The 10 best PowerPoint Games to play in Workshops, Classrooms & Presentations

In our last blog post, we talked about tools and tips on how to boost the audience engagement in your presentation. One of our recommended ways to do so was to play games, as they release tension and function as a fun element that lightens the mood. That’s why today we are going to list the Top 10 best games to play in your presentation.

1. Would you rather

Is it a game that everyone knows already? Probably. But did we have to include it on the list because it is just perfect for playing with your audience? Definitely. The game is pretty much self-explanatory – You give your attendees two (or more) scenarios and they have to choose which one they’d rather experience. Combining the Would you rather – question with your presentation topic is usually very easy, but we also thought of some questions you could use for any topic (e.g. as an icebreaker, to get to know your audience a little better, to ask about their opinion or just as a fun element in between). You can let your audience vote by letting them raise their hands or by using an interactive poll tool such as SlideLizard .

2. Charades

The popular game is not only great for your family’s game-night, but also for your presentations and workshops. Prepare a few cards that have words related to your presentation’s topic on them, let some volunteers in your audience draw and act them out. The rest of the audience has to guess the word. You can be sure that these terms and the associated performances will never be forgotten!

Small Trivia quizzes are perfect for checking and manifesting the audience’s knowledge at the end of your presentation. Instead of repeating and summing up what you have already said, you can let your participants test their knowledge right away. However, you can also use a quiz in the beginning to test your audience’s existing knowledge about a topic. But there are not only trivia quizzes: Questions about personality can also be interesting and work well as an ice breaker in the beginning. 5. Two Truths and a Lie

Here is another game that is just perfect when you play it with interactive poll tools. It is great for getting the audience to know you as a presenter better. Think of a fun, interesting or astonishing fact about yourself, and then invent two fake ones. Your attendees have to vote which statement they think is true. Be prepared to see some very surprised faces in your audience!

6. PowerPoint Karaoke

PowerPoint-Karaoke is the perfect improvisation game. Players are confronted with a set of slides they have never seen before and try to give a presentation as convincingly as possible. 7. Where do you stand?

For the game “Where do you stand?”, your attendees will actually have to stand up. Therefore, it is only convenient if you have enough space. If you want to get your participant’s opinion about something and get them to move a little, look no further! Create an imaginary line across the room. One end stands for one opinion, the other end for the exact opposite opinion. Your attendees can now place themselves on this line wherever they like (right in the middle, on either end or somewhere in between). You can then even interview people on the line (it is always interesting to choose two from opposite sites) and learn about their views. If you’re a little overwhelmed now, here are some examples you could use for this game:

Attention – you can of course ask about political or more controversial topics, but that may escalate and turn into a fight, which is not the purpose of the game or your presentation.

8. Describe That

Let your audience draw from cards with words on them and then describe it for the other attendees. It is basically like charades, but with words instead of acting. Some may find that too easy. In that case, you can either choose terms that are extremely hard to describe or add some “Taboo-words” to the card that can’t be used for describing.

9. True and False

Have you ever heard a crazy, bizarre fact where you didn’t think that it could be true? Perfect. You can use it in the well-known “True and False”-Game. You pick out a fact (ideally something related to your presentation topic) and then let your audience vote (you know – via an interactive poll tool like SlideLizard ) if they think it’s true or not. A tip for making statements false: Change little things about the them, like numbers, dates or names or use common misconceptions and see how many of your attendees buy into them, e.g. “Bulls are enraged by the color red” (which is false, bulls are simply enraged by movement, not specific colors).

10. The never-ending sentence

The never-ending sentence is a great game that incorporates many of your attendees and awakens their brain cells. It is perfect for keeping up their engagement and interest, especially for long presentations or workshops when you feel like some people are getting a little tired. Simply start by saying a word – it can be related to the presentation’s topic if you want – and ask a person in your audience to repeat that word and add another one – the next person to repeat those two words and add another one as well , and so on, until a sentence forms. As it gets longer the game gets a lot more difficult, because there is a lot more to remember and to repeat. The sentence can’t be ended, it has to be continued until someone makes a mistake (or until the last person in the room has added a new word). We promise that you will be left with a lot of fun, creative, and straight-up weird sentences that will make your audience laugh a lot.

The concept is simple. Present a statement based on something from your presentation that’s open to different points of view. Depending on each player’s opinion, they move to a corner of the room labelled ‘strongly agree’, ‘agree’, ‘disagree’ or ‘strongly disagree’ .

Maybe something like this:

An individual is shaped more by nature than nurture.

Once everyone is in their corner, you could have a structured debate between the four sides to bring different opinions to the table.

• Set up the ‘strongly agree’, ‘agree’, ‘disagree’ and ‘strongly disagree’ corners of your room (if running a virtual presentation, then a simple show of hands could work).
• Write some statements which are open to different opinions.
• Read out the statement.
• Each player stands in the right corner of the room, depending on their view.
• Discuss the four different viewpoints.

It works on the same concept as the popular UK game show Pointless . Your players are given a statement and have to name the most obscure answer they can. The least-mentioned correct answer is the winner!

The most popular answers may be India, USA and Brazil , but the points go to the least mentioned correct country.

• Players submit the most obscure answer they can think of.
• The most obscure one appears most diminutive on the board. Whoever submitted that answer is the winner!

