Vikrant Rona Review: More Ambition, Less Engaging

After the massive success of “KGF 2”, the focus has shifted to big-ticket movies from the Kannada film industry. Sudeep’s “Vikrannt Rona” has successfully generated hype with its pan-India promotion. Has this film lived up to expectations?

Let’s find out.

Story: Set in a fictional town named Kamarottu in a bygone era, an inspector of police gets killed brutally. A cop named Vikrant Rona steps in. The village kids are being murdered one by one. Rona begins his investigation deeper.

Just beside Janardhan Gambhira’s house, there lies a haunted house where Rona resides. At the same time, Sanju, who ran away when he was a kid, returns from London to see his mother and father Janardhan Gambhira. 

Vikrant Rona slowly zeroes on suspects. How will he unearth the story behind the killings and what secrets Vikrant is hiding in his heart?

Artistes’ Performances: Sudeep is a big star in Kannada and he exhibits all swag and style that will appeal to his core fans. As a performer, he does his best. He exhibits both style and able performance. 

Except for Sudeep, none of the actors make an impact. Most of the actors exhibit theatrical expressions. Nirup Bhandari, brother of the film's director plays an important role and his romantic track with Neetha Ashok is clumsy.  

Technical Excellence: The film is lavishly made. The production values are top class. The visual effects, cinematography, and production design are the major strengths of this movie. The technicians have delivered the best. But the songs are poor.

Analysis Of late, Kannada films are being produced on a grand scale. The ambition to attract the pan-Indian audience is visible in “Vikrant Rona”. The production design and the stylish taking the makers exhibited are part of this exercise. But style should complement the substance. “Vikrant Rona” is all sound and fury, but nothing else. 

The story takes place in a period when a liter of petrol was just Rs 6. It must be in the 1970s! And the backdrop is a deep forest. It begins much like an adventure thriller. Then it turns into a supernatural thriller. Once Sudeep enters the scene, it becomes an investigation thriller. Much later it turns into a revenge saga. Then there is a sentimental drama. 

Director Anup Bhandari has put all genres in a grinder and blended them.

In the first half of the film, all Sudeep does is investigation wearing a hat like a Sherlock Holmes. Then we see a boring romantic track between Anup Bhandari and Neetha Ashok. We also get to see a song shot on them. But despite the inconsistency, the first half of the film carries some mystery and is intriguing to some extent. Although the film is inspired by films like Aamir Khan’s “Talaash”, and Fahadh Faasil’s “Athiran”, it is watchable till the first half. 

The second half of the film goes haywire. When it becomes clear the real motive behind the killings, the film turns out to be a boring affair. Even the so-called item song featuring Jacqueline Fernandez fails to rescue it. The climax is a big letdown.

In a nutshell, “Vikrant Rona” doesn’t engage us despite having a top-quality production design. The style doesn’t help the film at all.

Kannada cinema is glorious like never before and there are several interesting set of films that are made aiming pan-Indian audience. Kannada Superstar Kiccha Sudeep tested his luck with Vikrant Rona, a big-budget film that released across the country as VR. The film released in a record number of screens today. The film is an adventurous film that is tipped with a horror backdrop. Anup Bhandari directed the film and Vikrant Rona happens in a small village named Komarottu in Karnataka. Here is the complete review of the film:

Vikrant Rona starts in a village named Komarattu. The villagers believe that there is a devil in a house and all those who step into the house would get killed by the evil. A series of murders in the village add strength to the rumor. Several kids go missing and they are found hanging on the trees. The investigating officer too gets killed and Vikrant Rona (Sudeep) takes charge. He investigates the case in his own style and the rest of the film is all about the real facts in the village and the link between the evil and the series of deaths in Komarattu. Vikrant Rona is an action thriller that has several layers. What’s so special for Vikrant Rona is that a unique forest set was constructed and most of the shoot happened in the set. The story happens 25 years ago. Sudeep makes a stylish entry after 20 minutes with an action episode. The story then revolves around Vikrant Rona. There are several predictable episodes with some thrilling incidents. The film revolves around several characters and the audience are left puzzled about the real culprit in the crime. A new face makes to the stage as the lead villain. Vikrant Rona has an old-format screenplay.

There are several other tracks in the film. Sanju’s story and Janardhan Gambhir’s track create enough confusion among the audience as they have nothing to do with the basic plot. The audience will be left surprised as the investigation never happens on a serious note. The director tries hard to bring a horror feel to the film. Vikrant Rona misses the emotion because of these attempts. The interval episodes are thrilling but they are not well designed. The second half of Vikrant Rona happens on a dull note as the investigation drama is not gripping. The real twist will not thrill the audience and Vikrant Rona ends up as a revenge drama.

