You may imagine a personal hero, a real person who has made a significant impact on your life for the better. You might think of a true hero as someone who has shown heroic qualities in the public eye, working to help ordinary people through difficult situations.

When writing an essay about your life hero, it’s important to consider the qualities of that person that make them stand out to you. Whether you choose to write an essay about how your mom got you through tough times and became your role model or about a political figure who made a difference in the lives of people in history, it’s key to not just focus on the person’s actions—you’ll also want to focus on the qualities that allowed them to act heroically.

It can be interesting to think about your definition of a hero. When describing what the term hero means to you, you may want to choose a person (or a few people) you look up to as a hero to solidify your point. You might want to include fictional characters (such as those in the Marvel universe) and real-life brave souls, such as police officers and firefighters.

A word of caution: stay away from the cliche opening of describing how the dictionary defines a hero. Instead, lead-in with a personal story about a hero who has affected your life. While talking about a public figure as a hero is acceptable, you may find it easier to write about someone close to you who you feel has displayed heroic qualities. Writing about a family member or friend who has shown up as a heroic main character in your life can be just as exciting as writing about a real or imagined superhero.

From Beowulf to Marvel comics, heroes in literature take on many different traits. When writing an essay on what trait makes a hero come alive in a short story, novel, or comic, choose a few of your favorite heroes and find common themes that they share.

Perhaps your favorite heroes are selfless and are willing to put themselves last in the name of sacrifice for others. Perhaps they’re able to dig deep into the truth, being honest even when it’s hard, for the greater good. There’s no need to list endless heroes to make your point—choosing three or four heroes from literature can be a great way to support your argument about what characteristics define heroism in literature.

When someone is named a hero in real life, we often picture them saving people from a burning building or performing a difficult surgical operation. It can be difficult to pin down exactly what constitutes a heroic act. When writing about what constitutes a heroic act, think about people who go above and beyond, performing feats of courage, honesty, and bravery to support themselves or others. When writing about what constitutes a heroic act, discuss real-life or literary examples of heroes at work.

To many people, being a hero means giving back to others. While giving something away or trading in one’s well-being for others can certainly be seen as a heroic act, many people wonder if selflessness is required for heroism or if a hero can serve the greater good in a way that also supports their happiness. When writing about whether selflessness is required for heroism, choose examples from literature and real-life to support your point.

My hero isn’t very famous, but she ought to be. She’s Mary Anning, who was only 12 years old and from a poor family when she made an amazing discovery. She found the first dinosaur skeleton, that of an ichthyosaur, on the cliffs of Lyme Regis in the south of England. That was in 1811, and until then people had thought that it was impossible for an animal to become extinct. Because she was a woman and didn’t have enough money for a proper education, she wasn’t able to take part properly in the scientific community of the time. But she read as much scientific literature as she could and continued to search for fossils, often risking her own life to get them by climbing dangerous cliffs. She once nearly died in a landslide which killed her dog. Although she didn’t write famous books about fossils, her contribution to palaeontology, the study of fossils, is said to be enormous. I admire her because she kept on trying to make new discoveries at a time when usually only men, and men with money, were allowed to be scientists. After her death the writer Charles Dickens said that ‘the carpenter’s daughter has won a name for herself, and has deserved to win it’.

My hero is Kailash Satyarthi, who has been campaigning against child slavery for years. He is from India and first became aware of the problem of children working when he was 6 and noticed that a boy younger than himself had to spend all day polishing shoes and was unable to go to school. When he was 11, he began to collect money to help buy textbooks for other children, and when he was 26 he gave up his job as an electrical engineer to fight child slavery in India, by doing things like raiding factories where children were forced to work, making rugs or glass bottles. He introduced a programme first called RugMark, now known as Goodweave, which puts tags on child-labour-free rugs made in factories. He has saved many thousands of children, over 80,000, from a terrible life of enforced labour in South Asia and helped them to get an education. He has often been physically attacked for helping children, for example for trying to free Nepalese children forced to work in a circus. He regularly risks his life to fight injustice; two of his colleagues have been murdered. I believe that the best thing he has done is to change how people think about child slavery and to make it an international issue.

I’m really interested in ecology and my hero, or heroine, is Rachel Carson because she first got people thinking about the way we humans are causing permanent damage to the Earth’s ecosystems. She began as a biologist, specialising in writing about the sea, but she gradually became aware of the danger of  using pesticides like DDT and the way they can harm the whole of the food chain, from the worm to humans! She wrote her classic book Silent Spring in 1962 to explain this to the general public, to explain how humans and nature are interdependent. The title of Silent Spring refers to the fact that one day all the birds might be dead so they won’t be able to sing in the springtime. The agricultural and chemical industries reacted very badly to the book and said she was unprofessional. But further research by other scientists proved that she was right about the dangers of chemicals used to kill insects. Nowadays there is a growing movement for organic food production, but unfortunately things in general are still getting worse, rather than better. We still need to read Rachel Carson’s book and think about its message.

