస్తుంటుంది. అదే 'జైలర్'‌లో మ్యాజిక్. 

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే? 'జైలర్'లో రజినీకాంత్ తన వయసుకు తగ్గ పాత్ర చేశారు. మాస్-క్లాస్-యూత్-ఫ్యామిలీ.. ఇలా అన్ని వర్గాల ప్రేక్షకుల్ని కవర్ చేస‍్తూ ఎంటర్‌టైన్ చేశారు. ఆయనకు ఇలాంటివన్నీ కొత్తేం కాదుగా! తన మార్క్ మేనరిజమ్స్‌తో.. విజిల్స్ వేయించే ఫెర్ఫార్మెన్స్ ఇచ్చారు. ఇంటర్వెల్, క్లైమాక్స్‌లో రజినీ యాక్టింగ్ మీకు కచ్చితంగా హై ఇస్తుంది. రజినీకి భార్యగా రమ‍్యకృష్ణ హుందాగా నటించింది. కొడుకు అర్జున్‌గా వసంత్ రవి డిఫరెంట్ పాత్రలో ఓకే అనిపించాడు. అతిథి పాత్రల్లో కనిపించిన మోహన్ లాల్, శివరాజ్ కుమార్, జాకీష్రాఫ్ నిడివి చాలా తక్కువ. కానీ ఉన్నంతలో వీళ్లకు ఎలివేషన్స్ బాగా పడ్డాయి. 

విలన్‌గా మలయాళ నటుడు వినాయగన్ బాగానే చేశాడు. కానీ అతడు పాత్రలో తమిళ నేటివిటి కాస్త ఎక్కువైనట్లు అనిపించింది. సునీల్ ఇందులో బ్లాస్ మోహన్ అనే సినిమా హీరో పాత్రలో నటించాడు. కానీ ఇతడిని సరిగా ఉపయోగించుకోలేకపోయారు. తమన్నా.. ఓ పాట, రెండు మూడు సీన్స్‌లో కనిపించి ఆకట్టుకుంది. యోగిబాబు, వీటీవీ గణేశ్ ఉన్నంతసేపు నవ్వించారు. మిగిలిన వాళ్లు తమ తమ పరిధి మేరకు పర్వాలేదనిపించారు. 

టెక్నికల్ విషయాలకొస్తే ఈ సినిమాలో రజినీకాంత్ తర్వాత మ్యూజిక్ డైరెక్టర్ అనిరుధ్ మరో హీరో అని చెప్పొచ్చు. పాటల సంగతి పక్కనబెడితే బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ మ్యూజిక్‌తో రజినీకాంత్‌ని ఓ రేంజ్‌లో ఎలివేట్ చేశాడు. మ్యూజిక్ కూడా కొత్తగా అనిపించింది. సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ రిచ్‌గా ఉంది. సన్ పిక్చర్స్ నిర్మాణ విలువలు బాగున్నాయి. ఎక్కడా రాజీ పడలేదు. ఓవరాల్‌గా చెప్పుకుంటే నార్మల్ ఆడియెన్స్‌కి 'జైలర్' నచ్చుతుంది. రజినీకాంత్ అభిమానులకు అయితే ఇంకా బాగా నచ్చేస్తుంది!

The global phenomenon known as Superstar Rajinikanth is a force to be reckoned with, unrivaled in his sway over admirers worldwide. The latest opus to feature this cinematic titan, titled “ Jailer ,” has unfurled its grandeur on the silver screen today, riding the crest of sky-high anticipation. Let us now observe whether this creation ascends to the pinnacles of expectation.

Story: Muthuvel Pandian, lovingly known as Muthu (embodied by Rajinikanth ), is a retired prison warden whose existence revolves around the simple joys of family life. Muthu’s progeny, his son Arjun (portrayed by Vasanth Ravi), stands as an upright police officer committed to his duty. Arjun’s path intersects with Varma (depicted by Vinakayan), an individual engaged in the illicit trade of ancient artifacts and divine idols. The sudden disappearance of Arjun plunges the police force into disarray, evoking a palpable tension. How Muthu navigates this ruthless journey is the story of Jailer.

