My Garden Essay

Everyone needs a place to relax. Some prefer libraries, while others prefer teahouses and cafés. My ultimate choice to find peace is my garden. There is something about the green grass, colourful flowers, chirping birds, and woody trees that instantly calms me down in any tense situation. No other place, yoga session, or therapy has had that effect on me. Here are a few sample essays on “My Garden”.

My Garden Essay

100 Words Essay On My Garden

“Green Heaven” is the name of my garden. It is my favourite place in the house. I built this garden plant by plant with the help of my grandmother. We cleared the backyard of our house and with some old gardening tools, we planted our first sapling in a corner. It bloomed in a few weeks. I never looked back after that.

Today, my garden has over 20 flowers including my favourite - white lilies, and five different fruit trees. I also love roses grown in my garden. During spring, my garden looks like heaven with lots of butterflies, birds and small insects making their home in it.

200 Words Essay On My Garden

My day starts with a cup of tea, a newspaper, and the fruity and flowery smell in the air as I sit in the midst of my garden. I love the essence and vibe of my garden. It fills me with calmness and energy every morning. After doing a walk, I also practise yoga with my grandfather in my garden. Whenever I feel restless and disturbed, I seek refuge in my garden only. It gives me so much peace.

Teamwork Of My Elders

My garden is an outcome of a joint project undertaken by my father and grandfather. They both are very fond of planting trees. My grandfather was a farmer, and therefore has a tremendous amount of knowledge of different varieties of fertilisers, shrubs, herbs, and trees. His knowledge helped us to grow our small rough patch of land into this wonderful garden which now has over 50 different plants. We have planted seven different varieties of roses. My grandfather has also planted many herbal plants such as Tulsi and Neem. He makes tea and even medicines occasionally from these leaves.

My favourite place in the garden is the branches of the huge Mango tree in the corner. It was planted by my grandfather 10 years ago. I love to spend my time sitting on that branch.

500 Words Essay On My Garden

When we moved from the high-rise 3 BHK flat in Mumbai to the suburbs, I was disappointed and sad. The only good thing about our new house was that it was relatively bigger than our flat. The house also had a backyard which was used as a secondary car garage by the previous owners.

How It Was Set Up

Since we didn’t have a second car, my father cleared out the backyard, and we were left with a large patch of empty land. It was my grandmother’s idea to convert the land into a small, beautiful and cosy garden. My grandmother always loved gardening. Back in the flat, she used to tie up small flower pots in the railings. Now was the perfect time to make her part-time gardening hobby into a full-blown garden. My father and my uncle tiled up the entire land and planted grass. It took a few weeks, but soon the whole land was greener than grasshoppers. After that, they used a lawn mower and trimmed down the grass. That is how my garden was born.

Plants It Houses

After that, with the passing of time and the dedication and passion of gardening in my mother, grandmother and eventually I, we completely transformed that place into a beautiful, lush green garden.

Vegetables | My garden has many vegetables grown by my mother. We have tomatoes, brinjals, radishes, and chillies. We often use them in our daily meals, and they turn out very delicious.

Flowering Plants | Not only that, but we also have many plants in my garden. The flowering plants are mostly planted by me. My father gifts me a flower sapling every year on my birthday. By now I have rose, lily, marigold and hibiscus plants. They look very pretty in the months of spring. The red rose is my favourite as it attracts many butterflies.

Medicinal Plants | My grandmother has planted many herbal and medicinal plants. She has planted a Tulsi tree in the centre of the garden, and she worships it daily. I love munching on the tulsi plant leaves.

Fountain | This year, on my birthday, I requested my father to have a fountain. A few weeks ago, we got the water fountain installed in the garden. It enhanced my garden’s beauty ten-fold.

My Love For My Garden

We don’t have a gardener to look after our garden. I love to take care of my garden on my own. I borrow the gardening tools from my grandmother and trim excess leaves, cut the stems and even water the plants on a daily basis. It feels very calming to take care of my own garden. Whenever my friends come, they immediately rush to the garden. We play near the fountain, do our homework, and even plan picnics on the weekend in my garden only.