My choice of hero isn’t very original, I’m afraid, but he’s the person I would most like to have met: John Lennon. He died a long time before I was born, and his most famous songs were written long before that, but when I listen to his music I really feel as if he’s speaking to me personally. I love the whole range of the Beatles’ music, from the early pop songs to the very experimental music at the end of their time as a group. John Lennon was the most innovative writer in the Beatles and he continued to create exciting music when he left and went solo. But although I love his music, what I admire about him is his dedication to universal peace. It’s amazing that the song Imagine, written in 1971, is still incredibly popular after all this time. It’s about a world where everyone can be equal, a world with no wars, no divisions between countries, no greed, no hunger, no material possessions ...  I’d like to meet him because he was a lifelong rebel, and although he could be a difficult person, he was original, clever and funny. It was awful that he was killed in 1980 when he was only 40. I wonder what he would be doing if he was alive now.

Although the list may seem endless, and there will always be some or the other disagreement of which of these should figure in the list of popular speeches of all time, given below is a compilation of famous speeches by famous people including former presidents, politicians, a great visionary, and a world-renowned dramatist.These have gone down in history as something that people find relevant and influential even today. It is not necessary for a speech to be long to be famous, even a short one can be great, if it has an ability to mesmerize and inspire the audience. What follows, is a list of some of the most notable short speeches of all time. These were given at historical junctions, and had a significant impact at that time, and hold true even today. As these speeches continue to inspire many, they will go down in the annals of time.

Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Pearl Harbor Address

One of the most famous speeches given by a sitting American President, although it lasted just a little over seven and a half minutes, it managed to stir a nation’s patriotism to the very bone and was a significant point in American history. President Roosevelt gave the famous speech to a joint session of Congress, the day after the Japanese bombing of the Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. An excerpt from the speech is as follows:

December 7th, 1941, a date which will live in infamy… No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might, will win through to absolute victory… I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7th, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese empire.

Ronald Reagan’s Speech Following the Challenger Disaster

American President Ronald Reagan made his famous short speech on national television following the disastrous explosion of the Challenger Space Shuttle. On 26 January, 1986 after only 73 seconds into its flight, the space shuttle broke apart, causing the death of all the seven crew members on board, including a classroom teacher who had been chosen to be the first ever non-astronaut classroom teacher to travel into space. President Reagan spoke of the traumatic accident saying:

Today is a day for mourning and remembering. Nancy and I are pained to the core by the tragedy of the shuttle Challenger. We know we share this pain with all people of our country. This is truly a national loss… Nineteen years ago, almost to the day, we lost three astronauts in a terrible accident on the ground. But we’ve never lost an astronaut in flight. We’ve never had a tragedy like this. And perhaps we’ve forgotten the courage it took for the crew of the shuttle. But they, the Challenger Seven, were aware of the dangers, but overcame them and did their jobs brilliantly. We mourn seven heroes: Michael Smith, Dick Scobee, Judith Resnik, Ronald McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Gregory Jarvis, and Christa McAuliffe. We mourn their loss as a nation together. One of President John F. Kennedy’s most famous speech, was given on 26 June, 1963, to consolidate United States’ support for West Germany a little less than two years after the Communist East Germany erected the Berlin Wall. One of the most famous phrases in history “ Ich bin ein Berliner “, was in fact a last-minute brain child of Kennedy, who came up with the idea of saying it in German, while he was walking up the stairs at the Rathaus (City Hall). It was a great motivational speech for West Berliners, who lived in the constant fear of a possible East German occupation. Given below is an excerpt from this historic speech:

Two thousand years ago the proudest boast was ‘Civis Romanus sum [I am a Roman citizen]’. Today, in the world of freedom, the proudest boast is ‘Ich bin ein Berliner’… All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Berlin, and, therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words ‘Ich bin ein Berliner!’

Bill Clinton’s “I Have Sinned” Speech

The famous, or rather infamous “I have sinned” speech, was delivered by President Bill Clinton at the annual White House prayer breakfast on September 11, 1998, in the presence of several ministers, priests and his wife, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. It was hand-written by the President Clinton himself and was delivered on the day of the publication of the first report by Independent Counsel Ken Starr, which threatened to impeach the President Clinton on the grounds of perjury and his sexual affair with former White House intern, Monica Lewinsky.

