The only version of PowerPoint that allows users to create embed code is PowerPoint for the Web .

Historically, consumers were able to save a presentation as a video and embed it onto a website. But it wasn't the same as allowing readers to click through the slides, and download if needed. Microsoft heard from their clients and added the ability to embed the web application into the latest iteration of PowerPoint (for Web). With that said, let's check out this feature from Microsoft!

Let's get started Embedding!

Now that you've seen what a PowerPoint looks like once embedded, let's get into the process of completing the task at hand.

Begin by opening the PowerPoint 365 Web Application (link here !)   Note* You may need to sign into your Microsoft Office account before you start.

After the site is open, select the presentation you'd like to embed into your website if already uploaded (or start from scratch).

If you haven't uploaded your presentation to PowerPoint for the web, choose the upload option.

Okay, once you've upload or selected your PowerPoint file it will load into the PowerPoint web application.

Next, click "File" from the upper left corner of PowerPoint and select "Share" from the options on the left side.

Then, select "Embed" from the two option on the right.

The default embed code in my PowerPoint is 476 x 288.  As a rule, 610 x 367 will fit on most websites comfortably, but if you want your viewer to have a full-screen experience, then 1186 x 691 dimensions would be preferable.  However, this option is customizable, so you can choose any size you desire.

Copy the Embed Code and paste it into the body of your website or blog.

Last, but not least, be sure to save the code in your site or blog, and voila! You've successfully embedded a PowerPoint presentation into your website.

To recap: How to embed a PowerPoint presentation into a website includes 4 simple steps:

Open your presentation in Office 365's version of PowerPoint

Click File > Share > Embed

Copy the embed code

Paste the embed code to your website.

Thanks so much for checking out this tutorial! Let us know if you have any burning questions about PowerPoint or Office 365!

Embed PowerPoint in WordPress

How to Embed PowerPoint in WordPress (3 Different Methods, Explored!)

PowerPoint presentations offer a great way to communicate structured information to your viewership. And if you’re thinking about sharing them on your site to recap presentations that you’ve delivered, propose new product ideas to clients, offer how-to guides, or communicate your product’s features, then you’re going to need to find a way to embed them in your website.

Thankfully, there are a few different ways you can go about embedding PowerPoint presentations in WordPress such as uploading them directly from your drive or from a third-party service. With this in mind, in this post, we’ll show you how you can embed PowerPoint in WordPress in three different ways by offering step-by-step instructions and recommending useful plugins and tools along the way.

Let’s get started!

Why Would I Want to Embed PowerPoint Into WordPress?

Presentations are visually appealing and incredibly easy to understand. They allow you to offer something other than the same old blog post while still making sure you’re able to cover the topic.

Inspire, inform, and educate your viewership by embedding #PowerPoint presentations in #WordPress.

What’s even better is that you’re presenting the information in a structured way that’s easy to digest. Aside from this, here are a few more reasons why you might want to consider embedding PowerPoint into WordPress:

  • Good for SEO . Presentation slides contain keywords and phrases that are connected to your business niche. The most important factor contributing to the document’s ranking is its title because it appears in the URL of the uploaded document. You can embed and tag the document to get maximum SEO benefits from the slides that you want to embed in your site.
  • Improves readability . Presentations are uncluttered and to the point. This significantly improves the readability of your content for the viewer. And if you plan on using a single page for each slide, then this will definitely improve the overall readability of the entire presentation.
  • Increases conversion rates . You can increase your conversion rates by making your presentations more engaging. PowerPoint presentations also allow you to implement online marketing strategies such as backlinks and high-converting landing pages. In addition to this, embedding a PowerPoint on your WordPress site helps retain customers. As an added benefit, the bounce rate of your site will also decrease.

Before you can reap the benefits of having presentations on your website, let’s take a look at how you can embed PowerPoint presentations in WordPress.

How Do I Embed PowerPoint Presentations in WordPress?

Embedding PowerPoint presentations in WordPress manually is pretty simple. However, by using some helpful plugins you can make it even simpler, have better control over its display, and be able to manage your uploads. In this section, we’ll walk you through three different ways of embedding PowerPoint presentations in WordPress.

Method 1: Embedding PowerPoint From Your Drive to WordPress

If you’d like to host your presentations on your website’s server, then you have the option of directly embedding them into your WordPress website from your computer’s drive. This option is great for organizations and individuals who upload presentations once in a while.

Embed Any Document

To get started, login to your WordPress website and head over to Plugins > Add New . From there, search for the  Embed Any Document plugin. Once you’ve found it, install and activate it .

Install button

Next, open up the page (or post) in which you want to embed the PowerPoint presentation. For the purpose of this tutorial, we’ll demonstrate by embedding a PowerPoint presentation to a WordPress page. You should see an Add Document button next to the Add Media button in the editor screen.

Add Document button

When you click on the Add Document button, a pop-up will appear on your screen prompting you to choose your upload method. From there, click on the Upload Document option and upload your PowerPoint using the WordPress uploader.

Upload Document button

Once the PowerPoint is uploaded to your website’s back-end, you’ll see a pop-up on your screen that lets you review and modify your presentation’s display settings and generates a shortcode accordingly.

Add Document screen

After you’ve reviewed the settings, click the Insert button to add the shortcode to your page. That’s it! When you preview the page, it should look something like this:

Preview

Method 2: Embedding PowerPoint From SlideShare to WordPress

SlideShare is like the YouTube for presentations. This third-party service allows you to upload PowerPoint presentations to its server and share them on your WordPress site. Organizations that publish tons of presentations regularly can use SlideShare to host their files instead of uploading them to their own website.

SlideShare

To get started, log into your SlideShare account and find the PowerPoint presentation you want to embed in your WordPress website. Copy its URL from the browser’s address bar.

SlideShare URL

Next, log into your WordPress website and head over to the page (or post) in which you want to embed the PowerPoint presentation. For the purpose of this tutorial, we’ll demonstrate by embedding the presentation in a WordPress post. From there, click on the Text tab and paste the URL link in the post.

WordPress HTML editor

Save the post as a Draft and preview it. It should look something like this:

SlideShare preview

Method 3: Embedding PowerPoint From Google Slides to WordPress

Embedding a PowerPoint presentation from Google Slides to WordPress is super easy. All you have to do is copy-paste a code snippet in the HTML text editor of your post (or page). Here’s how:

Open up the Google Slides that you want to embed in your WordPress post (or page) and head over to File > Publish to the web… .

