Motivational Speech About Exercise [1 to 3 Minutes]

Good morning everyone! I’m here today to talk about the importance of exercise and how it can benefit us in our everyday lives. Exercise can help us stay healthy, maintain our weight, and keep us energized throughout the day.

Regular physical activity can help prevent heart disease and stroke, reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes, reduce your risk of some cancers, strengthen your bones and muscles, improve your mental health and mood, and help you to maintain a healthy weight. Exercise can also reduce stress and improve sleep, making it an essential part of overall health.

Incorporating exercise into your daily routine is not very tough. There are many types of exercise you can do, such as walking or running, yoga or Pilates, or playing a sport. It is important to find an activity you enjoy and to mix up your routine so that you stay motivated and engaged.

When getting started with regular exercise, it’s important to set realistic goals for yourself. Start small and progress slowly, choose a range of activities that you enjoy, and find ways to be active such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator or going for a walk on your lunch break.

Starting and continuing an exercise routine can be difficult. Engaging in physical activities that you enjoy will increase the likelihood of making exercise a part of your lifestyle. Some ways to stay motivated include involving friends in your routine, listening to music while exercising, or rewarding yourself after a successful workout.

You can also set up a home gym. Working out from the comfort of your own home requires minimal cost and is great for those who prefer privacy. However, You can get injuries while exercising without expert supervision. So, it is important to pay attention to the precautions to be taken.

Once you start exercising, it becomes important to stick with your exercise routine. Tracking your progress is a great way to stay motivated and keep you on track for achieving your fitness goals. After completing one goal challenge yourself with another one.

Exercise is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle and it can be fun. So let’s all make an effort to get moving today! Thank you.

Speech on Health and Fitness for Students and Children

Speech on health and fitness.

Hello everyone. I am here to present a speech on health and fitness. The very known two terms to us are the word ‘health’ and ‘fitness’. Many times we tell or use these words whenever we say phrases like ‘health is wealth’ and ‘fitness is the key’. What does the word health really mean? It implies the idea of ‘being well’. A healthy and fit person is the one when he/she can function well physically as well as mentally. Proper health and fitness do not depend on our own but also on our physical environment and the quality of food intake.

Health and fitness is the most important aspect of our life.  There is nothing more important than health for any human being.  When we are healthy and fit we are able to enjoy our life well. We can talk to our near and dear one, we can laugh, smile, travel, enjoy food, and sleep well.

But when our health and fitness is not up to the mark, we are unable to do anything properly and stay behind. We cannot enjoy eating, watching sports or movies.  Our mood always remains negative and we are unable to talk nicely with our near and dear or even sleep properly.

Our health and fitness are more valued than our wealth.  In fact, our elders were always been focused on the health and fitness part. They treasure it like wealth. To maintain good health and fitness at its best all the time, we need to take care of hygiene and sanitation around us.

We must eat a healthy and complete diet.  We must eat vegetables, milk, egg, etc. Everyone should make a diet chart and ensure that we take a sufficient amount of carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, and vitamins.  Apart from eating we must maintain cleanliness in our room, house and nearby surroundings.

Roots Affecting Health and Fitness

Well, there are many factors that are responsible for the staggering health and fitness graph. But the major reason is the personal habit and living style of people. A human body requires 20 gm fat per day. The consumption of just a regular pizza adds 10 grams of fat to the human body; a whopper burger blesses you with 13 gm fat and 100 gm French fries promote 15 gm fat to your body.

All the junk foods are destroying people’s health and fitness these days. Due to the fast-paced life, people are concerned about filling their stomachs rather than considering what they are eating and its effect on their health and body.

Health and Fitness tips

As we know that health and fitness play an important role in our overall wellbeing so we should try for a good balance between mind, body, and soul. I have some suggested activities to maintain proper health and fitness. One can start playing games and sports. An active body can metabolize well and so keep us in good shape.

Yoga has got a lot of health and fitness benefits such as flexibility, burn calories, increase blood flow, boosts immunity. Proper food selection leads to eating healthy. The intake of vitamins found in vegetables and fruits, proteins found in whole grains and lean meat keeps us healthy. Eat foods that have less oil are good to control cholesterol levels.

Avoid smoking and drinking as they affect our sleep which is important for the body to remain healthy and in good shape. Exercising improves the general health of the body. One must take at least thirty minutes a day to do some exercises or walk.

As told by Dalai Lama “Happiness is the highest form of health”. Happiness will come only when we will be healthy and fit. But today we live in a world where we value things more than people, work more than family, food more than health and status more than life.

We rush after money and social status and we forget about our health. What’s the value of life if we don’t live healthy and fit. This absurd attitude has ruined our lives and it will continue to do so unless we open up our eyes and see the reality.

Physical Activity Is Good for the Mind and the Body

speech on the importance of exercise

Health and Well-Being Matter is the monthly blog of the Director of the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.

Everyone has their own way to “recharge” their sense of well-being — something that makes them feel good physically, emotionally, and spiritually even if they aren’t consciously aware of it. Personally, I know that few things can improve my day as quickly as a walk around the block or even just getting up from my desk and doing some push-ups. A hike through the woods is ideal when I can make it happen. But that’s me. It’s not simply that I enjoy these activities but also that they literally make me feel better and clear my mind.

Mental health and physical health are closely connected. No kidding — what’s good for the body is often good for the mind. Knowing what you can do physically that has this effect for you will change your day and your life.

