How to Apply on Onlinejobs.ph: Get Hired in 7 Steps

Perez Rod Michael Avatar

  • April 16, 2024

Back in the early days of the work-from-home boom in the Philippines, Onlinejobs.ph was one of the places I looked for clients aside from Upwork. As a platform created to connect foreigners with Remote Filipino Workers, Filipinos have an advantage in using Onlinejobs.ph because the employers who post there prefer hiring Filipinos.

Whether you’re new or experienced in doing online work, I can tell you that learning how to find and get clients is the most important skill for people like us. This is especially true if you want to turn online work into a secure, stable livelihood.

However, getting hired on Onlinejobs.ph, or OLJ as it is popularly called, has its own nuances that might not be obvious to the applicant.

So, in this guide, I’m going to share with you what I do when I apply on Onlinejobs.ph. So, you can increase your chances of getting hired and maximize the use of your limited daily messages.

To have the highest chance of getting hired when you apply on Onlinejobs.ph, you have to:

Step 1: Know what value you can deliver to your clients

Step 2: Make a shortlist of jobs that fit you

Step 3: do research on your target client’s company, step 4: update your onlinejobs.ph profile based on your research, step 5: prepare your resume and portfolio for sending, step 6: send a message to your target clients, step 7: prepare for the interview or exam.

Before diving deeper, you need to learn about how Onlinejobs.ph works for employers.

Video Guide: How NOT to Apply on Onlinejobs.ph

What you need to know about applying to employers on onlinejobs.ph.

To understand the best way to apply on Onlinejobs.ph, you have to learn how their system works on the side of the employer.

First, you need to know that there are two categories of employers: 1) Free Users or employers that aren’t paying a subscription and 2) Paid Users or employers that are paying for a monthly subscription, either Pro or Premium.

  • All types of users can post jobs, but only Paid Users can reply to applications . OLJ did this to significantly decrease the number of scammers on the website.
  • Paid Users are highly likely to post legit jobs on Onlinejobs.ph compared to free users, since they paid for a subscription, and they have been verified by OLJ.
  • Once their subscription ends, paid users can stop their subscription and can no longer reply to applications.

How does this system affect you when you apply on Onlinejobs.ph? It means you should prioritize applying to online job posts from paid users .

I know how disheartening it is when you apply to a job and you get no reply. So, don’t waste your limited amount of messages to free users who can’t even reply to you.  With that in mind, it’s time to learn the best ways to get hired on Onlinejobs.ph.

How to Apply on Onlinejobs.ph: 7-Step Job Application Sample

Step 1: know what value you can deliver to your clients.

Before you even get to the ‘Job Application’ page on OLJ, you need to do a bit of self-evaluation to increase your chances of getting hired.

Below is an example of what NOT to do:

how to apply on onlinejobs.ph job application sample 3

I see this very common mistake among Filipino job applicants, especially students and fresh graduates. Beginner job seekers have a very ‘self-focused’ approach when applying on Onlinejobs.ph where they just list down their skills. Some even try to appeal to sympathy to get themselves hired.

Now, this might sound harsh, but clients won’t care about that. Clients care most about the VALUE you can deliver to their business .

For example, when clients say they are looking for an SEO writer, they don’t really just want someone who can write and follow instructions. They “ need” someone who can help them reach a goal, such as ranking first on Google.

This “need” is what you need to match when you apply on Onlinejobs.ph.

Whatever your profession is, you have to know exactly what value you can deliver to your clients that they would be willing to pay for. As long as you communicate that up front in your profile or messages, then you can stand out from the competition.

How do I know what value clients want?

You can do this by searching through job postings for the position on job platforms such as Onlinejobs.ph. If you already have a target client in mind, you can also go to the forums and social media pages they join to learn about common problems in their industry.

What if I can’t provide that value?

Don’t rush. You can build your skills first through upskilling platforms such as Skillshare, where there are free and paid options. You can also watch instructional videos on Youtube and apply what you've learned to slowly build your skills.

What if I don’t have any experience yet?

You can always build your portfolio outside of work situations. For example, if you are an aspiring freelance SEO writer, then you can write 2 to 6 articles to start with. You can even browse through job posts to see what topics are popular.

