Nothing excites an adventurous person more than a new experience and an opportunity to get out of their comfort zone.

Not all people are adventurous by nature, but lots of people can learn from adventurous people, who seem to know how to get happiness out of everything and anything in life.

An adventurous person is a person willing to take chances — someone who is fond of risks and excitement, and inclined to undertake new experiences.

Being adventurous is a personality and adventurous people have certain traits that make them who they are. Their personality traits can be very desirable from a person who might not feel as adventurous or courageous .

We can learn a lot from and aspire to eventually gain the courage and strength to pick up some of the characteristics of an adventurous person and then maybe we will live a more fun life and have even more stories to tell.

If you're wondering what it takes to become an adventurous person, then you need to know what traits make a person adventurous.

RELATED:  These Adventurous Zodiac Signs Live Life On The Edge

1. They don't hesitate to leave their comfort zone.

In fact, most adventurous people don't know what a comfort zone even is. If you asked them how they step out of their comfort zone they would say everything is in their comfort zone.

There's nothing that an adventurous person wouldn't try and that's what makes them unlike any other person.

They are so brave, daring, a bit risky, and always enthusiastic. You have a lot to learn from an adventurous person if you have trouble stepping out of your comfort zone.

2. They like nonconformity.

Adventurous people are known for liking the idea of nonconformity as they live by their own code of life and way of being. They are only influenced by themselves and their own interests. No one else can persuade them into doing or not doing something.

If they want to go on an adventure, no matter how dangerous, no one can stop them. They also aren't influenced by the norms of society and aren't ever persuaded by what other people do, unless they are also interested in something similar already.

3. They know how to say "yes."

It's okay to say no sometimes to things in life, but when it comes to any and all adventures or opportunities of a lifetime, without a doubt, an adventurous person will say yes. They never turn down an opportunity to have an adventure and to be able to create a story.

No matter if the adventure or challenge seems risky or dangerous they will say yes. They aren't even scared by risky situations as adventurous people find them inspiring and stimulating.

4. They live for a challenge.

Adventurous people love to put themselves to the test and see how strong they are mentally and physically. There is no challenge in life that they won't say yes to.

They love the thrill of a high-risk adventure no matter how dangerous it is. Some adventurous people even go so far as to call themselves daredevils and like life-or-death adventures.

5. They're spontaneous.

Adventurous people like to take life by the reins and let it lead them to wherever, and because of this, an adventurous person doesn't like a strict routine. They need to have the opportunity and space to be free and make their own choices without being tied down to responsibilities or the same old boring routine.

They love adding encouraging experiences scattered about throughout their week so they never get bored or feel lazy.

6. They're independent.

The belief that everyone should be independent is something that adventurous people take to heart. Adventurous people believe that everyone in this world should feel free to be themselves and be responsible for themselves in life.

They don't really worry too much or at all about others in life unless of course, it were a really close family member or something. Even then, an adventurous person would want the ones they love to have a similar outlook as them on being independent.

7. They want to explore the world.

The best thing about an adventurous person is their ambition and goal to see the whole world maybe even all seven continents. There are never any boundaries for them and they love flying free and exploring wherever, whenever, and with whoever.

They can turn anything anywhere into an adventure and that's really inspiring.

8. They are very persuasive.

Even though an adventurous person is capable of traveling alone and exploring by themselves it's hard for them not to convince others to come with them. They might be telling a friend about their upcoming trip or a family member and it sounds too good to miss out on, they might even convince that person to go with them.

Adventurous people are also great to have as a friend as they are perfect motivators and positive energy people. They will even help persuade you to do what you have been afraid or scared to do and you can learn to be less scared and more courageous from an adventurous person.

9. They don't believe in dreams, only realities.

Dreams aren't only dreams for an adventurous person, dreams are their reality. They can make any dream come true, especially if it comes with adventure. There is no force in the world that will stop their fearless spirit.

