Speech about Life

Good morning one and all present here. I am standing before you all to share my thoughts through my speech about life. Life is a continuous ongoing process that has to end someday. Life is all about adoring yourself, creating yourself. A quote for you that life can be only understood backward but it must be lived forwards. Life itself is a golden opportunity to live a meaningful life and support others to do so. It doesn’t matter how many years you live. But it matters how well you live a quality life.

The fear of death always threatens our lives. Every person has to face death sooner or later, but that doesn’t mean that it should discourage us from living life to the fullest or achieving our goals. A person is wise only when he/she is ready to meet destiny when it comes, but until that time enjoys every bit of it. It is a sense of readiness. It is a journey in everyone’s life wherein we have to cross the bridge of death to be able to wake up to a life eternal.

Human life – A very Precious Gift

Human life is truly a very precious gift. Each moment of human life carries us an opportunity, to act to develop and express our virtues. Every moment unlocks the path to us to receive blessings. This is the truth that life gives us both positive and negative situations. What is really important is how we react.

Life is the gift of God in the form of trust that we will make it meaningful in whatever we can. We are all unique individuals. No one is born like you and no one will ever be, so cherish your individuality. Many times, I come across people accusing God of things that they don’t have. They always cursing their lives. But, do they realize that this life itself is precious? If we make it worth living and work hard towards positivity.

Life is a Journey, not a Destination

Life is nothing but a journey with lessons, hardships, heartache and special moments. It will ultimately lead us to our destination, our purpose in life. The road will not always be a plane; in fact, throughout our travels, we will face many challenges.

These challenges will always test our courage, strengths, weaknesses, and faith. Along our way, we may encounter obstacles that will come between the paths and we are destined to take.

In order to be on the right path, we must overcome these obstacles. Sometimes these obstacles are really blessings in disguise, only we don’t understand that at the time. The secret of life is best known to those who are not attached to anything deeply so much.

Therefore, they remain out of touch with worries and shifting fortunes of their lives. They are the people who do not measure their lives in terms of materialistic possessions, but by measuring their lives in terms of people they cannot live without.

Lastly, I will conclude that we should make life worthwhile. It should be with the love of our family and friends that life can be made beautiful. Life can be more beautiful and purposeful by discharging our duties in our family, at work, society and the world at large.

18 Short Speeches About Life

At first, I set out to craft a speech about life . But as I delved deeper into the topic, I realized that summing up the vast tapestry of life in a single speech is a tall order. Life is not just one color or a single note; it’s a vibrant spectrum, a rainbow of experiences, moments, highs, lows, lessons, and memories. Each hue represents a different chapter, emotion, or milestone that contributes to our unique stories.

I also recognize that high school students might come across these words. I fondly recall my own school days when teachers would challenge us to pen down our thoughts on life. Such assignments, seemingly simple on the surface, often pushed us to self-reflection and growth.

With these memories and audiences in mind, I present to you not just one, but multiple speeches on life. Through these, I aim to touch upon the myriad facets of our existence, hoping that each reader, regardless of their age or journey, finds a sliver of resonance, a hint of inspiration, or a moment of reflection.

Speeches About Life

Speeches about life resonate with all of us because life, in its vastness and complexity, is the shared journey we all navigate. It’s filled with rainbows of experiences, highs and lows, and tales of courage, fear, triumphs, and setbacks.

Through these speeches, we get a window into the varied perspectives, learnings, and stories of others. They offer a mirror to our own experiences, sometimes teaching us, sometimes validating our feelings, and often inspiring us to see our path in a new light.

Moreover, life speeches bridge the gap between generations.

From a teenager in high school to a professional in their prime, everyone can find a piece of wisdom or an echo of their own story in these words.

By discussing life, we unite in our shared human experience, finding solace in the thought that we’re not alone in our struggles or joys. This universality, this binding thread, is what makes speeches about life timeless and impactful.

I have delivered these speeches in Toastmasters . I share these speeches when I teach about life and leadership. I have written them in the hope that you too will be inspired to write your speech about life and be an inspiration to others.

A speech about life aims to provide insights, share personal experiences, motivate the audience, or encourage introspection about the various aspects of human existence.

They can be both. Some speakers draw from their personal journeys and lessons learned, while others tap into universal truths and shared human experiences.

No, everyday experiences can provide profound insights. It’s about the message and the perspective, not necessarily the drama of the events.

Using storytelling, anecdotes, humor, and asking thought-provoking questions can make your speech more engaging. Ensure that the content resonates with the audience’s experiences and emotions.

Focus on authenticity, clarity of message, and audience engagement. Also, incorporating relatable stories or analogies can make the content memorable.

16 Most Life-Changing Motivational Speeches & What You’ll Gain from Them

It’s all very well reading about ways to get ahead in life, but no account will ever reach you in quite the same way as hearing someone speak about their own experiences. While these people may be household names now, it wasn’t always that way, and this collection of some of the best motivational speeches will move you and inspire you to make your own dreams come true.

16 Most Life-Changing Motivational Speeches and What You’ll Gain From Them

From Arnold Schwarzenneger talking about how he filled every moment of every day with steps to fulfil his ambition of becoming Mr. Universe, to J.K. Rowling’s life as an impoverished single mother, these speeches will fill you with the drive and determination to reach your full potential, and not let anything stand in your way.

Some are long, and some last just a few minutes, but each one will make you want to grab life with both hands and go for what you want, whatever it is.

speech in english on life

“Most people have done all that they’re ever going to do – they raise a family, they earn a living, and then they die.”

That’s what we’re supposed to do, right? Wrong! Life is made for greater things, and you are meant for greater things.

When Les Brown was a child, he was labeled ‘educable mentally retarded’, and until a chance encounter with another teacher, he believed that he would amount to nothing. But this one teacher planted the seeds in Les’ head which would blossom and grow, and eventually make him one of the best motivational speakers of all time.

This speech will give you permission to rise above other people’s opinions, to break free of their prejudices, and make a success of whatever you do. Watch ‘It’s Not Over Until You Win! Your Dream is Possible’ and take those first steps towards following your passion and making your dream come true.

“Stress doesn’t come from the facts, stress comes from the meaning that we give the facts.”

Life is about choices. Every day we’re faced with hundreds of choices, and this speech by Tony Robbins will help you see that it’s the choices, not the conditions, which shape our lives.

Take a moment during this speech to pause and reflect on some choices you have made in the past, and really think about the direction your life took because of them, both good and bad. Tony Robbins explains in his inimitable way that we have the choice to focus on what we want, and that when we focus, we can achieve whatever we want.

Part of Tony’s speech explains how, when the economy is down, some people thrive and some people crash and burn, and the COVID 19 pandemic is the perfect example. Small businesses took a huge hit, and while some of them threw up their hands in despair and said ‘that’s it, it’s over for us’, others adapted, and saw it as an opportunity to expand, diversify, and turn the situation to their advantage.

And that’s the cornerstone of this video – how we react, how we adapt, and how we choose is the difference between success and failure.

“So every rep that I do gets me closer to accomplishing the goal to make this goal – this vision – into reality.”

Be inspired by Arnold Schwarzenneger as he talks about his goal of becoming Mr. Universe. Never wasting a second of his day, Arnie worked in construction, spent 5 hours in the gym, and went to acting classes, all of which took him further along his journey to making his dream come true.

We all have a propensity to waste time, but if you have a goal, if you have a passion that smolders away, take a leaf out of Arnie’s book and make sure that everything you do propels you forward.

And don’t be afraid to fail.

“Your conviction and your convenience don’t live on the same block.”

If you are a fan of The Secret, you will be familiar with Lisa Nicholls. In this video, Lisa tells Tom Bilyeu how she was willing to leave everything and everyone behind in order to grow into the version of herself that she knew she wanted.

Lisa explains how, as a young mother, she was forced to wrap her baby in a towel for two days because she had no money for diapers, and how it was at that moment that she vowed never to be that broke or that broken again.

