Stylish Star Allu Arjun has hit the screens today with ‘Julayi’. The film has Ileana as the heroine and Trivikram Srinivas is the director. The movie has been released today in a big way and a lot is riding on the film for both Allu Arjun and Trivikram. Let us see how the movie is.
Ravindra Narain (Allu Arjun) is a very smart guy who believes in making quick money. His father Narayana Murthy (Tanikella Bharani) is against this attitude and believes in hard work. Ravi crosses the path of Bittoo (Sonu Sood) accidentally, while the latter is about to commit a bank robbery to the tune of 1500 Crores. An alert Ravi teams up with Police Commissioner Raja Manikyam (Rao Ramesh) and apprehends Bittoo. This infuriates Bittoo and he swears revenge on Ravi.
A concerned Raja Manikyam sends Ravi off to Hyderabad under a witness protection program. He asks Ravi to stay in the house of his friend,ACP Sitaram (Rajendra Prasad). In Hyderabad, Ravi comes across Madhu (Ileana) and falls in love with her. While this is unfolding, Bittoo makes his own plans to extract revenge. He works with MLA Varadarajulu (Kota Srinivasa Rao) and Travels Murthy (Brahmaji) to achieve his objective.
The rest of the story is about how Ravi and Bittoo face off. Who wins in the end? What happens to Ravi’s love story? That needs to be seen on the big screen.
Plus Points :
Allu Arjun is at his energetic and stylish best in the film. His costumes are cool and his mannerisms are nice. Arjun has used Trivikram’s punch dialogues well. He has performed well in the fight sequences and his dances are brilliant as always. Once again, Allu Arjun shows why he is regarded as one of the best dancers in the industry.
Ileana looks great and has a good romantic track with Allu Arjun in the first half. Her performance has shades from her role in “Jalsa’. Rajendra Prasad is classy and shows yet again why he is such a highly respected actor. He is brilliant as ACP Sitaram. Kota Srinivasa Rao is good.
M.S.Narayana brings about a few laughs. Brahmanandam rocks as thief Brahmam. He has a brilliant episode in the second half with Hema and his mannerisms there are howlarious. Sonu Sood is good as Bittoo and he excels in both the villainous episodes as well as in funny episodes towards the climax. Brahmaji and Tanikella Bharani are alright. Rao Ramesh is decent.
Trivikram’s dialogues deserve special mention. They are outstanding and are used to great effect in the first half. The pace of the first half is very good, and the movie just breezes by with some good Trivikram mark comedy. Songs have been choreographed nicely and they gel with the tempo in the first half.
Ali and Posani make cameo appearances and they are good.
Minus Points :
The second half is a letdown when compared to the first half. The pace of the narration dips a bit. When Trivikram is at the helm, audiences expect stylish and well shot fight sequences. In Julayi, the fight sequences tend to be a little over the top . Cars crashing into each other unrealistically and Scorpios flying are not what we expect from you Trivikram sir.
Romantic track with Ileana has been left incomplete and it has not been properly tied up. Dharmavarapu is routine.
Comedy in the second half may not be easily understood by B and C center crowds as it is subtle. Also, there are some unrealistic aspects in the story line. Allu Arjun behaves like an extra constitutional authority throughout the movie. He keeps accompanying police officers and shoots criminals on the road in broad daylight. Why does the police department put up with it even though Rajendra Prasad is an ACP?
The climax sequence is routine and some of the scenes are again unrealistic. Perhaps Trivikram wanted to play to the masses. The placement of the songs in the second half could have been better.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography is good . Editing is neat in the first half but it could have been better in the second half. Choreography is neat. Trivikram has done a good job in the first half as a director. He could have done better in the second half. As a dialogue writer though, Trivikram scores full marks. The dialogues explode like bullets and they will strike a chord with urban movie lovers.
Devi Sri Prasad’s music is good and background score is decent.
Julayi has a great first half going for it. Trivikram’s stamp can be seen all over it and this half makes for some great entertainment. A slightly below par second half and unnecessarily over the top sequences spoil the flavour a bit. Still, Julayi is a good watch overall. Allu Arjun and Rajendra Prasad excel in this film and you can happily catch Julayi just for them. From a commercial perspective, we have to wait and see how the movie scores in B and C centers as mass crowds might not understand some of the subtler elements in the film.