Publish to the web menu item

From the Publish to the web pop-up screen, click on the Embed tab and configure the presentation’s display settings. Once you’re done, click on the Publish button.

Publish button

A text area containing some code will appear on the pop-up screen. Copy the code snippet to your clipboard.

Finally, save the post (or page) as a Draft and preview it. It should look something like this:

PowerPoint presentations bring structure to your content and give it some life. And sharing these presentations through your WordPress website can bring more traffic to your site and help you deliver more value through it. We showed you three different ways to embed PowerPoint presentations in WordPress and the method you decide to go with depends on certain factors.

Let’s quickly recap the main options at your disposal:

  • If you create PowerPoint presentations on your computer, then you can embed them to your WordPress site using the Embed Any Document plugin.
  • Those of you who create tons of presentations might want to host them on a third-party service (like SlideShare ) and embed them to WordPress from there.
  • And if you prefer Google Slides for creating your online presentations, then you can manually embed them to your WordPress post (or page) in a few simple steps.

How to Embed PowerPoint Into a WordPress Page or Post

One of the easiest ways to give your content some structure and visual appeal is to present it as a PowerPoint on your website. And as an added benefit, PowerPoint presentations are good for search engine optimization and help improve your site’s readability.

The good news is that WordPress makes it incredibly easy for users to embed presentations into their websites – both manually and by using a plugin solution.

With this in mind, in this post, we’ll show you how to embed three different kinds of PowerPoint presentations – from your drive, Google Slides , and SlideShare – into a WordPress page (or post) and publish them for your site’s viewership.

How to Embed a PowerPoint in WordPress

how to embed Powerpoint presentation on wordpress site

Before you move on to embedding presentations on your website it’s important to decide where you’d like to host them. Those of you who upload presentations once in a while might want to host them directly on your website. On the other hand, if you have a ton of presentations that need to be embedded on your site then it may be a better idea to host them on a third-party server (such as Google Slides or SlideShare ).

In this section, we’ll step through three different ways you can go about embedding PowerPoint presentations into your WordPress website. We’ll demonstrate by embedding the presentations in WordPress pages though you can follow the same steps to embed them into WordPress posts, as well.

Option #1: Embedding Presentations From Your Drive

One of the best things about WordPress is that you can install a plugin to do just about anything. And although you could embed PowerPoint presentations in WordPress pages (or posts) manually, using a plugin will help you keep track of uploads and customizations better.

Here’s how you can embed PowerPoint presentations from your drive to your WordPress website:

1 embed any document

Login to your website’s admin panel and navigate to Plugins > Add New . Next, search for the Embed Any Document plugin and install and activate it to your site.

2 install plugin

Once the plugin is activated, head over to the page (or post) where you’d like to embed the PowerPoint presentation. In the Edit Page screen, you should see an Add Document button right above the text editor.

3 add document

Click on the Add Document button to begin uploading your PowerPoint presentation from your computer’s drive using the Media Library .

4 upload document

After the PowerPoint file is done uploading you’ll see some Advanced Options on the pop-up screen prompting you to customize the presentation’s display settings. Once you’ve configured the settings, click the Insert button to continue.

5 advanced options

You’ll notice that a shortcode for the PowerPoint presentation is added to your text editor. Here’s what it should look like on the front-end:

6 powerpoint preview

This method is best for website owners who intend on uploading PowerPoint presentations once every so often since the presentations will be hosted on your website’s server.

Option #2: Embedding Presentations From Google Slides

If you’d like to host your presentation on Google Slides and embed it to your website from there then here’s how you can get started:

Start off by logging into your Google Drive account and locating the presentation you want to embed. Once you have it opened up, navigate to File > Publish to the web… .

7 publish web

Next, click on the Embed tab in the pop-up screen and set your presentation’s Slide size and Auto-advance slides settings. Click on the Publish button to proceed.

8 embed settings

Copy the code snippet that appears in the text box to your clipboard; we’ll add this to our site’s HTML text editor to embed the Google Slides presentation.

9 code snippet

Finally, log in to your WordPress website’s admin panel and open up the page (or post) where you’d like to embed the presentation. From the Edit Page screen, navigate to the page’s HTML text editor and paste the Google Slides’ code snippet in it. It should look something like this on your website’s front-end:

10 google slides preview

If you find yourself creating PowerPoint presentations in your Google Drive then this method is ideal for you. In addition to this, the presentation will be hosted on your Google Drive account which means it won’t take up your site’s server space.

Option #3: Embedding Presentations From SlideShare

For those of you who don’t already know, SlideShare is a third-party slide hosting service that allows users to embed presentations on other websites.

11 slideshare

To begin embedding your SlideShare-hosted presentation on your WordPress website, log in to your SlideShare account and open up the PowerPoint presentation you want to embed.

Once you have it open, copy its URL to your clipboard – we’ll use the presentation’s URL to embed it to our WordPress website.

12 slideshare url

Next, log in to your WordPress website’s admin panel and open up the page (or post) where you’d like to embed the presentation. Finally, from the Edit Page screen, toggle to the page’s HTML text editor and paste the SlideShare presentation’s URL link in it. If all things go well, it should look something like this on the front-end:

13 slideshare preview

Regardless of which tool you use to create your PowerPoint presentations, SlideShare allows you to host them through their servers. And for this reason, going with this method is ideal for users who need to upload presentations regularly to their website.

Embedding PowerPoint presentations into your WordPress website allows you to deliver great user experience while allowing you to retain traffic (and maybe even get some more page views!). We encourage you to try it out on your own and see which method works best for you.

Let’s go over the different ways you can embed PowerPoint presentations into your WordPress website’s pages (or posts):

  • If you have a handful of presentations that you need to upload then you’re better off embedding them directly into your site using the Embed Any Document
  • Those of you who will be embedding tons of presentations into your WordPress website should consider opting for a third-party slide hosting service such as Google Slides or SlideShare instead of embedding them directly through the Media Library.

embed powerpoint presentation in website

Thank you Charles, for this post. My PowerPoint presentation has animations and users can only progress from slide to slide after doing all the activities on the slide. It is designed for children. Will those animations and navigations stay if it is embedded in a WordPress site? Can I incorporate my PP into a WordPress LMS? Can I add other quizzes from a WP LMS to the PP?