To showcase that you know what you are doing, you can even explain your process. For the SEO writing example, you can explain what keyword you are targeting and how the article answers that keyword.

You can apply the same to other professions. If you’re a logo designer, make sample logos and explain the process of what makes the logo a perfect fit for a business concept. If you’re a landing page developer, make sample landing pages and explain why these pages will help clients convert visitors into paying clients.

There will always be a ‘value’ that is needed by clients. It’s up to you to find out what that is for your industry. And do whatever you have to do, whether it be to upskill or to build your portfolio, in order to communicate confidently that you can deliver that value to your potential clients.

Armed with the ‘value’ that you can deliver, you can now browse through OLJ’s job board with a clear purpose: “To find clients that need that value from you”.

Remember to prioritize paid users. You can usually distinguish them because they have complete details and a business logo. You can also visit OLJ’s employer search page and input the employer or company name. The page will tell you if the employer is a paid user or not.

hired clients onlinejobs.ph olj 2 - employer search

It’s okay to apply to some free users  on Onlinejobs.ph but only if you can directly contact them through email. Otherwise, I wouldn’t bother. I also stay away from employers who ask to make contact through Whatsapp or Telegram due to the increasing number of scammers on OLJ.

Also, I make it a point to create a spreadsheet where I copy the  links to each of the job posts I’ve shortlisted so I can go back to them easily later.

You can check the article “ Find Part-Time Jobs on Onlinejobs.ph: Easy 6 Step Guide ” for search keyword ideas. However, more often than not, the search terms will probably be industry-specific so it’s up to you to find out what those search terms are.

Aside from job posts, you can better understand your client’s needs by researching them outside of Onlinejobs.ph. You can check their website and social media pages if there are any.  This is also a healthy habit to have if you want to   avoid online job scams .

You can use any information you find about the client later to write a personalized message when you apply on Onlinejobs.ph.

For example, let’s say you want to apply as a social media manager. One of the places you should definitely research is the employer’s Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other pages.

how to apply on onlinejobs.ph and job application sample 1b

Let’s take the Remote Filipino Worker’s Facebook page as a sample. You’ll see that the number of likes isn’t very high. The engagement isn’t that good in their posts as well.

As a social media manager applicant, you can mention your observations and other stuff you’ve researched in your message on Onlinejobs.ph. You can then tell the potential employer that they can hire you to help them meet their objective.

So, by doing your research, you now have a very targeted message that will increase your chances of getting hired.

Once you have a better idea of the needs of your target clients, you can now customize your OLJ profile so that you can match their requirements. This is a very crucial step to get hired on Onlinejobs.ph.

For a detailed guide on updating your Onlinejobs.ph profile, please see “ How to Make a Winning Profile on Onlinejobs.ph in 9 Steps .”

Aside from your Onlinejobs.ph profile, you also need to customize your resume based on what you’ve learned about your client. Your resume is a very important part of your job application and should be carefully made according to the industry’s best practices. By doing so, you can not only meet the requirements, but also stand out from the competition.

“I’ve been applying for months and I’m not getting any clients.” Sadly, this is a common story I see all the time in Filipino online work communities.

Unfortunately, making a compelling resume is also another skill you have to learn to land an online job. You have to research the industry’s best practices and apply them to the resume you’re making.

This is why we made the RFW Job Excelerator to help beginners like you.

how to apply on onlinejobs.ph and job application sample 5 (job excelerator ad)

It’s an Excel-based AI-powered tool where you simply answer a questionnaire and it can guide you through the whole job application process, from resume making to interview preparation.

And yes, it’s free. You can find details on how to use this free tool at “ Free ChatGPT Resume Template: How to Land a Job Using AI “.

Depending on the job, a very customized portfolio can get your foot in the door faster. This is especially true for online jobs where ‘showing, not telling’ produces better results.

For example, as a freelance writer, this is what I do. If I want to work with a client who is a blog site owner, I check what kinds of articles are on their website. Next, I hand-pick some articles from my portfolio that will match the style or topic of their articles.

Basically, I make a curated portfolio showcase just for them.

And you can do the same for most results-based jobs, from graphic design to coding. I can assure you that the extra effort will be worth it especially if it helps you stand out from the competition and get to the next step of the job application process.