Julaayi Review
Behind the Movie Julaayi: The spectacular combination of Allu Arjun, Ileana, Trivikram and Devi Sri Prasad is enough to keep the anticipation so high. Amidst a big hype, movie is released today in theatres. Let us see how far Trivikram has spread his magic?
In the Movie Julaayi: Story begins with Narayana (Tanikella Bharani) depositing the money in Vizag Co-Operative Bank which announces high rate of interests. His son Ravindra Narayana aka Ravi (Allu Arjun) is a big Julayi who believes only in earning short term money with less hard work and more intelligence. To win a challenge with his dad, Ravi plans to go for a kill with IPL cricket betting. Incidentally, he meets the gang of Bittu (Sonu Sodd) who are on a mission to rob Vizag Co-Operative Bank with assistance from Minister Varada Rajulu (Kota).
The actual story begins here when like-minded Ravi and Bittu start playing the mind game one over the other. While Bittu jumps with looted money of Rs.1500 Crores, Police Officer Raja Manikyam (Rao Ramesh) with the assistance of Ravi chases Bittu and money. The game gets interesting when Ravi kills Bittu’s brother Lala (Shafi). Then Raja Manikyam sends Ravi to Hyderabad for residing in ACP Seetharam (Rajendra Prasad)’s house in order to escape from the revenge of Bittu. Here Ravi falls in love with Madhu (Ileana). How far Police was successful in catching Bittu? When will Ravi get back into the business to save his family, lover and then bringing Rs.1500 Crores back into bank? Who was helping Bittu from the Police department? All these form the rest.
Values of the Movie Julaayi: The core strengths of ‘Julayi’ are the punching dialogues of Trivikram and first rate performance from Bunny. Very concept of Bank robbery will grab the attention of urban viewers and Trivikram’s handling of key scenes was mind blowing. The speed of narration, action and the strong grip maintained by Trivikram in first half was completely missing in second half. Dialogues wise, there are numerous instances where one can’t keep away from breaking the stomach. Even scripting wise, Trivikram could not maintain his mark in second half where direction too has gone bizarre. Music by Devi Sri Prasad is superb for all the songs and most of them are well picturized. Camerawork of Naidu brothers was also stylish and trendy. Pravin Pudi’s editing was absorbing with Hollywood flavor. Radha Krishna and Danayya’s Production values was top notch.
Performance wise, Allu Arjun was oozing with energy. His comedy timing needs special applause. In dances and action scenes, as usual Bunny was perfect. His romance with Ileana was refreshing. However, the skeleton or zero sized look of Ileana was disappointing. After a very long time Rajendra Prasad got a meaty role in commercial cinema and he became the major asset of ‘Julaayi.’ Not to forget MS Narayana, Brahmanandam who took the fun quotient very high. Villainy of Sonu Sood was regular and his partner Devayani (Sheetal Menon) was hot. While Shafi, Kota and Rao Ramesh roles were ended pitifully, the characters of Dharmavarapu, Brahmaji, Tanikella, Pragathi, Hema, Tulasi etc did their part well. Udayabhanu shined a while in the title song.
Out of the Movie Julaayi: Concepts like Bank robberies need to be quite engaging throughout. Trivikram was successful in mixing entertaining comedy and energetic songs at right doses into the script. Meanwhile, the kind of dedication and soul he put into the first half was not visible in second half. When the conflict of Bunny Vs Sonu is the thin/core concept of story, screenplay and direction needs to have been further more sharpened. Trivikram lost his grip in second half throwing logics to air and went on for mere gap filling. In fact pre-climax was more attacking than the funny climax.
Compared to past few dud projects of Bunny, surely ‘Julaayi’ is a sigh of relief. Trivikram has also put his soul and sweat in making of this project. Audience will easily trace out the shades of ‘Jalsa’ and ‘Athadu’ still haunting this director. Movie would have definitely worked wonders, if the same magic of first half is repeated in second half. In particular, first half was full of acceleration filled with amazing episodes sprinkling humor, action and a clever word play. The latter part which makes audience to anticipate on well execution of mind games between the protagonist and antagonist, the graph falls down consistently to end with an overall above average feel.
Logically, movie might work well in urban centers compared to B & C. With huge number of screens allotted for first week and no big threats in opposition, there is every possibility of ‘Julaayi’ to score big at BO. One has to wait and see how far audience can digest this kind of stylish concepts and especially the second half.
Cinejosh Verdict of Julaayi: Excellent First Half – Exhaustive Second Half.

