Do you want to add music or audio to your Google Slides slideshow? Whether you want gentle background music playing throughout your slideshow or just an outro to play as you get to the last slide, adding music or audio to Google Slides isn't difficult. Using the right music with your slideshow can also increase audience engagement and understanding. This wikiHow article teaches you how to add music to Google Slides.

Things You Should Know

  • Add music directly from your computer by going to "Insert > Audio" if you already have WAV or MP3 files in your Google Drive or local storage.
  • Link to a song with a streaming service (like SoundCloud, Apple Music, or Spotify) if you don't have a compatible file by adding a link to an image.
  • Alternatively, insert a YouTube video by going to "Insert > Video".

Step 1 Go to your slideshow in Google Slides.

  • Use this option if you have an audio file in the WAV or MP3 format on your computer or in Google Drive .
  • You can also convert YouTube videos to MP3 if you have permission, or convert other audio files to MP3s so they'll work with Google Slides.
  • If you don't have a music file, you can download download royalty-free music from a site like Jamendo or Free Music Archive .

Step 2 Click Insert.

  • You can also use this method to add a voiceover.

Step 4 Choose the settings for your audio.

  • Use this method to play a musical YouTube video in your presentation.

Step 2 Click Insert.

  • To continue, you'll need the URL for the video you want to add. To get the URL, go to the video on YouTube, highlight the URL in the address bar, then press Ctrl + C (PC) or Cmd + C (Mac) to copy it.

Step 3 Insert the YouTube URL.

  • Use the panel on the right side of your screen to make more changes, like making it play automatically.

Step 1 Go to your slideshow in Google Slides.

  • Use this method if the song you want to add to your presentation is on a streaming service like Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud, or Pandora.
  • When you add a streaming song to Google Slides, you'll need to click a link to open the player in the background. The song will continue playing until you close the streaming player.

Step 2 Click Insert.

  • Now that you have the link, you need something to click on once you start the slideshow that'll take you to that link. This can be text, an image, or any object in your presentation.

Step 4 Add text or an image for your link.

  • Click the image, then click the Insert tab.
  • Click Link at the bottom of the menu. Alternatively, press Ctrl + K (Windows) or Cmd + K (Mac) when the text or image is selected, and the window to add a link will open.
  • Press Ctrl + V (Windows) or Cmd + V (Mac) to paste the link from your clipboard. This is the link for the song using the streaming service you copied earlier.
  • Finally, click Apply .
  • When you start the slideshow, click the link to play the music in a separate web player. Click the Play icon or button in the web player to play the song and then return to your slideshow. If you ever want to pause or stop the music, go to the player and press the Stop or Pause icons.

5 ways to add music to PowerPoint

Depending on the type of slideshow you’re creating in Microsoft PowerPoint , music might be the perfect addition to the show. You may want a fun upbeat song on a slide or a soft subtle melody throughout the presentation.

Upload a song from your computer

Download free music, record music while creating the slideshow, add an offscreen video, play the song or use as background music.

We’ll show you how to add music to PowerPoint a few different ways and then use a single song on a slide or play background music from start to finish.

What You Need

Microsoft PowerPoint

Probably the easiest way to add music to your slideshow is to upload a song from your computer. This can be a tune you’ve saved and listen to often or one from a playlist.

Step 1: Open your PowerPoint presentation and select a slide to add the music.

Step 2: Go to the Insert tab and choose the drop-down arrow for Audio on the right side of the ribbon.

  • How to print a PowerPoint presentation with notes
  • This PowerPoint ploy could help hackers empty your bank account

Step 3: Pick Audio on my PC , browse for the music file, and select Insert .

Step 4: You’ll then see an audio icon on your slide for the song.

Step 5: Use the Play button to listen and the Playback tab to adjust the playback options.

Maybe you have the type of song in mind you want, but don’t have a copy saved to your computer. There are a few online resources for obtaining royalty-free songs for presentations at no cost.

Fesliyan Studios Inc. : Choose a genre at the top such as commercial, happy, sad, or relaxing. Press the Play button to listen, then check out alternate versions where available. Choose Download to get the song.

Chosic : You’ll see a slew of songs for presentations from upbeat to soft. When you hear the song you want, select Download > Free Download .

SoundCloud : If you’re already a SoundCloud listener, this is a good option for presentation music. Type “free downloads” or similar into the search box and review the results. When you find the song you want, select More or the three dots to download the tune.

If you can find royalty-free music on YouTube as well, there are a number of ways to download MP3s from YouTube .

Once you download one of these songs, save it to your device and simply upload it to the slideshow as described above.