My garden has made me forget how upset I was about moving to the suburbs. Now that I think back, it was one of the best decisions of my life. I always find comfort and safety in my garden. It feels like all these trees and plants are my friends and I love caring for them. In spring, many birds and insects make my garden their own home. I also love feeding the bird in my garden. Now I think gardening is one of the best hobbies in the world, and I love my garden so much.

It is my mother who maintains the garden at our place just as she takes care of various other household chores. She is a huge nature lover and it was her idea to build a beautiful garden at home even though there isn’t a lot of space here. Most of the people in our neighbourhood have converted this place in their house into car parking area or have covered the place to build a small room. But my mother chose to convert this small piece of land into a lovely garden.

Our garden is full of colourful flowers. We have a row of roses on one side and a row of seasonal flowers on the other side. These flowers include marigold, petunia, pansy, hollyhock, aster, alyssum, hibiscus, sunflowers and lilies. It is extremely delightful to see these flowers blooming. My mother ensures that the plants get water and manure regularly so that they grow and bloom the way they should. I also help my mother with these activities.

It gets difficult for me to return as I feel so attached to the very essence of the places where nature can be seen in its pure, unadulterated form.

My Garden – My Idea

While I cannot bring along hills and valleys back home, I can certainly feel the enchanting smell of the flowers and plants by growing some at my place. As we were coming back from our trip to Assam, I was missing the lush green tea gardens and the beautiful flowers in the botanical garden there. It was like I had left my heart there. It was then that the idea of growing my own garden sprang in my mind. I spoke about it to my sister and she was equally thrilled.

Since we live in a flat, we did not have a proper area that could be turned into a garden. However, we could certainly fill one of our balconies with different types of flowers and feel their aroma fill in our house.

We spoke about the idea with our parents and they agreed to it on the condition that we will have to take care of the entire thing on our own.

Our Visit to the Nursery

On the weekend that followed, I and my sister visited the nearby nursery. There were numerous flowers out there and it was difficult to choose a few among them. It took almost 2 hours to choose the plants we wanted to get home. Among the flowering plants we choose rose, marigold, pansy and aster. Besides, we also brought home areca palm, spider plant, aloe vera, basil and asparagus. The nursery in-charge told us ways to take care of different plants so that they remain green for long.

We handpicked the plant pots. Most of them were white coloured plastic pots of the same size. We called home a gardener to place all the plants in the pots. Once this was done, we arranged the pots strategically so that the entire balcony was evenly covered with them. It looked beautiful.

We visit the nursery quite often to pick more plants to add to our collection. Seasonal flowers do not last long and we love picking different plants to fill their place.

I personally take care of each and every plant grown in my garden. Our balcony turned garden is extremely beautiful and we often receive compliments for the same from our neighbours and friends.

My Garden Essay 4 (500 words)

I always wanted to grow a garden at my place but it did not seem possible as we lived in a small flat in Delhi. There was a beautiful garden at my friend, Riya’s place and I wished we had one too every time I saw it. My prayers were soon heard and we shifted to my father’s home town, Chandigarh. The house here was big and there was enough space that could be turned into a garden.

Hiring a Professional Gardener

Luckily for me, my mother is as fond of plants and flowers as me. Thus, I did not have to convince her to grow a garden she too wanted to do it. After we got settled in the new place, we decided to shape the barren piece of land at our place into a garden. Since, the house had been vacant since years the soil in the garden was not good enough to grow grass and plants immediately.

So, my mother decided to hire a professional gardener. He worked on the soil for about a week during which he watered it regularly, used different tools to dig it and poured manure. Soon after, he planted grass and a few plants. We were delighted to see our little garden blooming.

Growing the Garden

I and my mother decided to visit the nursery to buy different plants for our garden. It was summer season and the nursery was blooming with pink and white lilies, colourful hibiscus, roses, pansies, sunflowers and bougainvillea. We loved them all and it was extremely difficult to choose among them. After mulling for over an hour, we finally choose a few saplings of hibiscus, bougainvillea, lilies and roses.

