संघर्ष का दूसरा नाम ही जीवन हैं, जीवन में ऐसे सैकड़ों कार्य है जहाँ हमे कई मुश्किलों और परेशानियों का सामना करना पड़ता हैं. बहुत से लोग जीवन में छोटी छोटी समस्याओं पर झुंझला जाते है और वह राह तक छोड़ जाते हैं.

हमें जीवन में साहस के साथ हर समस्या का सामना करना चाहिए, क्योंकि ऐसा कोई कार्य नहीं जिसमें जोखिम और परेशानियाँ न हो इसलिए हार मान लेने की बजाय हमें डटकर उसका सामना करना चाहिए.

साहस वह अद्भुत क्षमता है जो तकदीर और तस्वीर दोनों का स्वरूप बदल देती हैं. साहसी व्यक्ति न केवल अपने जीवन को अच्छे ढंग से जीता है बल्कि अपने दोस्तों के लिए भी मददगार होता हैं.

साहस रुपी आंतरिक शक्ति को जितना सींचा जाए वह उतना ही अधिक बढ़ता जाता हैं. हर कोई चाहता है कि जीवन में वह कुछ बड़ा करे जैसा कोई न कर पाए मगर उसके लिए भी पर्याप्त साहस की आवश्यकता होती हैं.

बड़े कार्य के आगाज से पूर्व कई सवाल दिमाग में कोंध्ते हैं क्या मैं यह कर पाउगा, क्या मुझे सफलता मिलेगी या विफलता मिलेगी. यदि आप साहस के साथ सकारात्मक सोच रखते हुए कार्य की शुरुआत करे तो निश्चय ही उस कार्य में न सिर्फ आपकों सफलता मिलेगी बल्कि आपका आत्मविश्वास भी बढ़ेगा जो आपकों हमेशा बड़े रिस्क लेने के लिए प्रेरित करेगा.

जीवन में कुछ करना और पाना हो तो रिस्क उठाना ही पड़ता हैं. चाहे वो जीवन का कोई भी क्षेत्र क्यों न हो. संसार में हमें ऐसे हजारों उदहारण मिल जाएगे जिन्होंने शारीरिक अक्षमता, जीवन की कठिनाइयों और विपरीत परिस्थतियों में भी साहस के साथ कार्य करते हुए दुनिया के समक्ष उदाहरण प्रस्तुत किये.

आज के परिपेक्ष्य में यदि ऐसे किसी साहसी व्यक्ति का जीवन जो हमें प्रेरणा दे सकता है वह है नरेंद्र मोदी, भले ही हम किसी एक विचारधारा को मानने वाले हो मगर मोदी का जीवन और दुनियां के सबसे बड़े लोकतंत्र के दूसरे प्रधान बनने की कहानी कम साहसी नहीं हैं.

क्या कोई कल्पना कर सकता था कि रेलवे स्टेशन पर चाय की थड़ी पर काम करने वाला बालक आगे जाकर देश का नेतृत्व करेगा तथा दुनिया उसका लोहा मानेगी.

वैसे तो एक बार कोई भी अनजान इन्सान नरेंद्र मोदी के जीवन की साहस भरी कहानी पर यकीन नहीं करेगा, मगर यदि परत दर परत उनके जीवन और पहली बार गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री बनने और बाद के गुजरात दंगों से उनके जीवन की विपरीत परिस्थतियों को समझना शुरू करे तो हम जान पाएगे कि उनका जीवन सफलता का पर्याय न होकर कथन परिश्रम और संघर्ष पर साहस की विजय के द्योतक के रूप में उभरकर सामने आता हैं.

स्पेन के रहने वाले कोलंबस ने अपने एशों आराम के जीवन, नौकरी आदि का त्याग कर साहसिक यात्राओं के लिए निकल गये, ऐसे अन्य साहसिक यात्रियों में ह्वेनसांग और फाह्यान ने अपने राज्य को छोड़कर हिमालय व पहाड़ी मार्ग होते हुए भारत आए कई बार जान पर जोखिम आने के बाद भी वे अपने लक्ष्य पर डटे रहे.

