Indian cricketer MS Dhoni’s maiden production, LGM – Let’s Get Married, stars Harish Kalyan and Ivana as the main characters. The movie hit the screens today in Telugu states. Let’s dive into our review to see how the movie is.
After dating for two years, Gautam (Harish Kalyan) and Meera (Ivana) decide to get married. But Meera worries that life with her future mother-in-law Leela (Nadiya) might be tough. So, she asks Gautam to plan a trip to Coorg with their families, hoping to bond with her aunt. The trip doesn’t start well, and Gautam gets stuck in the middle of this chaos. Eventually, Meera comes up with another idea to fix the problem. What’s her plan? Did they get closer? Did Gautam and Meera marry? To find out, you’ll have to watch the main movie.
Plus Points:
The story is simple and sweet. The idea of checking if you’re compatible with your partner for a happy life isn’t new, but doing it with future mother-in-law is unique.
Harish Kalyan, familiar to Telugu audiences with Jersey, looks good on screen. His role as someone torn between his mom and girlfriend is impressive and funny. Ivana, who impressed us in Love Today, is back with another interesting character. As Meera, a bold and modern girl, Ivana acts well and brings some laughs.
Nadiya’s role is good, and she plays it subtly. Yogi Babu brings laughs with his funny lines whenever he’s on screen. Mirchi Vijay, Harish Kalyan’s sidekick, also adds to the humor. The dubbing is excellent, making it feel like a proper Telugu movie.
Minus Points:
The story might have seemed exciting on paper, but it’s not that engaging on screen. The writers, Sakshi Dhoni and Ramesh Tamilmani could have added more interesting scenes between the lead female characters. More compelling interactions between Nadiya and Ivana would have made things better.
The director, Ramesh Tamilmani, also should have focused on the pacing, which is a tad slow. The story drags, with unnecessary scenes in both halves that slow down things.
Harish’s acting is decent, but he could have emoted better in some crucial scenes. The drama between the lead pair is the most crucial aspect of a rom-com, but this hasn’t been handled well.
Yogi Babu and Deepa Kumari’s characters were not utilized to the fullest extent. The songs are forgettable once you leave the theater. The climax and some scenes in both halves could have had some impact, but the presentation didn’t let that happen. Plus, some characters don’t really contribute to the story.
Technical Aspects:
As a writer and director, Ramesh Tamilmani didn’t make a strong impact. With a better story and tighter script, the movie could have been a more entertaining romantic comedy.
The camera work is decent, but the shots of Goa and Coorg by DOP Odukkathil Viswajith could have been still better to make the movie visually more appealing. The music by Ramesh Tamilmani lacks the spark. Editor Pradeep E Ragav is just okay. Production values are okay.
On the whole, LGM – Let’s Get Married is a somewhat incomplete rom-com with a good story, decent performances, and occasional humor. However, the slow pace and lengthy scenes in both halves might cause boredom. If that doesn’t bother you, you could watch it over the weekend, but keep your expectations in check. The film might appeal more to OTT audiences well.

