వె ట్రిమార‌న్‌... త‌మిళనాట ఈ పేరు ఓ సంచ‌ల‌నం.  ఆయ‌న సినిమా వ‌స్తోందంటే చాలు.. అమాంతం అంచ‌నాలు పెరిగిపోతుంటాయి. స్టార్ల కంటే కూడా క‌థ‌ల‌కే పెద్ద‌పీట వేస్తూ సినిమాలు తీయ‌డం ఆయ‌న శైలి. జాతీయ పుర‌స్కారాల్లో ఆయ‌న పేరు త‌ర‌చూ వినిపిస్తుంటుంది. అంత ప్ర‌భావ‌వంత‌మైన సినిమాలు చేస్తుంటారు. ఆయ‌న త‌మిళంలో తీసిన అసుర‌న్ తెలుగులో నార‌ప్ప‌గా రీమేక్ అయ్యింది. ఆయ‌న ఇటీవ‌ల త‌మిళంలో తీసిన చిత్రం ‘విడుద‌లై:  పార్ట్‌1.  హాస్య ప్ర‌ధాన‌మైన పాత్ర‌ల్లో న‌టించే సూరి ఇందులో క‌థానాయ‌కుడు కావ‌డంతో అంద‌రిలోనూ సినిమాపై ఆస‌క్తి నెల‌కొంది. అక్క‌డ ఇప్ప‌టికే విడుద‌లైన ఈ సినిమా తెలుగులో ‘విడుద‌ల:  పార్ట్‌1’ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల ముందుకొచ్చింది. మ‌రి చిత్ర కథేంటి? వెట్రిమారన్‌ టేకింగ్‌ ఎలా ఉంది?

క‌థేంటంటే: కుమ‌రేశ‌న్ (సూరి)  కొత్త‌గా ఉద్యోగంలో చేరిన ఓ పోలీస్ కానిస్టేబుల్‌.  ప్ర‌జాద‌ళం నాయ‌కుడైన పెరుమాళ్‌(విజ‌య్ సేతుప‌తి)ని ప‌ట్టుకునేందుకు ప‌నిచేస్తున్న ప్ర‌త్యేక‌మైన పోలీస్ ద‌ళంలో డ్రైవ‌ర్‌గా చేర‌తాడు. ద‌ట్ట‌మైన అడ‌విలో ప‌నిచేస్తున్న పోలీస్ ద‌ళానికి రోజూ జీప్‌లో ఆహారం సర‌ఫ‌రా చేయ‌డమే కుమరేశ‌న్ ప‌ని. ప్ర‌జ‌ల‌కి క‌ష్టం వ‌స్తే ఆదుకోవ‌డ‌మే పోలీస్ విధి అనేది ఆయ‌న న‌మ్మిన సిద్ధాంతం. అనుకోకుండా అడ‌విలో ఓ మ‌హిళ‌పై ఎలుగుబంటి దాడి చేయ‌డంతో ఆమెని ఆస్ప‌త్రిలో చేర్పించేందుక‌ని పోలీస్ జీప్‌ని వాడ‌తాడు. దాంతో పై అధికారుల ఆగ్ర‌హానికి గుర‌వుతాడు.(Viduthala telugu review) క్ష‌మాప‌ణ చెప్పాల్సిందే అంటాడు అధికారి. కుమ‌రేశ‌న్ మాత్రం త‌ప్పు చేయ‌లేదు కాబ‌ట్టి క్ష‌మాప‌ణ చెప్ప‌నంటాడు. మ‌రోవైపు  గాయ‌ప‌డిన ఆ మ‌హిళ మ‌న‌వరాలు పాప (భ‌వానీ శ్రీ)తో కుమ‌రేశ‌న్ స్నేహం చేస్తాడు. అది కాస్త ప్రేమ‌కి దారితీస్తుంది. ఒక ప‌క్క ప్రేమ‌, ఇంకోవైపు పెరుమాళ్ కోసం సాగించే వేట‌లో ఎలాంటి కుమ‌రేశ‌న్ ఎలాంటి సంఘ‌ర్ష‌ణ‌కి గుర‌వుతాడ‌న్న‌ది మిగ‌తా క‌థ‌.

ఎలా ఉందంటే: వెట్రిమార‌న్ మ‌ట్టి క‌థ‌ల‌కి, మ‌ట్టి మ‌నుషుల్ని పోలిన  పాత్ర‌ల‌కి పెట్టింది పేరు. త‌న క‌థా ప్ర‌పంచాన్ని స‌హ‌జంగా తెర‌పై ఆవిష్క‌రిస్తూ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని లీనం చేయ‌డం ఆయ‌న శైలి. ఈ సినిమాతోనూ అదే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేశాడు. 1987 నేప‌థ్యంలో సాగే క‌థ ఇది. రైలు ప్ర‌మాదంతో సినిమా ఆరంభమైనా.. ద‌ట్ట‌మైన అడ‌వుల్ని చూపించ‌డం నుంచే ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు విడుద‌ల ప్ర‌పంచంలోకి ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని తీసుకెళ్లాడు. బేస్ క్యాంప్ నుంచి కుమ‌రేశ‌న్ విధులు నిర్వ‌ర్తించే తీరు... ఆ క్ర‌మంలో ఎదుర‌య్యే అనుభ‌వాలు ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తిస్తాయి. అడ‌వుల్లో జీవితాల్ని అత్యంత స‌హ‌జంగా తెర‌పైకి తీసుకొచ్చాడు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. (Viduthala telugu review) సినిమాతో ఓ కొత్త ప్ర‌పంచాన్నైతే ఆవిష్క‌రించారు కానీ... అందులో సంఘ‌ర్ష‌ణ‌, డ్రామా మాత్రం పెద్ద‌గా మెప్పించ‌దు. రెండు భాగాలుగా తీస్తున్నాడు కాబ‌ట్టి క‌థ‌ని మ‌లి భాగం కోసం అట్టి పెట్టుకున్నాడో ఏమో కానీ... ఈ భాగంలో కేవ‌లం పాత్ర‌ల్ని, ఆ క‌థా ప్ర‌పంచాన్ని మాత్రమే చూపించారు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. దాంతో రెండున్న‌ర గంట‌ల నిడివి ఉన్న ఈ సినిమా సాగ‌దీత‌లా అనిపిస్తుంది.  అడ‌వుల్లో ద‌ళాలు, వాళ్ల‌ని పట్టుకునేందుకు పోలీసులు చేసే ప్ర‌య‌త్నాలు, వాళ్లిద్ద‌రి మ‌ధ్య న‌లిగిపోయే సామాన్యుల  చుట్టూ సాగే క‌థ‌లు తెలుగు ప్రేక్ష‌కుల‌కు కొత్తేమీ కాదు.  త‌ర‌చూ ఆ త‌ర‌హా ప్ర‌య‌త్నాలు తెలుగులో త‌ర‌చూ తెర‌పైకొస్తూనే  ఉంటాయి. ఈ క‌థ త‌మిళ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల‌కు కొత్త‌ద‌నాన్ని పంచుతుందేమో కానీ, తెలుగు ప్రేక్ష‌కుల‌కు కాదు. ఈ సినిమా వ‌ర‌కు మెచ్చుకోద‌గిన‌దేమైనా ఉంటే... ద‌ట్ట‌మైన ఆ అడవుల చుట్టూ అత్యంత స‌హ‌జంగా స‌న్నివేశాల్ని తీర్చిదిద్ద‌డ‌మే.(Viduthala telugu review) ప్ర‌జాద‌ళం నాయ‌కుడి కుటుంబం ఉందంటూ ఊళ్లో ఉన్న జ‌నం అంద‌రినీ పిలిపించి వాళ్ల‌ని హింసించే స‌న్నివేశాలు మ‌న‌సుల్ని క‌లిచివేస్తాయి. ముఖ్యంగా మ‌హిళ‌ల నేప‌థ్యంలో సాగే ఆ స‌న్నివేశాల్ని ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు త‌న‌దైన శైలిలో తెర‌పైకి తీసుకొచ్చారు.  ప్రేమ‌క‌థలో కొత్త‌ద‌నం లేదు. ప్ర‌త్యేక‌ద‌ళంలో మ‌న‌స్సాక్షికి క‌ట్టుబడిన ఓ కిందిస్థాయి పోలీస్ జీవితం ఎలా ఉంటుందో? అధికారుల తీరు ఎలా ఉంటుందో? ఈ సినిమాలో బాగా చూపించారు. సూరి, విజ‌య్ సేతుప‌తి, గౌత‌మ్ మేన‌న్ చుట్టూ సాగే  ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాలు కూడా ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటాయి. వాటితోనే పార్ట్‌-2పై ఆస‌క్తిని పెంచారు.