१० वीं से १५ वीं सदी के मध्य खोजी यात्राओं के लिए काल के समतुल्य दौर था. एक बार घर से निकल जाने के बाद उनके घर में वापिस लौट जाने की संभावना न के बराबर होती थी.

खतरनाक समुद्री यात्राओं, डाकुरों तथा लुटरों के भय से बचना लगभग ना मुमकिन था. यदि वो वापिस घर लौट आते तो वाकई उनके लिए यह नया जन्म माना जाता हैं.  फिर भी लोगों के साहस का अनुमान लगाया जा सकता है जो इस तरह की यात्राओं के लिए निकलते थे.

जीवन में साहस का महत्व निबंध 700 शब्द

कोई व्यक्ति अगर साहसी है तो वह दुनिया को बदलने की ताकत रखता है। साहस वाला व्यक्ति दुनिया में सबसे अलग होता है और उसके अंदर की निडरता ही उसे अन्य लोगों से खास बनाती है  क्योंकि साहस इंसान की सबसे बड़ी शक्ति होती है और साहस ही जीवन होता है।

अगर आपने अपनी जिंदगी में किसी काम को साहस के साथ नहीं किया या फिर आपने हिम्मत से काम नहीं लिया, तो आप कभी भी अपनी जिंदगी में सफलता की ऊंचाइयों को प्राप्त नहीं कर सकेंगे।

क्योंकि साहस ना होने की वजह से आपको एक अनजाना डर हमेशा सताता रहेगा और आपका यही डर एक दिन आपके ऊपर इतना हावी हो जाएगा कि आप परेशान हो जाएंगे और ना आप अपने कदम आगे बढ़ा पाएंगे ना ही अपने कदम पीछे खींच पाएंगे बल्कि आप त्रिशंकु की अवस्था में आ जाएंगे, जहां पर आपको कुछ भी ना सूझेगा ना ही कुछ आप कर सकेंगे।

मेरा तो मानना यह है कि साहस के बिना जिंदगी में कुछ भी पाना असंभव ही है। मान लेते हैं कि आप कोई बड़ा काम करने के लिए जा रहे हैं परंतु आप उस काम को चालू करने से पहले ही यह सोचने लगते हैं.

आपको उस काम में सफलता मिलेगी या फिर असफलता मिलेगी और ऐसी अवस्था में आप उस काम को लेकर के अपने कदम आगे पीछे खींचते रहते हैं।

परंतु इसी टाइम पर अगर आप साहस दिखाते हैं तो आपका भविष्य कुछ और ही होता है। कहा जाता है कि अगर आपको किसी चीज से डर लगता है तो एक बार आपको उस चीज को कर डालना चाहिए क्योंकि तालाब कितना गहरा है इसका अंदाजा तभी लगता है जब तालाब में उतरा जाता है।

जिंदगी में किसी भी काम को अगर आप करते हैं तो उसमें थोड़ा बहुत जोखिम तो होता ही है। हालांकि कुछ काम ऐसे भी होते हैं, जिसमें काफी ज्यादा जोखिम होता है.

परंतु अगर आप यह सोच कर के बैठे रहेंगे कि उस काम में जोखिम है और आपको उस काम को नहीं करना चाहिए, तो हमारा यकीन मानिए कि आप कभी भी अपनी जिंदगी में अपनी मंजिल को प्राप्त नहीं कर सकेंगे।

क्योंकि जब तक आप के अंदर किसी भी काम को करने का साहस नहीं आएगा, तब तक आपकी अंतरात्मा आपको यह इजाजत बिल्कुल भी नहीं देगी कि आप किसी काम को करें। इसलिए व्यक्ति के अंदर साहस यानी की हिम्मत होना बहुत ही आवश्यक माना जाता है।