If you’re lucky enough to be gifted with musical talent, you can use your skills to record a song directly in PowerPoint. Warm up your vocal cords or grab your guitar and make your own presentation music.

Step 1: Open your PowerPoint presentation and select a slide to record the music.

Step 3: Pick Record audio . Note: You must have either a built-in or external microphone for your computer.

Step 4: When the Record Sound box appears, select the red, round Record button to start recording.

Step 5: Press the square Stop button when you finish. To listen to the recording, press the green Play button.

Step 6: When you finish, select OK to insert it onto the slide.

Step 7: You’ll then see the audio icon just like with an inserted audio file. Press the Play button to hear the recording.

Sometimes the ideal song for a situation is attached to a video. While you can’t currently just play the audio and you probably don’t want the video as part of your presentation, there’s a workaround to get that tune in your show.

Step 1: Open your PowerPoint presentation and select a slide to add the video.

Step 2: Go to the Insert tab and choose the drop-down arrow for Video on the right side of the ribbon.

Step 3: Pick This Device , Stock Videos , or Online Videos and follow the prompts to insert the video.

Step 4: When the video appears on the slide, drag a corner or edge to make it smaller and then drag it off of the slide to one of the sides.

This allows you to play the video to hear the audio but not see the video in your slideshow.

Step 5: Select the video and use the Playback tab to adjust the options for playing it when clicking the slide or automatically.

Once you add the music to PowerPoint, you can set it to play on a single slide or last the duration of the presentation.

Step 1: Go to the slide containing the music and select it.

Note: If you want the music to play in the background throughout the slideshow, you’ll likely want the file on the first or second slide per your preference.

Step 2: Head to the Playback tab and choose to play the song with the slide or as background music.

Step 3: To play the song only on that slide, choose the Start drop-down box in the Audio options section of the ribbon and pick how you want the music to begin. You can select In click sequence , Automatically , or When clicked on . When you advance to the next slide, the song stops playing.

Step 4: To play the song throughout the presentation, select Play in background in the Audio styles section. This automatically checks the boxes for Play across slides and Loop until stopped . You can also choose an option in the Start drop-down box for how to begin playing the song.

Keep in mind this only works with audio files, not the video file method described above.

Step 5: Adjust any other options on the Playback tab per your preference. You can increase or decrease the volume, rewind the song after it plays, or add a fade in or out effect.

Remember to practice your presentation after you add the music to make sure it sounds the way you want. You might also consider adding closed captioning for the hearing impaired.

What is presentation music?

What music is good for presentation, powerpoint music, how to download music for powerpoint, how to add music to a powerpoint presentation, how to make playing music across slides in powerpoint, where can i download free presentation music, can i use copyrighted music in my presentation.

Making the right impression is a powerful marketing tool; presenters sometimes use music to connect with the audience immediately. Presentation music comes in many different genres, but any type will be more effective if it is related to the topic of the presentation.

The music you choose for your presentation can do many things for your audience - it can lighten the mood, drive excitement, or even set a pace. The key is to choose the appropriate music for your presentation and have it play at an acceptable volume.

  • Confidence: Fresh Startup , Calm Tech
  • Focusing: Successful Company , Good Energy
  • Uplifting: Your Time Has Come , Positive And Uplifting
  • Relaxed: Keep Going Forward , Soothing Medicine

PowerPoint is one of the most widely used presentation tools. The music playing in the background helps make a presentation more fun than it would be without the music, but there's often confusion over how to set up the audio track properly.

There are two basic file types you'll need to know - MP3s and WAVs. An MP3 is a compressed copy of an audio track that can be downloaded quickly. A WAV, or Waveform Audio File, is a digital format that supports higher quality, uncompressed audio, meaning it takes longer to download.

Both formats work in PowerPoint, but your choice depends on the type of presentation and how much music you want to include. To download music you need to add liked tracks to the Shopping cart, proceed to checkout and complete your payment. Download music instantly from the My Music > Tracks page.

  • Select the slide you want to add music.
  • On the Insert tab, click the Audio button.
  • Select the option 'Audio on My PC..'
  • Find and select your music files and click the Insert button.
  • Now you can set up a volume level for music.
  • Click on a sound icon to enable the Audio Tools panel.
  • Set on the checkbox 'Play Across Slides' so the music will play continuously throughout your presentation.

You can download free presentation music from the Free music page. Use free music in your presentations, slideshows, and videos without copyright concerns.

You can't just take a popular hit and put it into your presentation. You need to right to use music in your production. Purchase and download royalty-free presentation music by Melody Loops to use in your PowerPoint or Keynote presentation.