Performances: The return of Superstar Rajinikanth is a sight to behold. His character, meticulously sculpted by the ingenious Nelson, undergoes a transformation that traverses the spectrum from understated to formidable. This metamorphosis is artfully depicted, culminating in a climactic interval that seizes the senses. Rajinikanth’s innate comedic timing, a facet finely honed, finds delightful expression in “Jailer.” Tamannah looked hot in the Kavallayya song. Vasanth Ravi was decent and Ramya Krishna gave able support to Rajinikanth.

Technicalities: Anirudh ‘s sonic mastery assumes paramount importance, layering scenes with emotional depth and thematic coherence. The way his BGM elevates the film is of another level. Anirudh is one of the heroes of the film. Anirudh’s evocative score enhances Superstar’s presence, cascading through scenes like the Hukum song and the interval, amplifying their visual impact. Vijay Kartik’s cinematography, though respectable, hardly dazzles. The production values stand solid, while judicious trimming could have rectified the pacing issues plaguing the second act. The design for Rajini’s look is good as the hero plays his age in a cool manner.

Analysis: Nelson Dilipkumar ‘s directorial prowess surfaces admirably in his treatment of Rajinikanth, yet falters due to the narrative’s inherent frailty. The initial half is a testament to his skill, but the latter part’s decline exposes shortcomings in scriptwriting. A more substantive script could have bolstered the film’s overall impact. Jailer grapples with a narrative thread stretched to its limits, resulting in a somewhat underwhelming second act.

While the initial half thrives on Rajinikanth’s comedic and theatrical gifts, the latter half falters to sustain the momentum. As the plot falters, the director’s ingenuity appears to wane, and a few comedic subplots, regrettably, fail to revitalize the experience. Certain characterizations, such as Sunil’s and the involvement of Tamannaah, seem to add little value to the overall cinematic liberty.

The fragility of the plot impairs the potential impact of action sequences, failing to evoke the anticipated adrenaline rush. Emotional resonance remains scarce, and the concluding twist, alas, lacks the desired impact. Protracted sequences encumber the film’s pace in its latter half, demanding considerable patience. Much-anticipated appearances by Shiv Rajkumar and Mohanlal yield an impact shy of expectations, while Jackie Shroff’s role feels underutilized. In a way, Jailer is a partially captivating fusion of action and drama, relying predominantly on the prowess and charisma of Rajinikanth

Verdict: Overall, Jailer is for pure Rajini fans. He does not disappoint and has a great role in the film. While the first half and the dark humor are good, the second half falls flat after the solid post-interval scene. From there, Nelson fails to hold the show and only the climax is better making the fans satisfied. The masala that one needs from a Rajini film is missing in Jailer.

Bottom Line – Strictly for Rajini fans

Mutthu (Rajinikanth) is a retired Jailer who is friends with many mafia kingpins. Mutthu’s son is an ACP who tries to nab idol smugglers. Notorious smuggler Varma (Vinayakan) makes the ACP disappear. Fueled by determination, Mutthu decided to take matters into his own hands. Leveraging his relationships in the criminal underworld, he embarked on a relentless quest to find his missing son. After being tracked down by Mutthu, Varma makes a huge demand for Mutthu. The rest of the story is about Muthu’s revenge on the Mafia.

Analysis : Jailer film takes off slowly and gets into the groove within 15 minutes. Then it continues in top gear until the Interval. The Rajini Yogi Babu comedy thread came out well. The subtle comedy gives a different experience for the audience. Thalaiva Rajinikanth looks in his best elements as Mutthu. Be it the family scenes or the scenes with the mental doctor or the Interval block, he is pure bliss to watch. Nelson has added contemporary elements throughout the film. Director Nelson used to do silly comedy in the name of dark comedy, but he hit the ball out of the park in the first half. However, he is back into silly comedy for about 30 minutes in the second half. The entire thread of Blast Mohan (played by Telugu comedian Suneel) is poorly done. The film would blend Rajinikanth’s trademark style with gripping drama, exhilarating action, and emotional depth. The father-son dynamic would take center stage in pre-climax. The climax feels like South India Avengers as Shivanna ( Shivaraj Kumar), Mohanlal, and Rajini are on fire in the superb action block Anirudh is the hero of the film after Rajini and Nelson. Anirudh’s contribution is major for this film to get huge openings. The chartbuster Kavalayya song and Tiger Ka Hukum song are testimonials for Anirudh’s work. On top of the songs, his background score elevates many scenes.

