Depending on the school and study program you apply to, you may also need to submit a separate SOP or letter of intent to receive a letter of acceptance from a Canadian Designated Learning Institution (DLI). However, your school application SOP and study permit SOP will convey different information and serve different purposes.
That said, it’s normal for the two SOPs to have some common elements and you may be able to repurpose some parts of your university/college admission SOP for your student visa SOP.
May be required by some DLIs for admission into certain study programs. | The government recommends that you include it with your Canadian study permit application.
Focuses on why you think the school and program are the right fit for your career path, as well as your academic and extracurricular interests and goals. | Focuses on your reasons for wanting to study in Canada and in that particular school. Also clarifies that you understand your responsibilities as an international student.
Helps the admissions board decide whether the school should admit you. | Helps the visa officer decide whether you should receive a Canadian study permit. |

A good, comprehensive SOP can be the deciding factor as to whether or not your dream of studying in Canada becomes reality. To write a persuasive SOP and improve your chances of receiving a Canadian study permit, make sure your statement of purpose covers the following essential points:
You need to make a compelling argument for why you want to study here instead of at a domestic university or college, or in a different country. Canada is an attractive study destination for many reasons, including its high quality of education, lower tuition fees compared to countries like the U.S. or U.K., diverse classrooms , and more. In a few sentences, explain why studying in Canada is the right choice for you.
Since visa officers want to ensure you’ll leave the country once your legal status expires, avoid talking about in your SOP. Read our article on the for some top reasons to study in Canada. |
In this paragraph, highlight some aspects that influenced your decision to apply to a specific DLI. For instance, the school you chose may be highly ranked, have good reviews, or may be known for its research facilities or successful alumni. Avoid generic statements like “This university will help me achieve my career goals,” and instead, talk about the school’s unique strengths.
A visa officer wants to understand your motivation behind choosing a particular study program . If the program you’ve chosen is related to your previous education or work experience, talk about your interest in the field and how this natural next step will equip you with the academic or technical skills to further your career plan. If you picked a program that doesn’t align with your prior education, explain why you’re making this change and how this program will help you fill crucial skill gaps.
Although a gap year won’t necessarily impact your chances of getting a Canadian student visa, it’s important to clarify that you used your time productively. Whether you spent your time off taking care of a sick family member, acquiring new skills, or volunteering , use your letter of explanation to address the reason for the gap.
While you need to provide proof of financial support as part of your study permit application, you should also highlight how you plan to fund your studies in your SOP. Mention if you have paid tuition and accommodation fees for your first year of study, have a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) , funds in a Canadian bank account , qualified for a grant or scholarship , or if someone else is funding your studies.
A visa officer’s primary concern is that you intend to return home after your studies and won’t stay in Canada illegally after your study permit expires. You may want to focus on how you plan to use your educational credentials after returning to your home country. Examples include bringing a global perspective to your industry or improving your employability in your domestic job market.
As an international student, you may qualify for a after you complete your study program in Canada. However, until your PGWP application is approved, this will be an uncertain plan and should not be included in your study permit SOP. |
While you don’t need a separate paragraph to clarify this, be sure to include relevant details where needed. For instance, if you plan to work part-time while studying , mention that you’ll adhere to the maximum permitted working hours (20 hours per week during the semester and full-time during winter or summer breaks). Note: The 20 hour per week limit on working off-campus has been temporarily removed until December 2023.
You may want to include other details to give your study permit application an edge over the competition. Draw attention to your impeccable academic record or your high IELTS score . You can also add a few lines about your good conduct, your commitment to education, or how you plan to balance your studies and part-time work.
Compared to your study permit SOP, your SOP for university/college admissions will be more personal and should dive deeper into your academic and professional achievements, as well as your long and short-term goals and how they align with your program of study. |
Ideally, your statement of purpose for the Canadian study permit application should be between 500 and 1,000 words. While the government doesn’t specify a word limit, it’s best to avoid going over two pages.
The SOP for your university or college admission application may be longer. While some DLIs require an essay-type SOP ranging between 800 to 2,000 words, others have a questionnaire format SOP with a separate word limit for each response.
Before drafting your SOP, create a structure to ensure you don’t miss any key information. Use subheadings to separate each essential point outlined above, so the visa officer can easily find what they’re looking for. Keep the word limit in mind and make a mental note of how long each section should be.