'LGM' movie review: How to destroy a good premise
The premise of LGM is my most favourite—and sadly, my only favourite—part of the film. It’s about a young woman, Meera (Ivana), deciding that she can’t marry her two-year boyfriend, Gowtham (Harish Kalyan), unless she knows for sure that she will get along with his mother (Nadhiya). And to this end, she has “an idea”, a dialogue repeated multiple times in the film to no great effect. She suggests that both families go on a trip together, so she can gauge her compatibility with her future mother-in-law. This premise is rooted in the topics of patriarchy and sexism—and has the potential to speak of how women are expected to naturally adjust to living not just with the person they are in love with, but those attached to him as well—and how this ‘tolerance’ is expected only of women. It’s an idea that has the potential to speak of family bonds, of the utility of new relationships, of how society tramples the individuality of women… However, over 150 minutes, all LGM tramples is its only good aspect: The promising premise.
And it sets about this with cold precision, through many efficient ways. Its aim at being a comedy is more laughable than its humour—and the desperate attempts, in fact, serve to undercut the importance of its premise. There’s a scene on the terrace in which Meera tells Gowtham that she never imagined living with anyone else except him and how the idea of his mother living with them causes her great discomfort. It’s a sensitive plea, but the performances and the dialogue-writing don’t help. Worse is when the film sneaks in a silly joke as a continuation of this scene, almost like it doesn’t take Meera too seriously. At one point, I wondered whether the film even understood Meera’s problem, or whether her concern was just a ‘cool premise’. Gowtham’s friend (Mirchi Vijay) doesn’t think much of her. Gowtham’s boss (Venkat Prabhu) doesn’t seem to get the issue either. Later, Yogi Babu—in between some reasonably funny jokes—keeps vilifying both Meera and her prospective mother-in-law (Nadhiya). Gowtham himself acts like a victim, as the classic innocent man torn between two women—when he is the person, of the three, whose life is altered the least.
The premise needed more sensitive eyes and way more emotional insight—and the film has neither. It presents the loneliness of Gowtham’s mother but doesn’t care enough to tell us more. It reminds us that her husband died early and that Gowtham and Meera strangely use it as a diss, but none of this is followed up with any real catharsis. As for Meera’s own ‘ideas’, the film seems to have judged them as strange—and so, what it proceeds to do is build on this and move to stranger ideas. How else can you explain the bizarreness of both women (Meera and mother-in-law) tripping on drugged sweets at a strange ashram populated by white people speaking a strange language? Or are both women getting kidnapped by poachers and getting chained to a cage with a tiger? How do these ideas even fit into the emotional idea of two women learning to love each other?
The film begins with the sensations of a rom-com, but soon, turns into something resembling a road-trip film. But soon again, the women get isolated, and it begins to seem like this is a film about these women and how they find themselves while searching for each other. But then, soon, they are dancing around drugged and needing to be saved by a man (Yogi Babu), who calls them the bane of his life. Ultimately, this is a nothing film, lacking any real interest in itself.
After a while, I signed out mentally, waiting like the tiger, to be released from my suffering. I merely stared, enduring the film’s hodge-podge of nonsensical, mirthless ideas. I stared as Ivana and Nadhiya woke up, looking fairly well made-up, after supposedly being unconscious in a forest for an entire night. I stared, as Sandy Master, dressed up as a saamiyaar, dances to a psychedelic song and encourages Ivana and Nadhiya to do the same. I started as Ivana and Nadhiya inadvertently drug two horses and get lost in a jungle. I stared as Yogi Babu and a tiger fly at each other, and the film presents it as some apocalyptic faceoff.
The film is produced by Dhoni Entertainment, and Yogi Babu, in his opening scene, calls attention to his photograph with MS Dhoni. He is even called Mahendra in the film. Over the years, Dhoni has saved plenty of cricket matches that seemed hopeless with his last-minute hitting—and perhaps this film hoped Yogi Babu, named Mahendra, would pull off something similar. He does try with some jokes that seem particularly efficient because he’s mocking the film’s characters at a time when we feel quite frustrated with the film. As Meera narrates a story, he encourages her to go on as “it is keeping the tiger asleep”. On another occasion, he patiently listens to a back story and brutally dubs it ‘mokkai’. But these fleeting jokes are the equivalent of a last-ball six when your team is losing by an innings and a couple of hundred runs.

LGM – Let’s Get Married Review: Sakshi, Dhoni gift the most nonsensical film of 2023
Director ramesh thamilmani’s ‘lgm’ aka ‘let’s get married’, starring harish kalyan, ivana and nadiya, marks sakshi and dhoni’s maiden production venture. it is a film that makes your question your existence, says our review..