I agree with those who have said that in my first statement after I testified I was not contrite enough. I don’t think there is a fancy way to say that I have sinned. It is important to me that everybody who has been hurt know that the sorrow I feel is genuine: first and most important, my family; also my friends, my staff, my Cabinet, Monica Lewinsky and her family, and the American people. I have asked all for their forgiveness… But I believe that to be forgiven, more than sorrow is required – at least two more things. First, genuine repentance – a determination to change and to repair breaches of my own making. I have repented. Second, what my bible calls a ”broken spirit”; an understanding that I must have God’s help to be the person that I want to be; a willingness to give the very forgiveness I seek; a renunciation of the pride and the anger which cloud judgment, lead people to excuse and compare and to blame and complain…

Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” Speech

“I have a dream” speech by Martin Luther King Jr., which was delivered on 28 August, 1963 at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom , was a path-breaking moment for the Civil Rights Movement in America. Given to an audience of more than 200,000 people, this speech was ranked as the top American speech by a 1999 poll of scholars.

I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.” I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today. Steve Jobs ‘Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish’ Speech

One of my personal favorites, and a speech that today’s youth identify themselves with, is the Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ commencement speech on 12 June, 2005 at Stanford, which was replete with inspirational quotes. His last words in the address “ Stay hungry, stay foolish ” is one of the most famous quotes and is echoed the world over even today, and spurred on a bestselling book of the same name. It summed up his life in three parts, which he narrated in the form of three stories. This is a small excerpt from this notable short inspirational speech:

I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I’ve ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That’s it. No big deal. Just three stories… When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960s’, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.

Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.” It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.

Subhash Chandra Bose- An Unsung Hero

Whenever we hear the name Subhash Chandra Bose, the first thing that comes in our mind is a popular saying by him, “Tum Mujhe Khoon do main tumhe Azadi dunga”.

Subhash Chandra Bose, popularly known as Netaji, was a great militant, freedom fighter and a patriot. He was born in Cuttack, Orissa on 23rd January 1897 to Janakinath Bose and Prabhavati Devi. His father Janakinath Bose was a well-known lawyer of his time. His mother Prabhavati Devi was a religious woman. 

Subhash Chandra was a brilliant student who had scored the second position in the matriculation exam. At an early age, he started reading about Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna and was influenced by their teachings. Bose completed his B.A. Hons in Philosophy in 1918 from the University of Calcutta. He later went to England in September 1919 for further studies. He was selected for the Indian Civil Service but he did not want to stay in England and serve the British government. Subhash Chandra resigned from his Civil Service job in 1921 and returned to India after hearing of the national turmoil in India. 

From a young age, Subhash Chandra Bose had the nationalist temperament and Britishers’ discrimination towards Indians would fill him with rage. To serve the country, he joined the Indian National Congress (also known as the Congress Party). Bose joined the Noncooperation Movement, started by Gandhi under his influence. Bose was a revolutionary freedom fighter who was known to have founded the Azad Hind Army or Indian National Army. For his revolutionary movements, Bose had been to jail several times. He was suspected of connections with secret revolutionary movements and was sent to Mandalay Jail in Burma (Myanmar) where he contracted Tuberculosis. Bose was elected the president of Congress party and worked along with Jawahar Lal Nehru, another great political leader. Both had a more militant and left-wing approach to Independence, which became a reason for Bose’s differences with Gandhi and other Congress leaders. 

Bose’s selfless contribution to India’s Independence Movement and organizing and leading the Indian National Army is indispensable. His struggle of Independence was highlighted during the Civil Disobedience Movement for which he had even been arrested. In fact, he was imprisoned 11 times for his ideologies and the use of force against the British. Bose was elected the president of the Indian National Congress twice but he resigned from the post as he was against the congress internal and foreign policy. 

Soon, he left the party and went out of the country seeking an alliance with other countries to fight against British forces. He earned the support of the Japanese and they agreed to help him in forming the Indian national army in Southeast Asia. Later on, he became the commander of the INA. The Indian National Army attacked the North-eastern parts of India. This attack took place under the leadership of Subhash Chandra Bose and he was even successful in acquiring a few portions of the north-eastern parts of India. Unfortunately, the surrender of the Japanese forced him to withdraw and call off the war. It is believed that he died in a plane crash on 18th August 1945. Subash Chandra Bose was an unforgettable national hero who fought for the country’s freedom struggle against the British till his last breath. He is known to be one of the greatest heroes the country has ever seen!