They will not let their dreams be unfulfilled. Nothing will stop them from making their dreams come true, they just do it.

10. They encourage wanderlust.

Adventurous people love to always be moving in life. They never want to settle down because they always have the urge to pick up and go or move out and move on.

There's nothing that will stop them from exploring. They also don't worry about finding work to do as they live by their talents, ingenuity, and wits.

11. They see life lessons in all experiences.

There is nothing a true adventurer believes in more than life lessons. There are no bad experiences for them, only things to learn from and move forward with.

Being a daring person has both advantages and disadvantages. However, adventurous people know how to turn those disadvantages into life lessons and turn them around in a more positive outlook.

Learning from mistakes and bad experiences is very stimulating to them and satisfying. They learn from past experiences and know what they like and don't like.

12. They have a young spirit and no regrets.

Adventurous people are high-spirited, wild, and fun people who are always looking to have fun and try new things.

They are courageous, bold, tough, and live in the present. They don't waste time regretting things  in life, and live life as a free and youthful spirit, no matter how old they are.

The Health Benefits of Being Adventurous, According to Psychologists

Trying new things and taking on challenges makes you stronger and happier. Here's how to tap into your inner thrill-seeker.

Climbing mountains. Skydiving. Surfing. These are things that might come to mind when you think of adventure.

But it's different for everyone, says Frank Farley, Ph.D. , a professor at Temple University and a former president of the American Psychological Association. For some people, thrill seeking involves mental challenges, like creating art or finding innovative solutions for problems.

Whether it's physical or mental, adventurous behavior makes us feel good: It fires up the same regions of the brain that getting a reward does, according to a study in the journal Neuron . This may be why we're motivated to try new things even when they're intimidating, says study author Bianca Wittmann, Ph.D. , of the Center for Mind, Brain, and Behavior, the University of Marburg, and Justus Liebig University Giessen in Germany.

Over time, adventurous activities may actually improve your brain health, says Abigail Marsh, Ph.D. , a professor of psychology and neuroscience at Georgetown University and the author of Fear Factor . That's because you're constantly learning, which creates new synapses and strengthens existing ones, a process known as neuroplasticity, she says. This can make your brain sharper.

And that's just one of the many things adventure does for you. Here are four more potent perks of being an adventure seeker.

Change Comes More Easily

People who are drawn to thrill-seeking activities have a high tolerance for uncertainty, says Farley. They enjoy engaging with unfamiliar things, are innately curious about the world, and creatively adapt to change instead of being fearful of it.

To nurture this quality in yourself, seek out situations that feel adventurous to you, whether that's taking a drawing class online or signing up for a workout you've never done, he says. Afterward, cement the experience in your mind by thinking about what you gained from it: meeting new people, learning a skill, pushing past your trepidation. Considering the ways you've successfully taken chances will help you see yourself as a more adventurous person, which can make you more courageous in the future. (See: How to Scare Yourself Into Being Stronger, Healthier, and Happier )

Your Confidence Keeps Evolving

Participating in an adrenaline-pumping physical activity can lead to higher levels of what experts call self-efficacy, or a belief in your abilities, research shows. Other types of adventure—running for public office, doing improv at your local comedy club, taking virtual singing lessons—build your confidence too, says Farley. The more you push past your comfort zone and feel proud of yourself for doing so, the more confident you'll become.

A Sense of Flow Takes Over

When you're in the zone, meaning highly focused and engaged, everything else except what you're concentrating on falls away, and a general sense of well-being takes over. "You go out of time, out of yourself," says Marsh. This intense feel-good state is known as the flow, and research shows that participants in adventure sports are able to achieve it. If you looked at our brains in the flow state, you'd likely see rhythmic spikes of dopamine, which is associated with engagement and pleasure, says Marsh. Even better, those positive feelings can last beyond the activity itself.