Change, success, drive…they’re all inconvenient and disruptive, and Lisa Nicholls demonstrates that wonderfully in this emotional and highly motivating interview in which she declares “your story is not meant to be your fortress, your story is meant to be your fuel.”

Eric Thomas had a dream, a goal, and that goal was to be the best motivational speaker in the world. He didn’t achieve this by giving 70%, or 80%…he didn’t achieve it by staying in bed late in the mornings. He achieved it by giving 100% every minute of every day.

Listen to Eric’s words, hear the passion in his voice, and feel the lessons he is giving to you if you want to be the best at whatever you do.

“If we don’t take control of our environment, it takes control of us.”

This short piece by Tony Robbins has been designed to show you that you are in control of your own environment. Whether you realize it or not, what goes on around you has a massive influence on the way you feel and the way you act.

By taking leadership of your own life, you can defy outside influences and set your own tone for the day ahead, regardless of whatever or whoever is exerting pressure from the outside.

Follow Tony’s example of taking 10 minutes for yourself at the start of every day – for gratitude, prayer or wishes for family and friends, and a recap of what you want to accomplish that day, and your day will continue on that same path of thankfulness, hope, and goals.

“Your mind doesn’t know the difference between something you vividly imagined and something that’s real, literally!”

If you want to emulate the way successful people behave, take these 10 billionaires’ habits and adopt them yourself for 21 days.

Billed by Jim Kwik as being ‘like a magic pill’, these habits will rewire your brain into thinking and behaving like some of the world’s most successful people.

In this 8 minute clip, Jim shares how, for instance, your brain reacts the same way when you imagine your dog walking in as it does when your dog actually walks in, and this can apply to anything. What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.

As much as this applies to positive things, it also can be applied to negative things, so if you imagine failure, that’s what you will get. Fill your mind with thoughts of success and that’s what will happen.

None of these habits are difficult to accomplish, but in doing so you will change your entire mindset into one of a hugely successful person, no matter what you want to achieve in life.

“Don’t leave crumbs.”

If this sounds more like a housekeeping hint and less like a motivational affirmation, you’re 50% right. Our lives do need housekeeping, and not leaving crumbs – i.e. regrets – which will come back and rob your tomorrow of joy, is one of the chores you need to do on a daily basis.

Matthew McConaughey delivers a powerful speech in a gentle way at the University of Houston Commencement Address.

Discussing the five rules he lives by, he will show you how to avoid falling into a trap of entitlement, and why ‘Unbelievable’ is the stupidest word in the dictionary.

With some invaluable life lessons contained inside a highly watchable speech, Matthew McConaughey is an unlikely but very inspiring speaker who has stayed humble despite all his successes.

“There are a lot of sharks in the world; if you hope to complete the swim, you will have to deal with them. So if you want to change the world, don’t back down from the sharks.”

Spoken with eloquence and quiet assuredness, this six-minute speech draws on US Navy Admiral William McRaven’s experience of survival in the Navy Seals.

He explains how making your bed, while seemingly insignificant and even pointless, will set a series of tasks in motion which will ensure that at best, the first job of the day is done, and at worst, you have a neat, tidy bed to fall into at the end of a trying day.

The world is full of people who want to bring you down (the sharks) but if you stand your ground, they will eventually swim away, leaving you to go on to bigger and better things.

“Sometimes life’s gonna hit you in the face with a brick…don’t lose faith.”

Steve Jobs, chairman, CEO, and co-founder of Apple Inc. was hit in the face with more than one brick during his 56 years on earth. From being given up for adoption as a baby, to being fired from the very company which he founded, he never let anything get in his way.

In this commencement speech at Stamford University in 2005, Steve explained how his love for what he did spurred him on to rebuild his life in spectacular fashion.

Life dealt a further blow when, in 2003, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

This speech focuses on three stories which, when combined, show how life offers opportunities for change and growth, no matter how dire the circumstances.

Steve Jobs never graduated college, but when he died in 2011, aged just 56, he had a net worth of US$7 billion. He achieved this by doing what he loved, and in this speech he will inspire you to do the same.

“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously than you might as well not have lived at all. In which case, you fail by default.”

Let J. K. Rowling inspire you with this 2008 commencement speech at Harvard University. Extolling the virtues of failure and imagination, she tells the graduates how being at rock bottom set her free to pursue her dreams of being an author.

As poor as it is possible to be without being homeless, she created the world of Harry Potter and went on to amass a fortune of £795 million, but that without her failures in life, she would never have had the opportunity to do so.

Let her words become your own mantra, and view every failure in your life as a future success.

“We shine, because baby you just can’t dim the sun.”

A beautiful antidote for anyone who has ever felt or been told that they are ‘too much’, Gina Hatzis’ winning Speaker Slam speech of 2018 will give you permission to be unashamedly you.

Although written by a woman for women, this powerful and sometimes humorous speech about being your own authentic self will inspire anyone – man or woman – to shine and never dim their own light to suit other people.

“The first step you need to take is just that…step.”

If you are in need of a short, sharp burst of motivation, listen to this speech by ex Navy Seal, Jocko Willink.

Running for less than three minutes, this recording will inspire you to take a step into whatever you want to achieve. Awarded both the Silver Star and the Bronze Star for service, Jocko Willink is no stranger to taking those brave steps, having come face to face with Iraqu insurgents in Ramadi. He will spur you on to put one metaphorical foot in front of the other, and will leave you in no doubt as to what you need to do to achieve your goals.

“On the other side of your maximum fear are all of the best things in life.”

If you like your motivation with a side order of laughter, watch Will Smith as he talks about fear. Agreeing to skydive on a night out with friends, Will realizes that he actually has to go through with it.

Discussing how fear ruins things (he couldn’t sleep or eat before the jump), Will also discloses that beyond fear was the most blissful experience of his life, and how that principle can be applied to anything in life.

“Only those that can see the invisible, can do the impossible.”

Tyrese Gibson knows success, and in this speech he talks about how it can be achieved, by anyone who wants it.

Actor, singer, author, model…Tyrese seems to have the Midas touch, but he didn’t get it by luck. Follow his words as he gently but passionately guides you along the path you need to take if you have goals and dreams in life.

“I refuse to be another man who lived and died, and wasn’t significant’”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bzl3CQXMRVo

“If it is written, so shall it be.”

When Steve Harvey’s teacher crushed his dreams of being on TV, the one person who believed in him was his father. He told him to put a piece of paper with his dreams on in his drawer, and to read it every morning and every night.

His dreams came true.

It didn’t always come easy for Steve Harvey though – he spent years living in his car when he had nowhere else to go, but the one thing he never lost was his ambition and determination to see his dreams through to fruition.

A firm believer in the Law of Attraction, Steve still has vision boards and still commits his dreams to writing, and encourages you to do the same in this speech that made Obama cry.

These motivational speeches, and many more like them, show how having guts, determination, and a vision will get you anywhere you want to go, no matter your beginnings in life. These inspirational speakers have suffered loss, sickness, and unbelievable hardships, but the one thing that got them through was their desire to win and their belief that they could.

Immerse yourself in their words of wisdom, and take that next step into your best life.

Short speech on Life

Life is a journey filled with ups and downs, twists and turns. It is a precious gift that we should cherish and make the most of every day. Life is not always easy, and it often presents us with challenges and obstacles that test our strength and resilience. However, it is these difficulties that make us stronger and help us grow as individuals.

One of the most important things to remember in life is that we are all in this together. We all face similar struggles and obstacles, and it is through our connections with others that we can find support and comfort. Relationships with friends, family, and loved ones are essential in helping us navigate the ups and downs of life.

It is also important to take care of ourselves and prioritise our well-being. This means taking time for self-reflection, engaging in activities that bring us joy, and making a conscious effort to maintain a healthy lifestyle. When we prioritise our own well-being, we are better equipped to handle the challenges that life throws our way.

In conclusion, life is a precious gift, and we should make the most of every day. By cherishing our relationships, taking care of ourselves, and embracing the challenges that come our way, we can live life to the fullest and find happiness and fulfilment along the way.