A Little Bit About Subhash Chandra Bose

Subhash Chandra Bose was born in Cuttack, Orissa, in 1897. He grew up deeply identifying with the Indian Freedom Movement and subsequently became a part of it in the 1920s. 

He led a radical wing of the Indian National Congress (INC) throughout the 1920s and 1930s and eventually gained enough popularity and support to rise to a position of leadership in the INC. He eventually became the Congress President in 1938, but ended up leaving the party in 1939 because of a difference of opinion with the rest of the Congress leadership.

After his resignation from the Congress, he was placed under house arrest by the ruling British Government, but managed to escape India in 1940. Upon his escape, he made his way to Germany by 1941, where he secured the sympathy and help of the Nazi party in his plan to overthrow the British Occupation. With help from Germany's ally Japan, he Bose headed the Indian National Army (INA) which attempted to "conquer" parts of India, thereby freeing those areas from British Occupation. This attempt eventually failed and in 1945, the INA was soundly defeated by the British forces. 

Despite his failure at leading a military revolt against the British Occupation, Bose was extremely successful in another area. In 1941, a Free India Radio was set up with help from Germany, on which Bose regularly spoke about the Indian Freedom Movement. Due to his charisma and charm, he succeeded in generating a wave of support for the Indian Freedom Movement.

My favourite national hero, netaji subhash chandra bose.

Give me your blood. I shall give you freedom. No modern national leader would make such an offer. They just beg your votes and promise to give you some material gains. They can purchase your votes. But Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was the person who demanded the ultimate sacrifice of the people. He did not make any personal promises. His only aim was the freedom of the Motherland. He did not let people believe that there are any short cuts to independence. He did not offer any soft padding war. No personal or individual benefits. It was a national cause and the nation would secure the advantages as a whole. I love and rever this great soul for this basic frankness, and the lesson of renunciation he taught to the people.

Born on 23 rd January, 1897 at Cuttack in Orissa Subhash graduated in 1915 from Presidency College, Calcutta. He accepted the challenge of his father, went to England, did graduation from Cambridge University and secured fourth position in the I.C.S Examination. But he refused to serve the British Government. He returned to India in1920 and associated himself with Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das. He was an active participant in the freedom movement. It was his first experience of Jail.

In 1923 he became Chief Executive officer of Calcutta Corporation when Deshbandhu became Mayor. From October 25, 1924 to May 16, 1927 he was again behind the bars. After being elected twice as the Mayor of Calcutta Subhash met Gandhi in1928. He was not satisfied with his non violent methods. In 1930 he was again arrested on 26 th of January and was released in 1931 after Gandhi Irwin Pact. He was again arrested Long imprisonments and having been brutally beaten by police he was seriously ill. He suffered from Tuberculosis and was sent to Vienna for treatment on March 8, 1933. During this stay in Europe he met De Valera of Ireland, King Amanulla Khan, Mussolini in Italy and many others.

Returning to Calcutta in 1938 this young man became the 51 st President of Indian National Congress. But he didn’t see Gandhi eye to eye. Next year he was elected again defeating Pattabbi Sitaramayya Gandhi considered it his own defeat. He left the party and formed Forward Bloc. On July2, 1940 he was again imprisoned. After his release he was under house arrest.

For here starts the historic journey. On January 15, 1941 he ran away from his house as a Maulvi. Dressed as a Pathan he passed through Afghanistan as Ziyauddin and reached Moscow on 27 th March. When Stalin refused him help he reached Berlin on 28 th March, 1941. He formed Azad Hind Fauj in Germany with the help of Hitler. On 20 th June 1943 he was in Japan. Bose became the President of the Azad Hind Government and the Commander of the army. His headquarter, now, was Andaman and Nicobar Island. The army consisted of 50,000 soldiers and 1,500 officers. It was stationed at Singapore. Later on Rangoon became the headquarter. On 18 th March 1944 the army reached Kohima in Assam. But August 1945 saw Hiroshima and Nagasaki attacked with atom bombs. Japan surrendered. Azad Hind Army too had to surrender. But nothing is known of this great son of the Motherland. Some believe that he died in an air crash. Others believe him still alive. Whatever the truth may be. But he lives honorable in the hearts of millions and millions of people I India even today.

1. India is a proud nation with many national leaders. I respect them all, and admire their courage and strength. But Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru stands out as the one I admire most. He is my favourite hero!

2. Pandit Nehru was born on 14 November, 1889. His parents were very well off and lived in a huge house in Allahabad.

3. His father’s name was Motilal Nehru and his mother’s Swarup Rani. Both his parents took part in the freedom struggle.

4. Nehru was educated in England where he studied law. He later became a barrister.

5. He had all the comforts of life, and was loved by his family and friends. However, his love for his country overpowered everything-all he wanted was to see it freed from the shackles of British rule. He met Gandhiji in 1916 and joined India’s fight for freedom.