Hi, Charles. With a Powerpoint slideshow (ppsx) saved to SharePoint 365, I’m trying to open and get the embed code for adding it to a SharePoint site page. The goal is the presentation is embedded and the “click to advance” is disabled so that the viewer must click the hotspots on the slides to advance. (as mentioned above by another user) In my method, I open the PPSX file “in browser” window to get access to the Embed code, and then paste that into the HTML editor of my SharePoint page. The display is perfect, but you can click anywhere on the slide to advance. I have the option Advance Slide “On Mouse Click” disabled in the Transitions tab. So I don’t understand why it still does. Do you have any ideas? Thanks

charles

Hi Tim, I’m afraid I don’t have any good tips for this. We generally only deal with WordPress so I don’t know anything at all about Sharepoint.

Thanks for all the advice, Charles. I’m having trouble with option one. After following all the steps, everything appears successful…but at the very end, instead of an embedded PowerPoint, I see lines of code. Any idea on what might be going wrong?

Hi Robin, are you using the latest version of WordPress? Also are you embedding the shortcode generated into the post or page editor in wysiwyg mode or in the HTML edit mode? If you are not sure it would help if you can take a screenshot of the edit screen and share it online somewhere (maybe imgur.com) so I can take a look. Cheers.

Can we export web page to PPT in wordpress?? is thr any plugin available.

Hi Supriya, if I understand your question correctly, you want to turn web pages into PowerPoint slides. Is that correct?

I’m not aware of any plugin that would do that, and it would be a difficult thing to do reliably. There are plugins that will turn pages into PDF documents which might meet your requirements?

Is there anyway to prevent users from printing the presentations with any of these options? Thanks.

Hi Brian, I’m not familiar with such a feature on any of these tools so I don’t think so. If you find I’m wrong about that please let us know! I would add that even if you disable right mouse clicks a user can always screenshot a slide so in any event I don’t think there are any sure fire ways to stop anyone printing or saving a slide if they really want to.

Thanks Charles, i’m a newbie, can i embed powerpoint for email ?

Hi Adestro, you can attached a powerpoint to an email of course, but no you can’t embed a powerpoint presentation in an email.

Thanks Charles . Quiet a useful post .

i have tried all the three solutions and yes they work out of the box. However my problem is that i need to show the powerpoint presentation along with the notes in slides and embed them in wordpress. I am not sure if there is any solution for that or plugin which allows to provide navigation as Slide share along with showing the notes for each slide ? have you come across this or have any ideas?

Hi Fabulist, no I havn’t seen a plugin or hosted solution that allows for the notes as well. Could you add the notes as part of a post?

Thank you , you saved my time lot . I integrate the ppt template by following your tutorial.

nice information

I’m trying to do something like this on my WordPress site but taking it a step more and need some advice. Im curently using powerpoint but having to stop it and and slides several times a day, and then go back into WordPress and start it running again. Is there a easy way to point WordPress to something that would update itself after I change it? Like if I log in and and two png files they would automatic be into rotation and word press would never have to be changed? Sorry if this is confusing, I just recently have been put over keeping this up.

Hi Bo, thanks for reaching out. I’m not quite sure what you mean by “having to stop it [PPT] and slides several times a day, and then go back into WordPress and start it running again.” – can you expand on this?

Based on what I do understand of your use case it sounds like you could try using Google Slides. You can then embed your Google Slide deck and then any time you made updates to that slide deck it will automatically be reflected on your site. This would be a departure from using Powerpoint which you are probably familiar with, but Google Slides isn’t too different and you can create a Google Slide Deck by uploading your PPT file as a starting point so you wouldn’t have to start from scratch.

did embed plug in. at upload the message came back that the file of slides was too big for my site. will not load. please help.

Hi Kevin, seems like the upload limit for your installation is too small for your slide deck. Check out this video tutorial on how to increase the upload size https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K7Z3SzVAIo

I’ve use this plugin but I get an error on the embed piece, is there something I’m missing?

Hi Ron, what is the error you are getting?

Hi! I’m so stumped! I’m trying to embed a simple, small PowerPoint presentation into my WP site but I only want viewers to navigate through it using the action buttons on the slides so they see the slides in order, as it’s information pages followed by quizzes. How do I embed but disable all navigation but my buttons? Thank you!

Hi Shari, what method are you using to embed your presentation? It is hard to comment without knowing more specifics. Your description of what you want to achieve does also make me think that you could look at the various WordPress learning management system (LMS) plugins which have these kind of features, wherein you can provide training materials and quizzes which have to be progressed through in a specific order. Here’s a short list of popular LMS plugins I commented on another post, might be worth a look.

Thanks – converting from Powerpoint to Google Slides used to work. However, many of the images were not loading into Google Slides. I will try your Embed Anything plug-in.

Hi Susan, thanks for the heads up. Are you having trouble converting all PPT to Google Slides now?

Hello, I have created a page in power point that has several pictures with descriptions that link to a website. how can I upload them in a word press page. Also, I have not upgraded mu wordpress yet. should I upgrade it to be able to use pluggins.

Hi Ali, did you try the methods above to embed your PPT in your WordPress site?

And yes, you should always make sure that your installation of WordPress is up to date along with all your plugins. Updates often include security improvements so you want to make sure you update as soon as possible.

Hi Charles Thanks for this helpful post. Is it possible to embed a powerpoint presentation in a WordPress site that users can then click to navigate through?

I had same issues with Embed any Document plug in saying that my file was too large. Then on google drive there is no option for the user to click on the powerpoint to advance..

Finally, will video in the powerpoint play through google slides?

Hi Jehan, have you tried Slideshare? They can host your large PPT and provide an embed code with navigation to advance through the deck.

I just embeded a presentation on my site with Googleslides. thanks so much for this post. It was a really simple process. Can I make it downloadable and how?

Hi Faith, I don’t think this is possible with Google Slides. You may need to upload a PDF version of your deck and click to that to download.

Is there a file size limit to the powerpoint file? I tried your first method using the plug-in and I get the error as file too large. Or is this a wordpress limitation?

