How to Rewrite the Personal Statement as a Reapplicant

Session 273.

This nontrad student is applying again and is not sure how to go about rewriting the personal statement with a lack of experiences. Here’s my advice on how to approach this!

[01:05] The MCAT Minute

How do you know you’re ready to take the MCAT?

The danger of not registering earlier is that when the test dates get filled up, you might have to register for an earlier test date than you wanted it to be. That’s why you need to register as soon as you can and just reschedule it if you need to later. This could be scary for some students.

At the end of the day, nobody ever truly feels ready to take the MCAT. And so you need to take your practice tests. Sign up for a free account over at Blueprint MCAT and get a free full-length test, which we’re also covering on The MCAT Podcast . You also get access to a half-length diagnostic. Whether or not you’re ready, trust your gut, trust your prep, and schedule that test.

[02:38] OldPreMeds Question of the Week

“How do I change my personal statement when I don’t have any new stories?

Hello. I am likely going to be a re-applicant. I am wondering how I change my personal statement and application as a whole in a way that is meaningful.

During Covid, I haven’t really had a chance to do anything but take master level courses, a very small amount of research, and volunteer at a food bank. So I don’t really have any new stories to add to my PS.

I applied to four schools this year and got two interviews and was waitlisted at both places. I would have for sure got into one of the schools but they require a medical clearance that I cannot get right now. The only thing that I see hindering my application is that I applied a little late. I submitted June 26 but wasn’t verified until Aug 6.”

[03:34] Expect a Slow Verification Process

Applying on June 26 is not late. The question is why was there a huge delay and just with COVID, the AAMC had huge problems with transcripts and other things. And so, the verification process was really long during COVID. Hopefully, that gets cleared up. But in general, the AAMC is slow with verification of applications. Again, June 26 is not super late so don’t be worried about that.

[04:18] Lack of Clinical Experiences

The bigger question here is that if you don’t have a lot of experiences, how are you supposed to rewrite your personal statement, your activity descriptions, etc.?

If you haven’t really done much in the last year, that’s going to be a challenge to reapply. Especially during this last application cycle, the 20-21 application cycle, and potentially even moving forward the 21-22 application cycle, students are finding very limited opportunities to get more experiences that will lead to more stories, more impact, more exposure, and more experiences to put on an application.

[05:46] How to Change Your Personal Statement, Activities, Etc. as a Reapplicant

There are things you need to be careful of as well. If you have a nuanced job and you put in the “job title” for the experience and somebody doesn’t look at that because they know exactly what that is. You may need to spend a sentence to clarify exactly what that role is and jump into your narrative.

And going back to the heart of the question, just do as much as you can to write. Don’t just copy and paste your personal statements word for word. Find a different structure.

In writing a personal statement, the question you’re answering is, why do you want to be a physician.

Maybe in your original personal statement, you started with the seed and then some watering events. The seed is something I’ve talked about in The Premed Playbook: Guide to the Medical School Personal Statement . That seed is what led to you wanting to explore medicine. And then what watered that seed would be the experiences around patients that really solidified in your mind that you want to be a physician.

Maybe this time, you can start with a watering event first and rearrange it a little bit and add some transitions to make it logical. Or maybe for your experience descriptions, tweak the stories a little bit. Again, don’t just copy and paste word for word.

You don’t want to be the student who doesn’t have anything new so you’re just going to use everything – the same personal statements and extracurricular activity descriptions, the same secondaries.

And if there’s not much to change, such as your honors, awards, and recognitions, don’t worry about those small things.

But things like your impact, the narratives, and how you’ve grown as a person should potentially have changed even if you haven’t had new experiences. Because you have still grown as a person in terms of how you see the world, how COVID has impacted you, and your aspirations for your future life.

Be very aspirational in terms of what you want to do and what you’re going to do with the education that the school is going to give you because of the experiences.

With the pandemic and everything else that has happened, you are looking at life through a new set of lenses. You can now reflect differently on each of the experiences. Maybe the story itself doesn’t change much, but again, change as much as possible. The reflection potentially changes because you are a different person now and you think about things a little bit differently.