Long speech on life

Good morning to everyone that is here. Today, I'd like to express my thoughts about life. Life is a continuous phase that must come to an end at some point. It's all about self-improvement and encouragement. Because life can only be grasped backwards, it must be lived ahead. Life itself is a fantastic opportunity to inspire others while simultaneously being inspired by others. What counts is not how many years you live, but how well you live. The fear of death continues to endanger our life. Everyone will die sooner or later, but it doesn't mean we can't live our lives to the fullest or achieve our goals.

Importance of life

An individual is intelligent only when he or she is prepared to confront fate when it arrives, yet loves every minute before that time. Human life is an extremely valuable gift. Every moment of human life presents us with a chance to act in order to grow and connect. Every second makes it possible for us to receive gifts. The fact is that life gives us both great and terrible experiences. No one is born into the cosmos like you, and no one will ever be, so cherish your independence. Life is a journey filled with lessons, hardships, heartbreak, and great moments. Finally, it will lead us to our objective, our meaning.

These difficulties will always test our bravery, talents, weaknesses, and confidence. We may encounter challenges along the route that will force us to choose one of the paths. To be on the correct track, we must conquer these obstacles. Perhaps these hurdles are simply disguised gifts, but we don't know that yet. Those who are not overly committed to something understand the mystery of life better. The finest way to appreciate life is to spend time with our family and friends. Our family was the first group of individuals that nurtured us from the start of our adventure.

Journey of life

Life is not a destination, but rather a journey filled with lessons, tribulations, and memorable experiences. It will lead us to our ultimate goal, our life's purpose. The road will not always be a plain, and we will confront several hurdles along the route.

These challenges will always test our bravery, strengths, weaknesses, and faith. We may encounter roadblocks along the route that prevents us from following the intended course. To keep on track, we must overcome these obstacles. Sometimes these impediments are blessings in disguise that we are unaware of. People who are not overly linked to anything can best understand the mystery of life. As a consequence, people are unaware of their concerns and shifting fortunes in life. They are individuals who measure their life, not in terms of worldly possessions, but in terms of the people they cannot live without. Finally, I shall conclude that we should make life more favourable. Life should be made more enjoyable by our affection for our loved ones. Life may become more purposeful when we let go of our family commitments, hectic work, society, and the world.

English Speech About Life [1,2,3 Minutes]

Short Speech About Life- Life is a gift of God and the most mysterious phenomenon for humanity. Scientists are not completely sure about what life is. There is a lot of poetry and literature work around the globe. Here below are given some speeches About life. Choose the best one for you.

Short Speech About Life- 1 Minute

Before starting my speech, I would like to wish greetings to all the people present here. It is a pleasure for me to deliver a speech about life. I hope you will like the words I formulated in my speech.

“Life” – The word contains only four alphabets but no one can assess its vastness in reality. In fact, most scientists are not pretty sure what life is. Every human has a different life story. Some of us experience a lot of good happenings in life whereas others experience the exact opposite.

But it is necessary for anyone to understand the fact that “life is full of joy, sorrow, ecstasy, difficulties, happiness , sorrow, victory, defeat etc. All of these elements are vital parts of a good life.

I use to experience every moment of my life whether it is a positive or a negative one. Because experiences make you bold and strong compared to the previous version of you.

-Thank you all

Short Speech About Life

2 minute Speech About Life Challenges

Life is an element that makes a being “living” making it possible to be called “ A Living Being “. Everyone’s life is full of good experiences and bad challenges. Good experiences are loved by all and bad challenges are not. But Bad they also are necessary for us because they make us a better person compared to the previous version of us.

Furthermore, sometimes life is full of difficulties and most people don’t like difficulties and hurdles. But A person who has not encountered challenges in life can never achieve success. In fact, one should be always ready to face adversity and challenges in life as they are the reason behind one’s personal growth .

So, I live my life to the fullest. I use to experience every moment of my life whether it is a positive or a negative one. Because experiences make you bold and strong compared to the previous version of you.

-Thank you all.

Short Speech About Life- 3 Minute

Before I deliver my speech. I would like to thank you all for having me a chance at this great opportunity. And also I wish you all the best greetings.

There is no doubt that life is wonderful and so it’s every moment. Philosophers say that life is a journey where we are encountered sorrow, joy, hurdles, happiness, success, failures etc. Definitely, it is a beautiful journey with a lot of good and bad experiences.

For me, life is a celebration of being alive, but one should always be active to face adversity and difficulties. A person who has not faced difficulties in life can never achieve success. There is no human being on earth who has not experienced struggle, difficulty or failure.

I personally believe that life becomes the way one thinks about it. I remember a proverb that can be perfectly fitted here- “ When you change the way you look at things, The things you look at change “. The same goes for life- When you change the way you look at your life , life changes the way you want. This single line of words can turn your point of view about life upside down.

But hardships and challenges in life are also essential for growth. In fact , The difficult times or the bad experiences are the best teachers for oneself. They teach us life lessons that are taught by none.

You can use some Quotes About life to make this speech more personalised.

It’s a divine gift from God, and we must instill a purpose and a path to success. Life is full of surprises and unexpected pitfalls. With inner strength, we should face life with a pinch of a smile. Life provides us with opportunities to succeed and accomplish heights of success in the world.

Short Speech About Life

Below we have provided 2 minutes short speech about life, suitable for class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 students.

Good morning to all of you present here. Today, I am going to deliver a speech on life. Life is an opportunity to contribute positively to the world. God gifts us all life. Life comes with an end, i.e., death. All people, regardless of being knowledgeable or less knowledgeable, have to face it someday. Someone who is not worried about death but lives life to the fullest is counted as one of the wisest individuals on earth. It is never essential how long we live our life, but it is always vital how well we live our moments, how many lives we touch, and what we achieve in our lifetime.

Understanding life to the fullest brings satisfaction and happiness. On the other hand, those who cannot grasp the meaning of life often find themselves complaining. Life is a process that includes happiness, sorrow, hardships, relationships, and lessons stored for all of us. We are the ones who make a difference to all these. A person who learns to be satisfied is always happy, no matter what he has or has achieved. Someone who embraces struggles and obstacles to become a better person is always successful.

A positive attitude and lively approach always make a difference in life. Life is always full of hope, and we all must make every moment of this life memorable. We all must be thankful to God for this glorious opportunity. It is a treasure for us, making everyone’s journey unique and distinct. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to speak on this topic.

Speech on Life

Below, we have provided a motivational speech about life, written in easy and simple words for classes 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. This life speech is helpful for school students who are preparing for a speech writing competition.

Good morning to one and all present here. I am here to share my thoughts on life. So, what is life? Life is a miracle or a gift given by God. It is a process that has to end someday. Life is all about living yourself. It is unique for every individual; no two people born in this world are the same. Every person carries their personality and character. Life is like a sea of opportunity to create and adore things around you.

Every human life is a blessing, which has the power to build and rebuild things. Life gives us plenty of moments where we express, create, love, help, and experience many more things. It shows us the path of success and brings happiness with time. However, we must remember that life is not always about positive things or happiness. There are sorrows, hardships, and hurdles, but what matters is how we react to such situations.

We all must learn to make this life meaningful by doing whatever is possible. We must carry positive thoughts and attitude. None of us must curse life, as it is an opportunity we got by God’s grace. We must cherish and live every day of our life. We are blessed with many relationships in this world; it is the loving family and caring friends who make our life beautiful. Family, friends, and people around us give us a purpose to live in this world.

The trust, care, and love keep us going for the rest of our lives. They all make our life worth living. Understanding our near and dear ones is vital in our lives. Life is like a trust entrusted to you. It gives you the hope to keep moving. It is like the faith in God, as we all understand that we are answerable to Him for our deeds.

