Ginger beer, vodka and lime come together in a crisp and refreshing trifecta only made better by the rustic appeal of a hand-crafted copper mug. The traditional copper mug is designed with a brass handle and hammered finish to ensure that your Mule stays ice-cold  (not that it’ll last long.)

The Perfect Moscow Mule Recipe

AUTHENTIC MOSCOW MULE

Ingredients

Copper mug Fresh lime Ice 2 oz vodka (Recommend: Tito’s) 6 oz Cock’n Bull Ginger Beer (or a similar spicy brew) Fresh mint sprigs

• Squeeze ~1 oz lime juice into Copper Mug and place remaining peel at the bottom
• Add desired ice (the more the better)
• Pour in vodka
• Add ginger beer
• Garnish with fresh mint sprigs
• Stir and enjoy

The Moscow Mule History

Since Moscow Mules first appeared in the 1940s, buying bulk copper mugs has been essential for all bars, restaurants, and events who are considering proper presentation. There are clear indications that using solid Copper Moscow Mule Mugs enhance the individual flavors of the ginger beer, vodka, and lime. Experts say that when vodka touches the walls of the mug, the copper begins to oxidize, slightly boosting the aroma, and enhancing the taste of the vodka.

Cold copper also has a tendency to increase the amount of bubbles in the carbonated ginger beer, bringing maximum fizziness to the Moscow Mule, when compared to being served in a plastic or glass container. When these three flavors reach their maximum potential, they work together to prove that the Moscow Mule deserves its home among classic American cocktails.

While there are a number of options for cocktails, many of glass, copper truly is the cocktail-cup royalty when it comes to the mule. Not only is it perfectly suited to keep the temp of your chilly, bubbly Moscow Mule, but copper is a natural substance and is highly durable to everyday impacts and the inevitable effects of time. Ultimately, its conductivity makes it an ideal choice for cold beverages with complex combinations of flavors–like the Moscow Mule!

Technically speaking, you can drink anything (within reason!) in a copper mug. However, you should NOT drink hot liquids from a copper mug–or anything made of pure copper. Copper is very conductive, which helps it keep cold beverages cold, but would make the mug dangerously hot to the touch if it contained a hot drink. Keep it iced, stay cool. Copper Mugs are perfect for chilled cocktails, but are not insulated for warm drinks.

Yes. However, it is more accurate to say that copper mugs are not unhealthy to drink from. They do provide some level of resistance to bacterial build-up but should be washed regularly (like anything else you eat or drink from).

A Moscow Mule does not have to be in a copper mug–that is, unless you want to do it right. A true Moscow Mule will come in a copper mug not only because it was originally served this way, but also because the temperature-conserving properties and other qualities of copper enhance the bubbly, spicy, refreshing experience of a Moscow Mule.

Without moving parts in an SSD-powered laptop, you can toss it in a computer bag, jostle it about on your way to a meeting and pop it open to an almost instant display for a presentation.

An average SSD drive operates at 500 MB per second read speed and an estimated 400 MB per second for write speed. SSD systems are 10 times faster at everything compared with traditional hard drives. Because SSD drives contain no moving parts, there is no electric-powered “boot” cycle, and your SSD is quieter and cooler while you work.

What Size SSD Do I Need?

Storage capacity in SSDs has increased rapidly in recent years. Most work or personal use can be performed using solid-state drives in the 120 GB to 480 GB storage range. This may seem limited compared with large terabyte hard drives on the market, but SSD systems are designed for durability, performance and efficiency.

SSD systems operate at peak capabilities when needed, and excess storage needs can be accomplished via external storage options such as external hard drives and cloud-based drives such as Google Drive, Dropbox and Box.

For most computer users, SSDs in the 120 GB to 480 GB range offers plenty of space for a computer operating system along with programs. Many computer users store files such as documents, images, audio and video files using external drives and/or cloud-based solutions. Some others rely on companies such as Google or Microsoft for document storage, Amazon for book storage, Spotify for music and Google Play for purchased movies and television shows. Today’s web-based, cloud-oriented computer world has helped pave the way for SSDs, although with smaller capacities compared with spinning-disk hard drives, to soar in usage and popularity.

SSDs may be formatted quickly and easily using Windows and Macintosh computers to erase all stored data.

How to Format SSD Windows 10

To format SSD on Windows 10, connect the drive to your computer and open Disk Management by pressing the Windows key and “R” to open the “run” dialog box. Key in “diskmgmt.msc.” Now right-click the solid-state drive partition and select “Format.”

In the pop-up window, you can label the volume, change the file system and perform a quick format. Only SSD partitions whose sizes are smaller than or equal to 32 GB can be formatted from NTFS to FAT32 through the Disk Management app.

Some advise to check the “Quick Format” box, saying that, otherwise, your computer will go through a full format, possibly shortening the life of your SSD. With traditional hard drives, fully formatting a drive is acceptable.

How to Format SSD on Mac

To format SSD on a Mac, connect the drive to your computer. External solid-state drives can be connected using USB or Thunderbolt cables, and internal SSDs can be linked up using external enclosures.

Launch the Utilities option via the “Go” menu in the Finder. Launch the Disk Utility app and click on the icon for the drive you’d like to format.