Physical activity has many well-established mental health benefits. These are published in the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans and include improved brain health and cognitive function (the ability to think, if you will), a reduced risk of anxiety and depression, and improved sleep and overall quality of life. Although not a cure-all, increasing physical activity directly contributes to improved mental health and better overall health and well-being.

Learning how to routinely manage stress and getting screened for depression are simply good prevention practices. Awareness is especially critical at this time of year when disruptions to healthy habits and choices can be more likely and more jarring. Shorter days and colder temperatures have a way of interrupting routines — as do the holidays, with both their joys and their stresses. When the plentiful sunshine and clear skies of temperate months give way to unpredictable weather, less daylight, and festive gatherings, it may happen unconsciously or seem natural to be distracted from being as physically active. However, that tendency is precisely why it’s so important that we are ever more mindful of our physical and emotional health — and how we can maintain both — during this time of year.

Roughly half of all people in the United States will be diagnosed with a mental health disorder at some point in their lifetime, with anxiety and anxiety disorders being the most common. Major depression, another of the most common mental health disorders, is also a leading cause of disability for middle-aged adults. Compounding all of this, mental health disorders like depression and anxiety can affect people’s ability to take part in health-promoting behaviors, including physical activity. In addition, physical health problems can contribute to mental health problems and make it harder for people to get treatment for mental health disorders.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the need to take care of our physical and emotional health to light even more so these past 2 years. Recently, the U.S. Surgeon General highlighted how the pandemic has exacerbated the mental health crisis in youth .

The good news is that even small amounts of physical activity can immediately reduce symptoms of anxiety in adults and older adults. Depression has also shown to be responsive to physical activity. Research suggests that increased physical activity, of any kind, can improve depression symptoms experienced by people across the lifespan. Engaging in regular physical activity has also been shown to reduce the risk of developing depression in children and adults.

Though the seasons and our life circumstances may change, our basic needs do not. Just as we shift from shorts to coats or fresh summer fruits and vegetables to heartier fall food choices, so too must we shift our seasonal approach to how we stay physically active. Some of that is simply adapting to conditions: bundling up for a walk, wearing the appropriate shoes, or playing in the snow with the kids instead of playing soccer in the grass.

Sometimes there’s a bit more creativity involved. Often this means finding ways to simplify activity or make it more accessible. For example, it may not be possible to get to the gym or even take a walk due to weather or any number of reasons. In those instances, other options include adding new types of movement — such as impromptu dance parties at home — or doing a few household chores (yes, it all counts as physical activity).

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I built a makeshift gym in my garage as an alternative to driving back and forth to the gym several miles from home. That has not only saved me time and money but also afforded me the opportunity to get 15 to 45 minutes of muscle-strengthening physical activity in at odd times of the day.

For more ideas on how to get active — on any day — or for help finding the motivation to get started, check out this Move Your Way® video .

The point to remember is that no matter the approach, the Physical Activity Guidelines recommend that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity (anything that gets your heart beating faster) each week and at least 2 days per week of muscle-strengthening activity (anything that makes your muscles work harder than usual). Youth need 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day. Preschool-aged children ages 3 to 5 years need to be active throughout the day — with adult caregivers encouraging active play — to enhance growth and development. Striving toward these goals and then continuing to get physical activity, in some shape or form, contributes to better health outcomes both immediately and over the long term.

For youth, sports offer additional avenues to more physical activity and improved mental health. Youth who participate in sports may enjoy psychosocial health benefits beyond the benefits they gain from other forms of leisure-time physical activity. Psychological health benefits include higher levels of perceived competence, confidence, and self-esteem — not to mention the benefits of team building, leadership, and resilience, which are important skills to apply on the field and throughout life. Research has also shown that youth sports participants have a reduced risk of suicide and suicidal thoughts and tendencies. Additionally, team sports participation during adolescence may lead to better mental health outcomes in adulthood (e.g., less anxiety and depression) for people exposed to adverse childhood experiences. In addition to the physical and mental health benefits, sports can be just plain fun.

Physical activity’s implications for significant positive effects on mental health and social well-being are enormous, impacting every facet of life. In fact, because of this national imperative, the presidential executive order that re-established the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition explicitly seeks to “expand national awareness of the importance of mental health as it pertains to physical fitness and nutrition.” While physical activity is not a substitute for mental health treatment when needed and it’s not the answer to certain mental health challenges, it does play a significant role in our emotional and cognitive well-being.

No matter how we choose to be active during the holiday season — or any season — every effort to move counts toward achieving recommended physical activity goals and will have positive impacts on both the mind and the body. Along with preventing diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and the additional risks associated with these comorbidities, physical activity’s positive effect on mental health is yet another important reason to be active and Move Your Way .

As for me… I think it’s time for a walk. Happy and healthy holidays, everyone!

Yours in health, Paul

Introduction

Health and Fitness are like the two sides of a coin. One must remain fit in order to maintain good Health. In today’s contemporary world, it has become all the more essential that we maintain our Health and physique. In the following long and short speech on Health and Fitness, we have discussed what it means to be fit and its importance in our lives. The speech on physical Fitness explores the various ways as to how we can make time in our busy schedules to ensure that our Health is not compromised in any way. The informative speech on Fitness given below can prove to be very beneficial for the readers.