This one’s a great game to use in the classroom, but if you’re not looking for presentation games for students, it also works wonders in a casual work setting.

Heart, Gun, Bomb is a game in which teams take turns to answer questions presented in a grid. If they get an answer right, they either get a heart, a gun or a bomb…

• A ❤️ grants the team an extra life.
• A 🔫 takes away one life from any other team.
• A 💣 takes away one heart from the team who got it.

All teams start with five hearts. The team with the most hearts at the end, or the only surviving team, is the winner!

• Before starting, create a grid table for yourself with either a heart, gun or bomb occupying each grid (on a 5×5 grid, this should be 12 hearts, nine guns and four bombs).
• Present another grid table to your players (5×5 for two teams, 6×6 for three groups, etc.)
• Write a figure stat (like 25%) from your presentation into each grid.
• Split players into the desired number of teams.
• Team 1 chooses a grid and says the meaning behind the number ( for example, the number of customers last quarter ).
• If they’re wrong, they lose a heart. If they’re right, they get either a seat, gun or bomb, depending on what the grid corresponds to on your grid table.
• Repeat this with all the teams until there’s a winner!

#9: Match Up – Interactive Presentation Games

Here’s another quiz-type question that can be a great addition to your roster of presentation games.

It involves a set of prompt statements and a set of answers. Each group is jumbled; the players must match the information with the correct answer as quickly as possible.

Again, this one works well when the answers are numbers and figures.

• Create a ‘Match Pairs’ question.
• Fill out the set of prompts and answers, which will automatically shuffle.
• Players match each prompt with its answer as fast as possible to score the most points.

How to Create Interactive PowerPoint Games

One of the easiest ways that you can do to convert your boring slides into an engaging game is by directly creating an interactive quiz games in PowerPoint.

So, how do you create a PowerPoint game?

By turning your slide into a student question! Just add a question button, and your students will be able to answer and participate right from their phone! This not only enhances student engagement but also provides you with real-time insights into their understanding and progress.

Here’s how:

1. Turn slide into a quiz question

Turn any PowerPoint slide into a question! From trivia to written responses, you can get creative with how you want students to practice recall! Just write your question on your slide.

With the PowerPoint add-in ClassPoint, you can choose from eight different types of question formats to send to your students’ devices, such as multiple choices, fill in the blank, short answer, or even media-type of quiz like sending image or video as response to question. All of these can be turned to fun quiz games with a well-ready score system with leaderboard.

How : Write your question as text on your slide. With ClassPoint installed, you will find a ClassPoint tab in the PowerPoint ribbon. Click on it, and select a question type to add to your slide. Reward answers by awarding stars to everyone who submitted ‘A’ for example, everyone who submitted the word “inductor,” or to individual responses, for questions like short answer or slide drawing. You can also use the search bar to look for specific words in the answers or captions and give stars to all who used it!

If they don’t have devices:

If your students don’t have devices or it’s not the day to use them, no worries! You can still create a quiz game in PowerPoint, and use ClassPoint’s stars & leaderboard to gamify it!

How : Create question slides , then decide how you want students to answer: verbally in a game-show style, on individual whiteboards, or on paper, using their fingers for multiple choice, etc. Then give points with ClassPoint’s stars and saved class!

How : Set your students’ goal , and let your students know what their objective is and how they can earn stars! Then set the levels : how many stars they need to earn in each level such as 10 or 20. How to play: Give students your question or tell them to start guessing your vocab word one letter at a time! Similar to the original Jeopardy TV gameshow, you can also set up a Jeopardy game inside PowerPoint!

• Slide: Create a table grid of hidden questions behind tiles/squares. Across the top should be different question categories, and going down should be a varying range of question difficulty. On top of the question tiles/squares, instead of posing the correspondent amount of cash-worth for each question, replace it with the number of stars awarding once respondent give the correct answer. Then write your questions on each corresponding slide. You can add interactive question type in these question slides to engage your students better. Remember that the higher number of stars, trickier the question should be.

How to play: In wheel of fortune, the values of the prize are cash, but for this game, we will make the prizes the number of stars students can earn for each question! To prepare the spinning wheel of names embedded into PowerPoint , you will need to first add the list of awards (stars value) for students as a saved class in PowerPoint. Then, in slideshow mode, you can show this wheel to host the famous Wheel of Fortune gameshow in your class.

Finding the Way – Maze in PowerPoint

Last but not least, I had to include this all-time game that is loved by not just kids but also adults. With a little twist, we can turn the child game version of Maze or “Finding the Way” to an educational version of it.

• Slide: Prepare the maze image and the elements for the connection of finding the way. Note: This game fits best with the type of knowledge or definition that has correlations (e.g. Water and its states)
• Annotation toolset
• Or, Slide Drawing interactive question type

How to play: After setting up the slides, you can allow students to come up and draw on the slides from your device using annotation tools of ClassPoint in slideshow. Alternatively, you can use the interactive activity “Slide Drawing” and allow your students to draw the connection on their own device.

PowerPoint templates are a great way to introduce a new unit or review for a test with your students. It's a break from the regular routine, and students love the teamwork and competitiveness.

I've also used these templates with friends. I can replace the questions and answers with fun topics we're all familiar with and then play in person or online over a video call.

There are lots of websites with free PowerPoint templates that work with Microsoft's software and free presentation programs .

Jeopardy PowerPoint Templates

Most of the hard work is done for you.