Movie review: Julayi
- The most anticipated Telugu movie of 2012, Julayi is in no way different from director Trivikram Srinivas's earlier works. The romantic comedy revolves around Ravindra Narayan (played by Allu Arjun) who comes to know about Bittu's (Sonu Sood) plans to rob a bank and gets him arrested. Ravindra shifts to Hyderabad where he meets Madhu (portrayed by Ileana D'Cruz) and falls in love with her. The plot takes a twist when Bittu is released from jail, bent on revenge.
- Allu Arjun has delivered an outstanding performance. He not only succeeds in impressing the viewers with his acting and dancing skills, but also does a good job in imitating actors like NTR, ANR, Krishna, Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh and Pawan Kalyan in the song Mee Intiki Mundo Gate. He is the main attraction of the film without doubt.
- Actress Ileana D'Cruz adds to the glamour quotient while Sonu Sood's villainy is appealing and energetic.
- Brahmanandam, Ali, MS Narayana and Tanikella Bharani impress with praiseworthy comic timing.
- The cinematography by Chota K Naidu and Shyam K Naidu has captured the picturesque locales in a beautiful manner and Devi Sri Prasad's music is commendable.
- Overall, the movie caters to all ages. Watch the movie for its witty dialogues and energetic performances.

True to its name, Julayi is an aimless wanderer, meandering over a lot of wonderful things for the sake of being a masala caper – but ends up being a poor cocktail.

In every mass hero film’s opening shot, as the hero poses in his immaculate signature style, the camera zooms in to capture the gushing zeal of a no-nonsense hero accompanied by an earth shattering buildup of tempo; all for the thundering response it would get in the theatres, all over. Eons have passed and yet we aren’t sure whether the response is for the signature pose or the mere appearance of the mass hero or the wonderful build-up to the fitting coda. But, when Allu Arjun (the mass-hero of Julayi ) comes into the frame as suddenly as a dog crossing the street, we are left with none of the three factors to cheer for the mass-hero. However, the past master that he is, director, Trivikram compensates for that by conjuring an enticing bank robbery as the next scene to show the acumen of our beloved hero.
Julayi , its mass commercial formula notwithstanding, is the story about the clash of intellects. While the protagonist is an impatient youth, who can't wait to climb up the ladder of riches, the antagonist is a self-conceited criminal. While the former tends to bend any rules to achieve his dream, the latter exudes passion for his art of robbery. What binds them together though, is their willpower and unorthodox and yet street smart brain.
With such an alluring concept, Trivikram starts off as a crazy entertainer with some wonderful witty lines thrown in - dialogues have always been Trivikram 's strong hold. Unfortunately, as the game progresses, the dialogues become its own shackle in the incoherent script. Where there should be riveting action & pertinent lines, there is exorbitant action & brimming lines. Not just that; from the songs & their dance sequences to the overzealous comic relief portions to the exaggerated de-glamorization of Ileana D'Cruz (the love interest alias dream girl), every other ingredient thinks itself as the talking point of the film and eventually irritate us.
The problem with Julayi , is not the lack of idea, it is the overabundance of it without proper packaging – a pre-requisite for these kinds of movies. It is easy to say Julayi isn’t a good movie, but with enthralling set-pieces springing up now & then it becomes really hard to lose hope on the movie; albeit these highpoints aren’t promising enough to say the movie is fairly engaging. In the end, Julayi true to its name turns out to be an aimless wanderer, meandering over a lot of wonderful things for the sake of being a masala caper, but ends up being a poorly mixed cocktail.

