• The Qatar University scholarship encompasses human medicine, pharmacy, and other engineering and literary areas.
•  The scholarship income is just 500 riyals each month.
•  The student must have graduated with honors from high school (95% average or higher).
•  There is no separate scholarship application. The application for university admission includes the scholarship application.
• The institution charges an application fee, which is a price for examining the paperwork.
•  Qatar Public University’s yearly free scholarships in Qatar include free housing and transportation.
• In prior years, the Qatar University scholarship did not include a monthly stipend; instead, only additional perks were provided.
• International students are needed to ship the relevant paperwork and papers to the university.

International Students Admission At Qatar University

The requirements for admission and registration at Qatar University for non-Qataris to receive full scholarships in Qatar in 2022 are explained below. Admissions competitiveness is mostly determined by the student’s high school grade point average.

• The student must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Obtaining at least a 95% average in high school.
• Meeting the requirements for the program for which the student intends to apply.
•  A personal statement (medicine specialization only).
• Submitting English language proficiency certifications, such as TOEFL and IELTS, or international examinations, such as the SAT, is optional, but increases the student’s chance of admission.
• Some applicants may be subject to an interview.
• The student must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 75% in order to continue the scholarship.
• Submitting a copy of the certificates.

The requirements for registration at Qatar University for non-Qataris to receive the scholarship have been outlined previously; these conditions apply exclusively to international students who intend to apply for the scholarship.

Placement test

A student must demonstrate proficiency in English and mathematics in order to be admitted to a university. The test is given at Qatar University once students have been formally admitted. If a student does not have the necessary academic background, they may enroll in a preparatory program that lasts for one academic year.

Qatar University Scholarship for Masters and PhD

Qatar government scholarship does not currently provide full master’s and doctoral scholarships in Qatar for all disciplines. The university provides a diploma in education scholarship, which is equivalent to a College of Education master’s degree. There are, however, free fully funded scholarships available in Qatar through various international agreements; candidates are nominated through various embassies or institutions.

These are the postgraduate programs available:

• Diploma in Primary Education.
• Diploma of Secondary Education.
• Diploma in Special Education.

The following requirements must be met by applicants for Qatar University Scholarships for Graduate Studies Diploma Programs in the College of Education:

• A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2, or 2.8 for the pharmacy major.
• Pass the content knowledge examination for the subjects.
• A minimum of 5 on the IELTS (Academic) or 45 on the TOEFL iBT is required ( for English Concentration applicants only ).
• Fulfilling any further specialized requirements.

• In addition to the above-mentioned documents required to apply for a bachelor’s degree , candidates must provide the following documents.
• Online admissions application.
• Official graduation statement.
• Final, official, and authorized transcripts.
• As per Qatar University policy, a TOEFL or IELTS certificate or equivalent evidence of English language competency is required.
• A copy of the applicant’s Qatari ID card.
• Two photographs.

PhD admission requirements

• A Master’s degree GPA of at least 3.00, or 2.8 for pharmacy major.
• International examination (GRE, GMAT) if required by the intended major.
• Those whose university studies were conducted in a language other than English must provide evidence of English competence.
• Additional entrance standards must be fulfilled by applicants

Local and international scholarships 

The first type consists of grants awarded to Qatari students . This award offers a waiver of tuition and book expenses.

The second type consists of external scholarships granted to international students and consisting of tuition and book fee waivers, free accommodation, and annual transportation to and from the student’s home country.

Other scholarships offered by Qatar University exclude tuition expenses, such as the “His Highness the Amir Scholarship for Academic Excellence” and the “Distinguished Performance” scholarship.

Is a monthly stipend included with the Qatar University scholarship? Yes, Qatar University scholarships award eligible students with a monthly stipend of around 500 Qatari riyals.

How to apply for qatar university scholarship

Students who intend to apply for the Qatar Scholarship must study the aforementioned requirements and, if they are satisfied, proceed with the processes below.

• If the documents are written in a language other than Arabic or English, they should be translated.
• Create an account on the online admissions site for Qatar University.
• Complete the application for university enrollment.
• Pay the fee.
• Send documents to Qatar.
• No additional application is required for the scholarship. You may apply for scholarships by applying for an admission  at Qatar University using the online admissions portal.
• Before the application deadline, international students must send an original copy of their high school transcript and other required papers to the university’s address.

Qatar University offers types of scholarships annually to attract qualified students, provided that they meet the requirements of each scholarship and submet the required documents.

Qatar University supports a wide variety of scholarships recipients each academic year in order to attract highly qualified students. Tuition on the Qatar campus is the same as the Pittsburgh campus in the United States. In Qatar, there are many different types of financial assistance to help pay for the cost of a Carnegie Mellon education. Merit-based scholarships and need-based grants are available to students of all nationalities. Additionally, Qatari citizens have access to government scholarships and corporate sponsorships.

Five types of financial aid are available, depending on the student’s nationality, financial need and academic merit.

