Theft and Workplace Problems: The Accidental Bank Robbery Case Study

Chris was placed to work as a relief manager in a small suburban branch of the company. The task was challenging as he had to work with inexperienced employees and knew little about local customers and daily office routines. The accidental bank robbery took place when one of the bank tellers named Carol had an unresolved $900 shortage from her drive-in window. As a probationary employee, Carol would be fired unless the money was restored (Plath, 1991). Chris faced the dilemma of either reporting the shortage to the personnel department or finding a way to balance Carol’s window without notifying the bank’s authorities.

The core values that might be used to resolve the dilemma are honesty, reliability, and trustworthiness. The utilitarian perspective can be applied to the dilemma as it might offer ways to achieve the best possible outcome. Utilitarianism is “a theory of normative ethics that ethically evaluates actions by their consequences and their impact on overall happiness of all affected by an action” (Becker, 2019, p. 19). Additionally, the concept of virtue ethics based on favorable character traits might be used to resolve the dilemma and prevent Carol from being dismissed.

The complicating factors in the scenario are the probationary status and inexperience of Carol, the steadfast position of the customer about the money he received, and the reliance of Chris on the knowledge and experience of the local branch personnel. There might be two distinct alternate solutions to the problem. One the one hand, using the utilitarian approach, Chris might report the shortage to the bank’s personnel department, which would possibly result in Carol’s termination of employment. He would also recommend the bank to check the surveillance cameras and databases to prevent criminal prosecution against Carol. On the other hand, Chris might try to help Carol to preserve her position by applying the concept of virtue ethics. He would submit a report that confirms her status of a probationary employee and indicates the need for a short training course on her expense as a disciplinary alternative to her dismissal.

There is a specific relationship between the dilemma and societal issues, such as theft and workplace problems. Even though the money was not stolen by a thief, it went missing because of the incompetence of the bank teller. Thus, the social issue of theft can be applied to the situation as it might lead to the same result of missing money, as in the case of accidental bank robbery. Workplace problems, such as the lack of proper training for employees, might have also contributed to the given scenario and caused the loss of $900. The resolution involving a disciplinary measure for Carol include valuable managerial implications, such as the importance of employee training for money-loss prevention and the plan for the effective local management. The adverse outcomes of the proposed resolution would be the financial and temporal expenses for the bank, which in the long run, however, might contribute to the efficiency and profitability of the business.

These are some basic questions that bother students a lot. Well, in this article, you will get to know about everything you need to know when writing a report on bank robbery.

While reporting about a bank robbery, the first and foremost thing to keep in mind is to report when and where the bank robbery took place. Knowing how the bank robbery took place can help decide the course of action after the robbery. The report on bank robbery should also include the amount of money/things looted from the bank and also the number of people who were injured during the event. You can also talk about whether the police were able to get hold of the robbers or not.

Let us now look at the following reports on bank robbery to get a clear idea about how to write one.

Report on Bank Robbery in Orissa

On the 3rd of March, a daring bank robbery took place in a nationalized bank in Bhubaneshwar. Bank authorities complained that ten lakh rupees and important valuable assets were stolen from the lockers. It was reported that four men arrived at the bank around 12:00 p.m. pretending to be customers and went to the Manager’s chambers to talk to him about some issues and, within a few minutes, held all the people in the bank hostage. The bank’s security guards were injured in an attempt to stop the robbers. The robbers had threatened the cashier, keeping her at gunpoint, to empty the cash box and hand them the entire cash. They also wanted the keys to the locker room from the Manager, and upon refusing, the robbers injured him and tore down the office to look for the locker room keys and, in the process, destroyed many valuable documents. The robbers succeeded in finding the locker keys and cleared the lockers within a few minutes, and ran out of the bank.

The police were informed, and when they arrived, the robbers had already left. The injured guards were taken to the nearest hospital and provided treatment. The police officials took statements from the witnesses and the bank’s manager. The CCTV footage of the bank and the nearby areas were collected for investigation. The police questioned the nearby shops to help them make sketches of the robbers. However, no arrests were made regarding the matter.

Report on Bank Robbery in West Bengal

On 2nd February 2021, a bank robbery took place in West Bengal’s Tajpur SBI branch. Three men armed with guns entered the bank and injured the security guards. More than 6 lakh rupees was plundered, and important documents were destroyed. According to local people, they had seen a Maruti 800 van parked outside the bank around 10:30 in the morning. The two robbers put the cashier at gunpoint and demanded money, according to the witnesses. When the cashier resisted, the robbers injured him badly, broke the cash box, and looted the money. The robbers then rummaged through the entire bank to get the keys to the lockers. After finding the keys, the robbers ransacked several lockers and took away many valuable assets.

Locals also reported hearing multiple gunshots being fired from the bank. When the police arrived, they found no one shot; instead, they found the security guards and the cashier injured. Both were taken to the nearest hospital and provided with the necessary treatment. The police collected statements from the customers who were present in the bank during the robbing incident. CCTV footage of the bank and the nearby areas were collected for investigation by the police. The police questioned the nearby shopkeepers to help them make a sketch of the robbers. However, no arrests have been made regarding the matter at the moment.