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే: పాత్ర‌ల‌కి త‌గ్గ న‌టుల్ని ఎంపిక చేసుకున్నారు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. కుమరేశ‌న్‌, పాప పాత్ర‌ల్లో అమాయ‌క‌త్వం క‌నిపిస్తుంది. ఆ పాత్ర‌ల‌కి త‌గ్గ‌ట్టుగా సూరి, భ‌వానీ శ్రీల‌ని ఎంపిక చేసుకోవ‌డం బాగుంది. ఆ ఇద్దరూ పాత్ర‌ల్లో ఒదిగిపోయారు.  క్ష‌మాప‌ణ చెప్పాల్సిందే అని ప‌ట్టుబ‌డుతూ, క్రూరంగా వ్య‌వ‌హ‌రించే అధికారి పాత్ర‌లో చేత‌న్ అభిన‌యం ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. ప్ర‌జాద‌ళం నాయ‌కుడైన పెరుమాళ్‌గా విజ‌య్ సేతుప‌తి క‌నిపించేది కొన్ని స‌న్నివేశాల్లోనే. కానీ ఆ ప్ర‌భావం సినిమా మొత్తం క‌నిపిస్తుంది. గౌత‌మ్ మేన‌న్‌,  రాజీవ్ మీన‌న్ త‌దిత‌రులు పాత్ర‌ల ప‌రిధి మేర‌కు న‌టించారు. సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది.  ఇది పీరియాడిక్ సినిమా కావ‌డంతో గ‌తాన్ని గుర్తు చేసేలా నేప‌థ్య  సంగీతం అందించారు ఇళ‌యరాజా. పాట‌లు ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటాయి. కెమెరా ప‌నిత‌నం మెప్పిస్తుంది. (Viduthala telugu review) ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని ఆ అడ‌వుల్లో లీన‌మ‌య్యేలా చేస్తుంది. జ‌య‌మోహ‌న్ రాసిన ఓ చిట్టి క‌థ  ఆధారంగా ఈ క‌థ‌ని అల్లుకున్నాడు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. పాత్ర‌ల్ని బ‌లంగా ప‌రిచ‌యం చేశారు త‌ప్ప  తొలి భాగంలో క‌థంటూ ఏమీ లేదు. కానీ ఆయ‌న మేకింగ్ మాత్రం మెప్పిస్తుంది. నిర్మాణం ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది. ప‌క్కాగా త‌మిళ నేల‌ని ఆవిష్క‌రించిన క‌థ కావ‌డంతో.. తెలుగులోనూ పాత్ర‌ల్ని కూడా అదే పేరుతోనే  చూపించారు.

వెట్రిమారన్ అనగానే సినిమాలపై ఆసక్తి ఉన్న తెలుగు వాళ్లకి కూడా ఠక్కున గుర్తొచ్చే సినిమాలు విచారణై, అసురన్, కాక ముట్టై. అతనిది ఒక ప్రత్యేక శైలి. నిజజీవిత కథకి కాల్పికనత జోడించినా, కల్పిత కథని నిజజీవిత కథ మాదిరిగా తీసినా అది అతనికే చెల్లు అన్నట్టుంటాయి. అణచివేత, బాధలు, ప్రతీకారం, పోరాటం, పోలీసులు, ఖైదీలు, నేరం, న్యాయం, చట్టం...ఇవే ప్రధానంగా వెట్రిమారన్ కథా వస్తువులు. ఇప్పుడు కొత్తగా వచ్చిన "విడుదల పార్ట్ 1" కూడా ఆ కోవకు చెందినదే. 

ఒక ట్రైన్ బాంబింగ్ సీన్ తో కథ మొదలవుతుంది. 1987 నాటి ప్రజాదళానికి సంబంధించిన పెరుమాళ్ అనే దళనాయకుడిని పట్టుకునేందుకు "ఆపరేషన్ ఘోష్ట్ హంట్" పేరిట పోలీసులు ఒక వలయం పన్నుతారు. కానీ అతనెలా ఉంటాడో తెలియదు, ఒక పట్టాన దొరకడు. 

కొత్తగా రిక్రూట్ అయిన కుమరేష్ (సూరి) పెరుమాళ్ ని పట్టుకునే ట్రూప్ లో చేరతాడు. అతను చాలా మంచివాడు, సీనియర్లకు తలవంచి పని చేస్తాడు, ఓర్పు, ఓపిక, వినయం, విధేయత, వృత్తిపట్ల అంకిత భావం తారాస్థాయిలో ఉన్నవాడు. అతనికి కొండ ప్రాంతానికి చెందిన ఒకమ్మాయితో పరిచయం పెరిగి ప్రేమగా చిగురిస్తుంటుంది. ఆ సమయంలో ఆమె పోలీసుల నుంచి పెద్ద ప్రమాదంలో చిక్కుకుంటుంది. తాను కూడా ఒక పోలీసై ఉండి ఆమెను పోలీసుల టార్చర్ నుంచి విముక్తి చేయడానికి నానా కష్టాలు పడతాడు. అంతటితో ప్రధమ భాగం ముగుస్తుంది. మిగతాది సీక్వెల్ లో చూడాలి. 

ఎప్పటిలాగానే వెట్రిమారన్ ప్రతి చిన్న విషయాన్ని చాలా కూలంకషంగా రీసెర్చ్ చేసి మరీ షూట్ చేసాడు. పోలీస్ పనిష్మెంట్లు, క్యాంపుల్లో వాళ్ల జీవన విధానం, కొండ ప్రాంతం వాళ్లతో వాళ్ల సంబంధాలు అన్నీ కళ్లకు కట్టినట్లు ఎక్కడా కృత్రిమత్వం లేకుండా నిజ జీవితాల్ని తెర మీద చూస్తున్నట్టుగా చాలా ఆసక్తికరంగా మలిచాడు. ఒక దశలో సూరి పాత్రతో ప్రేక్షకుడు ప్రేమలో పడతాడు. అతని పట్ల జాలి చూపిస్తాడు. అతనిలోని హీరో బయటపడాలని కోరుకుంటాడు. కానీ ఆ పాత్రకెంత ఓర్పు ఉంటుందో అంతటి "ఓర్పు పరీక్ష" ప్రేక్షకులకి కూడా పెట్టాడు దర్శకుడు. చివర్లో హీరోయిజం బయటికొచ్చినా అది సరిపోలేదు. ప్రేక్షకులు వహించిన ఓర్పుకి న్యాయం జరగలేదు. అలాంటిదేదైనా ఆశిస్తే సీక్వెల్ లో వెతుక్కోండి అన్నట్టుగా నిరాశపరిచి వదిలేసాడు వెట్రిమారన్. అదొక్కటే అసంతృప్తి. 

అయితే సినిమాలో హింసాకాండని చూసి తట్టుకోవడం చాలా కష్టం. స్త్రీలని వివస్త్రలను చేసి కొట్టడం వంటివి 18+ ఆడియన్స్ ని కూడా మానసికంగా డిస్టర్బ్ చేస్తాయి. పోలీస్ టార్చర్ ని పతాక స్థాయిలో చూపించిన సినిమా ఇది. 

అలాగే విజయ్ సేతుపతి పాత్రకి ఇచ్చిన బిల్డప్ కి తగ్గట్టుగా అతని రివీలింగ్ సీన్స్ లేవు. ఆ క్యారెక్టర్లోని డెప్త్ కూడా రెండవ భాగంలోనే చూడమన్నట్టుగా వదిలేసాడు దర్శకుడు. ఎలా చూసుకున్నా సీక్వెల్ పట్ల ఆసక్తి పెరిగే విధంగానే ముగించాడు. 

సాంకేతికంగా ఈ సినిమా చాలా విషయాల్లో బలంగా ఉంది. కెమెరా వర్క్ కానీ, ఎడిటింగ్ కానీ, బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ కానీ అన్నీ ఎంతవరకు ఉండాలో అంతవరకు ఉన్నాయి. రైలు ప్రమాదం సీన్ కూడా ఈ రేంజ్ సినిమాకి చాలా పెద్ద స్కేల్ లో తీసినట్టే. ఆ విధంగా అవసరమైన చోట రాజీ పదకుండా అక్కర్లేని చోట అతి చేసి ఎక్కువ ఖర్చు పెట్టకుండా ప్రేక్షకులని వేరే ప్రపంచంలోకి తీసుకెళ్లి కథ నడిపిన వైనం ప్రశంసించదగ్గది. పాటలు పర్వాలేదు. 