Sleek graphics.

Some come with familiar sound effects and theme song.

Some are in the HTML format only.

A few require your email address.

One of the most popular types of PowerPoint games to use in the classroom is Jeopardy. It's a great game to use to review for a test or to introduce new material to students. They can be played as a class, teams, or individually on computers.

Family Feud PowerPoint Templates

Can encourage and be used with teams of students.

Great graphics resembling the TV gameshow.

Go to your account, select a deck, and open it! You'll see a big pink "Launch an event" button on the top right corner. When you click this, it will start a live, full-screen event (just like a powerpoint or google slides presentation). Display this live event page to your group (eg. "share your screen" on Zoom), and have them join in! Then advance through the slides by clicking the next arrow or pressing the arrow keys.

On the first slide of your launched event, you'll see an auto-generated QR code and a URL link. Tell your players to get their smartphone and open their camera. They just need to hold their camera up to the QR code, and they'll be taken to a join page. If they don't have a phone or are having trouble with the QR code, they can use the link displayed on that page, which goes to the same page. On this page, they'll be able to select an avatar, enter their name, and click "Join Event"! You'll see each person appear on your main screen, as they join. 10 interactive presentation games for students

“Welcome to Panel Island, one of my favorite sessions of all time. Not because I get to vote nice people off, but because you get to vote nice people off.” – Mark Fordham, iMeet Central

Four experts. Three rounds. One survivor. That was the wrinkle Mark Fordham, VP of Customer Success at iMeet Central, added to his company’s recurring panel discussions .

Each panelist answers specific questions related to his or her field. Then the audience votes for their favorite responses. The panelist with the fewest votes is voted off the “island.”

Discussions continue until only one panelist remains. Poll Everywhere handles the voting. Between talks, the audience selects their favorite speaker using their mobile devices, and the results appear in an animated chart in real time.

This is just one of many ways presenters and educators use interactive presentation games to keep the audience on its toes. Here are eight more ideas for your next class, workshop, or meeting.

1. Process of elimination

This presentation game for 10 or more players helps the audience get to know each other

This game provides valuable insights into your audience members, while also giving them a chance to stretch their legs.

Here’s how it works: Have everybody in your audience stand up. You’ll then pose prompts one at a time. Attendees’ responses to those prompts will dictate whether they stand or sit.

For example, let’s say that you’re speaking at a large auditorium style classroom. Once your whole class is on their feet, you’d start by saying something like, “Sit down if this is your first time in this building.”

From there, you could keep thinning your students by saying, “Stay standing if you’ve had more than one class in this room,” and so on and so forth until only a few people – or only one person – remain on their feet. At that point, you could offer a prize or a round of applause.

2. Two truths and a lie

Welcome new students, or reintroduce old ones, with this presentation game

This classic icebreaker game works great with a recent Poll Everywhere addition: instruction image . Now you can present a photo alongside that person’s two truths and a lie so everyone knows exactly who they’re voting on.

Here’s how it works: create a new multiple choice activity in Poll Everywhere. Enter the participant’s name as the title, and two truths and a lie as the responses. Select the checkmarks next to the two truths to do a big reveal after voting ends.

After you create this activity, add an instruction image depicting the person you’re talking about. Be sure to check the box next to ‘Show instructions image on bar chart’ so the image is always visible.

You can see in the image above that I changed the bar chart to a column chart. I find this improves readability on the presentation screen since the text isn’t sandwiched between chart and image. Try to make your two truths and lie as short as possible. Shorter responses are always easier to read in the chart.

3. Telephone

See just how jumbled a phrase can get when it’s passed one-by-one around the room

Do you remember the game of telephone that you played as a kid? It’s just as fun as an adult.

Here’s how it works: Telephone starts by whispering a sentence into someone’s ear. Then that person repeats what you said to the person next to them. The chain continues on until the final person states aloud what they heard. It’s often something totally different from the original — with hilarious results.

You can use this in your presentation in an educational way by starting with a question that the audience wants to know (i.e. “How did Company XYZ increase their sales by 45%?”). Then, whisper the answer to the first person. Make sure to speak in a complete sentence — rather than just a few words — to make it tougher for your participants.

Despite the fact that you started the chain by whispering, “Company XYZ used content marketing to engage prospects,” you’re sure to end up with something quite ridiculous by the end.

A little advice: If you want to make this game go faster, you can do this by individual audience rows, instead of involving the whole room. It can also be fun to compare the different end results. Just know that the more people you have involved, the more twisted (and funny) the result becomes.

4. Riddle me this

Wake up the audience with a brain-teaser, then reveal everyone’s responses at once

Riddles are a natural fit for Poll Everywhere word clouds . This activity transforms audience responses into a colorful, animated word cloud. Repeated words grow larger within the cloud.

Here’s how it works: create a new word cloud activity. Make the title a riddle that has a single-word answer (not a sentence or a list). Create the activity, and on the following screen locate the ‘Show results’ button. Click it so that a picture of two phones appears. Wait until everyone has responded to your riddle, then click ‘Show results’ again to reveal the finished word cloud. If the correct answer is the largest word in the cloud, that means most of the audience got it right.

By hiding the results and revealing them after everyone has voted, you prevent participants from submitting whatever seems like the most popular answer. When the results are hidden, there is a small counter in the lower left that shows you how many have responded. That way, you know when voting is finished.

