1945 release date: When and where to watch Rana Daggubati, Regina Cassandra's period drama on OTT

The Tamil, Telugu bilingual film set in the pre-independence era in Burma was directed by Sathyasivaa

1945, the period drama, shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, was one among the many surprise releases earlier this year owing to the postponement of biggies like RRR and Radhe Shyam. Starring Rana Daggubati, Regina Cassandra, Sathyaraj and Nasser in key roles, the film directed by Sathyasivaa was almost considered shelved when the male lead and the makers parted ways owing to a few differences. The pre-independence era romance is now out on SunNXT.

The film revolves around a London-educated Aadi, who returns to Burma after his father passes away and appears set to take over the latter's business. He lives in a small town where violent clashes erupt between the Netaji-led INA and the British. Aadi is also set to marry Anandi, the daughter of the local tahsildar Subbaiah. However, the sudden death of his friend Krishna forces Aadi to join INA and his alliance is abruptly called off. Will Aadi and Anandi unite?

The drama produced by SN Rajarajan under K Productions has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The technical crew comprises cinematographer Sathya Ponmar and editor Gopikrishna. The Tamil version of 1945 was initially titled Madai Thiranthu. Kaali Venkat, Saptagiri and Sampath Ram also essay crucial characters in the movie. None of the lead actors in the film went onto promote it during the time of its release and 1945 opened to negative reviews from critics and audiences alike.

Sathyasiva is the director of the 2022 Indian war drama film 1945, which is produced by S. N. Rajarajan of K Production. It was concurrently filmed under the same title in Tamil and Telugu. Starring in the movie are Nassar, Sathyaraj, Regina Cassandra, and Rana Daggubati. The film’s production started in 2016, but it was never completed because to disagreements between the lead actor and the producer. It was finally released in 2022. On January 7, 2022, the Telugu version of the movie was released in theaters. On July 4, 2022, the Tamil version made its debut on a streaming site.

In 1945, word of a purported plane crash involving the death of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose reaches the British police stationed in Burma. With Burma serving as their organizational hub, the INA also intends to launch an uprising in 1945 with the goal of overthrowing the British Raj. But following Netaji’s passing, there is internal conflict among INA members on whether or not he actually passed away. Adhi, an active INA member, tells his fellow INA members that Netaji is still alive, but others don’t want to hear him. Adhi, who is now depressed, thinks back to the time when he was motivated to join the INA.

Adhi, a young and ambitious barrister from India, arrived in Burma in 1942 to work for renowned barrister Subbayya, who was also a British friend and convoy.

ஏ. ஆர் முருகதாஸிடம் 8 வருடங்கள் உதவி இயக்குனராக பணிபுரிந்த என். எஸ் பொன்குமார் இயக்கியுள்ள படம், ஆகஸ்டு 16 1947.இந்தியாவிற்கு சுதந்திரம் கிடைத்த 1947ஆம் ஆண்டில், செங்காடு எனும் கிராமத்தில் வாழும் மக்களை அடிமைபோல் வேலை வாங்கும் ராபர்ட் க்ளைவ் என்பவருக்கும், அவ்வூர் மக்களுக்கும் இடையே நடக்கும் போராட்டம் தான் இப்படம். 'பத்து தல' படத்தில் சிறப்பான கதாப்பாத்திரத்தில் நடித்து நல்ல நடிகர் என பெயர் பெற்ற கௌதம் கார்த்திக், அந்த பெயரை இந்த படத்திலும் தக்க வைத்துள்ளாரா? வாங்க பார்க்கலாம். 

கதையின் கரு:

வெளியுலக தொடர்பே இல்லாத கிராமம்.. அங்கு வாழும் மக்களிடம் சுதந்திரம் கிடைத்த செய்தியை மறைக்க நினைக்கும் கொடூர வில்லன்…இறுதியில் என்ன ஆனது? இதுதான் ஆகஸ்டு 16 1947 படத்தின் கதை. 

1947ஆம் ஆண்டு, இந்தியாவிற்கு சுதந்திரம் கிடைப்பதற்கு ஒரு வாரம் முன்பிருந்து கதை ஆரம்பிக்கிறது. வெளியுலக தொடர்பே இல்லாத  'செங்காடு' எனும் கிராமம், பருத்தி நூல் வளம் நிறைந்த இடம்.  அவ்வூர் மக்களுக்கு, பருத்தி நெய்து பிழைப்பதுதான் வாழ்வாதாரம். அப்படி வேலை செய்யும் மக்களை, சோ‍று தண்ணீர் கொடுக்காமல், சிறுநீர் கூட கழிக்க விடாமல், 16 மணி நேரம் வேலை வாங்கும் அரக்கன், ராபர்ட் க்ளைவ் . இவரை எதிர்போருக்கு மரணம், வேலை செய்யாதோருக்கு சவுக்கடி-சுடுநீர் அபிஷேகம். 