Need-based grant program for students of all nationalities

Qatar Foundation provides a world-class financial aid program to students at CMU-Q. Beginning with students who entered in Fall 2019, the QF need-based grant program provides grant aid to CMU-Q students of all nationalities through the generosity of Qatar Foundation. Grants (ie. aid with no repayment) of up to the full cost of attendance are made to families based on their unique financial circumstances.

The QF need-based grant program provides an outstanding opportunity for all students to receive funding for their studies at CMU-Q.

Need-based financial aid for U.S. citizens

Please note that U.S. citizens, and some non-citizens (ex. green card holders) are eligible for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) to support your studies at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. There are different types of funding within FAFSA, including grants (no repayment) and loans.

We would advise all U.S. citizens to apply for FAFSA by following these  instructions  and filling out this  Verification Worksheet . If you are not a U.S. citizen, but think you might be eligible, please check the information on this site to see if you could be eligible: https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/eligibility

If you are applying for need-based grants through the CMU-Q QF grant program, please understand that all US citizens will be required to apply for FAFSA aid before CMU-Q will release the Final Award Letter. This is required to avoid students receiving more need based aid than they would be appropriately eligible for. Eligible FAFSA aid will be included into the Final Award Letter amount from CMU-Q.

Qatar Foundation Merit Scholarship program

Qatar Foundation’s Merit Scholarship program awards a limited number of Merit Scholarships annually to students who have spent at least two semesters in one of the Education City’s branch campuses. Students who have achieved a 3.6 GPA or above during their studies in Education City are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Selection is not guaranteed as the number of available scholarships changes each year. For details regarding the application cycle and requirements, please contact the Qatar Foundation Scholarship Office ( [email protected] ) or visit their website .

Academic merit scholarships

A limited number of merit scholarships are awarded annually by CMU-Q (with funding from Qatar Foundation) to the most academically promising applicants. These awards can be combined with need-based grants from the QF grant program. To be considered for merit scholarships, students should submit the QF grant application. Students are notified of any merit scholarship awards at the same time they receive their initial Financial Award Letter from CMU-Q. Awards are made in a similar manner to our admission decisions with a holistic process involving many factors.

Qatari and GCC citizens

For Qatari citizens and citizens of other GCC countries, government scholarships and/or company sponsorships typically cover the full cost of attendance. Qatari nationals should contact the Scholarship Office of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOE&HE) at +974 4404 4971 or visit their website  for further information.

There are many scholarships available in these Qatar Universities for students each year and we will take you closer to those available opportunities in Qatar through this article:

Best Qatar Universities and Medium of Instruction:

The top Qatari Universities are Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Qatar University, College of North Atlantic Qatar, Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, and Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. Most institutions in Qatar use English as their medium of instruction and therefore require IELTS or TOEFL (or any other standardized tests for English language proficiency) from those whose primary language is not English.

Qatar Cost of Living, Visa, and Student Employment:  

The cost of living in Doha for a single person is around 10,000 QAR (rent included) and for a family of four, it is around 18,000 QAR. This cost can go down slightly or greatly in other cities in Qatar. Students studying in Qatar on a student visa can work for 20 hours a week on and off-campus when the academic session is on. They have the option to work full time in the holiday season (up to 40 hours a week). The students are usually paid around 40 QAR per hour if they are working on campus. 

Qatar Government Scholarships With IELTS Exemption in 2024

Most of the applicants don’t know the fact that they can apply for scholarships and admissions in Qatar Universities with IELTS exemption if they hold an English language Proficiency certificate or any other IELTS-alternate exam scores.

Doha is among the most expensive Middle Eastern cities so the students coming here need to have huge finances to get them through the study period. Luckily there are generous scholarships available in Qatari higher educational institutions that cover the educational expenses of outstanding students in part or full. Some scholarships are also available on a financial need basis. Let’s take a look at them.

#1 Qatar University Scholarships Without IELTS:

Qatar University, to attract talent in the form of local and international students, offers several scholarships. These scholarships are mostly based on scholarly achievement and standing. Qatar University also accepts TOEFL, PTE, CAE, or other English language test scores or an English language proficiency letter if you don’t have IELTS.

Almost all the scholarships cover the cost of tuition but some of them provide other allowances as well like textbook costs and a yearly round trip airfare to international students.

• The internal scholarships are awarded to only local students and cover the cost of tuition and textbooks. There is a certain criterion that the applicants need to meet to be considered for the scholarship.
• In external scholarships, the students can be selected based on endorsement by their respective country’s embassy or they can apply directly to the university. These scholarships, as the name suggests are for international students and cover the awardee’s tuition, books cost, accommodation at the university’s dormitory, and an annual trip to and from the home country.
• The Emir of Qatar scholarship covers the textbooks and tuition costs of 20 students who have the highest scores in their high school examinations. It is only for the citizens of Qatar and is offered to 10 male and 10 female students.
• The GCC states scholarships are awarded to students from GCC countries (apart from Qatar). A quota is allotted to every country and the scholarship is given to the students on the basis of their grades in their last degree. The value of the scholarship is free of cost accommodation at the university and an exemption from paying the tuition fee.
• The University of Qatar offers its employees’ children to study at the university without having to pay the tuition fee. This is valid for three children per employee.