కుమరేష్ గా నటించిన సూరి ఈ సినిమాకి హైలైట్. కామెడీ పాత్రలు వేసే తాను ఇలాంటి సీరియస్ కానిస్టేబుల్ పాత్రలో అద్భుతంగా ఒదిగిపోయాడు. ధీరోదాత్తమైన పాత్రలో జీవించేసాడు. 

విజయ్ సేతుపతికి ఈ తొలిభాగంలో పెద్దగా నిడివి లేదు. అతని ట్రాక్ ని సీక్వెల్ లో చూడాల్సిందే. అయితే కనిపించిన కాసేపు రక్తి కట్టించాడు. 

కౄరమైన పోలీసాఫీసర్ గా బాలాజి శక్తివేల్ ప్రేక్షకుల చేత పళ్లు కొరించాడు. అతనెప్పుడు చస్తాడా అన్నంత ఫీలింగ్ ప్రేక్షకుల్లో రప్పించగలిగాడు దర్శకుడు. 

భవాని పాత్రపేరు తమిళరసి. పాత్రకి సరిపోయింది. చక్కగా చేసింది. 

ఒక సినిమా తీస్తున్నప్పుడు దర్శకుడు ఎంత రీసెర్చ్ చెయ్యాలి, ప్రేక్షకులని కట్టి పారేసేలాగ ప్రతి చిన్న అంశానికి ప్రాముఖ్యతనిస్తూ కథనం ఎలా నడపాలి అనేవి తెలుసుకోవాలంటే ఈ సినిమా చూడాలి. ఎంచుకున్న తారాగణమంతా ఆయా పాత్రలకి తగ్గట్టుగా ఉండడం, అందరూ సరైన తూకంలో నటించి మెప్పించడం, 1987 నాటి వాతావరణాన్ని కళ్లముందు పెట్టేయడం సాధారణ విషయం కాదు. దర్శకుడి శ్రద్ధ, నిబద్ధత ఎలా ఉండొచ్చో చెప్పే సినిమా ఇది. 

మింగడానికి చాలా కష్టంగా ఉన్న పోలీస్ టార్చర్ సీన్స్, తేలిపోయిన క్లైమాక్స్ ని పక్కన పెడితే ఈ చిత్రం చాలా గ్రిప్పింగ్ గా ఉంది. సీక్వెల్ కోసం వేచి చూసేలా చేసింది. ఆ రెండు విషయాలూ కూడా గ్రిప్పింగ్ గా ఉండి ఉంటే మరింత పైస్థాయిలో ఉండేది ఈ తొలిభాగం కూడా. "విడుదల" విడుదలైనా పూర్తిగా విడుదలైనట్టు కాదు. సీక్వెల్ ఉంది కనుక, అది చూస్తే తప్ప మొత్తం కథ అవగతం కాదు కనుక ఇది సగం విడుదలే.

‘Vidudala Part 1’ is the dubbed version of Vetri Maaran’s original Tamil film, ‘Viduthalai Part 1’. Comedian Soori stars as the main character in this film, which opens with the aftermath of a train explosion. This is a continuous, uninterrupted shot (single shot sequence). The tone is immediately established by this prologue.

The story takes place in late 1980s Tamil Nadu and centers on a revolutionary group led by Perumal (Vijay Sethupathi) that is against a proposed mining company in a tribal area. The organization’s goal is to safeguard the natural resources and protect the tribal people’s rights. On the other hand, the police have announced a plan to capture Perumal and have begun deploying to the mountainous region.

Kumaresh (Soori), a police driver posted to this area, arrives on the scene. Despite his gentle demeanor, he is unwavering in his commitment to his guiding philosophy. His philosophy was that if one isn’t doing anything wrong, then there’s no reason to apologize to anyone. He helps local people. Kumeresh has developed feelings for Paapa, a local girl played by Bhavani Sre.

Police intent on apprehending Perumal begin torturing residents of the village. Paapa is among the villagers who are taken to interrogation. Kumaresh thinks that going after Perumal is the only way to save everyone.

We only get half of the story by the end of the film; the other half will be revealed in the sequel. But the first part has its own beginning and the end, a proper arc.

The narrative starts out as a police procedural but evolves into a document about the abuse of power. Still, Vetri Maaran makes an effort to provide a fair look at the situation from both the police/government and revolutionary groups’ perspectives.

Through the protagonist’s eyes, we also witness inhuman acts of police in the name of interrogation.

Despite the familiarity of the conflict, the compelling storytelling in Vetri Maaran makes it stand out. Some scenes, especially those involving police brutality, are difficult to watch. Their rawness makes them difficult to see at the screen. On the downside, the film drags on in the second half.

Soori, as the protagonist, delivers a stellar performance. He’s a natural at his job. Soori, who is known for his comedy, astounds us with his act.

Vijay Sethupathi, despite having limited screen time, makes his presence felt. Bhavani Sri is very good. Balaji Shaktivel stands out among the other actors.

Another plus is Ilaiyaraaja’s background score. The cinematography is strength to the film. The first and last scenes are both brilliantly executed.

Bottom-line: “Vidudala” is another powerful film from Vetri Maaran. The brutality depicted in some scenes is shocking and may be difficult to watch, but the film is a gritty drama on the whole. The second half loses the steam though.

ప్రముఖ తమిళ దర్శకుడు వెట్రిమారన్ కంటూ ఓ వర్గం ప్రేక్షకులు ఉన్నారు. పదిహేనేళ్ళ కెరీర్ లో ఆయన తెరకెక్కించింది ఆరు చిత్రాలే అయినా… అందులో జాతీయ అవార్డులను అందుకున్న సినిమాలూ ఉన్నాయి. సమాజంలోని అట్టడుగు వర్గాలను రిప్రజెంట్ చేస్తూ వెట్రిమారన్ సినిమాలు తీస్తుండటంతో సహజంగానే విమర్శకుల ప్రశంసలూ ఆ యా చిత్రాలకు లభిస్తుంటాయి. అలా వెట్రిమారన్ తీసిన తాజా చిత్రం ‘విడుదలై’. తమిళంలో మార్చి 31న విడుదలైన ఈ సినిమాను గీతా ఫిలిమ్ డిస్ట్రిబ్యూషన్ ద్వారా అల్లు అరవింద్ తెలుగువారి ముందుకు ‘విడుదల’ పేరుతో ఈ నెల 15న తీసుకు రాబోతున్నారు.

డైరెక్టర్ వెట్రిమారన్ ‘విడుదల’ చిత్రాన్ని గవర్నమెంట్ వర్సెస్ ఎక్స్ ట్రిమిస్ట్స్ బ్యాక్ డ్రాప్ లో తెరకెక్కించాడు. ఖనిజ సంపద ఉన్న అటవీ ప్రాంతాన్ని ప్రభుత్వం ప్రైవేట్ కంపెనీ పరం చేయాలనుకున్నప్పుడు… అక్కడి తీవ్రవాదులు దాన్ని ఎలా ఎదుర్కొన్నారు? అందుకోసం ఎలాంటి పోరాటం చేశారు? అనేది వెట్రిమారన్ ఇందులో చూపించాడు. అంతేకాదు… ఏజెన్సీ లోని పోలీస్ క్యాంప్స్ లో అధికారుల దాష్టికాలకూ, అంతర్గత కలహాలకూ, కోవర్ట్ ఆపరేషన్స్ కూ ప్రాధాన్యమిచ్చాడు. నిజానికి కథ చెప్పుకోవాలంటే ఇది సింపుల్ అండ్ సింగిల్ పాయింట్.

ప్రభుత్వ చర్యలను వ్యతిరేకిస్తూ ప్రజాదళం అనే తీవ్రవాద సంస్థ రైలును బాంబు పెట్టి పేల్చేస్తుంది. దానికి కారకుడైన దళ నాయకుడు పెరుమాళ్ (విజయ్ సేతుపతి)ను అందమొందించడం కోసం ప్రభుత్వం ఏజెన్సీ ప్రాంతానికి స్పెషల్ ఆఫీసర్ సునీల్ (గౌతమ్ మీనన్)ను పంపుతుంది. అప్పటికే కానిస్టేబుల్ గా ఏజెన్సీలో పోస్టింగ్ వచ్చిన కుమరేశన్ (సూరి) తన పై అధికారుల అగచాట్ల కారణంగా నానా కష్టాలు పడుతుంటాడు. అక్కడి గిరిజన యువతి తమిళరసి (భవాని శ్రీ)తో ప్రేమలో పడతాడు. ఆమెకు తీవ్రవాదులతో బంధుత్వం ఉందనే విషయం కుమరేశన్ కు ఆలస్యంగా తెలుస్తుంది. ఒకానొక సందర్భంలో తీవ్రవాది పెరుమాళ్ ను చూసిన కుమరేశన్ పరిస్థితి అగమ్యగోచరంగా మారుతుంది. పెరుమాళ్ ఆచూకిని పై అధికారులకు అతను చెప్పాలని అనుకున్నా… కొందరు పోలీసులు అడ్డు పడతారు. పెరుమాళ్ వివరాల కోసం గిరిజనులను స్టేషన్ కు రప్పించి పోలీసులు ఓ పక్క హెరాస్ చేస్తుంటే… పెరుమాళ్ ను పట్టుకునేందుకు కుమరేశన్ గ్రామంలోకి అడుగుపెడతాడు. మరి అతనికి పెరుమాళ్ చిక్కాడా? పోలీసుల ఆగడాలకు ఫుల్ స్టాప్ పడిందా? కుమరేశన్, తమిళరసి ఒక్కటి అయ్యారా? అనేది మిగతా కథ.