Hi Janet, I think this will be a limitation of your particular installation of WordPress. You can check the limitations by going to your media manager in the WP Admin, clicking on add-new and then seeing what is the file size limitation displayed on that page. You may be able to fix this by adding the following to the functions file…

If you are not familiar with the functions file though it is probably best not to mess around with it. In this case you can try a plugin like this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/upload-max-file-size/

I hope this helps.

Are slideshows downloadable from slide Share??

Yes, generally they are though the uploader can choose whether to make the slides downloadable.

I use slideshare way to embed the presentation. Now I am thinking to try Embed Any Document plugin as well.

How to Embed a PowerPoint Presentation in WordPress?

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

Last updated - July 8, 2021

PowerPoint presentations provide a great way to communicate structured information to your viewers. It’s so easy and simple to use. You can be as creative with your presentations as you like. Tons of free PowerPoint templates are available to make for an amazing presentation. Not to mention the user-friendly interface that displays all the tools to add effects, tables, graphs, and more.

Mind you… PowerPoint presentations are not ideal online content. But if you are planning on showing a summary of a presentation, share how-tos, or a simple presentation to show your products and services online, you will need to find a way to embed them to your website. Thankfully, there are a couple of ways on how you can embed PowerPoint presentations on WordPress.

Table of Contents

Method 1: From Google Slides to WordPress

Let’s start off with something easy. Embedding PowerPoint presentations on WordPress from Google Slides is very simple. What you need to do is to copy-paste a code snippet in the HTML text editor. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: First, open up the Google Slides presentation that you want to embed in your site.

Step 2: Click on File.

Step 3: Select Publish to the web.

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

Step 4: In the pop-screen, select the Embed tab. Then, configure the presentation’s settings. Once you’re done, click on Publish.

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

Step 5: Copy the code snippet in the text area.

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

Step 6: Then, log in to your WordPress website and open up a post. Check if this post is the one you want to embed the presentation to . Head over to WordPress’ HTML text editor and paste the code snippet of the presentation.

Now, you can either publish the post or save it as a draft and preview it. The presentation should appear in the post. This is how it should look like:

  • Publishing to web is very easy
  • Slides are stored in Google Drive
  • Can be accessed anywhere
  • Google Slides is internet-dependent
  • Pasting snippet code on WordPress can be a little complicated

Method 2: Through WordPress Plugin

Another way to embed PowerPoint presentations is through embedding it directly from your computer’s drive. This method is great if you only upload presentations on your site once in a while.

Step 1: First off, log in to your WordPress website and head over to Plugins > Add New . Then, search for Embed Any Document plugin and install it.

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

Step 2: Once the plugin is installed, go to the General Setting screen by heading over to Settings > Embed Any Document . The General Settings screen allows you to configure how the presentation will appear. Also, it lets you enable the download link as well as setting the download link’s text.

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

Step 3: On your WordPress site, select a post in which you want to embed a presentation. Click the Add Document button on the editor screen.

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

Step 4: After clicking the Add Document button, a pop-up box will appear prompting you to choose which upload method to use. In here, click on the Upload Document option. Then, using the WordPress uploader you can now upload your PowerPoint presentations.

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

Step 5: Now, your presentation is already uploaded in the back-end. You will then see a pop-up screen that lets you modify and review your presentation’s display settings. This also generates a shortcode.

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

Step 6: After you have reviewed everything, click on the Insert button to add the shortcode to your page. And that should embed the PowerPoint presentation to your site.

  • Presentations are stored in your own server
  • Perfect for frequent usage
  • Third-party installation is needed
  • Has file-size restrictions
  • Some PowerPoint effects aren’t preserved
  • Presentations take up the server space
  • It sometimes slows down the server

Method 3: Embedding from SlideShare to WordPress

Embedding PowerPoint presentations to WordPress can also be done by third-party service. SlideShare lets you upload presentations, infographics, documents, and videos to share with your website.

Users can upload PowerPoint, PDF, Word, or OpenDocument format files. Businesses or individuals that publish many presentations on their site use this – as uploading and sharing to WordPress sites is seamless.

Step 1: In your SlideShare account, select the presentation that you want to embed to your WordPress website. Select the URL in the address bar and copy it.

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

Step 2: On your WordPress website, select a page or post that you want to embed a presentation to. Select the Text tab on and paste the URL link in the post.

Next, you can publish the post or save it as a draft. If you click the Preview button , it should look something like this:

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

  • Presentations are stored in a cloud
  • SlideShare can be accessed anywhere as long as there’s a stable internet
  • Contents can be set either to private or public
  • An account in SlideShare is needed
  • Some effects won’t be preserved

Method 4: Upload presentation to YouTube

Having videos to watch on your website gives it an extra something. In fact, there are viewers who prefer to watch something than reading. So, if you want to embed PowerPoint presentations on your website, this is another way to do so.

Step 1: Export your PowerPoint presentation to a video. Head over to PowerPoint File > Export > Create a Video.

Embed PowerPoint Presentation WordPress

Set your presentation to the highest quality, YouTube will be the one to compress it. Also, if you don’t have any narrations on your presentation you don’t have to set anything for its settings. You can change the time of the duration that you want for each slide.

After setting everything, PowerPoint will then export a video file once you click Save .

Step 2: Upload the video file on YouTube.

embed powerpoint presentation in website

Step 3: Click the Share button of the video and copy the link provided.

embed powerpoint presentation in website

Step 4: Select the page or post that you want to embed the YouTube. Next, paste the link on the editor’s screen. You can publish or save it as a draft. Once you click Preview , you will see the YouTube video embedded in your post.

Unlike the other methods, embedding a PowerPoint presentation on WordPress through YouTube is easier as it does not require any third-party apps or services.

  • No third-party apps or services needed
  • No file-size restrictions
  • Can upload high-quality PowerPoint presentations
  • Videos are not interactive unlike a PowerPoint presentation
  • YouTube videos can be deleted without prior notice

PowerPoint has proven to be a very useful tool in conveying presentations. May it be for educational or business purposes. It gives structure to your content and extra life – with creative designs and fun tools. Hence, it is an amazing way to drive up traffic to your website. Each of the methods above has pros and cons. Assess them to know which suits you. Regardless of the method used, it seamlessly embeds your PowerPoint presentations to your website.