5. 20 questions

Deduce a hidden image or photo by flying through 20 yes-or-no questions with the audience

Who doesn’t love a good game of 20 questions? Fortunately, it’s incredibly easy to play with your presentation audience.

Here’s how it works: display a word or picture (it could be anything from a celebrity to an animal) on the screen behind you — so that you can’t see it but the audience can. You can even ask someone to blindfold you if you don’t want to run the risk of cheating.

Now, your entire audience can see what’s on the screen, and it’s up to you to ask twenty “yes or no” questions that will help you guess exactly what’s being displayed.

Invite audience members to just yell out their answers to your questions simultaneously to create a lively game that’s sure to give your audience’s enthusiasm a boost. Double down on this by setting a 60-second timer for the questions. When time runs out, it’s time to guess.

6. Would you rather?

Learn how the audience thinks with a tricky “Would you rather?” scenario that divides the group

This presentation game is more of a conversation-starter than a traditional game. There should never be a right or wrong answer in a “Would you rather?” scenario. The winner is whoever best justifies their choice and why it’s the best one for them.

Here’s how it works: create a new multiple choice activity. Begin the title with “Would you rather…” and enter the two responses as the two scenarios. After you create this activity, locate the ‘ Visual settings ‘ button. Select it, then locate ‘ Donut chart ‘ and select that too. Doing so changes the look of your activity from a bar chart to a donut chart. Donuts are a great way to clearly visualize the audience’s preference between two choices.

To take this game a step further, start a discussion after the voting ends. Ask everyone who voted for one option to raise their hands. Then, go around the room and ask people to explain in a few words why they selected one option over the other. Save and email a copy of the donut chart afterwards as a memento.

7. Anagrams

Challenge the audience to come up with a unique solution to your anagram that on one else will guess

The crux of this presentation game is solving an anagram: a jumble of letters that can be rearranged into many different words. This is a fun mental exercise for the audience, doubly so if you’re breaking up multiple, back-to-back presentations.

Here’s how it works: create a Poll Everywhere word cloud . Select an anagram that’s at least five or six characters long, such as the one above, so that the audience has plenty of possibilities. If you want to give this a competitive edge, challenge the audience to submit words no one else will think of. These words appear as the smallest words in the cloud. If you do this, be sure to hide responses while everyone responds. Otherwise participants will copy each other’s responses.

For added fun, set the number of submissions to unlimited. Doing so rewards players for coming up with multiple unique words (thereby increasing their chances of winning) or by strategically submitting the same word multiple times to inflate its size in the cloud. 8. Trivia competition

Quiz the audience with multiple choice questions. A leaderboard updates live with the scores.

Nothing hooks the audience’s attention faster than putting their pride on the line. Do this with a friendly trivia competition. Trivia questions are fun. But graded trivia questions are a contest. Poll Everywhere has the perfect activity for this scenario.

Here’s how it works: create a Poll Everywhere competition . This activity is a fully customizable trivia contest. You create the questions. The audience plays for points, and a leaderboard shows everyone who is in the lead. The audience earns points for responding correctly. They also earn bonus points for responding quickly. Expect to hear gasps and cheers each time the leaderboard reveals the new point totals.

Competitions is a great interactive presentation game for energizing the audience. People can compete individually or group into teams and respond from a single phone or device. A timer adds some extra pressure and keeps the competition moving. Don’t want the added stress? Switch off the timer. Either way, when you reach the end the winner gets a fun confetti surprise.

9. Choose your own adventure

Let the audience vote to control the flow of your presentation

One of the best ways to reinforce new information is to give people the opportunity to use that information in some way. Poll Everywhere multiple choice activities are a simple, customizable way to create that opportunity for almost any topic.

Here’s how it works: Say you just finished presenting a lengthy seminar on how to sell vacuums door-to-door. Everyone in the audience has scribbled pages of notes on what to say to whom and when. But none of them has actually sold a vacuum, yet.

Create a choose-your-own-adventure style conversation using a series of multiple choice activities. Each activity is a different line from your fictional vacuum purchaser, and the audience votes on different replies. Whichever reply gets the most votes is the one that advances the conversation, for better or worse.

This style of questioning has plenty of applications besides vacuum salesmanship, but the core function should be constant: Giving the audience a simply way to reflect upon, and apply, what they just learned.

10. Fill in the blanks

A simple worksheet does double duty during presentations

Here’s how it works: Create a worksheet and print out several copies before your presentation. Each question on the worksheet should be an important line from your presentation – but there’s a word or phrase missing. Ask the audience to fill in those gaps as they listen.

This accomplishes two very important things for the audience. First, the questions on the worksheet make it obvious what the key points or takeaways are from your presentation. They know what to focus on and pay special attention to. Second, the completed worksheet doubles as a resource that summarizes what you just presented. Attendees can refer back to it later if they forget something.

You can gamify this exercise ever-so-slightly by entering everyone who completed the worksheet before the end of your presentation into a raffle. It’s up to you whether or not you announce this beforehand, or have it be a surprise at the end.

Summer Game Fest 2024 and games conference schedule: All conference dates, times and streams

Which games conferences are occurring in June 2024?

Summer Game Fest 2024 is now the major gaming presentation of June after the announcement of E3's death last year.