నిజానికి ఈ సినిమాకు ముగింపు లేదు… ఎందుకంటే అసలు కథను దర్శకుడు వెట్రిమారన్ ‘విడుదలై’ పార్ట్ 2 లో చూపించాలనుకున్నాడు. ఇందులో ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ మొత్తం నిజాయితీపరుడైన కానిస్టేబుల్ కుమరేశన్ కష్టాల చుట్టూ తిప్పిన దర్శకుడు, సెకండ్ హాఫ్ తీవ్రవాదుల పట్ల సానుభూతి కలిగేలా కథను మలిచాడు. తీవ్రవాదులు పోలీసులపై చేసిన దాడులకు, రైలు పేల్చివేతకు కూడా బలమైన కారణాలను చూపించాడు. దాంతో మూవీ మొత్తం తీవ్రవాదుల కొమ్ము కాసినట్టుగా అయిపోయింది. దీనికి తోడు ప్రధమార్థంలో మొదటి అరగంట డాక్యుమెంటరీని తలపించింది. ద్వితీయార్థంలోనే కొంతలో కొంత కథ, కదలిక ఉంది. అయితే పోలీసుల అకృత్యాలను జుగుప్స కలిగేలా తెర మీద చూపించడం దారుణం.

తీవ్రవాదుల చర్యలను సమర్థించే వారు, వ్యతిరేకించే వారు ఈ సొసైటీలో ఎప్పుడూ ఉంటారు. అయితే… కాలం చెల్లిన ఆ సిద్ధాంతాలకు అధిక ప్రాధాన్యం ఇవ్వడమనేది సినిమా రంగంలో ఇటీవల కాస్తంత పెరిగింది. తమిళనాట పరిస్థితి ఏమో కానీ తెలుగులో మాత్రం ఇలాంటి సినిమాలను ఆదరించే రోజులు పోయాయి. చిరంజీవి, రామ్ చరణ్ నటించిన ‘ఆచార్య’, రానా ‘విరాట పర్వం’ చిత్రాలే అందుకు ప్రత్యక్ష ఉదాహరణలు. ఇక మావోయిస్టుల భుజం కాస్తూ ఆర్. నారాయణ మూర్తి తీస్తున్న సినిమాలకు ఎంతో కాలంగా ఆదరణ దక్కడం లేదు. అయినా… ఏ ఆబ్లిగేషన్ తో అల్లు అరవింద్ ఈ చిత్రాన్ని తెలుగులో పంపిణీ చేస్తున్నారో అర్థం కాదు. బహుశా మొన్న ‘కాంతార’, నిన్న ‘మాలికాపురం’ చిత్రాలను విడుదల చేసిందుకు కాంపన్ సేషన్ గా… తనకు ఇజాల పట్టింపులు లేవని తెలపడానికి ఈ చిత్రాన్ని రిలీజ్ చేస్తున్నారేమో!!

నటీనటుల విషయానికి వస్తే… కమెడియన్ గా మంచి పేరున్న సూరి ఇందులో నిస్సహాయుడైన కానిస్టేబుల్ పాత్రను అద్భుతంగా పోషించాడు. గిరిజన యువతిగా భవాని శ్రీ సహజ నటన కనబరిచింది. ఈ మధ్య కాలంలో విజయ్ సేతుపతి చేసిన పాత్రలతో పోల్చితే ఇది బెటర్ క్యారెక్టర్. తీవ్రవాద సంస్థ నాయకుడిగా బాగానే మెప్పించాడు. పోలీస్ ఆఫీసర్ పాత్రలు వరుసగా చేస్తుండటంతో గౌతమ్ వాసుదేవ మీనన్ నటనలో మొనాటనీ కనిపిస్తోంది. స్టేట్ చీఫ్ సెక్రటరీగా ప్రముఖ ఛాయాగ్రాహకుడు రాజీవ్ మీనన్ ను ఎంపిక చేయడం బాగుంది. ఆయన బాడీ లాంగ్వేజ్ పెక్యులర్ గా ఉండి ఆకట్టుకుంది. ఇక ఇతర ప్రధాన పాత్రలను చేతన్, ఇళవరసు, మున్నార్ రమేశ్, శరవణ సుబ్బయ్య, దర్శకుడు బాలాజీ శక్తి వేల్ పోషించారు. ఇళయరాజా నేపథ్య సంగీతం మూవీకి స్పెషల్ ఎస్సెట్. చైతన్య ప్రసాద్ రాసిన పాటల సాహిత్యం అర్థవంతంగా ఉంది. బాణీలు వినసొంపుగా ఉన్నాయి. ఆర్ వేల్ రాజ్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ బాగుంది. నటీనటుల, సాంకేతిక నిపుణుల పనితనం ఎంత గొప్పగా ఉన్నా… ఇలాంటి చిత్రాలు అన్ని వర్గాలను మెప్పించలేవు.

Vidudhala : What's Behind

Vetrimaaran is known for his hard-hitting films. His films Aadukalam, Visaranai and Asuran won national awards. His film Viduthalai Part 1 which was released last month got rave reviews. Now the film's Telugu version is releasing on 15 April 2023. The film is a period drama based on the short story Thunaivan written by Jeyamohan. The film's OTT rights have been bagged by Zee 5 and streaming will be done after the end of its theatrical run. The film has a star cast of Vijay Sethupathi, and Gautham Menon and let us find out what impact Vidudhala made on viewers.

Vidudhala Movie Story Review

Vidudala story is all about human values, conscience, police brutality, and injustice. Ragavender (Chetan), the Officer in charge, of E Company ill, treats new recruit, Constable Kumaresan (Soori) after he disobeys his orders while saving needy villagers.

In the meantime, Special Task Force is formed by the government's higher officials comprising of A. Subramaniyan(Rajiv Menon), Chief Secretary, Ilavarasu(Ilavarasu), Minister of Public Works to nab the dreaded Naxalite Perumal "Master" (Vijay Sethupathi) after the train bombing.

Where the Operation Ghost Hunt headed by Sunil Menon (Gautham Menon) leads to and what role Kumaresan plays and how Paapa (Bhavani Sre) connected to form the crux of the story.

Vidudhala Movie Artists Review

Soori who is known for his hilarious, light-hearted roles underwent a remarkable transformation in the role of the constable. In fact, he lived in the role and viewers immediately get connected to his character as he is spellbound by his expressions, emotions, body language, and dialogue delivery. The way he played the subdued role and then shows his intensity in enacting deadly stunts attracts everyone.

Female lead Bhavani Sre got a performance-oriented role and she justified it with her intent. She displayed good emotions and complimented Soori. Both with their performances elevated the scenes taking the film to another level.

Vijay Sethupathi makes an impression with his subtle entry and though he is not shown clearly, he makes an impact increasing the curiosity and interest levels over the second part promising a deadly confrontation during the climax. Rajiv Menon and Gautam Menon showed the authority required for the government's higher officials.

Vidudhala Movie Technicians Review

Vidudhala story by Vetrimaaran has all the ingredients that are his trademark. The story backdrop is set in the 1980s and the ill-treatment and misdeeds of the police officials, all have Vetrimaaran's previous films. Watching the narration and plot, one remembers Vetrimaaran's earlier film Visaranai in which he highlighted police brutality. Even one remembers Taanaakaran directed by Tamizh, who is the co-director of the film.

Vetrimaaran starts the narration in an intense manner with the bombings and then goes into the detailing of various characters and this generates interest among movie lovers. He highlighted the government side and the way encounters are sensationalized. The character arc of Soori is beautifully done and the people revolving around them have been shown in an effective way.