Whether in your primary application, secondary application, and even interviews, tweak your answers a little bit. Try to come at it from a different angle. Even in your letters of recommendations, try to update or change as much as possible.

PERSONAL STATEMENT EDITORS

TIPS FOR UPDATING YOUR PERSONAL STATEMENT AS A REAPPLICANT

After spending months and months constructing a seemingly perfect 5,000-character personal statement for PA school, it may seem daunting to update it. But, as a reapplicant, it is necessary. Your personal statement is unique to you and should express important parts of your PA school application journey, which may include the experience of being a reapplicant.

You have changed and grown since the previous application cycle and your essay should reflect this. Use the opportunity of a personal statement to express “Why PA” from your current perspective, which has shifted since you lasted applied. Although you may believe your personal statement was crafted perfectly, re-writing it is highly recommended.

The whole personal essay does not have to be completely different. It may still contain similar sentences and phrases but avoid simply copying and pasting entire paragraphs. You have experienced new patients, new scenarios, new things since you wrote your previous essay. Brainstorm how the past year or few months have further contributed to your desire to be accepted to PA school and become a PA. There is a reason that after being denied in one application cycle that you are persevering as a reapplicant. Communicate this passion!

If you believe that your personal statement was an area of weakness in your overall application, read through in in the perspective of an admissions committee member. What makes you stand out? What could have any other applicant wrote that is not unique to you? What lacks depth and specificity? Was the introduction paragraph enough to make you interested in the rest of the essay? Were all words chosen meticulously? Use prompts such as these to evaluate your essay and pick it apart. It will make for a better reapplicant essay.

Ask for help! Allowing others to read through and critique your essay is essential. This can be a school advisor, a PA you previously shadowed, a member of your college’s writing center, a family member, and, most importantly, a member of myPAresource. All personal statement editors who participate in revisions through myPAresource are certified physician assistants who have been extensively trained by current and former admissions panel members. They are well aware of what PA schools look for in personal statements and can provide crucial guidance on your essay.

As for the approach to upgrade your personal statement as a reapplicant, I suggest creating a plan! Pick one part of the essay to evaluate, revamp, completely delete, etc. each week. Once all paragraphs have been considered, brainstorm which additional paragraphs can benefit the overall picture you are tying to portray. After drafting these additional paragraphs, piece the whole essay together and you have a full rough draft! This is not the end though, just the beginning! Allow yourself to step away from the essay for a few days before revisiting it. This will give you a sharper perspective of the overall flow and tone of the essay. Read the essay out loud to yourself. What sentences are clear and precise, and which need some fine-tuning? Crafting a great personal statement takes great patience and effort.

Referencing how you have grown as a person and PA school applicant since the previous cycle is key. Explain what you have learned about yourself and learned about your goals over the past year. Convey how this time has prepared you for the rigors of PA school. I do not suggest dwelling on why you may not have been accepted in the previous cycle or any specifics about doubting your abilities. Use this space as a positive way to tell your story and enlighten the reader that you are an even better candidate for a spot in the PA program than you were before!

Reapplicant Advising

We’ll help you get accepted to medical school

The Reality for Reapplicants

You’re not alone. Each year, approximately 40% of medical school applicants successfully matriculate, leaving nearly 60% facing the decision whether they should reapply or pursue another career altogether.

Unfortunately, there’s a great deal is misinformation surrounding this stress-inducing topic – should you change your personal statement or use the same one you previously submitted? What about letters of recommendation? Can you reapply to the same medical schools or choose a new med school list?

The answers to these questions are straightforward, but the questions themselves are misguided. The most important questions to answer are: 1) why did I fail to receive any medical school acceptances and 2) how can I best position myself for a successful second (or third, or fourth) application cycle? It’s critical to understand what medical school are looking for and why that wasn’t portrayed in your application previously. From there, we can allocate time, resources, and energy most effectively to maximally strengthen your application.

At Med School Insiders, we don’t believe that rejection is final. We’ve helped hundreds of students get accepted to U.S. medical schools, many of whom were reapplicants.  But our industry-leading results  don’t happen from wishful thinking. Rather, we use our combined decades of medical school admissions committee experience in addition to a systematic way to approach the unique hurdles of reapplicants to deliver results.