It's not the only gaming showcase running this June though. Nintendo, Ubisoft and Xbox all have presentations planned for the weeks following Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest . You'll also be able to get a look at upcoming indie titles thanks to the Access-Ability Summer Showcase and Wholesome Direct among others, and that's before we get to the other staples of the gaming conference season such as IGN Live and the PC Gaming Show.

Below you'll find a complete Summer Game Fest 2024 conference schedule as we know it so far, running in chronological order and including all of the shows which have been announced at time of writing. We'll also be regularly updating it with confirmed dates, times and additional events if they're announced.

If you've followed our summer conference guides over the past years, then you'll know that, alongside the date and time details, we like to include a little bit of background reading to give you an idea of what to expect ahead of time. With E3 confined to the eternal crypts , the Summer Game Fest Opening Showcase is now the main gaming presentation for, well, the summer. (Well done Geoff... You won...) Alongside it, there's a host of other presentations, such as an Xbox Games Showcase and Wholesome Direct, running throughout June. All of which will give you a good idea of what games are on the horizon!

At the time of writing, it's important to note we're still waiting on date and time confirmations for a number of showcases. This includes the upcoming June Nintendo Direct. We have included these presentations on the schedule below to ensure you have a good idea of what's coming and we'll update this page once these dates are announced.

Announced just one day before its broadcast , the summer 2024 PlayStation State of play will last at least half an hour, and cover "PS5 and PS VR2 titles, plus a look at PlayStation Studios games arriving later this year". A total of 14 titles will be shown off during the stream that will be broadcast on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok.

Let the Sony speculation commence! We wouldn't be surprised if God of War: Ragnarök's PC port was dated, seeing as leaker billbil_kun on X recently hinted it "will be announced very soon". Billbil-kun also recently claimed a new Astro bot game was set to be revealed soon.

Marvelous will be broadcasting their own 30-minute showcase about their upcoming PC, mobile and arcade games. You can watch it on YouTube , with EN, DE, FR, and ES subs. While the publisher did not specify any particular games it would be announcing or providing updates on, there's speculation that we might get a look at a new Daemon x Machina game, and the latest entry in their Rune Factory series.

If you're excited about the upcoming Silent Hill games, then you'll want to tune into Konami's dedicated Silent Hill Transmission broadcast on YouTube this Thursday. While we were perhaps expecting news about the Silent Hill 2 Remake to appear in, say, Sony's currently unannounced State of Play showcase, it looks like Konami are getting their foot in the door early with their own stream.

It won't just be Silent Hill 2 news that will be in the Transmission either, as it also promises a look at the upcoming film, merch and updates on the other announced Silent Hill games too.

The Guerrilla Collective Online Showcase can be watched on both YouTube and Twitch .

This showcase promises to bring a selection of new game reveals, trailers, interesting announcements and reveals, including taking a look at the gameplay for upcoming titles. While we don't know what games will be shown in the presentation at the time of writing, The MIX, who are in partnership with Guerrilla Collective, website lists titles like Until Then, Squirrel with a Gun and Undead West. Many of these titles were also shown during the Spring Games Showcase back in March 2024, so hopefully this is our chance to learn more about them.

IGN Live - Friday 7th June until Sunday 9th June

IGN are holding a three-day live event in LA to coincide with Summer Game Fest this year. The in-person fan event will unveil a wide array of pop culture news across games, film, TV and more, including a sitdown with Xbox boss Phil Spencer, the head of Team Sonic, and former Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor director Stig Asmussen. There will also be over 100 playable games and demos at the event, and you can check out the full schedule on their website.

The Access-Ability Summer Showcase 2024 spotlights games, both recently released and upcoming, created by disabled developers. It will also take a look at accessibility settings and design choices crafted to help more disabled players enjoy games. Eurogamer found last year's Access-Ability to be a vital addition to the Summer Game Fest season , so it's definitely worth tuning in.

This showcase will be available on Twitch and YouTube , with American Sign Language, British Sign Language and Audio Described versions premiering at the same time.

Hosted by Laura Kate Dale, accessibility consultant and host of the weekly Access-Ability show on YouTube , the show will include exclusive trailers, release date and discussion about new gameplay features. It's already been confirmed that titles from Whitethorn Games, PlayTonic and Fiction Factory Games will be making an appearance, but there's sure to be other surprises! This includes a selection of special guests, with Arevya and SightlessKombat already confirmed.

The show will, once again, be two hours long. (Snacks are a must.) During this time, there will be a selection of world premieres and special guests who'll hopefully be able to say their piece without being drowned out by music.

There will be more than 55 partners appearing in this year's Summer Game Fest and, similar to 2023, Geoff Keighley recently posted the first list of partners on his X account . This list includes Annapurna Interactive, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Devolver Digital, PlayStation, Sega, Ubisoft and Xbox among many others. There are more partners waiting to be announced, so this list is certain to grow.

Just like 2023, the Day of The Devs 2024: Summer Game Fest Edition will immediately follow the Summer Game Fest 2024 Opening Showcase. It will be broadcasted over the same YouTube and Twitch channels, so there's no need to cross streams!

It's important to note that the start times listed above are based upon the estimated end-time of the Summer Game Fest 2024 Opening Showcase. Since that showcase is roughly two hours long, you can expect Day of the Devs to begin two hours after Summer Game Fest 2024. Technically difficulties do happen though, so there's always a chance it might start a little later.