Vetrimaaran narrated the story in an interesting manner through Soori's perspective and how he thinks the police force to be the right one an later finds out the startling facts. In between Vetrimaaran touched the haves and the have-nots and the caste divide in society. Vetrimaaran got the optimum out of Soori and Bhavani Sre but a lesser screen presence to Vijay Sethupathi may disappoint his fans. The story is nothing new and Vetrimaaran tried to turn it intense and hard-hitting with his screenplay and direction.

Ilaiyaraaja with his background music recreated the 1980s atmosphere in a beautiful manner. His background music takes movie lovers into the story. However one gets a feeling that at times he overdid it.  Velraj's cinematography turned the narration captivating showcasing the mountains and other locales in a realistic and gripping way. Editing of Ramar could have been better as at times the pace dipped slowing the proceedings. The production of RS Entertainment is good.

Vidudala Movie Advantages

Vidudhala Movie Rating Analysis

Altogether, Vidudala is a hard-hitting brutal film. Vetrimaaran who directed Vidudala once again came out with a riveting film showcasing caste differentiation, police brutality, government vs Naxal ideologies, the sufferings of the common people who get crushed between police and Naxal war, and whatnot. However, this time he toned down the depiction of police brutality while depicting the atrocities of women being turned naked and other violent scenes to some extent. For all the impactful story, as Vetrimaaran followed his trademark elements, viewers aren't offered anything new. He treated a similar path with his story, screenplay, and direction. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for Vidudala.

Vidudala telugu movie review : తమిళ దర్శకుడు వెట్రిమారన్ సినిమాలకు తెలుగులోనూ అభిమానులు ఉన్నారు. ఆయన తీసిన తాజా సినిమా 'విడుదల'. సూరిగా హీరోగా నటించారు. .

తమిళ దర్శకుడు వెట్రిమారన్ (Vetrimaaran)కు తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకుల్లో అభిమానులు ఉన్నారు. ఆయన 'ఆడుకాలం' సినిమాకు ఉత్తమ దర్శకుడిగా జాతీయ పురస్కారం అందుకున్నారు. ఆయన తీసిన చిత్రాలకు జాతీయ పురస్కారాలొచ్చాయి. ధనుష్ హీరోగా ఆయన తీసిన 'అసురన్'ను తెలుగులో 'నారప్ప'గా రీమేక్ చేశారు. తమిళ  హాస్యనటుడు సూరి (Actor Soori) హీరోగా వెట్రిమారన్ దర్శకత్వం వహించిన సినిమా 'విడుదల పార్ట్ 1' (Viduthalai Part 1 Review In Telugu). విజయ్ సేతుపతి ప్రత్యేక పాత్రలో నటించారు. తమిళంలో మార్చి 31న విడుదలైంది. తెలుగులో ఈ రోజు విడుదలైంది.   కథ (Vidudhala Movie Story) : తమిళనాడు ప్రభుత్వ నిర్ణయాలు, చర్యలను 'ప్రజా దళం' వ్యతిరేకిస్తూ... ప్రభుత్వ కార్యకలాపాలను అడ్డుకుంటుంది. ఓ ప్రాంతంలో గనుల వెలికితీతను నిరసిస్తూ బాంబుల ద్వారా రైలును పేల్చేస్తుంది. ప్రజా దళం నాయకుడు పెరుమాళ్ (విజయ్ సేతుపతి)ని పట్టుకోవడానికి 'ఆపరేషన్ గోస్ట్ హంట్' పేరుతో పోలీసులు ట్రై చేస్తూ ఉంటారు. అక్కడ డ్రైవర్ కుమరేశన్ (సూరి)కు పోస్టింగ్ పడుతుంది. 

ఎన్ని శిక్షలు వేసినా, బాత్రూంలు కడగమన్నా కడుగుతాడు గానీ చేయని తప్పుకు ఉన్నతాధికారికి ఎందుకు క్షమాపణ చెప్పాలనే వ్యక్తిత్వం కుమరేశన్ ది. ప్రజాదళం నాయకులను పట్టుకోవడానికి పోలీసులు చేసే చర్యలు చూసి అతను ఏం చేశాడు? పాప అలియాస్ తమిళరసి (భవాని శ్రీ)తో అతని కథేంటి? చివరకు, పెరుమాళ్ దొరికాడా? లేదా? డీఎస్పీ సునీల్ మీనన్ (గౌతమ్ వాసుదేవ్ మీనన్) పాత్ర ఏమిటి? అనేది సినిమా చూసి తెలుసుకోవాలి. 

విశ్లేషణ (Viduthalai Review Telugu) : మిగతా దర్శకులతో పోలిస్తే... వెట్రిమారన్ శైలి భిన్నమైనది. వర్ణ వివక్ష లేదా బలహీనులపై బలవంతుల దౌర్జన్యాలు... ఈ సమాజంలో అసమానతలను సినిమాల ద్వారా ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు తీసుకొస్తూ ఉన్నారు. 

'విడుదల'ను కేవలం కథగానో, పోలీస్ శాఖకు వ్యతిరేకంగానో తీయలేదు. దీనిని ఒక విజువల్ పోయెట్రీగా చూపే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు వెట్రిమారన్. అందులో పూర్తిస్థాయి విజయం సాధించారు. వేల్ రాజ్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ ప్రేక్షకులను 80వ దశకంలోకి తీసుకు వెళుతుంది. ముఖ్యంగా కొన్ని సింగిల్ షాట్స్ వచ్చినప్పుడు అలా కళ్ళు అప్పగించి చూస్తూ ఉంటాం. ఇళయరాజా సంగీతం మరోసారి వీనుల విందుగా ఉంటుంది. సినిమాలో రెండు పాటలే ఉన్నాయి. రెండూ బావున్నాయి. నేపథ్య సంగీతాన్ని ఎవరూ గుర్తించలేరు. అంత సహజంగా కథతో పాటు ఇళయరాజా రీ రికార్డింగ్ సాగింది. పతాక సన్నివేశాల్లో యాక్షన్ సీన్లు గూస్ బంప్స్ తెప్పిస్తాయి.

కథగా చూస్తే... ఒకటి, 'విడుదల'లో కొత్తదనం లేదు. రెండు, తమిళ నేటివిటీ మరీ ఎక్కువైంది. మూడు, వెట్రిమారన్ శైలి సాగదీత ఉంది. ప్రేక్షకులు ఎవరికైనా సూరి క్యారెక్టరైజేషన్, 'ఠాగూర్'లో ప్రకాష్ రాజ్ పాత్రను గుర్తు చేస్తే తప్పు లేదు. కథతో పాటు కథనం వేరు గానీ... రెండు పాత్రల మధ్య చాలా సారూప్యతలు కనిపిస్తాయి. సూరి పాత్రలో సంఘర్షణను బలంగా ఆవిష్కరించడంలో దర్శకుడు ఫెయిల్ అయ్యాడు. 

పోలీసులలో మంచోళ్ళు, చెడ్డోళ్లు ఉంటారని చెప్పిన వెట్రిమారన్... సహజత్వాన్ని తెరపైకి తీసుకొచ్చే క్రమంలో ఇంతకు ముందు కంటే ఓ అడుగు ముందుకు వెళ్లిన ఫీలింగ్ కలుగుతుంది. మహిళలు, పురుషులు అనే వ్యత్యాసం లేకుండా దుస్తులు విప్పించిన సన్నివేశాలు వచ్చినప్పుడు ఒళ్ళు జలదరిస్తుంది. ఆ స్థాయి సీన్లను తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులు చూడలేరేమో అనిపిస్తుంది. సినిమా ప్రారంభంలో ట్రైన్ యాక్సిడెంట్ సన్నివేశాల్లోనూ గాయాలు పాలైన వ్యక్తులను చూసినప్పుడు మనకు తెలియకుండా ఒక విధమైన ఫీలింగ్ కలుగుతుంది. ప్రేమకథలో స్వచ్ఛత, సింప్లిసిటీ ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. 

'విడుదల పార్ట్ 1' చూశాక... పార్ట్ 2 కోసం అసలు కథను వెట్రిమారన్ దాచేశారని అనిపిస్తుంది. పెద్ద నెట్వర్క్ కలిగిన ప్రజాదళం నాయకుడు అంత సులభంగా అరెస్ట్ కావడం వెనుక ఏమైనా ప్లాన్ ఉందా? అనే సందేహం కలుగుతుంది. ట్రైన్ బ్లాస్ట్ గురించి పతాక సన్నివేశాల్లో విజయ్ సేతుపతి పదేపదే చెప్పడం వెనుక కూడా పార్ట్ 2లో ఏదో చూపించబోతున్నారని అర్థం అవుతుంది. ముఖ్యంగా... పత్రికల్లో వార్తల్లో వెనుక మరో కోణం ఉంటుందని, నిజాల్ని దాస్తారని సున్నితమైన విమర్శ చేశారు. ప్రతిదీ గుడ్డిగా నమ్మకూడదనే సందేశమూ ఇచ్చారు. 