6. He spent nearly twelve years in jail. Some of his best books were written there.

7. His daughter, Indira Gandhi, then a young girl, followed in her father’s footsteps, and later became the Prime Minister of our country.

8. India became a free nation on August 15, 1947, and Pandit Nehru became its first Prime Minister.

9. He served for seventeen years as Prime Minister till he died on May 27, 1964. He loved children and his birthday on November 14 is celebrated as “Children’s Day”. He always wore a red rose in the buttonhole of his coat.

10. He is fondly called “Chacha Nehru”. He was indeed a great person and shall always remain my hero!

Superheroes were created during the Great Depression, popularized during World War II, and re-popularized after 9/11. They're historically more than entertainment -- they're mouthpieces for humanity's aspirations and loftier goals. Which probably explains why every other sentence that comes out of their mouths is a galvanizing speech of some sort (Hulk's irradiated mumbling notwithstanding). Here's our humble attempt to round out the most inspirational and just plain coolest ones.

6 Captain America's "No, You Move" ( Captain America: Civil War )

The Context:

The U.S. government has passed a law forcing everyone who has ever worn their underpants on the outside to register or go to jail. Captain America ain't a fan.

The Speech:

"Compromise where you can. Where you can't, don't. Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say, 'No, you move'."

Can this quote be used to justify some insane and/or evil crap? Yep. But it also perfectly captures Captain America: an incredibly stubborn man who (luckily for the rest of us) happens to have an exceptionally fine-tuned moral compass. While this speech is delivered by romantic interest Sharon Carter in the movie, it's adapted from a similar speech made by Cap himself in The Amazing Spider-Man #537 (2006). Considering that ( ENDGAME SPOILERS AHEAD, as if you haven't watched that movie five times by now) Cap ultimately goes back in time and marries Sharon's aunt, maybe she originally heard it from him during one of their supremely awkward family dinners.

There are other great speeches that demonstrate why Steve Rogers calls himself Captain America and not Captain Federal Government of the United States of America, but no one has put it more succinctly than Frank Miller in Daredevil: Born Again :

Earth is currently being visited by a space tyrant who makes Thanos look like a chump, because he is in fact the original Thanos . Understandably, Superman offers him a less-than-warm welcome .

"I feel like I live in a world made of cardboard, always taking constant care not to break something, to break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control even for a moment, or someone could die. But you can take it, can't you, big man? What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose and show you just how powerful I really am."

Above is evidence that you can do scenes with Superman punching villains through buildings, and the fans will accept it if the dialogue is good enough (like, compare this Superman to Man Of Steel Superman). The implication here is that Superman lives in a constant "dad tiptoeing around the house at night so the kids don't wake up" state, because he's afraid of hurting people -- bad guys included. Depicting Superman as a very cautious bull in a china shop adds another layer of complexity to the character, and let's be honest, it's just cool to watch Superman manhandle villains while dropping one-liners.

4 Batman's "None Of You Are Safe" ( Batman: Year One )

Gotham City is plagued by corrupt politicians, corrupt cops, and probably all the way down to corrupt school cafeteria workers. Then some nut in a bat costume shows up ...

"Ladies. Gentlemen. You have eaten well. You've eaten Gotham's wealth. Its spirit. Your feast is nearly over. From this moment on -- none of you are safe."

Batman's introductory speech to his fellow one-percenters is short and to the point. "Hey. Time's up. Thanks for the fondue." Then he leaves. It seems like pointless theatrics, but we're talking about a guy who lovingly carves bat ears onto every object he owns, simply to scare criminals a little bit more (as if a caped ninja master beating you up in a dark alley wasn't scary enough on its own). He's all about the pointless theatrics. Dude would be directing pretentious Off-Broadway musicals if he was slightly more well-adjusted.

This scene was written by Frank Miller, who established that Batman's verbal beatdowns could be almost as brutal as his physical ones. There's his "I want you to remember my hand at your throat" speech to Superman in The Dark Knight Returns , and this little nugget from the same comic:

NOTE: Yes, we're deliberately ignoring the "Batman soiled his pants while saying the speech" retcon by Kevin Smith. That never happened, nope.

3 Aunt May Tells Miles Morales NOT To Be Like Peter Parker ( Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man #14)

Spider-Man is dead, and some new kid is trying to fill his tights, but he doesn't think he can live up to Peter Parker's legacy. Luckily, there's still someone named Parker around .