Life is a journey full of ups and downs. It leads us to paths full of happiness, challenges, lessons, hardship, and special moments. We all need to keep in mind that life will not always be easy; it will have a few things to test us or challenge us. We need to accept all those and keep moving on our way. We all must know that it is the only life we got; we must ensure that we do the right things. I would like to conclude my speech with this beautiful quote:

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”

A student’s life is filled with both challenges and opportunities. Challenges come in the form of academic pressures, the struggle in balancing social and personal life, managing time effectively, and making critical decisions about career. The opportunities, on the other hand, are countless. Students have the chance to acquire knowledge, develop skills, build relationships, and also shape their personality.

The role of a student is not just limited to academics. They are the ambassadors of their respective cultures, carriers of knowledge, and the torchbearers of change. It is during student life that we learn the most important lessons of punctuality, discipline, and hard work.

In the midst of all these responsibilities and roles, it is important for students to also enjoy the journey. 2-minute Speech on Life of a Student

Good day everyone. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to speak about the life of a student, a journey that is exciting, challenging, and transformative.

The life of a student is not just about textbooks and examinations. It is a journey that molds us into individuals who can think critically, reason logically, and communicate effectively. The life of a student begins when a child steps into a school for the first time, wide-eyed and anxious, not knowing what to expect. From that moment, a student embarks on a journey of learning and discovery.

In the early years, students learn to read and write, to understand numbers and basic concepts. Every day is a new adventure, every new word learned is a small victory. The student’s world starts expanding as they discover the wonders of science, the charm of literature, and the magic of mathematics. These years lay the foundation for the student life that lies ahead.

As students progress to middle school, they experience the joy of gaining knowledge and the satisfaction of understanding complex concepts. This period is critical as students start exploring their interests and abilities. They begin to identify the subjects they love and the ones they struggle with. This is also the time when students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, which play an essential role in shaping their personality and character. They learn the importance of teamwork, leadership, and perseverance.

High school is a significant phase in a student’s life. It’s a time where they are on the brink of adulthood while still being kids. It is a period of self-discovery where one learns to balance the rigors of academics with the pressures of social life. Students face the challenge of maintaining good grades while also nurturing their hobbies and interests. High school is a time of growth, where students learn the importance of hard work, responsibility, and time management.

As a student steps into college, they are welcomed into a world of independence and freedom. College life is often considered the best phase of a student’s life, where they form lifelong friendships, explore new fields of study, and develop a broader worldview. It is a time when students take their first steps towards their career, choosing a field that interests them, and working hard to excel in it.

In conclusion, the life of a student is a journey filled with learning, challenges, and growth. It is an exciting roller coaster ride that shapes us into who we are. As students, we must embrace this journey with positivity and enthusiasm, making the most of the opportunities we are given to learn and grow. The lessons we learn during our student life are the building blocks for our future. So, let us cherish these moments, for they are instrumental in shaping our lives.

Thank you all for your attention. I hope my insights into the life of a student have resonated with you.

speech in english on life

Even though the speaker is a student in the fourth grade, her speech is one of the most interactive speeches I have seen. She starts with a game and is able to make her main point through the game itself.

English learners will enjoy her speech especially because the vocabulary she uses is simple and can be easily learned. But it does not feel like a beginner wrote this speech because she uses her words so well.

If you want to learn the art of making basic arguments while speaking, you should watch this speech. She is able to convince her audience because she is able to connect with them through games and stories.

She also uses scientific studies to back up (support) her main points.

speech in english on life

This is a short and simple speech about why everyone in the world should get an education. Because the speaker is a child, the speech does not have complex words or sentence structures.

This is also a classic example of an informative speech. The speaker presents the main argument and the facts simply and clearly . She also gives the basic definitions of important terms in the speech itself.

This speech is perfect for English listening and speaking practice because it is so short but also full of useful information. It is also a good example of the standard American English accent .

Emma Watson is a famous English actress who is best known for her role in the “Harry Potter” movie series as Hermione. She is also a United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador .

In this speech, she is trying to both inform and convince the audience  of why men should support feminism. Feminism is a movement that asks for equal rights and opportunities for women.

She mixes her formal tone with personal stories to do this. The speech is also a good example of British English .

speech in english on life

This is a speech taken from the movie “Rocky Balboa.”  In this scene, Rocky, played by Sylvester Stallone, is talking to his son.

His speech is a classic example of a motivational speech . In these kinds of speeches, a person tries to inspire someone else, especially when the listener feels hopeless or is full of shame.

The basic message of the speech is that no matter how strong a person is, he or she will always face difficulties. And even though the message does not sound positive, Stallone’s way of speaking still makes it inspiring.

Stallone is able to communicate his message with love, even though he is criticizing his son and telling him difficult facts about the world. Generally, this is called “tough love” in English.

Listeners should also notice how he uses gestures to make his point .

Compare this speech with the Oprah Winfrey and Martin Luther King speeches (later in this list). All of them inspire their audiences but have really different tones. Stallone’s speech is the most informal and personal while Martin Luther King’s speech is the most formal and written for a large audience. All these speeches are in American English.

speech in english on life

Barack Obama was the first African American elected as president by U.S. citizens. He gave this speech after he won the election.

English learners can discover a lot from his speech. Obama talks about the most important issues Americans were facing back then and are still important to them. He also uses a kind of American English that is easy to understand . His speech is mainly about the values that he and Americans stand for.

Obama’s accent is a mixture of standard American English and the way of speaking commonly popular in African American communities. He is an expert in using pauses so that the audience can follow his words without breaking his rhythm.

As the speech is longer than most others on this list, you may want to listen to it in parts rather than beginning-to-end.

Level: Advanced

  • Images, examples, video examples, and tips
  • Covering all the tricky edge cases, eg.: phrases, idioms, collocations, and separable verbs
  • No reliance on volunteers or open source dictionaries
  • 100,000+ hours spent by FluentU's team to create and maintain

speech in english on life

This speech is a perfect example of the mixture of casual and formal English . David Foster Wallace was an award-winning American writer who wrote about the culture of the U.S.

In this speech, he talks about the value of an education in liberal arts (general academic subjects, as opposed to technical/professional training). He believes that this kind of education teaches you how to think and think about others.

This is a good example of American English. Be aware that in some parts of the speech he also uses swear words (rude/offensive words) to create an emotional impact on the audience. This is very close to how people generally communicate with one another in daily life.

So, this speech is better for learning casual English even though it is a speech given at a university.

Level: Intermediate to Advanced

Charlie Chaplin is generally known for his gestures and facial expressions. In this movie, he proves that he can use speech as well to inspire and entertain the viewers.

speech in english on life

The movie “The Great Dictator” is a satire about the rise of authoritarian governments in Europe. The word “authoritarian” means a person or a government that believes in controlling others and does not believe in freedom.

In this speech, Charlie Chaplin copies Adolf Hitler , but his message is exactly the opposite of Hitler’s ideas.

The interesting thing about the speech is how Chaplin uses short sentences for the most impact . There is also a lot of repetition that makes it easy for the audience to follow the speech.

Chaplin uses the tone, rhythm and pitch of his voice to make the speech interesting instead of using varied words. Chaplin’s speech can be categorized as inspirational or motivational. It does not use formal words but neither is it casual or informal.

Oprah Winfrey is an American talk show host and actor who is known around the world for her interviews. In the 2018 Golden Globe Awards, she was awarded the Cecil B. deMille award .

Her speech at the award show is about many different topics related to American society. She is the first African American woman to be awarded the prize . She talks about how watching an African American celebrity get another big entertainment award many years ago changed her life.

She also talks about sexual assault and the search for justice in American society. The MeToo movement is the main subject of the speech.

Even though the speech is in formal English , Oprah is able to make it emotional and personal .

Learners should focus on how she uses chunking in her sentences . Chunking is the technique of grouping words (called chunks) in a sentence with a slight pause between every chunk. It also helps with intonation and the rhythm of speaking.

This is one of the most well-known speeches of the last century . Martin Luther King Jr. was a leader of the civil rights movement in the U.S. The movement demanded that people of different races should be treated equally. This speech summarized the main vision of the movement using metaphors and repetition .

The speech begins by referring to the “Emancipation Proclamation.”  The proclamation (official announcement) was an order by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863 that freed many slaves in the U.S. Martin Luther King talks about this because most of the slaves were African Americans and it was their first step towards freedom.

