It is argued that getting married before completing school or getting a job is not a good choice. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
I completely agree with the given idea that one should have a good financial base before starting a new life with their partner.
It is valued and highly recognized that one should complete their education before getting married as it builds one’s future and career. Also, an individual sometimes shifts their focus from studying to earning if they get married at an early stage of their life. For instance, a large number of people drop their colleges to support their families financially and lose a chance to complete their education. Hence, one should complete their education before they decide to get married.
Moreover, it is also important to understand that one should be financially stable and have a proper job before marrying someone. There are several duties and responsibilities that one has to take care of after getting married. In addition, an individual must earn as marriage comes with an increase in household expenditures. For example, when one starts a family, one needs to be economically stable to fulfil the new lifestyle.
To conclude, it is not a good decision to get married before finishing school or having a stable source of income.
Successful sports stars and famous film stars are role for models for today’s youngsters. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
In my view, these superstars can deeply impact one’s life and motivate them to work towards their goals.
With the advancement of technology and social media platforms, one can get easy access to what a film star is up to and constantly see their social media handles. Due to this, youngsters and teenagers can see all the projects that he/she is working on that can motivate them to do work hard on their goals. For example, Arijit Singh, who is one of the best singers in India, recently organized a challenge in which his fans had to sing one of his songs and post it on their Instagram. This challenge helped the youngsters to show their talent and also gained some popularity.
Moreover, there are also a lot of documentaries and interviews that are held in which the stars share their personal life stories and explain how they worked hard to achieve their dreams. As a result, this makes a young person realize the hardships of life. In addition, sports stars influence the today’s generation to stay active and energetic by going to the gym and exercising daily. To exemplify, Virat Kohli, an Indian cricketer currently launched his fitness app in which people can set up their own workout routine for themselves.
To conclude, it can be said that famous film stars and sportspersons shape the minds of youngsters these days helping them to move in the right direction.

Understanding PTE Essay Writing Requirements
Before diving into examples and tips, it’s essential to grasp the basic requirements of PTE essay writing:
- Time limit: 20 minutes
- Word count: 200-300 words
- Clear structure: Introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion
- Coherent arguments and relevant examples
- Proper grammar, vocabulary, and spelling
How to structure responses in PTE writing is crucial for achieving a high score. Let’s explore some effective strategies to enhance your essay writing skills.
PTE Essay Writing Examples
Example 1: agree/disagree essay.
Topic: “In the future, all cars should be electric. Do you agree or disagree?”
Introduction: As environmental concerns grow, the debate over transitioning to electric vehicles has gained momentum. While electric cars offer numerous benefits, there are also challenges to consider. This essay will examine both sides of the argument and present a balanced view on whether all cars should be electric in the future.
Body Paragraph 1: Electric cars undoubtedly have significant advantages. They produce zero direct emissions, reducing air pollution and combating climate change. Additionally, they are more energy-efficient and have lower operating costs compared to traditional combustion engine vehicles.
Body Paragraph 2: However, there are obstacles to universal adoption of electric cars. The current infrastructure for charging stations is inadequate in many areas, and the production of batteries raises environmental concerns. Moreover, the initial cost of electric vehicles remains high for many consumers.
Conclusion: While the transition to electric cars is desirable for environmental reasons, a complete shift may not be feasible in the immediate future. A gradual approach, combining improved electric vehicle technology with sustainable practices in traditional car manufacturing, may be more realistic and effective.
Example 2: Advantages/Disadvantages Essay
Topic: “Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of working from home.”
Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the trend of remote work, prompting many to consider the pros and cons of working from home. This essay will explore the advantages and disadvantages of this increasingly popular work arrangement.
Body Paragraph 1 (Advantages): Working from home offers several benefits. It eliminates commuting time and costs, provides a flexible schedule, and can lead to improved work-life balance. Additionally, remote work can increase productivity for some individuals by reducing office distractions and allowing for a personalized work environment.
Body Paragraph 2 (Disadvantages): However, working from home also presents challenges. It can lead to feelings of isolation and reduced social interaction with colleagues. Some people may struggle with maintaining work-life boundaries, leading to longer working hours and burnout. Furthermore, remote work may hinder collaboration and team-building efforts within organizations.
Conclusion: While working from home offers significant advantages in terms of flexibility and potential productivity gains, it also comes with drawbacks related to social interaction and work-life balance. The effectiveness of remote work largely depends on individual preferences and organizational support. As the workforce continues to evolve, a hybrid model combining both remote and in-office work may prove to be the most beneficial approach for many.

PTE Writing Tips: High-Scoring Strategies for Academic Essays
PTE is a big move for students and working professionals who are looking forward to studying, working, or settling in English-speaking countries. A good score in the writing section, especially the essay, can give you a good score altogether. In this guide, we will cover essential PTE writing tips and strategies to help you master essay writing, earn top scores, and understand what it takes to succeed in the PTE Academic Writing section. The PTE Academic Writing module tests to what extent you can converse your thoughts clearly and understandably in English. Scoring at a very high level is much more than merely good grammar only; one must understand the purpose for which one is writing, how best to be structured, and what their job calls for in writing terms. Writing is divided into two main tasks: an essay and summarise written text. In this blog, we will focus more on the essay-writing aspect. We will discuss PTE essay tips , the structure of your responses, and techniques to achieve clarity and coherence. The tips will help you achieve high-scoring essays and answer every requirement of the PTE exam .
Let’s understand what PTE Academic Writing is all about, and the scoring criteria, before delving into specific writing strategies.
The PTE Writing section comprises two tasks :
Essay Writing: You will be given a prompt for this assignment to write a 200-300 word essay. This task tests your ability to present and develop an argument, structure an essay, and use vocabulary and grammar effectively. The general run of prompts deals with topics like technology, education, or the environment.
Write from Dictation For this exercise, you will listen to a short sentence and then write it down verbatim. You are graded on your ability to listen and write as accurately as possible, paying attention to spelling and punctuation.
Both exercises require clarity and accuracy in order to receive good grades, but writing an essay is typically the more difficult task because one has to be organized and coherent while also making an effective argument.
PTE Essay Scoring Criteria
Knowing how your essay is scored will guide you on where to focus your effort. The major scoring considerations include the following: Content: Does your essay sufficiently address the prompt? Consider providing relevant arguments, examples, and ideas. Form : PTE essays are formal. They have an introduction, body paragraphs, and then a conclusion. Length: 200-300 words; if too short or too long, it can cost you some marks. Vocabulary and Grammar: Appropriate vocabulary and grammar of a wide range should be used. Very complex sentence structures, adequate punctuation, and proper utilization of words define excellent use of language. Coherence and Cohesion : Your ideas must flow logically from one sentence to the next and from paragraph to paragraph, with obvious connections between points.
Key PTE Writing Tips for Scoring High in Essays
Understand the prompt clearly.
Take one or two minutes before writing to analyze the prompt. Identify keywords and phrases that let you know what the question is asking for. If the prompt asks you to “Discuss the advantages and disadvantages,” then you will discuss both sides. You will lose several points on the score for not completely answering the question.