Life Is Much More Fulfilling

Adventurous people tend to have stronger feelings of satisfaction about how they're living their lives. "They have a sense of flourishing," says Farley. Researchers who have studied this phenomenon say that participating in something challenging is associated with happiness, and that even when the activity itself is difficult, accomplishing it brings joy.

The lesson here: Don't hold back. Pick something you've always shied away from, and vow to conquer it. Tackle it in small doses, says Marsh. That will help you gradually build your mental strength. Also key: training yourself to relax on cue. Regularly practicing breathing exercises and meditation will help you lower your anxiety and embrace the challenge.

In a world that often confines us within the boundaries of routine and familiarity, inviting in adventure can be a powerful catalyst for growth and well-being. The very essence of adventure—stepping beyond comfort zones, facing new challenges, engaging in edgework, and embracing uncertainty—is a gateway accessible to most to personal transformation.

It propels us into experiences that are not only thrilling but also deeply enriching. Adventure, in its many forms, offers more than mere escapism; it provides a unique landscape for cultivating resilience , enhancing self-awareness, and rediscovering the joy of learning through experience.

Whether navigating the rapids of a river, exploring a new culture, or undertaking a creative endeavor, each adventure carries the potential to reshape our perspectives, bolster our mental fortitude, and add a vibrant layer to the tapestry of our lives. In embracing these experiences, we open ourselves to a world of possibilities, learning that the true value of adventure lies not just in the exhilaration of the moment but in the lasting impact it has on our journey towards a resilient self.

Adventure as a Resilience Builder

This is because adventure lies not just in high-arousal states but in its ability to challenge us, push our boundaries, and foster a sense of achievement. This is particularly evident in the context of adventure in nature, where structured activities are not merely recreational but designed to test our limits and enhance our coping strategies.

The COVID-19 pandemic, a period of unprecedented global challenge, provided a testing ground for highlighting the intrinsic value of adventure-based activities. Research during this time underscored the resilience-building aspect of adventure. When the world faced lockdowns and movement restrictions, individuals who regularly engaged in adventure activities demonstrated a unique resilience compared to those who lacked adventure.

Those engaged in adventure applied the mental frameworks developed through their experiences (e.g., adaptability, problem-solving under pressure, and emotional regulation ) to navigate the uncertainties and stressors of the pandemic. Accordingly, it's clear that adventure's benefits extend well beyond leisure.

Why We Should Be "Living"

Adventure is also an essential ingredient of personal growth. Science lays out a compelling case for engaging in activities that bring us joy and challenge us—a concept I refer to as "Living" (as part of the broader PLAY Model ). However, understanding the PLAY Model isn't necessary to acknowledge that enriching experiences (high reward) often come from a combination of high effort and high enjoyment.

Living, in this context, means seeking out and embracing activities that require significant effort (e.g., learning a new skill, tackling a complex challenge, or engaging in physically or mentally demanding tasks). Despite the challenge, we label Living experiences as fun because of the enjoyment and fulfillment they bring.

Embarking on these types of experiences opens a gateway to discovery. As we step into adventure and face new challenges, we have no other option but to learn. Every new obstacle faced, every unexplored territory ventured into, is an opportunity to become more knowledgeable. We uncover hidden strengths and develop valuable skills. These experiences often reveal inner courage we might not have found otherwise.

Moreover, venturing into uncharted territories is not merely an escape from the mundane; science suggests it's a vital exercise for our brains. Engaging in adventures stimulates our ability to be adaptative and problem-solve. Yes, we make amazing memories and have wonderful stories to tell, but research suggests we are also fostering neuroplasticity.

essay on adventurous person

By creating new synapses and strengthening existing ones, we enhance our brain's health and capacity. Every new adventure, therefore, contributes to making our minds more agile.

Additionally, the role of adventure in building self-confidence is well-studied. Engaging in activities that elevate our adrenaline (epinephrine) levels and push us out of our comfort zone generally leads to higher self-efficacy . When we nurture our awareness that we alone can overcome challenges, this earned internal strength isn't limited to simply overcoming physical barriers.