The Day of The Devs showcases focus on indie titles and is run by a now fully independent non-profit organisation going under the same name. We don't know which games will be showcased at the time of writing, but we do know there will be some very interesting titles. If you'd like an idea of what kind of titles might make an appearance, take a look at our roundup for the Day of the Devs The Game Awards showcase . The official Day of the Devs website also lists all the games they showcase at various events , such as GDC. This year's GDC includes Simpler Times, Cataclismo and Hyper Light Breaker among others.

This year's Devolver Direct is also the 15th birthday party for Volvy - everyone's favourite mascot known for his big hand. For gaming. The 20 minute long party is sure to bring Devolver's traditional brand of fun as we all give Volvy a massive cheer, alongside game reveals, release dates and updates.

You'll be able to join Volvy's party on YouTube and Twitch .

While we don't know which games Volvy will be showing off yet, Devolver Digital has said they're 'exciting' . Hopefully we'll get another look at The Plucky Squire (release date wouldn't go amiss), Neva and The Crush House among other titles.

The Future of Play Direct has returned for another year. You'll be able to watch it on YouTube and Twitch. It will also be broadcasted across IGN and GameSpot. If you miss the show, however, you'll be able to catch up on the GLITCH YouTube channel .

V-tuber Melios the Andriod will be hosting the show, which promises to bring an array of launch annoucements from developers like Trinket Studios, Texel Raptor, Mighty Yell and Studio Pixel Punk. There also be new trailers, premiers and confirmed updates for Dungeon Clawler, Timberborn, Psychroma, Zodiac XXL and Airborne Empire. There should also be some interesting surprises as both witchcraft and anime girls have been mentioned...

The Wholesome Direct makes a return on Saturday 8th June. It will broadcasted on YouTube and Twitch .

The Wholesome Direct shines a light on games with intricate storytelling, beautiful art design and unique gameplay. Last year's Wholesome Direct took a look at Venba, Kamaeru and Toasterball among many others. According to the official Wholesome Games X account, nearly 800 games were submitted for this year's showcase so there's certainly going to be some hidden gems on display!

The Latin American Games Showcase spotlights games developed in the LATAM Region and by Latin Americans around the globe. You can watch it on YouTube and Twitch .

The showcase will take a look at over 70 games, including a selection of world premiers and exclusive announcements. The previous showcase back in October 2023 included Mariachi Legends, Bem Feito and A Tiny Sticker Tale among others.

With the timing for the Future Games Show Summer Showcase now announced, you'll be able to watch the show across a variety of platforms, including YouTube , Twitch , TikTok , Facebook and X .

Thanks to PCGamer , we know that this year's showcase will take a look at over 40 upcoming games across both PC and consoles.

The Xbox Games Showcase returns for Summer Games Fest once again and, like last year, it's divided into two halves. It will be broadcasted on YouTube and Twitch , with an American Sign Language version on the Xbox ASL Twitch channel .

Thanks to Xbox Wire , we know the first part of the showcase will focus on games from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, Xbox Game Studios and third-party partners. When it comes to exactly which games will be shown, there's a chance we'll see Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the Shattered Space expansion for Starfield and a look at Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. (Whether the Fable reboot will make an appearance is yet to be seen.) According to The Verge's Tom Warren , who cites 'sources familiar with [Microsoft's] plan', we will also get a look at the next instalment in the Gears of War series, which Gears studio, The Coalition, have been working on .

On Thursday 23rd May, Xbox Wire also confirmed that the second part of the showcase, formally titled [REDACTED], was all about Black Ops 6 in an update to the showcase's annoucement. This didn't surprise many though as Black Ops 6 had already been speculated to be the spotlighted game. Make sure to tune in if you're a Black Ops fan!

As the name suggests, this showcase is all about PC gaming! According to PC Gamer , and it's their show so they'll know, over 50 games will be showcased during this year's show. This will include a mixture of developer interviews, world premieres and exclusive announcements. Considering last year's show saw the reveal of Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector , we should be in for a good surprise.

Ubisoft has confirmed both the time and date of its Ubisoft Forward presentation, and you'll be able to watch this 30-minute showcase on YouTube and Twitch .

The publisher has also confirmed which games it'll be showing, too, including Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin's Creed Shadows , and more news on the recently released XDefiant. (And maybe if we wish really, really, really hard we might even get to see something from Beyond Good and Evil 2.)

Thanks to an announcement from Shuntaro Furukawa, Nintendo president, posted on the official Nintendo Corporate X account, we know there will be a Nintendo Direct sometime in June. At the time of writing, the exact date and time for this Direct are yet to be revealed, but we'll update this page once they are.

As usual, you'll be able to watch this Nintendo Direct on YouTube and Twitch .

It's important to note that while Furukawa's statement included a mention of the Switch 2 , it will not be discussed during June's Direct. Though it is nice to know that the Switch's successor isn't just a product of our collective imagination with this post being the first time Nintendo has officially discussed it . (Let's be honest, dropping the news this way is a very Nintendo move.) Earlier this year, Eurogamer sources did confirm that the Switch 2 is on track for a 2025 launch so hopefully we'll finally get a look at the console before this year is out.

Summer Game Fest 2024 returns to take up the mantle of E3, now that the annual expo is gone for good after a run of almost two decades.