Plan Your Essay Structure
A well-structured essay forms the crux of providing a good argument. Your essay would ideally be structured in such a way as follows:
Introduction: Introduce the subject briefly and give a concise statement of the thesis for your essay on a key point or assertion that the essay makes. For your essay, use 1-2 sentences to help contextualize what you think.
Body Paragraphs: Each paragraph deals with a major point. With the topic sentence, proceed with the supporting argument or examples. This is how you keep in line with what you have to write about without diverting.
Conclusion: This is where you reiterate the paper’s thesis slightly in a different manner. That way, you remind your audience of your arguments and ensure that the thesis does not reveal some new information.
By following a structure you will be able to organize your ideas more smoothly and avoid confusion in the arguments.
Keep Your Sentences Clear and Concise
Do not write overly complicated sentences. Clarity is much better than complexity in PTE Academic Writing. Try writing clear and direct sentences using fewer words and simple sentence structures. This way, you will make your ideas clearer and easier to follow with fewer chances of grammatical mistakes.
Use varied vocabulary and grammar
Make liberal use of vocabulary and grammatical constructs to score well. Still, do not make liberal use of too technical words and phrases. Select those that would add to the clarity better. Seek variety in tense, clauses, and form of sentences. For example, mix up short with long sentences for increased readability; try using transitional words or phrases like “however”, “furthermore” and “on the other hand” to join the ideas.
Proofread and Edit
Now its time to review your essay. Check for spelling, grammar, or punctuation mistakes since these will cost you. Ensure that every sentence follows logically into the next and that you have addressed the prompt. This last moment of reviewing can be very crucial in increasing your score.
Common Mistakes to Avoid in PTE Writing
Failure to address all parts of the prompt.
Be sure to include every detail in the question. That is, if asked to both discuss advantages and disadvantages, include those considerations within the essay. Otherwise, the omission of key points might incur a loss of points.
Inferential Use of Repetitive Language
Reuse of vocabulary and coherence lowers your score in these areas. Mix up your word choice so that you’re not repeating the same ones again. Word choice and restatement will give you a wider variety of vocabulary and make this whole writing flow better.
Poor ideas may not have clarity in expression
PTE Writing needs a clear statement of ideas. Avoid fuzzy or vague statements and non-substantiated opinions instead express yourself through concrete evidence with elaboration. Maintain every paragraph with a single overarching theme which you are going to illustrate through the relevant evidence and substantiation.
Practice Exercises for High-Scoring PTE Essays
Write from dictation and summarize text practice.
Practice “Write from Dictation” by listening to sentences and writing them down. This will help you in accuracy in spelling as well as grammar. Summary of text is also useful as it sharpens your ability to condense ideas into clear and coherent sentences.
Use PTE Essay Examples for Reference
PTE essay samples will allow you to grasp the essay with a score well through reading and referring to several of these examples, keeping your eyes open for elements of structure, vocabulary use, and grammar use while studying different essays. How every point leads to each other would also be clearly understood.
Practice under actual time pressures
In PTE, time management is very critical. Begin writing essays with the help of time available in the paper so that one can feel confident. Plan your session in a way so that you can write essays without affecting their quality quickly.

The PTE exam is divided into four modules: reading, writing, speaking and listening. In the first part of the exam, you will complete the speaking and writing modules together. While your writing score will be evaluated through your responses to other questions as well, there are just two writing tasks: Summarise Written Text and Write Essay.
The PTE essay writing task is designed to assess your understanding of grammatical structures, vocabulary, spelling, and, most importantly, written communication skills. As a result, it’s crucial that you familiarise yourself with this section and know what to expect before taking the exam. Keep reading to learn about the essay writing task, how to attempt it, and how to gain an impressive score in this category.
PTE Writing Task
You will be given a 2 or 3 line question prompt expressing an opinion or assertion for this task. The question prompt can be composed in a variety of styles.
Some questions will prompt you with a generalised statement and ask you to elaborate on a particular aspect or pick a side.
Example : Some people think that teachers should be responsible for teaching students to judge what is right and wrong so that they can behave well. Others say that teachers should only teach students academic subjects. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Meanwhile, some prompts will ask you a direct question.
Example : Do you think the place where a person grew up helps him/her in accomplishing goals in life? Do you agree or disagree?
Following the prompt, you will be instructed to write a 200-300 word essay in response to the question. An introduction section, two main paragraphs that advance an idea, and finally, a conclusion should constitute the elements of the essay in the given order.
You have only 20 minutes to prepare, write, and edit your essay. As a result, it is critical that you practise this task several times well before the exam. For example, you might be required to discuss issues or solutions or to argue against or for a point of view. Likewise, you may need to debate whether you concur or disagree with a given statement.
Types of essays in PTE Writing Task
There are 4 essential Essay types in the PTE:
- Argument essay type: For this type of essay topic in the PTE, you are given two viable alternatives and are expected to choose and support one of them.
- Discussion essay type: Applicants are expected to write about a specific aspect of an issue that is being explored in depth in this type of essay.
- Problem-Solution essay type: candidates are given a problem and prompted to write about possible solutions to the problem.
- Opinion essay type: Candidates must express their thoughts on a specific topic.
Common Topics for each essay Type
The most effective way to prepare is to become acquainted with the most common types of topics in the PTE Write Essay. PTE essay topics can roughly be categorized as follows:
- law and policy
- Environment
Now let us take a look at example topics for each from past question papers.
- Do you think consumers should avoid over-packaged products or it is the responsibility of the producer to avoid extra packaging of products? Give your views or any relevant example with your own experience.
- What is the best invention of the last 100 years, the computer, antibiotics, the airplane, and explain why?
- Many people think regions affect successful people. What are your opinions about native regions and accomplished person influence on the regions they belong to?
- In some countries around the world, voting is compulsory. Do you agree with the notion of compulsory voting?
Discussion:
- Company Top level Authorities should or should not take employees’ suggestions or ideas to make any decisions
- Large shopping malls are replacing small shops. What is your opinion about this? Discuss with appropriate examples.
Problem/Solution:
- International travel and tourism make people prejudiced rather than broad-minded. What are its causes and what measures can be taken to solve this problem?
- There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important than the international music that is heard everywhere nowadays? Please provide a solution.
This list is obviously not exhaustive, because there are several other unusual question topics.
How to Prepare?
It is critical to prepare for any essay type that you might have to write in the PTE. Your score is influenced by how you present your response. You are evaluated in PTE Write Essay by utilizing good word choice and organizing your answer effectively and correctly while presenting your thoughts. In other words, your aim is to show your ability to use appropriate word choices – a solid command of vocabulary and organize them appropriately to eliminate ambiguity.
A good essay requires a precise and logical structure, and the PTE essay is no exception. In fact, PTE encourages a methodical structural approach with a simple introduction, main body, and closing paragraph, all of which are intended to improve the effectiveness of the computerized marking system.