The quality of life of a human being is not judged by how much he earns but rather by how much he invests in his life. Personal wellbeing and maintaining your body is of the utmost importance for all people. Health is that aspect of one’s life which deals with the physical and mental wellbeing of a person. For a person to live a good life, his personal wellbeing is the first criterion. The physical capacities of a person must be up to the task of his daily work style. A person can be unhappy even if he is not in good Health but someone who is not in good Health will never be able to be happy in his life. A very important thing to note here is that when we talk of Health, we not only talk about the physical appearance of someone but rather the cohesive betterment of an individual. For the individual to be in completely good Health, his mental Health is as important as his physical Health. One should be open about the issues of his or her mental Health and use practices like Yoga to improve their mental Health.

What is Fitness?

A lot of people in our country confuse dealing with Health issues with just making hospitals and taking medicines. That is very wrong to approach the well-being of an individual. To achieve the cohesive wellbeing of an individual or the society as a whole, care should be taken before disease hits an individual by focusing on the Fitness of the people. It is very important to be fit in one’s life as Fitness is something that cannot be bought with money. Fitness is an indicator of discipline and a good lifestyle which should be followed by everyone. A fit person always finds himself at an advantage in the real world.

Long Speech on Health and Fitness

Hello and welcome to everyone present here. On today’s special occasion, I am very excited to present a speech on physical Fitness. Before I begin, I would like each one of you to take a moment and ask yourself what does Health and Fitness mean to you and do you consider yourself to be fit? I am sure all of you must have unique answers of your own. As such, in this speech on Fitness, I would like to provide a general as well as personal insight about what it means to be Healthy and fit.

We must have all come across the old adage, ‘Health is Wealth’ and it is indeed. As we all know, remaining Healthy is key in order to live a fulfilling life. When we speak about being Healthy, we imply the ability to function optimally both physically and mentally. As we explore the dynamics of Health and Fitness, we have to acknowledge the fact that mental Health is as important as physical Health.

So why is it important to be Healthy and physically fit? Because, as human beings, we have limited time on earth and being fit is one of the key requirements that allow us to live and enjoy life. A fit person is more likely to make the most of his/her time in the journey of life. Over the centuries, people have stressed on the importance of good Health. A number of great discoveries and inventions, such as vaccinations and cutting edge technologies have been developed in order to ensure that human beings are able to live a Healthy life. Since the start of civilization, people have embraced various means to ensure that they remain Healthy.

Now, as we discuss the importance of being fit, we must also explore the key components that allow us to be so. When we think about Health and Fitness, the first thought that crosses our mind is exercise and rightly so. As a matter of fact, there is no denying that exercise is the first step towards ensuring that you remain fit. Exercise in any form allows the release of the hormone endorphin, which triggers a feeling of positivity and allows you to make the most of your day.

However, it is important to remember that exercising is only one of the components of being physically fit. In addition to exercise, you must also maintain a Healthy diet. The inclusion of whole grain, proteins, fruits and green leafy vegetables in your diet will ensure that your digestive system is functioning optimally which is a must for maintaining good Health. In addition, you must also ensure to get 6-8 hours of sleep every day in order for your body to metabolize well.

As we have already mentioned above that being fit refers to physical as well as mental Health, it is necessary that we give equal importance to both. Practices such as yoga, meditation can prove to be very relaxing and one often finds solace in them. They allow you to relax and take your mind off the feelings that wear you down. Moreover, one should not hesitate to seek professional help if they do not feel invigorated mentally.

In conclusion, I would like to say that we endeavour all our lives to make sure that we have a better life. So, why not make each day more enjoyable by being Healthy and fit? Make time for yourself, get some exercise, practise meditation and live fully.

Short Speech on Health and Fitness

A hearty welcome to everyone gathered here. Today, I stand before you to deliver a short speech on Fitness. All of us must, at some point in our lives, have heard about the importance of exercise and Fitness. To ensure that we leave Healthily, being fit is an essential criterion. With only a proper body and mind, one can be happy and enjoy and live fully.

Now, our speech on physical Fitness will be resoundingly empty if we do not talk about the importance of exercise for maintaining physical Fitness. If you want to be fit, you will need to exercise on a regular basis. Although with our jam-packed schedules, it seems like an impossible feat to achieve, we must make sure that we make time for an exercise routine. Exercising is crucial not only for being physically fit but also helps to maintain a Healthy mind as the hormones released during exercising help counteract negative thoughts or feelings.

A proper and balanced diet is also equally essential in order to maintain a Healthy physique. A diet containing whole foods and fibres ensures active metabolism is being maintained and the proper functioning of the digestive system. One should also try and include probiotics in the diet for maintaining gut Health.

Since a Healthy individual is not only limited to being physically fit, I would also like to throw some light on mental Health as well. With our busy schedules, we often overburden ourselves with work and tend to ignore our mental Health, which can have devastating effects in the long run. Mental Health, if not more, is as important as physical Health. If we are engrossed with feelings of depression, anxiety, etc., we must make sure to meditate as it will help bring a sense of calm.

To conclude, I would like to say that practices that harm our Health should be avoided and instead we should try to make our lives more fulfilling by focusing on our Health and Fitness.

We all know that exercise is important in our daily lives, but we may not know why or what exercise can do for us.

It’s important to remember that we have evolved from nomadic ancestors who spent all their time moving around in search of food and shelter, travelling large distances on a daily basis. Our bodies are designed and have evolved to be regularly active.

In the same way that a sports car is designed to go fast, we are designed to move. If the sports car is taken out once a week for a 3 mile round trip through a town centre then it would probably develop engine problems fairly quickly.

Over time people too develop problems if they sit down all day at a desk or in front of the TV and minimise the amount of exercise they do.

