A lot of grownups come here to do birdwatching and catch the sunrise. My day would be so dull if parks didn’t exist. The park I visit adds colours, fun, and meaning and gives me something to look forward to in the evenings. I made a few new friends, and we used the see-saws together. No vehicles are allowed in the park; the best part is that it is always so clean. The cotton candy seller is nice and gives me great discounts whenever I visit. I regularly visit the park nearby and bring plenty of snacks from home to share with my friends. Sometimes, I go for an after-meal walk with my parents. It is so satisfying and calming. Playing in the park is so much fun!

We love watching the sunrise, and the red glow is magical.

We once had a picnic at the park last summer. It was great, and I enjoyed the food while exploring all the different paths. I think parks set an example for society and teach us how to look after the earth. Life would be dull if parks didn’t exist. After studying for hours at home, all I want to do is play at the park. I see many vendors come here and sell snacks, and my parents sometimes give me pocket money to enjoy them. My favourite snacks at the park are popcorn, cotton candy, and gummy bears. I love using the hanging bars at the park and hanging on for as long as I can! It’s a great exercise and it helps me stretch. Short Essay on A Visit to a Park in 100 Words

All of us need some sort of entertainment in our lives. We tend to visit several places to spend some quality time with our parents and family. Visiting a park is one of the most fantastic attractions in all of them. I recently saw a water park in Kolkata to boost myself up after long-drawn pandemic jeopardy. Visiting there with my friends was an additional reward.

We enjoyed each other’s company, laughed, played, and hyped the energy. It was such a bliss to be out in the open sun. Everywhere there was mirth and playfulness. I felt how even a small excuse of visiting a park can bring together so many people. The visit appeared to be more like an unbridled and happy social meeting.

Short Essay on a Visit to a Park in 200 Words

Entertainment is a mode to unleash all our suppressed passions and desires and enjoy a short moment of life with fun and happiness. For that visiting parks, places of heritage, zoos, museums, or having a simple picnic can be those several ways to enjoy our vacations and pass times. For me visiting a water park is great bliss.

Recently I and my friends went to a nearby water park in Kolkata that is well known for its water slides, fun, games, and also the ambience of happiness. We readily agreed to visit the park and make the day memorable. Reaching there we bought ourselves tickets and took some costumes to enjoy the water slides. We felt both excited and terrified viewing the giant rollercoaster and the ups and downs of the ride. Yet gathering all our courage we went on.

We got into it consecutively and as soon as the ride started we felt the greatest enjoyment of our lives. Each and every ride was wonderful, especially the water slip and the pool rides. In fact, the park also accommodated some really cool cocktail outlets and a platform to enjoy the music going on. The entire environment was one of mirth. After losing time in the pandemic, the water park visit became a fruitful experience get-together, as many friends came together who would have otherwise been disconnected for a while.

Short Essay on a Visit to a Park in 400 Words

Taking any journey with people we love is always a rewarding experience. Whenever we find ourselves in a pensive mood, we feel desperate to attend a place of fun and excitement. Visiting a park, be it any local ground or an exclusive park with sophisticated rides and slips, strolling at parks is always a great exercise for the mind and body. It releases all our clogged emotions and makes the mind as free and wide as a huge green field. Visiting parks has often been a medicative remedy.

Many old people along with kids practice visiting to park in the morning and dusk. It enables them to maintain a healthy body and mind and feel carefree. Similarly for me visiting a park has also a great purpose. Recently I went to a famous water park in Kolkata, that is quite renowned for its water rides.

The park also has a separate underground base station for dance and music, where young people can spend their quality time. The entire park is well decorated with cartoons and animals, which in turn become viable for little kids. The park’s beauty attracts lots of visitors every summer. Also, the cocktail outlets lying adjacent to the water park add up to its beauty.