The key feature of a high-scoring essay is that paragraphs pursue a natural progression of development. This means that the pattern of your passages should quickly recognize strong correlations from the first para to the next and so on. You must avoid writing unrelated loose elements and keep your content coherent.
The subject of your essay is critical, and it is graded by analyzing whether all parts of the issue have been covered in the response and whether offered information, examples, and explanations adequately support the test taker’s point of view.
When it comes to the essay, free your mind. Allow ideas to flow and prepare for a good debate. Be creative as much as possible but only if your approach does not deviate from the topic! If you do not discuss the subject, you will receive a 0 on all attributes.
You will also be granted the following points, which are quite simple to gain:
- 2 marks for no spelling mistakes
- 2 marks for no noticeable grammatical errors
- 2 marks for penning in between 200 and 300 words.
These should be simple marks that you should capitalise on.
To conclude, evaluate the prompt and plan what the question requires you to do. Determine the topic, key points to cover, and arguments to present. After that, you must make a decision regarding which side of the debate you will take. You can then sketch out a rough outline of the structure and content you want your essay to have. Finally, allow yourself a few moments to check for misspelled words, proper punctuation, and proper grammar.
Start practicing your PTE essay as much as possible prior to the test, and keep this advice handy to help you study – we’re confident you’ll do well!

- October 29, 2024
- Introduction
The PTE Writing section is critical for those aspiring to study or work in English-speaking countries.
It reflects your ability to use English effectively in both academic and professional environments . Moreover, it can significantly impact your chances of success in various visa applications.
Writing is an art. Mastering writing skills can be a game-changer for a competitive edge in the PTE exam.
If you want to excel in this section, you need more than just good grammar—you need strategy , practice, and the right tips.
This blog will give you a better understanding of the PTE Writing section and help you develop the necessary skills to express your ideas convincingly, eloquently, and confidently.
So, let’s embark on this journey!
Understanding the PTE Writing Section
The PTE Writing section assesses your ability to convey thoughts, opinions, and information through well-structured essays and concise summaries.
It consists of two main tasks:
- PTE Summarize Written Text : You summarize a passage in a single sentence.
- PTE Essay Writing : You write an argumentative essay of 200-300 words.
These tasks are evaluated by automated scoring algorithms that analyze your responses based on key linguistic features, such as coherence, grammar, and vocabulary.
Let’s dive into each task and explore some essential tips to help you succeed.
Summarize Written Text: Less Is More
In the Summarize Written Text task, you’ll read a passage of up to 300 words and write a single-sentence summary in 10 minutes.
The challenge? Summarizing the key points without exceeding 75 words.
Key Tips for Summarize Written Text
- Identify Key Concepts : Carefully read the passage and pinpoint the central theme and primary points. Don’t get bogged down by details; focus on the core message.
- Use Keywords : Identify essential keywords from the passage and incorporate them into your summary. This ensures your sentence remains aligned with the text’s core ideas.
- Be Concise : Stick to the word limit. Focus on the main idea and avoid lengthy explanations, examples, or personal opinions.
- Use Complex Sentences : Demonstrating a good command of complex sentences can enhance your score. However, ensure they are grammatically correct and clear.
- Practice Time Management : Give yourself enough time to read, plan, write, and check your summary within the 10-minute time limit.
Essay Writing: Structure and Substance Matter
In the Essay Writing task, you’ll have 20 minutes to craft an argumentative essay.
Your essay should be between 200–300 words, and the goal is to demonstrate your ability to construct logical arguments, use proper grammar, and express your ideas clearly.
Key Tips for Essay Writing
- Understand the Prompt : Don’t rush. Take a moment to fully understand the essay question. Identify if it requires an opinion, a balanced argument, or a problem-solution approach.
- Plan Before Writing : Outline your essay to organize your thoughts. This will help you avoid getting off-topic and will make your essay more coherent.
- Stick to the Structure : A well-structured essay includes an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Ensure each paragraph has a clear focus and supports your argument.
- Provide Examples : Backup your points with examples, statistics, or personal experiences. This adds weight to your arguments and shows a deeper understanding of the topic.
- Balance Your Argument : When the prompt asks for an opinion, provide a balanced perspective by considering both sides of the argument.
- Expand Your Vocabulary : Avoid using the same words repeatedly. Instead, showcase a diverse vocabulary. This is especially important for achieving a higher score in the linguistic range.
- Proofread : After finishing your essay, save a few minutes to review it for any grammar or spelling errors. A well-polished essay can make all the difference.
Key Tips for the Write Essay Task
- Plan Before You Write : Take a minute or two to plan your essay. Outline the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion to ensure a logical flow of ideas.
- Stick to the Prompt : Make sure your essay addresses the topic directly. If you drift off-topic, you’ll score zero points, no matter how well-written the essay is.
- Use the 4-Paragraph Structure : Your essay should follow a clear structure:
- Two body paragraphs, each developing a key idea
- Conclusion that summarizes your points
- Support Your Ideas : Back up your arguments with examples, explanations, or facts. This demonstrates critical thinking and shows your ability to engage with the topic.
- Use Cohesive Devices : Link your paragraphs using cohesive devices like “firstly,” “however,” and “in conclusion.” This helps your essay flow smoothly and logically.
- Vary Your Vocabulary : Use a range of synonyms and academic vocabulary. Avoid repetition by rephrasing ideas when necessary.
- Check Grammar and Spelling : Make sure every word is spelled correctly. Even a single spelling mistake could cost you marks.
- Also, proofread to catch any grammatical errors or awkward phrasing.
Mockmaster.AI can assist you in planning and proofreading your essays.
With its AI-driven feedback, you’ll quickly identify areas where you’re losing points, whether it’s because of weak arguments, poor grammar, or spelling mistakes.
Scoring in the PTE Writing Section
The PTE Writing section is graded based on several factors, including:
- Development and structure : How well you organize and develop your response.
- Coherence : The logical flow of your content.
- Linguistic range : The variety and accuracy of vocabulary and grammar.
- Spelling and mechanics : Correct spelling and sentence mechanics are crucial.
By focusing on these areas, you can increase your chances of scoring high.
10 Practical PTE Writing Tips for Better Scores
To further sharpen your skills, here are ten practical tips that will give you a competitive edge:
- Follow the format : Understand and stick to the essay and summary formats.
- Address all aspects of the prompt : Fully respond to all parts of the question.
- Keep sentences simple : Avoid overly complex sentences that may confuse the reader.
- Present ideas logically : Ensure your response flows logically from one point to the next.
- Avoid jargon : Use a formal tone and academic language.
- Expand your vocabulary : Study new words and practice using them.
- Practice grammar : Strong grammar skills are essential for high scores.
- Ensure cohesion : Use transitional phrases to connect your ideas smoothly.
- Vary your topics : Practice with diverse essay and summary topics to improve adaptability.

Hi, Can you please change this template so that we are able to put topic sentence instead of just keywords? Looks like only using topic keyword in the template is not working anymore. I need 79+.
will this template help me to achieve 79+ score in real exam? please reply
Yes. This template is working perfectly so far. But keep in mind that essay question alone will get you to 79. You need to do other questions well.
