In the aftermath of World War I, the Institute of International Education (IIE) first began its work by organizing student exchanges with several European governments as well as faculty and teacher exchanges.

Awalnya merasa hopeless banget sama IELTS karena bener-bener buta tentang IELTS, sampe akhirnya coba cari-cari di google dan nemu IEDUC.

Minggu-2 awal les, rata-rata temen di kelas udah pada jago, jadi gak pede, tapi lambat laun dengan bantuan para teacher (Bu Dwi, Ms. Vini, Ms. Ervien, Mr. Arham, dll.)

score makin naik dari Cuma 4.0, test international bisa dapet 6.5, padahal tes akhir di IEDUC Cumadapet 6.0, disini bisa dilihat bahwa standar test di IEDUC emang tinggi.

Bersyukur banget karena belajar di IEDUC nyaman banget, temen-temen dan guru-gurunya supportive, belajar jadi seneng.. berasa punya keluarga baru.

The International Education Centre is located in C021 in Student Central. The International Education Centre does not provide walk-in advising . To meet with one of our staff please review the options below and make the selection that applies to you to learn how to book an appointment or reach our team. If you wish to withdraw from your program or individual courses, or you are looking to transfer to a different program , visit the Withdrawal website to book an appointment.

• Ongoing Support - International Education Centre

The International Education Centre (IEC) assists students throughout their academic journey - before you arrive, during your studies and as you are about to graduate.  

While studying at the college, the IEC also advocates on your behalf and acts as a liaison with other departments and services to ensure international students have the skills, support and advice they need to succeed in their studies and reach their career goals.

Services offered by IEC:

• Acts as a liaison and refers international students to relevant departments and services
• Advocates for international students
• Arranges mandatory health insurance coverage for international students and Canadian students studying abroad
• Delivers scholarships to international students
• Offers immigration and academic advising to international students
• Organizes cultural and recreational activities during the year
• Promotes social connections through an active Facebook Page, with international specific information
• Promotes diversity within the College
• Provides English language training in our ESL (English as a Second Language)and EAP (English for Academic Purposes) programs
• Provides international students with an in-depth orientation to Confederation College and Thunder Bay
• Facilitates on-campus and home-stay accommodation for international students;
• Serves as a first point of contact for international students for emergencies, issues or concerns

Services available elsewhere, on and off campus:

• Transcripts (these can be picked up at The Hub)
• Booking meetings with faculty and instructors
• Employment help (but we do offer workshops on resume writing and job search)
• Off-Campus housing (we can direct you to helpful websites)

Please note: Payment plans are not available. Payments are due on the day stated on your LOA or in the academic calendar; payment plans are not available at Confederation.

Our International Student Advisors assist with a broad range of academic and immigration matters that pertain to international students. 

• Spousal immigration questions or spousal applications such as work permits.
• Permanent residency applications.
• Completion of immigration applications..... but we will show you how to complete them yourself.
• Calls to IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) for students.  Students can easily call themselves at 1-888-242-2100  (have your UCI number and application number ready).
• Creating travel letters.....but we will show you how to do this yourself.

We also cannot help with US visa applications or visa applications for any other countries.

For Students Facing Significant Financial Difficulties: A Payment Plan May Be Available

Payment plans may be available for eligible students, who have already completed one year of study at Confederation College and who are facing undue hardship and financial need.

Application Details: To apply for a payment plan, students must meet eligibility criteria (see below) and submit:

• A complete application form;
• A copy of their most recent transcript;
• Banking & credit card statements for the previous four months;
• A budget; and
• A statement of need.

Application Submission Dates: Payment plan applications will be considered two weeks prior to the registration date for each semester.  Applications submitted before that date OR after the first day of class will not be considered.  Application forms may be requested three weeks prior to the registration start date.  

Eligibility Criteria: To apply for a payment plan, you must:

• Be entering 3 rd or 4 th semester of studies at Confederation College (this may be in your first or second program of study at Confederation College);
• Clearly demonstrate financial need;
• Be actively pursuing your studies, & attending all classes;
• Be in good academic standing with a minimum program GPA of 2.0;
• Have complied with the terms of any previous payment plan; and
• Have no fees outstanding or owed to the College.