When you talk about your past educational credentials and work experience, list them in order, from the most recent to the oldest. This will give the visa officer a better idea of your academic and career path and how it relates to the study program you’ve chosen. Be sure to address any significant gaps in your education or work history.
Including some relevant academic or professional achievements can demonstrate your commitment, merit, and interest in the field. Where possible, use specific examples to make your case. For instance, statements like, “I was top of my class in mathematics and scored 93 per cent in my class 12 examination,” can help a visa officer understand your interest in a bachelor’s program in the subject.
Your SOP should be easy to understand, even by someone who isn’t an expert in your field of study. Avoid using abbreviations and technical terms that a layperson would be unfamiliar with.
Lying or exaggerating facts on your SOP is a big no-no and will result in your study permit being rejected. Visa officers will also have the other documents you submit and will catch inaccuracies or omissions. Plus, if you’re called in for a visa interview later on, you may be asked to substantiate the claims you make on your SOP.
Write your SOP in English unless you’re applying to a study program that will be delivered in French. Visa officers will also evaluate your language skills based on your SOP, so make sure it’s well-written using vocabulary and grammar skills that match your IELTS band.
Your statement of purpose is your chance to tell your story, explain shortfalls in your application, and your reasons for wanting a Canadian study permit. Never outsource the writing of your SOP to someone else. Even if their language skills are better than yours, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to convey your motivations for studying in Canada better than you. Keep it original and don’t plagiarize content written by someone else—if you do, it will adversely impact your chances of getting a student visa.
Spend time proofreading your statement of purpose and correct any spelling and grammar mistakes you spot. You can also ask family or friends to review your SOP before you submit your study permit application to make sure it’s well structured and coherent.
Although your SOP plays a role in whether your study permit application is approved, don’t let this process stress you out. Most Canadian study permit applications get approved, provided no essential documentation is missing or incorrect. Make sure your SOP makes a compelling, honest case for why you should receive a study permit and covers all the key aspects a visa officer will look for, and you will soon be on your way to study in Canada.

Step-by-step instructions, required documents, and other important information about applying for your study permit.
Documents all students need.
All students coming to UBC will need all of the following documents.
When possible, documents should be issued within 30 days before submitting your application to be considered recent.
If you must provide several documents in a section, combine them into one file (such as a PDF) before uploading. The size limit is 4MB per file; you may need to reduce the file size .
If your documents are not in English or French, they must be accompanied by:
Even if your Letter of Acceptance, or offer letter, has admission conditions that you still have left to complete, you may use your conditional Letter of Acceptance for your study permit application. We do not recommend that you wait to meet the conditions before applying; "full acceptance" letters are not automatically issued.
If you are applying for your study permit with a conditional Letter of Acceptance, add a section to your letter of explanation to explain how the conditions have been or will be met and provide proof if you can.
The instructions for visa offices in India indicate that an unconditional letter of acceptance is required. See important considerations for details.
Undergraduate students: You will receive your Letter of Acceptance or Offer of Admissions by email.
Graduate students: You can download your Letter of Acceptance, which will be the first page of your admission offer, from e:Vision , the graduate studies application system.
Increase to proof of funds requirement
As of January 1, 2024, the minimum cost-of-living financial requirement will increase from $10,000 to $20,635 for 2024, in addition to tuition fees for the first year and travel costs. The cost-of-living amount will be adjusted each year based on Statistics Canada’s low-income cut-off.
It is very important to show strong proof of financial support from yourself and/or your sponsors, such as family members or organizations supporting you.
Most Canadian immigration officers interpret "evidence of sufficient funds" to mean 4 months of bank statements, savings account passbook, bank drafts, or other proof that indicates you have sufficient funds to cover the cost of 1 year in Canada including:
For more details, please see the Dec 7, 2023 newsletter and the Proof of Financial Support section on IRCC’s website .
Below are examples of what you can submit as proof of financial support. Provide as many of them as apply to your situation.
If the balance(s) in any of the documentation above is in foreign currency, provide a screenshot of the Bank of Canada currency converter result (if your currency is not listed, use xe.com ).
If the proof of funds is from another person’s bank account, such as a parent or family member who is sponsoring you, they must provide proof of where their funding is coming from. Additionally, they must write a letter (preferably notarized) stating that they will support you during your studies in Canada. To write a letter of financial support, they can download our template (docx).
Include a summary or an index page of all the documents you are submitting for this section. This will also allow you to clarify or explain the connection between documents, if applicable. You can download a template for the summary (docx).