To send a message to your target client, you need to go to their job post and click the ‘Apply for this Job’ button.

After clicking on the button, you’ll be taken to a page similar to below where you can type in a message for your target client. Here is an  Onlinejobs.ph message sample that I use:

hired clients onlinejobs.ph olj 4b - message sample

Note that there’s no single message template that can get you clients with a 100% success rate. But if you follow this Onlinejobs.ph job application sample, you can make an impactful message to increase your chances of success.

This example of an appealing Onlinejobs.ph message can be broken down into 3 important parts. Namely:

  • First, you need to highlight what ‘value’ they get from you in the subject of the message. Remember, it’s not about you. It’s about what value they can get from you.
  • Second, add a personalized introduction using the name of the job poster plus information from their website or socials. It’s more important to send a well-matched application than a rushed insincere one.
  • Finally, add a link to a custom portfolio or resume that showcases the ‘value’ you can deliver to the client. If you are unfamiliar with using a cloud storage service to send files, please see the article “ How to Attach Files on Onlinejobs.ph: 4 Easy Steps ” for a detailed guide.

The next thing you have to consider is how many Apply Points you will be using. You can indicate the amount in the textbox as illustrated below.

what are apply points on onlinejobs.ph olj 2a

Apply Points are used on Onlinejobs.ph to indicate how serious you are in your job application. You earn 10 points daily and can hold up to a maximum of 60. The higher the points you send with your application, the more likely it will be visible to your potential employer.

For my recommended strategies for using Apply Points, please see” What Are Apply Points on Onlinejobs.ph? Complete Guide .”

Other Reminders:

  • Read the job post carefully before sending a message. Sometimes, they may require you to follow a specific format just so they know that you’ve properly read their post.
  • They may also require special files, such as a screenshots or a video resume, as part of the message you send them.
  • The client may also require you to fill up a form through an external link. Make sure to complete this first and send a confirmation to them as part of your message.
  • Don’t forget to add the links to your resume or portfolio. This is especially important if you are applying to free users who cannot reply to you until they subscribe to OLJ.
  • Lastly, proofread your message to avoid any embarrassing mistakes. Triple check the name since it’s the one that’s most important to get correct. You can then check for grammar or spelling errors through a free browser plugin like Grammarly .

After getting a reply, what you need to do next is to prepare for the interview or exam. Every client has their own hiring process, so make sure to follow their instructions carefully so you don’t disqualify yourself.

Pro Tip:  Test your webcam and mic before your interview to increase your chances of getting hired. Also, try to reduce the noise in your video call by using noise-cancelling equipment , such as the Logitech H340 noise-canceling headset.

A pleasant conversation with you can mean the difference between you getting hired over your competition. So, use every advantage you can get. This is especially important for voice-heavy jobs such as virtual assistants and cold callers.

If you also find that your webcam is lacking, there are many cheap, but decent options on online marketplaces . However, if your budget is tight, you can use your phone as a webcam instead.

best noise cancelling headsets philippines 24 (logitech h340)

Regardless if there’s an interview or not, you have to make sure that when you get hired, all of the job’s arrangements are clear to both parties, you and your client.

Here are some questions that I usually ask potential clients:

  • What is the salary? How will it be computed?
  • How will the compensation be sent to me?
  • What are the tasks involved in the job?
  • What tools or training are provided to complete the tasks properly? Can I ask the employer for additional tools if they are necessary for the job?
  • What are the expectations regarding the results of the tasks?
  • How will the results be evaluated? Is there a feedback system in place?
  • What is the working schedule?
  • Will there be an onboarding process?
  • What will be the regular channel of communication?
  • What is the client’s management style?

While it’s important to match your client’s needs, you also have to remember that they need to match yours as well. Ultimately, it will be up to you if you will accept the job or not, so make sure not to shy away from asking as many relevant questions as you can.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do i send a job application on onlinejobs.ph.

You must view the details of a job posting before you can send a job application on Onlinejobs.ph. At the top of every job post page, you will find the ‘Apply for This Job’ button. Just click on this button and it will take you to the page where you can send a message to the hiring company.

What do I put as a subject on an Onlinejobs.ph message?