The saplings we brought were planted strategically in different parts of the garden. The bougainvillea being a climber was planted near the fence. Within a month it climbed the fence and spread over it. The beautiful bunches of pink flowers that grew on it were a visual treat. We decided to plant similar flowers together. So the roses were planted in one corner. A row of lilies was set close by and hibiscus plants were planted at the other corner of the garden. It all looked extremely beautiful. The plants soon found their roots in the garden and small buds began to spout. Each time I saw a bud, I got extremely thrilled. Our garden was soon blossoming with flowers. The sweet fragrance of the flowers filled our house.

It has been 3 years now and my garden is filled with a variety of flowers and leafy plants. We keep bringing different types of flowers from time to time. However, roses, lilies and bougainvillea can always be found in my garden. We have also added a row of basil. The aroma of basil is quite soothing. We also use it in our kitchen quite frequently.

We still have the same professional gardener who works with dedication and takes care of my garden very well.

It is quite amazing to have a garden at home. I am thankful that we shifted to a city like Chandigarh where I could have the luxury of growing a garden.

My Garden Essay 5 (600 words)

For me, a garden is an integral part of the house. This is because I have seen one at my place ever since I my childhood. I have learned to crawl, walk and eat in my garden. I have numerous fond memories attached to it and it forms an important part of my life. It is my grandmother who beautified this place. She has put immense efforts in growing the garden and maintaining it.

Benefits of Gardening:

  • The Gazebo in My Garden

Since we live on the outskirts of the city, we have the luxury of having a big house and quite a big garden. Besides the beautiful trees and flowers that form a part of my garden, there is a beautiful gazebo set up here that adds to its beauty. The gazebo is set in one corner of the garden and it is my favourite spot. My father chose its design and it is appreciated by all.

We host a lot of parties at home and the gazebo is a hot favourite spot of the guests. During the times, when the weather is pleasant, my parents usually plan barbeque in the garden and everyone just loves sitting in the Gazebo with their plate of snacks.

I also love spending some time during the evening hours at this quite place in my garden. Many a times, I also study here. I find it easier to concentrate here compared to other parts of my house.

  • Organic Vegetables and Fruits in My Garden

Besides beautiful rows of leafy plants and multi-hued flowers, my grandmother has also planted many vegetables in our garden. Spinach, tomatoes, potatoes, green chillies, carrots and eggplants are among some of the vegetables that grow in my garden. Herbs such as coriander, mint and curry plant have also been planted. All these vegetables grow in abundance in my garden and we often cut and cook them for our meals.

Apart from these, my garden also has quite a few fruit trees. Lemon tree, mango tree, banana tree and papaya tree have always been a part of it. They bear fruits and fill the air with their refreshing smell. Many a times, I have been made to climb the mango tree to pluck the mangoes. It is super fun and I always look forward to it.

Maintaining Garden is not Easy – a tough task

Though having a garden adds to the beauty of the house, it is quite a task to maintain it. Many people love the idea of growing plants and try their hands at it but give up in some time. This is because plants require utmost care. It is essential for you to take care of them on a daily basis in order to keep them fresh and green and help them grow.

Plants do not only require water but also need different types of manures to grow. Hats off to my grandmother who is so dedicated towards taking care of our garden even at this age. She makes sure the plants are watered twice a day and all the required manures are added from time to time. She also ensures that weeds and unwanted plants that hamper the growth of the other plants are removed timely.

We have hired a professional gardener who comes to our place thrice a week and takes care of our garden. My grandmother supervises him and gets the tasks done properly.

Some of the best memories of my childhood are attached to my garden. I love it when my entire family sits together in the garden to have their evening tea. I also love the winter afternoons when we have our lunch in the garden. It is simply amazing. Having a garden at home is blissful.

Long and Short Essay on My Garden in English

My garden essay 1 (200 words).