Set 1: Essay On a Bank Robbery

On Friday, a daring bank robbery took place in the Karim Ganj branch of the Punjab National Bank. It was a well planned operation. At the closing hours of the bank, five persons entered the bank with pistols in their hands. Their faces were covered with masks. The bank watchman was shot at and wounded.

One robber stood at the entrance and four entered the building of the bank. They fired shots in the air to frighten the staff. The robbers pushed the Manager and the staff at gun point, into the strong room and locked them there. Four robbers went behind the cash counter and packed the currency notes in their bags.

It was a quick, planned operation. It was all over within a few minutes. After having stuffed all the booty in the cases, the bandits rushed out of the bank building. They got into the waiting car and fled away. The Manager somehow managed to ring the alarm bell. The police van arrived soon but it was too late by then. The culprits had gone miles away by this time. There was no clue for the police. Next day, the car used by the robbers was found near a deserted place in Shakeelpur. It was reported to be a stolen car. Investigations are going on.

Report Writing: Bank Robbery

Writing a report on a bank robbery involves careful compilation of facts, detailed analysis, and clear communication to convey the sequence of events and implications accurately. This type of report is crucial for law enforcement, security analysis, and media purposes. Here’s how to construct an effective and informative report on a bank robbery.

Table of Contents

Introduction and Incident Description

Start your report by providing basic details about the bank robbery, including the date, time, and location, along with the specific branch affected. Outline the sequence of events, describing how the robbers entered the bank, their interaction with staff and customers, and the methods they employed. Include detailed descriptions of the perpetrators from surveillance and eyewitness accounts, and note the immediate response of the bank’s staff and customers during the event.

Impact Assessment

Detail the consequences of the robbery, including any injuries, casualties, and the psychological impact on those present. Provide an estimation of financial losses and any property damages. Explain the immediate actions taken by law enforcement upon notification of the robbery, including their arrival time and initial measures. Also, offer an update on the ongoing investigation, mentioning any leads, arrests, or collaborations with other agencies.

Analysis and Recommendations

Analyze the effectiveness of the security measures in place at the time of the robbery and identify any security lapses that the robbers exploited. Evaluate the response from both bank security and law enforcement. Based on this analysis, recommend improvements such as enhanced security infrastructure, better emergency response training for staff, and advanced surveillance technology. Conclude by emphasizing the importance of these measures in preventing future incidents and maintaining the safety and security of banking institutions.

Bank Robbery Report Example #1

On a sunny afternoon, a bank robbery took place in the heart of the city. It was a shocking incident that left many people in the area frightened and shaken. In this report, I will describe the robbers, the bank, and the robbery itself.

The robbers were three men, all of them in their mid-20s. The first one was about 6 feet tall and had a muscular build. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and a black mask. The second one was shorter, about 5’8″ and had a slim build. He was wearing a green jacket, blue jeans, and a black mask. The third one was about 5’10” and had a medium build. He was wearing a brown jacket, brown pants, and a black mask. All three of them were carrying guns, and their facial features were not visible due to the masks.

The bank was a large, modern building, with several floors and a spacious lobby. There were about 15 customers and 5 employees present during the robbery. The bank had several security measures, including CCTV cameras, alarms, and security personnel. However, the robbers managed to bypass them and enter the bank easily. They quickly took control of the situation, and the customers and employees were forced to lie on the floor while the robbers emptied the cash registers and vaults.

The robbery lasted for about 10 minutes, and fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities. The robbers managed to escape with a large amount of money, estimated to be around $200,000. The police arrived at the scene shortly after the robbers left, and they are currently investigating the incident. The bank has offered a reward for any information leading to the arrest of the robbers.

In conclusion, the bank robbery was a terrifying incident that highlights the need for increased security measures in public places. The robbers managed to get away with a significant amount of money, and it is imperative that they are brought to justice. The police are doing everything in their power to apprehend the robbers, and with the public’s help, they hope to solve the case soon.

Bank Robbery Report Example #2

On a sunny afternoon last week, the city of Los Angeles was shaken by a bank robbery that took place in the heart of downtown. The incident has left many residents feeling uneasy, as it serves as a reminder that no place is entirely safe from crime. In this essay, I will provide a detailed report of the events that occurred during the bank robbery, including the bank’s layout and security measures, the robbers’ actions and weapons used, and the police response and investigation of the crime scene.

The bank in question was a large, modern building with multiple floors and a spacious lobby. The entrance was guarded by a security officer who was armed with a handgun and trained to respond to emergencies. Inside the bank, there were several teller stations and a row of private offices where customers could meet with bank employees. The bank also had a sophisticated security system that included cameras, alarms, and motion sensors.

According to eyewitnesses, the robbers were three men who entered the bank wearing masks and carrying firearms. They immediately ordered everyone to get on the ground and demanded that the tellers empty their cash drawers. The robbers were armed with semi-automatic weapons and appeared to be experienced criminals. They moved quickly and efficiently, keeping their faces covered and communicating with each other in low voices.

