How to Use These Presentation Images

So now that we’ve shown you over 700 of the thousands of presentation images we have available for free use, we know what you’re thinking.

How can you use these photos in a presentation? And furthermore, how can you use them and ensure your slides still look well designed ?

There are several different ways to use images in your presentations, so let’s go over how you can do these right in Visme’s presentation maker.

Color Overlay

how to use presentation images - color overlay

A color overlay is a transparent color on top of a photo. These are great to use when you want to add a photo onto a slide for emphasis, but you still need to include text on the slide.

Because it tends to be difficult to see text directly on top of a bright, busy photo, a color overlay is a great way to soften the photo and ease it into the background.

You can create a color overlay in Visme by clicking the Filter setting, choosing your color and selecting the opacity percentage. Check out a few other photo filter options here .

how to use presentation images - color overlay

Create an accent in your slide by using an accent photo. The photo can be in the corner of your slide, covering the top or bottom half, taking up the left or right side or even right in the middle of your slide with your content surrounding it.

You can easily create an accent photo by selecting your photo from our photo library or uploading your own, then sizing it and dragging it to the area you want to accentuate.

how to use presentation images - background

You can easily upload a background photo by clicking the slide background and selecting a photo from the stock image library.

If the photo doesn’t fit perfectly, you can drag it around to ensure the area that you want to be visible is shown in your slide.

When using a background image with no color overlay, it’s a good idea to choose a photo with a lot of white space. This allows you to add visuals to your presentation slide while also including copy from your slide content.

how to use presentation images - cropped photo

If you’ve found a photo that is partially perfect, don’t worry. You can quickly and easily crop photos directly in the Visme design dashboard so that you’re only showcasing the part of the image that you want to be visible on your slide.

To crop a photo, select the Crop setting and drag the corners until the area that you want to see is selected. Then click Apply .

how to use presentation images - cropped photo

Last, but not least, is our feature image.

If you’ve found a photo that conveys your messaging perfectly, but you don’t want any text to distract your audience, you can include it as a feature image on a slide.

All you do is upload it as a background image or resize it so it covers the entire screen and let your words speak for themselves.

Not every slide needs to have copy on it. You can include feature images every few slides so that your audience still has something engaging to look at while you continue speaking.

Unsplash free stock photo sources for PowerPoint presentations

Source: Unsplash

Information about Unsplash?

One of the best-known websites for royalty-free images is Unsplash. It offers a large collection of free high-resolution photos and has become one of the best sources for stock photos. You will not find the average "stock photos" here. The content is donated by experienced photographers and some of them are really unique pieces. The Unsplash team combs through new submissions and presents the best photos on their homepage.

The Unsplash search function is the fastest way to find a picture. In addition, collections offer a way to view sorted content. For example, you can find pictures on specific topics such as nature, office, work, and more. It is even possible to create your own collections after you have created your own account. Custom folders are useful for collecting inspiration and resources for a project, for example.

Which license model does Unsplash use?

All photos on the site can be copied, modified, distributed, and used under the CC0 license, mostly without asking permission or mentioning names. However, Unsplash suggests that you voluntarily credit the photographer and as a courtesy add a simple link back to a photographer's Unsplash profile. For example: "the picture shown here was taken by Max Mustermann."

Unsplash directly integrates into PowerPoint – with empower ® !

The PowerPoint add-In empower® for PowerPoint offers the possibility to search for Unsplash images within PowerPoint. Through our unique Unsplash integration , you can search for Unsplash images, icons, and more directly in PowerPoint, and insert them immediately. If you want to fill an image placeholder, the empower ® Library opens with the integrated Unsplash search.  You can try out a free trial version of empower ® at any time and test the advantages yourself!

2. Gratisography

  • High-resolution and high-contrast photos
  • New photos weekly
  • Unique photos
  • More than 500 specialty photos
  • Fun-loving style

gratisography free stock photo sources for PowerPoint presentations

Source: Gratisography

Information about Gratisography?