- The film features Harish Kalyan, Ivana and Nadiya.
- 'LGM' marks the maiden production venture of MS Dhoni and Sakshi.
Release Date: 28 Jul, 2023
You cannot take out the Mahendra Singh Dhoni fan in every Tamilian. Cricket and cinema are two things that Indians love and Tamilians took it up a notch when they adopted MS Dhoni in 2008 when he started playing for Chennai Super Kings. 2023, for IPL fans, was made memorable by the countless mass entries Dhoni gave in every stadium across the country. A true hero in every sense! If you think, what’s this got to do with ‘LGM – Let’s Get Married’, you are off social media or you don’t follow cinema or cricket. Dhoni and Sakshi’s maiden production venture, ‘LGM’, releases today, July 28. Cinema is a turf that Dhoni and Sakshi are new to. If you feel this is too much beating around the bush, you’re right! Because that’s what ‘LGM’ is all about! All fluff and zero substance!
Gowtham (Harish Kalyan) and Meera (Ivana) decide to get married after dating for two years. The couple decide to tell each other’s parents, so they could take their relationship forward. However, Meera has apprehensions when she thinks about sharing the home with Gowtham’s mother (Nadiya). Meera wants to understand and know Gowtham’s mother before getting married. She proposes the idea of going on a family trip to test the waters. According to her, this will help her weigh in compatibility. Gowtham agrees and what follows is a comedy of errors! Or that’s what it was intended to be.
‘LGM’ is directed by Ramesh Thamilmani and conceptualised by Sakshi Singh Dhoni. The two-minute-18-second-long trailer of ‘LGM’ gave us a glimpse of what’s in store. The concept of a daughter-in-law making attempts to get to know her future mother-in-law sounds interesting. But, that’s literally just about it. ‘LGM’ is that sort of film that deploys every single clichéd trope and makes it uninteresting with every passing scene.
While some films question your existence, some films will make you question, ‘How did this even get made?’. ‘LGM’ is a film that lacks ambition and goes for the low-hanging fruits. Whatever you see in the trailer is what you get. The story remains stagnant for over two whole hours. Harish Kalyan, Ivana and Nadiya’s characters do not converse at all. They just stare. You stare at them and every sin you’ve committed flashes in your mind.
Throughout the film, Yogi Babu’s character Mahendra, a bus driver, keeps dropping truth bombs. He calls it mokka (boring in English) and you feel him. Every time when Harish Kalyan’s Gowtham tells his love story, every single character lets out a sigh. And follows it up with ‘Is this even a story?’. Well, take the hint, guys!
It is literally a crime to criticise the representation of the modern woman in a film like this. Nadiya, a dumb and regressive mother, blames Meera for drinking and her outgoing nature when her son does exactly that! She doesn’t wait for opportunities to blame her either. When they go on a family trip, they have a bit of friction. This could have made up for a fun sequence. But, that’s it! No ideas are fleshed out at all.
Not to forget the tacky visual effects. There’s a tiger, who’s supposedly the most well-behaved tiger you’ve ever seen. It waits till the climax to pounce on the people. Wafer-thin storyline, illogical sequences and boring screenplay, you name it, ‘LGM’ has it. The performances do not move you either. The characters are superficial and hence you do not feel any emotion, let alone positive.
‘LGM’ is a poorly made romantic drama that serves as the right example of ‘not all good ideas make it great on the table’.

Director Ramesh Thamilmani’s LGM , an acronym for Let’s Get Married , is a breezy romantic comedy that works big time and leaves you thoroughly entertained.
Gowtham (Harish Kalyan), the only son of a widowed mother Leela (Nadiya), falls in love with an office colleague Meera (Ivana), an empowered woman of this day and age.
When Meera realises that Gowtham is interested in her, she says she is interested in him as well but asks for time to take the relationship further. She suggests that they date each other for a period of two years before she makes a decision.
Gowtham agrees to this. After two years, he proposes and she accepts.
The next day, Gautham and his family — which primarily comprises his mom Leela — head to Ivana’s place to formalise the alliance.

Things seem to be proceeding smoothly until Meera serves tea to Leela. Pleased that she is going to get a daughter-in-law finally, Leela tells Meera that she will take care of her like her own daughter.
Ideally, such a statement should have brought a smile to the face of any prospective bride. But not Meera. Instead, it only brings a frown to her face.
She calls Gautham aside and tells him that she only envisioned living with him but did not expect to live with his mother as well.
Gautham is stumped by this sudden outburst and says he cannot let go of his mother who lived all her life for him for her sake.

Meera’s statement irks Gautham and he leaves in a huff. Needless to say, the wedding gets called off.