Our Approach for Medical School Reapplicants

Our systematic and comprehensive approach to reapplicant advising follows these steps:

1. Review and analyze your previous application – the first step to strengthen an application is to first accurately assess where you stand. What are your strengths and weaknesses? What held you back last cycle? We conduct a thorough review of your AMCAS application, previous grades, MCAT, extracurriculars, application timing, essays, school list, letter of recommendation writers, research experiences, unique circumstances, and more.

2. Goal setting – after understanding the limitations in your previous medical school application, we can then assess where you stand and what realistic goals would be. For some students, starting medical school as soon as possible is a priority. For other students, taking a gap year to further bolster their application is favorable. Some students are willing to put in the effort to get accepted to a prestigious medical school, and others are fine attending any medical school. Understanding your needs, desires, and how they relate to your current status is foundational in guiding you towards your personal definition of success.

3. Formulating a plan (soft and hard factor strengthening)  – the hard factors of your application are the objective measurables – your GPA, MCAT, and the like. The soft factors of your application include everything else – your personal statement, letters of recommendation, primary and secondary essays, interview skills, and more. Given steps 1 and 2, we’re now ready to begin formulating a plan to address weaknesses and balance what is optimal for your application with your own goals and timeline.

4. Plan implementation – it’s now time to put your plan into action. This step is customized to each student’s needs. A personal statement rewrite and AMCAS/AACOMAS revamp is suggested for almost all reapplicants. For some, we help secure post-bacc or special master’s program (SMP) positions. For others, we begin discussing alternative pathways, including osteopathic (DO) medical schools or international allopathic (MD) medical schools.

Frequently asked questions.

We recommend every reapplicant rewrite their personal statement. Avoid being a “boomerang applicant”, meaning an applicant who responds to rejection by retrying with the same application – without any improvements. This is a sure way to be rejected yet again.

Rather, consider this an important lesson in life, taking a challenge or obstacle and using it to your advantage . Describing this journey and the process of learning about yourself, improving yourself, and reigniting your passion to pursue medicine is far more likely to yield the results you seek.

After our in-depth analysis of your application and your goals, we’ll be able to tell you how to best move forward. Some applicants simply need reworking the soft factors of their application. Other applicants need to take a year off to work on their MCAT or bolster other extracurricular or research experiences. We’ll figure out which plan is best for you.

After completing our intake questionnaire, we will match you with a doctor advisor best suited for your needs. Our advisors are real doctors with experience on medical school admissions committees and experience mentoring hundreds of students. If you’d like, you can specifically request an advisor and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

The quality of our advising service is second to none. That’s because our highly competitive team consists of real doctors with real admissions committee experience. They love mentoring and empowering the next generation of physicians. And to ensure the best results, each follows our proprietary systematic approach so that your interests are aligned with theirs. They love what they do, and they want to see you succeed. You can learn about the Med School Insiders method here .

Since advisors may be anywhere in the country and advisors and students are often hundreds of miles apart, we recommend a virtual meeting through video chat.

If parents want to participate, they are encouraged to do so!

Our customers have consistently been amazed by the value they receive from our advising sessions. Prior to meeting with you, our advisor will carefully review your intake questionnaire to familiarize themself with your medical school application. That way, you will be able to hit the ground running and get tremendous value in each advising session.

Country star Zac Brown sues estranged wife Kelly Yazdi over Instagram post

Kelly Yazdi and Zac Brown.

Grammy-winning country singer Zac Brown filed a lawsuit against his estranged wife Friday demanding she take down an Instagram post, arguing what she put online has tarnished his public image.

Brown alleges a post on Kelly Yazdi’s Instagram account broke a confidentiality agreement she had signed, according to court documents. The singer is seeking an emergency temporary restraining order that would compel her to remove the post.

Brown is also asking the court to stop Yazdi from “making any defamatory, false, untrue, or otherwise damaging statements” about him, his family and his bandmates.

The lawsuit, filed in Georgia, does not specify the Instagram post in question. Yazdi, identified in the documents as Brown’s wife and a former employee of his company, did not immediately reply to a request for comment on the lawsuit.