నటీనటులు ఎలా చేశారు? : సూరిలో హాస్య నటుడిని చూసిన ప్రేక్షకులకు, కొత్త నటుడిని చూపించారు వెట్రిమారన్. సీరియస్ రోల్ బాగా చేశారు సూరి. పాత్రకు న్యాయం చేశారు. విజయ్ సేతుపతి కనిపించేది రెండు మూడు సన్నివేశాలే. ఆయన స్క్రీన్ మీదకు వచ్చిన ప్రతిసారీ ఒక హై వచ్చింది. పతాక సన్నివేశాల తర్వాత పార్ట్ 2 ఎలా ఉంటుందో చూపించినప్పుడు... విజయ్ సేతుపతి తప్ప మరొకరు ఆ సన్నివేశం చేయగలరా? అనే సందేహం వస్తుంది. హీరోయిన్ భవానీ శ్రీ నటన సహజంగా ఉంది. పాత్రకు సరిగ్గా సరిపోయింది. డీఎస్పీగా గౌతమ్ మీనన్ ఓకే.

చివరగా చెప్పేది ఏంటంటే? : వెట్రిమారన్ అభిమానులను 'విడుదల పార్ట్ 1' డిజప్పాయింట్ చేయదు. విజయ్ సేతుపతి నటనతో, చివరి సన్నివేశంతో ఆయన పార్ట్ 2 మీద అంచనాలు పెంచేశారు. మేకింగ్ పరంగా సినిమాలో హై  స్టాండర్డ్స్ ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. హృదయ విదారకరమైన సీన్లు కొన్ని గుండెల్ని పిండేసే విధంగా ఉన్నాయి. తమిళ నేటివిటీ, రియలిస్టిక్ అప్రోచ్ టూమచ్ అనిపిస్తుంది.

డోంట్ మిస్ : సినిమా అంతా ఒక ఎత్తు, పార్ట్ 2 కోసం ఇచ్చిన లీడ్ ఒక ఎత్తు! విజయ్ సేతుపతి, గౌతమ్ వాసుదేవ్ మీనన్ మధ్య క్లైమాక్స్ తర్వాత వచ్చే సీన్ క్లాప్స్ కొట్టే విధంగా ఉంది. అటువంటి సీన్ చేసినందుకు విజయ్ సేతుపతిని అభినందించాలి. 'విడుదల పార్ట్ 2'కు ఇది జస్ట్ ట్రైలరే.

Vidudhala Part 1 Review: వెట్రిమారన్‌ ‘విడుదల పార్ట్‌-1’ రివ్యూ

కథేంటంటే..  పోలీసులకు, ప్రజా దళం అనే ఒక రివల్యూషనరీ గ్రూప్ కి మధ్య నడిచే కథ ఇది. కుమరేశన్‌ (సూరి) పోలీస్‌ డిపార్ట్‌మెంట్‌లో డ్రైవర్‌గా పని చేస్తుంటాడు. అతనికి ఒక కొండ ప్రాంతంలో పోస్టింగ్‌ ఇస్తారు. అక్కడ ప్రజాదళం సభ్యులకు, పోలీసులకు నిత్యం ఎన్‌కౌంటర్‌ జరుగుతుంటాయి. ప్రజాదళం లీడర్‌ పెరుమాళ్‌(విజయ్‌ సేతుపతి)ని పట్టుకునేందుకుప్రైవేట్‌ కంపెనీతో కలిసి క్యాంపుని నిర్వహిస్తుంది పోలీసు శాఖ. ఇక డ్రైవర్‌ కుమరేశన్‌ అడవిప్రాంతంలో డ్యూటీ చేసే పోలీసులకు నిత్యం ఆహారం సరఫరా చేస్తుంటాడు. ఈ క్రమంలో అడవిలో నివసించే యువతి తమిళరసి అలియాస్‌ పాప(భవాని శ్రీ)తో ప్రేమలో పడతాడు.

మరోవైపు తనపై అధికారికి తెలియకుండా  కొండ ప్రాంతానికి చెందిన మహిళను కాపాడి అతని ఆగ్రహానికి గురవుతాడు. ఓసారి పెరుమాళ్‌ ఆచూకి కోసం కొండప్రాంతంలో నివసించేవారందరిని అరెస్ట్‌ చేసి స్టేషన్‌కి తీసుకొచ్చి చిత్రహింసలు పెడుతుంటారు. అందులో కుమరేశన్‌ ఇష్టపడిన యువతి తమిళరసి కూడా ఉంటుంది. పోలీసులు పెట్టే చిత్ర హింసలు చూడలేక కుమరేశన్‌ ఏం చేశాడు? పెరుమాళ్‌ కోసం సాగించే వేటలో కుమరేశన్‌ ఎలాంటి పాత్ర పోషించాడు? డీఎస్పీ సునీల్ మీనన్ (గౌతమ్ వాసుదేవ్ మీనన్) ఎలాంటి నిర్ణయాలు తీసుకున్నాడు? చివరకు పెరుమాళన్‌ దొరికాడా? లేదా? అనేదే మిగతా కథ. 

ఎలా ఉందంటే.. కల్ట్ కంటెంట్ తో సామాజిక మూలలలోకి వెళ్లి కథలని తెర పై ఆవిష్కరించి బ్లాక్ బస్టర్ హిట్‌ కొట్టే దర్శకుడు వెట్రిమారన్‌. ఆయన సినిమాల్లో అంతర్లీనంగా సమాజంలో అణచివేయబడుతున్న ఒక వర్గం వేదన కనిపిస్తుంది. మనం ఎక్కడో విన్న, చూసిన సంఘటలనే ఆయన సినిమాగా తెరకెక్కిస్తుంటాడు. విడుదల పార్ట్‌ 1 కూడా ఆ తరహా సినిమానే. 1987 ప్రాంతంలో తమిళనాడు రాష్ట్రం లోని ఒక ప్రాంతం లో జరిగే కథ. పోలీసులకు, ప్రజాదళం అనే ఒక విప్లవ పార్టీ కి మధ్య జరిగే సంఘర్షణ ఇది.

ట్రైన్‌ యాక్సిడెంట్‌తో సినిమా ప్రారంభం అవుతుంది. రైలు ప్రమాదపు దృశ్యాలను చాలా సహజంగా చూపించాడు. ఆ తర్వాత కథ మొత్తం కుమరేశన్‌ పాత్ర చుట్టూ తిరుగుతుంది. నిజాయితీగా ఉండే పోలీసులకు ఎలాంటి సమస్యలు ఎదురవుతాయి? పై అధికారులు కిందిస్థాయి అధికారులతో ఎలా ప్రవర్తిస్తారనేది కుమరేశన్‌ పాత్ర ద్వారా కళ్లకు కట్టినట్లు చూపించారు. అయితే ఈ తరహా చిత్రాలు తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులకు కొత్తేమి కాదు. పోలీసులు, నక్సలైట్ల మధ్య పోరు కారణంగా సామాన్య ప్రజలు ఎలా నలిగిపోయారనే కాన్సెప్ట్‌తో గతంలో చాలా సినిమాలు వచ్చాయి. అలాగే ఇందులో ఉన్న లవ్‌స్టోరీలో కూడా కొత్తదనం లేదు. తమిళ నెటివిటీ మరీ ఎక్కువైంది.

కాకపోతే ప్రతి సన్నివేశాన్ని చాలా సహజంగా తీర్చిదిద్దారు. కొన్ని సన్నివేశాలు హృదయాలను కలిచివేస్తాయి. ముఖ్యంగా పెరుమాళ్‌ కోసం ఊర్లోని ఆడవాళ్లను పోలీసులు హింసించే సీన్స్‌ కంటతడి పెట్టిస్తాయి. అదే సమయంలో చాలా సన్నివేశాలు సాగదీతగా అనిపిస్తాయి. పార్ట్‌ 2 కోసం కొన్ని అనవసరపు సన్నివేశాలను జోడించారనిపిస్తుంది.   క్లైమాక్స్‌ మాత్రం ఆట్టుకోవడంతో పాటు పార్ట్‌ 2పై ఆసక్తిని పెంచేస్తుంది.