Provide a copy of the bio-data page (the page with your name, date of birth, passport number, expiration date, etc.) and a copy of every page of your passport that has stamps, visas, or markings from any country. Most visa offices require copies of your current passport and all expired passports that you have held; be sure to check your visa office instruction guide for the requirements you must meet.
Important : Your study permit will not be issued beyond your passport's expiry date.
If you do not have a passport, apply immediately .
If your passport will expire soon, extend it before you apply for your study permit.
If this is not an option or passport processing time is too long, apply for a study permit with your current passport. After you arrive in Canada, extend your passport and study permit from within Canada before your study permit expires. If you get a new passport before your application is processed, you can request to add your new passport to your application through the IRCC’s webform .
Make sure your photo meets the specifications for the application method you're using.
Remember to check for any additional documents required by your country's visa office.

If you're applying online:
If you apply for a study permit from outside Canada, you will be required to submit your biometrics (fingerprints and a photo) in-person at a biometrics collection point outside of Canada.
The time it takes to submit your biometrics is not included in the processing time for your study permit and your application will not be processed until biometrics are received by the visa office. You only need to give biometrics once every 10 years.
American citizens, those who have provided biometrics in the past 10 years, as well as certain individuals are exempt from providing biometrics.
Find out where to submit biometrics
Note: If there is no biometrics collection service point in your home country, you may need to travel to another country to give biometrics.
Depending on your specific circumstances, you may need one or more of the following documents.
As of Jan 22, 2024, study permit applications outside Canada require a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL).Some students are exempt from the PAL , such as master’s degree and doctoral degree students.
Find out how to get a PAL , if you need one. After you receive your PAL, you will need to upload it in your document checklist as part of your study permit application.
A letter of explanation is a good way to describe additional factors or include additional documents to support your application. An important part of your application is to provide an explanation and supporting documents to show the officer that you have strong ties to your home country and will leave Canada before the end of your authorized stay. See the guideline below on how to write a letter of explanation.
Your letter of explanation could include:
For further guidelines, check out the How to write a Letter of Explanation guide (pdf).
You may also use our template to write a letter of explanation (docx). Upload this document under "Client Information" in the Optional Documents section of your online checklist.
To address the purpose of your studies, write a detailed study plan that is concise, clear and genuine (see template below). This may be required by your visa office and could include specific points to address.
For further guidelines, check out the How to write a Study Plan guide (pdf).
You may also use our template to write a study plan (docx). Upload this document under "Client Information" in the Optional Documents section of your online checklist if applying online.
You require a medical exam when applying for a study permit if you:
If the above scenario applies to you, you will need a medical exam conducted by an IRCC-approved Panel Physician . The doctor will send the full results to IRCC automatically. Ask the doctor for a copy of your medical exam report (referred to as your "e-medical"), which you will need to upload in your document checklist.
You have 2 options:
Medical exams are valid for 12 months and must be valid at the time you enter Canada. If you will travel to Canada more than 12 months after your medical exam, you will need a new one before you travel.
This form is required if it is included in your document checklist (see sample below) or if it is required by your visa office (upload under Client Information ). You will need to fill out the form, print it, sign the form by hand, then scan and upload the form.
This document is required only if you answer “Yes” to questions 3, 4, 5 or 6 in the " Background Information " section of the " Application for a Study Permit Made Outside of Canada " form [IMM1294].
Most students will not require Schedule 1. That is why it is listed in the " Optional Documents " section in your IRCC online account, if you are applying online.

How to write an impressive loe/sop for a canada study visa.
The Letter of Explanation (LoE), often mislabeled as Statement of Purpose (SoP) in the field, is a pivotal letter for securing a Canadian study permit. It enables you to make a strong case for why you deserve to achieve your higher education goals in Canada and how it will help you to achieve your career goals.
Letter of Explanation (LoE) often referred as Statement of Purpose (SoP) or Letter of Intent (LoI) is an important document while you apply for Study permit in Canada.
In general SoP is understood as the letter you send to school for admission stating who you are, what your interests are, what goals and further plans are, how and why you wish to study the certain program etc. whereas a letter for Canadian Study Permit is headed as Letter of Explanation or Letter of Intent.
Also read; Statement of Purpose (SoP) for Study Abroad
We have a general practice of using these terms interchangeably terminologically.