Recently, I got a wonderful opportunity to get together with my high school friends and spent a great time with them in that water park, I hardly could have denied such an option and readily agreed. It was also a moment of nostalgia since these friends live far away without that old bonding. We arrived as one of our friends has already got our tickets. We opted for the rollercoaster ride, although it rose great fear and excitement in us. It was as majestic as it was fearful.

Once into it, we realized how beautiful the company was. We were thrilled with joy and enjoyed all the water rides with extreme fun. The summer heat no longer felt tormenting us as the mirth filled the air. After completing the rides we changed our dresses and quickly visited the dance p[platform. We enjoyed each other’s company and forgot the passage of time. Happiness, like bubbles, brewed up till we returned back and parted our ways.

Visiting a water park that day was not any show of our sophisticated taste. But it was god’s grace that all our long-lost friends got reunited. Those lost memories were once again relived and cherished as if it was anew. I still can feel the happiness of that day and will never forget this wonderful memory.

Essay on 'My visit to a Park' For Class 4

park essay class 4

Park is a place where we can enjoy and have a good time with our family and friends. I visited a park with my family in the month of spring. It was a very pleasant day and I had lots of fun by playing near the seesaw.

While we were entering the park we were given pamphlets which contained information as to why this park was built and it was written that "This park is built in the memory of Mary who loved parks and greenery". Mary was the president's daughter. Then, later on, my best friend also joined me in the park and we played together many fun games and had a jovial time. My mum prepared delicious sandwiches, salads and fruit juices.

In the middle of the park, my friend Amy and I saw an arch which was decorated with carnations and creepers, it was looking extraordinary and we started taking pictures by standing near the arch. There was a beautiful pond nearby with ducks and frogs, it was a really beautiful scenery. The greenery in the park was very soothing to the eyes. We bought ice creams and popcorn to munch on. There was another large pond where we did boat riding, Amy and I were very excited to ride the boat. My family members also did boat riding which they enjoyed a lot. There were many beautiful flowers and plants in the park like roses, lilies, sunflowers, lotus, marigold, ferns etc.

We also saw deer and kangaroos. Next, we saw many varieties of birds like cranes, ducks, pigeons, parrots, kingfishers, owls, etc. We also saw our national bird peacock in the zoo. Last Sunday, I visited a zoo with my family. First, we went round the bird’s section. We saw parrots, sparrows, pigeons, peacocks, eagles, and vultures. Then we saw the cages of wild animals like tigers, lions, and leopards. A lion was walking up and down restlessly. It often roared furiously. The baby tigers were playing in their cage.

We saw the deer park, where only the deer were kept. We also saw zebras, bears, foxes, giraffes, a hippo, and a rhino. Then we went to the huge enclosure where the elephants were kept. They were eating grasses, leaves, and bananas. We enjoyed watching the monkeys.

We saw serpents, pythons, and cobras. Next, we saw many swans and ducks swimming gracefully in a big pool of water. The crocodiles lay Lazily near the water. We also saw a tank which contained small fishes of fine colours. We had a great fun at the zoo.

A Visit to Zoo Essay: 200 Words

A zoo is a place where animals and birds are kept for public display. We, the three friends, went to the Alipore Zoo, Kolkata. We saw two elephants, tied with iron chains by their hind legs. The visitors offered them bananas or nuts which they gladly accepted and swallowed. We were greatly amused to see the huge animals from so near.

Then we visited the bird’s section. There were hundreds of birds. They were of various colours and had lovely plumage (feathers). Their chirping produced soft music. The twittering of sparrows was very pleasant to the ear. At some distance, there was a big pool of water. Many ducks and swans were swimming gracefully in it. We also saw a tank which contained small fishes of fine colours.

Then we came to the cages of tigers, panthers, leopards and lions. They were wonderful. The serpent house gave us a new experience. We saw there various types of snakes on the first floor. Then we saw the bisons, the camels, the ostriches and the bats. The zebras and giraffes were really beautiful who looked innocent and friendly.

It was about 2 P.M when we had taken some light refreshment in the zoo canteen. In this way, we passed the day with much delight and acquired a wonderful experience.