The police response was swift and decisive. Within minutes of receiving the call, officers arrived at the scene and established a perimeter around the bank. They evacuated nearby buildings and began negotiating with the robbers, who had taken several hostages. After a tense standoff that lasted several hours, the police were able to apprehend the robbers and free the hostages. The investigation of the crime scene revealed that the robbers had used a stolen vehicle and had left several pieces of evidence behind.

Overall, the bank robbery was a frightening and traumatic event for everyone involved. It serves as a reminder that even the most secure locations can be vulnerable to criminal activity. However, the response of the police and the cooperation of the community were crucial in bringing the situation to a peaceful resolution. The investigation of the crime scene is ongoing, and we can only hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.

Bank Robbery Report Example #3

On a quiet afternoon, a bank robbery took place in our town that shocked the entire community. The incident left everyone in shock and fear. In this essay, I will describe the details of this bank robbery, including the appearance and behavior of the robbers, the layout and security measures of the bank, and the account of the robbery itself and the aftermath.

The robbers were two men who appeared to be in their mid-twenties. They were both tall and muscular, wearing dark clothing and ski masks that covered their faces. They entered the bank calmly and confidently, brandishing guns and demanding that the tellers empty their cash drawers. They spoke in low, menacing voices, and their behavior was extremely threatening. They seemed to be well-prepared for the robbery, as they quickly and efficiently collected the money and left the bank without causing any harm to the employees or customers.

The bank was a large, modern building with a spacious lobby and several teller windows. There were security cameras positioned throughout the lobby and a security guard stationed at the front entrance. However, the robbers managed to bypass these security measures by entering through a back door that was left unlocked. This raised questions about the bank’s security protocols and how they could be improved to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The robbery itself lasted only a few minutes, but the aftermath was chaotic. The police were called immediately, and they arrived on the scene within minutes. The bank was surrounded by law enforcement officers, and a search for the robbers began. The bank employees and customers were all shaken by the incident, and many of them required counseling to deal with the trauma. The investigation led to the arrest of the two robbers, who were later convicted and sentenced to long prison terms.

In conclusion, the bank robbery was a frightening experience for everyone involved. It highlighted the importance of security measures in public places such as banks and raised questions about how they can be improved. The incident also demonstrated the bravery and professionalism of law enforcement officers who worked tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice. Overall, the robbery was a reminder of the need for constant vigilance and preparedness in today’s world.

In this case, Chris is a relief manager, meaning he is working at a branch he is not used to. This forces him to make decisions on a variety of issues despite a lack of background knowledge on that particular branch. Usually, he leans on experienced employees for help, but he is working at a branch with a relatively inexperienced staff. This puts him into an unfavorable position. The specific case involves a new teller, Carole, who was nine hundred dollars short when she tried to reconcile her window. Chris was able to find the specific error, in which she marked a one hundred dollar check for one thousand. The customer in this transaction is a highly valued customer and when asked about it, he claimed he only received one hundred dollars. Even when the severity of the issue was explained, he did not change his story. With no way to recover the nine hundred dollars, company policy says Chris needs to report this and that will lead to Carole’s termination.

For Chris, the ethical issue is that he does not want to be responsible for Carole getting fired, but company policy dictates that he follow a course of action that will result in this for her. He must consider the possibility that Carole has lied in an attempt to embezzle the nine hundred dollars. He may feel that her story is true, meaning that the customer has the extra nine hundred, but he has no way to prove that. He cannot check to see how much the customer has taken and does not want to upset the valued customer by repeatedly questioning his honesty. If he believes the customer, Carole will be fired, but it is possible that the customer’s dishonesty is the real issue. Ultimately, Chris needs to decide who he trusts more, Carole or the customer. This is difficult since he has limited experience dealing with both.

The primary stakeholders are obviously Carole and Chris, as both of their jobs are dependent on the decision he makes. However, other stakeholders include practically all of the employees of Commerce Trust Bank. The other bank tellers and managers are forced to adhere to policies that may be violated in this case. In the same way, it affects higher level employees who set the policies in question. Finally, since the bank’s money ultimately comes from their depositors, they have a stake in what happens in regards to missing money.

Chris thought of two ways of dealing with the situation. He could debit the customer’s account by nine hundred dollars. He could also put the money in a temporary suspense account and let the problem be dealt with later. One option he did not consider is reporting it as the company policy states even if this will result in Carole being fired. Another would be to try and contact the customer again to attempt to locate the money. However, the risk here is irritating a loyal customer. Finally, he could audit the rest of her window ledger. It is possible that she gave out the correct amount on this transaction, but made several other mistakes throughout the night that totaled nine hundred dollars.

