Rounding to the nearest 10 Worksheets

When you are rounding a number to the nearest 10, you are trying to find out which multiple of 10 your number is closest to.

The golden rule with rounding is that if a number is exactly halfway between two multiples of 10, you always round up.

How to round a number to the nearest 10

Look at the ones digit.

  • if it is less than 5 then round the number down by changing the ones digit to zero;
  • if it is 5 or more then round the number up by adding one on to the tens digit and changing the ones digit to zero.
  • 37 rounds up to 40 because the ones digit is 7.
  • 63 rounds down to 60 because the ones digit is 3.
  • 145 rounds up to 150 because the ones digit is a 5.

Here you will find a range of free printable math worksheets to help your child learn to round numbers to the nearest 10.

These sheets are carefully graded so that the easier sheets come first and give extra support.

The numbers in Sheets 1 to 4 go up to 100. Sheets 5 & 6 go up to 1000.

Each sheets comes with a separate printable answer sheet.

Using these sheets will help your child to:

Rounding Word Problems Worksheets

In these free math worksheets, students practice how to use rounding to estimate and check the answers to word problems.

How to use estimation or rounding? Estimation or rounding is a useful tool for checking answers because it allows you to quickly determine if an answer is reasonable or not.

Here are some steps you can follow to use estimation to check an answer: Step 1: Make sure you understand what you are being asked to find and what information you have been given. Step 2: Round any numbers given in the problem to the nearest whole number, or to the nearest ten, hundred, or thousand, depending on the level of accuracy needed. Step 3: Use mental math to perform calculations quickly. For example, if you need to add 23 and 45, round them both to 20 and 50 and add those instead. This will give you an estimate that is close to the actual answer. Step 4: Once you have an estimate, compare it to the actual answer you calculated. If the estimate is close to the actual answer, you can be confident that your calculation is correct. If the estimate is significantly different from the actual answer, you may need to review your work and make corrections.

By using estimation to check your answers, you can catch errors early and avoid making mistakes that could lead to incorrect results.

Round to the Nearest Ten Calculator

Meaning of rounding to ten, round to the nearest ten calculator, rounding ride at omni.

At some point in our lives, we need to round off numbers, which is why we created a "round to the nearest ten calculator". It is a one-stop solution to rounding numbers to their nearest tens . But if you need to know,

  • The meaning of rounding to ten; or
  • How to round to the nearest ten;

we still have you covered.

Consider the number 32 . According to the place value system , it is made of two numbers, 30 at the ten's position and 2 at the one's . The next ten is 40. But now observe, which one is closer to 32? Is it 30 or 40? Yes, you are right, it is 30.

This is the science behind rounding to the nearest ten. The rounding rules apply as usual. But here, you round the ten using the number at one's position. It means that if the number at one's is greater than 4, then we round up. Otherwise, we round down.

Let's consider an example. Suppose you want to round 47 47 47 to the nearest ten. Note the number at one's, 7 , is greater than four. Hence, we round up, and the number 47 now becomes 50 50 50 .

Suppose another number, 573 573 573 . Here the number at one's position is 3 , which obviously is less than four. Hence we round down, and the number 573 now becomes 570 570 570 . Notice how we didn't use or change the number at the hundred's position; that would only happen if we were rounding to the nearest hundred.

Our round to the nearest ten calculator is unique but easy to use . To round to ten, all you have to do is enter your desired number. And that is all. The rest will be handled efficiently by the tool. The rounded to ten number is displayed in the result.

For instance, you input 7689 7689 7689 ; the tool displays the result as 7690 7690 7690 . Since the 9, at one's, is greater than 4, the 89 is rounded up to 90. And the number becomes 7690.

And that is how to round to the nearest ten.

We made sure to create enough rounding tools for you to keep coming back for all your number rounding needs. Here is a list of Omni's rounding calculators:

  • Rounding calculator ;
  • Round to the nearest thousand calculator ;
  • Round to the nearest thousandth calculator ;
  • Round to the nearest hundred calculator ;
  • Round to the nearest hundredth calculator ;
  • Round to the nearest tenth calculator ;
  • Round to the nearest integer calculator ;
  • Round to the nearest dollar calculator ;
  • Round to the nearest cent calculator ; and
  • Round to the nearest penny calculator .

What is 22 rounded to the nearest ten?

22 rounded to its nearest ten is 20 .

Since 20 is closer than 30 to 22, the number is rounded down. But the principle here is to check the number at one's position. If it is greater than 4, the number is rounded up, else rounded down.

How do I convert a number to the nearest ten?

To round a number to the nearest ten, follow the steps:

  • Note down the number to be rounded;
  • Identify the number at the one's position
  • If the one's number is larger than 4 , round up the number at the ten . Otherwise, round it down.

Is a number at ten the same as tenth?

No, the number at ten is different than the number at tenth .

In the place value system, the number at ten is the one left to the number at one's. The tenth number exists only in decimals and is right after the decimal point.

In 85.2 , 80 is ten, 5 is one, and 2 is the tenth.

Reasoned Rounding printable sheet

This is a rounding game for two players.

11 circles, each split in half, with labels from 0 to 100 counting up in 10s

You will need a  recording sheet  shared between the two players. One sheet is enough for three games. The first player rolls a 0-9 dice twice and chooses which two-digit number they would like to make from the numbers rolled. They then round this number to the nearest 10, find the matching circle on the recording sheet and write their two digit number in one of the spaces in that circle. The second player rolls the dice twice to take their turn in a similar way. A circle is complete when it has two numbers in it and this scores a point for the person who wrote the second number in. (Even if the first number was written in by the other player.) The game is over when all the circles are full and then the points are counted up to find the winner.