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే.. కమెడియన్‌గా ఇన్నాళ్లు నవ్వించిన సూరి.. ఇందులో కొత్త పాత్రను పోషించాడు. కుమరేశన్‌ పాత్రలో సూరి జీవించేశాడు. అసలు ఈ పాత్ర కోసం వెట్రిమారన్‌..  సూరిని ఎంచుకోవడం ఆశ్చర్యం కలిగిస్తుంది. కమెడియన్‌లో ఈ యాంగిల్‌ ఎలా పసిగట్టాడనిపిస్తుంది. ఈ చిత్రంతో సూరి కేరీర్‌ చేంజ్‌ అవుతుందని చెప్పడంలో సందేహం లేదు. ఇక ప్రజాదళం నాయకుడు పెరుమాళ్‌గా విజయ్‌ సేతుపతి అదరగొట్టేశాడు. ఆయన తెరపై కనిపించేంది కొన్ని నిమిషాలే అయితే.. తనదైన నటనతో ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. పార్ట్‌ 2లో విజయ్‌ సేతుపతి పాత్ర నిడివి ఎక్కువగా ఉండబోతున్నట్లు తెలుస్తుంది.

కొండప్రాంతానికి చెందిన యువతి పాప అలియాస్‌ తమిళరసిగా భవాని శ్రీ అద్భుతంగా నటించింది. గౌతమ్‌ మీనన్‌, రాజీవ్‌ మీనన్‌తో పాటు మిగిలిన నటీనటులు తమ పాత్రల పరిధిమేర నటించారు. ఇక సాంకేతిక విషయాలకొస్తే.. ఇళయరాజా నేపథ్య సంగీతం, పాటలు బాగున్నాయి. కెమెరామెన్‌ పనితీరు అద్భుతంగా ఉంది. నిర్మాణ విలువలు సినిమా స్థాయికి తగ్గట్లు ఉన్నతంగా ఉన్నాయి.  రేటింగ్‌ : 2.75/5

Vetrimaaran is a critically acclaimed and award-winning filmmaker who made films like Visaranai, Asuran, Kaaka Muttai, etc. His latest offering is Viduthalai (Part 1) in Tamil which was released on 31st March. Two weeks later, the film is dubbed into Telugu as Vidudhala Part 1 and released today. The film portrays comedian Soori as the protagonist and Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist. This raises curiosity on the film. Will Vetrimaaran score in Telugu? Let’s check out.

Notorious and ruthless separatist leader Master (Vijay Sethupathi) of Praja Dalam, is fighting against the government and police. He is behind the deadly bombing of a train resulting in killing several innocent people. He is called a ‘Ghost’ who is untraceable and uncatchable. Operation Ghosthunt is formed by the government to nab Master. But the police and government are struggling hard to make this operation work. A small constable Kumaresan (Soori) joins as a driver in the police company. He is a sincere policeman with a heart in the right place. A serious of unfortunate incidents happen to him at work place that lead him to prove himself as police and protect his job. In this journey, Kumaresan attempts to nab Master and this is the crux of Vidudhala Part 1.

Performances

The transformation of Soori from comedian to a serious cop role Kumaresan is praiseworthy. He has stunned with his role and performance, all thanks to director Vetrimaaran who has well-designed characters in the film and choose the best artistes for them. Vijay Sethupathy as usual outstanding and brilliant as notorious naxalite Master. There is a nude scene of Vijay in the film, which was blurred due to censor, that shows his courage, passion towards the character. Gautham Menon as police boss adds a lot of value and weight. Female lead Bhavani Sri’s makeover as de-glam role is worth mentioning. Her contribution to the film is not less. The police personnel in the film are shown brutal. Rajiv Menon, Balaji Sakthivel, Chetan impress with their acting. All the actors have Vetrimaaran’s mark and delivered best performances.

Technicalities

Writing and direction of Vetrimaaran is unique. He continues this with Vidudhala as well. There is intensity and depth in characters and story around them. Visuals are striking. DOP Velraj shows his strength with the brilliant camera work. Songs have no great importance in the film and Ilaiyaraaja couldn’t do much justice to the tunes. Whereas Maestro is back with his background music score. Editing is fine. Slow-paced narration and length issues disappoint to an extent.   Highlights

Predictable Story Slow-Paced Narration Climax

Vetrimaaran returns to his favourite subject of socio-political. He has once again attempted one such with Vidudhala. Given that he is master of the genre, he dominated the film with his craft. Story-wise, it is very simple, thin and predictable. But it has a lot of depth. Like all Vetri’s films where it is about underdog or common man, here the story is led by an ordinary police constable Kumaresan who takes the centre-stage. He is innocent, honest and sincere to his job. Vetri chose perfect cast to portray the emotions intensely and impactfull. He scored brownie points here.

The initial half revolves around Soori, his world, the series of incidents that put him in trouble. At the same time, director Vetri also establishes the conflict strongly. The very opening scene of the film is train sequence where tragedy and story is unfolded. This is where the film’s conflict is also introduced without any time delay. The shots and visuals are striking that add to the story narration. 

However, Vidudhala also has its share of flaws or shortcomings. The story is predictable with slow-paced narration which puts off here and there. The entire sequence of hunt of Master (Vijay Sethupathi) in the latter half is major episode in the film. This could have been shown in a much better way. Although Master’s identity and whereabouts are identified by Kumaresan, he doesn’t run and wait for the police to attack. This is not convincingly told. The climax sequence deserves better writing and presentation. The nudity scenes are overdone but highly impactful too.

Overall, the brutal portrayal and realistic presentation is what makes Vidudhala a non-regular film and makes it a league above the rest. Vidudhala is not for all. It is a hard watch if you are a faint-hearted. But give this a try.

Vetri Maaran is one of the prominent filmmakers in the Tamil film industry, and his films consistently receive critical acclaim. His latest film, “Viduthalai Part 1,” has been dubbed into Telugu as “Vidudala Part 1.” 

Let's analyze it.

Story: Following the deadly train bombing, the police launch 'Operation Ghost Hunt' to nab Perumal, the leader of the Praja Dalam. Although the group denies responsibility for the bombing, the police and government believe they are the perpetrators.

A corporate group intends to establish a mining company in a hilly region of Tamilnadu state, and the Praja Dalam has been opposing it and fighting for people's rights.

As the operation begins, a new recruit in the police force, Constable Kumaresh (Soori), is assigned to the Police Company that is searching for Perumal.

Kumaresh is a good-natured man who believes that police should work for the people and assists the villagers. When he helps an elderly woman get to the hospital, her granddaughter Paapa (Bhavani) develops feelings for him, and they gradually fall in love.

Kumaresh's good conscience leads him to question the police's inhumane practices. Paapa, along with other villagers, is also brought in for interrogation.

How far will Kumaresh go to save his girlfriend?

Artistes’ Performances: Soori, who is best known for his comedic roles in Tamil films, shines as an earnest constable in this film. He is absolutely brilliant and delivers a performance that is both innocent and heroic, making him the main highlight of the movie.

Vijay Sethupathi does not appear in much of the film, but his story may gain prominence in the sequel, and he still has his massy moments.

Balaji Shaktivel, who plays a brutal high-ranking police officer, gives a convincing performance, and Gautham Menon and Rajiv Menen are excellent choices for their roles.

Bhavani Sre, who plays Soori's love interest, also makes an impression.

Technical Excellence: The film is equally strong in terms of technical aspects. The camera work is superb, and the drone shots of the forest are particularly impressive. The train wreck single-shot sequence is masterful, and the action sequences in the climax are brilliantly shot. The work of the fight master in the final fight is outstanding.

The music of Maestro Ilayaraja is also good, with the first romantic song standing out in particular. The background music enhances the mood.

Analysis Vetri Maaran's films have won numerous national awards due to his distinct style of highlighting the stories of marginalized communities, documenting police brutality, and exposing power abuse. His most recent film, "Asuran," was remade in Telugu as "Naarappa," so some Telugu audiences are familiar with his narrative style.

"Vidudala" is the first installment of the story, which takes place in 1987 in Tamil Nadu.

The first section of this story provides a proper character arc for the protagonist by telling the story from the perspective of a constable. The movie hooks us from the beginning with a train derailment, and Vetri Maaran makes his mark by using a documentary style to construct the drama.

Vetri Maaran focuses on the procedural aspects, so we see how the police send meals to various officers doing their duties in rough terrain and hills, even though the story seems somewhat like the regular clash of police versus Maoists or revolutionary groups.

A lot of the interrogation techniques and egos of high-ranking officers are on display as well. The film's first half is riveting, but the second half is not in the same league. There are too many disturbing scenes of torture, including police officers exposing and assaulting naked women. Furthermore, once the existence of such police torture is established, it should not have been repeated.