The Benefits of Exercise

There are many benefits of regular exercise and maintaining fitness and these include:, exercise increases energy levels.

Exercise improves both the strength and the efficiency of your cardiovascular system to get the oxygen and nutrients to your muscles.  When your cardiovascular system works better everything seems easier and you have more energy for the fun stuff in life.

Exercise improves muscle strength

Staying active keeps muscles strong and joints, tendons and ligaments flexible, allowing you to move more easily and avoid injury. Strong muscles and ligaments reduce your risk of joint and lower back pain by keeping joints in proper alignment. They also improve coordination and balance.

Exercise can help you to maintain a healthy weight

See our page: Dieting and Weight Loss for more information.

The more you exercise, the more calories you burn.  In addition, the more muscle you develop, the higher your metabolic rate becomes, so you burn more calories even when you’re not exercising.  The result?  You may lose weight and look better physically which will boost your self-esteem .

Exercise improves brain function

Exercise increases blood flow and oxygen levels in the brain. It also encourages the release of the brain chemicals (hormones) that are responsible for the production of cells in the hippocampus, the part of the brain that controls memory and learning.  This, in turn, boosts concentration levels and cognitive ability, and helps reduce the risk of cognitive degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.

See our pages: Keeping your Mind Healthy and Memory Skills for more information.

There is overwhelming evidence that people who lead active lifestyles are less likely to suffer from illness and more likely to live longer.

Exercise is good for your heart

Exercise reduces LDL cholesterol (the type that clogs your arteries), increases HDL (the good cholesterol) and reduces blood pressure so it lowers the stress on your heart.  Added to this, it also strengthens your heart muscle. Combined with a healthy diet, exercise lowers the risk of developing coronary heart disease.

Regular exercise lowers your risk of developing type 2 diabetes

Regular exercise helps to control blood glucose levels, which helps to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.  Additionally exercise helps to prevent obesity, which is a primary factor in the development of type 2 diabetes.

Exercise enhances your immune system

Exercise improves your body’s ability to pump the oxygen and nutrients around your body that are required to fuel the cells that fight bacteria and viruses.

Staying active reduces the likelihood of developing some degenerative bone diseases

Weight bearing exercise such as running, walking or weight training lowers your risk of both osteoarthritis and osteoporosis – the adage of “ use it or lose it ” really does apply to bones.

Exercise may help to reduce the risk of certain cancers

Being fit may mean that the risks of colon cancer, breast cancer and possibly also lung and endometrial cancers are reduced. Studies by the Seattle Cancer Research Centre have suggested that 35% of all cancer deaths are linked to being overweight and sedentary.

Exercise not only makes you physically fitter but it also improves your mental health and general sense of well-being.

Active people tend to sleep better

Physical activity makes you more tired so you’re more ready to sleep. Good quality sleep helps improve overall wellness and can reduce stress. See our page The Importance of Sleep for more information.

Exercise improves your mood and gives you an improved sense of well-being

Physical activity stimulates the release of endorphins which make you feel better and more relaxed.  These in turn improve your mood and lower your stress levels.

Exercise can help prevent and treat mental illnesses like depression

Physical activity can help you meet people, reduce stress levels , cope with frustration, give you a sense of achievement, and provide some important “me time”, all of which help with depression .

Keeping fit can reduce some of the effects of ageing

Exercise can be fun!

Getting fit is not just about running on a treadmill for hours in your local gym, it can be a dance class or a new hobby like fencing or mountain biking.  It could be a group or team activity like football or a karate class.

Whatever form of exercise you choose, you’ll almost certainly meet new people and may make new friends.

How Much Should you Exercise?

According to the American College of Sports Medicine, current guidelines suggest that to stay healthy, adults between 19 and 64 should try to be active daily and follow these recommendations:

Cardiorespiratory Exercise

Cardiorespiratory exercise, often abbreviated to 'cardio', is any exercise that increases the heartbeat and breathing rate.

Such exercises include walking, running, swimming, cycling, dancing and team sports such as football, hockey, basketball etc.

You should get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week.

These recommendations can be achieved through 30-60 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise (five times a week) or 20-60 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise (three times a week) or a combination of both types.

One continuous session combined with multiple shorter sessions (of at least 10 minutes) is also acceptable.

For those starting out, gradual progression of exercise time, frequency and intensity is recommended. You are more likely to stay on track and avoid injury if you start gently.

Even if you can't reach these minimum targets you can still benefit from some activity.

Resistance Exercise

Resistance exercise is concerned with working the bodies muscle groups and building strength.

It is recommended that adults train each major muscle group two or three days each week using a variety of exercises and equipment.

Very light or light intensity resistance training is best for older persons or previously sedentary adults new to exercise

Two to four sets of each exercise will help adults improve strength and power.

For each exercise, 8-12 repetitions improve strength and power, 10-15 repetitions improve strength in middle-age and older persons starting exercise, while 15-20 repetitions improve muscular endurance.

It is recommended that adults should wait at least 48 hours between resistance training sessions.

Moderate vs Vigorous Intensity

There are a number of different ways to classify the intensity of any exercise, some based on heart rate, some on perceived exertion and some on how the exercise affects your metabolic rate.

Generally Speaking...

Moderate-intensity activity  should raise your heart rate, make you breathe faster and make you feel warm enough to start to sweat.

Vigorous intensity exercise will make you breathe hard, increase your heart rate significantly and make you hot enough to sweat profusely.