My Garden is my favourite part of my house. I can spend hours in my garden without getting bored. It makes me come alive and I just love that feeling.

I am thankful to my mother for giving me such a beautiful place to sit and rejoice nature.

My Garden Essay 2 (300 words)

Introduction

My garden is full of aromatic herbs. My grandfather loves gardening and I love helping him with this activity. We have grown numerous types of plants in our garden. Most of these are herbs such as aloe vera, basil, mint, coriander, curry plant and lemon grass. This helps in two ways. It adds to the beauty of the house and also provides natural herbs that offer so many health benefits.

My Morning Begins Here

My morning begins in my garden. As I wake up, the first thing I do is to head straight to my garden. It is the best way to begin my day. I just love the essence of this place. My grandfather is already seated on the small bench we have placed there. I go and sit right next to him. I practice deep breathing for around 15 minutes and then have a look at the various plants around the garden. The sight is extremely refreshing. I begin with my daily tasks only after spending around half an hour in my garden.

The Best Way to Spend My Evening

I often go out with my friends in the evening after my tuition classes. It gives me respite after a long day at school and coaching institute. We go to the nearby market to have some evening snacks and chit chat for a while before heading home. While I do look forward to this time every day, I love spending the evening hours in my garden all the more. Many a times, I call my friends to my place. We sit in the garden while my mother serves hot soup and snacks. For me, it is simply the best way to spend the evening hours.

My garden is an integral part of my life. This place can uplift my mood in fraction of seconds. I help my grandfather take care of my garden.

My Garden Essay 3 (400 words)

I just love nature. Hills, valleys, sunsets, sea, plants, trees and flowers – I love everything that is natural and organic. Every time we visit a hill station, I feel like staying there forever.

The School Garden is one of the most popular hangout spots for kids. The pupils are always drawn to the school garden because of its lush foliage and tranquillity.

Nature never ceases to amaze us with her splendor. We may discover everything in gardens, from beautiful flowers and plants to colourful birds and butterflies. The importance of nature and the environment is taught to children through school gardens. Kids can participate in a variety of activities, including planting a tree in their school gardens.

My School Garden Essay

My school has a very large garden. It’s not a very big garden, but it’s one of the most special gardens I have ever seen. My school backyard is placed in front of that most important school building.

I have seen many employees and gardeners work on taking care of the garden throughout the time we have classes. They plant a variety of fruits and trees. They water them and take care of the flowers.

The garden has a big range of fruits and flowers. Thick thorny shrubs border the garden. My school backyard has flowers such as sunflowers, tulips, marigolds, daisies, roses, jasmine, etc. It also has large bushes such as neem, litchi, and a mango tree.

We are only allowed to go to the garden for the duration of our recess, and once our environmental science teacher took us there to become aware of various plants. The garden not only makes our school lovely but additionally adds some much-needed greenery. I love spending time in my school garden.

Gardening is an addicting passion for many individuals. For some, keeping their garden neat and tidy is a harsh disciplinary measure. The importance of a house's garden or surrounding grass cannot be overstated. It not only enhances the visual appeal of the area but also allows residents to live a little closer to nature. People who enjoy plants and flowers are more likely to maintain gardens; they are also more likely to be engaged in gardening and approach it as a pastime.

Gardening is a highly skilled activity that also requires the practitioner to be patient and hardworking. This is due to the fact that gardening necessitates the utmost commitment and care. For the owner, a garden is a very special location. Having one's own garden implies being able to stroll through it whenever one desires. People with gardens can cultivate their own fruits and vegetables, as well as organic and ayurvedic plants. Many individuals even use hybrid planting to get flowers and seeds with a hybrid quality.

Flowers in the garden not only make it seem beautiful and vibrant, but they also add a natural scent to the living spaces. Flowers are an important aspect of the garden and contribute to its beauty. Having a garden around the house is desirable for a variety of reasons. However, in order to get the benefits of a beautiful garden, it must be well cared for and maintained. It is for this reason that gardening is so important.