In a statement to NBC News, Brown said, “I took the steps necessary to enforce an agreement between us to maintain personal and business affairs in confidence and to protect my family from online harassment and speculation.”

He added that his “only hope is for us to keep private matters private and to move forward with the mutual respect we had agreed to show one another when we parted ways.”

Brown is best known as the co-founder and lead singer of the Zac Brown Band. He has won three Grammy Awards as frontman for the group, including best new artist in 2010 and best country album in 2013.

Yazdi’s website describes her as “a SAG-AFTRA actress & stuntwoman, professional model, huntress and brand ambassador.” Yazdi’s professional acting credits include the movie “The Beautiful Ones” and an episode of “Hawaii Five-0.”

Brown reportedly proposed to Yazdi in 2022, and they were married in Georgia last August. They announced their split in a joint statement four months later, saying in part: “We are in the process of divorce. … We wish each other the best and will always appreciate our time together.”

Brown was previously married to Shelly Brown, a jewelry designer. They announced their split in 2018 after 12 years of marriage. They share five children.

Sudden Resignations. A Leaked Letter. What’s Happening Inside Miss USA?

Noelia Voigt’s announcement this week that she was stepping down as Miss USA set off a string of departures and prompted larger questions about the inner workings of the organization.

UmaSofia Srivastava and Noelia Voigt sit side by side in short bejeweled dresses with pageant sashes.

By Madison Malone Kircher

When the reigning Miss USA, Noelia Voigt, announced this week she would be resigning from her position, she cited her mental health and wrote about her gratitude for the opportunity.

“As individuals, we grow through experiencing different things in life that lead us to learning more about ourselves,” she wrote on Instagram on Monday.

But an internal resignation letter by Ms. Voigt to Miss USA leadership and the Miss Universe Organization, obtained on Friday by The New York Times, presented a much darker picture.

In the eight-page letter, Ms. Voigt, who represented the state of Utah and was crowned in September, described “a toxic work environment within the Miss USA Organization that, at best, is poor management and, at worst, is bullying and harassment.” She also complained in her letter that the organization had delayed making good on her prize winnings.

The Miss USA Organization did not respond to request for comment.

Ms. Voigt’s departure has spurred at least two other resignations. UmaSofia Srivastava, Miss Teen USA, announced she was stepping down from her role on Wednesday. Arianna Lemus, who represented Colorado at Miss USA in 2023, said on Friday she was resigning in solidarity after seeing Ms. Voigt’s post.

“That was a call to help,” Ms. Lemus, 27, said in an interview.

The sudden departures have touched off wider speculation in the pageant world that crowned winners are legally barred from speaking freely about their experiences with the Miss USA Organization. Many of Ms. Voigt’s past competitors, including Ms. Lemus, shared a statement demanding that she be released from any nondisclosure agreements.

In her resignation letter, Ms. Voigt said she experienced an incident of sexual harassment when, during a Christmas parade last year in Sarasota, Fla., a driver made inappropriate comments toward her.

She said in her letter that the organization failed to support her when she reported the incident.

Ms. Voigt went on to write that serving as Miss USA took a toll on her health, adding that she now struggled with anxiety and took medication to manage her symptoms.

She said she had begun experiencing “heart palpitations, full body shakes, loss of appetite, unintentional weight loss, loss of sleep, loss of hair and more.”

Some people believed Ms. Voigt’s Instagram post announcing her resignation contained a secret message. The first letter of each of the first 11 sentences of the statement spell the phrase “I AM SILENCED,” which some have interpreted as a signal that Ms. Voigt is unable to speak openly about her experience.

Just a few days after Ms. Voigt’s announcement, Ms. Srivastava, who was crowned Miss Teen USA in 2023, also resigned from her post .

“After careful consideration, I have decided to resign as I find that my personal values no longer fully align with the direction of the organization,” Ms. Srivastava, who represented the state of New Jersey at the Miss Teen USA pageant in September, wrote on Instagram.

Her post included a quote from the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche: “There are no beautiful surfaces without a terrible depth.”

“I know all of us who love the program want to rush out and do something,” Laylah Rose, the president and chief executive of the Miss USA Organization, wrote in an email to The Times earlier this week, regarding Ms. Voigt’s and Ms. Srivastava’s resignations. “My goal is to provide truly helpful steps we can take together.”