The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans suggests that moderate-intensity activity allows you to talk but not to sing, whereas more vigorous activity results in an inability to say more than a few words without pausing for a breath.

Examples of moderate intensity exercise include:

  • Brisk walking (100 steps/minute)
  • Swimming or aqua aerobics
  • Gentle cycling (5-9mph)
  • Badminton or doubles tennis

Examples of vigorous intensity exercise include:

  • Power walking at 5mph or more, or walking uphill briskly
  • Cycling faster than 10mph
  • Martial arts
  • Competitive sports (football, basketball, rugby etc.)
  • Skipping/jump rope

Overall though, any activity that gets you moving, gets your heart rate up and gives you enough pleasure to do it regularly and often is good for you in almost every way.

Have fun, be healthy and feel good!

Importance of Exercise Essay

500+ words essay on the importance of exercise.

We all know that exercise is extremely important in our daily lives, but we may not know why or what exercise can do. It’s important to remember that we have evolved from nomadic ancestors who spent all their time moving around in search of food and shelter, travelling large distances on a daily basis. Our bodies are designed and have evolved to be regularly active. Over time, people may come across problems if they sit down all day at a desk or in front of the TV and minimise the amount of exercise they do. Exercise is a bodily movement performed in order to develop or maintain physical fitness and good health overall. Exercise leads to the physical exertion of sufficient intensity, duration and frequency to achieve or maintain vigour and health. This essay on the importance of exercise will help students become familiar with the several benefits of doing exercise regularly. They must go through this essay so as to get an idea of how to write essays on similar topics.

Need of Exercise

The human body is like a complex and delicate machine which comprises several small parts. A slight malfunction of one part leads to the breakdown of the machine. In a similar way, if such a situation arises in the human body, it also leads to malfunctioning of the body. Exercise is one of the healthy lifestyles which contributes to optimum health and quality of life. People who exercise regularly can reduce their risk of death. By doing exercise, active people increase their life expectancy by two years compared to inactive people. Regular exercise and good physical fitness enhance the quality of life in many ways. Physical fitness and exercise can help us to look good, feel good, and enjoy life. Moreover, exercise provides an enjoyable way to spend leisure time.

Exercise helps a person develop emotional balance and maintain a strong self-image. As people get older, exercise becomes more important. This is because, after the age of 30, the heart’s blood pumping capacity declines at a rate of about 8 per cent each decade. Exercise is also vital for a child’s overall development. Exercising helps to maintain a healthy weight by stoking our metabolism, utilizing and burning the extra calories.

Types of Exercise

There are three broad intensities of exercise:

1) Light exercise – Going for a walk is an example of light exercise. In this, the exerciser is able to talk while exercising.

2) Moderate exercise – Here, the exerciser feels slightly out of breath during the session. Examples could be walking briskly, cycling moderately or walking up a hill.

3) Vigorous exercise – While performing this exercise, the exerciser is panting during the activity. The exerciser feels his/her body being pushed much nearer its limit compared to the other two intensities. This could include running, cycling fast, and heavy-weight training.

Importance of Exercise

Regular exercise increases our fitness level and physical stamina. It plays a crucial role in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. It can help with blood lipid abnormalities, diabetes and obesity. Moreover, it can help to reduce blood pressure. Regular exercise substantially reduces the risk of dying of coronary heart disease and eases the risk of stroke and colon cancer. People of all age groups benefit from exercising.

Exercise can be effective in improving the mental well-being of human beings. It relieves human stress and anxiety. When we come back from work or school, we feel exhausted after a whole day of work. If we can go out to have a walk or jog for at least 30 minutes, it makes us feel happy and relaxed. A number of studies have found that a lifestyle that includes exercise helps alleviate depression. Those who can maintain regular exercise will also reduce their chances of seeing a doctor. Without physical activity, the body’s muscles lose their strength, endurance and ability to function properly. Regular exercise keeps all parts of the body in continuous activity. It improves overall health and fitness, as well as decreases the risk of many chronic diseases. Therefore, physical exercise is very important in our life.

Exercise can play a significant role in keeping the individual, society, community and nation wealthy. If the citizens of a country are healthy, the country is sure to touch heights in every facet of life. The country’s healthy generation can achieve the highest marks in various fields and thereby enable their country to win laurels and glory at the international level. The first step is always the hardest. However, if we can overcome it, and exercise for 21 days continuously, it will be a new beginning for a healthy life.

Exercise: 7 benefits of regular physical activity.

You know exercise is good for you, but do you know how good? From boosting your mood to improving your sex life, find out how exercise can improve your life.

Want to feel better, have more energy and even add years to your life? Just exercise.

The health benefits of regular exercise and physical activity are hard to ignore. Everyone benefits from exercise, no matter their age, sex or physical ability.

Need more convincing to get moving? Check out these seven ways that exercise can lead to a happier, healthier you.

1. Exercise controls weight

Exercise can help prevent excess weight gain or help you keep off lost weight. When you take part in physical activity, you burn calories. The more intense the activity, the more calories you burn.

Regular trips to the gym are great, but don't worry if you can't find a large chunk of time to exercise every day. Any amount of activity is better than none. To gain the benefits of exercise, just get more active throughout your day. For example, take the stairs instead of the elevator or rev up your household chores. Consistency is key.

2. Exercise combats health conditions and diseases

Worried about heart disease? Hoping to prevent high blood pressure? No matter what your current weight is, being active boosts high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, the "good" cholesterol, and it decreases unhealthy triglycerides. This one-two punch keeps your blood flowing smoothly, which lowers your risk of heart and blood vessel, called cardiovascular, diseases.