LoE/LoI is generally used to express yourself to visa officer to convince why should you be given a visa. Unlike USA, students do not have to appear in face-to-face interview hence letter is the best way to explain yourself and your intentions.
Quality of Letter of Explanation has been one of the main reasons for visa denial. It has been found that in many cases of visa refusal , the LoE is copied from those sharing the similar profiles or fully written by consultancies.
The originality is the key to drafting the best LoE. The student himself is the best person who can understand and explain himself and all the related conditions around him including his interests, intentions, goals, as well as social and financial conditions.
Also read; What are the Short Courses in Canada for international students
However, it is equally important to follow a standard format while you are writing an LoE as you cannot ignore this all in the mind with originality. Moreover, it is recommended to take a guidance from experts if you think your LoE isn’t competitive.
Again, do not contradict guidance from experts with originality. Get help from experts with their ideas, proof reading and polishing if you have to but write it yourself.
Drafting a convincing LOE has always been a problem for most of the students which results in ending up copying or assigning it to somebody else. Visa officers have an experience of reviewing these letters for years and are likely to identify the copied one.
Approaching a consultant for completely writing an LoE might be an idea in students’s head but after drafting 100s of LoEs and SoPs, they will come with the same flavor, tone and specifications but just with your details and I believe it is not what a visa officer wants to see.
Most important thing to consider while writing an LoE yourself is what information you include and how you organize and present your information. Date, salutation and subject are mandatory. You can start with your brief introduction which includes who you are and what your academic background is.
The following paragraphs should be able to explain the reason to choose Canada and no other countries, reason to choose the particular subject and that particular school for it, your career plans, your financial plans to cover your expenses and your home ties to convince that you will come back after your studies.
You can conclude your letter by explaining how you follow your responsibilities as an international student while in Canada and kindly requesting for a study permit. These points are the basic guidelines, but you still got some job to work on the contents.
So far, students must have understood that Letter of Explanation or Statement of Purpose is also the way to communicate visa officers any information that is not in the documents, but you think is important for visa officer to know.
Despite trying numerous times, if you think your LOE is not up to the mark, choose the right consultant who can guide you to draft a better one. We strongly request students to avoid asking consultants write the LoE for you.
We believe that the right consultants are those who guide you, not the ones who write it for you. It is recommended to place an LoE in the beginning of the uploaded file.

There is an outside Canada and an in-Canada process for study permit applications. Most newly-admitted students must follow the outside Canada application process. The in-Canada application process is primarily available for those who are in Canada with a study permit or work permit (including their dependents) as well as exchange and visiting students studying without a study permit.
A study permit is not a travel document and does not authorize entry or re-entry into Canada on its own. You may also require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
Find more information about the TRV and eTA .
New in 2024, changes to minimum financial requirements.
For study permit applications submitted on or after January 1, 2024, the minimum annual amount for living expenses for an individual international student is now $20,635CAD. More details are available in the Standard Required Documents section below.
Initial study permit applications submitted after January 22, 2024, for undergraduate studies must now include a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL).
Master’s and PhD degree students are exempt from this requirement.
The tool below can be used to determine whether you require a PAL or whether you are exempt.
You are exempt from the requirement for a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL). You can proceed with a study permit application as soon as you have the other required documents.
Details about the study permit application process are noted below.
You are required to have a Provincial Attestation Letter.
If you have been recently admitted to an undergraduate degree program, you can request your PAL through your Join U of T Portal account.
If you are a returning undergraduate degree student that must apply for their study permit outside Canada, please notify the advisors at your campus international office. They can provide guidance about requesting a PAL.
More details are provided below.
If using an IRCC Secure Online Account to apply, select the following answers when you encounter these questions on the pre-application questionnaire:
I am an applicant who meets another exception on the IRCC website.
I am an applicant who is applying for restoration (in Canada applications only)
You do not appear to be eligible to apply for a study permit inside Canada. As a result, you will have to submit your study permit application outside Canada and you will require a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL).
Admitted undergraduate students who require a PAL can find information about how to acquire the attestation letter inside their Join U of T Portal account. More details are available in the Standard Required Documents section below.
As soon as you have the letter of acceptance and all other required documents.
Generally, you must apply for a study permit before you come to Canada. Only citizens and permanent residents of the United States and residents of Greenland or St. Pierre et Miquelon can apply when entering Canada.
Check the estimated study permit application processing time for the country where you are submitting your application.