Advanced learners can learn about the history and cultural conflicts of America through this speech. It is also a perfect example of the use of formal English to convince other people .

Some of the words used in this speech are no longer common in American English. “Negro” is often regarded as an insult and learners should use words like “African American” instead.

This speech, delivered by the 16th president of the U.S. (Abraham Lincoln, whom we just discussed above) is considered to be one of the best speeches in English .

Lincoln delivered this in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania where many soldiers had died fighting a civil war. It was fought between Americans who wanted to ban slavery and people who did not. Lincoln was there to dedicate a graveyard to the soldiers.

In this speech, Lincoln reminds the people why this was an important war. He mentions that the U.S. was created on the values of liberty and equality. And this civil war was a test of whether a nation based on these values can last for long or not.

He honors the soldiers by saying that they have already “consecrated” the land for the people of America. (“To consecrate” means to make something sacred or holy.) He reminds the audience that they have to make sure that the idea of America as a nation of freedom continues so that the efforts of these soldiers are not wasted.

This is a very short speech . Learners can easily listen to it multiple times in a practice session. But only advanced learners can understand it since it has several difficult words in it. For instance, “score” is an outdated term used for the number 20. And when he mentions the word “fathers” in the first line he is actually referring to the leaders who had founded the country of America.

Even though Shashi Tharoor is not a native English speaker, his English is so fluent that he sounds like one. Learners from India will instantly recognize him because he is famous there for his English skills.

In this video, he is giving a speech as a part of a debate at Oxford University . He lists out arguments that support the idea that the U.K. should give reparations to its colonies. “Reparations” are payments to a country or community for some harm done to them. A colony is a region or a country that is controlled by another country by force.

Britain had a large number of colonies throughout the world between the 16th and 20th centuries. In this speech, Tharoor tries to convince his audience that the U.K. should give something for the damage they did to the countries they had colonized.

This is one of the finest examples of a formal speech in today’s English . Learners who want to go into academics can learn how to organize their arguments with evidence.

The speech is also great for vocabulary practice . Plus, Tharoor has deep knowledge of both the national history of the U.K. and the colonial history of India. Apart from the content of the speech, his way of speaking is also impressive and is similar to formal British English .

This speech is part of a play called “Julius Caesar”  written by William Shakespeare. The play is based on the life and murder of Caesar who was a leader of the Roman Empire. The speech is considered to be one of the finest pieces of English literature .

It is also one of the best examples of the use of rhetoric (the art of speaking and persuasion).

Mark Antony makes this speech after Caesar is killed by other leaders of the Roman Empire. Antony was a close friend of Caesar’s and here he tries to remind the people of Rome that Caesar was actually a good man. He has to convince the people that his murderers like Brutus are actually criminals. But he has to do so without directly blaming the murderers.

Advanced learners should know this speech mainly because of its cultural value.

Many words in this speech have been replaced by other words in today’s English. “Hath” is the older form of “has” or “had.” “Thou” has also been replaced by the word “you.”

So rather than memorizing the vocabulary, learners should focus on how Damian Lewis delivers the speech instead. The intonation, tone, pitch and rhythm is similar to the formal English used today. He is also good at conveying emotions through pauses and expressions.

Speech on success in life

Success in life speech : India’s former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam once said, ‘ Man needs his difficulties because they are necessary to enjoy success.’  Success is not given or gifted. Success is earned with commitment and perseverance; whether it is academic or professional success. Everyone aspires to be a better version of themselves and wants to live prosperous lives. But do you know what it takes to become successful?

2-Minute Speech on Success in Life

‘Good morning my friends, teacher (s). My today’s speech topic is ‘Success in life’. Which person comes to your mind when you think of the most successful person in the world? Is it Elon Musk? Or Mukesh Ambani? I am sure it is some top-level businessman or celebrity.

Lifelong happiness, financial security, personal development, a positive atmosphere, leading a healthy lifestyle, etc. are all signs of success. Who doesn’t want these things in life? We all wish for a better life for ourselves and our loved ones. But first, there are certain things we must focus on and take action on.

Having a goal is very important. Goals act as our guiding stars, providing direction and purpose. Let me tell you something; success is a journey and not a destination. We all have our role models. Some of us like movie stars, some sportspersons, others any businessperson or any popular figure. If you look at their life journey, they all started from somewhere and drafted a plan for themselves.

Success demands sacrifice, discipline, and hard work. Life is not just rainbows and sunshine. There will be obstacles along the way, but it’s your determination and resilience that will propel you forward. Embrace challenges as opportunities to grow and learn, and remember that setbacks are not failures but stepping stones to success.

Bruce Lee, the famous martial artist and actor, didn’t earn fame overnight. Bruce Lee’s success was not only physical but also rooted in his philosophical approach to life. Here’s one brilliant quote by him, ‘Absorb what is useful, discard what is not, add what is uniquely your own.’

Next time you see a successful person, don’t just look at the car he is driving or the expensive watch he’s wearing. Think how hard he might have worked to achieve all those luxurious things.’

Long Speech on Success in Life

‘Hello and welcome to everyone present here. Today, I stand before you to present my ‘Success in Life speech’. Our every action must have a purpose. There are ups and downs in life, challenges that will shake you off your foundation, emotional breakdowns, and sometimes bad luck. But what if you bounce back all the challenges that stand in your way? Can you imagine your success, which is solely based on your hard work, determination, discipline, and perseverance? Take a moment and think about what your successful life will look like.

Depending on your interests and hobbies, think of a goal that you wish to achieve. With a specific goal or target in mind, you can work in the right direction and focus solely on your purpose. If you ask me, I would take some time to reflect on my aspirations and let them serve as beacons lighting my path toward success.

Success is not achieved overnight. It’s a lifelong process. Usain Bolt, the fastest man on the planet won his first Olympic gold medal after 10 years of deliberate practice. He achieved success because he believed in himself and his hard work.

Nothing good comes for free. It requires sacrifice, determination, and a lot of hard work. The journey to success is not always smooth. It is marked by challenges, obstacles, and moments of self-doubt. In times like these, when you feel like giving up, resilience becomes your greatest ally. Resilience, it’s the ability to bounce back from setbacks, to learn from failures, and to persevere in the face of adversity.

Do not let the absence of challenges define who you are, but rather how you respond to them.

Success is intertwined with a commitment to continuous learning. We need to embrace every opportunity life offers, as it can expand our knowledge, develop new skills, and to adapt the ever-evolving world.

Surround yourself with like-minded people, people who inspire you, support and challenge you to influence your mindset and shape your journey toward success. You can’t stop the inevitable, but you can learn from the mistakes you made.

We are all in the same boat here. What we do today will define who we become tomorrow. So let’s cheer each other, and focus on our goals, not materialistic things. We all have only one life. Let’s make it count.’

About Speech on Success

Success is not something which we achieve in a day or year as it is a process of achieving your goals and feeling good about yourself. The definition of success changes from one individual to another. For some success could be doing your dream job, having a car or it could just be marrying a person you love the most. The definition of success changes and it is not the same for everyone.

Everyone around the world is running behind success as it is believed that success would solve all problems. Is success the same for everyone? and will successfully solve all the problems? and what elements will help in making a person successful? All the answers to the questions are given below in the speech on success. Students can refer to these speeches on success and try to understand the important elements required to be successful in life.

Here we have provided a long and short speech on success and along with that we have also given 10 line pointers about the motivational speech on success in English.

The road to success does not happen overnight. Whether they are large or small, your everyday actions, activities, and encounters ultimately determine your success. Success comes when persistence and hard work are combined. Only perseverance and commitment can lead to success.

As a group, we understood that we could not achieve something without giving up something. Success demands a similar amount of sacrifice. Anyhow, you'll be able to accomplish your goal if you perform these penances. In any case, many people achieve success. The result is however that they fall behind in terms of achieving mental, social, and physical success. A lack of success in different areas causes them to become separated. It has sometimes happened that individuals have become so fixated on success that those around them find themselves feeling awkward around them. There have been times when they have gone frantic. Aside from that, if one is not making progress as fast as others, they can become discouraged. With this in mind, we can conclude that success has been severely damaged.