"Don't do what we say, don't do what he says, don't do what you think Peter would say ... Do what your heart tells you. I've learned a lot in my life and I've learned that life is too short for anything else. Don't do what Peter would do. Do what Miles Morales would do."

Aunt May's advice is a natural extension of her late husband's famous "With great power ..." speech. Peter Parker wasn't born a hero. He became one because dumb luck (and poor lab safety regulations) gave him the proportional strength of a spider, and he learned to rise to the occasion. Miles Morales demonstrates that if someone else can follow the same simple power/responsibility formula, boom, they're Spider-Man now.

This is also a major theme in Into The Spider-Verse , wherein we learn that even totally ridiculous characters like a cartoon pig, an anime girl, or Nicolas Cage can be Spider-Man. The movie ends with Miles telling us even we can be Spider-Man as we sit there stuffing our faces with popcorn. In fact, there's a deleted scene in which Peter paraphrases Aunt May ("Don't do it like me, do it like you"), which can still be seen in the trailer:

2 Lex Luthor Sees The World Through Superman's Eyes And Freaks Out ( All-Star Superman )

Lex Luthor has taken a serum to give himself Superman's powers. What he didn't count on was also gaining Superman's perspective ...

"It's so obvious. The fundamental forces are yoked by consciousness. Everything's connected. Everyone. And this is how he sees things all the time, every day ... Like it's all just us, in here together. And we're all we've got."

For a while, DC tried to sell us on Lex Luthor as a superhero, giving him a cool armor, a cape, and even a Justice League membership. None of that was as effective as the few seconds in All-Star Superman when Lex finally sees the world as Superman does, in both a literal and philosophical sense. After gaining Superman's super-senses, Lex realizes that reality is bound together by a single consciousness we all belong to, like an endless psychic human centipede (but more wholesome).

In the animated adaptation, this realization makes Lex collapse and admit the error of his ways. In the comic, Superman uses the opportunity to punch him . We'll let you decide which one is superior. And of course, we can't talk about this comic without mentioning the scene in which Superman prevents a suicide with a few words and a well-placed hug ...

... which seems exactly like the sort of thing you'd go around doing if you knew we're all part of the same universal mind. By the way, if you're wondering how the comic's writer came up with that idea, he didn't. It was one of the things the aliens showed him when they kidnapped him .

1 Stan Lee Lays It On The Line ( Stan's Soapbox: The Collection )

It's the '60s, and radical ideas like "black people should have the same rights as whites" are still considered too controversial for almost all mainstream entertainment. Almost.

The Speeches:

"Let's lay it right on the line. Bigotry and racism are among the deadliest social ills plaguing the world today. But, unlike a team of costumed super-villains, they can't be halted with a punch in the snoot, or a zap from a ray gun. The only way to destroy them is to expose them -- to reveal them for the insidious evils they really are."

OK, so Stan Lee was definitely not a superhero. Heck, some of his collaborators made him sound closer to the Green Goblin than to Spider-Man. He also made it clear early on that he didn't like getting political. He was a salesman by nature, and talking about politics is a great way to alienate half your buying audience. But to Lee, issues like Civil Rights weren't political. They were about basic human decency, and he didn't shy away from touching them in his stories or Stan's Soapbox columns , even if it bothered some readers.

This attitude clearly rubbed off on the rest of the Marvel Bullpen. The letters page for Silver Surfer #7 includes a letter from a reader scandalized because the comic acknowledged that *gasp* discrimination against black people exists. The editor's response:

"Marvel Comics: We'd At Least Like to Have it Said of Us That We Tried" is pretty bad as a slogan, but great in every other sense. Excelsior!

Good morning everyone present here, today I am going to give a speech on if I had a superpower. From my perspective, I would want to be able to fly and be invisible. I would want to fly and make the world free from crimes and all the things that can harm the Earth’s peaceful and calm environment. I love Earth because it is our mother Earth. It is our duty to save the earth. So, I can bring about peace. I must be able to fly as fast to solve all problems. I would use my superpowers to help people who are in trouble. I would go to someone in trouble and offer my assistance. I want to see every person be happy in their life. So, this superpower idea can change the whole world for the better. 

Most of our problems stem from the breakdown of harmony and serenity in different spheres of our lives. Prior to the realization of power and greed, people knew how to live in peace and harmony with the environment. 

I could use my superpower to promote harmony and peace. Not just in society, but also in people’s minds, there should be peace and harmony. Thus, everything culminates in society’s peace and harmony. Today’s society requires appropriate care. It is ailing from issues like terrorism and riots. People can contribute to improving the world if they have peace of mind. The world simply needs to be a peaceful place right now. to enable it to live independently. Thank you.