A Visit to a Zoo Essay: 250 Words

A Visit To A Zoo is very thrilling. I went to see the zoo with my younger brother. One is surprised to see such a variety of animals and birds. It was an interesting sight. First of all, we saw the monkeys. They were of many kinds and very amusing. We offered some nuts to them.

Then we came to the lions. They looked very fierce and majestic. They were kept in an open place enclosed with high iron railings. Sometimes they roared terribly. Next, we saw the tigers. They had yellow skins with black stripes on them. In the next two cages, there were a wolf and a fox. The wolf was sleeping, but the fox was walking within the cage.

Then we saw the long-necked giraffe, the dark-striped zebra, the thick-skinned rhinoceros, and a huge elephant with beautiful ivory tusks. We were very pleased to see them. After this, we came to the glass houses where reptiles were kept. There were snakes, cobras, and serpents. Some of them looked fearful. We did not stay there long.

Then we came to the fences where peacocks were kept. It was a treat to see one of them in his pride (i.e. with his tail spread like a fan).

We stayed three for three hours. We were tired. At last, we went to the cafe and had some refreshment and tea. Then we returned home. We enjoyed our visit very much.

Essay on a Visit to a Zoo: 500 Words

Introduction:.

Everyone needs relaxation and an occasional deviation from the drudgeries of daily existence. A visit to a zoo can offer him these. At the same time, it is a learning experience. It was with this intention that visited the Alipore Zoological Garden last 25th December with some of my friends. This visit was memorable because it was both enjoyable and educational.

Entering the Zoo:

We reached the gate of the zoo in a taxi around 10 am. One has to buy tickets to enter the zoo. A number of visitors were already standing in a queue before the ticket counter. We stood behind them, got our tickets and entered the big arena of the zoo.

Various Types of Birds and Animals:

We crossed the green sward and were greeted by varieties of monkeys in cages. Monkeys and baboons were jumping on the trees within their enclosures. When some people threw food at them, they immediately jumped down from the trees to eat. Some children were making faces at them.

Then, we came across a beautiful lake in which some water birds like ducks and swans were present. There were some migratory birds as well. As we moved, we came to the big netted enclosure in which birds were kept. There were sparrows, parrots, and many other birds. Most of them were twittering, chirping and whistling. But the owls were sitting with their eyes closed as if they were lost in deep thought. The chirping of the birds went on ringing deep in my heart. In their songs, I heard the voice of nature to which the whole universe surrendered. I felt that all was right with the world.

We visited the tigers, lions, zebras, giraffes, rhinos and elephants. Roars of the lions and the tigers were deafening. We found a tiger pacing restlessly with its bloodshot eyes. It was strongly built.

Then we came across a garden in which stags and deer were frisking about. These animals were very agile and beautiful.

Our next halt was at the aquarium section. There were fishes of many species and colours. To see them swimming to and fro in the water was really a rewarding experience. Just beside this enclosure, was the cage of a black bear. It attracted a mammoth gathering. The bear was playing many tricks that thrilled us. Some people offered it eatables which it gulped at once.

Leaving the Zoo:

At about 2 pm, feeling tired, we rested and relaxed on the grassy ground for half an hour. The fragrance of flowers coming from somewhere was really soothing. We again began to stroll around the zoo after having our lunch. We saw a variety of amphibians like crocodiles, snakes, frogs, and a variety of other creatures. Then we hired a boat and enjoyed a short pleasurable ride in the canal. It was around 5 pm when we came out of the zoo. We boarded a bus, casting our last and lingering look on the zoo.

Conclusion:

I reached home in a cheerful mood. This visit refreshed my mind and deepened my awareness of the animal world.

Essay on trees for class 4, introduction.

Trees are considered essential to human beings' existence as they provide us with life's basic amenities, which are the oxygen we breathe and the food we consume. Trees play a very significant role in maintaining sustainability in the environment. They cleanse the air we breathe and provide us with several other advantages. Trees are basic for human existence. Deforestation should be prevented and stood against at all costs, as it involves cutting down and removing trees from forests and everywhere they are planted. Humans tend to rely on trees for food and soil. Let us learn about the benefits of planting trees!