Long Speech on Success in English

Good morning to everyone present today. I feel humbled that I was allowed to give a speech on success. I hope everyone learns new things and your definition of success changes.

So what is success? and why is everyone running after it? We live in a period where everyone wants to be successful. They want to accomplish something in their life. It could be to get the dream job or get good grades on the exams. The point which I want to prove is that the definition of success changes from one person to another. The person sitting next to you will have a completely different view of success compared to you so there is no definite definition of success for everyone around the world.

But success could be simply defined as the satisfaction one gets after accomplishing the goals. Let us take the example of the students sitting here and we all know that every student in school aspires and aims to be successful in school. Being successful in academics and getting good grades is the dream of every student. They need to do it to achieve their goals and be successful in life.

Students let me tell you the road to success is not easy and if was easy everyone would have been successful. Success is also not achieved in a day or a night. It is a long steady process that requires hard work, commitment, and sacrifice.

Students let me tell you that the amount of success a person achieves is directly related to the number of things that person has sacrificed in life. I want you all to understand this concept of sacrifice because it is required for you to become successful. I truly believe that if you are not ready to sacrifice the things that are dearest to your heart, you won’t achieve anything in life. I don’t mean that sacrificing things such as not even food or playing, those activities are required for the proper functioning of your brain. Not playing video games or watching television is the sacrifice you have to make if you want to get good grades in school. You can do fun activities when you are free and not when your examinations are approaching. It is very important to invest your time in studying when needed.

The next important thing that one should have to be successful in life is a firm blueprint to accomplish your goals. Students should plan accordingly to reach their goals and accomplish wonders. Blueprint is required and the first step in making a blueprint is to invest your time in your goals which could be done by preparing a good timetable. Students as we all know lost money could be earned back in the future but the time lost cannot be gained back. Time is the most valuable asset of anyone’s life and it is very important to figure out how to invest it and on whom we should invest it. Investing your time to develop a new skill and cultivate it in the future is what most successful people do. You might have heard about Elon Musk. He is the world’s richest person and people think he is the richest because he has money, the answer is no, he is the richest because of the goals he has accomplished throughout his life.20 years back he had invested his time in learning new skills and inventing new things and the time he invested back then has given him the status of the world richest man today. All I want to say to all the students present here is they do dream about a good life, do dream about a goal or a job that will settle your but it is also required that you have to work on that, you have to water it every day so that it will yield you the success you want in the future.

Students to be successful you have to go through failure. Facing failure fearlessly is required if you want to achieve your goals. Many people don’t take risks because they fear failure and those are the people who never become successful in life. Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Mukesh Ambani, and many more are known for taking risks in life. What would have happened if Mukesh Ambani did not take the risk of introducing the Jio 4G network? We could still be using other networks and mostly our online learning could have been affected. Students, what I am trying to say is that taking a risk in life is very important and you may encounter failures. Facing failures is important as something that is the only thing that guides us through our journey to success. Do not be afraid of failure and always remember that when you fail forward and learn from it.

To conclude this speech I want to say that Success plays an important role in a person’s life. It is very important to be successful if you want to be recognized by the world but keep in mind that success is not the final stage of your life, it won’t solve all of your problems. We often hear that many people take success too seriously and have mental health issues like anxiety and depression. Having a goal in your mind and working towards it is very important but it does not mean being too serious about it. Work on the process of becoming successful rather than running after it. Spend time with your family and friends while you are working on your goals and please enjoy life I am successful with time. Success will come to you if you have invested your time in it.

Thank you.

Short Speech on Success in English

Good morning to everyone present here today. I feel honored to be allowed to give a small speech about success in school. I hope this speech helps you in understanding what success means.

Success does not have a definite definition as it varies from one person to another. Success could be simply defined as the satisfaction a person gets by achieving his or her goal. Success does not come without any problems as the road to success is filled with many hurdles. To achieve success one needs to be determined in life and have a plan to accomplish that goal.

Success is directly proportional to the amount of hard work and the time you have invested in achieving that goal. hard work here to work physically which makes you tired but it just means that you have to prioritize important things that will make you successful and work towards it. Failure is the most important step in achieving your goals. Many of us fear as we think that it will not make us successful but sometimes failing is important as it helps in determining your path. Imagine what would have happened if Thomas Edison hesitated while he worked on discovering light? the world would have still been dark. Don’t fear failure, face it as it will help in achieving success.

To conclude this speech I want to say that the three most important things required for a person to be successful are Hard Work, failure, and having a timetable. Most successful people are very good at managing their time and it is required that if you want to succeed in life you also have to learn the skill of time management. Lastly do not take success too seriously as it will affect your health and the relationships around you. Work on the process of achieving your goal and I will be successful in life. Thank you.

FAQs on Speech on Success

1. What's the definition of success in life?

It is possible for your definition of what success means to change; however, most people describe it as being content, upbeat, sheltered, well-constructed, and cherished. You need to be able to achieve your objectives whatever they may be in daily life. Success in life means that a person can attain what he/she has desired throughout their entire life. Your ambitions, dreams, and aspirations about how you want your life will determine how successful you are. You already have a successful life if you are proud of everything you have accomplished.

2. What is Success according to you?

For those of you who haven't decided what success means to them, there is an exercise you can try: Take 15 minutes and write words, symbols, or pictures that describe what success is for you. If you are struggling with ideas of success, you could focus on your immediate aims or near-term goals. If you start documenting a successful life for yourself, you might be inspired to examine the whole of your life. Here are some questions you might ask yourself:

How does happiness make me feel?

Is there any area in my life where I have already succeeded?

How can I apply that experience?

Did I learn anything from my failures?

What is my role model?

Which is the most important thing to me?

And how will I remember myself?

Our daily engagements and energizing activities are much better measures of success.

Natural abilities are often what motivate and engage us in the very activities that energise us.

Manage a team or grow a business if you have strong influencing or relationship skills. Maybe you thrive on solving complex problems, developing strategies, and developing visions. You're inspired by new ideas and produce your best work when you have time to think and reflect. However, deadlines and multiple projects also feel like an adrenaline rush to you.

3. Is success the only thing that matters?

It is not success that makes us happy. Often, society defines happiness as how much success you can achieve. We are extremely focused on creating success as a society. The concept that happiness results from success have become intoxicating:

I would be delighted to get promoted.

Success will make me happy.

My success will be measured by the factor of 12 increase in the share price of my company

and therefore, I will be pleased

All of these assumptions are false. Achieving success does not guarantee happiness. Success is a relative concept in everything that we do: the more successful we become, the higher the bar for defining success, making achievement more difficult.

The good news is that this is great for business, but if it's what determines your happiness, you'll end up unhappy. Big numbers always make people unhappy.

Although the difficulty level increases as the bar are next raised, the level of happiness remains unchanged.

4. How does success hurt us?

It is common knowledge that one cannot achieve something without sacrificing something. To achieve success, one has to sacrifice a variety of things. Even though these sacrifices may seem futile, they will not be in vain if you achieve your goal. Yes, many people become successful in their field but fail to achieve success in their mental, social, and physical lives. The tension of not being successful elsewhere is what draws them apart.

Oftentimes, people become obsessed with success to the point that the people around them become uncomfortable around them. This is sometimes considered madness. In addition to this, people get depressed if they do not succeed like other people. Therefore, success comes with a lot of disadvantages.

 5. Does hard work correlate with Success?

Even though it may sound unfit to some people, hard work is essential to success. Success cannot be achieved without hard work. Laborious and sweaty work does not constitute hard work. A healthy body, a strong mind, willpower, and a positive mindset are all elements of hard work. You need the energy to achieve all of those things. Take care of yourself physically and emotionally. You should also do more than just work on your program, push yourself to the limit, take responsibility for other things, and improve your skills. Apart from that, you should associate with positive people, develop positive habits, and continue exercising for both the body and your mind.