However, sometime later, Meera again invites Gautham for a cup of coffee in the office. She tells him that she wishes to spend some time with his mother to understand her.
To facilitate this, she suggests that both families go together on a trip. If during the trip, she finds his mother to be okay, they could go ahead and marry. If she doesn’t find Leela okay, then they could part as friends.
Gautham initially hesitates, but seeing no other way to break the deadlock, he agrees. Both families go on a trip. What happens then is what LGM is all about.

In tune with the times.
Ramesh Thamilmani delivers an interesting story that is in tune with the times. What makes the film work is the rich and invariably clean humour.
The filmmaker not only proves his mettle as a director by narrating a good story in a neat fashion but also shows that he is an equally capable music director.
The music he scored plays a significant role in the story’s narration and quite frankly, it leaves you impressed.

Brilliant performances.

Actress Nadiya delivers an outstanding performance as Leela and easily steals the limelight.
She wins your heart and makes you feel her pain when she weeps and asks her son, “Am I a car or a bike for your would-be-bride to try me and then decide if she wants to see if I am okay to live with.”
That one dialogue and the powerful manner in which she delivers it makes you understand how insulting Meera’s suggestion actually was.
Nadiya shows that she hasn’t lost the class that made her the superstar she was.
Harish Kalyan, who seems to be evolving as an actor with each new film, continues that trend with LGM .
He comes up with a neat and impressive performance that showcases the life of a man caught between the demands and whims of two infinitely difficult women he considers important.
Also Read: Censor talk of ‘Bro’: An imperfect timing for Pawan Kalyan?
Ivana as Meera comes up with an equally sterling performance. In fact, so good is her performance in the film that you actually start hating her character — not only for the pain she inflicts on her lover and his mother but also for her selfish nature.
Two other actors who prove to be big strengths for the film are actors Yogi Babu and RJ Vijay.
Both these comedians are present throughout the movie and deliver punchlines that keep the laughter coming in.
Thanks to their invaluable presence, LGM comes across as enjoyable fare.
In short, director Ramesh Thamilmani and his unit can breathe easy as their outing LGM not only meets the expectations but actually exceeds them.

LGM Review: Cricketer MS Dhoni's Maiden Production Dents His Brand Value
Cast: Harish Kalyan, Nadhiya, Ivana, Yogi Babu and others
Director: Ramesh Tamilmani
Rating: 2 stars
Ace cricketer M S Dhoni steps into film production with Tamil film LGM (Let’s Get Married) and it is dubbed into Telugu with the same name. However, the tame and lackluster romantic comedy dents his hard-earned image on the cricket ground. He is known for pulling off even close encounters with his swashbuckling knocks and sixers’ but no such luck for the audience this time. As his director, Ramesh completely lets him down with an amateurish screenplay. No doubt, the basic plot of a young woman Meera (Ivana), resolving to get married to his boyfriend(Harish Kalyan), only after she finds compatibility with his future mother-in-law (Nadhiya) is contemporary, but the director couldn’t sustain the audience interests beyond a point on this ‘idea’. He tries to blend loads of fun moments into the narrative but it mars the show rather than enhancing it.
Ivana also suggests that both families go on a trip together, so she can gauge her compatibility with her future mother–in–law. This premise is rooted in the topics of patriarchy and sexism and how ‘tolerance’ is expected only from women and stuff to eventually trample over promising premise.
It is the story of two youngsters who are in love for two years. One day, when Harris proposes to Ivana, she agrees on one condition that she should find compatibility with his mother(Nadhiya) to avoid any problems post-marriage.
Besotted in love, Harish plans a trip to Coorg with the hope that his lover and mother would strike a chord and understand each other while staying in a holiday resort as they get time to spend together. Will Harris's hopes be dashed or two important persons of his life-mother and ladylove- will find compatibility? Check out in theatres.
There’s one scene in the film in which Meera tells Gowtham that she never imagined living with anyone else except him and how the idea of his mother living with them causes her great discomfort. It’s a sensitive plea, but the performances and the dialogue-writing don’t help. The premise needed more sensitive eyes and way more emotional insight—and the film has neither.
Harish and Ivana perform their roles with ease and Nadhiya stands out as a mother who has certain views about life. Popular comedian Yogi Babu evokes a few laughs but it is not enough. Director's dreary and slow-paced narration pushes the audience into slumber. Mirchi Vijay and Venkat Prabhu are just ok. The songs are just passable, while the cinematography is eye-pleasing in a few places.
No doubt, we need more producers like Dhoni who have a massive brand value but he needs to find the right script to play his helicopter shot and emerge a winner in a new arena too.