The good news, however, is gaming’s biggest conference season isn’t going anywhere. Though the Summer Game Fest showcase is headlining, the likes of Xbox, Ubisoft, and Devolver are all returning to offer a week-long burst of news and announcements.

In this guide, we’ll run down the Summer Game Fest 2024 conference schedule , with dates and times across time zones in North America and Europe, and what to expect from each one.

Summer Game Fest 2024 schedule and all conference times

Here is when every conference will go live over the “E3” conference period. The bulk of the shows will take place around the second weekend of June, headlined by Summer Game Fest on Friday, June 7, and continuing until Monday with the likes of Ubisoft.

By the time Summer Game Fest starts, Sony’s annual summer State of Play will have happened (on Thursday, May 30). We are still waiting for Nintendo to set a date for its June direct ( as confirmed on a post on X ). Based on previous years, they should fall within the same week as the below – unless it wants to take the spotlight later in the month.

Thursday, june 6 conferences.

Though Friday is technically the start of Summer Game Fest, props to Guerrilla Collective (10 a.m. PDT / 1 p.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube / Twitch ) for stealing a march on Geoff Keighley with an indie-focused showcase that’s now in its fifth year. Expect “big new game announcements, reveals, trailer premieres, fresh gameplay,” with the likes of Slime Heroes from Whitehorn Games, Neon Blood from ChaoticBrain Studios, and Deathbound from Trialforge Studio confirmed to be showing up.

Friday, June 7 conferences

Friday is technically the start of Summer Game Fest, with the Access-Ability Summer Showcase (8 a.m. PDT / 11 a.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube / Twitch ) beginning proceedings to highlight games by game developers with disabilities, and games with features and settings designed with players with disabilities in mind.

Whitethorn Games (publisher of Botany Manor ), Playtonic ( Yooka-Laylee creator and publisher of upcoming rogue-like Elsie ), and Fiction Factory Games ( Arcade Spirits ) are all confirmed to be in the mix so far, with showrunner Laura Kate Dale explaining that “our aim is to make sure that if a game looks exciting, you don’t have to worry about getting hyped, only to learn later that a game doesn’t support your needs as a player.”

Following that a few hours later is the big one: the Summer Game Fest showcase (2 p.m. PDT / 5 p.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube / Twitch ). There are 55 partners signed up; how many of these will actually appear in the conference is uncertain, but since previous iterations of this event have run for at least a couple of hours, expect a fair few to show up. While specific reveals are under wraps at the time of this writing, we know 2K will at least “reveal the next iteration” in one of its franchises during the show. Any guesses?

As tradition, the Summer Game Fest stream will immediately run into Double Fine and 8bit’s Day of the Devs (exact time TBC, streaming through the same feed as Summer Game Fest). Karma: The Dark World , Phoenix Spring , and Derek Yu’s UFO 50 will make an appearance, among various new reveals.

Finally, Friday ends with Devolver Direct (5 p.m. PDT / 8 p.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube / Twitch ). Once famously hosted in a parking lot across the street from E3 (to physically emphasize the contrast between events), the oddball developer eschewed that stunt last year — and there’s no word yet on if it’ll revive this year. With E3 dead, though, it’s unlikely. Anyway, expect lots of offbeat indies at this showcase.

Saturday, June 8 conferences

The Saturday of not-E3 2024 is packed with back-to-back shows. Let’s break it down:

• First up is the Future of Play Direct (8 a.m. PDT / 11 p.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube ). Hosted by the V-tuber A.I. broadcaster Melios, no games have been announced yet. But if you miss the showcase, Glitch, the organizer of the event, said a setlist will be available via its social media channels after the event wraps.
• That’s immediately followed by Wholesome Direct (9 a.m. PDT / 12 p.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube / Twitch ), a showcase focused on cozy games. For an example of what to expect, in previous years, Wholesome Direct has featured the likes of Moonglow Bay , Bear and Breakfast , and Pupperazzi .
• The Latin America Games Showcase (10 a.m. PDT / 1 p.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube / Twitch ) comes right on the heels of Wholesome Direct, and puts a spotlight on games developed in Latin America. More than 45 games are planned to appear at the event; you can see the whole list here .
• Shortly after that comes Women-led Games Summer Games Fest (11:30 a.m. PDT / 2.30 p.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube / Twitch ). With a focus on games developed studios that are either led by or are majority staffed by women, Women-Led Games hosts a number of showcases per year. You can see the one from March 2024 here .
• Finally, the day wraps with the Future Games Show (12 p.m. PDT / 3 p.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube / Twitch ). Unaffiliated with the earlier Future of Play event, the Future Games Show is GamesRadar’s annual not-E3 event. This year, it’s hosted by Red Dead Redemption 2 ’s Arthur Clark and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth ’s Britt Baron.

Sunday, June 9 conferences

Headlining Sunday is the Xbox Games Showcase (9 a.m. PDT / 12 p.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube / Twitch ). This is Microsoft’s first showcase since its nearly $70 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard was finalized. Since then, Microsoft has closed studios and laid off nearly 2,000 employees across its gaming department. This, of course, is the giant elephant in the room. While the matter likely won’t be addressed during the show, it will no doubt overshadow rumored announcements of things like a new entry in the Doom series or a potential reveal of an all-digital Xbox Series X .