Gratisography is the world's weirdest collection of high-resolution free stock photos, by photographer and graphic designer Ryan McGuire. His photos often have a surreal touch and offer a good change when you cannot stand to see yet more boring, clichéd stock photos. They fit perfectly into Instagram posts or visual communications aimed at a young audience. Gratisography may not have as much content as some other free stock photo websites, but McGuire's creative eye balances this out and he adds new images every week.

Which licensing model does Gratisography use?

Gratisography uses a custom license, similar to Creative Commons Zero (CC0), which is free of copyright restrictions. Again, it is not necessary to mention McGuire when you use his work, but he appreciates it if you do.

  • Photos, vectors, videos, and illustrations
  • Nearly 2 million public domain images
  • Clearly arranged website

pixabay free stock photo sources for PowerPoint presentations

Source: Pixabay

Information about Pixabay?

Pixabay is a community of photographers who have uploaded a huge collection of public domain photos, illustrations, vectors, and even a handful of videos. The quality of the photos is not consistently high but more than 1 million files are updated regularly so you can usually find new and less-used images. The selection of landscape photographs is particularly large and the "Editor's Choice" is worth a look if you do not have anything specific in mind. Otherwise, the content is a bit more focused on business and marketing, which can often be helpful for content marketers and bloggers.

Despite a lot of content, Pixabay is easy to navigate. Pixabay's picture search is in German as well as English. You can browse by photographer, camera type, and "Editor's Choice". Even better: You can filter by orientation, category, size, and color. When you download the images you want, you can also specify file size (print projects require a much higher resolution than online projects).

Which license model does Pixabay use?

Pixabay employs a proprietary license agreement that allows commercial use for both digital and printed materials without the need for attribution, similar to CC0, but introduces a sensitive-use clause that restricts redistribution and resale of unmodified images. Pixabay also strongly reminds you to check that the content displayed on the images does not infringe any rights.

Pexels is a particularly good choice for web or app designers as it includes an excellent selection of device images that are ideal for displaying mockups.

Which license model does Pexels use?

Pexel uses the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. You can use and modify the images free of charge for both commercial and personal use without attribution. Pexels also has its own license, which defines what you can and cannot do with the images.

10. SplitShire

splitshire free stock photo sources for PowerPoint presentations

Source: SplitShire

Information about SplitShire?

SplitShire is definitely a top tip for royalty-free images, with more than 1,000 free stock photos and free video content. This unique collection of photography by Daniel Nanescu offers high-quality content that you will not find anywhere else. The photos are artistic, trendy, and professional quality with great commercial value, ideal for websites, ads, blog posts, or artistic projects.

Which license model does Splitshire use?

Similar to other providers, Splitshire uses the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) License - free use for commercial purposes with a sensitive-usage clause. You cannot resell images as downloaded: you must modify the image for resale.

Beware a common mistake when using free images in PowerPoint presentations!

mistakes free images free stock photo sources for PowerPoint presentations

Are you looking for free images on Google that are available for royalty-free download for use in your blog posts, PowerPoint presentations, or social media content? If so, be sure to avoid a common mistake.

Using random photos from the Internet can quickly lead to litigation. All images on the Web are protected by copyright. Even if the copyright is not mentioned, you should assume that it is. Using these images without a license is illegal. There are cases, for example, where fines have been levied for using an image without a license.

hbspt.cta._relativeUrls=true;hbspt.cta.load(5147894, 'bd918f11-2aec-4f51-b685-4506e5ea38f8', {"useNewLoader":"true","region":"na1"});

Short note on licenses.

As mentioned above, you should observe the license terms for images from the Internet. Although all mentioned photo libraries are cost- and royalty-free images. Always read the license terms and observe the license for every image. After that, you should be able to copy, modify, distribute, and use free images without restriction, even for commercial purposes.

Almost all free stock providers use the Creative Commons Zero license (CC0).

The CC0 license allows copyright holders to share their works without any restrictions. This means that you can copy, adapt, or distribute the images - even for commercial purposes - without having to ask for the author's permission.

