finance research letters submit paper

The set of journals have been ranked according to their SJR and divided into four equal groups, four quartiles. Q1 (green) comprises the quarter of the journals with the highest values, Q2 (yellow) the second highest values, Q3 (orange) the third highest values and Q4 (red) the lowest values.

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Evolution of the number of published documents. All types of documents are considered, including citable and non citable documents.

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.

Evolution of the total number of citations and journal's self-citations received by a journal's published documents during the three previous years. Journal Self-citation is defined as the number of citation from a journal citing article to articles published by the same journal.

Evolution of the number of total citation per document and external citation per document (i.e. journal self-citations removed) received by a journal's published documents during the three previous years. External citations are calculated by subtracting the number of self-citations from the total number of citations received by the journal’s documents.

International Collaboration accounts for the articles that have been produced by researchers from several countries. The chart shows the ratio of a journal's documents signed by researchers from more than one country; that is including more than one country address.

Not every article in a journal is considered primary research and therefore "citable", this chart shows the ratio of a journal's articles including substantial research (research articles, conference papers and reviews) in three year windows vs. those documents other than research articles, reviews and conference papers.

Ratio of a journal's items, grouped in three years windows, that have been cited at least once vs. those not cited during the following year.

Evolution of the percentage of female authors.

Evolution of the number of documents cited by public policy documents according to Overton database.

Evoution of the number of documents related to Sustainable Development Goals defined by United Nations. Available from 2018 onwards.

  • Your shipping options and general shipping times are: DHL for international - 2-5 postal days and UPS for domestic – 1-6 business days depending on delivery address. . We can track your shipment status at any time.

Submit a Paper

Before beginning your submission to the Review of Finance you must carefully read the information and follow the guidelines on this page as well as the RF’s Editorial Policy . Failure to do so may lead to your paper being desk-rejected. When you have reviewed the information on this page and are ready to submit your manuscript, please click HERE .

The following guidelines apply to all manuscripts and registered reports:

  • The font size must be at least 12 points, with at least 1.5 line spacing, 1-inch side margins, and 1.5-inch top/bottom margins
  • The abstract must not exceed 150 words
  • The first (title page) of the manuscript must be numbered page 1 . This ensures that the numbers on the printed and electronic versions coincide, making it easier for the review team to provide comments
  • The document must be a PDF file
  • The document must not contain any references to the author(s), either by name, institution, or other distinguishing characteristics
  • The document must not exceed 60 pages . This page limit includes appendices, bibliographies, figures, and tables. Additional material may be included in an Internet Appendix that does not count towards the page limit. However, the paper should be self-contained without the reader needing to read the Internet Appendix. Note that 60 pages is an extreme upper limit, not a target; we encourage authors to make their papers as concise as possible
  • No cover letter is typically necessary . In particular, it is not necessary to include a cover letter explaining your contribution (as this should be clear from your abstract and introduction). Cover letters are only relevant for unusual circumstances, e.g. to notify the editor about potentially conflicted referees.
  • There is a drop-down that allows you to suggest an editor (or choose “None Selected”). Please ensure that your suggestion does not violate the conflict of interest policy . We will take author suggestions into account but are not always able to accommodate them due to factors such as workload, fit, and conflicts. The actual assignment is at the journal’s discretion. If your paper is an R&R it will automatically be assigned to the editor who previously handled it, so there is no option to select an editor
  • After uploading your files and completing the payment form, your submission is not yet complete . You will be redirected from the payment form to the submission system and will need to complete a final confirmation step. If this redirection fails, the submission can be completed by following the provided link to the electronic submission session and selecting the option ‘Previously Interrupted Submission (Paid submission fee but the submission was interrupted)’ as payment type and entering the Transaction ID that is provided during the online payment

If the web submission process does not work for some reason, please email the technical support team at [email protected] . As a last resort, please email your anonymous manuscript and a separate title page (containing the authors’ details) to [email protected] .

Reference management. Clean and simple.

How to format your references using the Finance Research Letters citation style

This is a short guide how to format citations and the bibliography in a manuscript for Finance Research Letters . For a complete guide how to prepare your manuscript refer to the journal's instructions to authors.

  • Using reference management software

Typically you don't format your citations and bibliography by hand. The easiest way is to use a reference manager:

  • Journal articles

Those examples are references to articles in scholarly journals and how they are supposed to appear in your bibliography.

Not all journals organize their published articles in volumes and issues, so these fields are optional. Some electronic journals do not provide a page range, but instead list an article identifier. In a case like this it's safe to use the article identifier instead of the page range.

  • Books and book chapters

Here are examples of references for authored and edited books as well as book chapters.

Sometimes references to web sites should appear directly in the text rather than in the bibliography. Refer to the Instructions to authors for Finance Research Letters.

This example shows the general structure used for government reports, technical reports, and scientific reports. If you can't locate the report number then it might be better to cite the report as a book. For reports it is usually not individual people that are credited as authors, but a governmental department or agency like "U. S. Food and Drug Administration" or "National Cancer Institute".