Following the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft will host the Black Ops 6 Direct (exact time TBC, streaming through the same feed as Xbox). Immediately after its 2023 showcase, Microsoft held a 45-minute, in-depth stream for Bethesda’s Starfield ; it’s safe to assume the Black Ops 6 Direct will be along the same lines. As with all of Microsoft’s first-party games to date, Black Ops 6 will launch “day one” on Game Pass .

The Xbox-centric series of events is followed by the PC Gaming Show (1 p.m. PDT / 4 p.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube / Twitch ). Hosted by PC Gamer , the show will feature 50 games plus interviews with developers, though the publication hasn’t yet announced who will be partaking.

Monday, June 10 conferences

As of this writing, not-E3 wraps up with Ubisoft Forward (pre-show at 11:30 a.m. PDT / 2:30 p.m. EDT, with main show at 12 p.m. PDT / 3 p.m. EDT, streaming on YouTube / Twitch ). The purveyor of icon-saturated map games already has a heavy slate in the fall, with the likes of Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows .

Both tent poles will be part of the show, Ubisoft said in a press release. Also expect details about XDefiant , Ubisoft’s recently launched multiplayer shooter, and “more” games. Less likely? An update on Beyond Good & Evil 2 , which has been infamously (and very publicly) mired in development hell for years. But hey, anything can happen!

INSTANT RECAP: Notre Dame lacrosse captures second straight NCAA championship

The No. 1-ranked Notre Dame lacrosse repeated as NCAA champions as it dominated seventh-seeded Maryland Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Notre Dame (16-1) pulled away from fifth-seeded Denver in a 13-6 win in Saturday’s first semifinal. The Terrapins (11-6) knocked off sixth-seeded Virginia 12-6 in Saturday’s second game. Start time on Memorial Day was moved up from 1 p.m. to noon to avoid weather, but was ultimately pushed back to a start time of 2:10 p.m..

After national runner-up finishes in 2010 and 2014, head coach Kevin Corrigan and the Irish finally broke through by winning the 2023 NCAA championship for the first time in program history. The Irish are the first team to win NCAA titles in consecutive seasons since Duke in 2013 and 2014. Virginia won back-to-back in 2019 and 2021 as the 2020 season was cancelled because of COVID.

The start of the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse National Championship between top-seeded Notre Dame and seventh-seeded Maryland has been delayed to inclement weather. 

Moments after the National Anthem concluded around noon on Memorial Day, the NCAA announced the start time — which already had been pushed up from 1 p.m. — would be delayed. 

As a downpour hovered over South Philadelphia, the Fighting Irish and Terrapins evacuated the sidelines and retreated to their respective locker rooms at Lincoln Financial Field. 

Fans in attendance also were encouraged to seek shelter as the NCAA issued the following statement:

“A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued by the national weather service for our area. These storms may produce sever conditions, including lightning and strong winds.

“For your safety, we encourage you to exit the open seating area at this time and seek shelter along the concourses.”

The NCAA later announced the two teams would return to the field at 12:50 p.m. –– with a new anticipated start time of 1 p.m. That was then pushed back again to a 2 p.m. return to field for the two teams.

Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid LIVE!

Real Madrid were crowned kings of Europe for a record-extending 15th time with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final at Wembley on Saturday.

Huge favourites going in to the game, the Spanish side were outplayed for long periods but broke Dortmund's resistance with late goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr.

Veteran right-back Carvajal glanced in a header from a Toni Kroos corner in the 74th minute and from that moment Carlo Ancelotti's side sparked into life. Vinicius slid home Real's second in the 83rd minute to silence the yellow-clad Dortmund fans who had created a wall of noise throughout the Champions League final.

It was hard on the German side who missed several good first-half chances, the best of which saw Niclas Fuellkrug hit the post from close range.

Real Madrid were crowned kings of Europe for the 15th time after a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.

Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr struck in the second half to punish the Germans for failing to make the most of their chances in what was a more enthralling contest than had been billed.

Thibaut Courtois 8

Kept Real Madrid in the game with a string of big saves. Showed why he got the nod over Andriy Lunin, even after his performances earlier on. Another monster display from Courtois, who was man of the match in the 2022 final.

Toni Kroos 8

His final game at club level and he bowed out in style. So composed on the ball and setup the winner with a great corner. Oozed class all night.

Vinicius Jr 8

Electric when on the ball - even in the tightest of spaces. Got better as the game went on and scored Madrid’s second with a well-taken finish.

Gregor Kobel 8

Took a clattering from Vinicius Jr in the first half but was able to continue. Some super saves in the second half, but they weren’t enough.

Nico Schlotterbeck 7

One excellent clearance with Bellingham poised to slot home the opener. Passed well, and almost always forwards. Booked for protesting.

Jadon Sancho 6

For long spells he was out of the game, like Bellingham for Real, but on occasion he found the ball at his feet and showed his ability by driving forward.

Underestimated Borussia Dortmund prove worthy of Champions League final occasion

Shattered dreams at Wembley again for Mats Hummels, Marco Reus and Borussia Dortmund, though that should not be the prevailing feeling. Even reaching this Champions League final was a victory for the Black and Yellow.

Like in 2013, when German rivals Bayern Munich prevailed here, the final proved one step too far.

Losing to Real Madrid in a European final would be no great disgrace for anyone; they’ve not been defeated in once since 1983. For Edin Terzic’s unheralded and clearly underestimated side, there was no hint of humiliation here.