Next, open the “Erase” tab, located at the top of the Disk Utility window. Change the volume format menu to “Mac OS Extended (Journaled).” You can then edit the name of the solid-state drive in the “Name” field. Finally, click on “Erase.”

Pro-Palestine protesters crash CNN anchor Dana Bash's book event: 'Harassment'

WASHINGTON (TND) — Multiple pro-Palestine protesters on Thursday crashed a book tour event thrown by Jewish CNN anchor Dana Bash in Washington, D.C.

Bash was at Politics and Prose Bookstore in Washington, D.C., to promote her new book “America’s Deadliest Election: The Cautionary Tale of the Most Violent Election in American History.” Video shared by her co-anchor, Jake Tapper, shows a masked protester berating Bash over her coverage of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

“You belong behind bars,” the demonstrator called. “We know who you are, we know what you’re saying. It’s not a war, it’s never been a war, it is ethnic cleansing.”

The protester continued shouting despite event organizers asking them to calm down.

Take your mask off,” Bash fired back as officers escorted the demonstrator out.

After the first protester left the building, another one took their place, again screaming at Bash over her coverage of the war.

You call yourself a good journalist?” the second protester called. “Report the truth. But instead you want millions from Zionists, you want millions from AIPAC.”

Members of the audience called out the protester, also encouraging them to remove their mask.

Tapper, who is also Jewish, took to X to condemn the demonstrators' actions.

“These protesters target Dana at her home and this event because she’s Jewish,” he wrote. “There is nothing about her coverage of the Israel-Hamas war that is different from most other news coverage, covering both Jewish/Israeli and Palestinian pain. This harassment is antisemitism.”

CNN did not respond to a request for comment from The National Desk (TND) regarding the incident prior to publication.

Democrats have been highly critical of the news outlet in the lead-up to the November presidential election. A slew of Democratic lawmakers and commentators expressed frustration in June over CNN moderators failing to "fact check" former President Donald Trump during the first presidential debate.

Bookpeople’s top 7 list.

Thanks to everyone for being such great customers and supporters of BookPeople of Moscow. Our first year has been going great thanks to all of you; please know that we don’t take you for granted. We look forward to each and every person who comes through the door and we are really loving getting to know everyone.

We’ll call this the  BookPeople Top 7 List  this time since I can’t think of 10 things to include. Too much election night loss of sleep I guess!

6.  BookPeople will kick off our “Thanks for shopping indie” campaign on Friday, November 23rd (the day after Thanksgiving). The store will open early at 8 am and be open until 8 pm (our usual closing time on Fridays.) The campaign features some great book choices – some might already be on your wish list!

5.  Our holiday book catalog is now available to help inspire gift ideas for family and friends – pick one up the next time you’re in the store. Our goal is to have every book in the catalog available in the store throughout the holiday season.

4.  Our website is getting closer to launching and we look forward to everything that comes with having a good website: the ability for our customers to order almost any book from us online and either have it shipped or pick it up in the store, the ability to purchase ebooks from us, an easy to use online calendar showing all the upcoming store readings and events, and more. When our website is live we’ll send you the link so you can check it out for yourselves!

And, along with selling ebooks, we’ll have Kobo ereaders available for sale very shortly – the great indie alternative to other, more proprietary ereaders like the Kindle. Kobo’s motto: Read Freely. Our sentiments exactly.

3.  Starting the day after Thanksgiving, BookPeople will sponsor a “giving tree” in conjunction with “Christmas for Kids.” On the tree will be tags with the ages and genders of children who would love to receive books for Christmas but whose families can’t afford it. We encourage everyone to purchase a book to put under the giving tree; we will wrap them and be sure they get to the children on time. It can be a meaningful family project to choose books for the giving tree together. And, a huge thank you to the girl scout troop under the leadership of Amy Ball who decorated over a hundred lovely, glittery tags for the giving tree.

2.  Did you know? Proceeds from our used book sales go into the new BookPeople Community Fund, a source of money to assist teachers in getting books for their classrooms, to support local arts, to fund literary events, and to foster literacy. Please consider donating your used books to BookPeople, and help the Community Fund grow! The used books, by the way, are in the back of the store, just past the children’s area.

1.  Last but not least, you deserve a break. We want to make your holidays easier. So, on certain days, besides our usual super staff, we will have the benefit of incredibly knowledgeable children’s librarians and teachers volunteering in the store to help you find just the right books. We gift wrap for free (as always), and will also package and ship your gifts to their recipients, so you don’t have to! Let us stand in the post office line on your behalf – we’ll only charge you for the actual cost of the postage.

Ebook alternative and new website coming soon to BookPeople

Good news! The American Booksellers Association announced this week a new contract with Kobo, which will take effect in a few months and replace the ABA’s old agreement with Google ebooks that expires at the end of this year. Independent bookstores all over the country and the world will soon be working with Kobo through the ABA to offer an affordable and more flexible alternative to another more, ahem, proprietary ereader and ebook provider who shall not be named. Kobo offers applications that allow their books to be read on other devices such as Nooks and iPads. BookPeople will be launching its official website by the end of the year and with it, Kobo ebooks and perhaps Kobo e-readers. Sales proceeds from Kobo ebooks through our website will be shared between us and Kobo – making it possible for customers anywhere to support their favorite local bookstore and still enjoy digital books.