This skill extends to embracing almost any new role or experience that challenges us mentally and emotionally. Whether navigating a complex problem, embarking on a new career path, or engaging in a new social setting, the confidence gained from adventures and Living activities spills over into various aspects of our lives, too. Simply put, the increased self-confidence built through making time for adventure is instrumental in shaping a more robust and confident self.

The Practical Side of Adventure

So, how do we integrate this understanding into our lives? First, we must cast a wider net when defining adventure. It's not just about scaling mountains or engaging in feats of endurance. Adventure can be found in any activity that pushes us out of our comfort zones and encourages us to engage with the unknown.

Whether tackling a new challenge, navigating an unfamiliar destination, or even engaging in a new cultural experience, these are all forms of adventure that can stimulate personal growth. The key is to seek experiences that stretch us, make us a bit uncomfortable, and require us to adapt and learn.

As we navigate the metaphorical hedonic current , it becomes important to understand adventure's role as a vehicle for growth. It's about steering our lives towards experiences that not only please us but also foster resilience and personal development. In our personal pursuit of happiness, it's best to find opportunities to step beyond our comfort zones and embrace at least some of life's wonderful adventures.

How to Be Adventurous

Last Updated: January 17, 2024 Fact Checked

This article was co-authored by Kirsten Parker, MFA . Kirsten Parker is a Mindset and Action Coach based in her hometown of Los Angeles, California. She helps high achievers overcome stress and self-doubt. She specializes in increasing one's confidence and clarity by incorporating tools from positive psychology, mindful habit change, and self-regulation into her coaching. The formula for adventure is really quite simple: Novelty + courage = adventure. A person with an adventurous spirit might jump out of airplanes, be the first person to volunteer to rescue someone, or even ask someone on a date. You may not be that type of risk-taker. If you get motivated and create a new habit for adventure, then you will be exploring a new world in no time.

Finding Your Motivation

Step 1 Let go of what is holding you back.

  • Ask yourself why you want to be adventurous. What do you think it will provide to you? Do you want to be open to all possibilities? If so, you are correct.

Kirsten Parker, MFA

  • Conquering physical challenges requires you to overcome mental challenges as well. For example, if you train for and climb a mountain it will challenge your physical abilities and show you how physically and mentally strong you are.
  • Do you think you have something to prove? Are you starved for attention? Why are you seeking a thrill? Do you think it will build your self-esteem? Do you just want to have more fun?
  • Take a few minutes to answer these questions as it will help you craft a plan for action.

Step 2 Address your fear.

  • Your fears might include public speaking, snakes, or high places. They may also include talking to strangers, being fired, or flunking a class. They may be rooted in a deeper fear of looking ignorant, being abandoned, or losing your sense of safety.
  • Conquering fear leads to building trust in yourself, your thoughts and actions. You will learn that you can take care of yourself. For example, you may be too afraid to move out of your parent's house because you don't think you can do it. If you choose to be adventurous and move out and see that you can do it, you have conquered your fear.
  • Use visualization techniques. Imagine yourself doing activities that challenge you to be adventurous and you coming out of it alive and healthy. These scenarios can be surfing, racing horses, exploring your musical talents or something smaller like asking an athlete for an autograph. Adventures can be big and small.
  • You may be avoiding adventure due to a fear of uncertainty. You must tip the scales from certain toward uncertain to remove mental obstacles preventing you from being adventurous. For example, if you avoid or procrastinate participating in events because you don't know what is going to happen, then set up small excursions that slowly build a tolerance. [6] X Trustworthy Source HelpGuide Nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free, evidence-based mental health and wellness resources. Go to source

Step 3 Muster your adventurous feelings.