आज के समय में दुनिया में ऐसे कई लोग हैं, जो एक बार अगर किसी काम में असफल हो जाते हैं तो उनकी हिम्मत ही टूट जाती है। आपने भी कई बार देखा होगा कि कई विद्यार्थी सिर्फ इसीलिए आत्महत्या कर लेते हैं, क्योंकि वह परीक्षा में फेल हो जाते हैं।

वहीं कई लोग इसलिए भी दोबारा धंधा करने के बारे में नहीं सोचते हैं क्योंकि उन्हें एक बार धंधे में नुकसान हो चुका होता है। 

इसलिए अधिकतर लोगों का माइंडसेट यही है कि वह नौकरी ही करें क्योंकि नौकरी में उन्हें नुकसान होने का खतरा नहीं होता है परंतु आपने देखा होगा कि जिन लोगों ने हिम्मत की और जिन्होंने बिजनेस को आजमाया,

आज वो लोग काफी उतार-चढ़ाव के बाद एक सफल व्यक्ति बन चुके हैं और उनकी इनकम नौकरी करने वाले लोगों से कहीं ज्यादा अधिक है।

साहस के प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण हमारे भारत देश के वर्तमान प्रधानमंत्री श्रीमान नरेंद्र मोदी जी हैं, जिन्होंने बिना किसी की परवाह किए हुए हिम्मत करके चाय बेचने का काम रेलवे स्टेशन पर किया था और वह अपने साहस और हिम्मत के बल पर ही आज भारत देश के प्रधानमंत्री के पद पर काबिज हैं।

यह साहस का ही परिणाम है कि कल्पना चावला जैसी महिलाएं अंतरिक्ष तक चली गई थी और उनके साहस के ही परिणाम स्वरूप आज इतिहास की किताबों में उनका नाम सम्मान के साथ लिया जाता है।

जिस प्रकार दिन आता है और उसके बाद रात आती है, उसी प्रकार रात के बाद दिन भी आता है। कहने का तात्पर्य यह है कि अगर आपकी जिंदगी में वर्तमान के समय में अंधेरा चल रहा है और आपको कोई भी रास्ता नहीं दिखाई दे रहा है,

तो इसका मतलब यह नहीं है कि आपको कोई रास्ता मिलेगा ही नहीं। एक न एक दिन अंधेरा हटेगा और रोशनी आएगी और आपको रास्ता दिखेगा।

इसलिए किसी भी काम में अगर आप असफल हो चुके हैं और असफलता के कारण आपको बुरे ख्याल आ रहे हैं तो 1 मिनट ठहरे। अपने अंदर साहस पैदा करें। अपने परिवार के बारे में सोचें और अपनी मुट्ठी बांधे और अपने मन, दिल और दिमाग से यह कहे कि मैं फिर से उठ खड़ा होऊंगा.

उन तमाम लोगों का मुंह अपनी सफलता से बंद कर दूंगा, जो मुझे कमजोर समझते हैं। अगर आपके अंदर साहस है तो आप हर मैदान फतेह करेंगे।

साहसी मनुष्य की पहली पहचान यह है कि वह इस बात की चिंता नहीं करता कि तमाशा देखने वाले लोग उसके बारे में क्या सोच रहे हैं। जनमत की उपेक्षा करके जीने वाला व्यक्ति दुनिया की असली ताकत होता है और मनुष्यता को प्रकाश भी उसी आदमी से मिलता है। 

अड़ोस पड़ोस को देख कर चलना, यह साधारण जीव का काम है। क्रांति करने वाले लोग अपने उद्देश्य की तुलना ना तो पड़ोसी के उद्देश्य से करते हैं और ना अपनी चाल को पड़ोसी की चाल देखकर मद्धिम बनाते हैं। 