“Our all-encompassing goal at Miss USA is to celebrate and empower women,” Ms. Rose added, saying she was taking “these allegations seriously.”

Through a representative, both Ms. Srivastava and Ms. Voigt declined to comment, citing a nondisclosure agreement. (A copy of the 2023 Miss USA contract obtained by The New York Times appears to bar signees from disclosing any information about Miss USA while employed by the organization.)

After Ms. Voigt’s announcement, several of her fellow Miss USA 2023 competitors posted a statement on Instagram demanding that the Miss USA Organization release Ms. Voigt from any such agreement.

Juliana Morehouse, who competed at Miss USA representing Maine and lives in South Carolina, said in an interview with The Times that the letter originated in a group chat of 2023 participants who were “shocked and saddened” to hear of Ms. Voigt’s resignation. On a Zoom call, they hashed out the message they wanted to share in support of Ms. Voigt.

(Ms. Morehouse did not provide an exact figure but said the number of women who wrote and shared the letter comprised a majority of the 51 competitors at Miss USA in 2023.)

Claudia Michelle Engelhardt, who stepped down from her role as social media director for Miss USA this month, said she felt the Miss USA participants were unfairly pressured into signing their contracts.

“It was pretty much, ‘You have to sign this or you’re not going to compete,’” Ms. Engelhardt, 24, said. “You just worked your butt off to get here. You won your state. What, are you not going to go because you don’t want to sign a contract? They are basically holding you hostage, for lack of a better term, to sign this contract.”

Ms. Morehouse said she was given “a little over 24 hours” to review the contract.

“I don’t think any of us sought legal representation to review it with us,” she said in an interview with The Times. “We had never heard of such an ironclad NDA being implemented in previous years, because this was the first year of the new leadership.” (Ms. Rose became president of the organization last year.)

She emphasized that while her personal experience with Miss USA was a positive one, she hoped speaking out would ensure that was the case for all participants in the future.

Ms. Lemus, the former Miss Colorado USA, said she saw some irony in how Miss USA appeared to be operating.

“This is an organization that preaches women’s empowerment,” she said.

The 11-inch model is just 5.3 mm thin, and the 13-inch model is even thinner at a striking 5.1 mm, while both models are just as strong as the previous design. The 11-inch model weighs less than a pound, and the 13-inch model is nearly a quarter pound lighter than its predecessor — allowing pro users to extend their workflows in new ways and in more places. The new iPad Pro is available in two gorgeous finishes — silver and space black — both with 100 percent recycled aluminum enclosures.

The new iPad Pro debuts the Ultra Retina XDR, the world’s most advanced display, to provide an even more remarkable visual experience. The Ultra Retina XDR display features state-of-the-art tandem OLED technology that uses two OLED panels and combines the light from both to provide phenomenal full-screen brightness. The new iPad Pro supports an incredible 1000 nits of full-screen brightness for SDR and HDR content, and 1600 nits peak for HDR. No other device of its kind delivers this level of extreme dynamic range. Tandem OLED technology enables sub-millisecond control over the color and luminance of each pixel, taking XDR precision further than ever. Specular highlights in photos and video appear even brighter, and there’s more detail in shadows and low light than ever before on iPad — all while delivering even more responsiveness to content in motion. For pro users working in high-end, color-managed workflows or challenging lighting conditions, a new nano-texture glass option comes to iPad Pro for the first time. 1 Nano-texture glass is precisely etched at a nanometer scale, maintaining image quality and contrast while scattering ambient light for reduced glare. With its breakthrough tandem OLED technology, extreme brightness, incredibly precise contrast, brilliant colors, and nano-texture glass option, the new Ultra Retina XDR display is the world’s most advanced display, giving iPad Pro customers an unparalleled viewing experience.