I have heard that there is a new change in PTE that checks these templates. Is it really true? Has this template recently worked?
My students have been using this template for a good score. So far, it is working just fine.
This week, I got low marks in writing in the PTE exam because I used the Language Academy essay template. The same is also applicable to Describe Image and Retell Lecture in speaking. Are there any changes in the marking algorithms? Is it still safe to use your essay template as well as DI & RL templates?
If you have used templates from Language Academy and still got low marks, the reason might not be the template. Score for Writing does not only depend on the essay question but also on questions from Reading and the Listening sections. Therefore, just changing the format will not mean the scores will change. However, you can freely use the format provided here. My students use them regularly and get good scores. Feel free to use this template Gurman. It works 100 percent.
Have you given exam did you use this?
Hi will this template work till February 2025
As long as no changes are made by Pearson, this template should work forever. However, we update the format from time to time just to refresh things.
I am going to take PTE next week. Can I still use this template in WE and still have a good score up to this time?
If you can type an essay without making any mistakes in grammar and spelling, any format would work. Heck, you can even type random nonsense and get good score in the test. The AI only detects typing accuracy and keywords.
Thank you for your reply.
Hi did you used this template. Is it working?
Hi, I just watched one youtube video about the latest change in PTE 2023 (he just uploaded on 23/9/2023). He mentioned that ONE WORD template seems to give you lower marks than full-sentence template, is that true?
It is not correct Adam. You can safely use the template provided here.
Hi admin I have heard many people said that using this type of template will make you get 0 score. I’m just afraid if this still works bc I want to ensure that I at least get a good score in writing essays
You will not get 0 if you use this format. You can see many comments here of candidates who used this template and scored well. In fact, I am a PTE instructor, and my students have been using this format successfully for a long time. If you can type this format correctly without any mistakes, I can guarantee that you will ace your essay question.
hi Gaurav, is this format still working in 2024?
Yes. Go ahead and use it. Good luck.
Thanks for sharing, but can we use the terms advantages/ disadvantages, cause/ effect and problems/solution in one assay? Don’t we have to put them according to the type of assay question?
You can use this format as it is.
how do you know that template is working or not in a real PTE exam?
My students are still using this format in their tests with good results. So, you can be assured that this works.
how do you know that template is working in real PTE exam?
This template definitely works. I took my PTE exam on last Monday and scored a perfect 90 in all sections while using this essay template.
Congratulations Oswin.
Hi gaurav thanks for the template, just wanted to ask if we put in the keywords as you mentioned as in the following essay, some websites and even grammly gives grammar errors, as the keywords need to start with “the” or “a” for that matter. can you help ?
A serious amount of worldwide attention has been drawn to the topic of “the” use of car . Because of the existence of evidence in favor of as well as against the approval of “an” alternative means of transportation , the issue of “the” environment has been a point of critical concern. Consequently, this essay is going to be about alternative means of transportation , and I will implore the advantages and disadvantages of use of car with the assistance of likely causes, effects, and solutions in order to reach a resolution on environment with the help of reasons and examples.
Due to the preponderance of positive arguments regarding alternative means of transportation , people have embraced the significant role that the matter of environment plays and the merits of the situation about environment . Essentially, we cannot ignore that the question of environment is decisive. For instance, there are people who analyze the pros of use of car along with the causes before acceptance.
Generally, along with the demerits of use of car , the impacts also demand careful analysis. Here, we cannot overlook that certain assertions give rise to the idea that the consequence of use of car is terrible as there are plenty of examples where inadvertent implications of alternative means of transportation have been discovered.
In conclusion, despite the claims put forward in this essay, it is apparent that the impact and the outcome of use of car are disputable. Just examining the merits of alternative means of transportation is futile because there are refutations relating to use of car which muddle the case.
Thank god Grammarly isn’t used to check PTE essays. Omitting articles in places where they are absolutely essential is a big mistake. However, in the essay template here, articles can safely be avoided because the structures are correct with or without one. Yes, inserting the articles as you have pointed out makes the sentences better, but the sentences are not wrong without the articles.
🙂 thanks bro, appreciate your prompt reply.
this template is not working dont use it
You should know that the Essay question carries very low marks in terms of the overall Writing score in the PTE test. Out of 90, this question does not even carry 12 marks. The most important questions for Writing are Write from Dictation in the Listening section and the two types of Fill in the Blanks in the Reading section. Learn more about PTE marking here: https://www.pteielts.com/pte-marking-system-2023/#The_complete_PTE_Score_Guide_2023_for_all_20_question_types_in_PTE
dude my all other mudule was write i just got 50% in extended writing
Check your writing man. You misspelled “module” and “right” even in this comment. I seriously doubt if you can type correctly. Maybe that is the reason you did not score well.
this template is not working in language academy application. but i was putting this template in apeuni , i got 15 /15marks.
Sir can i use this template without any risk? because it will 2nd attempt Paper.
The most important thing to know is that Essay question carries only a small amount of marks in the PTE test. Write from Dictation, Summarize Spoken Text, and Fill in the Blanks questions are more important. Even if you get the full score in Essay question, your overall Writing score might still be less. Please keep that in mind.
As far as Essay questions are concerned, this template will get you the full score. Different practice softwares like ApeUni and Language Academy have their own system of marking, but this format is perfectly designed to get the full score in the actual PTE test.
Hi did you use is it working?
and one of my friend used other template and he got 80% in extended writing
Hi, Gaurav I have memorized the old template, Can I use old templete? Thanks…
Yes. I made this new format just for a change. You can still use the old one.
Hi, I was wondering if this template is worked for band 7 or more?
This works for a full score. But remember Writing marks depend on other questions as well.
Is it really work in real exam ?
Can i use this template in real exam? I am afraid if this template goes wrong for me plz guide me in proper way.
This template is working as of August 2023. Please feel free to use it.
is this template still works ? Because i’m going to give exam in next week
It works Dikshit. Please share your experience after your results.
im giving exam at 29th i will let you know what ever it is
did you use this template during your real PTE test?
Hi did you write this essay your exam and does this essay works please tell me.
This template doesn’t give direct examples and rationale arguments or reasons related to the main topic. will not that impact the score in terms of content, logic, coherence and cohesion? Is it really safe to use it despite all of that? and what about plagiarism, if other students use it on the same exam, the algorithm will not caught them?
The algorithm used by PTE does not detect the things you have mentioned. So, please be assured that this template works. To know more about how the PTE software works, visit this page: https://www.pteielts.com/pte-marking-system-2023/
How much template in this PTE essay
HI Admin, your essay template is working, please let me know I’m going to memorize it, i used a different essay template in my first exam and did not work.
It works Alex, so don’t worry about using it. However, remember that doing well in the essay question alone will not get you a high score in the test.
thank you so much for your reply, how many formats are, and can i use it for any topics, eg, problem or adv, disadv and agree, disagree
You can use this format here for any type of essay. Best of luck.