साहसी मनुष्य उन स्वप्नों में भी रस लेता है, जिन स्वप्नों का कोई व्यवहारिक अर्थ नहीं है।  साहसी व्यक्ति सपने उधार नहीं लेता, वह अपने विचारों में रमा हुआ अपनी ही किताब पढ़ता है। 

झुंड में चलना, झुंड में चरना यह भैंस और भेड़ का काम है। सिंह तो बिल्कुल अकेला होने पर भी मगन रहता है। 

जो आदमी यह महसूस करता है कि किसी महान निश्चय के समय वह साहस से काम नहीं ले सका, जिंदगी की चुनौती को कबूल नहीं कर सका, वह सुखी नहीं हो सकता। 

बड़े मौके पर साहस नहीं दिखाने वाला आदमी बराबर अपनी आत्मा के भीतर एक आवाज सुनता रहता है। 

एक ऐसी आवाज जिसे वही सुन सकता है और जिसे वह रोक भी नहीं सकता। यह आवाज उससे बराबर कहती रहती है – ‘तुम साहस नहीं दिखा सके, कायर की तरह भाग खड़े हुए’। 

संसारिक अर्थ में जिसे हम सुख कहते हैं उसका ना मिलना, फिर भी इससे कहीं श्रेष्ठ है, कि मरने के समय हम अपनी आत्मा से यह धिक्कार सुनें कि तुममें हिम्मत की कमी थी, कि तुममें साहस का अभाव था कि तुम ठीक वक्त पर जिंदगी से भाग खड़े हुए। 

जिंदगी को ठीक से जीना हमेशा ही जोखिम खेलना है और जो आदमी सकुशल जीने के लिए हर जगह पर एक घेरा डालता है, वह अंततः अपने ही घेरों के बीच कैद हो जाता है और जिंदगी का कोई मजा उसे नहीं मिल पाता क्योंकि जोखिम से बचने की कोशिश में असल में उसने जिंदगी को ही आने से रोक रखा है।

जिंदगी से अंत में हम उतना ही पाते हैं जितना की पूंजी उसमें लगाते हैं। यह पूंजी लगाना जिंदगी के संकटों का सामना करना है। उसके उस पन्ने को उलट कर पढ़ना है जिसके सभी अक्षर फूलों से ही नहीं कुछ अंगारों लिखे गए हैं। 

जिंदगी का भेद कुछ उसे ही मालूम है जो यह जानकर चलता है कि जिंदगी कभी भी खत्म ना होने वाली चीज है। 

अरे ओ जिंदगी के साधकों ! अगर किनारे की भरी हुई सीपियों से ही तुम्हें संतोष हो जाए तो समुद्र के अंतराल में छुपे हुए मौक्तिक कोष को कौन बाहर लाएगा। 

दुनिया में जितने मजे बिखेरे गए हैं उनमें तुम्हारा भी हिस्सा है. वह चीज भी तुम्हारी हो सकती है, जिसे तुम अपनी पहुंच के परे मानकर लौटे जा रहे हो। 

कामना का आंचल छोटा मत करो। जिंदगी के फल को दोनों हाथों से दबा कर निचोड़ो, रस की निर्झरी तुम्हारे बहाए भी बह सकती है।

साहस की ताकत – Short Moral Story in Hindi

पुराने जमाने में एक राजा हुआ करता था, जिसे सब सनकी राजा मानते थे। वाकई में वह राजा सनकी था क्योंकि छोटी-छोटी गलतियों पर वह किसी को भी मृत्यु दंड दे देता था। राजा के महल में 30 फूलदानियाँ बहुत ही सुन्दर तरीके से सजी होती थीं और इन फूलदानियों के संग्रह को अपने महल में आने वाले सभी अतिथियों को राजा दिखाया करते थे। एक दिन उनका सेवक उन फूलदानियों की सफाई कर रहा था, सफाई करने के दौरान सेवक का हाथ एक फूलदानी से लग गया और वह गिरकर टूट गयी। राजा को जब इस बात का पता चला तो उसनें उस सेवक को फांसी पर लटकाने का आदेश दे दिया। उनके राज्य में एक बुढ़ा व्यक्ति हुआ करता था, जब उस बूढ़े को यह बात पता चली वह फ़ौरन राजा के पास गया और उस फूलदानी को जोड़ने की बात कही। इस प्रकार वह बुढ़ा व्यक्ति फूलदानी रखे हुए स्थान पर पहुंचा।