LGM Review: Lets You to Sleep
Movie: LGM Rating: 1.5/5 Banner: Dhoni Entertainment Cast: Harish Kalyan, Nadiya, Ivana, Yogi Babu, RJ Vijay, and others Cinematography: Viswajith Odukkathil Editing: Pradeep E Ragav Produced by: Sakshi Singh Dhoni, Vikas Hasija Story, Screenplay, music and Direction: Ramesh Thamilmani Release Date: Aug 04, 2023
MS Dhoni, one of the greatest cricketers of all time, has ventured into film production, with his wife producing "LGM" as their first film (made in Tamil). Today, the film was released in Telugu. This is the only noteworthy film playing this weekend.
Let's see if Dhoni's production house makes a good first start.
Story: Gowtham (Harish Kalyan) and Meera (Ivana) work together and have been dating for over two years. When Gowtham finally proposes to her, she readily accepts, but with a condition. Meera wishes to spend a few days with Gowtham's mother (Nadiya) in order to better understand her so that she will not have problems with her mother-in-law after their marriage.
Gowtham agrees to this strange proposal and plans a trip to Coorg. He hopes that his mother and Meera will get along well during their stay at the Coorg resort.
Will it, however, go smoothly? What will Gowtham's mother think of Meera, with whom she previously had an awkward incident?
Artistes’ Performances: Harish Kalyan has looks, but his acting is nothing to write home about. In the film, he appears completely clueless. Ivana, who wowed with her performance and beauty in "Love Today," doesn’t get any marks either.
Nadiya is the film's only saving grace. In her role as the hero's mother, she does her best to make the proceedings bearable. Yogi Babu's comedy is stale here.
Technical Excellence: The songs in the film, which were also composed by the director, are totally bad. Songs are important in rom-coms, but the music in this film is subpar. The cinematography is just okay. Nothing noteworthy work is noticeable from any technician.
Highlights: Central idea
Drawback: Boring sequences Immature narrative Outdated jokes Too much of lag
Analysis When the heroine comes to stay with the hero's family for a week in "Bommarillu," the idea seemed novel and resonated with family audiences. Nearly 18 years after "Bommarillu," "LGM (Let's Get Married)" arrives with a central theme that has the potential to resonate with family audiences.
The central idea is that the heroine wants to spend a few days with her future mother-in-law to see if they will get along. However, the screenplay and direction are both terribly bad.
It doesn't take much time for us to understand that the director Ramesh Tamilamani (who not only handled screenplay and direction but also music) lacks narrative skills. He doesn't know how to take the film's idea forward. His direction is totally amateur.
Not a single scene in the film resembles reality. The hero and heroine's office scenes look more like a college than an office. The so-called humorous scenes with the hero's colleagues are farcical.
The film becomes extremely boring due to forced humor and artificiality in every situation. The bus ride from Hyderabad to Coorg is nearly 30 minutes long, which tests our patience.
The so-called jokes about a diabetes patient requesting that the driver (Yogi Babu) stop the bus frequently for a urine break demonstrate that all of these attempts are made to fill the runtime.
Even in the second half, the sequences involving Nadiya and Ivana are useless. Another farce is the film's climactic fight with a tiger.
It's unfortunate that Dhoni's wife made her debut with such a mediocre and boring romantic drama that offers nothing to anyone. This is a bad start for Dhoni and his wife because they were duped by a director who lacks narrative skills. For us, it's boring.
Bottom line: Mediocre