ராபர்ட்டின் மகன் ஜஸ்டின் ,  கண்ணில் படும் பெண்களை தூக்கிக்கொண்டு போய் வன்கொடுமை செய்யும் கொடுமையானவனாக காட்சிப்படுத்தப்படுகிறான். இவர்கள் செய்யும் அட்டூழியங்களுக்கு அவ்வூர் ஜமீன்தார் துணை போகிறார். ஜமீன் தாரின் மகளையும் ஒரு கட்டத்தில் அடைய நினைக்கும் ஜஸ்டினை, அவளது சிறுவயது நண்பணும், அவளை ஒரு தலையாக காதலிப்பவனுமான பரமன் (கௌதம் கார்த்திக்) கொள்கிறான். இதற்கிடையில், ராபர்ட், இந்தியாவிற்கு சுதந்திரம் கிடைத்த விஷயம் தெரிய வர, அதை கிராம மக்களிடமிருந்து மறைத்து அதன் மூலம் ஆதாயம் காண விரும்புகிறான். தனது மகன் ஜஸ்டின் இறந்த செய்தியை அறிந்ததும், அவனைக் கொன்ற பரமனை பழி தீர்க்க வேண்டும் என புறப்படுகிறான், ராபர்ட். இறுதியில் பரமனின் நிலை என்ன ஆனது? செங்காடு மக்களுக்கு சுதந்திரம் கிடைத்த செய்தி தெரிந்ததா? போன்ற கேள்விகளுக்கு விடையாக வருகிறது, க்ளைமேக்ஸ். 

வியக்க வைத்த காட்சியமைப்புகள்:

2010 ஆம் ஆண்டு வெளியான மதராசபட்டினம் படத்தையடுத்து, சுதந்திர காலத்திற்கு ஏற்ற காட்சியமைப்புகள் மற்றும் ஆடை வடிவமைப்பினை இந்த படத்தில்தான் பார்க்க முடிந்தது. அந்த காலத்தில் உபயோகப்படுத்திய பொருட்களில் இருந்து, மக்கள் உபயோகித்த வார்த்தைகள் வரை ஒவ்வொன்றையும்  வடிவமைப்பதில் படக்குழுவின் மெனக்கெடல்கள் தெரிகிறது. அரண்மனை முதல் கூரை வீடு வரை, படத்திற்கும், காட்சிக்கும் ஏற்றவாறு அமையப் பெற்றிருக்கும் காட்சியமைப்புகள் அடடே சொல்ல வைக்கிறது. 

முத்திரை பதித்த நட்சத்திரங்கள்:

காமெடி மற்றும் சென்டிமென்ட் ரோல்களில் நடித்து வந்த சாக்லேட் பாய் கௌதம் கார்த்திக்கிற்கு நன்றாக நடிக்க நல்ல வாய்ப்பு கொடுத்திருக்கிறது, 1947 திரைப்படம். எந்த இடத்திலும் மிகையாக இல்லாமல், அளவான நடிப்பை வெளிப்படுத்தி 'பத்து தல' படத்தில் வாங்கிய பெயரை காப்பாற்றியிருக்கிறார் கௌதம். இதேபோல நல்ல நல்ல கதைகளை தேர்ந்தெடுத்தால் இவருக்கென்று தனியாக ரசிகர் படை சேருவது உறுதி. ஹீரோவின் நண்பனாக குக் வித் கோமாளி புகழ். நாக்கு அறுபட்ட நிலையில் மக்களிடம் உண்மையை சொல்ல போராடும் இடத்தில் அப்ளாஸ் அள்ளுகிறார். படத்தின் நாயகி, ரேவதி தனது சாயலில் கீர்த்தி சுரேஷை நினைவு படுத்துகிறார். இவருக்கு இது முதல் படம் என்பது போல் தெரியவில்லை. அந்தளவிற்கு தேர்ந்த நடிப்பு. இவர்களை தவிர, படத்தில் இடம்பெற்றுள்ள அனைத்து நடிகர்களும் தங்களுக்கு கொடுத்த வேலையை கச்சிதமாக செய்து கொடுத்திருக்கின்றனர். 

காலத்தை கடக்க வைக்கும் திரைக்கதை:

1947ஆம் ஆண்டில் நடப்பதைப் போன்று அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள படத்தின் காட்சிகள், இந்தியா சுதந்திரம் வாங்கிய காலத்திற்கே நம்மை அழைத்துச் சென்று விடுகிறது."அடுத்து என்ன நடக்கும்?" என கேட்க வைக்கிறது படத்தின் முதல் பாதி, இரண்டாம் பாதியோ "அடுத்து இதுதான் நடக்கும்.." என யூகிக்க வைக்கிறது. 

இடைவேளைக்கு அடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள சில தேவையற்ற இழுவையான காட்சிகள்தான் அதற்கு காரணம். தொய்வான காட்சிகள் சில இடங்களில் இருப்பினும், படத்தின் மீதான ரசிகர்களின் கவனத்தை ஒரு துளி கூட சிதற விடாமல் காப்பாற்றியிருக்கிறார், இயக்குநர் என்.எஸ்.பொன்குமார். தனது முதல் படத்திலேயே 'நச்'சென நங்கூரம் போட்டுள்ள இவர், நிச்சயமாக கவனிக்கத்தக்க இயக்குநர்களின் பட்டியலில் சீக்கிரம் இடம் பெறுவார் என்பதில் சந்தேகமில்லை. மொத்தத்தில், ரசிகர்களை எந்த இடத்திலும் 'உச்' கொட்ட வைக்காமல் இறுதியில் நல்ல வரலாற்று பின்னணி கொண்ட கதை என பெயர் பெறுகிறது, ஆகஸ்டு 16 1947.