The first option is unacceptable. Chris cannot debit the customer’s account after the customer denied receiving the extra money. This would almost surely result in the loss of the customer, which is a negative for all stakeholders, especially if the customer is a large depositor. Considering that Chris already asked the customer about the money multiple times, inquiring again is unlikely to do anything but further annoy him, making this option unattractive. Dealing with the problem by placing it in a temporary suspended account is an attractive option, made more so Chris’s inexperience at this branch. Perhaps when the normal manager resumes his duties, that manager will be able to deal with it more effectively based on his experience surplus over Chris. However, doing this would breach the company policy, negatively affecting those who set it, the employees who follow it, and ultimately the bank depositors.

My recommended course of action would be for Chris to finish checking Carole’s ledger looking for other errors. As she is a new employee, it is possible that she made many errors and the money can still be located. However, if it cannot Chris should report the shortage. This is what policy dictates should be done, well serving all of the employees of the branch. Also, by dealing with it in this manner, Chris can deter other tellers from trying to embezzle money through a similar method, serving the depositors.

The unfortunate part of this action is that it hurts Carole, who may simply be the victim of a dishonest customer. However, Chris cannot eliminate the possibility that Carole tried to take advantage of a manager unfamiliar with the branch and took the money. Pending a further review of the ledger, it seems that Chris can probably trace this money to one of those two. While either decision would be difficult, a longtime customer can likely be trusted more than a new employee.

Some might say that this course of action is unfair to Carole. However, assuming a proper further audit does not reveal another possible source of the discrepancy, Chris has certainly been fair to her. Her window came up significantly short, he went through her transaction history, found one possible source of discrepancy, and looked into it. When this line of inquiry did not reveal the source of the discrepancy, there was nothing more for Chris to do for her sake. Believing her side of the affair after all of the investigation did not support it would be going beyond a required level of fairness to her. While firing an employee when there is a possibility that she does not deserve it would not be optimal, ultimately some action has to be taken. Punishing the employees or depositors who were not involved is not a good idea, meaning it must be her or the customer. Again, Carole has less of a history with the company, and therefore it is more likely that she is at fault here.

Essay on A Bank Robbery

December 15, 2017 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

When someone illegally takes someone else’s things in possession, then it can be clearly stated as robbery. In India, robbery has become a social issue now. Robbery cases are proliferating day-by-day.

It was a cold December night. Sitting relentlessly on a wooden bench, Me and my father decided to take a troll in park near our house. As we were walking, an erupt noise roared.

Suddenly we saw a man running out of a bank building, who was covering his face, carrying bags full of money. For a moment we both got muddled and started thinking whether or not we should do something .

We then gathered all our courage and stepped towards the thief. Meanwhile, that thief was bringing out more bags from the bank and putting them into his car.

As we reached there, my father tried to grip the thief with his neck. The moment my father gripped his neck, the thief put his pistol on my dad’s head.

Thief said to me – “Go away girl or you will also be killed”.

I was really afraid that time. But I gave a hard kick on thief’s leg. Hurt by the sudden impact, the thief dropped his gun clutching his stomach. Seizing the opportunity, I took the gun and my father again gripped the thief. He was struggling in dad’s arms and trying to escape from there.

bank robbery

The police went on investigating the burglary inside the bank building. Sooner they discovered that the thief and his friend entered the bank through a tunnel, which they started constructing 2 months back. They both were conspiring to rob the bank. Nobody knew about their secret planning to rob the bank.

Bank officials were also unaware of this secret tunnel that was being constructed. Security guards fell asleep during this incident, that’s why the thief was able to steal money from the bank. Police officials took charge of the money and it was submitted to the bank officials. Police arrested the thieves and also took the security guards in custody.

Thief  was Guilty Of his Sin

One of the thief pleaded apology and said it was his helplessness which let him to take this extreme step. He further added that he was unable to fulfill his children demand of taking them to restaurant and also needed money to pay his children school fees.

Police officials made him realize that he has committed a big sin in order to make his children happy. He should have sought government help for solving the issue of school fees. Now he would spend his time behind the bars.

Appreciation

The police officials also awarded me and my father a cash prize of 1000RS for fulfilling the duty of a responsible citizen and asked us to remain cautious.

Instructions

They are ready for help anytime. All we need is to stay conscious to avail services whenever in need. Police officials asked people to put CCTV cameras in their houses, to appoint a security guard for each locality, to stay alert in case they hear any erupt noise, or see any suspected person or objects immediately inform the police.

After this incident, all the local people decided to stay a bit alert for everything which is happening around them. This was really an unforgettable incident for us. I continued to remain scared for many days after this terrible incident.

Management Team’s Lapses

This incident is a clear evidence of the loopholes in our managing system, be it banks, government organizations, government departments.

If the security guards were active, this burglary would have been stopped. If the bank management team was active, they would have known about the tunnel.

Robbery – A Social Issue

Though economy is advancing, though people are becoming global, though our domestic economy is flourishing in international economy, but social issues like poverty, robbery, unemployment are on the rise. All these social issues go hand in hand. Poverty results in Illiteracy, Illiteracy results in Unemployment, Unemployment results in Robbery.