The incredibly thin and light design and game-changing display of the new iPad Pro is only possible with M4, the next generation of Apple silicon that delivers a huge leap in performance. M4 is built on second-generation 3-nanometer technology that’s even more power efficient, which is perfect for the design of the new iPad Pro. With an entirely new display engine, M4 introduces pioneering technology for the stunning precision, color, and brightness of the Ultra Retina XDR display. The new CPU offers up to four performance cores and now six efficiency cores, 2 with next-generation machine learning (ML) accelerators, to deliver up to 1.5x faster CPU performance over M2 in the previous-generation iPad Pro. 3 M4 builds on the GPU architecture of M3 — the 10-core GPU includes powerful features like Dynamic Caching, and hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing, which come to iPad for the first time. Coupled with higher unified memory bandwidth, pro rendering apps like Octane will see up to 4x faster performance than M2. 3 M4 also delivers tremendous gains and industry-leading performance per watt. Compared to M2, M4 can deliver the same performance using just half the power, and compared to the latest PC chip in a thin and light laptop, M4 can deliver the same performance using just a quarter of the power. 4 A new advanced Media Engine includes support for AV1 decode, providing more power-efficient playback of high-resolution video experiences from streaming services.

The new iPad Pro with M4 features Apple’s most powerful Neural Engine ever, capable of 38 trillion operations per second, which is 60x faster than Apple’s first Neural Engine in the A11 Bionic chip. Combined with next-generation ML accelerators in the CPU, a high-performance GPU, more memory bandwidth, and intelligent features and powerful developer frameworks in iPadOS, the Neural Engine makes the new iPad Pro an outrageously powerful device for AI. With iPad Pro with M4, users can perform AI-enabled tasks even faster, like easily isolate a subject from its background in 4K video with just a tap with Scene Removal Mask in Final Cut Pro. With this advanced level of performance, the Neural Engine in M4 is more powerful than any neural processing unit in any AI PC today.

iPadOS also has advanced frameworks like Core ML that make it easy for developers to tap into the Neural Engine to deliver phenomenal AI features locally, including running powerful diffusion and generative AI models, with great performance on device. iPad Pro also supports cloud-based solutions, enabling users to run powerful productivity and creative apps that tap into the power of AI, such as Copilot for Microsoft 365 and Adobe Firefly.

The updated camera system on the new iPad Pro delivers even more versatility, and with its rich audio from four studio-quality mics, users can shoot, edit, and share all on one device. The 12MP back camera captures vibrant Smart HDR images and video with even better color, improved textures, and detail in low light. It also now features a new adaptive True Tone flash that makes document scanning on the new iPad Pro better than ever. Using AI, the new iPad Pro automatically identifies documents right in the Camera app, and if a shadow is in the way, it instantly takes multiple photos with the new adaptive flash, stitching the scan together for a dramatically better scan.

On the front, the TrueDepth camera system moves to the landscape location on the new iPad Pro. The Ultra Wide 12MP camera with Center Stage makes the experience of video conferencing in landscape orientation even better, especially when iPad is attached to a Magic Keyboard or Smart Folio.

iPad Pro includes a high-performance USB-C connector with support for Thunderbolt 3 and USB 4, delivering fast wired connectivity — up to 40Gb/s. Thunderbolt supports an extensive ecosystem of high-performance accessories, including external displays like the Pro Display XDR at its full 6K resolution, and external storage, all connected using high-performance cables and docks. iPad Pro supports Wi-Fi 6E for super-fast Wi-Fi connections for pro workflows on the go. Wi-Fi + Cellular models with 5G allow users to access their files, communicate with colleagues, and back up their data in a snap while on the go. Cellular models of the new iPad Pro are activated with eSIM, a more secure alternative to a physical SIM card, allowing users to quickly connect and transfer their existing plans digitally, and store multiple cellular plans on a single device. Customers can easily get connected to wireless data plans on the new iPad Pro in over 190 countries and regions around the world without needing to get a physical SIM card from a local carrier.

Apple Pencil Pro features even more magical capabilities and powerful new interactions that take the Apple Pencil experience even further. A new sensor in the barrel can sense a user’s squeeze, bringing up a tool palette to quickly switch tools, line weights, and colors, all without interrupting the creative process. A custom haptic engine delivers a light tap that provides confirmation when users squeeze, use double-tap, or snap to a Smart Shape for a remarkably intuitive experience. A gyroscope allows users to roll Apple Pencil Pro for precise control of the tool they’re using. Rotating the barrel changes the orientation of shaped pen and brush tools, just like pen and paper. And with Apple Pencil hover, users can visualize the exact orientation of a tool before making a mark.

