Plan B Review
What's Behind
KV.Rajamahi's Plan B generated interest with the teaser and trailer loaded with thrilling elements. The film is releasing today and let us see what Plan B got in store for the people.
Story Review
Following the shocking murders of Lawyer Vishwanath (Srinivas Reddy) and retired police officer Rajendra (TV actor Rajendra) in a mysterious manner, ACP Vikramaditya (Murali Sharma) directs Inspector Vishrudh(Ravi Prakash) to investigate and solve the case. In what way Rajendra's daughter Avantika (Dimple), her boyfriend Gautam(Surya Vasishth), Saddam( Kunal Sharma) are related to these murders forms the story of Plan B.
Artists, Technicians Review
Director Rajamahi came with a thriller to capture the imagination of movie lovers. He came with an interesting story and included numerous twists. He started the proceedings increasing curiosity but in his bid to create more interest, he included more twists and this resulted in little confusion. At times he missed many logics and the investigation looked predictable and routine.
It also did not augur well with ACP level officer running to the crime spot all the time instead of directing his team. The story of the director is good and the screenplay and direction are interesting to some extent. The Interval block is good but the second half drags a bit with repetitive scenes and routine elements. The film's climax surprises all but the pre-climax turns out to be routine with the flashback scenes.
Surya Vasishta performed well in his role. For a debutante, he came with a good performance, and little finetuning will do him a world of good. Murali Sharma is good and Ravi Prakash got a meaty role. He did well in his role. Dimple, Kunal Sharma, and others are ok in their roles.
Venkat Gangadhari 's camera angles are good. He used the lighting and other things to give a new feel to the murder mystery. Shakti Kanth Karthik's background music elevated the proceedings. The editing of Avula Ramesh is ok but could have been crispy. Production values are good.

Rating Analysis
KV.Rajamahi on debut came with a thriller Plan B. Rajamahi who earlier worked with Krishnavamsi and Raghavendra Rao used his experience to come with an interesting story. A little bit of finetuning to the script and screenplay would have powered Plan B to another level. CJ observing these points goes with a 2.25 rating for Plan B .

Plan A Plan B movie review: The Riteish Deshmukh, Tamannaah Bhatia starrer is tepid and flat
Plan a plan b movie review: i had hopes that there would be some zest to the proceedings, given the director has given us the delightful ‘khubsoorat’ and ‘veere di wedding’. but as soon as the attraction-despite-everything arc begins, the film turns decisively tepid and flat..
Plan A Plan B movie cast: Riteish Deshmukh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Poonam Dhillon, Kusha Kapila Plan A Plan B movie director: Shashanka Ghosh Plan A Plan B movie rating: One and a half stars
An uptight lawyer specialising in divorce, and a match-maker with a broken heart is a combo which spells rom com heaven. It’s the chalk and cheese principle. He is suited-booted, his beard is neatly combed, and his shirts buttoned down. He needs everything to be aligned neatly. She is still grieving for a lost love, uses ice cream as a panacea for all ills, and appears in carefully tousled hair-and-attire which must have taken a stylist hours to put together. They just happen to have co-working spaces right next to each other, and sparks fly.
Correction. That’s what should have happened. But neither Riteish Deshmukh , who has proved he has fine comedic bones many times over, nor Tamannaah Bhatia who is capable of being expressive, display any discernible chemistry: the camera very decorously gives us the backs of their heads when they finally get down to canoodling, leaving us wondering: did they really kiss?
It begins with Kaustubh Chougule (Deshmukh), aka Kosty, aka Caustic giving a lecture to a couple on the brink. She is from the North, he is from the South, and that’s enough reason for our Kosty to enumerate the difference between Bhangra and Bharatnatyam, ghee and coconut oil, and ‘pongal’ and ‘dangal’. Eh?
Meanwhile, Nirali Vora (Bhatia), who runs a matrimonial venture with her mum (Dhillon), is all for cementing cracks between warring couples, and has nothing but contempt for Kosty’s mantra for marriage, which he terms as ‘bedroom se boredom ka safar’. In turn, he scoffs at her ‘Matchmaking In The Time Of Tinder’ enterprise: why marry when you can just do it?
Some effort has been put into the bits where the two snarl at each other: you catch sight of the seminal volume ‘Passionate Marriage’, and you know that someone has had the right idea. I had hopes that there would be some zest to the proceedings, given the director has given us the delightful ‘Khubsoorat’ and ‘Veere Di Wedding’. But as soon as the attraction-despite-everything arc begins, the film turns decisively tepid and flat, and the risible dialogues that one was ignoring up until then, start becoming troublesome. When was the last time you heard the word ‘rakhail’ in jest? Not funny.