  • If you need to feel safe before you are comfortable doing something new, use meditation and yoga to calm you and relieve stress. Once you establish a sense of safety and calm you will be more open to adventure. For example, you will go on vacation by yourself to Portugal despite not knowing any Portuguese.
  • Give yourself a push toward feeling free. It can be helpful to say self-affirmations like, "Everything is going to be okay; I'm ready to get started; This change is going to be good for me!" Being vocal helps as well. Simply yelling at that moment works to expend the energy to move you forward.
  • Take safety precautions. Being adventurous does not mean that you do things that are unsafe. Physically demanding adventures must include a deliberate evaluation of the dangers involved. For example, if you want to learn to race a boat, you must research the safety requirements. Consulting with a professional is advised. [8] X Research source

Creating a New Habit

Step 1 Explore your interests.

  • If you want to be adventurous in your career, access questionnaires online that help identify your interests. [9] X Research source
  • Talk to people who are doing the things that interest you. Ask them if they have any tips for getting involved.
  • You might discover new interests that you didn't even know about. For example, there might be a martial arts studio that you drive by each day. One day you decide to be adventurous and make a visit. You observe a class and like what you see, and sign up for a class.

Step 2 Pick a role model.

  • Choose a mentor to help you. A mentor can be a friend, family member or someone you are acquainted with at work. Talk to the person and ask, “I am trying to be more adventurous in my life and it seems like you do that really well. Is there any advice you can give me? Would you mind if I checked in with you periodically to talk about this?”
  • You can model your behavior after a professional you don't know. For example, if there is an oceanographer you admire who has a TV show you can watch the show and follow the person on social media. You can ask the person questions via social media channels.

Step 3 Make a plan for adventure.

  • It could be fun to plan an adventure with friends. Discuss and agree to have each person take responsibility for a task that needs to be accomplished. For example, one person can check on airline ticket prices; another person identifies things to do when you are at your destination.
  • Travel around the world. With proper planning it is possible to travel the world in cost-effective ways. It may be cheaper to do than you think. Investigate costs before you allow it to deter you from being adventurous. [12] X Research source

Step 4 Take action.

  • Set your limits and boundaries. [13] X Research source Being adventurous will involve doing things that are outside your comfort zone. You may be comfortable hiking in nature, but you have no interest in skydiving. Be reasonable with yourself and know your limits. Don't be afraid to tell others that you have limits as well.
  • One way to take action is to vary your routine. Avoid getting stuck in a rut doing the same things the same way over and over. Even something as simple as shopping for groceries in a new market will give you a new perspective. Being adventurous can open you to new possibilities. For example, you go to the new market and meet someone who turns out to offer you a job, take you on a date, or he knows someone you grew up with that you haven't seen in years. This would not have happened without you taking adventurous action.

Exploring Your World

Step 1 Find others who share your interests.

  • Locate groups online and screen them for compatibility. For example, if you like computer animation, perhaps you could find a local animation film festival and volunteer to work there. You will meet people who not only share an interest in animation, but you get to learn about the film festival process.
  • Observe bulletin boards at school or in public places. There are groups that meet and are always looking for new members. Take a chance. It might change your life.
  • Attend an event and ask questions. For example, you attend a motorcycle show and ask one of the curators, “This show is fantastic. How does someone get involved in putting something like this on?” Most people will have a short conversation with you that might lead you to something exciting.

Step 2 Exercise your curiosity.

  • Create situations for yourself that will force you out of your comfort zone. Awkwardness is the first step toward learning something new.
  • Read books about things you know nothing about, then make a point to talk to others about it.
  • Talk to people doing jobs that you have never done.
  • Observe people at play, doing their job, or relaxing with friends and family. Notice the things they do that are similar and different than the way you do them. [16] X Trustworthy Source PubMed Central Journal archive from the U.S. National Institutes of Health Go to source

Step 3 Change careers.

  • Develop your resume and examine the skills that you have and how they might apply to a new career.
  • You may need to take additional classes to complete a certificate or degree to enter your new field of interest. This may take time, but the rewards will pay off as long as you see it as a great adventure to make you happy.