Why do we need trees?

Supply of oxygen.

Trees help purify carbon dioxide and create oxygen, which is basic for human survival. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and is responsible for increasing pollution. When greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and other similar gases are released into thin air, they form a layer in the atmosphere and increase the temperature. This is the primary reason behind global warming.

Preserving the ecosystem

Trees help in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. All living organisms can easily inhabit the ecosystem because trees provide diversity to them. Trees contribute to the betterment of humans and these organisms.

Improving water balance

When it rains, trees hold that falling water in their roots and don't let it seep into the drains. This increases the level of groundwater. They prevent the water from overflowing during flood emergencies before it hits the plains. Trees ensure that the soil remains intact when water is shedding down so that landslides or soil erosion does not happen.

We must conserve trees around us, and people worldwide should work in this regard as trees play a very significant role in uplifting human existence. Clean oxygen and water, and food are basic amenities that trees provide us, and we wouldn't survive without them. Conservation of trees is essential as they create a sustainable environment and help organisms live and humans. Trees work endlessly to serve and save the environment. Protecting trees would reduce the chances and effects of pollution, global warming, and other environmental concerns. Deforestation is the leading cause behind all this, which must be avoided.

These 10 places have the largest shares of middle class residents in the U.S.—4 are in the Midwest

By kamaron mcnair, cnbc • published 18 mins ago.

Depending on where you live, what's considered a middle income may not actually afford you a middle class lifestyle.

Still, over half of U.S. adults self-identify as middle class or upper-middle class, according to a 2024 Gallup Poll . That number has remained around 50% or higher for at least the last two decades.

Watch NBC 5 Chicago news stream free, 24/7, wherever you are

The numbers tell a similar story. Just over half of Americans — 51% — were considered middle class in 2023, according to Pew Research . The organization defines middle class as income between two-thirds and double the national median household income, after incomes have been adjusted for household size.

That's a significant drop from 1971, when 61% of U.S. households were middle income, Pew reports.

But some areas have larger middle class populations. Middle income residents make up 65% of the population in Dover, Delaware — the largest share of over 200 metropolitan areas Pew analyzed. There, you need to earn between $36,292 and $108,876 a year to be considered middle class.

For context, the U.S. median household income was $74,580 in 2022, according to the latest Census Bureau data . That means middle class households earned between $49,720 and $149,160, based on Pew's definition.

Here are the 10 metropolitan areas with the largest shares of middle class residents, according to Pew, and 2022 local median household incomes, according to the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey estimates.

1. Dover, Delaware

  • Share of residents in middle class: 65%
  • Median household income: $54,438

2. Olympia-Tumwater, Washington

Feeling out of the loop? We'll catch you up on the Chicago news you need to know. Sign up for the weekly Chicago Catch-Up newsletter here.
  • Share of residents in middle class: 64%
  • Median household income: $88,853

3. Glens Falls, New York

  • Share of residents in middle class: 63%
  • Median household income: $69,145

4. Bismarck, North Dakota

  • Median household income: $77,969

5. Ogden-Clearfield, Utah

  • Share of residents in middle class: 62%
  • Median household income: $92,600

6. Lancaster, Pennsylvania

  • Median household income: $82,691

7. Provo-Orem, Utah

  • Share of residents in middle class: 61%
  • Median household income: $95,687

8. Wausau, Wisconsin

  • Median household income: $67,462

9. Oshkosh-Neenah, Wisconsin

  • Median household income: $69,405

10. Grand Rapids-Wyoming, Michigan

  • Share of residents in middle class: 60%
  • Median household income: $77,771

At 61%, public administration jobs have one of the highest shares of middle earners compared with other industries, Pew found. That may contribute to why Dover, the capital of Delaware, has such as a high volume of middle class residents. Bismarck, the capital of North Dakota, may have a similar benefit.

