3.  गुरु नानक जयंती कार्तिक पूर्णिमा के दिन श्रद्धा और उल्लास के साथ मनाई जाती है। 

4. सिख समुदाय के लोगों के लिए ये दिन बेहद महत्वपूर्ण होता है।

5. गुरु नानक देव का जन्म 15 अप्रैल 1469 को पाकिस्तान के लाहौर के पास तलवंडी में हुआ था।

6.  गुरु नानक जयंती को गुरु पर्व और गुरुपूरब नाम से भी जाना जाता है जिसका अर्थ है  “ गुरुओं का उत्सव”।

7.  इस मौके पर कई जगह अवकाश घोषित होते हैं तो कुछ जगहों पर कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन भी होता है।

8. गुरुपर्व के  दिन  शबद कीर्तन व गुरुद्वारों में सेवा करने की बहुत ज्यादा अहमियत है।

ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਾਪ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਇਨਸਾਫ਼ੀ ਵਧੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸੰਤ-ਮਹਾਂਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ-ਗ਼ਲਤ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਸਮਝਾ ਕੇ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤੇ ‘ਤੇ ਚੱਲਣ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਅਜਿਹੇ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਤ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਨ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਮਾਰਗ ਸੁਝਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਫੈਲਾਇਆ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਉਤਸਵ ਜਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਵ ਜਾਂ ਗੁਰਪੁਰਬ ਵਜੋਂ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ, ਦਸ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਪਹਿਲੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 15 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ 1469 ਨੂੰ ਰਾਏਭੋਏ ਦੀ ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਜਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਸੇਖਪੁਰਾ (ਜੋ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ) ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਇਆ । ਜਦੋਂ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਬੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਫੈਲੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਘੱਟ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਛੋਟਾ ਜਾਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਦਿਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਗੁਰਪੁਰਬ ਵਜੋਂ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਗੁਰਪੁਰਬ  ਤੋਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅਖੰਡ ਪਾਠ ਆਰੰਭ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਵਨ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ‘ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ’ ਦਾ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਪਾਠ ਨਿਰਵਿਘਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲੋਕੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮੁੱਖ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਸ਼ੋਭਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤਖ਼ਤ ‘ਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪੂਰੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ, ਪੰਜ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦਗੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਅੱਗੇ ਚਲਦੇ ਹਨ । ਪੂਰੀ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂਆਂ ਗਰੁਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ, ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਵਾਪਿਸ ਪਰਤ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਲੋਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਪੁਰਬ ਦੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਲੰਗਰ ਲਈ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ.