How to choose the right background music for your business presentation

You’ve worked hard on your pitch deck. You’ve carefully chosen the right images, colors, and text that will hopefully get your investors interested. Whether you are sending your pitch deck or presenting in front of an audience, choosing the right background track will really make your presentation shine!

We have outlined three tips below to help you choose the track that will drive your pitch home and strike an emotional chord with investors.

1. Keep a Steady Pace

Choose a track that glides along without a lot of fanfare. A steady pace will draw your audience in and help them focus on the content of each slide. Choose music that is gentle, positive and bright, with some moments that pause, then continue the dynamic.

2. Tone is Important

Setting the right tone that relates to your idea will convey clarity and credibility to your audience. Whether the tone of your pitch is powerful and engaging or gentle and reassuring, the background music should match.

3. Make an Emotional Connection

When pitching your product to investors, let your passion shine through. Your pitch deck should have all of the elements of a great story. If your presentation has a kick-in-the-pants spirit, the right background music will accentuate that.

Choosing the Best Music for Corporate Event Presentations

Making a presentation in front of a corporate event audience can be daunting. How can you get your audience’s attention over the conversation and buzz? How do you really make an impact? One way is to add a background track to your slide presentation. If you are presenting a slide show at a business dinner, conference, or trade show, read on to find out how to choose the best background music.

1. Taking the Subtle Approach

Set the tone for the occasion by adding minimalist, even-toned music— more of a backdrop that your audience can focus their ears on. Subtle music exudes a calm atmosphere. The right track can be barely noticeable but will still affect the audience in subtle ways.

2. High Energy Approach

If your slide show has a high-energy, celebratory feel, choose tracks that engage your audience to feel that. Steady driving drums, danceable synth lines, and that dreamy backdrop give an air of brightness and positivity to your corporate presentation.

Mik TunePocket Composer

Hi, I’m Mik, one of TunePocket music composers. Presentations should not be boring! Adding music to educational or business talks and presentations can help to keep your audience focused, motivated, and, most importantly entertained!

I went though our growing catalog of professional royalty free music and picked some great examples.

important note about performance royalties

It may be tempting to use your favorite song as background music in your presentation.

Before you do that, please note that:

1. Using any copyrighted material requires explicit permission from the rights owner. Especially if you plan to use it commercially.

2. Playing commercial music in public may require a special public performance license. Learn more about using music for business .

If you like any music below you can easily license it and use it in your presentation.

The music below was created by composers who are not affiliated with a PRO (Performance Rights Organization) and you don’t need a separate performance license if you use that music in your presentation.

Background music for common types of presentations

Let’s see what music works best for different presentation types:

Business presentation

There are many types of business presentations, including motivational talks, training presentations, real estate, corporate, and many more.

When choosing music for business presentation, first of all, decide whether you want to create the calm professional background or you want music to take the leading role and deliver some sort of emotional impact.

Calm corporate style music will work best for formal work presentations, commercial real estate, and business training.

On the other hand, inspirational music will be great for presentations related on achievement, good results, awards, and similar topics.

Here are some examples of background music for professional business presentations:

Educational presentations

Educational presentations can include school presentations, lessons and tutorials, history, math, and lost of other topics. You can even make cooking presentations!

With educational presentations, the choice of music of music depends primarily on the subject and the content of your presentation.

Use reflective music for emotional or serious topics or positive or upbeat music to set a lighter mood.

For educational presentation or lessons related to history, cinematic or retro music should work the best.

For anything else, a subtle background soundtrack without a strong lead melody can be a good option.

Upbeat Clapping Stomp Beat Fascinating Particles Deep Space Travel Word Of Inspiration

Technology presentations

For presentations that focus on groundbreaking IT or science concepts, futuristic “hi-tech” music should work the best.

More background music for presentations

Of course there are many more types of presentations.

You may decide that your presentation is better off without any music!

In that case I can recommend using a short music clip either at the opening or the ending of your presentation.

Some of the good places to insert such audio clips include the presentation title, branding logos, sponsors list, or any other significant call to action in your presentation slides.

How to play music across multiple Powerpoint slides

Ok, so by now I hope you have a good idea as to what kind of music you should use in your presentation.

It’s relatively easy to add audio clips to individual Powerpoint presentation slides but what if you want the music to play continuously across multiple slides as you deliver your presentation?

Fortunately, you can add a song to a presentation and play it across slides in the background of your slide show.

Here’s a quick tutorial from Microsoft that explains how to play music across multiple slides in your Powerpoint presentation or a slideshow.

Do I always need music in my presentation?

In certain cases you may decide against using background music.

It is generally not recommended for content-heavy presentations, sensitive or serious topics, situations with language barriers or translation needs, or when the presenter has a soft speaking style.

