In Person in Paris and online EuroPCR celebrates the best of both worlds

From 17-20 May 2022, a new Blended version of the World-Leading annual Course in interventional cardiovascular medicine will be taking place in Paris and all over the world.

EuroPCR is celebrating being back home in Paris, in-person, for the first time in 3 years. This year’s international Course will see both a complete on-site programme and a full digital experience, bringing the community together to share and learn.

As the official annual meeting of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI), EuroPCR is a patient-oriented Course built by and for the community covering the latest innovations and advances in cardiovascular interventions. Interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, imaging specialists, radiologists, nurses, allied professionals and other practitioners will be joined by researchers, innovators and industry representatives to address interventions for coronary and peripheral vessels, for structural heart disease including valves, for hypertension, heart failure and stroke.

As one PCR catchphrase has it, ‘it’s all about the patient’. But it’s also ‘all about learning’, and over the challenging years between the last in-person EuroPCR in 2019 and this one, a lot has been learned, notably just how powerful digital can be. Online learning at EuroPCR has made a decade’s progress in just a couple of years and much effort has gone into ensuring an enriched experience for everyone at EuroPCR 2022: both online participants accessing exclusive content, and the participants in Paris, getting even wider, even more diverse input from colleagues all over the world.

EuroPCR 2022 is more than just on-line and in-person, it’s fully blended, with all participants encouraged to share comments and ask questions during live-streamed sessions in real time (orally or via the mobile app for in-person participants and via the chat for those online). And on the priority digital side, there’s the new concept « EuroPCR+ », a digital channel broadcasting live news, discussions and interviews, with repeat broadcasts 24 hours a day, giving participants the chance to catch up with the big news of each day and get in-depth scientific insight into key topics.

A key element of the Course will be the opportunity for hands-on experience in the Training Village and Simulation-based learning, while presentations of the latest devices and sessions on innovation in cardiovascular medicine - such as artificial intelligence and the cath lab of the future - will generate much interest.

Over 700 participants will see their scientific abstracts, clinical cases, images, innovations and late-breaking trials showcased, with awards given for the best abstract presentation, the best clinical case, the best innovation and the best personalised vascular care project.

Key features: • 4-day Course • 21 session rooms, including 3 TV studios streaming live • 10 digital channels • A 24 hour/day digital channel (EuroPCR+) • 300+ educational sessions • 400+ hours of Programme content • the return of real time LIVE cases from 4 LIVE Centres • 1,680+ submissions received • 70+ Industry booths

A global outreach: • 45 National Societies and Working Groups in the onsite Scientific Programme • 107 Countries represented by Course participants as of 27 April • 63 Countries represented by the Core Team and Faculty • 750+ Presenters from 78 different countries • 4 LIVE Centres in 3 different countries • 38 Official EuroPCR Ambassadors spread over 6 continents • 3 TV studios in Paris live streaming sessions for worldwide access

Some highlights from the 400 hours of programme content in the upcoming Course Hot Line sessions The latest data from internationally recognised trials will be released at EuroPCR 2022 during dedicated Hot Line and Late-breaking Trial sessions.

Other sessions of interest The return of LIVE cases with: NSTEMI PCI, OCT in MVD PCI, robotic PCI, TAVI and transcatheter mitral edge interventions.

Simulation-based learning on topics such as: Image-guided bifurcation stenting - live from Japan; Antegrade CTO; TAVI; Bifurcation techniques; Transseptal puncture for mitral interventions.

Special Sessions : 20 years of TAVI; The Cathlab of Tomorrow, already here Today; Hypertension Management.

A programme dedicated to Nurses and Allied Professionals , onsite and live-streamed.

The EAPCI-PCR Fellows Course , a track taking place throughout the four days.

PCR Innovators Day , following which the Jon DeHaan Foundation will be rewarding the best innovation with a generous $200,000 grant.

The return of the renowned PCR’s Got Talent competition.

