The rapid increase in investments for computerised systems is a major concern for all health organisations. Questions about these investments arise as information technologyis only one of the areas that are competing for a finite amount of resources. There is also some concern that some of the failures of information technology would have been detected if proper evaluation of information systems were conducted. The state of the art of evaluating information systems shows changes from a very positivist approach tomore comprehensive approaches that would incorporate multiple methods. This paperpresents an assessment of the techniques and methods for information systems evaluation, followed by an application to a case study in community health to illustrate the value of the contextualist approach to evaluation. The paper argues for the use of longitudinal, contextualist approaches to information systems evaluation if decision-makers seek to improve the situation of information systems ...

PDF | Information systems (IS) success is a significant topic of interest, not only for scholars and practitioners but also for managers. ... Information Systems Success: A Literature Review 243 ...
The Chen et al. (2010) study identified three different conceptions of IT/IS strategy prevailing in the literature: (1) "the use of IT to support business strategy", (2) "the master plan of the IS function", and (3) "the shared view of the IS role within the organization". The first conception looks upon IT/IS strategy as instrumental and as an "extended arm" of business strategy.
The first motivation for this special issue was to challenge the prevailing orthodoxy in information systems research, the "narrative synthesis" of previous literature, conducted by verbally describing past studies (King & He, 2005). Usually, the voice of the researcher in a narrative review is absent and an objective stance is adopted.
Summary, conclusions, and limitations. Our comprehensive literature review on IT/IS strategy documents a moderate revival of strategy research during the decade 2008-2018. We were able to identify new trends in the discussion: discussion of supra-organizational strategies; of strategy in turbulent environments; of explorative and innovative ...
1.1 Literature Review Guides for Information Systems Research In this paper, I join the developing stream of research that seeks to improve the quality of IS research's literature reviews. All of these past works make valuable contributions, and I refer often to them as appropriate in this paper.
An Eight-Step Guide to Conducting a Systematic Literature Review. Although we have described the need and value of systematic literature reviews, the rigorous, standardized methodology that has developed from the health sciences and other fields is virtually unknown in information systems research.
The features and value of a systematic literature review are presented, the methodology is adapted, and the features and value are presented to meet the unique needs of IS researchers. Levy and Ellis (2006) and Webster and Watson (2002) lament the fact that information systems (IS) scholars tend to be unaware of the need for structure in literature reviews. Even today, the rigorous ...
Following this approach, the current paper suggests a three-step literature review process to guide novice re-searchers on the development of a sound and effective literature review. The three steps of the proposed literature review process are: 1) Inputs, 2) Processing, and 3) Outputs. Figure 1 provides an overall view of the process proposed.
Communications of the Association for Information Systems (37:43), November 2015, pp. 879-910. This article presents a methodology for conducting a systematic literature review with many examples from IS research and references to guides with further helpful details. The article is available from Google Scholar or from the author's website.
Thus, through a comprehensive review of the extant literature, this study presents a critique of the health information system for healthcare to supplement the gap created as a result of the lack of an in-depth outlook of the current health information system from a holistic slant. From the studies, the health information system was ascertained ...

Analysis of guidelines for systematic literature reviews in the Information Systems field based on 12 influential journal articles published from 2002 through 2018 indicates that there is heterogeneity among the selected articles in terms of defining the purposes of a literature review, but in general there is homogeneity among the guidelines provided by various authors regarding conducting ...

Examples of literature reviews. Step 1 - Search for relevant literature. Step 2 - Evaluate and select sources. Step 3 - Identify themes, debates, and gaps. Step 4 - Outline your literature review's structure. Step 5 - Write your literature review.
WHAT IS A LITERATURE REVIEW? PURPOSES OF A LITERATURE REVIEW. 1. orient your reader by defining key concepts (theoretical) and/or providing relevant background (empirical) 2. "motivate" your research, i.e. demonstrating the relevance of your project. ¡ contribute effectively to science, a collective knowledge-building enterprise.
Modular construction is gaining worldwide attention. Building services are the systems that make buildings comfortable and efficient. Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a chronic autoimmune connective tissue disease that affects more than 2 million people worldwide. It manifests through vasculopathy, an abnormal immunological response, and fibrosis leading to dysfunction of the multiple organs. The disease is categorized into two subtypes: limited cutaneous SSc and diffuse cutaneous SSc. Scleroderma can affect vital organs with ...
