Hello movie review: Akhil Akkineni and Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer leave us with a heart full of good feelings

Filmmaker Vikram Kumar is a believer in destiny. And it has a heavy influence on his movies as well. Whether he writes a sci-fi film like 24 or family drama like Manam. Life changing events just happen in Vikram’s films by chance. Even the most powerful Vikram’s characters don’t have control over the outcomes of their own actions.

A street kid meets his soulmate at a panipuri joint in a park in Hyderabad . The little boy and girl plan to build a fairytale but one day they part ways. A kid gets into an accident and finds a family. In another accident, a mother’s yearning is fulfilled. Robbing one guy of his phone makes a gangster poorer by Rs 3 crore. And one morning a wrong call from a cab driver breathes a new lease of life into a love story that was on the verge of extinction. These things just happen like magic in Vikram’s creation.

A young Seenu, a street kid, befriends Junnu, a girl from a wealthy family. One day, Junnu’s parents take her away from Seenu as her father gets transferred to Delhi. She writes a number on a 100 rupee note and throws out of her car window for Seenu to pick up. (Yes, we can see a little influence of Serendipity here). But, Seenu gets robbed and loses his only way to reach Junnu.

In an accident, Seenu gets adopted by a rich couple Saroja and Prakash (Ramya Krishna and Jagapati Babu) and grows up as Avinash (Akhil Akkineni). But, he is still going to the same traffic junction where he used to meet his Junnu every day before destiny drew them apart.

Junnu’s father again gets transferred and this time to the United States. Junnu, whose real name is Priya (Kalyani Priyadarshan), is still in love with the street kid she met over 14 years ago and she makes the last ditch effort to find him by going to Hyderabad on the pretext of attending a friend’s wedding.

The theme and the premise of Hello is not something unheard of. But, the way Vikram has handled them, makes this larger-than-life romantic flick strike a chord. The film is filled with many feel-good moments and heartfelt performances from the main star cast. Especially, Ramya Krishna and Jagapati Babu shine in the scenes they are present in.

It was refreshing to see Jagapathi have a meaningful role in a film after a long time. He had seemingly resigned to his fate of being just a filler in movies. We also get to see Ramya explaining to her son about what ‘I hate you’ really means when it is told to someone who we love. And small moments like this keep playing out while making us feel and smile over and over again.

Akhil scores big points in action sequences, which have been beautifully embedded in the narration. And Kalyani, (Oh boy! she can act) with her delicate performance in expressing her conflict between her new attraction and her commitment to her soulmate, who she met as a young kid. It is her acting debut and it doesn’t feel like it.

Hello embraces the serendipity of all the things that make the lives of characters beautiful eventually. And in the end, leaves us with a heart full of good feelings.

One of the most beloved, most destructive and greatest opening batsmen of his era, Virender Sehwag was part of the Indian cricket team that won the inaugural ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007. Sehwag recently recalled partying with Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan, who must have been 9 at that time, after the World Cup win and how he kept the latter entertained, impressing Bollywood’s Baadshah.

Hello! is a 2017 Telugu-language romantic action film from Annapurna Studios, produced by Akkineni Nagarjuna and directed by Vikram Kumar. Starring in the movie are Jagapati Babu, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Akhil Akkineni, and Ramya Krishnan. This is Kalyani Priyadarshan’s first feature film. Anup Rubens is the composer of the music. The release date of Hello was December 22, 2017.

A young orphan named Seenu meets Junnu, and the two of them instantly become friends. Junnu’s eccentricity fascinates Seenu, and when Seenu composes an original song, Junnu is moved. However, when Junnu’s father gets transferred to Delhi, their friendship is suddenly shattered. Prior to their departure, Junnu pens her phone number on a ₹100 note and hands it to Seenu; however, Pandu, a thief, takes the note. When Seenu pursues the thief, Sarojini’s car strikes him. After Seenu survives the accident, Sarojini and her husband Prakash adopt him, keeping their word to do something nice for him.

After 14 years, Junnu is now called Priya and Seenu is now known as Avinash. Despite leading luxurious lives, they are lonely without one another. Avinash, on a whim, calls a cab driver who mentions a music festival and discovers Junnu’s whereabouts. But before he can get in touch with Junnu, Avinash’s phone is stolen by Pandu, who is now a street thug. With the intention of making amends, Avinash sets out to find the stolen phone.

When Priya finds out that her father is being transferred to the US, she is depressed in Delhi and yearns to see Seenu. Priya chooses to attend her close friend Kavita’s wedding in Hyderabad and look for Seenu before departing for the US. Avinash sees Junnu or Priya while picking up his mother from the airport, but he doesn’t realise who she is. When Priya gives ₹100 to street children, they become friends. He is invited to Kavita’s wedding by Priya. Priya flees the wedding after being overcome with Seenu’s memories. Avinash follows her and unintentionally breaks the sentimental bangle that Seenu gave her.

After Avinash defeats the phone mafia and gets his phone back, he finds out that Junnu is attending the Hyderabad Music Festival. At the festival, Avinash meets Priya. After they reconcile and give each other a new bangle, Avinash departs in search of Junnu. Avinash, who is determined to find Junnu, goes to a music stand and begins to play the song they wrote together when they were kids. Priya hears the song and goes after him like crazy, but she can’t find him. While Priya is attempting to find the tune player at the festival, she keeps cutting the call when Avinash finds the ₹100 note with Junnu’s phone number on it.Priya runs around trying to find the musician after Avinash plays the song one last time. Avinash is overwhelmed by Priya’s desperate look and says, “Junnu,” to which she responds softly with a “yes” sign and they give each other a passionate embrace.