Regular exercise helps prevent or manage many health problems and concerns, including:

  • Metabolic syndrome.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Type 2 diabetes.
  • Depression.
  • Many types of cancer.

It also can help improve cognitive function and helps lower the risk of death from all causes.

3. Exercise improves mood

Need an emotional lift? Or need to lower stress after a stressful day? A gym session or brisk walk can help. Physical activity stimulates many brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier, more relaxed and less anxious.

You also may feel better about your appearance and yourself when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem.

4. Exercise boosts energy

Winded by grocery shopping or household chores? Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance.

Exercise sends oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. And when your heart and lung health improve, you have more energy to tackle daily chores.

5. Exercise promotes better sleep

Struggling to snooze? Regular physical activity can help you fall asleep faster, get better sleep and deepen your sleep. Just don't exercise too close to bedtime, or you may be too energized to go to sleep.

6. Exercise puts the spark back into your sex life

Do you feel too tired or too out of shape to enjoy physical intimacy? Regular physical activity can improve energy levels and give you more confidence about your physical appearance, which may boost your sex life.

But there's even more to it than that. Regular physical activity may enhance arousal for women. And men who exercise regularly are less likely to have problems with erectile dysfunction than are men who don't exercise.

7. Exercise can be fun — and social!

Exercise and physical activity can be fun. They give you a chance to unwind, enjoy the outdoors or simply do activities that make you happy. Physical activity also can help you connect with family or friends in a fun social setting.

So take a dance class, hit the hiking trails or join a soccer team. Find a physical activity you enjoy, and just do it. Bored? Try something new, or do something with friends or family.

Exercise to feel better and have fun

Exercise and physical activity are great ways to feel better, boost your health and have fun. For most healthy adults, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends these exercise guidelines:

Aerobic activity. Get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity. Or get at least 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity a week. You also can get an equal combination of moderate and vigorous activity. Aim to spread out this exercise over a few days or more in a week.

For even more health benefits, the guidelines suggest getting 300 minutes a week or more of moderate aerobic activity. Exercising this much may help with weight loss or keeping off lost weight. But even small amounts of physical activity can be helpful. Being active for short periods of time during the day can add up and have health benefits.

  • Strength training. Do strength training exercises for all major muscle groups at least two times a week. One set of each exercise is enough for health and fitness benefits. Use a weight or resistance level heavy enough to tire your muscles after about 12 to 15 repetitions.

Moderate aerobic exercise includes activities such as brisk walking, biking, swimming and mowing the lawn.

Vigorous aerobic exercise includes activities such as running, swimming laps, heavy yardwork and aerobic dancing.

You can do strength training by using weight machines or free weights, your own body weight, heavy bags, or resistance bands. You also can use resistance paddles in the water or do activities such as rock climbing.

If you want to lose weight, keep off lost weight or meet specific fitness goals, you may need to exercise more.

Remember to check with a health care professional before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have any concerns about your fitness or haven't exercised for a long time. Also check with a health care professional if you have chronic health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes or arthritis.

English Summary

1 Minute Speech on the Importance of Exercise In English

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I’ll be giving a short speech on the topic of the importance of exercise.

Google defines exercise, that is, physical exercise as a noun, not a verb to be “activity requiring physical effort, carried out to sustain or improve health and fitness.”

The very definition points out the importance of exercise. It is, as the meaning so aptly states, to “sustain or improve health and fitness.”

Now exercise, I would like to reiterate, is for fitness , not to remain “slim” or to achieve any beauty standards. It helps improve the health of the body by reducing the rate of getting affected by diseases and other ailments.

Studies also point out that exercise alleviates stress and enhances mental health. It is even said to increase memory power. It also combats anxiety and depression and is observed to help regulate the sleep schedule of a person. Regular exercise thus increases the longevity of life.

A Wild New Study Sheds Light On Why Exercise Is So Good For Our Brains

Researchers unearth exercise secrets from a biomolecular soup of synthetic innervated muscle tissue.

Young Caucasian woman, adjusting weights on a barbell, during workout in the gym

It’s no secret that regular exercise is great for the body and the brain . Scientific studies have shown, time and time again, that physical activity has both short and long-term cognitive benefits, from boosting memory and concentration in the hours following a gym sesh, to reducing inflammation and mitigating risk of progressive, degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.

New research sheds light on one potential mechanism for exactly how exercise aids in brain health. A study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences shows that when muscles contain more nerve cells, and when those muscle-stimulating nerve cells are active, muscle tissue produces a bevy of brain-boosting compounds.

Muscles all around our bodies are connected to the brain through a network of nerve cells that penetrate into the muscle tissue, creating “innervated muscle.” Past studies have shown that strength and resistance training can increase the level of muscle innervation, bolstering that brain-body connection. Other, complementary research has demonstrated links between loss of innervated muscle and organ impairments and cognitive dysfunction . The new work goes one step further, showing that innervated muscle is important for the production and transport of many molecules that support and improve brain function, including proteins, mRNA, and hormones.

“It’s our individual organs talking to each other.”

Lead author Hyunjoon Kong, a professor of biomolecular engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, told Medical News Today that the study didn’t directly prove that exercise can improve cognitive function, but it did show that exercise enables muscles to maintain the neuron connections necessary for muscles to help the brain.