  • Theses and dissertations

Theses including Ph.D. dissertations, Master's theses or Bachelor theses follow the basic format outlined below.

  • News paper articles

Unlike scholarly journals, news papers do not usually have a volume and issue number. Instead, the full date and page number is required for a correct reference.

  • In-text citations

References should be cited in the text by name and year in parentheses :

Here are examples of in-text citations with multiple authors:

  • Two authors: (Kidner and Martienssen, 2004)
  • Three or more authors: (Michel et al., 2011)
  • About the journal
  • Other styles
  • Bioorganic Chemistry
  • Veterinary Pathology

Impact factor (IF) is a scientometric factor based on the yearly average number of citations on articles published by a particular journal in the last two years. A journal impact factor is frequently used as a proxy for the relative importance of a journal within its field. Find out more: What is a good impact factor?

III. Other Science Influence Indicators

Any impact factor or scientometric indicator alone will not give you the full picture of a science journal. There are also other factors such as H-Index, Self-Citation Ratio, SJR, SNIP, etc. Researchers may also consider the practical aspect of a journal such as publication fees, acceptance rate, review speed. Call for High School Projects

Machine learning for social impact .

The Thirty-Eighth Annual Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS 2024) is an interdisciplinary conference that brings together researchers in machine learning, neuroscience, statistics, optimization, computer vision, natural language processing, life sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, and other adjacent fields.

This year, we invite high school students to submit research papers on the topic of machine learning for social impact.  A subset of finalists will be selected to present their projects virtually and will have their work spotlighted on the NeurIPS homepage.  In addition, the leading authors of up to five winning projects will be invited to attend an award ceremony at NeurIPS 2024 in Vancouver.

Each submission must describe independent work wholly performed by the high school student authors.  We expect each submission to highlight either demonstrated positive social impact or the potential for positive social impact using machine learning. Application areas may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Agriculture
  • Climate change
  • Homelessness
  • Food security
  • Mental health
  • Water quality

Authors will be asked to confirm that their submissions accord with the NeurIPS code of conduct and the NeurIPS code of ethics .

Submission deadline: All submissions must be made by June 27th, 4pm EDT. The system will close after this time, and no further submissions will be possible.

We are using OpenReview to manage submissions. Papers should be submitted here . Submission will open June 1st.  Submissions under review will be visible only to their assigned program committee. We will not be soliciting comments from the general public during the reviewing process. Anyone who plans to submit a paper as an author or a co-author will need to create (or update) their OpenReview profile by the full paper submission deadline.

Formatting instructions:   All submissions must be in PDF format. Submissions are limited to four content pages , including all figures and tables; additional pages containing only references are allowed. You must format your submission using the NeurIPS 2024 LaTeX style file using the “preprint” option for non-anonymous submission. The maximum file size for submissions is 50MB. Submissions that violate the NeurIPS style (e.g., by decreasing margins or font sizes) or page limits may be rejected without further review.  Papers may be rejected without consideration of their merits if they fail to meet the submission requirements, as described in this document.

Mentorship and collaboration:  The submitted research can be a component of a larger research endeavor involving external collaborators, but the submission should describe only the authors’ contributions.  The authors can also have external mentors but must disclose the nature of the mentorship.  At the time of submission, the authors will be asked to describe the involvement of any mentors or external collaborators and to distinguish mentor and collaborator contributions from those of the authors.  In addition, the authors may (optionally) to include an acknowledgements section acknowledging the contributions of others following the content sections of the submission. The acknowledgements section will not count toward the submission page limit.

Proof of high school attendance: Submitting authors will also be asked to upload a signed letter, on school letterhead, from each author’s high school confirming that the author was enrolled in high school during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Supplementary artifacts:  In their submission, authors may link to supplementary artifacts including videos, working demonstrations, digital posters, websites, or source code.  Please do not link to additional text.  All such supplementary material should be wholly created by the authors and should directly support the submission content.

Review process:   Each submission will be reviewed by anonymous referees.  The authors, however, should not be anonymous.  No written feedback will be provided to the authors.

Use of Large Language Models (LLMs): We welcome authors to use any tool that is suitable for preparing high-quality papers and research. However, we ask authors to keep in mind two important criteria. First, we expect papers to fully describe their methodology.  Any tool that is important to that methodology, including the use of LLMs, should be described also. For example, authors should mention tools (including LLMs) that were used for data processing or filtering, visualization, facilitating or running experiments, or proving theorems. It may also be advisable to describe the use of LLMs in implementing the method (if this corresponds to an important, original, or non-standard component of the approach). Second, authors are responsible for the entire content of the paper, including all text and figures, so while authors are welcome to use any tool they wish for writing the paper, they must ensure that all text is correct and original.