Which stock photos cost money?

iStockphoto (Getty Images), Adobe Stock and Shutterstock are the most popular sites for paid stock photos. These providers offer a large selection of different images. But with a little effort, you can find these kinds of photos at royalty-free providers. If you are still unsure about the use of royalty-free images, you can buy images, including licenses, from these providers. In the long run, this can be quite expensive, so you should take a look at free stock photo providers.

Inserting images efficiently into PowerPoint presentations:

Now that you have found the perfect image that also fits your brand style guide , you want to include it in your PowerPoint presentation. Regardless of which stock photo provider you use, you should save your images optimized for the web or your PowerPoint presentation so that your homepage/presentation always loads quickly.

Brief instructions on how to insert images easily into your presentation:

Part 1. Compress Photos in PowerPoint

Part 2. compress photos for powerpoint with less quality loss, part 3. faqs about compressing photos in powerpoint, how to compress images in powerpoint [beginner’s guide].

Yes, you have read it right! You can compress images in PowerPoint . This feature can be extremely useful when you're working with high-resolution images on your presentation and sending them via email, where file size limitations often apply.

In this guide, we'll walk you through the simple steps to compress them easily, helping you manage your file sizes efficiently while maintaining the visual appeal of your presentations. Whether you're a beginner or just looking to brush up on your PowerPoint skills, you'll find this guide invaluable. Let’s get started!

Compress Photos in Powerpoint

Sometimes, when we create or prepare a presentation in PowerPoint, we include photos, graphics saved in PNG or JPG, and more. Well, there’s nothing wrong with this; it’s actually a good way to improve the visuals of the presentations. However, there are images that come in large sizes, which, when pasted or attached in PPT, the file won't load well. That’s why there’s a built-in feature where you can directly compress photos in PowerPoint to really optimize them when used in presentations.

2 Methods to Compress Photos in PowerPoint on Windows

Method 1. Compressing a Single Image in PowerPoint

Step 1 . On your PowerPoint, go to the Insert tab and click on Insert Pictures . This will allow you to import the pictures that you want to compress.

Step 2 . After that, click the photo that you want to compress, and under the Picture Format tab, click on Compress Pictures.

Step 3 . Now, choose your compression options. If you only have one photo to compress, then click on Apply only to this picture. If you have cropped your photo, you can also click on the Delete cropped areas of pictures. Once done, just click OK.

Compress Photos in Powerpoint Resolution

This method is ideal if you only have one photo to compress. By compressing one image, you do not affect the qualities of other photos. However, a compressed image has an obvious quality loss.

Method 2. Compressing Multiple Pictures in PowerPoint

The only thing here is that you are compressing multiple images, but the steps are just almost the same.

Step 1 . First, import your images by going to the Insert tab and choosing Insert Pictures .

Step 2 . Next, right-click and select all the Photos. After that, go to the Picture Format tab and click Compress Pictures.

Compress Multiple Photos in Powerpoint Compress

Step 3 . The same with method 1, choose your compression options. If you have cropped your photo, click on the Delete cropped areas of pictures. For the resolution, just choose the quality that you prefer to apply for your photo. Once done, just click OK.

Ompress Multiple Photos in Powerpoint Resolution

Meanwhile, this method is great if you have a bunch of pictures on your slide and you want to compress them all at once. This will lessen the amount of time compressing each of the photos on PowerPoint just to optimize them. However, just like compressing a single picture, compressing photos in PowerPoint affects the quality of the photo.

Compress Photos in PowerPoint on Mac

There's a difference when it comes to compressing photos in PowerPoint on Mac. The good news is that the steps aren’t really hard.

Method 1. How to Compress a Single Image in PowerPoint

Step 1 . On your Mac, launch PowerPoint and open the PPT file that contains the image that you want to compress.

Step 2 . Now, from the File Menu select Reduce File Size .