Former president DR.A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM rightly said- “A person is not morally wrong by birth. Situations or circumstances make him bad or good”.

From this we can conclude that most cases of burglary are being done by the people who are helpless, who are deprived of basic standards of living, who are unable to afford their child’s education, who are unable to get even one time food, who are deprived of shelter, clothes etc. So was with this thief also.

These people either choose the path of begging or burglary.

All this is due to lack of proper government schemes .Even if there are schemes, they are not successfully implemented.

Mediators take the benefit of these schemes leaving the poor people deprived of these government schemes. Food and other things never get equally distributed to the poor masses. Only some are benefited. Rest are affected by the corruption in this process.

Essay on “A Bank Robbery” for School, College Students, Long and Short English Essay, Speech for Class 10, Class 12, College and Competitive Exams.

A Bank Robbery

Robberies have become the order of the day. There are so many, such as train robbery, bus robbery or a robbery in a bank. Robbers have become dare-devils. They do not care for life, neither their own nor others. Their sole job is to rob and loot and run away. Sometimes they are caught but usually they escape Scot free. Law cannot do anything, it remains a mute, helpless spectator.

The other day I went to Union Bank of India in Karol Bagh. The bank was busy in usual transactions. There was heavy rush of people. All of a sudden robbers entered from the main gate with covered faces. They had pistols and guns in their hands. They shouted and thundered to the fear of one and all. They ordered everyone to lay on floor with raised hands. In a twinkling of an eye they, took position. Two of them, with guns held the main gate. The other three after pushing customers aside went behind the cash counters and the strong room. One of them held the manager by neck. They did this all at the point of pistols and guns. Now, life is dear to everyone. The fear of life makes everyone coward and timid. Nobody could show any resistance. So we kept calm. Before our eyes one or two of them filled bags with currency notes. They gathered plenty of money. We were all helpless and watched this all broad-daylight looting spree as mute spectators.

After threatening the bank staff they left quite comfortably without shooting even a single shot. A waiting car took them away alongwith the booty. Someone informed police from a nearby telephone as all lines inside the bank had been snapped beforehand. Police came in a while and started their tough investigations. They sent parties to apprehend the robbers but all in vain. Only an hour later the used car was found abandoned at a deserted place.

Good Essay About Bank Robbery In A Small Town

ORDER PAPER LIKE THIS

The Verdict

As a juror on this case, there is an abundance of information, testimony and evidence to take into account. I would like to begin this case analysis by first stating my verdict and then describing why. Based on the Prosecution’s testimony, I find the Defendant/suspect of the bank robbery of Small Town Bank guilty beyond reasonable doubt. My decision was formed based on the circumstances of the crime and pursuit, forensic findings, and what evidence was found useful when reaching the guilty verdict.

Circumstances of the Crime

I do believe that the suspect is the bank robber due to numerous and varying circumstances. To begin, the suspect travelled in the same direction (South) as witnesses reported when seeing him flee the bank. In addition, the suspect was also found in the same location (South) as witnesses reported him fleeing. As a juror, one of the main things I found to be puzzling in this case was the presence of the individual apprehended by Deputy Engle close to Home 1. Moreover, the fact that this individual is a relative to the suspect is ironic, yet somewhat bothersome. However, coincidences do happen, so this fact had no overall bearing on my final decision. Aside from being found in that location, there was also evidence suggesting that the suspect had abandoned the silver vehicle used to flee the scene of the crime at Small Town Bank. Since an attempt to determine who had stolen the vehicle is a separate crime, the fact that a car matching the same description as the getaway vehicle is further damaging evidence for the suspected bank robber. The most detrimental evidence I found against the suspect was the presence of clothing matching the description of the bank robber’s. The fact that this evidence was scattered along the same fence line that led investigators to the suspect in Home 2 from where the vehicle was found is nearly impossible to refute. Also, the suspect would have had ample time to hide the stolen money and his weapon since another individual had been apprehended by the closest officer on duty, causing a momentary distraction.

Forensic Findings and DNA Evidence

Regardless of circumstances, as a juror, scientific evidence speaks volumes. Unlike circumstantial evidence, forensic analysis is hard to disprove. The forensic findings and testimony presented in this case by the Prosecution aid in proving guilt in numerous ways. First, the snub-nose revolver, for example, found along the fence line of Home 2 was the same type of gun used in the robbery at Small Town Bank. This was determined through controlled testing and bullet fragment analysis. Secondly, DNA evidence is extremely reliable, and aided in provided one of the most convincing pieces of evidence in this entire case. It was disappointing that more DNA evidence was not found useful, but DNA testing demonstrated that the black gloves found along the fence line between Home 1 and Home 2 definitely proved that the suspected bank robber was not merely a homeless individual that had been squatting in the attic of Home 2. DNA testing ruled it a fact the same individual found at Home 2 had been wearing the gloves, and therefore, was most surely the person that also discarded them along the fence line. Moreover, this evidence ruled out the idea that the black gloves found near Home 2 could have been worn and discarded by the other individual apprehended at Home 1. I found this to be an important discovery because not only does this clear the first individual that was apprehended, but it serves as additional evidence suggesting the black gloves found near Home 2 were believed by scientific reason to have been worn by the suspected bank robber. Understandably, the shoeprint played an important factor in this case as well. As the Prosecution mentioned, a footprint is not the same a fingerprint, but it does aid in proving the likelihood that an individual was at the scene of the crime. Even though forensic analysis failed to determine an exact type and make of shoe from the shoeprint analysis, which is disappointing, the fact that the shoeprint left at the crime scene matched the same size and tread as the suspected bank robber is overwhelming evidence proving guilt. When we, the jury, combine all of the evidence based on the circumstances, forensic findings and DNA evidence surrounding the crime, we can collectively see that the suspect is guilty of this crime.