How to Embed a Live Website in PowerPoint

Wondering if it is possible to directly embed a website in PowerPoint? Well you’re in luck! Using a free PowerPoint add-in, you can add an internet browser to your PowerPoint. That’s right, a full functioning Google browser added to the bottom toolbar of your PowerPoint slide show that you can open anytime to surf the web. You can browse search results, open multiple windows, bookmark pages ahead of time, and pin sites to your home page!

No more pasting links and leaving PowerPoint for a separate internet window. Let’s take a look at how you can embed a live internet browser right into PowerPoint.

1. Download PowerPoint add-in, ClassPoint

To embed a website into Microsoft PowerPoint, you need to use a free add-in, ClassPoint . PowerPoint doesn’t offer an embedded website or web viewer, but this is where add-ins come in and why they are so great!

So the first step, is to simply download ClassPoint for free. Once you do that, you will gain a toolbar full of presentation tools that enhance audience engagement & your presentation delivery including the Embedded Browser .

2. Open Embedded Browser from the Toolbar in Slide show

embed powerpoint presentation in website

To access the embedded internet browser, enter presentation mode. Running across the bottom of your slides, you will find the ClassPoint toolbar. Find the Embedded Browser icon and click it to open Google! Now you can search, scroll, add tabs, and navigate the web just as you would on any internet browser!

3. Bookmark and Pin your favorite sites

embed powerpoint presentation in website

Just like your default internet browser, you can bookmark your favorite websites and pin them to the home search page for quick access!

If you are prepping for a presentation or lesson and plan on visiting a website during your presentation, go into slideshow mode, paste in your link into Google, bookmark it, and then pin it. Now your site will be ready to go in just a click when you open the Embedded Browser later!

4. Insert the webpage and annotate on it

If you find an image, graph, map, etc. on a webpage that you would like to elaborate on, you can actually insert as a slide image into your PowerPoint, and annotate on it!

Next to the address bar on the top right of the internet browser, you can click insert as slide, the page you are on will be added as a slide in your presentation. Examples of How Embedded Browser can be used During Presentations for Teachers

Teachers use the internet and educational websites in various ways during their lessons to enhance the learning experience for their students. Some common ways that teachers use the internet to present information during their lessons include:

1. Interactive simulations:

Some educational websites provide interactive simulations that allow students to explore and manipulate concepts in a hands-on way.

Example : A science teacher might use an interactive simulation from PhET Interactive Simulations to demonstrate how the properties of gases change as temperature and pressure are altered.

2. Infographics and data visualizations:

Many educational websites provide infographics and data visualizations to help students to better understand complex concepts or to see patterns in data.

Example : A history teacher might use an infographic from the National Archives to illustrate the causes and effects of a particular historical event.

3. Virtual field trips:

Websites such as Google Earth and Discovery Education provide virtual field trip experiences that allow students to explore and learn about different parts of the world without leaving the classroom.

Example : A social studies teacher might take their students on a virtual tour of historic sites or famous landmarks using Google Earth.

Educational websites such as YouTube and Khan Academy provide teachers with access to a wealth of instructional videos that they can use to introduce new concepts, reinforce ideas, or provide additional examples.

Example : A math teacher might use a video from Khan Academy to explain how to solve a particular type of equation.

5. Research:

Teachers can use the internet to find additional information, answers, or references about a topic they are teaching. If a debate needs settling, or a question is posed the internet, just like in daily life, is a great resource for lesson support.

Example : A debate arises or a question is posed during class that needs settling. The teacher can quickly open Google to search the class’s question.

6. Games and Interactive activities:

The internet provides various interactive activities such as quizzes & games that teachers can use to engage their students and make learning fun. Educational websites such as EdPuzzle or PBS Learning Media provide games and interactive activities that help students to practice and reinforce concepts they are learning in class.

Example : An English teacher might use a game from Funbrain to help students practice identifying different parts of speech.

With ClassPoint’s Embedded Browser, you can search and use the internet without leaving your presentation and breaking your flow! This convenient presentation tool can also impresses your audience. And for teachers, incorporating the types of resources above, can help make their lesson more engaging and interactive for your students!

And, if you haven’t heard of ClassPoint yet, check it out! It’s an audience engagement tool designed to improve the experience of teaching and the productivity of presenting with PowerPoint! In addition the the embedded browser, ClassPoint adds an array of tools including a random name picker , timer , and interactive audience response questions that turn your audience members into participants. ✨

How to Embed a Web Page in a PowerPoint Presentation

embed powerpoint presentation in website

Imagine you’re in the middle of your webinar or your presentation at a live event. You’ve intrigued your audience with some details, have their undivided attention, your story is about to reach its climax – a demo of your product, a proof of your concept, or any other valuable knowledge – and you click on the link to go to the website and… here comes an awkward moment: you switch off show mode, change from the Microsoft PowerPoint window to Chrome, then turn on slideshow mode again. When you look back at the audience, they’ve already lost interest.

To avoid such situations, you might want to embed a web page in your presentation. The iframe tag will help you display an HTML document in your slides.

What Is an iframe?

An iframe (inline frame) is an HTML element that loads another HTML page within the document. In other words, it puts another web page within the parent page. It is commonly used for embedded videos, advertisements, and interactive content, and can be a great enhancement for your presentation.

Four Simple Steps to Insert a Web Page

Questions about iframe and HTML can intimidate some people, but, frankly, there’s nothing to worry about. You don’t need to make any operations with an embed code or do any other tech things.

With the right PowerPoint add-in, you’ll manage to add an object in a couple of minutes. You’re just required to take 4 easy steps. Let us guide you through them.

  • Copy the URL (web address) of the web page you want to insert. If you don’t need the entire page, you can copy the URL of a specific element of the page.
  • Download the free trial of Spring Converter Pro . With this tool, you’ll be able to embed not only live navigable web pages, but also media: audio, YouTube videos, and a lot of other content objects from external resources – and preserve the original quality.
  • Open PowerPoint. Find the iSpring Converter Pro 11  tab and click on it. Then choose the Web Object button on the toolbar.

web object

Paste the copied URL in the open window. Now, check to see if the address that you entered is correct by clicking on the Preview button.

insert web object

By the way, you can show web pages even when an internet connection is not available. To do this, you need to download the desired web object to your computer, and then add the file by choosing Local path instead of Web address .