LGM Tamil Movie Review
“Let’s Get Married” (LGM) is a Tamil romantic comedy drama that takes the audience on an uproarious roller-coaster ride filled with love, humor, and unexpected twists. Directed and written by Ramesh Thamilmani, the film boasts a talented ensemble cast led by Harish Kalyan and Ivana, supported by stellar performances from Mirchi Vijay, Nadhiya, Yogi Babu, Venkat Prabhu, VTV Ganesh, and others.
The story revolves around a young couple, portrayed with charm by Harish Kalyan and Ivana, who are eager to strengthen their love by tying the knot. However, there’s a small catch – Ivana is hesitant about having her mother-in-law live with them after marriage. Harish, who has lost his father and is sensitive to his mother’s needs, must find a way to convince Ivana. He proposes a solution: they should take a trip together before getting married, during which Ivana can better understand his mother.
The movie takes an entertaining turn as the couple embarks on their vacation, experiencing hilarious misadventures along the way. Everything goes smoothly until they find themselves lost in a forest and, unexpectedly, kidnapped by a dangerous criminal, leading to a thrilling and suspenseful turn of events. As they find themselves trapped in a van alongside a tiger, the film keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, wondering how they will escape this unexpected predicament.
The film beautifully balances romance, comedy, and thrilling moments, keeping the audience engaged throughout. Ramesh Thamilmani’s direction is commendable, ensuring a seamless blend of genres and delivering laugh-out-loud moments alongside moments of nail-biting tension.
Harish Kalyan and Ivana shine in their respective roles, displaying excellent chemistry and endearing performances. The supporting cast adds depth and humor to the film, with Yogi Babu’s comedic timing and Vijay’s presence leaving a lasting impression.
The cinematography by Viswajith Odukkathil captures the scenic beauty of the locations, while Pradeep E. Ragav’s editing maintains a perfect pace, keeping the narrative engaging.
One of the film’s highlights is the captivating music and background score, both composed by Ramesh Thamilmani himself, along with Madhan Karky’s touching lyrics. The songs add emotion and depth to the storytelling, enhancing the overall experience.
Overall, “Let’s Get Married” (LGM) is a delightful and entertaining Tamil movie that brings together romance, humor, and suspense in an engaging package. Ramesh Thamilmani’s direction and the exceptional performances by the cast make this film an enjoyable watch for all audiences. With its unique storyline and unpredictable twists, LGM keeps the viewers hooked till the very end. The movie is a perfect choice for those seeking a lighthearted yet thrilling cinematic experience.

Dhoni turned producer with the Tamil film LGM which was also released in Telugu with the same title. The film is out now in the theatres and read our review to find out if it reaches our expectations.
Story: Gowtham, portrayed by Harish Kalyan, and Meera, played by Ivana, are colleagues who share a bond that has blossomed into a two-year romantic relationship. When Gowtham decides to take their commitment to the next level by proposing, Meera’s acceptance comes with a unique condition. She expresses her desire to spend a few days with Gowtham’s mother, Nadiya, in a bid to gain a deeper understanding of her prospective mother-in-law, aiming to ensure a harmonious relationship after their marriage. Yet, will their time together unfold as planned? What will Nadiya, who has a previous awkward encounter with Meera, make of this proposition?
Performances: While Harish Kalyan possesses striking looks, his acting leaves much to be desired. In the movie, his portrayal comes across as bewildered and lacking depth. Ivana, who previously dazzled with her acting prowess and beauty in “Love Today,” fails to leave an impression here. Though she looks beautiful, she struggles to act in key scenes which is a surprise. The film’s sole savior is Nadiya, who takes on the role of the hero’s mother and endeavors to salvage the film’s quality. Yogi Babu’s comedic contributions fall flat in this instance.
Technicalities: The film’s songs, composed by the director himself, fall disappointingly short. Given the significance of music in romantic comedies, the soundtrack’s mediocrity is particularly striking. Cinematography merely meets the baseline without delivering any notable visual impact. No standout contributions from any member of the technical team are discernible. audience.
Analysis: The notion of a heroine spending a week with the hero’s family, as portrayed in “Bommarillu,” captivated audiences with its freshness and familial resonance. Nearly two decades later, “LGM (Let’s Get Married)” attempts to replicate this essence with its central theme targeting family viewers. The core idea of the heroine’s wish to bond with her future mother-in-law carries promise, but the execution through screenplay and direction falters significantly.
The film fails to mirror reality in any scene. Office spaces for the protagonists resemble college settings more than professional environments. Attempts at humor involving the hero’s colleagues come across as farcical. Forced humor and contrived situations contribute to the film’s growing tedium. A nearly half-hour bus journey from Hyderabad to Coorg becomes a test of endurance, a reflection of the attempts to pad the runtime.
It becomes evident quickly that director Ramesh Tamilamani, responsible for the screenplay, direction, and even music, lacks the art of storytelling. The film’s progression falters due to his inability to navigate the concept effectively. His direction betrays amateurishness. Even in the latter half, sequences involving Nadiya and Ivana lack significance.
The climactic confrontation with a tiger adds to the film’s absurdity. The film is a lackluster and tedious romantic drama offering little to anyone involved. This film falls victim to a director’s narrative inadequacies. Ultimately, the film proves to be a dreary experience for the audience.
Verdict: Overall, LGM falters in many areas. The plot is routine and the presentation is stale. The performances are just about okay and the emotions are forced. Dhoni needs to wait for some more time to get a feel of success in films as his debut film as a producer has not great to offer.
Bottom Line – Nothing New to offer