The subject is the first thing that your potential employer or client will see when they get a message from you on Onlinejobs.ph. If you’ve done your research beforehand, you should already know what value clients are looking for when they put up a job posting.  So, as clearly as you can, tell them what value they can get when they hire you.

Here are some sample subjects you can use on Onlinejobs.ph for different professions:

1) SEO Writer – I can get your blog to the first page of Google

2) Social Media Graphic Designer – Helping you reconnect with your community

3) Virtual Assistant – Leave the admin tasks to me so you can focus on what’s important

4) Video Editor – Quality editing that gets you more views and followers

5) Cold Caller – Fluent & persuasive cold caller who can get you more sales

Of course, these are only examples of subjects that you can use for an Onlinejobs.ph message. You still have to customize them based on the research you’ve done on the client, as well as, the results you can deliver through your work.

I'm a student without any work experience. What do I do to improve my chances of getting hired?

Improving your chances of getting hired as a student with no work experience can be challenging, but it’s certainly possible. There are certain techniques or ‘diskarte’ that you can use since you don’t have any experience yet.

This includes using the ‘show, not tell’ technique to appeal to employers without the need to show your resume. For more details on this technique and other practical tips, you can check out “ Onlinejobs.ph for Students: Get Hired with No Experience “.

What should I do if I get ghosted or my application gets rejected?

Even the best-crafted applications can get ghosted or rejected.  It’s a normal occurrence when you apply on Onlinejobs.ph or through other job platforms.

Sometimes it’s due to other factors, but most of the time you just don’t match with the client. When you get ghosted, you get no feedback at all so it’s important to just shake it off and move on.

When you get rejected, you might have a chance to get actual feedback. Try to get that valuable information as much as you can so that you can adjust your future applications as necessary. “Take no as a REDIRECTION, not a rejection.”

After getting my first client, how do I get more clients?

Getting hired on Onlinejobs.ph is just the first step to a stable online career. That’s why you have to work with the mindset that your current clients will lead to more clients.

For example, if your project with them is done, you can ask them to recommend people that they might know who would require your services. Network as much as possible and always part with your clients on good terms.

You should also look for clients outside of Onlinejobs.ph . There are many alternatives to OLJ and you don’t want to be limited to just one platform. Getting clients is an especially important skill you need to learn if you plan to make freelancing as a career.

Next, always allot time to learn new skills that people would be willing to pay for. The skills you need to learn are different depending on your industry, so just do your research and ask around.

Lastly, don’t forget to invest in work-from-home equipment that prevents health issues. I learned early on that – it’s pointless to earn that online job money when it’s all going to hospital fees!

If budget allows, I highly recommend getting an ergonomic chair . The one I use, the Sihoo M57 , is great for preventing back pain but it’s pretty expensive. It’s something I invested in after a few months of working but definitely worth the investment since it has significantly lowered my shoulder and back pain.

Since you’re just starting, I recommended getting a laptop stand at the very least. It’s cheap but can already do wonders for preventing wrist and neck pain.

What are the best payment methods on Onlinejobs.ph?

Since Onlinejobs.ph does not have a built-in payment system within their platform, you can choose anything you want that is available on the web.

I use Wise and PayPal myself for my different clients. Ultimately, it’s up to the arrangement you and your client will have. If you need more information on  the best Onlinejobs.ph payment platforms, please see the article “ How to Withdraw Your Money from Onlinejobs.ph to Your Bank “.

If there’s one job marketplace synonymous with beginner-friendly, that’s OnlineJobs.ph . The platform is a hub for Filipinos looking for home-based online work and international employers seeking virtual assistants, web developers, content writers, and other professionals.

Register, build your profile, have it verified, start looking for jobs, and get hired fast in OnlineJobs.ph or OLJ, following proven tips and tricks.

In this guide, we’ll do exactly that as I walk you through building your virtual career as a beginner through OnlineJobs.ph.

Disclosure: Some of the links on our website are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. Rest assured, our recommendations are unbiased, and your support through these links helps us provide valuable content.

What Is OnlineJobs.ph?

Founded by John Jonas from Utah, USA, OnlineJobs.ph or OLJ was created to help employers find Filipino workers and facilitate the process of hiring and exchanging of services safely and efficiently. That said, OnlineJobs.ph is one of the legitimate places you can look for work.