“With regular muscle contractions, muscles not only secrete these beneficial factors, but also help sustain the innervation necessary for nerves to continue signaling muscles,” he said to MNT. The findings suggest a communication feedback loop wherein exercise prompts nerve cells to grow stronger connections with muscle cells, which supports brain health, which helps maintain more muscle innervation.

“It’s our individual organs talking to each other: The brain tells the nerves to stimulate the muscle, and the muscle releases back molecules beneficial for brain function,” Kong said in a university press statement .

More research is needed to see if these effects hold up in the human body, and not just in synthetic models

Kong and his co-researchers came to their findings by creating a model system of innervated and non-innervated muscle cells, grown on a plastic medium. They stimulated these muscle models with the neurotransmitter glutamate, compared their activity, and analyzed the compounds produced by cells in each condition. They found that innervated cells made more brain-boosting substances and that production of those beneficial biochemicals went up even more with glutamate stimulation – mimicking muscle movement.

The study researchers further exposed neurons to the biomolecular soup created by their synthetic innervated muscle tissue and found increased neural growth, compared with neurons steeped in the products of the nerve-free muscle tissue.

More research is needed to see if these effects hold up in the human body, and not just in synthetic models, to test if exercise can really boost lost muscle innervation and brain health, and to compare the effects of different types of exercise. But, for now, add brain-boosting biological soup to your list of reasons to stay moving.

Lesson Overview

This exercise lesson helps kids understand why being active is important for their bodies and minds. The youth will experience how they feel different before and after physical activity. In this activity, kids will estimate how much daily exercise they get and think of ways they can be more active.

Introduction

Ask young people, why is it good for us to move around and get exercise?

There are so many reasons why exercise is important . S ome of the most important things for kids to know are:

  • Exercise is good for heart health. It helps your heart pump blood all through your body. Your heart can never take a rest, so it needs to be strong! Good food and plenty of exercise help.
  • Exercise can put you in a good mood. When you exercise, your body makes a chemical — called an endorphin — that helps you feel good.
  • Exercise helps your body stay at, or reach, a healthy weight. The food you eat is energy that you put into your body. This energy is also called “calories.” To stay at a healthy weight, you have to use up the energy you eat. Exercise helps you do that. If you don’t use the energy, it stays in your body and can make you gain weight that you don’t need. Extra weight is hard on your heart, muscles, and bones.

Energy In vs. Energy Out

In this exercise lesson , explain that “e nergy in” is the food we eat and the beverages we drink. “Energy out” is the physical activity or exercise we do every day.

Talk with the children about what happens when we take more energy in than energy out and vice versa. Our bodies need energy to properly grow. If we take in more food and beverages on a regular basis than our bodies need , it is possible for us to gain excessive weight. Explain not only the importance of exercise for kids , but also how a healthy balance d diet helps our bodies grow and be healthy.

Activity: Before and After

  • With the kids sitting quietly, explain that you are going to do a classroom experiment involving exercise.
  • On the flip chart or whiteboard draw a vertical line down the middle. Label one column “before” and the other “after.”
  • Ask for words that describe how they are feeling as they are sitting quietly in their seats. Encourage them to pay attention to what kind of mood they are in, what their bodies are telling them, and how much energy they have. They may say things like: calm, tired, antsy, bored, comfortable. Whatever they say is fine as long as they say what they actually feel. Write these words or phrases in the “before” column.
  • Lead the kids in a variety of exercises, such as high-knee marching around the classroom, sit-ups, push-ups, jogging in place, or jumping jacks. See if anyone has suggestions of activities. Exercise for at least five minutes before having them return to their seats.
  • Now have them share how they are feeling after exercising. Write those words in the “after” column. They may say things like: alert, awake, happy, full of energy, excited.
  • It helps your body maintain overall good health.
  • It helps build and maintain healthy bones and muscles.
  • It increases flexibility.
  • It feels good, if done right.

Activity: Thinking Through Exercise Habits

  • Ask: How much time should kids exercise each day? How can you get more? The answer is that it’s good for kids to exercise daily for at least one hour, but wait to offer this until the kids have made suggestions of their own. Then use the following questions to help them think about their own exercise habits.
  • How much exercise do you get at school? Prompt them to think about how much time they spend in gym class, and how much time outside for recess. Ask them if that adds up to one hour a day. You may want to add up the amount of time mentioned on the board.
  • How much exercise do you get when you’re home after school? If young people say that they don’t get much exercise after school, ask them what they do instead of exercise. Ask what their favorite exercise is and plan how they can do more of it. They could turn off the television after 7 p.m., encourage the family to go on a walk before or after dinner, or go outdoors and play with their friends.
  • What about exercise on the weekends? Ask the kids to make a list. Make sure they remember things like soccer, dance, etc., in addition to playing outside with friends. In fact, it can be anything that involves moving your body, like going for a bike ride, walking the dog, running, helping in the yard, ballet class, soccer practice, gym class—anything that gets your body moving. After the kids make their lists, ask them to write downtimes during the day that they can add these exercises to what they’re already doing so that they reach one hour a day.

After this exercise lesson is complete, e ncourage the group to try more simple exercises for kids at least one time, even if they don’t think they will be very good at them. Remind them that you don’t have to think you’re good at something to enjoy and to benefit from it. If they stay open to new possibilities they may be surprised by what they discover.

Speech on Importance of Sports

Sports are more than just games; they’re a crucial part of your life. They help you stay fit, teach you valuable lessons, and bring people together.

