Job summary
We are looking to recruit Community Staff Nurse for various hours and various bases
Main duties of the job
Whilst community experience would be an advantage we are keen to recruit those who have relevant transferable skills who are enthusiastic to develop their career in the community setting.
You will be required to work predominantly day shifts on a flexible rota, including weekends and Bank Holidays; however you may be required to work shifts across the 24 hour period depending on service needs. Access to a car for work purposes is essential.
The posts require good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to be adaptable, reliable and approachable. You will have a sound knowledge of recent changes within the NHS and current professional issues. You will be working in a lone capacity under the direction of a Team Leader and in conjunction with other team members, ensuring clinical standards are maintained using evidence based practice.
You will have a good knowledge of the components of Clinical Governance, Best Practice, Risk Management, Clinical Audit and relevant Professional Codes. You will be flexible, adaptable and reliable and be able to evidence excellent clinical skills.

Applications are welcome from those who are due to qualify. Allowing you to gain valuable experience working in the Community, we can start you as a Nursing Auxiliary, Band 4. You would be accompanied with a registered nurse, but would attend any non-registered visits (simple tasks) on your own.

Experience and knowledge
- Understanding of National Government initiatives in health and social care and how they impact on local services
- Knowledge of a broad range of conditions, experienced by patients in community and general practice settings. This will include LTCs, for example diabetes, coronary heart disease, heart failure, hypertension and stroke, COPD, arthritis, dementia and other common mental illnesses, frailty and palliative and end of life care.
- An understanding of the presentations of multiple pathology, depression and anxiety states and frailty, predominantly in older people.
- Knowledge of the management of uncomplicated symptoms in those patients with palliative or terminal care needs and enhanced communication skills to confidently manage uncertainty
- Understands the role of the Staff Nurse on the Community
- Community Nursing experience
Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse educated to degree level (or equivalent)
- Current NMC registration
- Evidence of further recent professional development
- Mentorship module or working towards

Role description
The role of an Acute Response Administrator is to provide accurate, organised and timely administrative support to the Acute Response Team.

Daily tasks include:
- Ensuring repeat medication is issued in line with the protocols which are already in place
- Managing patient queries in relation to medication
- Ensure that any queries raised are dealt with quickly and correctly
- Liaising with other health care professionals such as community pharmacists, consultants and GPs to manage queries from outside the practice
RESEARCH ADMINISTRATOR - Spital Surgery
A Research Administrator’s role is to support the practice by:
- Communicating with other sites/surgeries
- Filing and maintaining site files
- Arranging appointment for patients
- Updating medical staff diaries as required
- Organising patient letters
- Updating excel spreadsheets
- Managing stock i.e. any deliveries
- Check fridge and log temperature daily
- Organising general documentation
This a three year role which be based at Spital Surgery although travel may be required to attend offsite Investigators Meetings (travel expenses will be paid as per the guidance of the pharmaceutical company) and a local sites involved within the project.
This post will enable a person to develop unique skills under the careful training umbrella of a large blue chip pharmaceutical company in partnership with the NHS.
At the end of the three years the person may be able to move towards the trained role of Research Study Facilitator.