Local path

Note: if you want to put additional web pages on your PowerPoint slide, or if you want to combine the webpage with other content objects, you should choose the Custom size option.

Custom size

  • Now that you’ve embedded web objects in your slides, let’s play them back. In order to do this, you’ll need to convert your presentation to HTML5. iSpring Converter Pro will do this work for you.

Publish presentation

  • Choose HTML5 format in the Output Options menu.
  • Wait for the publishing process to complete and you’ll see a report window. Click on the View course button to learn if it looks the way you want it to.

View course

Congrats! You’ve successfully embedded a web page in your PowerPoint presentation. Moreover, you can now share your presentation online easily. Viewers can open it right in a web browser on their computers, tablets, and smartphones without any special tools, even if PowerPoint isn’t installed on their device.

By moving presentations online, you can also be sure that your content is protected from being copied or modified. iSpring Cam Pro provides an entire range of security settings, including watermark protection, password protection, and domain restriction.

Why Not a Screenshot?

We’ve already described an awkward real-life situation that you might find yourself in when using links in your presentation, but what about screenshots of websites? Sure, you can just make one and insert it into your presentation as an image with text and other elements displayed on the webpage. But this “technology” has some limitations.

  • S creenshots are static. If your website has animations that make the user experience cool and engaging, you’re going to lose all these in your presentation.
  • Screenshots are outdated. Depending on the website’s specifics, once you’ve made a screenshot, it may already be out of date and provide irrelevant information. Take the stock market as an example. Even a few minutes can make a huge difference. And what if you show your presentation to the public a few days, weeks, or even months after you’ve created it? Exactly.
  • Images are not interactive. If you need to show your audience how they can interact with your website, such as how and where they can find the data they’re interested in, a screenshot will be of no use.

So, yes, you can use screenshots of websites, but they will not help you enhance your presentation, and they might even become a burden if you show your presentation regularly and thus have to constantly update screenshots in order to stay up to date.

Embedding a web page in a presentation is fairly simple if you have the right app. iSpring Converter Pro is a perfect solution that helps its users enrich their presentations and keep them relevant and interactive. In this way, you can save time and effort that is otherwise spent with regular manual updating. You won’t have to disrupt the flow of your presentation in order to change from the PowerPoint tab to Google Chrome. You only need to follow our guide, and you’ll get a constantly up-to-date presentation that you can convert to online formats that display perfectly on any device. Start with the  iSpring Converter Pro free trial and see how handy and engaging it is to have live web pages in your presentations.

embed powerpoint presentation in website

Do you get tired of having to switch back and forth between websites and your PowerPoint slideshow during a lecture? Do you wish it were possible to add that website right to your slideshow?

Well, it turns out you can!

For newer versions of PowerPoint (2013, 2016, Mac), you can download the Web Viewer add-in and place web pages right into a slide within your slideshow.

Note : this add-in only works with secure websites (those beginning with HTTPS) for security reasons.

To install the Web Viewer Add-In

  • Open PowerPoint.
  • Click the Insert tab.
  • In the Add-ins section, click My Add-ins.
  • In the Office Add-ins window, click Store.
  • In the Search box, type Web Viewer.

This will add the Web Viewer add-in to your PowerPoint allowing you to insert web pages into any slide within your slideshows.

To Embed a Web Page into a Slide

  • Click New Slide.
  • Select Web Viewer.
  • Click Insert.
  • Type or paste (CTRL+V) the URL of the website/page you wish to embed.
  • Be sure to delete https://  from the URL since it’s already added by default.
  • Click Preview to view the page.
  • Adjust the size to your liking.

But what if the website you want to add isn’t “secure” (doesn’t include the “s” after “http”)?

embed powerpoint presentation in website

Sometimes, Web Viewer doesn’t do exactly what you want since it only works for secure web content. When you need to add a public web page, you can use another add-in called LiveSlides.

LiveSlides works the same way Web Viewer does but offers a little more flexibility.

How to add live web pages to a powerpoint presentation.

Have you ever wanted to demonstrate a live website during a PowerPoint presentation? Here's how you can insert a live webpage into a PowerPoint prese

Have you ever wanted to demonstrate a live website during a PowerPoint presentation?  Here's how you can insert a live webpage into a PowerPoint presentation so you can show the exact content you're talking about.

No matter what you're giving a presentation about, sometimes it can be useful to show your audience information from the internet.  You could always create a screenshot of the webpage you're demonstrating, but chances are the screenshot may be out of date by the time you give your presentation.

A better solution is to use live information from the web in your presentation.  By default, PowerPoint doesn't support inserting a live web page, but you can easily do this with the LiveWeb add-in.

Head to the LiveWeb website (link below), and download the correct version for your version of PowerPoint.  We selected the 2007/2010 version in this test.

Once it's downloaded, extract the files as normal.

Now, in PowerPoint, open the Options window.  In PowerPoint 2010, you can do this by clicking the File button and selecting Options; in PowerPoint 2007, click the Office orb and select Options.

Select Add-Ins on the left side, then select PowerPoint Add-ins from the Manage menu, and click Go.

This will open the PowerPoint Add-ins window.  Click Add New to add the LiveWeb addin we downloaded previously.

Browse to the folder where you extracted the LiveWeb addin, and select it.

PowerPoint may warn you that the addon contains a macro.  Click Enable Macros to continue.

Now you should see LiveWeb listed in the Add-Ins window, and you're ready to add a live webpage to your PowerPoint presentation.

Using LiveWeb in PowerPoint

Now that LiveWeb is installed, you're ready to insert live internet data in your presentations.  From the Insert tab, select Web Page from the LiveWeb section.

This will open a quick Wizard interface that will help you insert a webpage into your presentation.

Enter the website you'd like to visit in the first line, then click the Add button.  Make sure to include http:// in front of the website address.  Once you've added the website you wish to visit, click Next.

LiveWeb will automatically refresh the web page, but if you want you can uncheck the box.  Click Next to continue.

Now choose how much of the slide you want the webpage to cover, and select where you want to position the page.  You can always change this later if you like.

Once it's finished, click Finish to return back to PowerPoint.

LiveWeb will let you know it successfully added the web page to your slide.

You'll now see a Windows 98-style logo in your slide, showing where your live webpage will be located.