Additionally, you should take into account your audience preferences and sensitivities, as some may find background music distracting or annoying.

In that case you still can add an audio dimension to your presentation by using occasional sound effects .

Whether you’re celebrating a victory, remembering a tough loss, or simply showcasing the team’s hard work and dedication, the right music can help bring your slideshow to life.

Now, let’s answer some common questions about using songs for sports slideshows:

1. Can I use any song in my sports slideshow?

It’s important to make sure you have the proper permissions to use any copyrighted music in your sports slideshow. Consider using royalty-free music or obtaining the necessary licenses to avoid any legal issues.

2. How can I add music to my sports slideshow?

Most slideshow software programs allow you to easily add music to your presentation. Simply import the songs you want to use and arrange them to play during the slideshow.

3. How many songs should I include in my sports slideshow?

The number of songs you include in your sports slideshow will depend on the length of the presentation and the pacing you want to achieve. Typically, 5-10 songs are a good range to aim for.

4. Can I use instrumental music in my sports slideshow?

Instrumental music can be a great choice for a sports slideshow, as it can help set the mood without distracting from the visuals. Consider using instrumental versions of popular songs or royalty-free music.

5. What if I can’t decide on a song for my sports slideshow?

If you’re having trouble choosing a song for your sports slideshow, consider asking team members for input or creating a playlist of options to listen to and see what resonates with you.

6. Should I match the song lyrics to the content of my sports slideshow?

While it’s not necessary to match the lyrics of a song to the content of your sports slideshow, choosing a song with a message that resonates with your team can help enhance the overall impact of the presentation.

7. Can I use a mix of different genres in my sports slideshow?

Mixing different genres of music in your sports slideshow can help keep the presentation dynamic and engaging. Consider using a mix of rock, pop, hip-hop, and other genres to appeal to a wide range of musical tastes.

8. How can I ensure the music is the right volume for my sports slideshow?

Before presenting your sports slideshow, make sure to test the volume levels to ensure the music is audible but not overpowering. You can adjust the volume settings in your slideshow software to achieve the desired balance.

9. Can I use live recordings of songs in my sports slideshow?

Using live recordings of songs in your sports slideshow can add a sense of energy and excitement to the presentation. Just make sure the quality of the recording is clear and the sound levels are consistent.

10. How can I create a seamless transition between songs in my sports slideshow?

To create a seamless transition between songs in your sports slideshow, consider using fade-ins and fade-outs to blend the music together smoothly. This can help maintain the flow of the presentation and keep the audience engaged.

11. Should I consider the tempo of a song when choosing music for my sports slideshow?

The tempo of a song can play a big role in setting the mood and pacing of your sports slideshow. Consider using faster songs for high-energy moments and slower songs for more reflective or emotional moments.

12. Can I use songs with explicit lyrics in my sports slideshow?

When choosing songs for your sports slideshow, it’s important to consider the audience and make sure the lyrics are appropriate for the occasion. Avoid using songs with explicit language or themes that may be offensive to some viewers.

16. How can I incorporate music into different sections of my sports slideshow?

Who is Bambie Thug? The Irish ‘goth gremlin’ leaving Eurovision fans ‘speechless’

Cork-born singer is the first irish delegate to make it through to the eurovision final since 2018, with fans hailing their dramatic staging and impressive vocal performance, article bookmarked.

Ireland’s 2024 Eurovision contestant Bambie Thug is undoubtedly one of the favourites of this year’s competition, winning over more fans after their astonishing performance at the first semi-final.

The Cork-born singer, real name Bambie Ray Robinson, was voted through following their rendition of original song “Doomsday Blue”, a thumping industrial-techno pop song that features dazzling, artistic staging.

Bambie, who goes by they/them/their pronouns, is therefore the first Irish contestant to make it through to a Eurovision final since 2018. They been praised for what many have dubbed a flawless performance that will assert them as one to beat.

They will be competing against singers including the UK’s Olly Alexander , Croatia’s Baby Lasagna and Ukraine’s Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil at the Malmö Arena in Sweden on 11 May.

Ireland’s Taoiseach Simon Harris hailed their achievement and said it was “time to bring the Eurovision back to Ireland”.

“Congratulations to Bambie Thug, who has qualified for the Eurovision final tonight,” he wrote on X/Twitter.

“Bambie will become the first Irish act in the Eurovision finals since 2018. It is time to bring the Eurovision back to Ireland and Bambie is the act to do it!”

Here’s everything you need to know about Bambie Thug ahead of the Eurovision 2024 final:

Who is Bambie Thug?

