What can i find in the microsoft download center, and how do i find what i’m looking for.

The Microsoft Download Center has recently been revised to better serve you as a one-stop shop for products available for purchase, in addition to products and downloads available for free. For your convenience, items available for purchase are linked directly to Microsoft Store. Items available as free downloads are linked to details pages, where you can learn more about them and initiate downloads.

If you would like Microsoft to scan your computer and recommend updates, please see the preceding question. If you would like to search for specific downloads, start by using one of these methods.

To find products and downloads, in the navigation bar that appears across the center of the Download Center home page, click an icon.
To search more specifically for a product or download, on the menu bar displayed near the top of the page, click a menu name and then click a product or download.
To search by keyword, at the top of the page, in the Search Download Center search box, type the word or words you wish to search for.

On the Search results page, you may see the following:

An Editor's choice listing of products and downloads, which are recommendations based on the search term.
A Sort by box on the right side of the page. Click the down arrow, and select a display order for the search results.
A list of Filter options on the left side of the page. Click a Filter option to narrow the list of items displayed in the search results. The Filter option operates together with the original search term to narrow the scope of search results.

When you see the item you’re interested in, click the item link to find out more about downloading or purchasing it.

How do I find worldwide downloads?

Microsoft delivers downloads in more than 118 languages worldwide. The Download Center now combines all English downloads into a single English Download Center. We no longer offer separate downloads for U.S. English, U.K. English, Australian English, or Canadian English.

Select a Worldwide download from the English-language site

On the download details page for a particular item, under Quick details, you will see a Change language box. Select the desired language from the drop-down list

Note: The Change Language box appears only when a worldwide version of the download is available. If the box does not appear, the download has not yet been made available in languages other than English. If you see the box, but a specific language is not listed, the download is not yet available in that language.

What should I do if I can’t find what I am looking for?

What information will i find on download pages.

When you click a download item in the Download Center, you will be directed to the download details page for that download. Most of these pages follow a standard format and include most of the sections described here.

The Quick details section contains helpful summary information, including the name and size of the download file and its date of publication.

In some cases, you'll see a Change language box, from which you can select a language other than English. Note that some downloads are not available in all languages. In addition, not all non-English downloads are accompanied by localized details pages. As a result, you may find English descriptions and instructions on pages for non-English downloads.

For each file listed, you will see a Download button or link in the Quick details section. Click this button or link to begin the download.

The Overview section includes a brief explanation of the issues addressed by the download and the benefits it provides.

Always check the System requirements section to make sure your computer is compatible with and has the space required to install and run the download. This section may also list required or recommended application software.

Review the Instructions section before clicking the Download button, so you are prepared for any steps you may need to follow.

This lists other items downloaded by people who also downloaded the current item. Information about these related downloads can be very helpful.

This provides further information that is either directly related to the current download or is meant to help keep your system running securely, such as security update information.

These links take you to how-to information, newsgroups, special offers, and other resources pertinent to the download you have selected.

What should I do if I cannot complete a download?

How do i install downloaded software.

Before you can use any software that you download, you must install it. For example, if you download a security update but do not install it, the update will not provide any protection for your computer. Follow these steps to save and install a download:

On the download details page, click the Download button.
A dialogue box will open. Click the Save button.
You will be prompted to select a location for the download on your computer. Select an appropriate location, and click the Save button.
When the file has finished downloading, you will see a second dialog box. If you want to install the file immediately, click the Open button. This launches an installation wizard.
If you do not want to immediately install the file, click the Close button. When you are ready to install the file, double-click the file to launch the installation wizard.

Note: When you save a download file, make sure to save it to a location that you will remember when you are ready to install the download. We suggest creating a special folder on your desktop to which you always save downloads. Follow these steps to create such a downloads folder:

Right-click an unused area of your desktop.
Point to New , and then click Folder .
Give the folder a name, such as My Downloads.

Has anyone got the desktop app yet? OpenAI said that it would start rolling it out to Plus Users today (Not sure if that’ll include Team Accounts). If you have, what are your thoughts? How did you download it?

I haven’t received access to the desktop app either. OpenAI announced that they would start rolling it out to Plus users today, but I haven’t seen it become available yet. As far as I know, you should be able to download the app directly from your account on their website once it’s available. Have you checked your account for access to the download?

Today as part of M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air release day, Harry McCracken at Fast Company published an interview with Apple execs wherein Greg Joswiak shared an interesting detail about Apple’s customer base. That detail has big implications for the current debate about whether Apple might bring macOS to the iPad some day.

It’s rare for Apple to provide detail like this around its device sales and customer patterns. It’s evident from quarterly earnings that the iPad typically sells more units than the Mac, but Apple doesn’t typically disclose whether its Mac or iPad buyers already own one or more of the company’s other devices. Now we have a solid glimpse into the average Mac and iPad buyer’s customer profile.

Apple knowing that the majority of its Mac customers also own an iPad has undoubtedly impacted its internal trajectory for the iPad.