First half of the film is thoroughly entertaining. The second half is all about the duel between the hero and villain. Its good. Plus points of the film are Trivikrams work (dialogues, direction and screenplay), Allu Arjuns seamless performance and entertainment value. On the flip side, a few logics and the super-hero orientation to hero character should have been taken care of. On a whole, Julayi is an intelligent action entertainer with Trvikrams brand humor. Go and watch it!

The writing, especially in first half has Trivikram Srinivas’s trademark flair written all over it. The comedy sequences involving Brahmanadam, MS Nrayana tickle your funny bones. Devi Sri Prasad’s compositions are easy on the ear and the songs have been picturised pretty well. The movie falls flat in the second half though. There are a few too many errors of logic that seem to catch your attention as it builds towards the climax, which turns out to be a big let down. The movie has enough in it for Allu Arjun fans to dig into it, the others might not find it as amusing.

The storyline is not great, the characters dont have much strength but it is purely the cat and mouse game which is depicted between the protagonist and antagonist and the gaps filled with some comedy and punch dialogues. And to sum up, one cannot expect a better entertainer than this from the standard of Trivikram at this juncture. He struggled his level best to make it a mass entertainer but ended up entertaining only A class audience. We have to see how audience receive it finally.Bottomline: Mind Game

Most of the scenes and situations are refreshing. Characterizations are pretty unique too. Trivikram did a brilliant job with the screenplay but it loses pace as it reaches the interval point. The intermission scene looked out of place but it is vital for the story to take a different path from then on. Second half is mainly focused on the entertainment and the revenge with slow pace. But by then the film already proves your ticket worth and anything excess is just a bonus.

Julayi comes as complete family entertainer, which can easily connect to youth audience. Its range will depend on how well mass B, C Center audience receive it. For a common B, C center audience, this movie might need a repeated watching to get complete idea over the movie, because of multiple twists. This might be a bit on negative side. No, doubt you will definitely enjoy the movie. The movie takes off well in first 20 mins with series of comedy episodes the first half entertains while coming to second half with multiple twists and some lag in narrating the movie slows a bit and 2nd half look average. The entire film flows like a smooth fluid from the beginning to the end.