Step 4 Consider moving to a new town, city, or country.

  • Make a list of the things in your life that made you feel bad, or caused you to be fearful and added to your lack of adventure. Then, one by one recreate the situations and make things right. If you struck out in a game, join a recreation team and with diligent practice you will be hitting in clutch situations in no time. The key will be for you to acknowledge your efforts even if you aren't a star player.

Step 7 Keep pushing yourself.

  • If you feel yourself settling into a down mood, push yourself to take on a new adventure. Let the rewards boost your mood.
  • Praise yourself for the work you do to be adventurous. Motivate yourself by saying, “You're adventurous because you are living life to the fullest. Congratulations.”

About This Article

Kirsten Parker, MFA

You can be adventurous without changing overnight or immediately doing lots of things you've never done before. Instead, take things one step at a time to help build your confidence and grow your adventurous spirit. For example, you could try out a new restaurant or go to a social event you'd usually avoid. Aim to do at least one adventurous thing per week. Then, when that feels easy, increase the number to 2, 3, or even more! By gradually trying new things, you'll train yourself to be adventurous and to overcome your fears. However, if you find this becomes difficult over time, try making a list of adventurous things you really want to do so you have some things to work toward. Back of an Asian man celebrating on top of cliff overlooking ocean.

The charm of an adventurous person is undeniable. They radiate so much energy and enthusiasm that it almost rubs off on you, but not quite. You’re still the same old you, and they’re off jet-setting to the next exhilarating jaunt. They do, however, leave you with a sense of awe and a desire to do something exciting yourself. What is it about them that’s so ?

An adventurous person has insatiable curiosity. He’s always eager to explore and discover new experiences, places, and cultures. They treat every real-life cliffhanger as something that’s just waiting to be explored, whether it’s an unanswered math problem, a new hobby, or a person they haven’t quite figured out yet. This curiosity can be magnetic and contagious, and according to research in the , it may even make you happier.

Adventure often entails risk and uncertainty, which requires those who love it to possess the courage to step outside their comfort zone and face challenges. While nobody has absolute courage, an adventurous person and pushes past it. If you’re inspired by their courage but aren’t sure where to begin tapping into yours, start by acknowledging your fears and facing them in bite-size pieces.

For example, if you want to do standup comedy but are afraid people won’t laugh at your jokes, perform your routine for your family or film it for your Close Friends list. There are harsh critics everywhere – expose yourself to them in small doses. As the famous Instaquote goes, do it scared.

Adaptability

Flexibility is crucial for adventurers as they encounter unexpected situations and navigate unfamiliar environments. They show adaptability by quickly adjusting to changes, improvising solutions, and making the most out of any circumstance. They’re alert, quick on their feet, and have an awareness of everything around them – all valuable traits in any circumstance, whether you’re in a foreign country or leading an important presentation at work.

Adventure inevitably involves setbacks and obstacles. You could get a flat tire during a biking marathon or spill your last cup of clean water while camping. Resilient individuals view these as challenges rather than reasons to give up. They bounce back with determination and learn from their mistakes so they can do better.

Atomic Habits author James Clear suggests improving mental toughness by pushing yourself every day to achieve small wins, like waking up at 6 a.m. when you’re a late riser or completing your 10,000 steps despite your busy schedule.

While you’re building habits, toughen your skin, hair, and scalp with a consistent personal grooming routine. Use CLEAR Cool Sport Menthol Anti-Dandruff Shampoo for Men to remove dirt and oil to prevent dandruff. Next, wash your face with POND'S Men Facial Wash Energy Charge , an invigorating cleanser that controls oil for up to eight hours.

Open-mindedness

An adventurous person thrives on diversity and new perspectives. They are open-minded and willing to engage with people from different backgrounds, even challenge their own beliefs. They don’t argue with strangers online or feel attacked when people disagree with them. Instead, they express their ideas confidently and listen to the other person’s POV. This openness enhances their experiences and broadens their horizons.