God bless you, I will share my experience after the exam.
hi bro, how about your exam especially about your essay? is this template works?
hello, did you use this template? how’s your exam?
Hi Ali, how did your exam goes? Did the template works? planning to take the exam this October.
“It has long been a subject of discussion whether (topic) or not. In my opinion, the former notion has several elements ……”
does this essay template still work?
I am not sure which essay template you are talking about. But, if it did work in the past, then it should also be working now. Unlike several claims made online, you can use whichever format you like provided that there are no grammatical or spelling mistakes.
But if you want to be on the safe side, you can use the format provided here. Best of luck.
Do not use this template. I got very low mark from writing because of this. Such a scam
I am so sorry to hear about your score Lou. But have you considered that the essay question alone contributes very low marks for the overall Writing score? In fact, out of 90, only about 11 marks depend on essay question. Instead of Write Essay questions, Write from Dictation and Summarize Spoken Text questions are more important for the Writing section.
is it workable i m afraid to use it. My exam on 7th july
Feel free to use it Ketan. My students have used this format as recently as last Sunday to get a good score in the test.
Hi did you use this template, does it works?
Is this Template Still Working?
Yes it is. The rumor that old templates are not working may be true, but this template is a new one.
I used this template in the real PTE test yesterday. Sadly, I think it doesn’t work. I got 75 in writing. I have checked all the grammars for every keywords in the essay too. However, I got 2 essays. Is it because I use the same templates for both of the essays? I will write without template in the future.
I am sorry to hear that you got only 75 in Writing. Although 75 is a good score, I think you needed 79+. Anyway, the reason is not using this template twice. You should remember that Writing score in the PTE test depends not only on Write Essay question but also on Summarize Written Text, Reading and Writing Fill in the Blanks, Summarize Spoken Text, Listening Fill in the Blanks and Write From Dictation. So, you have to do well in those questions as well to get a high score in Writing. To understand PTE scoring better, go to this link: https://www.pteielts.com/pte-marking-system-2023/
Same this template doesn’t work I got 62 but other parts like speaking and reading i Got 80+
I have my test tomorrow. Please assure me it is still working as I know some templates don’t work anymore.
It works like a charm Jessica. But always remember, only using this format cannot guarantee the full score in Writing. You have to put more effort on Write from Dictation, Summarize Spoken Text, Fill in the Blanks, and other questions.
How many essay writing appear in the exam?
Sometimes you get one, while other times you get two. You can use the same template twice if you get two essay questions. Go to this page for a complete breakdown of the PTE test format: https://www.pteielts.com/pte-test-format/
Thanks Gaurav
Hello, every body. is the template useful for PTE test to get high band in writing ? and not as plagiarism ? However, this is first time for me to do this test if some one get high band when used this template pleas let me know thank you
Don’t worry bro. Just don’t make any mistake while typing this format.
Ok .Thank you for your response 🌸
this template is very useful in PTE exam…. and thanks
I appreciate your feedback Sachin.
The above essay template is still working or not?
Test takers have used this essay format as recently as May 2023 for a perfect score in PTE. So go ahead and use it in your own test. Best of luck.
Thanks for your response.
In June 2023 anyone using the same template because many YouTube videos are saying one word template is not working? In June 2023 two essays instead of one appear in writing module?
You can use this or any other similar template in the PTE test. The template can have one-word topic or multiple words. The only things that matter are correct grammar and spelling.
Also, you might get one or two essays in the test. It is randomly decided, so it depends on your luck.
If two essays appear in the exam we can use the same template or we can use different templates for both essay?
You can use the same format twice.
Can this PTE structure be used for a agree/disagree essay or problem solving essay or any other type of essay it would be?
Yes this structure can be used for any essay type asked in the PTE test. You just need to use the right keywords. Best of luck.
Hi Gaurav, please confirm is this essay templet is still working?? I am planning to give PTE test soon. I have tried with multiple essays and this templet is very usable.
Just wanted to confirm once can I use this in the PTE exam?
Prompt response will be highly appreciated.
Dear Gunjan, as of May 2023, test takers are still using this template in the PTE test and reporting a high score in the Writing section. So, don’t hesitate to use it in your own test.
However, you should keep in mind that only Essay questions will not get you a high score in the Writing section. Write from Dictation, Reading & Writing: Fill in the Blanks, Summarize Spoken Text and Summarize Written Text questions carry more marks for Writing than Essay questions.
Anyway, good luck for your test.
I don’t get this sentence. To understand easily can you rephrase? For example, there are individuals who analyze the benefits of [topic keyword] along with the causes before adoption.
Here you go: Before adopting (something), people analyze its benefits and causes.
Thank you for answering my question. Does this “something” need to be a keyword?
Yes. Best of luck for your PTE preparation.
Has anyone tested this strategy on a real PTE exam?
yes, i used the templates and got 90 on writing
Kindly, are you surely this template still working?
Yes, it works.
Is the essay templet still working or no ?
It works. This PTE essay template will get you the full score.
Yes it works perfectly fine. Using this template will definitely get you the full score on this item.

What if I just use the same keyword always instead of changing. can I get a high score ? in two examples you changed the keywords. is it necessary? thanks
You can use the same keyword if you don’t feel like changing it. It doesn’t matter.
thanks, I’m exercising with APEuni and following your template, using the same keyword for all the sentences, I’m getting 14/15 which is pretty good for me. I’m loosing one point on Development, structure and coherence almost all the time.
Although you are getting 14/15 on ApeUni, you will get full 15 on the actual PTE test. Best of luck.
Isn’t this plagiarism? Won’t the computer notice?
Honestly speaking, it is plagiarism. Ideally, a test taker should learn how to write an argumentative essay alongside using correct grammatical structures and appropriate vocabulary. However, my personal experiments as well as those done by others all over the world have proved that you can use a ready-made template in the test. In fact, everyone can use the same template over and over again, but the computer doesn’t care.
Therefore, it is up to the candidate appearing for the PTE test to decide whether they want to go the proper route by improving their essay writing ability or simply “cheat” the test by copying this format provided here. If the essay fulfils the criteria mentioned in this article, you can score good in the test. Plagiarism, it seems, isn’t a criteria.
is it workable i m afraid to use it
It is perfectly fine to use this ready-made essay in your own PTE test. It has been tried in the actual test with success. However, you should remember that only doing this question perfectly doesn’t mean you will get full score in the Writing module. There are other questions to worry about as well. Such an easy PTE essay template to remember. Thank you so much.
I am happy that you liked my PTE essay template.
Sir I am not good in Reading please give me the tricks
If you are not already very good in answering Reading questions, you can start learning all the rules of grammar. Most questions are based on your knowledge of grammar. However, if you don’t have much time, you can practice all the past questions, which are easily available online. Most questions in the test are repeated. Best of luck.

The Best Tips & Tricks To Write A PTE Essay
Share article:
Writing your PTE essay will not be difficult if you follow a system and practice writing essays using this system. The test requires you to write a 200–300 word essay in which you may have to:
- Give your opinion on a topic
- Discuss the disadvantages and advantages
- Describe problems or causes and solutions for it
Regardless of which of the above you are required to do, they all follow the same essay format.