The self-described “goth gremlin goblin witch” and “Ouija-pop star” was born in Macroom, County Cork, to a Swedish father and Irish mother. Their aspirations for a career as an avant-garde pop artist began in their home town, they told the Irish Mail on Sunday, explaining that they spent “so much time in the field pretending I was in Lord of the Rings and talking to trees and making potions, and that was really lovely”.

Bambie initially trained as a ballerina, taking local classes before studying at Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa, then spending two years with the Cork City Ballet. “I loved Cork and I still love Cork,” Bambie told the publication, “but then I moved to London because I got a partial dance scholarship and musical theatre dance at the Urdang Academy in London, and so I moved over for that.”

They completed their degree before deciding to switch to a career in music, spending two years studying the art of writing pop songs and performing at open mics around London. After ditching a talent agency that apparently tried to turn them towards “bubblegum pop”, they began navigating their own career and “was lucky enough to meet people who really believed in the project”.

Before being chosen as the Irish delegate for Eurovision 2024, Bambie had been releasing music under their professional moniker for around three years, and had already attracted a devoted fanbase along with airplay on BBC Radio.

What have they said about their participation in Eurovision 2024?

Bambie has expressed their excitement about representing Ireland at Eurovision, explaining that it feels “really beautiful” to be appreciated at home.

“There’s something that makes my heart so warm about having the country see my art, my stuff, because this is what raised me,” they said. “This is my roots, this is the ground that birthed me and is the reason I write the way I do.”

However, Bambie has also not shied away from criticising Eurovision organisers for allowing Israel to participate, amid its ongoing war on Gaza. They have echoed calls to ban Israel from this year’s contest, telling the Irish Examiner: “When things were going on with Ukraine, Russia wasn’t allowed to enter, so I don’t think there should be a rule for one and a different for another.”

Bambie has also objected to censorship of any displays of pro-Palestine support, after they were allegedly asked to alter their pro-Palestinian message ahead of their performance at the first semi-final.

They told a press conference in Malmö that they were forced to change their body paint in Ogham script (an early Medieval alphabet), which translated to “ceasefire” and “freedom”, a nod to the situation in Gaza and amid Israel’s inclusion in the competition.

“It was very important for me because I’m pro justice and pro peace,” Bambie said. “Unfortunately, I had to change those messages today to ‘crown the witch’ only (which was an) order from the EBU.”

A spokeswoman for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said: “The writing seen on Bambie Thug’s body during dress rehearsals contravened contest rules that are designed to protect the non-political nature of the event.

“After discussions with the Irish delegation, they agreed to change the text for the live show.”

Organisers had previously warned that Palestinian flags and symbols would not be allowed in the Malmö Arena.

What about their song, “Doomsday Blue”?

“Doomsday Blue” was written by Bambie Thug with co-writers Cassyette, Sam Matlock and Tyler Rydr, and includes lyrics that reference witchcraft, casting spells, and other nods to the occult.

“It’s a much more mature performance,” Bambie has said of “Doomsday Blue”, in comparison to their earlier work. Interviewed by Rock Sound, they explained they put the song forward because “it met all the requirements”, as well as being “a bit boundary-pushing” in the way it melds different genres.

“They shouldn’t really work, but they do, and for me it’s a bit chaotic, it’s very theatrical,” they said, emphasising that they want to give Eurovision fans “a show”.

“Also, I had three minutes to showcase multiple singing styles and vocal ability that I can do, so I just was kind of like, this is the one.

“I think it’s got something there for everyone,” they continued. “There’s spoken word at the start, there’s a pop chorus then there’s a screamy part and there’s a soulful, almost croony middle-eight, and then there’s the electro-metal breakdown where I get to scream my lungs out. I’m just a show-off, basically!”

What have Eurovision fans said about their performance in the first semi-final?

Suffice to say, Eurovision fans are impressed. In the YouTube comments of Bambie’s semi-final performance, many declared their jaws were “on the floor” during the berserk rendition.

Some also pointed out how Bambie’s performance proved just how essential staging is, with the dramatic effects and elaborate costumes ramping up the drama.

“The production on this performance will win the contest alone,” one fan declared. “Huge credit to the lighting and visual engineers.”

“The performance was magnificent,” another fan wrote on X/Twitter after watching Bambie sing in the semi-final. “Now go and win it Bambie Thug.”

Another enthusiastic Bambie stan announced that “Doomsday Blue” was “the most original performance we EVER had in the whole history of Eurovision... I’m so f***ing speechless THIS NEEDS TO WIN.”

How can I watch Bambie Thug perform in the Eurovision 2024 final?

Bambie Thug will be competing in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 grand final on Saturday 11 May. You’ll be able to follow live coverage and updates via The Independent, and watch the contest live on BBC One.