But while it’s an ideal job marketplace for Filipino workers, especially for those with zero to minimal experience, it may not be the perfect choice if you have certain careers in mind outside the virtual realm or if you’re scaling up. Check out the pros and cons of searching for jobs on OLJ.

Consider OnlineJobs.ph if…

  • You’re a beginner trying out online work: If you’re computer literate and familiar with many tools like Google apps and Microsoft Office, you should be able to land jobs like data entry and virtual assistance on OLJ. Many employers provide opportunities for beginners as long as they’re teachable.
  • You want to start finding jobs on a user-friendly job site : OLJ is simple to use, and you can increase your chances of getting hired through an easy-to-follow system where you verify your identity and showcase your skills. It’s a great option for those new to online job marketplaces.

Consider other options if…

  • You’re looking for online jobs with competitive rates : While you can still find online jobs in OLJ that come with decent or even higher-than-average salaries, it can be rare. Most employers using the platform aim to find workers who can complete tasks without breaking the bank. As a result, rates mostly fit beginners. Consider Indeed.com instead or LinkedIn to connect with companies that pay competitive salaries.
  • You want to do freelance work: OnlineJobs.ph does offer a section and a filter for freelance jobs. However, the overall texture of the website is designed for full-time and part-time work. If you want more control over your freelance services, the best platform for the job is Fiverr – learn how to attract work on Fiverr in our guide.

How to Get Started with Onlinejobs.ph?

Since it’s designed primarily for employers looking for Filipino workers, starting your virtual career at OnlineJobs.ph does not require tons of steps and turns. Follow this simple process to start your journey of landing your first work online.

1. Account Registration

Signing up for an OLJ account is free, and you can create it in seconds. All you need to do is enter your email address and create a strong password. Check all the boxes reinforcing your understanding of the website’s basic ruling on accounts. Tick off the CAPTCHA box and click on register.

You will then receive an email containing the verification link. Click on that link to process to make your profile.

Welcome message when you complete your account registration

2. Building a Strong Profile

To have a well-put profile in OnlineJobs.ph is tantamount to having a winning resume that attracts clients in a heartbeat. What’s even better is that you can build your OLJ profile in minutes, especially if you already know what type of job you wish to land.

a. Creating Your Profile

After verifying your account, the next step is to complete your profile by adding your job title, profile description, educational attainment, the type of work you’re looking for, your rate per hour, year of birth, and gender.

You will also be asked to tick the box confirming your consent and willingness to use the time-tracking software TimeProof . Afterward, you can now move on to the next step, which is rating your skills.

b. Adding Your Skills In

Showcasing related skills to your job title gives credibility to what you can bring to the table as far as business goes. You can choose to skip this step to better identify your skills (15 at most), but make sure to complete it as soon as possible.

In this stage, you simply have to type in the skills you want to highlight, and the dropdown arrow will show variations. Choose which one fits best or is closest to your actual skill.

You will then be led to a prompt where you will input how long your experience is for that particular skill. Then, rate your skill proficiency below, with five stars for expert and one star for complete beginners.

Although optional, add a brief description of your experience in practicing such a skill. This increases your appeal to employers since they can perceive your actual skill level based on the narrative.

Why This Works:

In the description, you didn’t simply elaborate on how you applied the skill to a specific task; you also highlighted its impact and importance to the business. This shows you understand your work.

Plus, you’ve mentioned the tools you used, providing a better picture of your skill performance. Lastly, you’ve mentioned working with your client’s team, emphasizing your soft skills in collaboration and teamwork.

Add your years of experience for the specific skill

c. Completing the tests

Another way to build a strong profile for your OLJ account is to complete the three tests that employers can look into when assessing your overall fitness for the job. They are easy, quick to finish, and, best of all, free.

Make sure to take the following and upload the screenshot of your test results to your profile.

3. DISC: The DISC test provides insights into your work style. Employers can better understand your personality, behavior, tendencies, and more in a specific work environment. Keep in mind, however, that there is no right or wrong answer, nor is there a superior personality.

Add your test results to your OnlineJobs.ph profile

d. Verifying your account

Another thing you might also observe from your newly created OLJ profile is the ID proof. This is OnlineJobs.ph's way to sieve good profiles from the ones that are deceiving. It’s numbered from 0 to 100. The higher your ID proof, the more believable that you exist and you are who you are in your profile.