Plan B Reviews
Plan B offers the counterpoint that this genre of film can live on, but that it maybe just needs some new perspectives through which these stories are being told.
Full Review | Original Score: 2.5/4 | Sep 22, 2022
Plan B works because it is able to organize a fun genre romp around a narrative structure that directly reflects the consequences of how we treat reproductive rights in this country. It’s a delicate balance, but one that works.
Full Review | Jun 24, 2022
Plan B shows us that the war over women's reproductive rights doesn't have a single, sweeping battlefield. It's a cold war in which one group gradually takes away women's agency and limits the decisions they can make about their bodies.

The "Pair of teen girls go on a road trip to obtain an abortion or birth control" is now a subgenre unto itself, so we must rely on the wit of the screenplay and the charm of the leads to get us by. Luckily, both are great here.
Full Review | Sep 17, 2021
With honest, empathetic storytelling and endearing performances from a talented young cast, Plan B is a raucous coming-of-age road trip adventure that has tremendous energy and a massive heart.
Full Review | Aug 21, 2021
An authentic representation of being a young woman in this society. It advocates for female reproductive rights in a contemporary manner. It's funny, moving, and highlights various themes like friendship, self-acceptance, and familial relationship.
Full Review | Original Score: 4.5/5 | Jul 24, 2021
The characters are complex, the story engaging, and the trip is like the road trip from hell sans stalky serial killer.
Full Review | Jul 2, 2021
While Sunny and Lupe may have their typical teen girl insecurities, they're for the most part cheerful relatable characters who use modern buzz words they don't totally understand to try and make sense of a world to which they're still trying to adapt.

A fun and provocative film at times, always frank and honest. [Full Review in Spanish]

Fans of Booksmart, Blockers, and Unpregnant will find much to like here. But while the movie touches each of those films in some way, it also crafts a voice and narrative of its own.
Full Review | Jun 18, 2021
Director Natalie Morales shapes Plan B's subtle politics into a badge of pride in a film that is funny, smart, and willing to get comfortably uncomfortable with its complicated subjects.
Full Review | Jun 17, 2021
Like 'Booksmart' it's front and center to teenage girls; good, largely funny and pacey with lots of heart. There's five good jokes in the credit sequence alone.
Full Review | Original Score: 2.5/4 | Jun 11, 2021
Along the way, a friendship is tested; secrets are revealed; and - in a sweet touch, unusual for the genre - relationships with parents are strained but emerge strong. Stronger even than the Indian Mafia.
Full Review | Original Score: 8.5/10 | Jun 8, 2021
While its tone is radically different from that of 'Never Rarely,' Plan B has political points to make, without ever feeling like a smug lecture.
Full Review | Original Score: 4/5 | Jun 7, 2021
Plan B is a bit of an odd duck, in that it has such clear intent to buck the lighthearted conventions of the genre ... yet adheres to so many of those same conventions throughout.
Full Review | Jun 6, 2021
[I]ntroduces real-world concerns into its comedy without ever losing sight of the reason we're here - to laugh...With some great gags and a dynamic duo at its center, Plan B should be your Plan A.
Full Review | Original Score: 4/5 | Jun 4, 2021
A funny and likable girl buddy comedy.
Full Review | Original Score: B | Jun 4, 2021
It was funny with great performances, smart writing, and whip-smart direction by Natalie Morales.
Full Review | Jun 3, 2021
The movie does ... take seriously the issue of barriers to access of contraception and reproductive care-it's joked about, but it's not played as a joke.
This edgy comedy has a lot of teen appeal, but also a lot of mature content.