The Midwest is the best-represented U.S. region in the ranking of metro areas with the largest shares of middle class populations with four places in the top 10 hailing from three states — Wisconsin, North Dakota and Michigan.

The middle-income populations here benefit from mid to low-costs of living compared with the rest of the country.

Wisconsin and North Dakota fall around the middle of all 50 states ranked by cost of living estimates, according to the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center state-by-state cost of living index , based on the Council for Community and Economic Research survey data . Michigan has an even lower cost of living — the 10th lowest in the country, according to the index.

I Supervised New York City Judges. Juan Merchan Put On a Master Class in the Trump Trial.

A photo illustration with two squares, one inside the other. The large square shows a close-up on a person’s chest with a blue suit, red tie and small American flag pin. The inner square on top shows a desk and a name plaque that reads Honorable Juan Manuel Merchan. There is an American flag on a pole to the side.

By George Grasso

Mr. Grasso is a retired New York City administrative judge.

I spent almost 13 years as a judge in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. I supervised judges presiding over a wide spectrum of cases, dealing with complex legal issues, angry victims, difficult defendants and intense media scrutiny. The job can at times be thankless and frustrating.

But for all the cases I saw, I never encountered anything remotely as challenging as what Justice Juan Merchan faced in his Manhattan courtroom while presiding over the first criminal trial of a former president. And since Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 counts, Justice Merchan has come under further vicious attack.

As a retiree, I was able to attend each day of the Trump trial. What I saw was a master class in what a judge should be — how one can serve fairly and impartially for the prosecution and the defense, and above all remain a pillar for the rule of law in America.

Since the indictment over the cover-up of hush-money payments was issued last year, Justice Merchan has been subjected to an unrelenting pressure campaign. The defendant, Mr. Trump, and his supporters viciously attacked the judge and his family in deeply personal terms. Most judges strive to maintain their composure under the greatest of stress, but few succeed — yet Justice Merchan remained cool, calm and collected at every step of the trial.

As a supervising judge, I always emphasized the importance of maintaining control to those under my charge. That is how a judge ensures that all defendants — especially the most difficult ones — get a fair trial. That is how everyone is treated with courtesy and how rulings are evenhanded and fair. In this area, Justice Merchan excelled.

He issued a gag order carefully designed to protect witnesses, jurors, prosecutors and court staff, but left himself out of the order. He did this to ensure that the defendant’s right to harshly criticize the proceedings was protected even though he must have known that he would become an even greater target of Mr. Trump’s ire. When Mr. Trump repeatedly violated the order, Justice Merchan bent over backward to avoid sending the defendant to jail, despite a clear legal justification to do so.

It is hard for me to think of another defendant acting out in the same manner who would have received such lenient treatment. But special times — and special trials — sometimes call for special measures. A judge needs to know when to apply such measures.

In the course of the trial, he maintained his composure. Defense attorneys received many favorable rulings, and in some instances (like during the testimony of Stormy Daniels) he even made and sustained objections on behalf of the defense during direct examination. On other occasions, when Mr. Trump engaged in particularly objectionable behavior (like muttering curses about a testifying witness), he calmly called one of the defense attorneys to the bench to put a stop to the inappropriate behavior. Other judges might have called out the behavior directly, embarrassing Mr. Trump in front of the jury, which could be seen as prejudicial to the defendant.

I can’t think of one time when the judge interjected himself unnecessarily against either prosecution or defense, but not everyone agrees with that. In a recent New York Post opinion piece , for example, the lawyer Alan Dershowitz referred to “one of the most remarkable wrongheaded biases I have ever seen” regarding Justice Merchan’s handling of the defense witness Robert Costello’s behavior.

Maintaining order and fairness in a courtroom is not bias; it is how justice is served, and it is no easy thing to obtain.

Since the verdict, Republicans have unleashed further attacks against Justice Merchan. One Arizona Republican running for a House seat called Justice Merchan “a corrupt and biased political operative” and said that he “must be disbarred and prosecuted.”