But that is Vetri Maaran’s style. He depicts police torture and abuse of power in a raw and realistic way, which is sometimes hard to watch on screen.

“Vidudala” ends with a glimpse of the second part, which reveals that we will be seeing more from Vijay Sethupathi.

On the whole, “Vidudala” is a typical Vetri Maaran film that has equal portions of gritty and gripping moments and some brutal scenes that are hard to watch. It is a film that appeals to those who like realistic dramas, but not for everyone.

Vidudhala Part 1 Review – Slow, Gritty Cop Drama

What Is the Film About? When Praja Dalam, a Naxal outfit, derails a train killing several people, including kids, the government appoints a special task force to eliminate them.

How Kumaresan (Soori), a recruit, becomes part of the unit catching the Naxals? What are the problems he faces due to his honesty and when he falls in love with a local village girl who has a connection with Naxals is the movie’s core plot for the first part.

Performances Soori, a comedian and supporting actor, turns a full-fledged hero with Vidudhala. He is perfect for the role offering a mix of innocence and resilience.

The initial portions are free-flowing, where Soori has to be his natural self. We see him do the regular in these sequences. However, as the narrative progresses, a sense of heaviness grows in the character, which Soori neatly showcases.

There are no big dramatic moments as Soori’s part is mostly a standby looking at all that’s happening around him. But, even within that position, Vetrimaaran creates enough heart to make it memorable for the actor.

Bhavani Sri plays a village girl. She is fine with what’s given to her. Although a critical part of the narrative, Bhavani Sri often feels lost in the crowd. However, when it matters, she delivers, and that’s all it matters.

Analysis National Award winning director, Vetrimaaran , known for his hard-hitting content, directs Vidudhala. It is a two-part movie focusing on the Naxal versus the state/police period in Tamil Nadu’s history.

Although dubbed in Telugu, except for the dubbing, everything else remains in Tamil, including the character names. In a film like Vidudhala, it works as the nativity factor remains firm, and nothing looks odd (usually due to nativity changes).

The opening credits and sequence are not to be missed as they establish the foundation for the whole movie to stand on. It is a superbly executed single-take scene covering a huge accident.

The writing and clarity of thought with the proceedings are evident from the start. There is a lot of exposition, which is fine in parts but feels repetitive and a little bloated after a point.

The main protagonist’s character establishment takes a lot of time. Simultaneously the establishment of the space, the terrain, and the key relationship is also very drawn out. It makes the first half feel lengthy. A sense of weariness creeps in by the time one reaches intermission.

Still, the gripping narrative and direction make one hooked on the proceedings despite the issues.

The second half comparatively feels better pacing-wise. The focus sharpens as everything is set up in detail. Story-wise, there is also an air of predictability, and things go on the expected path. Again, the strong direction and emotions keep one engaged.

As mentioned at the start, Vetrimaaran is known for his hard-hitting content and rawness. Vidudhala is no different, and the narrative is punctuated with a few such brutal scenes that will make one squirm with discomfort. However, in the end, one does get a feeling that not all was necessary. It feels overdone.

Like the start, the climax shooting block is also technically well handled. The action works fine. The ending is more like a new beginning for the second, concluding part.

However, a critical thing to factor in the whole movie is its politics. The film won’t hold much attention if one is not interested in them. The director tries his best to present a neutral take highlighting issues from both sides, but it is apparent which side has the heavier tilt and emotion.

Overall, Vidudhala is a realistic police versus Naxal drama that is naturally handled with much rawness. It feels lengthy and tiring due to the slow pace and content. If you don’t mind the issues and like to watch hard-hitting sagas, try Vidudhala.

Performances by Others Actors The casting for each role looks perfect. It’s why, despite so many actors, individuals register even with small or big parts.

Vijay Sethupathi has a limited presence in Vidudala, but he makes it count as he is impactful. He clearly looks like a ‘star’ among the many actors.

Chetan, Gautam Menon, and Rajiv Menon stand out from the supporting cast. Chetan appearing ordinary initially gets better as more of the character is revealed. Gautam Menon, who has turned into a full-time actor, is good. It’s a characterisation that suits his personality, and he does it easily and confidently. The same is the case with Rajiv Menon playing chief secretary.

There are many other actors with bits and pieces roles, and they have all done well. More than acting, their presence helps the setting look authentic.

Music and Other Departments? Maestro Ilaiyaraja provides the music and background score for the flick. The songs aren’t particularly memorable, but he makes up for it with the background score. One feels that is a little outdatedness to it, but it does the job and enhances the emotional appeal.

R Velraj’s cinematography is good. The grittiness of the terrain is naturally captured. It makes a few bits look shaky and blurry, but overall, things are fine. The editing could have been tidier. A song in the second half acts like a speed breaker and should have been removed. But, more than chopping the final content, things should have been sharpened at the story stage. The writing is good.

Among the many cult filmmakers in Kollywood, the name of Vetri Maaran stands tall. This time, he chose to present his product in the Telugu circuit as well so let us see if this has won some attention or not.

Story Set on the backdrop of the year 1987, Kumaresan (Soori) is an honest man who joins the police department as a driver. He is posted in a sensitive area and is now part of ‘Operation Ghost Hunt’. The operation is to nab Perumal (Vijay Sethupathi), leader of a group named Praja Dalam which is opposing a corporate company trying to do mining in the forests. Kumaresan soon locates the whereabouts of Perumal and in the process, he also falls in love with the local village girl Tamilarasi (Bhavani). However, things change when police brutality increases and the village is brought for interrogation. What happens from there forms the rest.

Performances Soori has given a stunning performance. Being a comedian, his portrayal of such a serious character is praiseworthy. Vijay Sethupathi was brief but he was impressive. Balaji Sakthivel was brutal. Gautham Menon was superb. Chetan was perfect. Bhavani was excellent. Rajiv Menon was neat. The others did their bit as required and added value.

Crew The story is written in a rustic manner and the script was alright. However, the screenplay was not compact enough leading to lags. The background score was nice and one song was worth humming. Cinematography scores the brownie points with excellent capturing of the visuals. Editing was not upto the mark. Costumes were suiting the backdrop and art department was good. Deeper Look There is a distinguished difference between Tollywood and Kollywood filmmakers and someone like Vetri Maaran has a very signature style. He is more inclined towards the realistic style of storytelling and even some of his visuals come across like a documentary. Here, he chose a very sensitive subject and as always, he has portrayed the oppression of the rural people in a big way. The film takes off in the right way and has a good momentum till the interval bang. However, the second half failed to carry the same drive. The overdose of brutality and rawness is something the Telugu audience find hard to digest. Also, few scenes were dragged to the full leading to lag and boredom. The presence of unknown faces also adds to the hiccups. Overall, the film is no doubt a good attempt to show something realistic but it went a bit overboard in terms of the treatment. At the box office, the film might have an okay collection but the sequel might have something promising as it appears Vijay Sethupathi would be seen more in it.

Vidudala Part 1 OTT Release Date: విడుదల పార్ట్ 1 ఓటీటీలోకి వచ్చేసింది. ఇప్పటికే తమిళ వెర్షన్ ఓటీటీలో అభిమానులను అలరిస్తుండగా.. తాజాగా తెలుగు అభిమానులకు జీ5 గుడ్ న్యూస్ అందించింది.

Vidudala Part 1 OTT Release Date: తమిళంలో సూపర్ డూపర్ హిట్ అయిన మూవీ విడుదలై పార్ట్ 1. వెట్రిమారన్ డైరెక్ట్ చేసిన ఈ మూవీకి ప్రేక్షకులు బ్రహ్మరథం పట్టారు. ఈ మూవీ ఆ తర్వాత విడుదల పార్ట్ 1గా రిలీజైంది. తెలుగులోనూ హిట్ టాక్ సొంతం చేసుకున్న ఈ సినిమా తాజాగా ఓటీటీలోకి కూడా వచ్చేసింది.

డైరెక్టర్స్ కట్ అంటే సాధారణ వెర్షన్ కు భిన్నంగా డైరెక్టర్ సూచనలకు అనుగుణంగా కొన్ని సీన్లను కట్ చేసి తీసుకొచ్చే వెర్షన్. తమిళంలో ఈ మూవీ డైరెక్టర్స్ కట్ అందుబాటులో ఉన్నా.. తెలుగులో మాత్రం తీసుకురాలేదు. ఈ విడుదల పార్ట్ 1లో భవానీ శ్రీ, గౌతమ్ వాసుదేవ్ మేనన్, రాజీవ్ మేనన్, చేతన్ ముఖ్యమైన పాత్రల్లో కనిపించారు. ఇళయరాజా మ్యూజిక్ అందించాడు.