Your ID proof number is also your meal ticket to good jobs with better pay, as some job posts are locked and gated by a specific number, as shown below.

To increase your ID proof number, all you have to do is verify your identity through these steps:

Job Searching

Looking for jobs in OLJ is straightforward. Just click the “Job Board” button and browse through the list of job posts. You’ll see that they are placed in different categories based on the type of work. If you want to narrow down the list, you can use the filters. These include the employment type and job subcategories.

Job posts typically contain the position for hiring, salary range, and whether or not it's a gig, full-time, or part-time job. Once you click the post, you’ll see the job overview and the skills required.

Click on the Apply For This Job button. From there, you’ll be taken to a page where you’ll complete your job application.

  • Fill in the subject line corresponding to the job you’re applying for.
  • Then, add your cover letter in the message section.
  • Enter your contact information in the box below. This should contain your name, email address, Skype account, and other helpful details like your LinkedIn or Facebook accounts.
  • You can also choose to add your mobile number.

Ensuring Job Legitimacy

Although OnlineJobs.ph is a legitimate site and hiring individuals along with companies are thoroughly screened, there are still those who try to take advantage of applicants, especially as soon as they start doing the job. To avoid these so-called scammers, always remember the following tips:

  • Scrutinize the job post well . Legitime job openings contain details such as the tasks or responsibilities associated with the position. It also includes the qualifications required, employment type, and payment arrangement. It’s a green flag if the post has details about the company, including its website.
  • Never send anyone money, even if they insist it’s for the job . If the hiring manager asks you to pay for a certain course, bitcoin conversions, or any item, move on to the next post and alert the OLJ system.
  • Do not provide employers with sensitive information or anything unrelated to your job application. These include typical gateway information like your mother’s maiden name, your credit card info, and so on.
  • Clarify the payment method and the cadence of the payout. Make sure you ask salary-related questions during your interview to avoid any misalignment in terms of expectations.

Applying for a Job: Dos and Don’ts

As soon as you scour through the job listings in OLJ, you’ll find that employment opportunities are plenty. However, despite the volume of job openings, your chances of getting hired ultimately depend on the impression you give to employers when you send your application.

Also, keep in mind that some practices in the platform are highly discouraged to ensure application transparency. Taking these prohibitions for granted can result in the removal of your account.

To ensure that you land a legitimate job in no time, consider the following tips as you click the dropdown arrows.

  • Only apply to job openings that fit your qualifications. Keep in mind that everyone’s time is valuable. So make sure you’re being completely honest in your application.
  • Use the subject line of your email application to exude confidence. Instead of writing “Re: Your Job Opening,” be more direct to stand out. You can write “I Am Your [specific position] in the line. This stirs a bit of intrigue as employers will want to know why you would say so.
  • Include your experience and expertise in your cover letter. If you're applying for an entry-level job, highlight the skills you have that match the qualifications.
  • Attach a link to your portfolio and resume. Making these documents available increases your appeal to employers. Read our tips on creating a winning resume for better chances of landing the job.
  • If the employer contacts you, make sure you respond within 24 hours. Remember that you could be up against a number of applicants. Hence, it might be easy for employers to jump to the next candidate if you don’t respond quickly.

sample cover letter for onlinejobs.ph

  • Avoid creating multiple accounts. OnlineJobs.ph values the integrity of employers and job seekers alike. If the system finds that you have secondary accounts with fake information, you will be banned from the platform.
  • Do not copy-paste your cover letter. OLJ discourages mass application. Hence, you may also notice that applications are limited per day. Copy-pasting your cover letter decreases your chances of getting hired. For one, you risk retaining information that may be suited for the last job post you applied to but not the next.
  • Don’t ignore employers reaching out to you. If you’ve been on the platform for some time, you might observe employers messaging you about job openings. Even if you feel like not taking the offer, make sure to respond cordially. You’ll never know; you may need the connection in the future.

But you get competition. We have hundreds of thousands of Filipino remote workers in our database looking for high-quality and long-term work-from-home jobs like you.

So you need your application to stand out.

To help you through the online job application process, we've compiled a list of the "do's and don'ts" on your application for work from home.