My Favourite Hero in History

An air of romance surrounds the Elizabethan, age sand gives. It a fascination that no other period of English history possesses. The great Armada sent by a bloated enemy, insolent with wealth and pride, and defeated by the inhabitants of a little island, whose courageous defence seems to have been aided by the winds of Heaven, provides a story which never fails to quicken the pulses of the brave. There are many great names which give a lustre to this period the names of men eminent in literature, of whom Shakespeare, though the greatest, is only one of great statesmen like Burleigh, of fighters and adventurers like. Drake of men like Sidney and Raleigh, distinguished as courtiers, Soldiers and scholars. Among these one name, that of a man not otherwise pre-eminent, who won immortal fame by his death, arouses the profoundest admiration, whenever mentioned. Many great deeds of valour were done by the sea heroes of England in this age, but, the greatest was the last fight of Sir Richard Grenville.

He was sent out to the Azores to intercept the Spanish La Plata fleet. Philip of Spain dispatched a fleet of fifty-three ships to frustrate the attempt, and to bring the gold ships into port. The ships met, six English against fifty-three Spanish. The superiority of, the latter was so great that five of the English ships were compelled to give way. A number of Sir Richard Grenville’s men were lying sick on shore, and, rather than abandon them to the Spaniards who would hand them over to the inquisition, he chose to remain in the Revenge, the old ship in which Sir Francis Drake had fought the Armada up the English Channel.

He had only a hundred men with him to fight the whole Spanish fleet, but they were each as brave as himself. For twelve hours, the Spaniards poured their shot into the doomed ship. They boarded her fifteen times, and were repulsed with determined bravery. Sir Richard was twice wounded. He was carried below, and received another shot in the head, while the surgeon who was dressing him was killed by his side. In this helpless state he advised that the ship should be sunk rather than yield; but most of the crew opposed this, and the Revenge struck the only ship yet taken by the Spaniards. But she was so terribly injured by the shot poured into her from all sides that she could not be kept afloat, and went down in two days.

The death of the hero was as noble as his life. “Here”, he said, “I, Richard Grenville, die with a joyful, and quiet, mind, for that I have ended my life as a true soldier ought to do, fighting for his country, queen, religion and honour my soul willingly “departing from the body, leaving behind the lasting fame of having behaved as every valiant soldier is in his duty bound to do.” And so passed away the brave Sir Richard Grenville.

And while I do agree with that sentiment in general, I will never pass up a great motivational podcast or YouTube video! 😀 There’s just something about them that even if they might not have lasting effects, they do truly help pump me up in the moment to get work done. And that’s usually what matters to me the most when I am looking for them in the first place.

This video is one of the best motivational speech examples because it reminds you of something so important: sometimes we can be so focused on earning more money, gaining fame, and becoming admired that we lose ourselves or we lose sight of what’s really important to us in the process.

Jim Carrey talks about how he is a great example of that. He got all of the money, fame, and admiration, and admits that that wasn’t really who he was. Sometimes it’s nice to be reminded that money and fame, or even getting to the top of the corporate ladder, while nice, aren’t going to be the thing that brings you fulfillment when it’s all said and done.

He’s probably my absolute favorite motivational speaker because he is successful and he works hard, but he’s also (seemingly) a kind, family guy who’s been through a few things.

It’s the only way to get what you want in life.

As we have seen in the movies that the hero is very popular in his locality so do my father because he is ready to help everyone at any time. I remember a recent incident when one of his colleagues and friend fall ill and needed help then my father wholeheartedly supported him and his family. My father helped them in the most critical times when they needed help.

In addition, he also arranged for finances for them. As at that time they are not financially stable and his colleagues are the only earning member of the family. Also, he spends an hour in the hospital to complete the formalities and arranging the medicine.

Besides, my father many of his other colleagues also contributed money and other means to help the family of ill. After the complete recovery of the colleague he and his family visited our home and especially thanked my father for his efforts and help. After that incident whenever I think of that incident I feel proud of him. I learned this willingness to help others from him.

Striking Balance in Life

My father has other qualities too he also hard working and punctual and dedicated to his work and often work late hours. But for this, he never compromises his time with family. Besides, in the office and among our relatives everyone appreciates him for his hard work. 

Also, during his college and school day is was among the top performer and won many awards. In his office often announced as the employee of the month. Besides, there were times when I have seen him working late at hours even on holidays. He knows how to maintain his professional and personal life and that’s the thing I love most about him.