Eurovision Song Contest 2024 live: UK receives nil points from the public vote

T he 2024 Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Malmo, Sweden this Saturday and the event is already making headlines for the music and the controversy surrounding the event.

This year's competition is taking place amid the devastating conflict between Palestine and Israel with the latter qualifying for the final amid protests outside the venue, which were attended by Greta Thunberg, and calls for boycotts.

Artists from Ireland and Sweden have been banned from making any pro-Palestine statements during their performances and fans have been told not to bring Palestinian flags to the show with organisers, the European Broadcasting Union, insisting that they want to make it 'non-political,' despite banning Russia from competing for the illegal invasion of Ukraine.

In further drama the Netherlands entry, singer Joost Klein has been disqualified from the competition following a backstage incident on Friday. Elsewhere several nations including Ireland reportedly missed the dress rehearsal but are still likely to perform during the live final.

Away from the controversy, the main thing most people across Europe will be tuning in for is the music and as always with Eurovision, there will be plenty of dancefloor bangers, soppy ballads and weirdness for purists to dig their teeth into.

Switzerland, France or Croatia will win...

Croatia lead, but we're waiting on Switzerland's points.

UK gets nil points from the public vote

Olly Alexander's "Dizzy" remains on 46 points, and is currently on the second column.

The UK won't be finishing last...

We're waiting on our public votes, but with the United Kingdom currently on 46 points and Norway getting single figure points from viewers, they finish on just 16.

Switzerland leads after the jury votes

After the jury votes, Switzerland's Nemo and their track "The Code" are up top with more than 360 points.

France is next with some 218 points, and then it's Croatia, Italy and Ukraine.

The UK currently stands in the first column, with 46 points.

But UK commentator Graham Norton has pointed out this can all change when we get the public votes.

No nil points this evening...

The country in last place after 26/37 countries is Estonia, but they still have four points.

Larry the Cat wades in...

The Downing Street resident (no, not that one) has spoken.

More than half of the way through the jury votes...

And Switzerland are in the lead with more than 180 points, followed by France, Italy, Ireland and Croatia in the top five.

Only two countries' juries have given us points so far...

We got four from Australia, and two from Spain.

There's still 19 jury votes still to be declared, though.

Labour MP jokingly calls for 'electoral reform' as UK jury gives top marks to Portugal

Labour and Co-operative MP Stella Creasy, the MP for Walthamstow, has joined many other UK viewers in disbelief that the country's jury awarded 12 points to Portugal's Iolanda, who performed her track "Grito".

"Really UK? 12 points to Portugal," queried one.

Another commented: "12 points from the UK to Portugal was as random as our entry."

It's 12 points to Portugal from the UK jury!

They're currently second.

We're into the jury votes now...

Public votes coming later, but we're working through the votes from industry professionals at the moment.

2/37 countries done, and nothing for the UK yet.

Loreen's taking to the stage..

And The Sun reports she may refuse to present the trophy to Israel if they win this evening, despite being legally contracted to both perform and hand over the award to the new champion.

The outlet quotes a source who said: "There is a plan in place for Loreen to step on stage, leave the trophy on a plinth and depart before the presenters welcome Israel to the stage, should they win the coveted title."

A quick reminder of the jury spokesperson role...

And we've been reminded of the jury spokesperson position just now, with a look back at previous memorable moments - such as Ukrainian artist Verka Serduchka, and Icelandic actor Óli ÁgĂșstsson demanding the hosts "play 'Jaja Ding Dong'" during the 2021 contest - a reference to the Netflix film about the event.

The spokesperson for the UK this year is actor Joanna Lumley.

No sign of ABBA... yet

We've just had a performance of "Waterloo" starring icon Conchita Wurst, and a clip from the ABBA Voyage arena in London (featuring the digital 'Abbatars'), but we're yet to see the quartet in the flesh...

And Eurovision fans are pretty disappointed.

Croatia's Baby Lasagna branded 'Rammstein at home' for rock entry

Croatia's Baby Lasagna is being compared to the German rock group after the singer's performance of "Rim Tim Tagi Dim" this evening - a song which is favourite to potentially win this year's contest.

All 25 songs have performed...

And the vote is still open for people to call in to support their favourites.

The disqualification of the Netherlands means the '06' number is skipped, and instead, the jury votes will bump up to the next one - so the song ranked 8th gets promoted to 7th, for example.

Dutch viewers can still vote themselves, though...

Viewers are big fans of Baby Lasagna's 'legendary' performance for Croatia

The 24th performance this evening was Croatia with Baby Lasagna's "Rim Tim Tagi Dim", and Twitter is ablaze with love for this particular track.

"Croatia is taking it," wrote one, with another reporting the song got a "HUGE standing ovation from the audience".

