Essay a Scene at Railway Station in English class 10

Man has never been contented with the natural way he is able to walk or run because he thinks that this is only a limited ability that can never keep pace with his ever-increasing demand for quick mobility. That is the reason he has been attempting to devise various ways of upgrading his capacity to move quickly through significant distances. He came up with the wheel in an effort to accomplish this, which changed the way life on Earth works in general. Another miraculous development in this regard is the British’s development of the railroad and locomotive. In order for the trains to connect the various towns and villages along the route, a rail track was laid. At locations known as railway stations, the train, pulled by its powerful engine, would make a brief stop for the passengers.

“The railway station is a place which presents a blend of feelings of sorrow and joys.” (Quotation)

essay a scene at railway station with quotations

During the last few days, I also happened to visit the Lahore Railway Station in order to receive my friend who was coming from Karachi by ‘The Shalimar’. The train was due at 10:00 p.m. and I reached the respective platform at 9:50 p.m. in a jubilant mood as my friend was coming to me for at least after two years. I was quite eager and curious to see him and observe the physical changes that might have taken place in his personality. There was a great hustle and bustle all over the platform. Men, women, and children have thronged the place. Passengers who wanted to travel to different destinations were buying tickets and many were waiting for their respective trains while standing along with their luggage.

“A railway station obviously has typical scenes.” (Quotation)

There were a number of vendors and hawkers doing a roaring trade. They were selling meals, fruits, books, magazines, souvenirs, knick-knacks, etc. with an appreciable zeal and zest. The brightly lit colorful stalls and carts at different points attract the passengers who visit them quite frequently. Many people were roaming around looking at the colorful ads with their wistful eyes twinkling brightly at different attractions. There were few who could be seen worrying about the journey.

“The prospect of a long arduous journey ahead worries the passengers.” (Quotation)

Essay On “Scene At The Railway Station” In English With Quotations

The smart stationmaster along with his efficient staff was moving about hurriedly because the rain was about to come shortly. The posters were looking for some good, handsome business and so were moving about in agility. I saw a few persons reading magazines, novels, newspapers, and other things of this sort sitting on the waiting bench. Some passengers were offering their prayers in one corner of the platform, neglecting the whole clamor all around. I got very much impressed by their preoccupation and appreciated them a lot in my heart.

In the meanwhile, a loud noise of ‘train’, ‘train’ came from the platform and everything got in full swing in the wink of an eye. There was a strange atmosphere that made everyone to be in a hurry which was beyond all senses. The passengers alighting from or getting into the train were set against each other in a thorough quarrelsome mood. They were pushing one another just for nothing and the overall result was zero. Nobody was willing to wait for this train and do the courtesy to his fellow beings. In addition to this, the potters were doing their own job by pushing the luggage in and out of the different compartments. While shouting at the vendors together with the frightful cries I was forced to think that we, as a nation, stand far behind the comity of a cultured nation.

Quotes for The scene at a railway station (Essay) class 10

I was so engaged in all this that I forgot my friend at the moment and got shocked or startled when he called me loudly from inside the compartment. I rushed towards him and after a long struggle against various obstacles; I managed to get him outside the train. Both of us were thankful to Allah that after all we were safe and sound. This was truly a fun experience that shall always remain in my heart with all its specialties. It was just like a fair

A railway station is an interesting place. It is a human museum or a fair of human faces. Yesterday, I went to the Railway Station to see off my friend. We reached there half an hour earlier than the time arrival of the train. There were only a few persons in a queue before the booking office window. We bought tickets and went to the platform. There was a big crowd of people. The coolies were carrying luggage from one platform to another. Some passengers were looking in the direction of the incoming train.

All the waiting rooms were overcrowded. There were some passengers in the refreshment room. There was a great rush at the tea stalls at the refreshment the train reached in then everybody was hurrying. People were trying to get good capacity. People threw language through the windows. There was a great rush in and out. The hawkers were crying the names of their wares at the top of their voices. Watermen were supplying water to thirsty passengers. Porters were loading and unloading parcels from out of the parcel van. The whole station staff was busy.