Gardening entails the cultivation of plants and flowers, as well as their maintenance and proper care. It's a delicate business, and those who haven't done it before may find it challenging at first. It is a difficult task. Plants require patience to grow. Planting seeds in the ground and watering them on a regular basis would be insufficient. Other parameters, like as soil fertility, ambient temperature, manure, and so on, must be considered.

They also require enough light for photosynthesis and nutrition. People who have a genuine passion for growing plants might take on the task of gardening on their own. Those who want a garden but aren't keen on the gardening aspect can hire a professional gardener to take care of it for them.

Gardening is a broad term that encompasses a wide range of activities. Gardening, in its broadest sense, is the act of cultivating plants in a garden. Yards are found in many houses, flats, buildings, and businesses; they come in varying sizes and rely on the amount of space available. Many individuals also enjoy cultivating a kitchen garden, which is a garden that only grows vegetables, edible plants, flowers, and herbs. Gardening is a task that should be approached with caution. The importance of accuracy cannot be overstated. A single blunder here or there can lead to the plant's complete destruction. As a result, it should be completed with sufficient time and care.

Gardeners' primary responsibilities include watering plants on a daily basis, ensuring their nutrition, adding manure and fertilizers to the soil, and planting new seeds. Plants can also be grown from saplings purchased from a nursery. Bonsais can also be improved if you are interested.

As a result, gardening is a fun activity. It does necessitate complete dedication, but the wait is well worth it. Gardening aids in the development of supple hands capable of attending to the tiniest of details. It cultivates patience and faithfulness in the gardener. Gardening also instills in the gardener a renewed enthusiasm for flora. It's an investment position that necessitates the presence of a capable and responsible individual.

Every year on World Forest Day, we also plant a tree sapling in our school garden.

We also water the plants every now and again.

In our garden, we have a variety of flower and fruit plants.

The perfume of jasmine and tulips grown in our garden always refreshes and scents our school campus.

There are also various trees such as peepal, mango, and lichi.

During recess, many youngsters go to the garden to play.

Our garden is something we are really proud of.

2. How is fruit and flowers described in the Essay?

In the essay, it says, the school's garden is densely forested with trees and vines. Plants include fruits, flowers, and vegetables. In the midst of the garden, there is a well. The garden is organized into four sections, with one section devoted solely to flowering plants.

Marigold, jasmine, champak, and rose plants are among them. Fruit plants can be found in the second section. Apple, guava, papaya, banana, and coconut plants are among them.

Vegetable plants such as potato, brinjal, tomato, bottle gourd, pumpkin, bitter gourd, snake-gourd, bean, and arum grow in the third section, while spinach and other vegetables grow in the fourth. We cultivate cabbage and cauliflower in the winter. Onions and garlic are also grown on the farm.

3. What is the summary of Essay My School Garden in 150-200 words?

A school garden should be present in every school. At our school, we have a lovely garden. It was created by students and instructors working collaboratively. We began working on the project last year. We learned about this from our agricultural teacher, and it piqued our interest. Inside the school, there were plenty of unoccupied areas. We approached the headmaster about it, and he was extremely pleased.

We chose a spot with a length of 25 feet and a width of 20 feet. For a small garden, that was not a small space. We provided water for three days there. We followed our agriculture teacher's advice. To work in the garden, we formed a group. We went to the local nursery to get plants once the land was ready.

We chose to plant the garden's only flowers. We went out and bought a lot of plants, which we then planted in the garden. We put in a lot of effort to provide water and keep the garden clean. It is now a very lovely garden.

4. What is a garden for class 3?

A garden is a well-kept patch of land adjacent to a home. It is designated for the growth of new plants, shrubs, herbs, flowers, fruits, and trees, among other things. A garden can be made up of both natural and man-made items. Artificial grass, for example, can be found in some gardens. Natural and man-made materials are used in the garden.

Why Gardening Is So Good for You

Digging holes can be a workout and mood booster all rolled into one.

A hand holds a container with two small plants. Pink flowers fill the background.