Please Note: 

• Students entering the first or second semester of study at Confederation College are not eligible to apply for a payment plan.
• Incomplete applications will not be considered.
• Submission of an application does not guarantee approval.
• An administration fee of $75.00 and a late fee of $150.00 will be added to all payment plans.

Next steps in ensuring the integrity and sustainability of the international education sector

Next week the Albanese Government will introduce legislation to support the integrity and sustainability of the international education sector.  

The legislation will enable the Minister for Education to set an allocation for the maximum number of new international student enrolments education providers can offer.

For vocational education, these allocations will be set based on advice from the Minister for Skills and Training. 

The legislation will also deliver important reforms to strengthen the integrity and quality of international education, including the power to:

• Prevent education providers from owning education agent businesses. 
• Pause applications for registration from new international education providers and of new courses from existing providers for periods of up to 12 months.
• Require new providers seeking registration to demonstrate a track record of quality education delivery to domestic students before they are allowed to recruit international students.
• Cancel dormant provider registrations to prevent them being used as a market entry tool by unscrupulous actors.
• Prevent providers under serious regulatory investigation from recruiting new international students. 
• Improve the sharing of data relating to education agents. 
• In addition, the Government will prohibit agent commissions on student transfers between providers in Australia to remove incentives for unscrupulous agents and providers to ‘poach’ students.

This is the next step in delivering on the objectives of the Government’s Migration Strategy and is informed by engagement with the international education sector. 

The Government is also today releasing the draft International Education and Skills Strategic Framework . The draft Framework will support consultation with the sector on how to implement a system of sustainable, managed growth in international student enrolments. 

The Framework will support the sustainability, quality and integrity of our world-class international education sector.

The Government will work with international education providers to limit the number of international students that can be enrolled over a particular period of time. 

If universities want to enrol international students above that limit, they will be required to establish additional, new supply of purpose-built student accommodation to benefit both international and domestic students and free up pressure on the rental market. 

International students are an incredibly important part of our economy and our communities, and we need to ensure the sector is set up for the future. 

Through the new Framework, the Albanese Government is taking an active role in supporting:

• a sector built on quality and integrity
• a managed system to deliver sustainable growth over time, and
• Australian providers to take our high-quality education and training to the world.

The Framework will provide greater certainty for the sector, particularly Australia’s regional universities, and enable international education to better contribute to Australia’s skills needs.

The Government will consult with the sector on all aspects of the Framework over the coming months and release the final Framework later this year.

“Most providers do the right thing and are in education and training for the right reasons. They will benefit from a high quality and sustainable international education sector, and the Government’s efforts to crack down on non-genuine and unscrupulous actors who undermine integrity and trust in the sector.”

An Overview of the IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to measure English proficiency for educational, vocational and immigration purposes. The IELTS measures an individual's ability to communicate in English across four areas of language: listening , reading , writing and speaking . The IELTS is administered jointly by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment at over 1,100 test centres and 140 countries. These test centres supervise the local administration of the test and recruit, train and monitor IELTS examiners.

IELTS tests are available on 48 fixed dates each year, usually Saturdays and sometimes Thursdays, and may be offered up to four times a month at any test centre, including Elektrostal' depending on local needs. Go to IELTS test locations to find a test centre in or nearby Elektrostal' and to check for upcoming test dates at your test centre.

Test results are available online 13 days after your test date. You can either receive your Test Report Form by post or collect it from the Test Centre. You will normally only receive one copy of the Test Report Form, though you may ask for a second copy if you are applying to the UK or Canada for immigration purposes - be sure to specify this when you register for IELTS. You may ask for up to 5 copies of your Test Report Form to be sent directly to other organisations, such as universities.

There are no restrictions on re-sitting the IELTS. However, you would need to allow sufficient time to complete the registration procedures again and find a suitable test date.