जैसे ही बूढ़े व्यक्ति ने देखा कि सारे फूलदानी, उसकी नजरों के सामने हैं उसनें फ़ौरन उन सभी को लाठी से एक-एक करके तोड़ना शुरू कर दिया और देखते ही देखते सारे फूलदानी टूटकर बिखर गये।

राजा इस बात से बहुत क्रोधित हुआ और बोला, – अरे मुर्ख! तुमने यह क्या कर दिया? इसकी सजा जानते हुए तुमने सारे फुलदानियों को तोड़ डाला, तुम्हें भी मृत्युदंड दिया जाएगा।

इस पर बूढ़े व्यक्ति ने दृढ़ता से जवाब दिया, महाराज! एक फूलदानी के पीछे आप किसी को मृत्युदंड दे देते हैं, यदि हर फूलदानी के बदले आप हर व्यक्ति को मृत्यु दंड देंगे, भविष्य में 29 लोगों की जान जाने की संभावना थी क्योंकि हर फूलदानी के पीछे एक व्यक्ति की जान जा सकती थी इसलिए मैंने अपने इंसान होने का फ़र्ज़ निभाया है और आज मैंने 29 लोगों की प्राण बचाई है। अब आप शौक से मुझे फांसी दे सकते हैं, मुझे किसी भी तरह का दुःख नहीं होगा। बूढ़े व्यक्ति के साहस ने राजा की आँखें खोल दी। राजा को अपनी गलतियों का एहसाह हो गया और उसनें उस बूढ़े व्यक्ति व उस सेवक को माफ़ कर दिया और उनसे भी माफ़ी मांगी।

दोस्तों, जब हम साहस और निर्भीकता के साथ अपनी बात पर डटकर खड़े रहते हैं तो हम हर एक बुराई का अंत कर सकते हैं। इसके लिए जरूरी है हम साहसी बनें, कुछ गलत होते देखें तो चुप न बैठें, साहस और चरित्र का मेल ही कामयाबी दिलाता है।

What is Courage?

If we go to see for the actual or literal meaning of courage, it refers to “an act of bravery or to do a challenging task without being afraid”. Now, when we speak of doing a challenging or a difficult task that does not mean to go and act rashly or do some unlawful thing.

A courageous act can be a small act also which is done when a person overcomes his fear and then goes and performs the act. It can be anything, for example, a small girl who loves dancing but is afraid of the stage where she must perform. When she overcomes her fear and becomes brave enough to perform her dance, it is called a courageous act.

Why is Courage Important?

To be courageous or to have that much confidence to overcome our fear is courage. We fight our fear in our daily lives as well. For example, when a person goes for an interview, he or she will feel some kind of nervousness or anxiety or insecurity about his/ her skills.

These feelings and the emotional state of mind can affect one’s behavior and therefore, have a bad effect on his/ her interview. Therefore, it can be said that being courageous enough to make use of the given opportunity is a very essential factor in today’s world of competition.

We all know the hardships faced by every working person in our country. The hardships regarding studies, career, a person having a very good (but stressful) job, etc. all require some or the other courageous input to achieve the goal.

Even the first day of our college needs us to gather up some courage and make some good self-introduction and make some friends. The first impression is the best (or the last) impression. This is the most famous saying and therefore, we need to have enough courage to stand up for ourselves and make an impression.