By Dana G. Smith

Dana Smith reported this story from Plant Hardiness Zone 8a.

Last Saturday, I was covered in dirt, my back ached, the scream of a trillion cicadas rang in my ears, and, despite my best efforts, a sunburn was developing on the back of my neck.

I was in heaven.

Over the course of the day, I planted my summer haul of annuals (a riot of reds, purples and yellows), transplanted some fall-blooming mums and pulled a Montauk daisy that had grown too big for the space. A neighbor took the daisy off my hands, and in return gifted me some iris and lamb’s ear that he needed to thin out of his yard.

For me, gardening is a workout, meditation and opportunity to socialize with my neighbors all rolled into one. And while I’m admittedly biased, research backs up some of my observations that gardening can have real benefits for your mind and body .

Gardening gets you moving.

Shoveling mulch, pulling weeds and lugging around a watering can all qualify as moderate-intensity physical activities . And gardeners tend to report higher levels of physical activity overall, compared with non-gardeners.

In one recent study conducted in Colorado, for example, people who joined a community garden logged nearly six extra minutes a day of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity compared with people who were on the waiting list for a plot. That may not sound like a lot, but it added up to about 42 extra minutes per week, said Jill Litt, a professor of environmental health at the University of Colorado at Boulder, who ran the trial.

“That’s almost 30 percent of the way to meeting the federal recommendations” of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week, Dr. Litt said. “People talk about it as a way to meet these goals and be more active but not having to get on a treadmill.”

There is also some evidence that gardeners, possibly because of this increased activity, have better cardio-metabolic health. One study of older adults found that, compared with those who don’t exercise, people who gardened as one of their main physical activities had lower rates of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Some of the more vigorous gardening activities, like digging, raking and hauling bags of potting soil, can also serve as a strength workout, challenging muscles in the arms, legs and core.

Not every study shows physical health benefits from gardening, though, especially when the activities are lower intensity or done for just 10 or 15 minutes at a time. It’s also possible that people who choose gardening as a hobby are healthier and more active than non-gardeners even before they dig in.

Gardening does wonders for your mental well-being.

Some studies report that working in a garden lowers people’s scores on anxiety and depression measures; other research has found increased confidence and self-esteem among gardeners. In one small study , spending 30 minutes gardening lowered levels of the stress hormone cortisol .

Experts think there are a few possible ways gardening improves mental health. First, physical activity itself is a well-established way to boost mood.

Many people also report feeling a sense of meaning and purpose when they garden, which is an important contributor to well-being .

“Working with plants, people kind of see where they fit in the world,” said Emilee Weaver, the program manager of therapeutic horticulture at the North Carolina Botanical Garden. “They see why they’re valuable because of the cause-and-effect relationship that plants so visibly articulate.”

In addition, gardening, especially in community or allotment gardens, can help people build social connections and combat loneliness . In the Colorado study, participants talked about the relationships they developed and said they felt more bonded to their community through gardening.

“They’re fostering social connection. They’re getting more involved,” Dr. Litt said. “They talk about sense of belonging. They talk about shared learning. All of these processes are really important for mental health.”

If you garden at home, putting a bed in the front yard instead of the back could similarly spur conversation and bring together neighbors, she added.

It’s possible that the act of getting your hands dirty could have a positive effect on your mood, as well. There is some research to suggest that bacteria in soil can alter the microbiome in a way that reduces stress and inflammation.

If playing in the dirt isn’t your thing, just being outdoors in a natural environment can provide stress relief and help people recover from mental fatigue, said Carly Wood, a senior lecturer in sport and exercise science at the University of Essex in England, who researches the mental health benefits of nature-based interventions, including gardening .

That may be because being in nature activates the mind and senses in a way that takes your attention off other things. “Natural environments are fascinating,” Dr. Wood said. “All their features inherently engage us and kind of distract us, in a way, from our stressors.”

And you don’t need to spend all day outdoors to reap the benefits, she said. “Five minutes is enough to improve your self-esteem and your mood.”