Compress Image in ppt Mac Reduce File Size

Step 3 . On the popup dialog, select Email 96 ppi from the Picture Quality drop-down list and click the Delete cropped areas of pictures. Next, since we are only compressing one image here, choose Selected pictures only.

Compress Image in ppt Mac Compress

Step 4 . Lastly, click OK .

While this offers a direct compression of a single photo, this particular method is not ideal if you are aiming to create a quality and visually appealing presentation.

Method 2. How to Compress Multiple Pictures in PowerPoint

Step 1 . Now, from the File Menu select Reduce File Size .

Compress Multiple Image in Ppt Mac Reduce File Size

Step 2 . Just like in method 1, select Email 96 ppi from the Picture Quality drop-down list and click the Delete cropped areas of pictures. Next, select All pictures in this file option since you are compressing multiple images.

Compress Multiple Image in Ppt Mac Compress

Step 3 . Lastly, click OK .

This method really streamlines the process of optimizing the photos in PowerPoint to save more space. If you prefer, you can also resize images in PowerPoint . However, quality loss of your images is inevitable.

We understand the convenience of compressing photos in PowerPoint because it is direct and won’t take a lot of time. However, there are methods that compress photos for PowerPoint that retain the quality but reduce the file size significantly. They may not be direct, but the steps won’t take you so long, just for the sake that you can add quality compressed photos to your presentation.

The best tool for this is the FVC Free Image Compressor . It is completely free and can easily be accessed online, making it a perfect choice for users who need efficient and effective image compression without any hassle.

Compressing images within PowerPoint can significantly reduce file size without compromising visual quality, helping to optimize your presentation for sharing or storage.

Elton John praises Trump's 'hilarious' nickname for Kim Jong Un: 'Good on you, Donald'

WASHINGTON (TND) — Legendary singer Elton John on Sunday told Variety former President Donald Trump’s previous use of his popular song “Rocket Man” was “hilarious.”

Trump during his presidency referred to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as "Rocket Man." The leader at the time was amassing and testing an arsenal of missiles.

Trump used the barb frequently, even while addressing the U.N.

“Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime,” he said in 2017 before the UN General Assembly. “The United States is ready, willing and able [to respond], but hopefully this will not be necessary.”

John explained Monday he was amused by the use of “Rocket Man.”

I laughed, I thought it was brilliant,” he said. “I just thought ‘good on you, Donald, I’m the Rocket Man.’”

“Donald’s always been a fan of mine, and he’s been to my concerts many, many times,” John continued. “I’ve always been friendly toward him, and I thank him for his support. Yeah, when he did that, I just thought it was hilarious.”

President Joe Biden in 2022 awarded John the National Humanities Medal after hosting him for a performance at the White House.

“Seamus Heaney once wrote, and I quote, ‘Once in a lifetime, the longed-for tidal wave of justice can rise up, and hope and history rhyme,'" Biden said at the time. "Throughout his incredible career, Sir Elton John has been that tidal wave, a tidal wave to help people rise up and make hope and history rhyme.”

Trump had asked John to perform at his 2017 inauguration, but the singer declined, saying he didn’t think it was appropriate given his British roots.

Design top tips

As the design will become the official Black Card for the film, please ensure children leave a space for the age rating symbol, film title and BBFC content advice. We will add other important information (the signatures of our CEO and President,in the other important information (the signatures of our CEO and President who approve each decision, the film's unique code, and our BBFC logo).

  • Bright, colourful designs that fill the box will produce the best results
  • Any medium can be used: felt tip, crayon, paint inks etc. Colouring pencils can be used, but they don’t tend to show up the best on the big screen, so we recommend using pens instead
  • No glitter
  • If creating a collage, please do not make the sheet thicker than two pieces of paper.
  • Please don't fold the artwork, use staples or sellotape
  • Avoid metallic finishes over large areas
  • Most importantly, make sure the design is inspired by the Sonic the Hedgehog universe

See the previous winning designs for Puss In Boots: The Last Wish , Jurassic World: Dominion   and Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil  for inspiration.