As we know, in the realm of criminal law, “guilty beyond reasonable doubt” does not mean that no amount of doubt exists. Rather, it is a way for jurors to ask ourselves whether or not any other conclusion presented, other than the one suggested by the presented evidence, exemplifies rational sense. In the case of the bank robbery in a Small Town Bank robbery, the suspect robbed the bank at gunpoint, fled travelling South in a stolen vehicle, abandoned the stolen vehicle, attempted to hide and dispose of evidence after deserting the stolen vehicle, successfully broke into and entered a citizen’s home, and attempted to evade police officers by hiding in the attic of Home 2 where the suspect was later found and taken into custody. For me, there is no other rational explanation of the events that occurred surrounding the robbery of Small Town Bank.

Essay, Paragraph or Speech on “Bank Robbery” Complete Paragraph or Speech for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

Bank Robbery

Bank Robbery is very common now-a-days. Some people do such crimes just for sake of money. It was March 03 , 2016 when my father had to go to the bank in order to encase one of his fixed deposits. He decided to take me along as my school was closed for summer vacation.

It took us bout twenty minutes to reach the bank. My father told to me seated on the sofa lying near the door and he proceeded to the “FIXED DEPOSIT” counter. People all around were busy in depositing and withdrawing money. Suddenly a car same and stopped near the entrance of the bank. In few seconds, four masked men with weapons entered the bank. They hit the security guard badly and after that took positions and warned the people of dire consequences if they tried to move. They told everyone to raise hands and turn their faces towards the wall. Everybody was filled with fear and terror.

Two of than men went to the Manager’s office and demanded the kits to the strong room; they had snapped the connections of all the telephones. The robbers then entered the strong room and instructed the cashier to open the cash box. They took all the cash and filled it in the bags.

Then, hurriedly all the robbers left the bank and warned everyone that it anyone tried to follow, they would kill him, they escaped from, there in a few minutes. The whole operation took not more than ten minutes. After their escape the Bank Manager sounded the siren and within a few minutes the police arrived the bank. All the people in bank were stunned.

The Great Bank Robbery: Carbanak cybergang steals $1bn from 100 financial institutions worldwide

Kaspersky lab, interpol, europol and authorities from different countries have combined efforts to uncover the criminal plot behind an unprecedented cyberrobbery..

Kaspersky Lab, INTERPOL, Europol and authorities from different countries have combined efforts to uncover the criminal plot behind an unprecedented cyberrobbery. Up to one billion American dollars was stolen in about two years from financial institutions worldwide. The experts report that responsibility for the robbery rests with a multinational gang of cybercriminals from Russia, Ukraine and other parts of Europe, as well as from China. The Carbanak criminal gang responsible for the cyberrobbery used techniques drawn from the arsenal of targeted attacks. The plot marks the beginning of a new stage in the evolution of cybercriminal activity, where malicious users steal money directly from banks, and avoid targeting end users .

Since 2013, the criminals have attempted to attack up to 100 banks, e-payment systems and other financial institutions in around 30 countries. The attacks remain active. According to Kaspersky Lab data, the Carbanak targets included financial organizations in Russia, USA, Germany, China, Ukraine, Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Romania, France, Spain, Norway, India, the UK, Poland, Pakistan, Nepal, Morocco, Iceland, Ireland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Brazil, Bulgaria, and Australia.

It is estimated that the largest sums were grabbed by hacking into banks and stealing up to ten million dollars in each raid. On average, each bank robbery took between two and four months, from infecting the first computer at the bank’s corporate network to making off with the stolen money.

The cybercriminals began by gaining entry into an employee’s computer through spear phishing, infecting the victim with the Carbanak malware. They were then able to jump into the internal network and track down administrators’ computers for video surveillance. This allowed them to see and record everything that happened on the screens of staff who serviced the cash transfer systems. In this way the fraudsters got to know every last detail of the bank clerks’ work and were able to mimic staff activity in order to transfer money and cash out.