Not to be mistaken for toxic positivity, optimism acknowledges the possibility of failure or disappointment. Someone with an adventurer personality believes in their ability to overcome obstacles and find joy in the journey itself, regardless of the outcome. They ask themselves, “Okay, but what’s going right in my life right now?” This optimism fuels their enthusiasm and inspires others to join them on their adventures.

Passion for Life

Ultimately, an adventurous person approaches life with enthusiasm and seizes every opportunity that comes their way. All the traits above fuel their actions with meaning and purpose, inspiring the people they meet along the way.

Every trip is an adventure and gives us joy. Going out on vacation may not mean a trip. A trip with adventures is completely different. Sometimes the vacation trip also becomes adventurous. Lots of things happen that amaze us. Also in adventures, many dangers take place.

I remember such an adventure I had. It was a horseback ride in the mountains. I was very young when we visited Shimla. We went to the Rohtang Pass. It snowed heavily that day. There was snow all around. So we had to take horses. We climbed high up the mountain. It was so lovely to see nature. I loved it. I remember my horseback ride till now.

Short Essay on My Adventurous Trip in 200 Words

I still remember one thrilling adventurous trip I had. I got scared when it happened. But I also enjoyed it a lot. I was very young when I visited Shimla. I did not know that the adventure would happen. So I just went on a vacation. We had a wonderful train journey to Shimla. Reaching there, we decided to visit Rohtang Pass.

I was so excited! We took a car and went to the slopes. I looked out of the windows. The car was gradually rising to the top. The road was spiel, like a big snake. Soon we reached the hilltop. I jumped out. That day it snowed. So it was all white. I was so happy to see the scene. Then we took a horse to ride. That was the greatest adventure I ever had. It slowly walked up the mountain.

I looked at the sides and saw how deep it was. I felt scared. Suddenly I could not breathe anymore. I felt sick and almost fell off the horseback. My father immediately held me and we came down the slopes. I fainted due to no air. When I got well, the people served me hot soup. He said I was too little. So I easily caught a cold. I still remember how dangerous it was. But still, this adventure is a great memory.

Short Essay on My Adventurous Trip in 400 Words

Adventure and trip are closely connected to each other. It is really hard to avoid adventure from a trip. We often go on vacations. But these are only for fun. So a trip with adventure is different. Adventure makes us a different person. We become strong and brave in an adventure. It is very important to have it in our lives. An adventure is always exciting and amazing.

I was also lucky to have an adventure in my life. I was very little then and did not know about it.  It suddenly happened. We went to Shimla that year. Shimla is always a great place to have fun. And it was the best vacation of my life. My father got us the tickets and we packed our bags. We took the train and went straight from Kolkata to Shimla. I enjoyed the view outside. It was wonderful. When we reached there, I jumped in joy. After two days of reaching Manali, All of us decided to visit it.

We planned to go to Rohtang Pass first. We started our journey. A car was booked. We took it and went to Rohtang. The road was like a snake. It was the first adventure I had there. It went slowly to the hilltop. I felt the cool breeze and looked out. It was so pretty. When we reached the top, I jumped out. It snowed that day. I started playing with it.

But the biggest adventure came after this. We had to take horses to go to the hilltop. I have seen horses in books. But had never ridden them. I clapped my hands in joy. My father and I got onto one. It slowly started moving. I touched the soft mane of the horse and it neighed. Soon we were at the top of the mountain. I looked down and got scared. It was dark. Long waterfalls were falling from the top. I stared at it. Suddenly I could not breathe. I tried hard but failed.

I soon fainted and was about to fall off horseback. But my father immediately caught me and we came down. The people nearby helped me and I opened my eyes. I had turned blue for no air. The people gave me hot soup to drink and feel warm. Gradually I felt better. After this, we left for our hotels. That day I was scared, but today I feel it as my best adventure.