You might not realize it, but sports shape your character and boost your confidence. They’re not just about winning or losing, but about learning and growing.

1-minute Speech on Importance of Sports

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good morning to you all. Today, I’d like to discuss a topic close to many of our hearts, the Importance of Sports.

Sports activities are not just about physical activity and exercise. They play a much more profound role in our lives. They shape our character, teach us the value of discipline, and instill a sense of teamwork and responsibility.

In the world of sports, there’s no room for partiality or prejudice. It brings unity among people, irrespective of their background. A football doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, black or white. All it understands is the player’s skill.

2-minute Speech on Importance of Sports

Good afternoon! It gives me immense pleasure to deliver a speech on a subject very close to my heart, the ‘Importance of Sports’. Sports, a form of physical activity, are an integral aspect of human civilization, shaping our health, personalities, and social interactions.

To begin with, the importance of sports for our physical health cannot be overstated. They keep us fit, in shape and help us ward off numerous diseases. Sports like football, athletics, swimming, or badminton enhance our stamina, strength, and flexibility. The physical exertion involved in sports ensures our bodies remain active and provides a great workout for our muscles. Regular sports activities reduce the risk of hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and obesity, among other health conditions.

However, the benefits of sports are not limited to physical health alone. They play an equal, if not more significant, role in maintaining and improving our mental health. Playing sports is a great stress-buster. It releases endorphins, also known as ‘happy hormones’, making us feel happier and more relaxed. Sports also teach us to handle pressure and challenges, improving our focus, concentration, and decision-making skills.

In addition, the importance of sports in character-building is often undersold. Sports instill essential qualities like discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, sacrifice, and accountability. They teach us the value of teamwork and cooperation. Sports make us understand that every individual’s role is crucial for the team’s success, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie. They also teach us to accept defeat gracefully and view it not as a failure, but as a stepping stone towards improvement.

Furthermore, sports foster a spirit of healthy competition. They fuel our desire to excel and teach us to persevere. The competitive nature of sports pushes us to give our best and strive for excellence. It also teaches us to respect our competitors and appreciate their skills and efforts.

Lastly, sports are a significant source of entertainment and recreation. They bring people together, irrespective of their backgrounds, promoting unity and harmony. Be it playing a sport or watching our favorite sports team, these activities give us joy, relaxation, and a break from our daily routines. They have the power to unite people, as seen during sports events, where people from different corners of the world come together to cheer for their teams.

In conclusion, sports are not just games; they are a way of life. They empower us physically, mentally, and emotionally. They shape our character, making us stronger, resilient, and disciplined individuals. They teach us lessons that no textbook can. Therefore, it is crucial for us, especially for the younger generation, to actively participate in sports. The importance of sports in our lives can’t be overlooked, as they contribute significantly to our overall growth and development. Let us embrace sports, not merely as a hobby or an activity but as a crucial part of our lives.

speech on the importance of exercise

Essay on Importance of Exercise | Speech on Importance of Exercise

Exercise means, the daily practice of doing some physical work. Exercise is the key to good health and fresh mind.  The daily practice of some physical work does not mean to take stress on body, but it is actually the stress relieving activity. A good health is obligatory for doing a good work. A famous quote is

“A sound body has a sound mind”

It means that if a person is weak, dull, and sick, he is not able to do his work efficiently and quickly. It is very important to have a fresh mind before any work, like office work, study or some creative work. The people who make exercise as essential part of their routine are more happy and efficient than others. Exercise does not mean to go to gym or some club for daily activity; it only means to do some physical activity no matter how and where.

Essay on Importance of Exercise , Speech on Importance of Exercise , Paragraph on Importance of Exercise , Short Note on Importance of Exercise

Many people chose jogging in the morning which is a excellent way of refreshing mind. Some people use to take sits and stands and make their body active. Another good way of exercise at home is jumping rope, which is equally beneficial for both males and females. If you don’t want to do any of these exercises then still you can do exercise. Just stand in fresh air in the morning and take deep breaths, this will greatly impact your mind.

It is observed that the part of the body which remains inactive for a period of time, it becomes inactive permanently. Our brain works well when it receives continuous and good blood supply, and when we do exercise blood circulation becomes fast and blood is supplied to the brain more efficiently. So when a person keep working all the time by sitting on a chair, his efficiency of work will gradually slow down. If you want to improve your work and want to make your position high in society then make sure that you do some exercise daily, because it is necessary for you, and your health.

Paragraph or Speech on “The Importance of Physical Exercise” Complete Paragraph or Speech for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

The Importance of Physical Exercise

Each of us has a physical body made of muscles, blood, bones and various other living tissues. When any of these are injured  or not working properly, then we get ill. Nobody likes to be ill. So it is important that we keep our body healthy.

Exercising the body is one way of keeping it healthy. If we do not exercise then our muscles become weaker and we are less able to do things properly. Also the bones can become weaker and thus break easily.

There are many types of exercises that we may participate in. we may play badminton, football, netball or whatever games that we prefer. We may also jog, walk, swim or climb a mountain. Older folks prefer less strenuous exercises like Tai Chi, Yoga or a leisurely stroll in the park.

We exercise to keep the body healthy. However, there are some who overdo things and end up injuring themselves. It is fine to jog for a few kilometers. It is madness to jog until we are exhausted. Also, there are people who become addicted to their exercise.

Exercise is important. No exercise may result in a weak body. Too much exercise may result in injury. Neither extreme is good. It is up to us to be sensible in exercising.