Luckily, my friend got a comfortable seat in the second-class compartment. The guard whistled and waved the green flag. The train moved on. People on the platform left the place one by one. Now the noise and uproar were gone. I also took my way home. The platform looked like a deserted place. All its hustle and bustle was over in a few minutes.

There were some scenes of painful partings of parents seeing off their children going for distant destinations and some eager to met their nears and dears arriving after a long time. Soon there was a signal of the arrival of the train. There was a lot of commotion. Everybody began to move, catch hold of his luggage and making way towards their respective compartments. Some began to negotiate with the  TTE’s to confirm their unconfirmed seats. Most of them seemed dejected. In no, the whole crowd seemed to dwindle away leaving the whole platform almost deserted. I said goodbye to my father and sister and the train moved. Everyone around was seen waving hands for their departing nears and dears. It was really a sight to see. I also came out and headed towards my home.

I learned that the train was late by one hour. I had come in a hurry and hadn’t taken my breakfast. So, I took my breakfast there at the platform.

Many porters can be seen on the platform. They wear red coloured dresses. They carry the luggage of the people on their heads from one platform to another and from train to their vehicles outside the railway Station

Loudspeakers inside the railway station announce the arrival and the departure of trains. They inform the waiting passengers about the number of the platform on which the trains would come.

A part of the railway station consists of the booking offices. People queue up in front of the booking windows to buy tickets and to get the reservation done. There are also many information counters from where the information about the trains can be obtained

As the trains come on to the platform, there is a great hustle and bustle everywhere. People rush to get inside their compartments. They push and jostle each other. The time for departure comes. Dear ones and friends are off their relatives by waving their hands The train moves only when the guard gives the whistle and waves a green flag or green light.

A Scene at Railway Station ( 150 Words )

There is total confusion and disorder at a railway station. The is true of big railway stations only. Last Sunday I went to the city Railway station to see my aunt off. The platform was overcrowded. There was noise and commotions everywhere. The waiting hall was crowded with all sorts of passengers. There was a long queue in front of the booking window. I bought the ticket and came off. At the platform, a large number of passengers are waiting for the train. Some of them are sitting on the benches. There were many stalls on the platform like tea stall, snack stall, bookstall etc. Small children were running here and there. Coolies in red dress were going to and fro. Passengers were taking tea. Some were reading newspapers. They were waiting for the train. Soon the train came. There was a great rush at the doors of compartments. Many passengers got down and many more got in. My aunt got a seat near the window. The engine whistled and the train began to move. We returned home.

A railway station is more than just a hub for trains; it is a dynamic microcosm of life, a place where diverse stories intersect and journeys commence. The sights, sounds, and activities at a railway station create a unique atmosphere that encapsulates the essence of travel and connectivity. In this essay, we will explore the bustling world of a railway station, where the rhythmic chug of engines and the symphony of human interactions create a vibrant tapestry.

The Arrival

As one approaches a railway station, the first impressions are often of a bustling crowd, a myriad of sounds, and the rhythmic hum of trains arriving and departing. The station becomes a hive of activity, with passengers scurrying to and fro, vendors setting up their stalls, and the distinctive whistle of approaching trains signaling the start of a new journey.

Diversity in Motion

Railway stations are melting pots of diversity, where people from different walks of life converge for a common purpose – to travel. Commuters, tourists, families, and solo travelers all share the platform, creating a rich mosaic of cultures, languages, and backgrounds. The station serves as a testament to the universal desire for movement and exploration.

Vendors and Stalls

The array of vendors and stalls at a railway station adds to its vibrant character. From tea and snacks to newspapers and souvenirs, these vendors cater to the diverse needs of passengers. The aroma of freshly brewed tea mingles with the scent of local delicacies, creating a sensory experience that is an integral part of the station’s charm.

Waiting Rooms and Platforms

The waiting rooms and platforms are where the anticipation and excitement of travel unfold. Passengers huddle on benches, engage in conversations, or immerse themselves in books and gadgets. The platforms, marked by the distinctive yellow lines, become transient stages where reunions, farewells, and chance encounters take place.

The Enigmatic Train Departure

The departure of a train is a spectacle in itself. The announcement of the train’s arrival, the rush of passengers toward the platform, and the orchestrated movement of people boarding the train create a symphony of organized chaos. The gradual acceleration of the train and the fading echoes of the platform create a poignant moment of departure.