The real threat of product cannibalization

Following another wave of iPad Pro reviews wherein the hardware is seen to outpace the software, many users are calling for Apple to put macOS on the iPad. Perhaps as a replacement for iPadOS, but as many iPad power users argue, Apple could also just make macOS an “escape hatch” of sorts. So the majority of the time you’re using iPadOS, but if you run into an issue that needs Mac software, you could access macOS to solve the problem.

This latter solution might be appealing to Apple for the sole reason that they wouldn’t need to optimize macOS for touch. The Mac could stay the Mac, and the iPad could just tap into macOS’s power as needed, on occasion. The newest iPads do come with M4 and M2 chips, after all.

When Apple turned around in the late 90s they did it by focusing on making great products instead of just trying to make as much money as possible. It feels like they are forgetting that lesson.

However, there’s one big reason this will likely never happen. If iPad owners get access to macOS thrown in for free, then Mac sales will undoubtedly take a major hit.

Even if Apple limited macOS to high-end iPad models, like the M4 iPad Pro, the consequences on Mac sales could be substantial. Especially over time, as the M4 starts to trickle down to the rest of the iPad line.

If Apple can sell customers both an iPad and a Mac, that’s what it’s going to do. Both products are very established, reliable revenue generators for the company. Modern day Apple isn’t going to let that go.

Recording in PowerPoint on Mac

I have seen several videos and tutorials about using PowerPoint for recording videos. It records the slideshow, your audio, and allows you to write or draw on the screen. I cannot figure out how to get it to work on my Mac. I am using the desktop version for Mac. I have a teacher O365 account.

Note: I know about Zoom, Screencastify, Screencastomatic, Teams Meeting, and all the others. I would like help specifically with recording in PowerPoint.

Using Templates in PowerPoint for Mac

PowerPoint templates can help you design interesting, compelling, and professional-looking presentations. They contain content and design elements that you can use as a starting point when creating a new presentation. All the formatting is complete; you just add the content.

Apply a template to a new presentation

Open PowerPoint, and you'll see a set of standard templates in the gallery. If you're already working in PowerPoint, click File > New from Template to see the templates.

(In version 2011, you then select All under the Templates category.)

You can choose one of the standard templates, or, if you want to find a more specific template, type a search phrase in the Search All Templates box, such as business plan, report, business proposal, training, or calendar. You'll find hundreds of options from templates.office.com that you can use as a starting point for your presentation.

When you find the template you want to use, double-click it, or select it and click Create .

The template is downloaded to PowerPoint, and you are ready to begin working on your presentation.

Improved but needs a little more.

The app is a little better than the Noteshelf 2, however it could go a little further. I have been with Noteshelf since the first version and I see the change. One of my pet peeve is not having the ability to draw lines or rotate items on the 0, 15, 30 90 degree angle "easily". I think it should have a free and a set option. Rotating something 90 degrees should be easier, not fighting with the 1 degree off. It should have a flip / mirror option. Those are just two things I fight with on the regular. It has other things that could use adjusting but over all it is a good app. I have tried others and they have features that this one doesn’t, but I find myself using Noteshelf the most. Hopefully a rep from NS will read this…..when you upgrade and import the books, does it convert the old book to a new one? Or does it modify the old book. Do I now have 2 copies of the book? If so can I sadly delete the old book? My books are large and contain lots of pictures and audio thus it takes up a lot of space. Definitely need to know this info before I run out of space and find out the hard way. It you have made it this far in my review…… the app is worth it. I would buy it again.

Room for Improvement!

I have used Noteshelf for over 8 years and recommended it to everyone. I would always give it 5 stars and is my go-to app for almost everything. But, NS3 needs more work to get my 5 star rating again. I Easily transferred from NS1 to NS2. For me Transferring to NS3 has been a pain. First, not all of my custom templates transferred, many of which are related to my businesses. I had to transfer them one at a time. For the hyperlinks to work you need to be in read only mode...never had to do that before and seems read mode turns off all the time. Im not comfortable with the tool bars...technically 3. I would prefer the pen, highlight and erase bar be on same tool bar as colors. I would prefer having my favorite colors remain open like NS2. The erase/return is also separate from the others. This last update just created more issues...but once they get it all together, hopefully all will be good. I love that they added AI. Now I just wish they would let me add stickers from outside vendors that better relate to my business. They do have very good customer service, my reason for the 4th star. Hopefully soon, I'll be able to recommend them again as being the best. I

Long time Noteshelf 2 user

Love Noteshelf 2 and was excited to see what Noteshelf 3 brought. Love the new design and features all very welcome. Love to see the update keep them coming. However it feels like 3 steps forward 2 steps back. I feel like you changed how certain worked just to change them and you changed them for the worst. When they worked just fine in Noteshelf 2. Such as the zoom view, share options, all seem to have bugs that make it perform worse than in Noteshelf 2 or the old way was far superior. Some cool features I’d like to see added if possible. I take a lot of math notes for work and it would be great if you could include math translate feature to convert hand written math into latex,png. To have inline math with the handwritten notes for ease of reading or for sharing. Something like nebo does. I think I will stick to Noteshelf 2 for now until some of the bugs get worked out.