How the money was stolen

  • When the time came to cash in on their activities, the fraudsters used online banking or international e-payment systems to transfer money from the banks’ accounts to their own. In the second case the stolen money was deposited with banks in China or America. The experts do not rule out the possibility that other banks in other countries were used as receivers.
  • In other cases cybercriminals penetrated right into the very heart of the accounting systems, inflating account balances before pocketing the extra funds via a fraudulent transaction. For example: if an account has 1,000 dollars, the criminals change its value so it has 10,000 dollars and then transfer 9,000 to themselves. The account holder doesn’t suspect a problem because the original 1,000 dollars are still there.
  • In addition, the cyberthieves seized control of banks’ ATMs and ordered them to dispense cash at a pre-determined time. When the payment was due, one of the gang’s henchmen was waiting beside the machine to collect the ‘voluntary’ payment.

“These bank heists were surprising because it made no difference to the criminals what software the banks were using. So, even if its software is unique, a bank cannot get complacent. The attackers didn’t even need to hack into the banks’ services: once they got into the network, they learned how to hide their malicious plot behind legitimate actions. It was a very slick and professional cyber-robbery,” said Sergey Golovanov , Principal Security Researcher at Kaspersky Lab’s Global Research and Analysis Team .

"These attacks again underline the fact that criminals will exploit any vulnerability in any system. It also highlights the fact that no sector can consider itself immune to attack and must constantly address their security procedures. Identifying new trends in cybercrime is one of the key areas where INTERPOL works with Kaspersky Lab in order to help both the public and private sectors better protect themselves from these evolving threats," said Sanjay Virmani , Director of the INTERPOL Digital Crime Centre .

Kaspersky Lab urges all financial organizations to carefully scan their networks for the presence of Carbanak and, if detected, report the intrusion to law enforcement.

Feds arrest alleged Columbus robber suspected in three bank robberies

by WSYX Staff

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — FBI agents charged a Columbus man in connection with three bank robberies last month, including one where he allegedly got into the bank vault.

Hussein Mohamed faces charges of bank robbery and conspiracy.

A criminal complaint written by an FBI agent accuses him of stealing:

  • $2,000 from a Telhio Credit Union on North Hamilton Road on April 11
  • $1,073 from a Fifth Third Bank on Bethel Road on April 16
  • 22,000 from a Huntington Bank on North High Street less than two hours later on April 16.

Each time, agents said the suspect showed the teller a note on his phone demanding money.

On the last robbery, agents said he pulled out a black handgun and racked the slide, forcing bank employees into the vault.

He grabbed approximately $20,000 from the vault in addition to the $2,000 in the teller's draw.

The employees were able to activate and place a GPS tracker into the bag.

Investigators recovered DNA from the vault and found video of the car used in the robbery thanks to the GPS tracking data.

Agents said they identified Mohamed and a second unnamed suspect.

Mohamed was arrested on May 14 and remains in federal custody pending a detention hearing.

The word “victory” is everywhere in Moscow these days.

It is being projected from gargantuan LED screens alongside major intersections and highways and written on red flags whipping in the wind. It’s prominent at an exhibit of Western weapons destroyed on Ukrainian battlefields and lugged back to Moscow as war trophies on display in — where else? — Victory Park.

Victory is precisely the message that President Vladimir V. Putin, 71, has sought to project as he has been feted with pomp and pageantry after another electoral success, while his army sweeps through Ukrainian villages in a stunning new offensive in the northeast.

“Together, we will be victorious!” Mr. Putin said at his inauguration last week after securing a fifth term as president. Two days later, the country celebrated Victory Day, Russia’s most important public holiday, which commemorates the Soviet contribution to the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II.

Honor guard members walk down a red carpet in the center of a large hallway as people look on from either side.

During the first year of the invasion, many Russians were shocked and ashamed by the war; hundreds of thousands left the country. During the second year, they were concerned about a potential second wave of mobilization.

But with the war now in its third year, many Russians seem to have learned to accept it, interviews over the last week and recent polling show. And “victory” is an easy sell in Mr. Putin’s Russia.

Western sanctions have inflicted few economic hardships. The military news from Ukraine is increasingly positive. Yes, soldiers are still returning in coffins, but mostly to families in the hinterlands , not among the Moscow elite. And for many, the deaths only reinforce the idea, pushed by state news media and driven home relentlessly by Mr. Putin, that Russia is facing an existential threat from the West.

“We can feel that victory is near,” said Andrei, 43, who said he traveled to Moscow for the May 9 holiday celebrations from the Chita region, almost 3,000 miles from the capital.

Like others interviewed for this story, he declined to provide his last name, indicating apparent mistrust of Western news media.

He was among those who braved the cold and even snow to visit the collection of recently captured Western military equipment. (Ukraine also displays destroyed Russian tanks in the center of Kyiv). But the brash exhibit in Moscow, with flags on the equipment showing which countries donated them to Ukraine, fits Russia’s narrative that it is fighting against the whole developed world — and winning.

“When you see all this, and all these flags, it is clear that the whole world is supplying weapons and you know that a world war is going on,” Andrei said. “It’s Russia against the whole world, as usual.”