Many of my friend’s complaint that their father does not look after them because of their work. Also, they even said that they hate their father because he often comes late and doesn’t love them. Besides, I am lucky that my father is different from them as he gives importance to his family first and after that work.

In addition, he makes sure to come at a time and give time to us (his family). He is a caring husband and helps our mother in small household work to share her workload.

To conclude, my father is a responsible man who clearly knows that between work and family; family comes first. Also, he is always ready to help others no matter what he is doing. Besides, he completely dedicated to his work but does not ignore us in the event. Above all, we stay put to him as we have learned all our good deeds from him.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him)

My hero is as great and kind as an angel. I am proud of being one of his followers. He is the prophet of Islam Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Prophet Muhammad is a great figure in the world, and one of the most influential people humanity has ever witnessed. His words and deeds greatly affected human thought and behavior throughout history. He was a religious teacher, a great father, a wonderful husband, a faithful friend, an excellent guide, a strong believer, social and political reformer, and the best companion.

I love him more than myself because of his special status in our religion. Allah has honored him. All Muslims are grateful to him for his achievements.

Muhammad (p.u.h) is a prophet sent from Allah to all humankind. He is the last prophet. He was born in Makah in the year 570. He was orphan. So, he was raised by his uncle Abd Al Motaleb who was from a tribe called Quraysh.

Muhammad was illiterate and most of people at that time were illiterate too. But he was famous for being truthful, trustworthy, confident, and generous. He used to help the poor by giving them charity; he used to play with children and make them happy and he was so honest and sincere to the extent that people called him the trustworthy.

At forty Muhammad received his first revelation from Allah through the angel, Gabriel. At first, he was afraid. When he returned home, he told his wife Khadija what was going on. Khadija took him to her cousin (Waraka Ibn Nawfal) who told Muhammad that he was going to be a prophet.

Muhammad was very happy and waited for the second revelation from Allah. For twenty -three years, the verses of The Holy Quran came successively.

He and his followers suffered from unbelievers who tried to hurt them. Allah allowed them to emigrate from Makah to The Medina in the year 622.Some years later, Muhammad and his followers became stronger and were able to return to Makah. 

After the death of the prophet (p.u.h.) ,Islam had spread to remote lands in the world. Among the reasons for the fast and peaceful spread of Islam was the truth and clarity of this religion and the simplicity of its message.

Prophet Muhammad is up to now a perfect example of honesty, fairness, mercifulness, compassion, faith, courage and commitment; an exceptional, thoughtful human being in brief.

Many famous figures recognized him as an important person in the history of mankind. Some of these are well-known writers and leaders: Bernard Show, LaMartine, and Gandhi.

Every individual on this earth has different view about what a hero actually is. They may conclude it in terms of a size, shape, characteristics, beliefs and values.

But for me a real life hero is a person who willingly delivers his/ her 100% to protect his/ her dear ones from pain and agony.

Nothing can stop a real hero to provide safety and security to people they love and care. A heroic personality does not have to be an impeccable character sustaining high value in the society. A hero is someone who cares for your happiness & deeply loves you for what you are. For me my mother is my real hero. It took me 10 years after birth to realize the hidden hero inside my mother.

I recall those days when I was around 5-6 years old when I used to throw enormous tantrums about eating healthy food. Being a hero she taught me to eat every last bite of a chapatti, broccoli, pea or whatever was left in my plate.

I was a kid to understand her immense love towards me and I thought that she is a cruel individual forcing me to eat tasteless food. But in realty she wanted me to remain healthy so that I can lead a healthy life style and attend my school well.

She taught me to be patient and control my anger as I got angry very easily since I was too young. She taught me the importance of having a healthy life style. Still I was too immature to understand what she says and sneak chapattis under the table.

Today I am a big teenage girl of 15. I am disciplined, focused, and healthy and stood a topper throughout my academic career. This is all possible because of one person, my hero my mother. All my friends respect my mother too. She is not a mother but my best friend. I can discuss all my problems with her whenever I face any difficulties because I know she is the best one to show me the right path.

In my low times she always asks me to remain calm and patient and wait for the right time. I still remember the way she used to hide Christmas gifts for me when I was a kid. Every year on Christmas I wake up seeing Santa’s gift in stockings for me kept by her. The gift was always of my choice and I was never disappointed. She also used to keep a letter along with the gift saying that Santa wants me to do those things.

The letter was full of importance of life, success and importance of being a better human being. All my friends consider me quiet luck to have her as my mother. I love my mother and lot and I thank god that I am blessed with such a good hearted person as my mother. I love my mother a lot. She is my life my hero.