Fans call on UK to 'bring back Sam Ryder' after Olly Alexander's performance

As we near the end of the performances, UK Eurovision fans are pleading for the return of 2022 entrant Sam Ryder as the representative for the country, following Olly Alexander taking to the stage with his track "Dizzy".

"Sam Ryder set the standard. Last year was poor and Olly Alexander has also shown how not to do Eurovision," wrote one.

Another commented : "How did we got [sic] from Sam Ryder to this?"

It's not all negative, though, as LBC presenter Lewis Goodall said the performance was "the best UK entry in years" along with the "Spaceman" singer.

People think they already know who's voting for Cyprus...

Eurovision viewers are predicting Cyprus will get 12 points from Greece, as the neighbouring country has been known to award high points to the nearby state.

Former GB News presenter Simon McCoy tweeted : "Greece. Twelve points. Why waste time? #Eurovision #Cyprus"

Ireland's Eurovision entry Bambie Thug reportedly defied a previous order from organisers the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and went ahead with writing "ceasefire" on their face for their grand final performance.

Bambie revealed earlier this week that they were told not to feature a message about the ongoing war in the Middle East on their outfit, which includes the early medieval alphabet of Ogham.

They concluded their performance of "Doomsday Blue" by shouting "love will always triumph hate".

We've just had Ireland's Bambie Thug take to the stage with their track "Doomsday Blue", and they've already received quite a far bit of attention online for their brand of "Ouija Pop" - which right-wingers have fumed is "satanic".

This is while viewers at home heard applause and cheers played over the audience, like it was during their semi-final performance earlier this week.

Lines open ahead of first contestant taking to the stage

It's not a case of waiting until all 25 contestants have performed before you can cast your vote, as the lines have just opened before Sweden's entrants Marcus and Martinus take to the stage with their track, "Elektrisk".

Sweden are, of course, the host country following Loreen's win in Liverpool with "Tattoo" last year.

NikkieTutorials announces she will no longer present the Netherlands' results

YouTuber NikkieTutorials does a tutorial on behaving during Eurovision voting

Dutch YouTuber Nikkie de Jager - known online as NikkieTutorials - has confirmed she will be joining Finland's KÀÀrijÀ and Norway's Alessandra in refusing to announce their country's results this evening.

On Instagram, she wrote: "Presenting the Eurovision points results on behalf of the Netherlands would be a dream come true. However, this moment can't be a distraction from the goal: announcing the points. Whatever I decide to do tonight, showing up, making a statement, not showing up, not saying anything, I don't think I'll be able to choose the right thing to do.

"Therefore I've chosen, together with [broadcast] AVROTROS, to not present the Dutch points on live television. I am grateful to have full support and freedom to make this decision. Like many others, I expected tonight to be something completely different. Let's hope in the future music will actually unite us all.

The Netherlands' entry this year - Joost Klein with his track "Europapa" - was disqualified from the contest on Saturday."

This isn't the first time Eurovision has faced protests over Palestine

Iceland's Hatari perform during Eurovision 2019 semi-finals

As protests and boycotts continue this evening over Israel's participation in this year's Eurovision, it's not the first time that the contest has seen contestants speaking up about Palestine.

Back in 2019, metal band Hatari - representing Iceland - held up flags of the Middle Eastern country as scores were being announced, in a move which saw the country fined as a result .

Bambie Thug says they have made 'multiple complaints' over Israeli broadcaster

Eurovision: Bambie Thug 'cried with team' after finding out Israel had made

Ireland's contestant for this year's Eurovision, Bambie Thug, has issued a statement on Instagram this evening in which they claim they have made "multiple complaints" to organisers the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) over KAN, the Israeli public service broadcaster.

They wrote: "Over the last few days I have raised multuple complaints to the EBU regarding instances I have experienced this week. Earlier today they confirmed to my delegation in front of others that KAN's commentator had broken the rules of conduct during the Eurovision Semi-Final 1.

"I have been patiently waiting to hear what action is set to be taken by the EBU following this rule break. I have since seen a statement by EBU Director General which contradicts this earlier confirmation.

"I am still waiting for an official update from the EBU."

KÀÀrijÀ pulls out as Finnish spokesperson

"Cha Cha Cha" singer KÀÀrijÀ, who was last year's runner-up in the Eurovision Song Contest, has announced that he will no longer announce who Finland will award its 12 points to as his country's spokesperson later this evening.

In a post to his Instagram Story, the musician - real name Jere Mikael Pöyhönen - wrote: "I have decided not to participate as the spokesperson for the Finnish jury in tonight's Eurovision finale. Giving out the points tonight does not feel right."