1. You should research the role before you apply.

As a first step, recruiters look for applicants that show a genuine interest in their company. They would be most likely to consider those with prior work experience.

Get to know more about the demands and responsibilities of the role you're applying for. Your resume and cover letter should also include details that address the needs of the job. Such would be a sign of being prepared which will help you stand out from the crowd.

2. It would be best to adapt your resume keywords to each online job application you make.

An online job posted on a massive marketplace like VirtualStaff.ph should expect to receive plenty of applications. And some head hunters and recruiters use tools to sort these job applications.

An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is likely to be used to assess your online application when you apply for a job. Resumes are parsed and sorted using Applicant Tracking Systems based on subjects or keywords, i.e., education or other relevant information about the applicants.

If you want to stand out among other applicants, ensure that your resume contains keywords needed mainly for the job application. Each time you apply for a job online, you should use a different set of resume keywords.

You're more inclined to speed through the application procedure if your job application hits all the necessary keywords.

3. A cover letter is essential.

When applying for a job online, you should always include a cover letter, even if it's optional. Incorporating the company's principles and mission statement into your cover letter is a terrific method to showcase your strengths and expertise.

Cover letters also have a more tactical edge when applying for jobs. Cover letters are considered in many Applicant Tracking Systems while searching for candidates.

4. The application you submit online should match what you offer on the job board.

To apply for a job with the company, you may be asked to submit your résumé and cover letter through email. If you apply for a job without reading the instructions, it will seem that you are unable to follow instructions.

Avoid submitting without editing. Online habits may win out without our knowledge. We sometimes get applications with all-lowercase names. Not capitalizing the first name tells us three things: You lack that keenness on detail, is lethargic, and don't value your job.

5. Don't rely on auto-fill while applying to jobs.

Although this may make things simpler, it will cost you in the long run. You may have noticed that your application's auto-fill data didn't always line up correctly.

There is a chance that auto-fill may structure your employment history unusually or confusingly. Rather than relying on luck, go through the entire process of entering the information one detail at a time, reviewing your work as you go.

6. Don't leave portions unfinished.

The temptation to leave that area blank arises because uploading your resume and then manually typing in your employment history might be time-consuming.

As a result, on many Applicant Tracking Systems, employment history information is more prominent than a candidate's resumé. You should modify these parts the same way you would design your resume to fit the keywords that will help you get a job, so don't forget to do it.

7. Be ready to submit an online application if you want to be considered.

Preparation is the key to success. Depending on the job you're searching for, you may also need to submit potential employers' work examples. Make sure the position you're applying for is still vacant. You'll want to avoid duplicating your efforts on roles that have long been filled.

  8. Prepare for an online interview.

Applicants seeking work-at-home positions may be required to be interviewed by the employer via a Zoom or Skype call. You must prepare for this interview and read more about the job role.

9. Research for the company.

Your research should cover the company and the job position. You should also try to reach out to current employees if you find them on LinkedIn. Make sure to do your due diligence and use your best judgment to identify a reputable work-from-home opportunity so that you avoid being scammed online. Ask for references if you have any doubts about the company's legitimacy.

10. A deal that seems too good to be true, it probably is.

If you get an unsolicited email claiming that a firm you've never heard of wants to recruit you for a position that doesn't need any experience or abilities and pays a lot of money, do not respond. The internet is crowded with frauds, some of which are customized and seem to be authentic, but they're scams.

There are a few things to avoid in terms of working from home. Assembling, selling, processing claims, and filling envelopes are a few examples. Several jobs out there cost a lot of money upfront and pay little to nothing in return.

11. Sending money is never a good idea.

When you start working for a company, you should not be charged to do so. There is no need to transfer money for equipment from a business. No money should be spent on directories or starter packages for home businesses. There is a wealth of free information and job postings online. Also, don't give out any personal information that might be used to steal your identity, such as your bank account information.

Work-from-home jobs are simple to find, and you can avoid online employment frauds by vigilance. To prevent fraudsters online, choose a reputable platform and follow these tips on your application for work from home.

VirtualStaff.ph is the best platform in the Philippines to look for work-at-home opportunities. The website joined the remote work industry in 2016 and, since then, has built a reputation of trustworthiness.
