Position Summary

Join SCAD Atlanta as a full-time Professor of Dramatic Writing. In this role, you will teach courses in collaborative TV writers’ rooms, screenwriting and your own area of expertise. You will undertake responsibilities supporting cross-departmental creative initiatives in TV and film productions as well as live and digital immersive experiences. The ideal candidate has exceptional industry experience, possesses a student-centered teaching philosophy and is committed to the goals of a diverse and inclusive academic department. As an energetic leader, he or she exhibits excellent communication skills, supports an ensemble-based approach and is able to dive into multiple projects at a time. One of the fastest growing cities in the U.S., Atlanta provides professionals an ideal environment in which to live, work, and play. Located in the heart of Midtown, SCAD Atlanta is home to a vibrant cultural landscape that includes theaters, museums, fine art galleries, bustling shops, and countless green spaces, including Piedmont Park and Atlanta’s famed BeltLine. Duties and responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications: • Terminal degree or its equivalent • Expertise in TV writers’ rooms and/or collaborative working environments

Preferred Qualifications:

Certificates, licenses and registrations: - Credentials sufficient to command the respect of the department members, which normally includes a terminal degree in that field (Ph.D. or Master’s degree (MFA preferred) in relevant field.) - Demonstrated effectiveness as an academic leader, normally through service on academic groups or through special assignments. - A successful career as a faculty member, including a reputation for high academic standards and innovation in curriculum and pedagogy. - Experience with curriculum development and the utilization of assessment to improve student learning and academic programs. - Ability to conduct thorough, thoughtful, and fair faculty evaluations, including class observations, productive individual evaluation meetings, and clearly stated written evaluations that reinforce the faculty member’s strength and outlines areas of needed improvement with suggested strategies and support for that improvement. - The knowledge to define the needs of the department on new faculty hires and the personnel judgment to make appropriate recommendations to the Dean for hiring and reappointment. - The judgment to make good and fair decisions in the student’s best academic interests with regard to various waivers and expectations and the ability to capture those decisions in an annual accountability report. - Willingness to collaborate with admissions on the recruitment and review of students, with career planning and placement on placing students and on building links to careers related to the discipline, and with other academic and non-academic departments in the best interests of students and the college. - Attention to detail and to deadlines in such matters as course scheduling, classroom scheduling, budgetary development and oversight, and preparation of required reports. - Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. - Innovative, energetic, and of the highest personal and professional integrity.

WGS 84 coordinate reference system is the latest revision of the World Geodetic System, which is used in mapping and navigation, including GPS satellite navigation system (the Global Positioning System).

Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) define a position on the Earth’s surface. Coordinates are angular units. The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.

Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. Positive latitude values correspond to the geographic locations north of the Equator (abbrev. N). Negative latitude values correspond to the geographic locations south of the Equator (abbrev. S).

Longitude is counted from the prime meridian ( IERS Reference Meridian for WGS 84) and varies from −180° to 180°. Positive longitude values correspond to the geographic locations east of the prime meridian (abbrev. E). Negative longitude values correspond to the geographic locations west of the prime meridian (abbrev. W).

UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.

Elevation above sea level is a measure of a geographic location’s height. We are using the global digital elevation model GTOPO30 .