With these advanced features, Apple Pencil Pro allows users to bring their ideas to life in entirely new ways, and developers can also create their own custom interactions. Apple Pencil Pro brings support for Find My for the first time to Apple Pencil, helping users locate Apple Pencil Pro if misplaced. It pairs, charges, and is stored on the side of iPad Pro through a new magnetic interface. iPad Pro also supports Apple Pencil (USB-C), ideal for note taking, sketching, annotating, journaling, and more, at an incredible value.

Designed for the new iPad Pro, an all-new thinner and lighter Magic Keyboard makes it more portable and versatile than ever. The new Magic Keyboard opens to the magical floating design that customers love, and now includes a function row for access to features like screen brightness and volume controls. It also has a gorgeous aluminum palm rest and larger trackpad that’s even more responsive with haptic feedback, so the entire experience feels just like using a MacBook. The new Magic Keyboard attaches magnetically, and the Smart Connector immediately connects power and data without the need for Bluetooth. The machined aluminum hinge also includes a USB-C connector for charging. The new Magic Keyboard comes in two colors that perfectly complement the new iPad Pro: black with a space black aluminum palm rest, and white with a silver aluminum palm rest.

The new Smart Folio for iPad Pro attaches magnetically and now supports multiple viewing angles for greater flexibility. Available in black, white, and denim, it complements the colors of the new iPad Pro.

iPadOS is packed with features that push the boundaries of what’s possible on iPad. With Reference Mode, iPadOS can precisely match color requirements of the Ultra Retina XDR display for tasks in which accurate colors and consistent image quality are critical — including review and approve, color grading, and compositing. Stage Manager enables users to work with multiple overlapping windows in a single view, resize windows, tap to switch between apps, and more. With full external display support of up to 6K, iPad Pro users can also extend their workflow, as well as use the built-in camera on an external display for enhanced video conferencing. Users can take advantage of the powerful AI capabilities in iPad Pro and intelligent features in iPadOS, including Visual Look Up, Subject Lift, Live Text, or Live Captions and Personal Voice for accessibility.

With iPadOS 17 , users can customize the Lock Screen to make it more personal — taking advantage of the larger display on iPad — and interactive widgets take glanceable information further with the ability to get tasks done right in the moment with just a tap. The Notes app gives users new ways to organize, read, annotate, and collaborate on PDFs, and working with PDFs is also easier with AutoFill, which intelligently identifies and fills fields in forms.

Logic Pro for iPad 2 , available starting Monday, May 13, introduces incredible studio assistant features that augment the music-making process and provide artists help right when they need it — all while ensuring they maintain full creative control. These features include Session Players, which expand on popular Drummer capabilities in Logic to include a new Bass Player and Keyboard Player; ChromaGlow, to instantly add warmth to tracks; and Stem Splitter, to extract and work with individual parts of a single audio recording.

Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 , available later this spring, introduces Live Multicam, a new feature that transforms iPad into a mobile production studio, allowing users to view and control up to four connected iPhone and iPad devices wirelessly. 5 To support Live Multicam, an all-new capture app also comes to iPad and iPhone, Final Cut Camera, 6 giving users control over options like white balance, ISO, and shutter speed, along with monitoring tools like overexposure indicators and focus peaking. Final Cut Camera works as a standalone capture app or with Live Multicam. Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 also allows users to create or open projects from external storage, giving editors even more flexibility, and offers new content options. 7

The new iPad Pro is designed with the environment in mind, including 100 percent recycled aluminum in the enclosure, 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in all magnets, and 100 percent recycled gold plating and tin soldering in multiple printed circuit boards. The new iPad Pro meets Apple’s high standards for energy efficiency, and is free of mercury, brominated flame retardants, and PVC. The packaging is 100 percent fiber-based, bringing Apple closer to its goal to remove plastic from all packaging by 2025.

Today, Apple is carbon neutral for global corporate operations, and by 2030, plans to be carbon neutral across the entire manufacturing supply chain and life cycle of every product.