Here are the PTE writing tips we'll be covering in-depth in this article with real examples :
- Tip 1 : Plan your main points.
- Tip 2 : Keep your writing simple.
- Tip 3 : Use a PTE essay-writing format.
You'll be surprised by how much you will improve your score following these tips. Make sure to read till the end of this article not to miss them!
Tip 1: How to start and plan your PTE writing essay
- Read the essay prompt carefully. Be clear about what you have been asked to discuss.
- Plan your essay and the points you want to discuss.
- You only have 20 minutes to write your essay, but you should still take a few minutes to think about it and jot down some notes.
- Keep your points on topic — do not add irrelevant information just to make your essay longer.
- Use examples, where possible, to illustrate your points.
- Be careful not to overuse certain words, like linking words
Tip 2: Keep your writing simple
The test assessors are looking for clear, logical sentences. It doesn’t mean you should only write short, simple sentences.
You do need to show you can write complex sentences, but the more you try to write long, grammatically-complicated sentences the greater your chance of making errors .
Want to improve your PTE writing score? Write simpler sentences
Example: How to simplify your writing
Here is an example of a very long sentence that could be simplified:
A parent-teacher meeting will be held at the school on Tuesday September 11th at 4pm for you to meet your child’s teachers and to discuss his/her progress, but please note you must inform us by September 4th if you are coming and, if English is not your first language, whether or not you require an interpreter.
Simplified version:
A parent-teacher meeting will be held at the school on Tuesday September 11th at 4pm. You will be able to meet your child’s teachers and discuss his/her progress. Please inform us by September 4th if you are coming. Also, if English is not your first language let us know if you require an interpreter.
Tip3: Use a PTE writing format
You can use the same basic format to write your PTE essay, no matter the topic or whether you have to give your opinion or describe the advantages and disadvantages.
Here is an example essay prompt:
Recently, cases of capital punishment have raised the issue of human rights of the guilty. Though it has been criticized by human rights organizations, the death penalty is still a form of punishment in some countries. Should it be abolished? Give reasons and examples.
How to write your PTE essay introduction
Keep your introduction short, precise and clear. About 3–4 lines is enough.
Your stand (or viewpoint) on the issue should be mentioned in your introduction (but only in opinion articles, in others just provide a short description as your introduction.)
Here is a sample introduction for the above question about the death penalty:
Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is when an individual is sentenced to death for a crime considered to be serious according to a nation’s laws. Some say everyone has the right to live, regardless of their crime. However, it can be argued in cases of crimes such as murder, that offenders should be punished by death. This is my belief too, therefore capital punishment should not be abolished.
What is a great PTE essay structure?
Introduction Argument 1 (for) Argument 2 (for or against) Conclusion
The body of your essay should be at least 2 or 3 paragraphs. In total you will have 4 or 5 paragraphs, depending on the essay prompt and how many points you choose to write about.
For instance:
- Paragraph 1: Introduction
- Paragraph 2: Argument 1 (e.g. for capital punishment)
- Paragraph 3: Argument 2 (e.g. against capital punishment)
Paragraph 4: Conclusion
Regarding the conclusion you have 2 main choices:
Say which argument is most convincing in your opinion.
Summarize arguments from paragraphs 2 & 3.
Start each body paragraph with a topic sentence, which is the main point of the paragraph, then explain it and give examples.
Note that every paragraph must connect to the one before it to keep your PTE essay flowing. This makes it easy for the reader to follow your writing.
See the previous article on how to use linking words to connect your paragraphs and the points within each paragraph.
Paragraph 2: This is where you start providing your arguments for or against the issue of capital punishment.
Many people believe capital punishment is a justifiable penalty for serious crimes such as murder. Their belief is if you deliberately take the life of another human being you forfeit your right to live and should be put to death. People in favor of the death penalty also say their taxes should not be wasted providing for criminals to live their life in prison, especially if they are deemed a permanent threat to society. If murderers and the like are unable to be rehabilitated and, therefore, cannot contribute to society, the death penalty is warranted. Furthermore, proponents of capital punishment believe it acts as a deterrent to heinous crimes and is, consequently, an apt punishment for such crimes.
Paragraph 3: Continue with the flow of the previous paragraph and provide your next argument or point.
On the other hand, there are, of course, people who are completely against capital punishment, regardless of the crime committed. They say no one has the right to kill another human being and if a court of law sentences someone to death it is just the same as murdering them. Those against the death penalty believe dangerous criminals should be jailed and given a chance to mend their wicked ways, for example through rehabilitation programs set up for such people in prison.
This is the final paragraph of your essay.
- Sum up by briefly rephrasing your arguments in 2 or 3 sentences.
- Do not copy word for word what you have already written.
- Keep it short and precise and do not add any new ideas.
In conclusion, capital punishment is deemed by many people to be absolutely necessary and justified in order to keep society safe, while others believe death by law is no different to death by unlawful means in that they are both murder. I believe we need the death penalty. When someone deliberately kills another person and the legal system has found them to be beyond rehabilitation, the death penalty is warranted, rather than the offender spending the rest of their life in jail contributing nothing to the betterment of society.
Here is the entire PTE essay on capital punishment for you to read again:
Full article:.

Extra writing tip: Read every day
You may say, thanks for this very basic tip! So, why am I saying this?
Because, memorizing word lists is not the way to build your vocabulary bank .
The best way is reading real language in books, magazines and newspapers.
Make it a daily habit and you will quickly learn and remember more words, and the ways they are used by native speakers. Moreover, you will also improve your grammar !
Language learners and test takers understandably try to use “new” or “big” words, however they often use them incorrectly. This is how you learn the collocations list.
- To convey a message
- To cover a topic
- To conduct a survey
For some actions, it is important to use the proper verb. To say a message doesn't sound right, right?
That is why memorizing word lists is a bad habit because that doesn’t teach you how to use words in the right context.
As you can see, writing a PTE essay can be simplified once you follow a proper structure.
Try to practice at least 5 to 10 questions following our steps above, and you'll see, you'll start writing in less time and get better results.
Additionally, I'd recommend you to memorize a couple of PTE essay templates. I'll attach one to this page in a couple of days.

However, writing templates supply model responses, that match with specific types of prompts. Understanding each of them can help you apply suitable samples aligned with the essay request.
Here are the most common PTE essay types:
- Argument: This type provides two sides of an argument. It requires you to take a stance on an issue and provide supporting evidence. Your goal is to persuade the reader of your viewpoint with reasonable explanations and examples.
- Advantages and disadvantages: In this topic, you need to examine the pros and cons of a given topic, presenting a balanced assessment of its advantages and disadvantages.
- Agree and disagree: This writing form will give you a point and ask you to state an opinion (agree or disagree). After that, you also need to explain your choice, and give some evidence and examples to support your idea.
- Problems and solutions: In this essay, you have to identify a problem and propose solutions. Your essay should discuss the problem’s causes and effects and offer practical solutions.