'Magadheera' Review: It's Not A Movie-But Historical Wonder!!
Film: Magadheera Rating: 4/5 Banner: Geetha Arts Cast: Ram Charan, Kajal, Dev Gil, Srihari, Surya, Sarath Babu, Sunil, Brahmananadam, Hema, Chiranjeevi, Kim Sharma, Mumaith Khan, Subbaraya Sharma, Rao Ramesh etc Editing: Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao Music: Keeravani Cinematography: Senthil Kumar Fights: Ram Laxman and Peter Heins Lyrics: Chandrabose, Keeravani and Bhuvanachandra Story: V Vijayendra Prasad Dialogues: M Rathnam Producer: Allu Aravind Director: SS Rajamouli Released On: 31st July 2009
The much awaited 'Magadheera' has arrived. It has created huge expectations by the virtue of its posters, trailers and above all the music. Finally let us see if it has reached those expectations.
Story: Harsha (Ram Charan) is a young man who earns money on bike races and bets. He loves such adventures on two wheelers. He happens to touch the hand of a young girl Indu (Kajal) accidentally and that ‘soul touch’ connects his present to the past.
What is the past? That is 1609 AD when Kalabhaiarava (Ram Charan) was the warrior in Udaigarh who trains the soldiers. The Senadhipathi Randheer (Dev Gil) lusts on Yuvarani Mitravinda (Kajal) but the latter loves Kalabhirava. That results in a huge battle between Randheer and Kalabhairava which puts end for their lives. Sher Khan (Sri Hari), the Muslim invader witnesses the valor and love of Kalabhairava and salutes to him.
They take rebirth as Harsha and Indu. And many characters from the past also come to present with the soul connectivity. But where? What happens to them? How the past life matters for them in present life?
That has to be watched on big screen to experience the marvelous treat along with unleashing those queries.
Performances: Ram Charan: He stood as an icon of macho look. He portrayed the 1609 AD role, Kalabhaiarava, with right bearing and voice modulation. Chiranjeevi’s yester year’s voice echoed in the ears of audiences with that modulation of Ram Charan for that character. His dances are spellbinding, especially in ‘Bangaru Kodi petta..’.
Kajal: She is the right choice and perfect blend. Her elegance is amazing in queen’s role.
Sri Hari: His portrayal as Muslim warrior Sher Khan is quite wonderful. He added value to the movie on a whole.
Dev Gill: This Bollywood villain has shared screen in the main antagonist role. He proved perfect particularly in ‘past birth role’.
Others: Sarath Babu is ok in the role of old king, the father of Yuva Rani Mitravinda.
Rao Ramesh perfectly grooved in the role of Aghora Sadhu with apt gait and voice modulation
Brahmanandam and Hema got wasted
Sunil’s comedy is ok to large extent
Technical departments: The movie deserves right mention for music, sound effects, graphics, 3D effects, Cinematography and Choreography. What not! Every technical faculty has rightly worked on this film. Director Rajamouli should be appreciated for his guts to bring such a massive film on Telugu screen.
Allu Aravind should be esteemed for his wonderful production values.
Music And Lyrics: Keeravani and Chandrabose have created wonder with music and lyrics. Every word has aptly grooved into the situation in finest musical form.
Jorse Jorse is like a sheer poetry drawn on a canvass
Naakosom Juttu Peekkunte (written by Keeravani) is hilarious and entertaining
Panchadaara Bomma will be one of lifetime melody hits in Ram Charan’s filmography
Bangaru Kodi petta (penned by Bhuvanachandra) surpassed the older one in choreography
Dheera Dheera is the song that was ever pictured on Indian screen so far
Magadheera…(rolling title song) is innovative and interesting with the dances of Allu Aravind, Keeravani, Rajamouli, Rama Rajamouli, Ali, Sunil, Brahmanandam, Kajal, Kim Sharma, Mumaith Khan, Saloni, BA Raju and every technician worked in the movie
Above all the background music stood as backbone for the movie
Highlights:
- Marvelous art work carried to portray Udaigadh city of 1609AD
- Battle between Kalabhairava and 100 soldiers of Sher Khan
- Wonderful picturization of Dheera Dheera song
- Lord Shiva’s statue that brings hysterical feeling
- Helicopter and bike stunts of Ram Charan
Disappointments:
- Brahmanandam-Hema comedy
- Chiranjeevi’s episode
- Dialogues in first 44 minutes
Analysis: “This is our movie-our Telugu movie. This is our pride. This is the creation happened with the cognizance of our Telugu director…would be the feel of every Telugu film lover while watching this film.
Words wouldn’t suffice to explain the experience of technical extravaganza depicted in this film. It’s just spellbinding. The range of Telugu film has gone to a higher plane with this film. The maker Rajamouli and producer Aravind should be appreciated unconditionally. And kudos would go to the technical team that has kept its brilliance to make this movie a wonder.
Keeping the first 44 minutes away the rest of the movie arrests the audiences completely. The first 44 minutes would literally keep the pulse of audiences down and confused. Pale dialogues, insipid scenes between Brahmanandam and Hema, weak portrayal of Chiranjeevi in a senseless scene would let down the audiences.
The real tempo starts as soon as the completion of the song ‘Naakosam nuvvu juttu peekkunte baagundi..’ The momentum develops with the first horse riding scene of Ram Charan chasing a bus. The interval scene hooks the audiences with lot of enthusiasm for sure. And the audiences can never turn their head and blink eye lid from then till climax.
And the audiences come out from theatre with the experience of a rollercoaster ride, with the sound reverberating in hearts, with a heavy hangover of watching a new facet of Telugu cinema.
The film proves to a historical one with respect to patronage of audiences of all classes.
Rating Judgment: The movie scores 4/5 by the virtue of technical values and adventurous attempt. It would have scored bigger if the first 44 minutes were also dealt well with sensible comedy and treatment.
Verdict: It’s good to watch the film as soon as possible.