Let’s be clear, these attacks are not really about Justice Merchan. They are direct attacks on our entire system of justice. As President Biden said in remarks concerning this case on Friday afternoon, they are reckless, dangerous and irresponsible.

However, I do agree with Mr. Dershowitz’s position in that same opinion essay that we should televise trials in New York State, so all could see for themselves what I saw every day and what he saw on the day he was there. For most Americans who followed the case, all they were able to see has come from media gaggles outside the courtroom.

Justice Merchan had to set a boundary between Mr. Trump’s raucous but protected speech (barring transgressions of the gag order) and the fact-based evidentiary and back-and-forth questioning that is central to a trial. By guarding that boundary, he protected the integrity of the rule of law.

I am aware of the deep divisions in our country as to the wisdom and strength of this case. But I am certain that Americans were well served by Justice Merchan.

Some amusement parks focus more on thrill rides, while others feature more family-friendly attractions. This essay discusses the different types of amusement parks and the interests that accompany them.

The first type of amusement park is the traditional amusement park. These parks are focused on thrill rides and games such as roller coasters and giant Ferris wheels. These parks typically have a wide variety of other rides, including carousels, swings, and mini-golf.

The second type of amusement park is the theme park. These parks are focused on a specific theme, such as pirates or dinosaurs. Theme parks often feature a wider variety of rides than traditional amusement parks, including attractions based on movies or TV shows.

Firstly, a single day at an amusement park can be quite expensive. Secondly, make sure you have plenty of time. Most amusement parks open at 9 am and generally stay open until 11 pm or midnight, so it is vital to plan your day accordingly.

Before starting from home to the amusement park, map your route. This helps avoid getting lost and saves time. Moreover, it is always fun to know where all the attractions are.

Tickets for most amusement parks can be bought online or in advance from many different ticket vendors for a comparatively lesser price, and you can save some money . The UW will celebrate the Class of 2024 with commencement ceremonies for all three campuses. University of Washington

Award-winning author of “The Boys in the Boat,” Daniel James Brown, plans to inspire University of Washington graduates with the 1936 story of the men’s rowing team winning Olympic Gold. Brown is the featured speaker at the University of Washington’s 149th Commencement ceremony on Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Perseverance, resilience, earnestness, trustworthiness and humility were just as important as muscle and brawn, Brown believes, and if any of the nine-man crew were still alive today, they’d tell today’s graduates to aim high.

“Go for the gold, whatever form that might take in your life,” Brown plans to say. “Be audacious in your goals.”

More information:

  • UW Tacoma ’s commencement ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 7, at the Tacoma Dome and will be streamed live here. Doors open 60 minutes in advance.

Brown will receive an honorary degree  for his impact on scholarship in the humanities, and the UW will also honor Susan Solomon, a professor at MIT, for her pioneering research on ozone depletion and the chemistry of the stratosphere.

More than 7,000 UW graduates of the Class of 2024 plan to participate in the June 8 ceremony. Officials expect about 40,000 family and friends to cheer the graduates from the Husky Stadium grandstands.

UW Tacoma will hold its commencement June 7 at Tacoma Dome. UW Bothell’s graduation ceremonies are scheduled for June 9 at T-Mobile Park.

UW President Ana Mari Cauce will present 18,006 degrees to the Class of 2024 across all three UW campuses’ ceremonies. Members of the UW Board of Regents, deans and other representatives of the university’s 24 colleges and schools across all three campuses also will participate in the ceremonies.

The following data, drawn from preliminary information broken down by campus and prepared by the Office of the University Registrar, will be presented at the Board of Regents’ June 13 meeting:

  • For work completed at the  Seattle  campus, about 14,527 degrees will be conferred, specifically: 8,471 bachelor’s degrees, 4,518 master’s degrees, 607 professional degrees, 28 Educational Specialist degrees, and 902 doctoral degrees.