Ivan, another visitor to Victory Park, waited his turn to pose in front of the rusted and charred hulk of the German Leopard tank, flashing a smile and giving a thumbs up as his friend photographed him. People jostled for a spot beside a similarly destroyed American-made M1 Abrams tank.

“There has been so much talk about these Abrams, about these Leopards, and what is the result?” said Ivan, 26.

“They are all standing here, we are looking at them, we see what condition they are in. This is great!” He smiled.

The bravado exhibited by Russians like Andrei and Ivan this month mirrors the confident posture of Mr. Putin as he steers Russia past economic challenges and to greater battlefield advantage in Ukraine.

His inauguration included a church service in which he was blessed by the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill I, who expressed hope that the president would remain in power until “the end of the century.”

According to the Levada Center, an independent polling institution, about 75 percent of Russians profess support for their army’s actions in Ukraine. (About a quarter of the population is against the war, the poll and other research shows, but protests are effectively banned, and repression is so intense that many people are afraid to acknowledge or share antiwar or anti-government content online).

Thousands who fled Russia have returned. Their lives have adapted to the new normal, and have actually changed less than those in the West might expect.

“It’s what, the 13th package of sanctions they’re making?” Ivan said, laughing. “So far, we don’t feel anything.”

Robots built by Yandex, Russia’s homegrown version of Google, can be seen traversing Moscow’s sidewalks making deliveries. Inflation is under control, at least for now. According to a report last month by Forbes, the number of billionaires in Moscow — measured in U.S. dollars — increased so much that the city moved up four spots in the global rankings, behind only New York City.

“Most of the brands that allegedly left Russia have not gone anywhere,” said Andrei, adding that he and his daughter planned to have lunch at a rebranded K.F.C. What had changed, he said, was that “the consolidation of society has taken place” over the rationale for the war, as well as the conservative social values Mr. Putin is pushing.

Mr. Putin and others trumpeted that apparent cohesion when the official results of his preordained election victory in March were announced, with a record 88 percent of the vote going to the incumbent, a figure that Western democracies decried as a sham.

“Russia is such a complicated, multiethnic country that to understand it and govern it, you need more than one term,” said Oleg V. Panchurin, 32, a veteran of the war in Ukraine.

“If it’s going to be President Putin, then I would be happy if he served 10 terms,” said Mr. Panchurin, who said had been recently wounded near Zaporizhzhia by a Ukrainian drone.

Some civilians who were interviewed said they were pleased the president had taken a hard-line conservative position promoting traditional family values.

Zhenya, 36, and his girlfriend, Masha, expressed gratitude that the government had “finally handled the L.G.B.T.Q. issue” — by banning what it called the “L.G.B.T.Q. movement.” The pair were attending a 1940s-themed Victory Day celebration in a park in central Moscow where participants fox-trotted and waltzed as a live military band played.

With no one who could credibly replace him, the prospect that Mr. Putin will stay in power as long as he is alive feels increasingly possible to ordinary Russians, said Andrei Kolesnikov, a Moscow-based senior fellow at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center.

“Everyone understands that this is for a long time,” he said. “The longer he is in power, the more apprehension there is about who will be next, who will be worse.”

“We are moving closer to a scenario where we could see the effect of Stalin, when, after his death, people were crying, because people didn’t know how to live,” Mr. Kolesnikov added.

Russians who oppose the government say they increasingly fear that they will have to wait for Mr. Putin’s death for anything to change.

“I feel a very strong sense of hopelessness,” said Yulia, 48, a teacher who was visiting the grave of Aleksei A. Navalny, the opposition politician, in southeast Moscow. Mr. Navalny, who died in prison in an Arctic penal colony in February, had long been considered the only possible challenger to Mr. Putin. Yulia declined to use her last name out of fear of possible repercussions.

“I don’t see a way out of this,” she said.

Yulia’s son, Pavel, said, “We are sure that everything depends on the death of person in a certain place.” His mother shushed him, noticing the uniformed Russian National Guard forces that stood nearby; even in death, Mr. Navalny is still monitored closely by the government. Still, there was a steady stream of visitors to the grave.

On the other side of Moscow, mourners were still coming to show their respects to the 145 victims of the March 22 terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, one of the deadliest in Europe in the past decade. Floral wreaths, plush toys and photos of the victims were placed near the destroyed concert hall.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, and American officials have blamed Islamic State Khorasan Province, or ISIS-K , a branch of the group. Even so, the Kremlin has sought to cast blame on Ukraine and the West.

One woman who declined to give her name said she was sure the West was behind it — despite the fact that the United States had warned Moscow of an imminent attack . According to the Levada Center, half of those polled believe Ukraine was behind the attack, with almost 40 percent saying Western intelligence services were involved.

Vladimir, 26, who was visiting the improvised memorial for the first time, said he didn’t blame the Kremlin for failing to heed the warnings.

“I want the terrorists to be destroyed,” said Vladimir, a supermarket employee. But the president, he said, was doing a great job. “He works so hard.”

“ May God keep him alive and healthy,” he said. “If, God forbid, Putin dies, what will happen to our country?”