Essentially, we can say that success is like a seed that needs a balanced proportion of all its components. Success can never be achieved in a day; one must undergo and deal with different conditions in life to achieve success. When you achieve your goal, you are feeling a sense of fulfilment, which is called success.

Frequently Asked Questions on the Importance of English Language

A couple of sample speeches are given below. Go through them, utilise the resources, and prepare a speech about the importance of the English language on your own.

Have you ever wondered about our condition if there was no common language like English to share our thoughts and feelings with one another? There are numerous languages in our world. Most countries have a national language, and there are multiple regional languages within a nation. The English language is a great boon in such situations; it serves as a common language and helps everyone to communicate.

The English language bridges the gap between nations and offers everyone the possibility of attaining wide exposure. The adoption of the English language as the principal source of communication has resulted in increasing international relationships in travel and tourism, education, business, entertainment, science, technology, and so on.

The English language helps individuals to transcend international boundaries and get a global reach. For example, a book written in English will get far better reach than a book written in any of the regional languages. A regional language has limitations; it cannot be understood by anyone who doesn’t know it; as a result, the audience will be minimal. A common language like English will eradicate this limitation and help everyone to connect with wider audiences. Similar is the condition for any content presented in English.

The worldwide reach of the English language is the main reason for setting English as the language of the internet. By knowing the English language, a person can easily access all the information on any topics that are available on the internet. English content like songs, movies, news, entertaining programmes, public events, and all can be enjoyed by everyone who knows the language. Like the words of Frank Smith, “One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way”. Let’s try to learn more languages and open every opportunity in our lives.

Speech on the Importance of Learning English

The English language was initially the national language of England. Later, as a result of British imperialism and colonisation, the language was introduced to many nations. Eventually, it became the primary and secondary language of their colonies, such as India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Canada etc. Gone are the times when the British ruled over more than half the world, but their language is still ruling almost half the entire world.

Today, nearly sixty-seven countries all over the world have declared English as their official language, and twenty-seven countries consider English as their secondary language. Without a second thought, we can declare the English language as one of the most dominant languages in the world.

The English language is the key to opening the door to the world. It is one of the most used languages in the world. The knowledge of the English language helps everyone to attain personal and professional growth. As a result, people all over the world have started to learn English as a second language. Many nations have included English as their second language in their school curriculums to assist students in learning English at a young age. Almost all the materials and subjects for learning are drafted in English to make it more accessible for everyone all around the world. The initiative of using the English language as a medium of instruction in schools and colleges brings a commonality to the structure of education and brings multiple positive impacts to the students.

Good communication skills in English is considered one of the most important soft skills required for an employee. Other than this benefit provided by the English language, it helps us understand different nations’ cultures. A piece of good knowledge in English guides us to travel to any new nation. With the support of good understanding and communication skills, a person can easily transfer ideas and thoughts to one another. An insight of the English language increases the chance of setting up a good career.

The impacts brought by the English language on our lives are boundless. Let’s realise the true potential of language and remember the words of Roger Bacon – “Knowledge of languages is the doorway to wisdom.”

How did English become a global language?

The English language is one of the most dominant languages in the world. The English language was initially the national language of England. Later, as a result of British imperialism and colonisation, the language got introduced to many nations. Eventually, it became the primary and secondary language of their colonies, such as India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Canada etc. Today, nearly sixty-seven countries all over the world have declared English as their official language, and twenty-seven countries consider English as their secondary language.

What is the importance of learning English?

The English language bridges the gap between nations and offers everyone the possibility of attaining wide exposure. The adoption of the English language as the principal source of communication has resulted in increasing international relationships in travel and tourism, education, business, entertainment, science, technology, and so on. The English language helps individuals to remove international boundaries and helps them to get a global reach.

List some advantages of the English language.

  • English is considered the principal language of communication by many nations, and everyone has accepted it as the global language.
  • The English language knowledge helps everyone attain personal and professional growth.
  • A piece of good knowledge in English guides us to travel to any new nations.
  • English helps every content creator to receive a wider audience.
  • The English language helps us to enjoy content like songs, movies, news, entertaining programmes, public events and so on.

The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW Washington, DC 20500

Remarks by President   Biden Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of D-Day | Collevile-sur-Mer, France

Normandy American Cemetery Colleville-sur-Mer, France

2:01 P.M. CEST      THE PRESIDENT:  The hour had nearly come.  Monday, June 5th, 1944.

The evil of (inaudible) Third Reich was devastating the world.  Nazi Germany had subjugated the once-free nations of Europe through brute force, lies, and twisted ideology of racial superiority.  Millions of Jews murdered in the Holocaust.  Millions of others killed by bombs, bullets, bloody warfare.  Hitler and those with him thought democracies were weak, that the future belonged to dictators.  Here, on the coast of Normandy, the battle between freedom and tyranny would be joined.  Here, on that June morning, the testing was at hand.  President Macron, Mrs. Macron, Secretary Austin, Secretary Blinken, distinguished guests.  Most of all, our honored veterans, who met that test to the ages — a test of ages to that moment 80 years ago — 80 years ago today.  (Applause.)