A Celebration The theme for this year’s Course is “Let’s Celebrate”, in particular the joy of being “back home” in Paris, meeting face to face, but there are also several anniversaries to be celebrated:

20 years since the first Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) was performed by Professor Alain Cribier at the Charles Nicolle University Hospital in Rouen, France. 30 years since Dr Ferdinand Kiemeneij performed the first successful transradial coronary angioplasty procedure at Onze Lieve Vrouw Gasthuis in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The 17th World Hypertension Day on 17th May. The 10th anniversary of the EAPCI-PCR textbook, the first of its kind, all-inclusive patient-centred reference book promoting good, evidence-based clinical practices. The 200th issue of EuroIntervention, the official journal of EuroPCR and the EAPCI was published in January 2022. And it’s the 20th anniversary of the digital gateway to PCR, PCRonline.

Philips showcases its latest portfolio of cardiology innovations that deliver clinical confidence and efficiency in treating cardiac disease at europcr 2023.

  • Late-breaking data presented from largest-ever randomized controlled multicenter clinical trial on optimizing patient safety during coronary procedures
  • Philips-hosted symposiums and onsite trainings to empower better heart care through integrated imaging, devices, software, informatics and services

Amsterdam, the Netherlands – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, is showcasing end-to-end cardiology solutions through the care pathway at the annual meeting for the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EuroPCR, May 16-19, Paris, France) to deliver better heart care for patients with greater efficiency. The Philips cardiology portfolio addresses the need for integrating imaging, devices, software, informatics, and services at each point in the cardiac patient journey. Philips’ proven physiology technologies can enable interventionalists to perform ultra-low contrast percutaneous coronary intervention (ULC-PCI) procedures with greater confidence.

Late-breaking clinical sessions on evidence-based coronary imaging

In line with the company’s commitment to supporting its innovations with clinical evidence, Philips’ clinical partners will present new data during late-breaking sessions at EuroPCR that could help inform treatment for PCI patients.

  • Dynamic coronary roadmap for contrast reduction trial (DCR4Contrast): Prof. Javier Escaned, Head of the Interventional Cardiology Section at Hospital Clinico San Carlos, Madrid Spain, will present results from the DCR4Contrast trial, the largest-ever randomized controlled clinical trial on this topic, which investigated the ability of Philips Dynamic Coronary Roadmap (DCR) to reduce the total iodinated contrast media volumes administered during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures, compared to PCI performed without DCR guidance. The late-breaker presentation will take place on Tuesday, May 16 at 12:00 to 13:30 (CET) in Room Maillot. Prof. Escaned will also present the results from the DCR4Contrast trial and is available for questions during the EuroPCR 2023 Press Conference taking place on Tuesday 16 May from 08:05 – 09:15am CET in the Press Room on Level 3.
  • iFR versus FFR-guided revascularization decision-making: Dr. Takayuki Warisawa, Interventional cardiologist at NTT Medical Center in Tokyo, Japan, will present new data on iFR versus FFR-guided revascularization decision-making in left main disease. The late-breaker presentation adds to a growing body of evidence showing iFR improves patient outcomes and optimizes procedural results. The session will take place on Tuesday 16 May from 12:00 to 13:00 CET in Room Maillot.
  • DEFINE-FLAIR five-year follow-up: Prof. Javier Escaned will also present 5-year data from the DEFINE FLAIR clinical trial comparing patient outcomes using instant wave-free ratio (iFR) and fractional flow reserve (FFR) in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. The late-breaker presentation will take place on Thursday, May 18 from 15:15 to 16:45 CET in Room Maillot.
  • Radiographic imaging validation and Evaluation for angio iFR (ReVEAL iFR): Dr. Yoshinobu Onuma will present the results of this multi-center, prospective, single-arm, open-label data collection with centralized off-line data analysis intended to demonstrate the diagnostic performance of angiographic-derived iFR single plane angiogram derived physiology model using the invasive physiological measures of both iFR and FFR as the reference standards. The late-breaker presentation will take place on Thursday, May 18 at 15:15 to 16:45 CET in Room Maillot.

More information on these sessions and the full EuroPCR 2023 program can be found here .

Highlight innovations from Philips’ cardiology portfolio on display at EuroPCR include Philips Image Guided Therapy System – Azurion , Philips Interventional Applications Platform – IntraSight , next to visualization solutions such as Philips Precision Guidance System – SyncVision , Philips Dynamic Coronary Roadmap , live echo and live X-ray fusion tool – EchoNavigator , Pressure Guide Wire – OmniWire and its intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) catheters .