Now, as there are some above mentioned situations where we need courage for our own benefit, similarly, there are other situations where we need to be brave, not for our benefit but for the entire society or our environment, etc.

For example, it takes courage for a person to fight against the injustice faced by him or his fellow companion. The best example of this can be of the farmers. Today’s situation of the farmers’ financial condition and the ongoing summer season is going to take a heavy toll on the farmer to earn the daily bread.

To fight against this condition, they need many things but courage will be the most basic thing required by all to at least stand up against the situation and demand for their rights.

There are many other unjust events happening in our daily lives, for example, eve teasing, a very bad aspect of today’s modern world. A girl has to face such rude and humiliating behavior everyday and neither the girl says anything against it nor does the people around her come to her aid to support if she is courageous enough to oppose to such public humiliation.

This is the real problem that is along with courage, one needs proper support and guidance to fight such events and bring out a change for the betterment of the society.

All these were examples of how a person needs courage and proper morals to fight for the injustice faced by himself and others. It is very difficult to keep up your morals and therefore, gather up the necessary courage to fight against the wrong situations.

Therefore, in todays date, it is even rarer to find a person with the proper morals required to live a satisfactory life.

Another aspect of having courage comes with adventurous activities. This type of courage is required to go on carrying physical adventurous activities. Many people of scared of adventures and therefore, they do not know how exhilarating it feels after completing the adventurous tasks or activity.

For example, a person wants to go scuba diving or sky diving but is afraid of the water or the height and the speed or maybe the pressure or anything which he finds will hurt him physically. Now, a person needs courage to overcome this fear and therefore, go ahead and live that adventure.

No third person is involved in pushing away one’s fear in case of such physical activities. The person should be brave enough and should have that mind set, that yes, he needs to jump of the cliff (adventure only) and then only will he be able to live the adventure and enjoy it to the fullest.

There are similar sensitive topics where courage is the need. We have the required strength to fight against the black holes but we do not have enough courage or we do not have the trigger that is needed to fight these social demons as well as our personal fears.

Courage is not a feeling neither is it an emotion, it is a trigger which when triggered with enough force can make wonders and bring in a change in his life as well as in the society to live the better and face the bitter aspects of life.

These are different aspects of life which may include some adventures, some social stressful situations, personal issues, etc. which require courage at both, physical as well as the moral level to overcome the fear and be brave enough to live our lives satisfactorily.

प्रार्थना मनुष्य की श्रेष्ठता की प्रतीक है क्योंकि यह उसके और परमात्मा के घनिष्ठ संबंधों को दर्शाती है । हरएक धर्म में प्रार्थना का बड़ा महत्व है । सभी धर्म-गुरुओं, ग्रंथों और संतों ने प्रार्थना पर बड़ा बल दिया है । उन्होंने प्रार्थना को मोक्ष का द्वार कहा है ।

प्रार्थना में परमेश्वर की प्रशंसा, स्तुति, गुणगान, धन्यवाद, सहायता की कामना, मार्गदर्शन की ईच्छा, दूसरों का हित चिंतन आदि होते हैं । प्रार्थना चुपचाप, बोलकर या अन्य किसी विधी से की जा सकती है । यह अकेले और सामूहिक, दोनों रूपों में होती है । यह ध्यान के रूप में या किसी धर्म ग्रंथ के पढ़ने के रूप में भी हो सकती है ।

प्रार्थना में माला, जाप, गुणगान पूजा संगीत आदि का सहारा लिया जाता है । बिना किसी ऐसे साधन के भी प्रार्थना की जा सकती है । प्रार्थना करने की कोई भी विधि अपनाई जा सकती है, और सभी श्रेष्ठ हैं । प्रार्थना एक तरह से परमेश्वर और भक्त के बीच बातचीत है । इस में भक्त भगवान को अपनी सारी स्थिति स्पष्ट कर देता है कुछ छिपाता नहीं ।