- Essay on a given topic: Sometimes, PTE will provide a specific topic or question for you to address. Your task is to solve the required problem, respond concisely and directly to the prompt.
Overall, each type of prompt corresponds with one template writing. Before writing, you need to identify what types of topics you encounter to apply the right template.
Effective PTE essay writing template for maximum scores
Now that you know why templates are beneficial and the various essay types you might encounter, let’s delve into an effective PTE essay writing template that can help you score maximum points.
In general, each type of prompt has a different template to follow. However, it is normally based on a fixed essay skeleton including Introduction , Body paragraph , and Conclusion . Below is the model outline you can consider:
Introduction (about 40-50 words)
In this part, you need to:
- Start with a hook or a general statement related to the topic, remember to paraphrase the requirement.
- Clearly state your thesis or main point.
- Provide a brief overview of the points you will discuss.
Body paragraph (about 200 words)
This part often contains two single paragraphs. Each of them is about 100 words in length. The structure of the body can include:
- Topic sentence: Begin each paragraph with a clear topic sentence that connects to your thesis.
- Explanation (about 1-2 sentences): You need to give some reasons explicating your point. Don’t forget to use transition words to connect your ideas and maintain a smooth flow.
- Supporting details (Optional): After explanation, it’s essential to provide evidence, examples, or statistics to support your topic sentence. With these details, your idea can be clarified better.
- Counterargument (Optional): Last but not least, you can address opposing viewpoints and explain why they are less valid. This sentence would strengthen your statement, and make it more persuadable.
Conclusion (about 40-50 words)
At the end of all writing, a conclusion is unavoidable. This part asks you to:
- Summarize your main points.
- Restate your thesis or main point in another expression way.
- Provide a closing thought or call to action related to the topic.
Above is the general format of the PTE essay. You also need to adapt this template to the specific essay type you’re writing.
For instance, an argumentative essay will require a stronger emphasis on presenting and refuting opposing views, while the agree and disagree article will focus more on expressing your viewpoint.
Notice that the given structure is for reference. You don’t need to follow it 100% when writing as long as you make sure that your ideas are supported well.
4 PTE writing examples for all essay types
To truly grasp the power of templates, let’s explore some PTE writing examples for each essay type. These examples will showcase how the template can be customized to fit various essay prompts.
Argumentative Essay Sample
Prompt: “Should governments provide free healthcare for all citizens?”
Introduction
The important thing you need to do is to paraphrase the prompt and give out your opinion. For example:
Governments worldwide face the perennial question of whether they should let all citizens approach healthcare for free (paraphrase). In this essay, I will argue in favor of this policy, emphasizing that accessible healthcare is a fundamental right (state an opinion).
Body paragraph 1:
Topic Sentence: Free healthcare ensures equitable access to medical services.
Explanation: In countries where healthcare is free, citizens from all socioeconomic backgrounds receive necessary medical care.
Supporting details: This eliminates the disparity in healthcare access between the affluent and less privileged segments of society.
Body Paragraph 2:
Topic Sentence: Free healthcare reduces the financial burden on individuals.
Explanation: In nations with free healthcare, individuals do not face exorbitant medical bills, reducing financial stress. This improves overall well-being and economic stability for citizens.
Support details: According to statistics, 43 countries in the world have free healthcare for their citizens and most of them are developed countries.
Conclusion:
Restate your opinion: In conclusion, providing free healthcare to all citizens is not just a moral imperative but also a pragmatic solution to many societal issues. It ensures equitable access, relieves financial burdens, and promotes public health.
Provide a call to action: Governments should prioritize this fundamental right.
Agree and disagree essay
Prompt: “Do you agree or disagree with the statement: ‘Technology is making people less creative’?”
Paraphrase: The impact of technology on human creativity is a topic of considerable debate.
State your opinion: In this essay, I will argue that while technology has altered the creative landscape, it does not stifle creativity.
Topic sentence: Technology provides new avenues for the creative industry.
Explanation: Platforms like social media and digital art tools enable individuals to explore and showcase their creativity. Creators can connect to each other easily. Therefore, they can update, and learn from each other to improve themselves. Otherwise, the internet provides a wealth of information and inspiration at one’s fingertips.
Supporting details: For instance, websites like Freepik are provided to provide a wide range of materials for people to create their work.
Body paragraph 2:
Topic Sentence: Technology challenges individuals to adapt creatively.
Explanation: The rapid evolution of technology necessitates creative problem-solving and adaptation. This constant innovation not only fuels creativity in individuals and industries but also puts them under pressure. That they have to use this as a supporting tool, not let this replace them.
Supporting details: The appearance of chat GPT threatens the jobs of many people, especially content creators. However, it can not replace people. Instead, individuals use it to serve their work.
Conclusion: In conclusion, technology’s impact on creativity is multifaceted, and it can both enhance and challenge creative expression. Ultimately, creativity is not stifled by technology; it is redefined and enriched in the digital age.
Advantages and disadvantages essay
Prompt: “Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of online learning”
Paraphrase: The rise of online learning is a revelation of education, but it also raises pertinent questions regarding its advantages and disadvantages. In this essay, we will explore both sides of the online learning debate.
Body paragraph 1 (About advantages)
Topic sentence: Firstly, let’s look into some pros of online education.
Pros 1: Online learning offers flexibility and convenience. Learners can access courses from anywhere at their own pace. This flexibility accommodates diverse schedules and lifestyles. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, students still can access education via online learning platforms.
Pros 2: Online learning reduces geographical barriers. It allows access to top-notch courses and instructors worldwide. This democratizes education and promotes inclusivity. For instance, people in Vietnam can easily take part in a workshop in the US on the Internet.
Body paragraph 2 (About disadvantages)
Topic sentence: Although it provides many advantages, online learning also has some side effects.
Cons 1: Online learning lacks the social interaction of traditional classrooms. Students miss out on face-to-face interactions and group dynamics. This can hinder the development of social skills and a sense of community.
Cons 2: Learning on the internet requires students to have suitable devices to connect. But not all students have that good life conditions. Poor people or those who live in remote areas would find it really difficult to access.
In conclusion, online learning presents a mixed bag of advantages and disadvantages. Its flexibility and accessibility are game-changers, but the absence of physical interaction and potential isolation are important considerations. A balanced approach to education must harness the best of both worlds.
Problems and solutions essay
Prompt: “Discuss the problem of air pollution in urban areas and propose solutions.”
Paraphrase: Air pollution in urban areas is a pressing issue with far-reaching consequences.
We will examine some causes and effects of this problem and propose effective solutions in this essay.
Body paragraph 1 (mention a cause and offer a solution for it) :
Cause: Urban air pollution is primarily caused by vehicle emissions. More and more cars are used nowadays, combined with the inadequate public transportation systems, elevating pollution in urban on the next level.
Solution: To solve this problem, it’s crucial to reduce vehicle emissions. Instead of driving cars, people can walk or use public transportation. In addition, the government implements strict emissions standards to control this problem.