Feel free to resize or move the webpage section in your slide however you want.

To view the actual web content, you'll need to start a slideshow.  Click the slideshow button at the bottom of the window to switch quickly.

Now you'll see a live webpage loaded right inside your PowerPoint presentation.  You can markup the slide as you would any other with PowerPoint tools, or you can interact with the website just as you would in a browser.

If you need to change your webpage, click the Edit Page Property button on the Insert tab.

Enter the new website address you want, and finish as before.

You can also add multiple web pages to a presentation if you'd like.  You could even make a webpage comparison like we did with screenshots in our first slide.  Only difference here is, the web pages are both live, and you could demonstrate how to use them to your audience.

When you save your presentation, you'll need to save it as a Macro-enabled presentation in .pptm format to preserve the web data.  Note that you'll be able to view the presentation on another computer only if it has the LiveWeb addon installed.  Since it's a free addon, you could keep a copy of it on your flash drive so you could easily install it if you need to show your presentation on another computer.

Whether you're trying to teach a class about computer usage or demonstrate your new website for your company's board members, the LiveWeb addin makes it easy to incorporate live web pages in your presentations.  There are many ways you could use this, so let us know how you use live web pages in your presentations to make information come alive!

If you'd like to use live web data in other Office applications, here's how you can Use Online Data in Excel 2010 Spreadsheets .

How to Include a Website in PowerPoint Presentation

embed powerpoint presentation in website

Including a live website in your PowerPoint presentation can be a great way to showcase additional information, keep content up-to-date, and allow your audience to interact with online content. However, PowerPoint does not have a built-in feature to embed websites directly into slides. In this article, we will explore several methods to include a website in your PowerPoint presentation.

Use Hyperlinks

The easiest way to include a website in PowerPoint is by adding a hyperlink. This allows you to link text or images to a URL that opens when clicked in the presentation.

To add a hyperlink:

  • Select the text or object you want to be clickable
  • Go to Insert > Hyperlink
  • Paste the URL of the website into the address field
  • Customize link text and screen tip as desired

This will make the selected item clickable, opening the linked website in the user’s default browser when clicked in the presentation.

While simple, hyperlinks do force users to leave the presentation. The next methods allow embedding web content directly into slides.

Use the PowerPoint Web Viewer Add-in

The PowerPoint Web Viewer is a free add-in from Microsoft that allows embedding web pages in slides.

  • Download and install the PowerPoint Web Viewer Add-in
  • On a slide, go to Insert > My Add-ins > Web Viewer > Insert
  • Paste the website URL and insert
  • Resize and position the web viewer object as needed

The Web Viewer works well for secure web pages and content you want to display directly in the slideshow. However, it only refreshes content when the slide is shown again, so highly dynamic websites may not update immediately.

Use LiveSlides

For adding dynamic websites that need to refresh live, LiveSlides is an excellent PowerPoint add-in.

To use LiveSlides:

  • Download and install the LiveSlides add-in
  • On a slide, select the LiveSlides tab > Insert Web View
  • Paste the URL and insert the website
  • Position and size the object as desired

LiveSlides uses an iframe to display web content directly in slides, refreshing every few seconds to show updated content in real-time. This is perfect for websites that change frequently like dashboards, data visualizations, or live reports.

Convert Presentation to Video

If you don’t need audience interaction, converting your presentation to a video allows easily embedding web content:

  • Record your presentation with a voiceover and slide timings
  • Insert screenshots or screen recordings of websites when needed
  • Export the presentation to video
  • Insert the produced video into slides

This approach allows precise control over what website content is shown and when. Use screen recording software like Screencast-O-Matic to capture website screenshots and video.

Build Custom Interactions with Office Add-ins

For advanced interactivity, PowerPoint Office Add-ins like PowerPointLabs allow programmers to build custom interactions between slides and websites using JavaScript and XML.

For example, the PowerPointLabs Simulate Web Browsing tool lets you trigger websites to open or navigate to specific URLs based on user clicks in the presentation.

While complex, Office Add-ins open up many possibilities for connecting PowerPoint with web content.

Adding a live website into PowerPoint provides useful context and interactivity to presentations. While PowerPoint doesn’t have native support for embedding webpages, the options covered in this article should cover most use cases. Choose the right method based on your content and technical needs. Properly integrated web content can make for more engaging, informative presentations.

How to Embed HTML in PowerPoint

Cover for How to Embed HTML in PowerPoint

Embedding an HTML file in PowerPoint can enable directly opening the file during a PowerPoint presentation. While PowerPoint is not a web browser with limitations regarding such files, you can embed HTML in PowerPoint.

How to Embed HTML into PowerPoint

To add embed code in PowerPoint, you can simply add it to a textbox. You might also want to see which PowerPoint templates or Google Slides templates to use with PowerPoint to make your code prominently visible. However, to embed an HTML file, it needs to be added as an object.

HTML files can be embedded as objects in PowerPoint via Insert -> Text -> Object .

Insert an object in PowerPoint

From the dialog box, select a file and browse to select the HTML file. You can choose to display the file as an icon by checking the Display as Icon option. Check the Link option if you want the linked file to be updated with the latest version. This will help ensure that changes made to the HTML file are reflected when you open it.

Embed HTML in PowerPoint as a link

How to Open Embedded HTML File in Normal Mode

The HTML file added to PowerPoint can be opened by clicking Normal mode.

Open embedded HTML file in normal mode (On Click)

How to Open Embedded HTML File in Slide Show Mode

Once the HTML object is added, you will require hyperlinking it to ensure it opens in Slide Show mode. Select the HTML object embedded in your slide and go to Insert Link via the Insert tab.

Add hyperlink to object in PowerPoint

Browse to select the HTML file to hyperlink it to the embedded HTML object in your slide.

Hyperlink to file in PowerPoint

Hyperlinking the HTML file will make it clickable in Slide Show mode.

Open HTML in slideshow mode

Final Words

If you link to an HTML file, your PowerPoint file will refer to the linked file, whereas not linking it will embed your PowerPoint presentation. Hence, if you want to embed an HTML file in your slide, you shouldn’t link your file. To ensure the file can open in Slide Show mode, it will require a hyperlink to become clickable directly during a Live presentation session. Otherwise, you must exit Slide Show mode to launch the file.