LGM Review: ధోనీ నిర్మించిన తొలి సినిమా ‘ఎల్జీఎం’ ఎలా ఉందంటే..
Published Fri, Aug 4 2023 3:46 PM

Ever since the announcement pertaining to LGM was made, the expectations have been pretty bigger. All credit goes to the brand ‘MS Dhoni’, who embarks on his production venture in Tamil industry through this film, featuring Harish Kalyan, Ivana and Nadhiya in the lead roles. The film’s visual promos clearly indicated that it’s going to be a feel-good family entertainer, directed by Ramesh Thamil Mani.
So what’s the film all about?
The film is about a handsome boy (Harish Kalyan), who falls in love with his colleague (Ivana), working in his IT firm office. They decide to get hitched after 2 years of relationship, and that’s when Ivana wants to spend some quality time with his future mother-in-law (Nadhiya) to see how’s the chemistry between them. The protagonist plans a trip involving both families, but on the spur of the moment, his mother discovers the real intention. Sooner, both his mother and fiancé embark on a journey that is laced with fun, twists, and surprises.
To start off with the analysis, the film has potential and elements that would easily work out with audiences but unfortunately fails to impress them with the feeble screenplay. The film’s writing looks so plain, and there are no impressive scenes, anywhere, except for a twist in the interval.
When it comes to performances, Harish Kalyan looks so dull and vague throughout the movie, and doesn’t fit his character anywhere. It’s same with Ivana, who keeps delivering same expressions over and again, throughout the film. It’s same with Nadhiya, who looks so dull and pale throughout the film. The mother-son chemistry between Harish and Nadhiya is completely missing. Especially, her portions during the second half aren’t engaging either. It looks like Yogi Babu’s character is purposely forced into the script. His presence doesn’t add any value to the film. He appears, disappears, and reappears for no reason. The only convincing part of the film is the performance by actor RJ Vijay.
On the technical front, the film’s music by director Ramesh Thamil Mani is somewhat ok, but it doesn’t synch well with the narrative, which again is weak. The cinematography looks over bleached.
Overall, LGM somewhat engrosses till the point of interval, but the post-intermission sequences are too sluggish with directionless screenwriting.
Verdict: A film that had potential to work out well, but eventually disappoints

Or a super fresh situational comedy. Ramesh Thamilmani's LGM (Let's Get Married) tries to be a little bit of both and ends up being neither. Gowtham and Meera's two-year-long romance comes with a footnote. They are colleagues who begin enjoying each other's company after a meet-cute at a watering hole. But Meera has an idea.

LGM: Let's Get Married Movie Review: Critics Rating: 2.0 stars, click to give your rating/review,It's just yet another below average romantic drama that gives nothing to take back home.
Technicalities: The film's songs, composed by the director himself, fall disappointingly short. Given the significance of music in romantic comedies, the soundtrack's mediocrity is particularly striking. Cinematography merely meets the baseline without delivering any notable visual impact.