Raunchy teen comedies can only be as sincere and big as the size and nature of the heart they dare to wear on their sleeves. Sure, its sex-centric jokes can be hilarious, but can you imagine loving “ Superbad ” without the disarmingly sweet friendship of Jonah Hill ’s Seth and Michael Cera ’s Evan at the film’s core? It’s exactly because of that bromance that deepens and struggles over the course of a booze-soaked night where “I love you man”s and nose-boops get exchanged, that we affectionately adore that movie. Natalie Morales ’ “Plan B” seems to agree, as it is the same spirit the actor-turned-director revives in her feisty and hilariously foul-mouthed debut feature. Here, we follow two high-school-aged girlfriends, a sharp, witty, motor-mouth pair with enviable platonic chemistry and harmony, on an overnight road-trip as they seek an emergency solve to a probable accidental pregnancy within South Dakota’s conservatively anti-choice confines.
In that regard, Morales’ movie walks in the footsteps of various recent female-centric pictures—the top-shelf studio comedy “ Blockers ” with a fiercely sex-positive message, the delightfully vigorous “ Booksmart ” and to a degree, even the devastating “Never Rarely Sometimes Always” with its fearless plunge into America’s shameful anti-abortion leanings. And it does so with such energy and singularity, thanks in large part to the leading duo—two undeniable stars-in-the-making. One is the exceptional Kuhoo Verma , whom you might recall from her brief yet memorable scene in “ The Big Sick ” as an arranged match to Kumail Nanjiani . (“The truth is out there!”) She plays the straight-laced Sunny, whose hobbies include masturbating to male bodies in her anatomy book and trying to live up to the high expectations of her successful mom while steering clear of her culture’s prying eyes that she calls “The Indian Mafia.”
Her flaky bestie Lupe is played by the peerlessly charismatic Victoria Moroles (“Teen Wolf”), who is the exact opposite of Sunny in every way—she recklessly vapes, purposely aggravates her traditional single dad with her rebellious clothing choices, and doesn’t care all that much about schoolwork. We get introduced to the duo in a “Thelma & Louise” style parallel montage, scored to “Every 1’s A Winner” by Hot Chocolate (perhaps just to throw in a “ Frances Ha ” reference in there in solidarity with female friendship movies) and get to understand just how dissimilar they are. Still, as soon as they come together in school corridors, there's a palpable bond between these two misfits, which they seem to have sealed against the squarely popular kids and customary meanies of their class.
But when Sunny’s mom goes out of town, the girls decide to throw a party for all anyway, just to have an excuse to invite their crushes over. Sunny’s is called Hunter, played adorably by Michael Provost who perfectly personifies a high-school jock, but one with depth and smarts. When her plan to seduce him goes off the rails, Sunny throws herself into the arms of the amicably well-meaning religious recluse Kyle ( Mason Cook ) as a misjudged consolation, a spur-of-the-moment miscalculation that necessitates the morning-after pill. But with the town’s pharmacist refusing to sell it to them (using the state’s maddening “conscience clause” as a justification), the girls hit the road to the nearest Planned Parenthood.
Their trip predictably presents various speed bumps and potholes, but Morales and droll screenwriters Joshua Levy and Prathiksha Srinivasan refuse to slow their ride down, even when they overindulge in conflicts and certain superfluous detours. But through it all, the film’s tenderness and adventurous soul remains in tact, with Morales honoring both female friendships and the individuals that generously gift their own meaning, reality and character to a lasting womanly relationship. In that, it's simply a joy to laugh alongside Sunny and Lupe, as it is to witness their growth into their cultural and sexual identities with a little loving help from each other and their supportive families. While “Plan B” is not a perfect teen movie, it's one with a defiantly good heart and a vibrant, colorful atmosphere crafted by a talented director. On those grounds alone, this is a ride worth hopping on.