Important: If you’re applying online, check your personal checklist (generated based on your answers in the online eligibility questionnaire ) for these and any other required documents. We also recommend that you check the country-specific application requirements provided by IRCC for additional documents that may be required or recommended.
You may need other documents, including (but not limited to):
Online application .
You must have an immigration medical exam if you have been in a ‘designated’ country for at least 6 of the past 12 months. You will also require one if you are planning to work in a health-care setting, primary/secondary school setting, or other jobs where the protection of public health is important .
IRCC provides details about who requires immigration medical exams, who can offer them, and more.
If you require one, you can book the appointment before submitting your application, or you can do so once requested by IRCC. It is usually a good idea to do so in advance. This is called an upfront medical exam and is mandatory if applying through the Student Direct Stream (see below).
If you had an immigration medical exam within the 12 months prior to applying for your study permit, attach proof (i.e. a copy of your medical receipt).
The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is available to legal residents of Antigua and Barbuda, Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, India, Morocco, Pakistan, Peru, The Philippines, Senegal, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, or Vietnam. It aims to process applications within 20 calendar days but has additional application requirements. Applicants in participating countries can choose the SDS if they meet the requirements, or they can apply through the regular study permit application process discussed above.
IRCC outlines required documents based on the country from which you are applying, but they generally include:
Medical Exam
You may need to complete an immigration medical exam before your application can be finalized (if you have not already done so).
If you are required to provide biometrics (or you choose to re-submit biometrics because your current biometrics will expire before the end of your studies), you will be charged the $85 CAD biometric collection fee in addition to the application processing fee. After submitting the application, you will be sent a Biometric Instruction Letter that will guide you through booking a biometric collection appointment at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) or Application Service Centre (ASC).
Additional Documents
Immigration officers may ask you for additional documentation to make a decision about your application. If they ask you to attach the documents to your online application, you will login to your account where you must upload the documents and re-submit the application . IRCC provides specific details about how to do so . Failure to do so will likely result in a refusal of your application.
If you need to notify IRCC about a change, you can use their web form .
Application Tracking
If you wish to track the status of your application, you can create a special IRCC “tracker account” to do so (note: this is not the same account where you submitted the online application).
Even if you already have a visa or travel authorization that may allow you to travel to Canada, we usually recommend waiting outside Canada for the study permit to be approved, because you are not generally eligible to begin studying until the study permit has been issued.
If you decide to change schools after your study permit for U of T has been approved, but before you travel to Canada, you must re-apply for a new study permit. If you change schools after arriving in Canada, you can just notify IRCC of your change of Designated Learning Institution (DLI) through their website .
If your application is approved, the Canadian visa office serving the country where you submitted your application will issue you an approval letter, known as a Port of Entry Letter of Introduction, and an entry visa or an eTA (if applicable). Do not book travel to Canada until you’ve received your Letter of Introduction. Present the letter to the border officer when you enter Canada to get the hard copy of your study permit.
If you require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV, also known as an entry or visitor visa), you will be asked to submit your passport so that the visa officer can affix the visa into it. You do not need to make a separate application.
If you require an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), you don’t have to submit your passport. An eTA will be issued electronically and associated with your passport number. Your eTA number and expiry date will be included in the Letter of Introduction.
Find more information about entering Canada .
If you are in Canada with a study permit or work permit, you are considered a protected person, or you are a dependent of someone in Canada with a study permit or work permit, you can apply within Canada. Exchange and visiting students that extend their studies beyond 6 months may also be eligible, even if they don’t have an initial study permit ( full list ).
If you don’t fit these categories, your application will need to be processed outside Canada (even if you’re already in Canada).
If you do not yet have a study permit, apply as soon as you have the offer of admission and all required documents. This is because you will need the study permit to begin studying.
If you already have a study permit, you should usually apply far enough in advance that your application will be processed before your current permit expires. Usually, applying 2-3 months in advance is enough. If your application is submitted, but not processed, before your current permit expires, you can remain in Canada under maintained status .
Check the estimated in-Canada study permit extension processing times .
Important: If you’re applying online, check your personal checklist (generated based on your answers in the online eligibility questionnaire ) for these and any other required documents.
IRCC Secure Account .
Do not use the IRCC Portal for study permit extension applications. Students must use the IRCC Secure Account for all in-Canada study permit extensions.