इसमें जितनी सच्चाई, सफाई, तन्मयता और समर्पण-भाव होगा, वह उतना ही प्रभावकारी होगी । प्रार्थना कभी भी और कहीं भी की जा सकती है, परन्तु प्रात: और सायं नियमित रूप से करना बहुत लाभदायक रहता है । प्रार्थना का स्थान भी शांत, स्वच्छ, मनोरम, और खुला होना चाहिये ।

यह ऐसा होना चाहिये कि ध्यान नहीं बंटे और जहां शोरगुल न हो । मंदिर, मस्जिद, चर्च आदि इसके लिए अच्छे स्थान माने जाते हैं । प्रकृति की गोद में भी, कहीं भी, प्रार्थना करने में बड़ी सहायता मिलती हैं । प्रार्थना में मन की एकाग्रता बहुत आवश्यक है ।

प्रार्थना से बड़ा बल, विश्वास, प्रेरणा, आशा और सही मार्गदर्शन मिलता है । ऐसा करने से विनाश होता है और मानवीय गुण जैसे दया, अहिंसा, ममता, परोपकार, सहनशीलता, सहयोग, सादगी, उच्च विचार आदि पैदा होते हैं, उनका विकास होता है । विपत्ति, निराशा और संकट के समय प्रार्थना से बड़ा बल, आत्मविश्वास और शांति मिलती हैं । प्रार्थना से उलझनें सुलझ जाती हैं, शक्ति मिलती है, दु:ख के बादल छंट जाते हैं, और अंधकार में प्रकाश मिल जाता है ।

इस प्रकार प्रार्थना का मनोवैज्ञाकि महत्व भी कम नहीं है । मन की शांत करने, बुद्धि को एकाग्र करने, संस्कारों को श्रेष्ठ बनाने और आत्मविश्वास प्रापत करने का यह एक अनुपम साधन है । यह एक ऐसी आध्यात्मिक क्रिया है जिसमें धैर्य, ऊर्जा, पवित्रता, चरित्र की दृढ़ता जैसे गुण विद्यमान हैं । इसके द्वारा दूसरों का भी बड़ा भला किया जा सकता है । प्रार्थना के बल पर संतों, साधुओं, पैगम्बरों, आदि ने वह सब कुछ कर दिखाया है जो असंभव लगता है ।

महात्मा गांधी प्रतिदिन अपना बहुत समय प्रार्थना में बिताते थे । वे प्रार्थना के महत्व को भलीभांति समझते थे । शाम को प्रतिदिन वे सार्वजनिक प्रार्थना सभा करते थे । उन जैसा नैतिक साहस वाला दूसरा व्यक्ति आज तक 20वीं शताब्दी में नहीं हुआ । यह सब प्रार्थना का ही प्रभाव था ।

वे मानते थे कि प्रार्थना व्यक्ति को उसकी तुच्छता का एहसास कराकर विनम्र बनाती है, चरित्र उत्रत करती है, और निराशा में आशा का संचार करती है । वे कहते थे कि प्रार्थना अपने हृदय की खोज है, जो हमें बताती है कि ईश्वर के बिना हम बिल्कुल पंगु और असहाय हैं । वे कहते थे कि अपना दिन प्रार्थना से प्रारंभ करो और उसका अंत भी प्रार्थना से ।

प्रार्थना बहुत अद्‌भुत है क्योंकि इससे असंभव भी संभव है । अनेक असाध्य रोगी इससे ठीक होते देखे गये हैं । इससे बुरे-विचार नष्ट होते हैं और अच्छे विचारों को बल मिलता है । यह परमपिता के प्रति अपनी कृतज्ञता का प्रकाशान है ।

इस संबंध में प्रसिद्ध अंग्रेज कवि कॉलरिज ने बहुत सुन्दर कहा है:

He prayeth best, who loveth best,

All things both great and small;

For the dear God who loveth us,

He made and loveth all.