Dual submissions:  Submissions that are substantially similar to papers that the authors have previously published or submitted in parallel to other peer-reviewed venues with proceedings or journals may not be submitted to NeurIPS. Papers previously presented at workshops or science fairs are permitted, so long as they did not appear in a conference proceedings (e.g., CVPRW proceedings), a journal, or a book.  However, submissions will not be published in formal proceedings, so work submitted to this call may be published elsewhere in the future. Plagiarism is prohibited by the NeurIPS Code of Conduct .

Paper checklist: In order to improve the rigor and transparency of research submitted to and published at NeurIPS, authors are required to complete a paper checklist . The paper checklist is intended to help authors reflect on a wide variety of issues relating to responsible machine learning research, including reproducibility, transparency, research ethics, and societal impact. The checklist does not count towards the page limit and will be entered in OpenReview.

Dear Colleague Letter: Using Long-Term Research Associated Data (ULTRA-Data)

April 23, 2024

Dear Colleague:

With this Dear Colleague Letter (DCL), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) seeks to stimulate and encourage the use and reuse of data from environmental time series research to improve generalizable understanding in fields including (but not limited to) ecology, organismal evolution/adaptation, geoscience, and oceanography.

The collection and comparison of long-term environmental measurements are critical to generate an integrated understanding of how ecosystem components interact, test ecological and evolutionary theories, and support the development and testing of ecological models. To advance the understanding of long-term dynamics of populations, communities, and ecosystems, NSF has made substantial investments in the collection and archiving of long-term data. Projects like Hawaii Ocean Time-series (HOT), Arctic Observing Network (AON), Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study (BATS), Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI), Centers for Transformative Environmental Monitoring Programs (CTEMPs), Critical Zone research (CZ), National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON), Long-Term Research in Environmental Biology (LTREB), and Long-term Ecological Research (LTER) sites collect environmental data, make observations, test hypotheses, and in some cases conduct experiments, but few resources are dedicated to accomplishing larger-scale synthesis.

Data collected by long-term projects are often multidisciplinary (including biology, chemistry, geology, and other fields of study) and may cover broad spatial scales in addition to an extended temporal aspect. These data are valuable because they can be used to explore regional, continental, and global scale questions regarding environmental and ecological processes. While all resulting data are publicly accessible, differences in how they are recorded, reported, and accessed, mean significant time and training may need to be invested to harmonize the data for use.

GOALS OF THE DCL

  • Synthesize, compare, and/or combine long- and short-term datasets to advance understanding of ecosystem and environmental dynamics, ecology, and evolution;
  • Conduct new modeling activities, including ecological or environmental forecasting;
  • Increase the interoperability of data sets that are available from public repositories/databases such as the Community Surface Dynamics Modeling System (CSDMS), the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science (CUAHSI), National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON), Biological & Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO), United States Antarctic Program Data Center (USAP-DC), Arctic Data Center, Environmental Data Initiative (EDI), EPA Environmental Dataset Gateway (EDG), Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI), DataONE, and the Paleobiology Database;
  • Propose workshops for both researchers and data scientists on accessing and using long-term data sets, with dissemination of the products to the scientific community (e.g., ESIIL).

NSF seeks to support diverse teams of investigators and institutions in the scientific activities that it funds. Submissions that benefit and involve the full breadth of the research community, including undergraduates, graduate students, postgraduates, and faculty at all institutions of higher education are encouraged.

Programs within the following NSF divisions/offices welcome submission of proposals responsive to this DCL. See the "How to Respond to this DCL" section for additional guidance on identifying a program.

Directorate for Biological Sciences

  • Division of Environmental Biology
  • Division of Integrative and Organismal Systems

Directorate for Geosciences

  • Division of Earth Sciences
  • Division of Ocean Sciences
  • Office of Polar Programs

HOW TO RESPOND TO THIS DCL

Principal Investigators should contact program officers in the participating areas of NSF listed above about the suitability of submission to an individual program in response to this DCL, and to discuss the scope and size of potential proposals.

Proposals should follow the guidelines, deadlines (if any), budget limitations (if any), and solicitation-specific criteria of the relevant NSF program(s), once identified. Awards for projects responsive to this DCL will be funded through the relevant NSF program(s).

The proposal title should begin with "ULTRA-Data:" after any NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) and/or solicitation-specific title requirements, if applicable. At the end of the Overview section of the Project Summary, include a sentence indicating that the proposal is being submitted in response to this DCL. Proposals that fail to address the objectives and guidance described in this DCL and in the relevant funding opportunity will be returned without review.

NSF is broadly interested in enabling discovery through the use and reuse of existing resources with untapped potential. Proposals responsive to this DCL should be primarily focused on utilizing data from environmental time series. Proposals primarily focused on innovative use of physical specimens and of metadata tracing back to physical specimens may be appropriate for the Innovative Use of Scientific Collections DCL ( NSF 24-069 ), and we encourage PIs to consider that document.

Questions should be directed to program directors in the relevant NSF research program(s); not the signatories to this DCL.

Susan Marqusee, Assistant Director Directorate for Biological Sciences

Alexandra Isern, Assistant Director Directorate for Geosciences