PAL-Specific Tips
Immigration officers may ask you for additional documentation to make a decision about your application. If they ask you to attach the documents to your online application, you will login to your account where you must upload the documents and re-submit the application. Failure to do so will likely result in a refusal of your application.
If you need to notify IRCC about a change, you can use their web form .
If you wish to track the status of your application, you can create a special IRCC “tracker account” to do so (note: this is not the same account where you submitted the online application).
IRCC will notify you through your IRCC account that the application was approved. The study permit will be mailed to the Canadian mailing address provided in the application. This process could take as long as 6 weeks.
Unless you already had a study permit (and this is an extension of your student status in Canada) or are an exchange/visiting student transitioning from visitor to student status, you cannot begin studying until the study permit is approved.
Unlike with an application made outside Canada, if your citizenship requires you to have a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to be able to enter Canada, you’ll need to make a separate application if you want to request one. This should only be done after the study permit is approved. For more information, consult our pages on Entry visa and eTA .
Register for a live Question and Answer session (Requires logging-in with JOINid/UTORid)
Estimated processing times give an idea of how long an application could take to be processed. If something outside of your control makes urgent processing important, you can contact IRCC through their web form to ask if it is possible. It may take up to two weeks to get a response. Note: Use the ‘Update or ask about your application’ option and then the ‘Other’ section, as the ‘Ask for urgent processing for your permanent resident card’ section doesn’t include study/work permits.
If you already have status in Canada, and have applied from within Canada for a new permit, you can remain in Canada under ‘ maintained status ’ (formerly known as ‘implied status’) while you wait for an answer. While you can remain in Canada, you cannot necessarily begin studying until the permit is issued. Only those already in Canada on a study permit or exchange students transitioning from visitor to student status can begin studying while waiting for a decision to be made on their application. If the application is refused, you must stop studying immediately.
If you applied outside Canada, you generally need to wait until your application is approved to travel to Canada. Even those who may be allowed to travel to Canada as a visitor are encouraged to wait and only travel to Canada after the study permit is approved and the Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is issued (if required).
Only citizens or permanent residents of the United States and residents of Greenland, or St. Pierre and Miquelon are eligible to apply at a port-of-entry.
If you applied through the in-Canada application process, from within Canada you can remain in Canada under maintained statu s.
If you are in Canada, you can contact IRCC through their in-Canada call centre (1-888-242-2100) or through their web form .
If you are outside Canada, you can contact IRCC through their web form .
Each section will only allow one file to be uploaded. You will need to use software to merge the documents into a single file that is an acceptable format (ie. PDF) and fits within the file size limits.
IRCC provides instructions for doing so in their Help Centre .
Every refusal is accompanied by a letter that gives some information about the reason for the decision. If you need help understanding it, and your next steps, you can book an appointment with an International Student Immigration Advisor.

When applying for a student visa anywhere in the world, they will ask you to submit a student cover letter. This cover letter must explain why you are applying for a student visa and other information regarding your trip to another country for study purposes.
A cover letter is a great way to catch the Embassy’s eye and help them better understand your visa application purposes.
When applying for a student visa, a simple and understandable cover letter must have three parts:
The heading paragraph of a cover letter must be used as an introduction to the Embassy. In that paragraph, you can include information such as:
In this paragraph, you can include information, such as;
The final paragraph of your letter must include information, such as;
Here are some of the most important things you need to include in your student visa application:
Note: You can include any other information that you think is helpful to the Embassy in your cover letter.
Here is a simple example of how you can write a cover letter when applying for a student visa.
Dear Honorable Consult, My name is Hana Bruno (passport number: AL11223344); I am a Macedonian citizen who lives in Skopje, Macedonia. I am a master’s student in Psychology. I am applying for a Romania visa because I recently accepted a scholarship from a Romanian University for Psychology Master Degree. The University that offered me the scholarship is The University of Romania in Budapest; the scholarship is available from March 2023 for six months. The scholarship has a monthly amount of €900; it includes my traveling tickets (two ways), the accommodation, and any monthly expenses I might have while in Budapest. I might say this is more than enough for a student in Budapest. I have taken many courses and have always been an excellent student; I believe I am more than prepared for this opportunity. This journey will help me develop in many ways, including personal and professional aspects. I want to use this time to learn new things, meet new people, and visit as many tourist attractions as possible. I have always heard incredible things about Budapest, and being able to experience this journey in Budapest is a dream. I believe this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I want to take it! Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to your – hopefully – positive response! +99005566 ______________________________ |