Thittam Irandu Review: Aishwarya Rajesh Helps Plan B Along With Focused Lead Performance
Thittam irandu review: director vignesh karthick does a fair job of upending genre rules. the little that this thriller with a social conscience delivers isn't negligible..
Thittam Irandu Review: Aishwarya Rajesh in a still from Plan B (courtesy YouTube)
Cast: Aishwarya Rajesh
Director: Vignesh Karthick
Rating: 2.5 stars (out of 5)
Vignesh Karthick's Thittam Irandu ( Plan B ) recasts the police procedural as a commentary on how a conservative society impinges upon the personal choices and emotional responses of victims of entrenched prejudices. The unusual tangent gives the Tamil film a startling, if not entirely convincing, climactic turn that separates it from conventional murder mysteries.
While seeking to delivers its complement of thrills, Thittam Irandu , streaming on SonyLIV, examines the consequences of insensitive parenting, the fear of honour killing and the long-term fallout of a hasty marriage.
Thittam Irandu is an intriguing film, if nothing else. It is another matter that the writing falters frequently, robs as much as three quarters of the thriller of the ability to spring genuine surprises. Yet, its late incursion into desire, dysphoria, desperate measures and the need for obliteration of self as a step towards "new beginnings" sets the film apart.
Aishwarya Rajesh's unwaveringly focused lead performance, which taps a wide range of emotions stemming as much from the blossoming of love as from the call of duty, and as much from the dangers her character courts as from the steely determination she exudes, ensures that the film's rough edges are smoothened out to a certain extent.
Thittam Irandu opens with a rainy-night prelude. An armed man - his face hidden under a helmet - limps towards a house with murderous intent. No prizes for guessing, this dangerous intruder is going to return to the thick of the action on a number of occasions as the film back-pedals to a facile back story.
It is the last day of the year. A 25-year-old Inspector, Athira (Aishwarya), who has been transferred to Chennai, is on a sleeper bus one her way to her new posting. She meets a male co-passenger (Subash Selvam). Athira falls for the stranger even though she doesn't even know his name.
The sociable young man - he is a small-time actor - disembarks without bidding goodbye. But he does leave a small handwritten note simply signed "L-9" (the number of his bus seat), wishing Athira a Happy New Year. The young policewoman's growing interest in the enigmatic co-traveller is fuelled by a heightened sense of intrigue.
In Chennai, one of the first cases that Inspector Athira has to deal with involves the disappearance of Deepa Surya (Ananya Ramprasad), a childhood friend she lost touch with after the latter wed a well-to-do doctor and drifted away.
The missing lady's husband, Kishore (Gokul Anand), looms into the frame. He is the man who alerts Athira but his involvement in the crime cannot be ruled out. A charred body is soon discovered from a mangled car. For a shocked Athira, unearthing the truth assumes the dimensions of a personal mission.
It is apparent why she is so keen to solve the case. Her friendship with Surya goes back to the time they were little girls growing up in a small town. Under pressure from her orthodox family, Surya weds early. Athira joins the police force.
But that does not stop Athira's mom from constantly pestering her with photographs of potential husbands that she picks for her daughter from matrimonial sites. And then the chance meeting with the bus passenger gives Athira a pretext to ask her mother to stop fretting over finding a match for her.
One thing leads to another and Athira realises what she has on her hands isn't an open and shut case. As she peels the layers of mystery surrounding her friend's baffling disappearance, she finds herself sliding into dead-ends and traps. There is much more to the Deepa Surya case than she and her colleagues can comprehend.
There is enough mystery in the story to sustain Thittam Irandu until the very end, where, as has already been emphasised, the film springs a massive surprise. But the process or, to be precise, the set of processes that it employs as it wends its way to the climax, isn't particularly exhilarating.
The film has none of the dark and gritty overtones that one expects from a suspenseful thriller. This lacuna isn't, however, for want of trying.
Director of photography Gokul Benoy does all he can to lend the film an air of dread and foreboding, especially in the night scenes in which heinous deeds are contemplated and executed.
Thittam Irandu neatly compartmentalises itself to allow for a policewoman's investigation and a director's eventual purpose to run parallel to each other until it is time for the two strands to converge and overlap. Just a little more depth and a certain angularity (and perhaps some ambiguity) with regard to the big final reveal would have done the trick and prevented the film from ending on a pompously declamatory note.
Thittam Irandu opts for overly simplistic methods to deal with highly tangled issues. One character is incensed because somebody spurned his love when he was a college student. Another key figure's obsession with her object of desire is accentuated by severe personal misgivings.
The inspector's home (it isn't a cramped government flat) has the feel of a designer abode - a place perfectly suited for a candlelight dinner that culminates in a soft-focus kiss. The coy smooch and the manner in which it is filmed takes much away from the love affair at the centre of Thittam Irandu . Shouldn't the lip-lock have been far less hesitant, if not more expressive?
Be that as it may, director Vignesh Karthick does a fair job of upending genre rules. The police inspector is a determined woman in uniform but she certainly isn't your average action heroine. A chase and a single gunshot at a fleeing man are all she is allowed. The rest of the drama of her life plays out either in quieter settings or in the recesses of her mind.

Aishwarya Rajesh, alive to the subtle shifts that a role such as this demands, helps the film along with her precise articulation of the cop's inner turmoil. Unfortunately, while it may seem that there is a great deal to unpack in Thittam Irandu , it isn't until its final act that the film comes up with the promised Plan B.
A case of too little too late? Well, the little that this thriller with a social conscience delivers isn't negligible.

Plan B: Directed by K.V. Rahamahi. With Srinivas Reddy, Murli Sharma, Dayanand Reddy, Kunal Sharma. The story begins with the demise of a lawyer named Vishwanath and travels through multiple twists, suspense and turns without leaving a single clue for the police to find.
On the whole, Plan B has an okay premise but is completely spoilt with a confusing narration. Though a few thrills are good, the logic goes for a toss and makes this film a confusing and botched-up thriller.

Pointed as the message of Plan B is, nothing supersedes just letting these two characters — traditionally bit players at best in high-school comedies — be themselves.