Performances: Rajinikanth is back with a bang as the jailer. All his old-school swag elements are retained, and few are more refined. Siva Rajkumar, Mohanlal cameos are good. Thamannah in her guest role as the heroine is not impressive, but in the song Kavalayya she danced well. Jackie Shroff as Bihari gangster got a small role. Ramyakrishna as Rajini wife got smaller role, she Is adequate. Vinayakan’s villainy is gruesome. Suneel character failed to impress.

Positives: Superstar Rajini’s vintage swag Nelson’s skill in treating the film with contemporary elements. Anirudh’s extraordinary background score Interval Block Post Interval Block and Climax Episode

Negatives: The middle of the second half is cliched. Thin plot point Suneel episode is cringe.

Jailer is a commercial entertainer. After a high first half, the second one slows down a bit. Nelson’s comedy worked well in the first and a bit farcical in the 2nd. Rajinikanth is a strength and saving grace. He is back in his elements throughout the film. Superstars Mohanlal and Sivaraj Kumar’s cameo is a bonus. Anirudh’s BGM is another strength. Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer has hit the theatres today amidst good hype. The film garnered anticipation over the last couple of weeks through its trailer and the now-famous Hukum song. Let us see what the film has to offer to the audience.

Tiger Muthuvel Pandiyan (Rajini) is a retired veteran leading a peaceful life with his family, including his wife Ramya Krishna, his son Arjun, his daughter-in-law Mirna Menon, and their child. Arjun serves as an assistant commissioner of police, entrusted with the responsibility of nabbing the criminals behind the theft of idols from temples. The main antagonist, Varma, kidnaps Arjun. What is Rajinikanth’s past and how he tries to save his family and son forms the crux of the story.

What about on-screen performances?

Thalaivar Rajinikanth is the star of the show, and he exudes trademark swag and energy for most parts. His character is subdued during the opening exchanges and as the film progresses, he gets into his groove. Ramya Krishna is back to sharing the screen with Rajini after 25 long years. Her character is a mixed bag, though. Comedians Yogi Babu and VTV Ganesh evoke comedy. The villain, Vinayakan, is a good find, and he emotes well. Cameo roles lo Mohan Lal and Shivraj Kumar did well. Jackie shroff is just ok

What about off-screen talents?

The director Nelson Dilipkumar is a peculiar commercial director. He utilizes the full swag portion of Rajini. And at the same time, maintains his mark of blending comedy into the proceedings.

The opening part of the film is a bit dragged with not much happening. The makers included a few good scenes in the first half. The temp picks up pre-interval and then the real banger is delivered with the interval portion. The interval block is top-notch with Rajini in full flow.

However, the post-interval scenes are not up to the mark. Right from the beginning to the end of the second half, the story feels a bit boring. The makers tried to generate hype by featuring Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar at the climax of the movie. However, the scenes failed to entertain the audience to the fullest. The emotional scenes between Rajinikanth and his son are not well established and they are not connected to the audience due to a weak story.

Anirudh is one of the main men of the show as he sets things ablaze in important sequences with high-pitched BGM. He uplifts the vibe with his energetic BGM. The visual presentation is also good, thanks to impressive work from the man behind the lend. The production values are top-notch, as one would expect from Sun TV Network.

Verdict: Jailer has its own share of bright moments and also dull blocks. But as a whole it is an avg watch for Rajini and other top cast. Nelson has wasted an golden oppurtunity by not concentrating on 2nd half.

Final Report:

The first half is a bit lengthy, but it offers good content that provides Decent entertainment for the audience. However, the second half, which also has a lengthy runtime, disappoints the audience.

Despite featuring a sensational cast including Rajinikanth, Mohan Lal, and Shiva Rajkumar, the director fails to create a strong impact with the second half. Had the second half featured a gripping story and screenplay, the movie could have achieved phenomenal success
