Summary of this role.

Drives the product vision for the assigned portfolio. Helps to shape the product roadmap based on client and user feedback, usage metrics and competitive research. Works closely with internal departments (Product Development, Services and Sales) and external stakeholders (customers and partners) to strategically improve your product portfolio. Manages the Product Life Cycle process for portfolio product offerings. Actively supports sales with expertise, consulting, tools, and collateral. Accountable for product P&L including revenue and profit growth for existing and new products in the geographic or vertical markets assigned. Acts as the products’ champion within the company for portfolio product offering.

What Part Will You Play?

  • Manages the process from product development to product launch, ensuring execution is in line with project plan for complex product initiatives. In cases in which the product has a distinct PNL, the product manager has responsibility for managing a product's PNL
  • For assigned products, owns, manages, and communicates a product roadmap, including collaborating with industry analysts to form competitive analysis, and with delivery, sales, and relationship management teams to determine prioritization, development and ongoing costs of delivery, and market positioning.
  • For assigned products, develops the "go to market packaging". Collaborates with product marketing to develop product marketing strategies based on established product objectives, costs, and value proposition. Reviews research with product marketing to quantify value proposition for inputs to pricing analysis and marketing collateral.
  • Develops comprehensive business cases requiring analytical skills to assimilate complex data and concepts for new product functionality to serve as inputs to decision-making, prioritization, pricing, and client value proposition.
  • For assigned product initiatives, collaborates with company business leaders, sales, IT, legal, strategic marketing and relationship management teams to define product goals, objectives, market positioning, and pricing strategies for each assigned product. Uses independent judgment to determine methods and procedures for managing product strategy.
  • Follows a structured, repeatable process for conducting market research to include industry publications, analyst research, experiential research, client surveys, etc. Develops and maintains a strategic planning approach for summarizing and communicating the results of aggregate research.
  • Facilitates product concept and requirements workshops with clients and internal development teams in pursuit of product requirements, objectives, and architecture decisions. Documents workshop results in a format suitable for consumption by all audiences, including interactive review and feedback from clients and internal parties. Answer questions during workshop, adds points of clarification and completes any necessary follow-up action items.
  • For assigned products, collaborates with product delivery and technology architecture to validate detailed design, particularly to ensure that product objectives and key requirements are met and aligned with the market needs and business unit strategy . Provides design direction, testing support, and general assistance to delivery team, as needed, during the execution phase of product development consisting of complex scopes.

What Are We Looking For in This Role?

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Relevant Experience or Degree in: Business or Computer Science; Combination of relevant training and/ or experience in lieu of degree
  • Typically Minimum 8 Years Relevant Exp
  • Experience in similar business product services and/or external customer/market experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer experience in a software development environment or in a professional services role. Prefer software or IT background (i.e., degree or experience). Prefer direct experience with doing software development, testing and/or business analysis. Prefer experience with Agile software products and delivery methodology.

Link to apply -  https://jobs.wisc.edu/jobs/researcher-i-peery-madison-wisconsin-united-states Job Summary: The incumbent would report to a project manager while recruiting, training, and leading 2-4 technicians each summer to deploy, collect, and assist with processing and analyzing data from acoustic recording units across the landscape in the (likely southern) Sierra Nevada of California. The project is crucial to multiple well-funded projects and is expected to directly inform management planning and practices in an ecologically sensitive and high-profile region.

The researcher would spend the remainder of the year (mid-August to mid-April) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Madison, WI as part of the Peery research group. The Peery Lab (https://peery.russell.wisc.edu/) currently is composed of 7 graduate students, 10 full time research scientists, and multiple alumni who have chosen to remain involved in collaborative projects with current graduate students. The large lab fosters an active, inclusive, collaborative, and supportive research atmosphere.

The position ideally would start on October 1, 2024 but could be shifted slightly, if necessary, and includes a full-time salary with benefits package, including health insurance, and retirement.

Qualifications: -Experience with acoustic data analyses and interpretation. Examples might include use of Program RAVEN to identify bird vocalizations -Experience with data collection methods using autonomous recording units or other acoustic data. Examples might include programming and deploying autonomous recording units. -Experience with geographic information systems. Examples might include use of geographic information systems to inform the deployment of autonomous recording units. -Experience leading crews in field biology or ecology positions. Examples might include creating schedules, training, and ensuring crew safety -Excellent organizational, management, and office skills. -Experience with database management. Examples might include data entry and QC in databases such as MS Access -Experience with hiring, training, and independently leading field crews. -Demonstrates knowledge of assessing and addressing diverse crew needs and gaps, tailoring training and leadership accordingly.

License/Certification: Required Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

Work Type: Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