On behalf of the American people and as Commander-in-Chief, it’s the highest honor to be able to salute you here in Normandy once more — all of you.  God love you.  (Applause.)  Winston Churchill called what happened here, quote, “the greatest, most complicated operation ever,” end of quote.  After years of planning, Operation Overlord was ready to launch just as soon as the weather turned.  Across the choppy Eng- — choppy Eng- — English Channel, the Supreme Commander of the Allies, Dwight D. Eisenhower, waited.  The largest force ever of its kind, built by 12 nations — men, guns, planes, naval craft of every description — waited.  The world, captive and free, waited.  Finally, Eisenhower’s forecasters said there was a window in the weather.  It would open briefly on Tuesday the 6th of June.  The general weighed the options and gave the order: At dawn, the Allies would strike.  The “Great Crusade” to free Europe from tyranny would begin.  That night, General Eisenhower drove to the English town of Newbury to visit paratroopers of the 101st Airborne.  They were men from all over America.  It was estimated that 80 percent of them would be killed within hours.  That was the estimate.  But they were brave, they were resolute, and they were ready.  One soldier told General Eisenhower, quote, “Don’t worry, sor- — sir.  The 101st is on the job.  Everything will be taken care of.”  That’s what he said. And because of their courage and their resolve, because of the courage and resolve of their allies, it was taken care of.   From the sea and sky, nearly 160,000 Allied troops descended on Normandy.  Many, to state the obvious, never came home.  Many survived that “longest day,” kept on fighting for months until victory was finally won.  And a few, a noble band of brothers, are here with us today.  Kenneth Blaine Smith is here.  On that day, under heavy artillery fire, he operated a range finder and radar on the first American ship to arrive at Normandy’s coast, providing direct gunfire support for the Rangers scaling the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc on their daring mission to take out the German batteries.   Bob Gibson is here.  He landed on Utah Beach about 10 hours after the invasion began.  Bullets flying everywhere.  Tracers lighting up the sky.  Bob drove an M4 tractor with an anti-aircraft gun mounted on top, providing critical protection for the infantry against the German air force.  On that day and for many days after, he continued.  Ben Miller is here.  A medic with the 82nd Airborne.  At 3:00 a.m. on June 6th, he and 13 other medics flew over the Channel in a rickety glider.  Its wings were ripped off by giant poles that the Germans buried halfway in the ground to stop them from landing.  They crashed, but they survived.  And they did their duty: dragging injured soldiers to safety, treating wounds, saving lives while the battle raged.  Every soldier who stormed the beach, who dropped by parachute or landed by glider; every sailor who manned the thousands of ships and landing craft; every aviator who destroyed German-controlled air fields, bridges, and railroads — all — all were backed by other brave Americans, including hundreds of thousands of people of color and women who courageously served despite unjust limitations on what they could do for their nation.  Louis Brown is here.  Part of the “Red Ball Express,” a truck convoy made up mostly of African American drivers.  They landed at Normandy in the wake of D-Day.  They rushed supplies to the rapidly advancing frontlines.  Woody Woodhouse is here.  Members of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen, who flew over 15,000 sorties during the war.         Marjorie Stone is here.  She enlisted in the women’s branch of the Naval Reserve, became an aircraft mechanic, spent the war keeping American planes and pilots in the air.  Theirs has always been the story of America.  Just walk the rows of this cemetery, as I have.  Nearly 10,000 heroes buried side by side, officers and enlisted, immigrants and native-born.  Different races, different faiths, but all Americans.  All served with honor when America and the world needed them most.  Millions back home did their part as well.  From coast to coast, Americans found countless ways to pitch in.  They understood our democracy is only as strong as all of us make it, together.  The men who fought here became heroes not because they were the strongest or toughest or were fiercest — although they were — but because they were given an audacious mission knowing — every one of them knew the probability of dying was real, but they did it anyway.  They knew, beyond any doubt, there are things that are worth fighting and dying for.  Freedom is worth it.  Democracy is worth it.  America is worth it.  The world is worth it — then, now, and always.  The war in Europe didn’t end for another 11 months.  But here the tide turned in our favor.  Here we proved the forces of liberty are stronger than the forces of conquest.  Here we proved that the ideals of our democracy are stronger than any army or combination of armies in the entire world.   We proved something else here as well: the unbreakable unity of the Allies. Here with us are men who served alongside the Americans that day, wearing different flags on their arms but fighting with the same courage, for the same purpose.  What the Allies did together 80 years ago far surpassed anything we could have done on our own.  It was a powerful illustration of how alliances — real alliances — make us stronger — a lesson that I pray we Americans never forget.   Together, we won the war.  We rebuilt Europe, including our former enemies.  It was an investment in what became shared and a prosperous future.  We established NATO, the greatest military alliance in the history of the world.  And over time — (applause) — you got it; it is — and over time, we brought more nations into NATO — the NATO Alliance, including the newest members: Finland and Sweden.  (Applause.)  Today, NATO stands at 32 countries strong.  And NATO is more united than ever and even more prepared to keep the peace, deter aggression, defend freedom all around the world.  America has invested in our alliances and forged new ones — not simply out of altruism but out of our own self-interest as well.  America’s unique ability to bring countries together is an un- — undeniable source of our strength and our power.  Isolationism was not the answer 80 years ago, and it is not the answer today.  (Applause.) We know the dark forces that these heroes fought against 80 years ago.  They never fade.  Aggression and greed, the desire to dominate and control, to change borders by force — these are perennial.  And the struggle between a dictatorship and freedom is unending.  Here, in Europe, we see one stark example.  Ukraine has been invaded by a tyrant bent on domination.   Ukrainians are fighting with extraordinary courage, suffering great losses, but never backing down.  (Applause.) They’ve inflicted on the Russian aggressors — they’ve suffered tremendous losses, Russia.  The numbers are staggering — 350,000 Russian troops dead or wounded.  Nearly 1 million people have left Russia because they can no longer see a future in Russia.  The United States and NATO and a coalition of more than 50 countries standing strong with Ukraine.  We will not walk away — (applause) — because if we do, Ukraine will be subjugated.

And it will not end there.  Ukraine’s neighbors will be threatened.  All of Europe will be threatened.  And make no mistake, the autocrats of the world are watching closely to see what happens in Ukraine, to see if we let this illegal aggression go unchecked.  We cannot let that happen.  To surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators is simply unthinkable.  (Applause.)  Were we to do that, it means we’d be forgetting what happened here on these hallowed beaches.  Make no mistake:  We will not bow down.  We will not forget.  Let me end with this.  History tells us freedom is not free.  If you want to know the price of freedom, come here to Normandy.  Come to Normandy and look.  Go to the other cemeteries in Europe where our fallen heroes rest.  Go back home to Arlington Cemetery.  Tomorrow, I will pay respects at Pointe du Hoc.  Go there as well and remember: The price of unchecked tyranny is the blood of the young and the brave.  In their generation, in their hour of trial, the Allied forces of D-Day did their duty.  Now the question for us is: In our hour of trial, will we do ours? We’re living in a time when democracy is more at risk across the world than at any point since the end of the World War Two — since these beaches were stormed in 1944.  Now, we have to ask ourselves: Will we stand against tyranny, against evil, against crushing brutality of the iron fist?  Will we stand for freedom?  Will we defend democracy?  Will we stand together?  (Applause.) My answer is yes.  And it only can be yes.  (Applause.) We’re not far off from the time when the last living voices of those who fought and bled on D-Day will no longer be with us.  So, we have a special obligation.  We cannot let what happened here be lost in the silence of the years to come.  We must remember it, must honor it, and live it.  And we must remember: The fact that they were heroes here that day does not absolve us from what we have to do today.  Democracy is never guaranteed.  Every generation must preserve it, defend it, and fight for it.  That’s the test of the ages.  In memory of those who fought here, died here, literally saved the world here, let us be worthy of their sacrifice.  Let us be the generation that when history is written about our time — in 10, 20, 30, 50, 80 years from now — it will be said: When the moment came, we met the moment.  We stood strong.  Our alliances were made stronger.  And we saved democracy in our time as well.  Thank you very much.  And may God bless you all.  And may God protect our troops. Thank you.  (Applause.)  2:17 P.M. CEST

Protecting the NRA’s Freedom of Speech Rights Protects Us All

David Cole

It should be obvious that government officials can’t deploy their regulatory authority to punish an advocacy group because they disagree with its point of view. Yet that is exactly what Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) and his chief financial regulator, Maria Vullo, set out to do in 2018.

They favored gun control, and therefore disfavored the National Rifle Association. Cuomo and Vullo were of course free to criticize the NRA. But rather than just rely on the persuasive force of their ideas, they deployed the coercive power of their offices to pressure banks and insurance companies to cut ties with the NRA, as alleged.

On May 30, the US Supreme Court in effect confirmed what should have been obvious, unanimously ruling that Vullo’s and Cuomo’s alleged words and actions stated a claim under the First Amendment. In doing so, the court overturned a unanimous decision from the Second Circuit against the NRA. The decision makes no new law, but reaffirms what’s been established since the Supreme Court announced, 60 years ago, that government officials can’t use informal coercion to punish speech they disfavor.

The critical facts alleged in NRA v. Vullo are stark. In February 2018, Vullo, New York’s top financial regulator, with direct oversight of every bank and insurance company in the state, told Lloyd’s, the insurance underwriter, that she’d go easy on unrelated insurance violations if it aided her campaign to weaken the NRA by halting all business with the group. Lloyd’s agreed, and did her bidding.

Six weeks later, Vullo issued formal guidance letters and a press release directing the thousands of banks and insurance companies she oversees to cut their ties with the NRA—not because of any alleged improprieties, but because it “promotes guns.” In the accompanying press release, Cuomo said he directed Vullo to issue the guidance because doing business with the NRA “sends the wrong message.”

This was not about enforcing insurance law; it was about using state power to coerce a boycott of a political group because the state’s highest officials disapproved of its speech. As Cuomo put it in a tweet responding to the NRA’s subsequent lawsuit, “The regulations NY put in place are working. We’re forcing the NRA into financial jeopardy. We won’t stop until we shut them down.”

Had the court accepted Vullo’s argument that this was merely “government speech” and ordinary law enforcement, as the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit did, the decision would have provided a playbook for state officials across the country to blacklist whichever groups they disfavor.

That’s why the American Civil Liberties Union agreed to represent the NRA in the Supreme Court. The ACLU disagrees profoundly with the NRA on many issues of law and policy, but we agree that government officials can’t punish advocacy groups simply because they disagree with what they say.

The court’s unanimous decision ensures that officials can’t achieve indirectly what they are barred from achieving directly: punishing speech simply because they disagree with its message. That principle is foundational to a free and democratic society. And the Vullo decision ensures that the First Amendment’s protection extends not just to direct penalties, but to the sorts of end runs that Vullo and Cuomo attempted in targeting the NRA.