The Stationmaster’s Domain

Behind the scenes, the stationmaster orchestrates the complex ballet of trains arriving and departing. Their domain includes control rooms, signal boxes, and the nerve center of the station. The stationmaster plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning and safety of train operations.

A railway station is not merely a transitory point for trains and passengers; it is a vibrant and dynamic space that encapsulates the essence of travel. The amalgamation of people, cultures, and emotions creates a unique atmosphere where stories begin and journeys unfold. The hustle and bustle of a railway station are symbolic of the perpetual motion of life and the interconnectedness of our diverse world.

As I stood on the crowded platform of the railway station, I was struck by the hustle and bustle of the scene before me. People of all ages and backgrounds were rushing to catch their trains, carrying luggage and packages of all shapes and sizes.

The platform was crowded with passengers and their families, vendors selling snacks and drinks, and porters carrying luggage. The air was filled with the sounds of people talking, vendors calling out their wares, and announcements over the loudspeaker.

I watched as a train pulled into the station, its whistle blowing loudly. The passengers on the platform rushed to board the train, pushing and shoving to get to their seats. The porters loaded the luggage into the compartments, and the vendors rushed to sell their last items to the passengers.

As the train pulled out of the station, I saw the faces of the passengers at the windows, some waving goodbye to their loved ones on the platform, others looking out at the passing scenery.

Amid the chaos, I also noticed the organized efficiency of the railway staff. The ticket collectors, the guards, and the station staff were all working together to ensure that the trains ran smoothly and on time.

As I continued to observe the scene at the railway station, I noticed a variety of people and their stories. Families were traveling together, with children running around and parents trying to keep them in check. There were businessmen and women, rushing to catch their trains to important meetings. There were also students, backpack slung over their shoulders, heading to their next destination.

I also saw people from different socio-economic backgrounds, from well-dressed businessmen to vendors selling snacks and drinks on the platform. It was a reminder of the diversity of people and their lives that come together at a railway station.

In addition to the people, I also observed the various facilities and services that the railway station offered. There were ticket counters, restrooms, and waiting areas for passengers. There were also food and drink vendors, and shops selling souvenirs and travel essentials.

The railway station was not only a transportation hub but also a place where people could find various services and amenities. It was a bustling center of activity and commerce.

The scene at the railway station was a microcosm of life, with its hustle and bustle, its chaos and order, and its comings and goings. It was a reminder of the constant movement and activity that is a part of our world.

In conclusion, the scene at the railway station was a fascinating and vibrant one, filled with people, stories, and activities. It was a reminder of the constant movement and activity that is a part of our world.

The scene at railway station.

Essay No. 01

My father along with my elder sister were going to Kanpur the other day to attend the marriage party of my cousin. I went to the railway station to see them off. It was a pleasing sight at the railway station.

Many taxis, cars, scooters, rickshaws, and tongas were parked outside the waiting hall. The waiting hall was full of passengers. There was a long queue of people at the booking window. People were buying their tickets one by one. The coolies were busy. They were carrying the luggage of the people to the platform or from platform to outside. My father bought a platform ticket for me. He hired a coolie to carry our luggage. We reached at the platform from where the train was to depart.

The railway platform was full of people. Rich and poor, young and old, women and children were seen thereof all hues. Everyone was waiting for the train to come. The railway stalls were doing brisk business. Cold drinks, tea, coffee, snacks, etc. were available everywhere. The coolies were carrying huge luggage of the passengers. Some were looking for the tickets. The police personnel was seen quite on alert. Frequently there were announcements about the timings of the trains, incoming and outgoing. There was a high danger of luggage being taken away or pockets being picked. Everybody stood guard to their belongings. Everybody was restless but some had occupied benches and places and were sleeping comfortably evidently waiting for the late trains. There were some scenes of painful partings of parents seeing off their children going for distant destinations and some eager to meet their nears and dears arriving after a long time. The waiting at the Railway Station seemed to pass off very fast while looking at all these things.