Hello Ortega_389,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

I understand that the issue you are experiencing with the PowerPoint file is frustrating. Based on your description, the file appears to be corrupted, and there may not be a straightforward solution to recover it. I would also like to confirm two questions with you:

Are you unable to open only a single file or all PowerPoint files?

Is the location of your opened file local or in the cloud ?

If it is a locally saved file that cannot be opened and you have not made any backups, given that none of the methods you have tried have worked, contacting a professional data recovery service may be your best option, and I hope your issue can be resolved.

Best Regards,

How To Get Free Access To Microsoft PowerPoint

E very time you need to present an overview of a plan or a report to a whole room of people, chances are you turn to Microsoft PowerPoint. And who doesn't? It's popular for its wide array of features that make creating effective presentations a walk in the park. PowerPoint comes with a host of keyboard shortcuts for easy navigation, subtitles and video recordings for your audience's benefit, and a variety of transitions, animations, and designs for better engagement.

But with these nifty features comes a hefty price tag. At the moment, the personal plan — which includes other Office apps — is at $69.99 a year. This might be the most budget-friendly option, especially if you plan to use the other Microsoft Office apps, too. Unfortunately, you can't buy PowerPoint alone, but there are a few workarounds you can use to get access to PowerPoint at no cost to you at all.

Read more: The 20 Best Mac Apps That Will Improve Your Apple Experience

Method #1: Sign Up For A Free Microsoft Account On The Office Website

Microsoft offers a web-based version of PowerPoint completely free of charge to all users. Here's how you can access it:

  • Visit the Microsoft 365 page .
  • If you already have a free account with Microsoft, click Sign in. Otherwise, press "Sign up for the free version of Microsoft 365" to create a new account at no cost.
  • On the Office home page, select PowerPoint from the side panel on the left.
  • Click on "Blank presentation" to create your presentation from scratch, or pick your preferred free PowerPoint template from the options at the top (there's also a host of editable templates you can find on the Microsoft 365 Create site ).
  • Create your presentation as normal. Your edits will be saved automatically to your Microsoft OneDrive as long as you're connected to the internet.

It's important to keep in mind, though, that while you're free to use this web version of PowerPoint to create your slides and edit templates, there are certain features it doesn't have that you can find on the paid version. For instance, you can access only a handful of font styles and stock elements like images, videos, icons, and stickers. Designer is also available for use on up to three presentations per month only (it's unlimited for premium subscribers). When presenting, you won't find the Present Live and Always Use Subtitles options present in the paid plans. The biggest caveat of the free version is that it won't get any newly released features, unlike its premium counterparts.

Method #2: Install Microsoft 365 (Office) To Your Windows

Don't fancy working on your presentation in a browser? If you have a Windows computer with the Office 365 apps pre-installed or downloaded from a previous Office 365 trial, you can use the Microsoft 365 (Office) app instead. Unlike the individual Microsoft apps that you need to buy from the Microsoft Store, this one is free to download and use. Here's how to get free PowerPoint on the Microsoft 365 (Office) app:

  • Search for Microsoft 365 (Office) on the Microsoft Store app.
  • Install and open it.
  • Sign in with your Microsoft account. Alternatively, press "Create free account" if you don't have one yet.
  • Click on Create on the left side panel.
  • Select Presentation.
  • In the PowerPoint window that opens, log in using your account.
  • Press Accept on the "Free 5-day pass" section. This lets you use PowerPoint (and Word and Excel) for five days — free of charge and without having to input any payment information.
  • Create your presentation as usual. As you're using the desktop version, you can access the full features of PowerPoint, including the ability to present in Teams, export the presentation as a video file, translate the slides' content to a different language, and even work offline.

The only downside of this method is the time limit. Once the five days are up, you can no longer open the PowerPoint desktop app. However, all your files will still be accessible to you. If you saved them to OneDrive, you can continue editing them on the web app. If you saved them to your computer, you can upload them to OneDrive and edit them from there.

Method #3: Download The Microsoft PowerPoint App On Your Android Or iOS Device

If you're always on the move and need the flexibility of creating and editing presentations on your Android or iOS device, you'll be glad to know that PowerPoint is free and available for offline use on your mobile phones. But — of course, there's a but — you can only access the free version if your device is under 10.1 inches. Anything bigger than that requires a premium subscription. If your phone fits the bill, then follow these steps to get free PowerPoint on your device:

  • Install Microsoft PowerPoint from the App Store or Google Play Store .
  • Log in using your existing Microsoft email or enter a new email address to create one if you don't already have an account.
  • On the "Get Microsoft 365 Personal Plan" screen, press Skip For Now.
  • If you're offered a free trial, select Try later (or enjoy the free 30-day trial if you're interested).
  • To make a new presentation, tap the plus sign in the upper right corner.
  • Change the "Create in" option from OneDrive - Personal to a folder on your device. This allows you to save the presentation to your local storage and make offline edits.
  • Press "Set as default" to set your local folder as the default file storage location.
  • Choose your template from the selection or use a blank presentation.
  • Edit your presentation as needed.

Do note that PowerPoint mobile comes with some restrictions. There's no option to insert stock elements, change the slide size to a custom size, use the Designer feature, or display the presentation in Immersive Reader mode. However, you can use font styles considered premium on the web app.

Method #4: Use Your School Email Address

Office 365 Education is free for students and teachers, provided they have an email address from an eligible school. To check for your eligibility, here's what you need to do:

  • Go to the Office 365 Education page .
  • Type in your school email address in the empty text field.
  • Press "Get Started."
  • On the next screen, verify your eligibility. If you're eligible, you'll be asked to select whether you're a student or a teacher. If your school isn't recognized, however, you'll get a message telling you so.
  • For those who are eligible, proceed with creating your Office 365 Education account. Make sure your school email can receive external mail, as Microsoft will send you a verification code for your account.
  • Once you're done filling out the form, press "Start." This will open your Office 365 account page.

You can then start making your PowerPoint presentation using the web app. If your school's plan supports it, you can also install the Office 365 apps to your computer by clicking the "Install Office" button on your Office 365 account page and running the downloaded installation file. What sets the Office 365 Education account apart from the regular free account is that you have unlimited personal cloud storage and access to other Office apps like Word, Excel, and Outlook.