The Australian Government’s Migration Strategy was released on 11 December 2023. The Strategy is designed to further strengthen the integrity and quality of Australia’s international education programs, better protect international students and support graduates to achieve their career goals.  

Summary of changes 

1. new financial capacity requirement .

From 10 May 2024, the financial requirement that applies to Student and Student Guardian visas will be set at $29,710 for an individual student. The new financial requirement apply to any visas lodged on or after 10 May 2024. For more information visit the Department of Home Affairs website.

2. TOEFL iBT has been reinstated for visa purposes 

TOEFL iBT is again a valid test for student visa purposes and is accepted by all Australian universities. Please note that tests taken between 26 July  2023, and 4 May 2024, are not valid. Tests taken before 26 July  2023, remain valid for two years. 

3. New Genuine Student (GS) requirement 

From 23 March 2024, the new Genuine Student (GS) requirement have replaced the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement with a list of targeted questions.    

4. New English language requirements  

From 23 March 2024, new English language requirements apply to all Student Visa and Temporary Graduate Visa applications.  

Upcoming changes  

1. temporary graduate visa length will be reduced .

The length of post-study work visas will change . However, Australia’s Temporary Graduate visa will still give you time to gain valuable work experience and demonstrate your skills to Australian employers. 

If you gain work in a skilled job during your post-study work period, you may be eligible to apply for the new 4-year Skills in Demand visa. This visa provides a clearer pathway to permanent residency. 

Initial stay periods for Indian nationals will not change, as agreed in the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement. See the  Migration Strategy  for further details.

This change is intended to come into effect from 1 July 2024. 

2. New age limit for Temporary Graduate visa  

The maximum eligible age for Temporary Graduate visa applicants will reduce to 35 years of age or under.   

This change is intended to come into effect from 1 July 2024.  

Pope to Jesuit educators: Always put the person at the centre

Pope Francis met Friday with the International Commission on the Apostolate of Education of the Society of Jesus (ICAJE) in the Vatican, and thanked them for the work they “carry out in Jesuit schools and other schools associated with the mission.”

Realising potential

In prepared remarks, Pope Francis spoke about the initial hesitation of St. Ignatius and his first companions regarding the importance of schools but highlighted their eventual realisation of the "immense evangelising potential" that education holds.

This realisation, said the Pope, has allowed Jesuit schools to ensure that "the message of the Gospel continues to be heard among the new generations, accompanied by the academic and intellectual rigor that characterises them."

Keep Jesus at the heart of your mission

Pope Francis went on to emphasise the importance of keeping Jesus at the heart of Jesuit education and praised the Jesuits' commitment to integrating the Gospel into their curriculum and activities, fostering an environment where young people can engage with the teachings of Jesus and contribute to the common good.

"This is true education: accompanying young people so that they discover in service to others and in academic rigor the construction of the common good," he said.

Pope Francis also highlighted the new Global Compact on Education, which aims to shift the focus of education from personal success to the collective well-being of humanity.

"We need to move from the culture of the 'I' to the culture of the 'we', where quality education is defined as such by its humanising results and not by economic results," he stressed. This shift, he continued, requires placing the person at the centre of the educational process.

Lead by example

Pope Francis underscored the need for educators to embody the values they wish to impart to their students. "The best way to educate is through example,” said the Pope, adding “modelling in ourselves what we desire in our students. This is how Jesus educated his disciples."

The Holy Father called on Jesuit educators to ensure that their formation programs help teachers discover their potential and deep calling to accompany others, particularly those on the margins of society.

A positive future

Bringing his discourse to a close, Pope Francis expressed his optimism about the impact of a renewed global educational pact.

He warned against the violence and polarisation that are currently plaguing the world and he highlighted the need for a hopeful future built on shared responsibilities and common goals.

"Education is a work of sowing and many times 'we sow in tears to reap with songs'," he said.

Finally, he concluded, “education is a long-term task, with patience, where the results are sometimes unclear; even Jesus at first did not obtain good results with the disciples, but He was patient, and continues to be patient with us to teach us that educating means waiting, persevering, and insisting with love."