Soon there was a signal of the arrival of the train. There was a lot of commotion. Everybody began to move, catching hold of his luggage and making way towards their respective compartments. Some began to negotiate with the TTEs to confirm their unconfirmed seats. Most of them seemed dejected. In no time the whole crowd seemed to dwindle away leaving the whole platform almost deserted. I said goodbye to my father and sister and the train moved. Everyone around was seen waving hands for their departing nears and dears. It was really a sight to see. I also came out and headed towards my home.

The Scene at a Railway Station

A railway station in India is a very busy place. It is a center of great activity. The parking place, the huge entrance, and all the platforms are full of people. Men, women, and children of all ages, colours, religions, and states can be seen here, walking, running, standing, sitting, talking, or looking harassed. They are either waiting to board a train or are alighting from one, or they have either seen off somebody or are about to do so. Some have come to buy tickets and some to cancel their reservations.

Red-coated porters move around, balancing luggage on their heads and haggling with the passengers. To add to the confusion vendors, walk up and down shouting loudly, trying to sell all kinds of things — locks with chains, books and magazines, cheap ornaments, sweets and savories, and, of course, tea which at railway stations is quite welcome.

However, as soon as the train’s whistle is heard, everyone starts moving. When the train screeches to a halt, there is complete chaos as passengers rush to get into their various compartments.

Being at a railway station is great fun and a really good experience as we meet all kinds of people and learn a few things.

Essay No. 03

The scene at the Railway Platform

A railway platform is a place full of excitement and attention-catching. Here we come across all kinds of people—the rich and the poor, the educated, the illiterate, the young and the old-all waiting for the train.

On the railway station, we can see people running to and fro from one platform to another or checking up the arrival or departure of the trains while some can be seen at the ticket counters, bookstalls, or at the eatable joints. There is always a large crowd on the platform, and the people can be seen reading newspapers or studying train schedules or maps. A few can be seen pacing up and down the platform. At some places, one can hear the cries of the children, while some can be seen troubling their parents. One can also see ladies, children, and men sitting on their luggage due to the lack of seats.

Sometimes certain passengers can be seen quarreling with coolies over the charges while passengers can also be seen cracking jokes to pass their time.

When the train is departing passengers can be seen jostling and elbowing each other to board the train. At the same time, passengers can be seen sipping tea at tea stalls or buying magazines. While some children cling to their parents in the rush and some try to locate their kith and kin.

After short intervals, the announcements from the loudspeaker about the train schedule for arrival or departure can be heard, which diverts the passenger’s attention from their activities.

Indeed with so many characters and activities, the railway platform appears like a colorful stage.

Essay No. 04

The scene at the Railway Station

A railway station is a place where trains come and go for different stations. The trains alight and take up passengers from this spot. The normal station in a township is situated at a focal point covering five to ten villages or a few nearby townships.

A few rooms a verandah on both sides-a gate entry and platforms on the edges of the railway track. The bridge helps to cross the lines and toilets on the last corner. These are some of the infrastructures constructed by railway authorities. The important compartments are the railway booking office, cloakroom, station master’s office, signal room, ticket collector’s room, and waiting rooms for upper classes. The entry platform has tea stalls, bookstalls, and a few shops for cold drinks, fruits, and children’s toys. Some push-carriages are moving hurriedly on the platforms. Many vendors are sailing different eatables like bread pakoras, biscuits, packaged foods, and other things.

Then the scene turns over as the assistant station master receives a signal for train arrival. A helper in a dark blue shirt rings the bell. This changes the scene. The eatable carrier vendors start moving toward their point to sell products. In the same way, station porters in red shirts stand on the door points of the coaches. The train steams in and incoming passengers block the passage and passengers, who are to alight, find it difficult to alight. Goods is handed over through windows. There is cracking noise of vendors and the compartment children, who are struggling for going out. The tussle continues and then some travellers move to have a stroll on the platform. They find it difficult and, thus sit back on their seats and try to get eatables on the seat itself.

The train waits for the next train which is arriving from the opposite side. Group vendors curtail some of them by shifting to the other platform. They perhaps assess that the remaining few customers can be looked after by a few fix shops or big trolley vendors. Red-shirt coolies also shift their waiting spot to the next train.