Ireland's singer Bambie Thug explains why they missed the dress rehearsal

Ireland’s Eurovision Song Contest entry Bambie Thug said they missed their dress rehearsal following a “situation” which required “urgent attention” from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

On their Instagram story, they wrote: “Dear Coven, There was a situation while we were waiting to go to stage for the flag parade rehearsal which I felt needed urgent attention from the EBU – the EBU have taken this matter seriously and we have been in a discussion about what action needs to be taken.

“This means I have missed my dress rehearsal – I am really sorry to the fans that have come to see me.

“I hope to see you on the stage tonight.”

Statement released on disqualification of the Netherlands

The official page of the Netherlands’ Songfestival, which sends acts to Eurovision Song Contest, said the incident which led to Dutch act Joost Klein being disqualified followed the performer being filmed when he had “repeatedly indicated” that he did not want to be.

“An incident occurred after last Thursday’s performance. Against clearly made agreements, Joost was filmed when he had just gotten off stage and had to rush to the greenroom. At that moment, Joost repeatedly indicated that he did not want to be filmed. This wasn’t respected,” the statement said.

“This led to a threatening movement from Joost towards the camera. Joost did not touch the camera woman.

“This incident was reported, followed by an investigation by the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) and police.

“Yesterday and today we consulted extensively with the EBU and proposed several solutions. Nevertheless, the EBU has still decided to disqualify Joost Klein.”

WASHINGTON (TND) — Rapper Macklemore announced Monday the upcoming release of a new song supporting anti-Israel student protesters on college campuses.

Universities have become hotbeds of anti-Israel and anti-American sentiment in recent weeks as protesters rally in support of Palestine. While some of these demonstrations have remained peaceful, others have devolved into violence .

The song, titled “Hind’s Hall,” will donate all proceeds to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East, the rapper wrote via X. The song's title seemingly references the name given to Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall by students who occupied the building last week.

Macklemore, known for hits like "Thrift Shop" and "Same Love," demonstrates clear support for protesting students in a clip of "Hind's Hall" shared to X, including through lyrics and videos showing recent campus efforts.

“The people they won’t leave / what is threatening about divesting and wanting peace?” the rapper asks to open the song.

He then describes the world as a “system designed by white supremacy” before arguing student protesters have “seen the truth” about the war in Gaza through TikTok. Macklemore, who in 2014 reportedly apologized for wearing an antisemitic costume, then adds a line saying it is not antisemitic to be anti-Zionist.

“Blood is on your hands, Biden, we can see it all / and f--- no I’m not voting for you in the fall,” Macklemore raps.

Also included in the song is a dig at rapper Drake, who is currently fighting a high-profile diss track battle with fellow artist Kendrick Lamar.

“If I was on a label you could drop me today / and I’d be fine with it because the heart fed my page,” Macklemore raps. “I want a ceasefire / f--- a response from Drake.”

I was wandering about town by myself when on a recent trip to visit relatives in Florence, and I happened upon a tea room. Feeling adventurous, I moseyed on in and had a delightful time enjoying a pot of Earl Grey and a small charcuterie board, and a pot of green tea with rose and an apricot scone. Everything was wonderfully curated, decorated, and made with intention. The tea and the food were lovely, and the ladies operating the tea room were lovely and just the right amount of attentive. 10/10 do recommend!

the presentation song

Pleasant atmosphere for tea but lunch was disappointing. With two combo option without bread, it was more a starter salad with very little of anything other than lettuce served on a salad plate with a small scoop of chicken salad. Not a good value for the price of $10 per person. I'm sorry but others may be interested.

Review from Google Business Page from Tracy Bodine I can't begin to describe how perfectly our two blended events went yesterday. I own two venues in town and I can admit that we have very particular standards for gatherings. I see the behind the scenes on a daily basis. Gaye and her team went above and beyond and the attention to detail was out of this world. I hosted a Mother's Day Brunch but also incorporated a party for the children. Under the tent was the kids area and the girls had a fairy theme and the boys had a pirate theme. Everything was so well planned from the activities to the snacks and had two people designated for the crafts and entertaining them which is a task in its self. The fairy dressed up was icing on the cake as she sang songs. For the Mothers the vintage hats were so fun to pick out and the food was outstanding. Our first course was a delicious salad followed by cucumber sandwiches, Reuben roll ups and pimento cheese sandwiches. For desert we had banana bread, warm scones with heart shaped butter and their signature white moose served in little tea cups. The presentation from fruit in the water cups to the tiny jam dishes for the scones was a show stopper. The work that goes into these events takes a lot of time and effort and they nailed it. Every single person in our group was so complimentary and we are already planning the next one.