#2 Doha Institute for Graduate Studies Scholarships:

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies supports its local and international students by offering them various scholarships. These scholarships and grants are given based on merit, financial need, and academic distinction. These scholarships are divided into two categories. 

• The Tamim scholarship is offered to those students who show high academic potential. These are open to Qatari citizens and students from Arab countries. The scholarship covers the tuition fees of all the scholarship holders. International students also get accommodation on university premises, a monthly stipend, two plane tickets to and from the home country (given at the time of arrival and upon graduation), and health insurance coverage. 
• The Sanad scholarship is given on a financial need basis. It is open for local students, residents of Qatar, and international students and covers the tuition fee (10% to 100%, depending upon how much the student needs the scholarship). The students have to give evidence of their financial need to get the scholarship. International students, alongside getting an exemption from paying the tuition also get hostel accommodation, a monthly stipend, and two plane tickets to and from their home country, and health insurance.

#3 QAPCO Scholarships:

The QAPCO scholarship provides financial assistance to students who are studying in Qatar in several disciplines including but not limited to, Business, Chemical Engineering, Finance, Law, Chemistry, etc.

The grant will give priority to those students who have attended and graduated from high school in the current year and to those who intend to or are studying in an engineering field at a university in Qatar. The value of the scholarship is decided based on the applicant’s competency.

#4 Scholarships by Qatar Foundation:

Several need and merit-based scholarships are offered by the Qatar Foundation to students who are studying in any of the institutions in Education City, Doha, Qatar. 

• The QF merit-based scholarship is awarded to those students who are studying in Education City for two semesters at least and have a CGPA of 3.6. the scholarship may not be able to cover all the educational expenses of the students but it can help them to a certain degree depending upon which institution they are studying in. This scholarship is renewable provided that the student maintains a CGPA of 3.6.
• The QF financial aid program gives interest-free loans to those financially unstable students who are enrolled in a university in Education City. The students have to repay the loan after graduating through one of the repayment plans offered.

#5 Qatar Airways Scholarships:

The National Scholarship Program by Qatar Airways supports local students financially and academically via its various scholarship and internship programs. This Qatari scholarship includes a monthly stipend, a chance to develop professional abilities through various training courses, an annual grant to the most exceptional students, and a chance to do an internship at Qatar Airways.

As part of QU’s strategic research excellence initiatives, and in order to consolidate the momentum of its journey towards achieving strategic objectives and promotion of international endeavors, the university is willing to host a number of high caliber Postdoctoral researchers at various research areas that meet fundamental technological and scientific challenges, involves multidisciplinary work and a high degree of novelty. "Neurofest 2024" - a celebration of neuroscience at Kent State and the recipients of Excellence in Neuroscience Research Scholarship awards

“Neurofest 2024” took place on April 11 to celebrate current and former neuroscience students and their accomplishments. This event was organized by Dr. Wilson Chung, Director of the Undergraduate Neuroscience Program and Associate Professor of Biological Sciences, and was held in the BHRI lobby, located in the lower-level of ISB. The event was attended by undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty members.

Dr. Chung first shared an update about the neuroscience major, followed by talks by recent alumni of the neuroscience major who shared their experiences and advice to the attending undergraduate and graduate students and faculty. The major event of Neurofest 2024 was the announcement of the winners of the Excellence in Neuroscience Research Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to neuroscience majors who are juniors or seniors and have or are currently engaging in neuroscience research. Each awardee received a $250 scholarship and gave a 10-minute presentation on their undergraduate research.

Autumn Redd:

My name is Autumn Redd, and I am a third-year neuroscience/pre-medicine major. I am currently working at the Brain Health Research Institute under Dr. Lique Coolen, and we are studying the effects of a chronic spinal cord injury on neuropeptide expression in the spinal ejaculation generator of male rats. I have worked on this study for upwards of two years, having presented at the 3MT, neuroscience symposium, and the Undergraduate symposium. In the upcoming future, I would like to attend medical school while also continuing to indulge in the world of research!

Kendra Dillon:

I have the privilege of working in the laboratory of Dr. Aleisha Moore where I study the neuroendocrine basis of infertility. Throughout my time there, I have had the opportunity to become skilled at a multitude of laboratory techniques, present my research, and collaborate with different individuals. After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in embryology where I will work in an in-vitro fertilization (IVF) laboratory.

Aidan Wade:

In Dr. Jeffrey Mellott's lab at NEOMED, I have investigated age-related changes to the synaptic ultrastructure of the rat inferior colliculus. Last summer, I was selected to be an Amgen Scholar at Stanford University where I created a spatial map of receptor expression across the mouse hippocampus in Dr. Longzhi Tan's lab. I was recently awarded the NIH Undergraduate Scholarship, so upon graduation I will join the Noninvasive Neuromodulation Unit at the NIMH where I will study non-invasive neuromodulation techniques for psychiatric treatment in clinical populations. I hope to enter a PhD program next year to study clinical neuroscience.