Body paragraph 2:
Cause: In many areas of the world, millions of square kilometers of forest have been destroyed for human personal purposes. Forests are also considered as the green lungs of the earth. Lack of this natural shield, the air becomes more vulnerable.
Solution: People should protect and strive to cultivate more trees in the world. Moreover, the government also can intervene by enforcing strict regulations on deforestation.
In conclusion, urban air pollution is a multifaceted problem, but it is not insurmountable. As long as we take action to maintain and protect the air, cities can breathe easier and provide a healthier environment for their residents.

An argumentative essay is about making a case for a specific viewpoint. It demands a deep investigation into the subject, where you gather, create, and assess evidence to back up your stance clearly and concisely. You should dive into literature or previously published material and conduct empirical research by collecting data through interviews, surveys, or experiments. This extensive research helps you learn about the topic, understand different perspectives, and choose a position supported by evidence. A clear thesis and logical reasoning are essential regardless of the research type.
Setting the Stage with a Clear Thesis
A strong argumentative essay begins with a clear and precise thesis statement in the opening paragraph. Start by giving an overview of the topic and explaining why it matters or why readers should care. Present your thesis statement, ensuring it's well-defined and aligned with the assignment's guidelines. A well-crafted thesis is crucial for writing an effective and persuasive essay.
Transitioning Smoothly Between Sections
Transitions are the glue that holds your essay together. They help readers follow your argument by summarizing the previous section's idea and introducing the next one. Without logical progression, the essay's structure falls apart. Ensure your transitions create a smooth flow between the introduction, body, and conclusion.
Building Strong Body Paragraphs
Each body paragraph should focus on a single idea, creating clarity and direction throughout the essay. This conciseness makes it easier for your audience to follow along. Ensure each paragraph connects logically to the thesis statement in the opening paragraph. Some paragraphs will directly support the thesis with evidence, while others might present differing viewpoints. Discuss these conflicting opinions by explaining why they might not be well-informed or up-to-date rather than dismissing them outright.
Supporting with Solid Evidence
An argumentative essay needs well-researched , accurate, detailed, and current information to support the thesis and consider other viewpoints. Use factual, logical, statistical, or anecdotal evidence to support your thesis. Don't ignore evidence that may not align with your thesis—addressing differing opinions and explaining how they might be uninformed or outdated is crucial.
Wrapping Up with a Strong Conclusion
The conclusion should leave a lasting impression by synthesizing the information presented in the essay's body. Restate why the topic is important, review the main points, and revisit your thesis. Avoid introducing new information; focus on how the evidence supports your thesis. You might also suggest areas for further research sparked by your work.

Crafting Your Central Claim
The claim is the heartbeat of an argumentative essay . It’s your main argument or position that you will defend. Think of it as your essay’s thesis. This isn’t just a statement of fact; it’s a stance you’ll support with logic and evidence. For instance, if you’re writing about climate change, your claim might be that renewable energy is essential to combat it. Your claim guides your entire essay, so make it clear and debatable.
Gathering Strong Evidence
Evidence backs up your claim and strengthens your argument. This includes facts, data, examples, or expert opinions. Without evidence, your argument is just an opinion. Let’s say your claim is about renewable energy. You might use data showing how solar and wind energy reduce carbon emissions. This evidence makes your essay persuasive and credible.
Addressing Counter Arguments
A strong argumentative essay acknowledges opposing viewpoints. Counterarguments show you’ve considered other perspectives. This isn’t just about being fair; it’s a strategic move. By presenting a counterargument, you demonstrate that your argument is well-rounded. For example, if your claim is about renewable energy, you might address concerns about its cost.
Crafting a Solid Rebuttal
Once you’ve presented a counterargument, you need to refute it. This is where the rebuttal comes in. You’ll use evidence and reasoning to weaken the opposing viewpoint. In the renewable energy example, you could counter the cost argument by showing how technology advancements are lowering prices. A strong rebuttal reinforces your position and shows you’re prepared to defend it.
Structure for Clarity
An argumentative essay typically follows a clear structure. This helps you logically present your argument. Start with an introduction that includes your claim. Then, present your evidence in the body paragraphs. Address counterarguments and offer rebuttals. Finally, conclude by summarizing your main points. This structure ensures your essay is easy to follow and effective.

2. Choose a Topic That Sparks Debate
Pick a topic that piques your interest and isn’t overly broad or narrow. Define your paper’s goals . What’s your purpose? What idea are you trying to prove? If you’re struggling to articulate your purpose, try freewriting about your topic.
3. Craft a Strong Thesis Statement
Your thesis should assert something arguable about your topic. It needs to be a statement others might disagree with. A solid dissertation combines observation and opinion. Test its strength by seeing if it provokes a strong counterargument. Avoid common pitfalls: fragments, overly broad statements, questions, or stale issues. Let your thesis evolve as you research and write—keep it in view to focus your writing.
4. Know Your Audience
Identify who you’re writing for. Are they disinterested observers or opponents of your viewpoint? If you’re unsure, direct your argument to a general audience. Knowing your audience will help you tailor your paper to their interests and perspectives.
5. Back Up Your Claims with Evidence
Support your thesis with reasons and evidence. Reasons answer the question, "Why do you make that claim?" Use evidence like facts, statistics, anecdotes, and textual evidence. Ensure you introduce and explain your evidence’s significance—don’t assume readers will understand its importance on their own. Anticipate counterarguments and address them by acknowledging, accommodating, or refuting them.
6. Draft Your Essay with Care
Take your essay through multiple drafts. Provide ample evidence, deal with opposing views, and pay attention to organization. Address and correct any logical fallacies and use proper transitions to guide your reader through your argument.
7. Edit and Revise Thoughtfully
After drafting, switch to a reader’s perspective. Critically evaluate your essay and exchange drafts with classmates for feedback. Revise based on your assessment and peer suggestions. Use a peer editing sheet to guide your revision process with specific questions about your text.
Find What Lights Your Fire
When picking an argumentative essay topic , consider what indeed interests you. Choose a subject that gets you excited or angry. Your passion will come through in your writing, making it more engaging for both you and your readers.
Stir Up Some Drama
Seek out topics that spark debate or controversy. These issues often have multiple perspectives and can lead to compelling argumentative essays. Plus, they allow you to explore different sides of an issue before presenting your stance.
Keep It Current
Select topics that are relevant to current events or ongoing discussions in society. This ensures your essay resonates with readers and contributes to meaningful dialogue on contemporary issues.
Get Specific
Once you've identified a general area of interest, narrow it down to a specific aspect or angle. This will help you focus your research and develop a clear thesis statement for your essay.
Do Your Homework
Consider the availability of credible sources and data for your chosen topic. Ensure that you have enough evidence to support your arguments and counterarguments effectively.
Make It Personal
Reflect on your experiences, beliefs, or values that may intersect with potential topics. A topic that is personally significant to you can add depth and authenticity to your arguments.
Ask for Input
Discuss your topic ideas with peers, instructors, or mentors for their input and perspectives. They can offer valuable insights, suggest alternative angles, or help you refine your topic to make it more persuasive.