Performances:

Kiccha Sudeep looks super stylish and he offers a treat for his fans. His voice is so loud that the audience will struggle to understand some of them. Nirup Bandari who played Sanju has a prominent role of Sudeep and he did his role well. His love track deviates the entire plot of Vikrant Rona. There are lot of characters in the film and most of them have no prominence.

The lead actresses too make no impact. Jacqueline Fernandez sizzles in a special song in Vikrant Rona. The production values are good. The sound design is good and the visuals take the audience to a new world. The action episodes failed to generate enough thrills. The team of Vikrant Rona should have focused on the costumes as the modern clothes were used in a film that happens in 80s.

Vikrant Rona is a predictable revenge drama that is presented as an action-adventure tipped with horror. The film suffers badly because of the poor narration though the visuals look rich. Sudeep steals the show with his performance.

పా న్ ఇండియా హీరో ప్ర‌భాస్‌ ( Prabhas ) .. ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు ప్ర‌శాంత్ నీల్ క‌లిసి చేసిన చిత్రం ‘స‌లార్‌’. ‘బాహుబ‌లి’, ‘కె.జి.యఫ్’ చిత్రాల‌తో వీళ్లు ప్రేక్ష‌కుల‌పై చూపించిన ప్ర‌భావం అంతా ఇంతా కాదు. అలాంటి హీరో, ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు క‌లిసి సినిమా చేస్తున్నారంటే ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్లోనూ, ప‌రిశ్ర‌మ‌ల్లోనూ అంచ‌నాలు ఆకాశాన్ని తాక‌డం స‌హ‌జం. ఎప్ప‌ట్నుంచో ఈ సినిమా కోసం ప్రేక్ష‌కులు ఆత్రుత‌గా ఎదురు చూస్తున్నారు. విడుదల తేదీ ద‌గ్గ‌ర ప‌డుతున్న‌కొద్దీ ‘స‌లార్’ ఫీవ‌ర్ అంత‌కంత‌కూ పెరుగుతూ వ‌చ్చింది. మ‌ల‌యాళ స్టార్ పృథ్వీరాజ్ సుకుమార‌న్ న‌టించడం ఈ చిత్రానికి మ‌రో ఆక‌ర్ష‌ణ‌. భారీ సంద‌డి మ‌ధ్య విడుద‌లైన ఈ చిత్రం ఎలా ఉంది?ప్రభాస్‌ కటౌట్‌కు తగిన హిట్‌ పడిందా?

కథేంటంటే: ఖాన్సార్ అనే సామ్రాజ్యానికి క‌ర్త రాజ మ‌న్నార్ (జ‌గ‌ప‌తిబాబు). ఆ సామ్రాజ్యంలోఒక్కొక్క ప్రాంతానికి ఒక్కొక్కరూ దొర‌గా వ్య‌వ‌హ‌రిస్తుంటారు. క‌ర్త కుర్చీ కోసం కుతంత్రాలు మొద‌ల‌వుతాయి. నేనుండ‌గా నా కొడుకు వ‌ర‌ద రాజమ‌న్నార్ (పృథ్వీరాజ్ సుకుమార‌న్‌)ని దొర‌గా చూడాలనేది త‌న కోరిక‌గా చెబుతాడు కర్త రాజ‌మ‌న్నార్. కొన్నాళ్లు ఆయ‌న త‌న సామ్రాజ్యాన్ని వ‌దిలి తిరిగొచ్చేలోపు ఖాన్సార్ క‌థ మొత్తం మారిపోతుంది. కుర్చీ కుతంత్రాలు ప‌తాక స్థాయికి చేరుకుని వ‌ర‌ద రాజ‌మ‌న్నార్‌ని అంతం చేయ‌డం వ‌ర‌కూ వెళుతుంది వ్య‌వ‌హారం. అందుకోసం మిగ‌తా దొర‌లంతా త‌మ సొంత సైన్యాన్ని సిద్ధం చేసుకుంటారు. వ‌ర‌ద త‌న సైన్యంగా చిన్న‌నాటి స్నేహితుడు దేవా (ప్ర‌భాస్‌)ని పిలుస్తాడు. ఆ ఒక్క‌డు అంత‌మంది సైన్యాన్ని ఎలా ఎదిరించాడు? త‌న ప్రాణ స్నేహితుడు వ‌ర‌ద కోసం దేవా ఏం చేశాడు? అత‌నికి స‌లార్ (Salaar Review in telugu) అనే పేరెలా వ‌చ్చింది? 25 ఏళ్ల‌పాటు ఊళ్లు మారుస్తూ త‌ల్లితో క‌లిసి ఒడిశాలో ఓ మారుమూల ప‌ల్లెలో త‌ల‌దాచుకోవ‌ల్సిన పరిస్థితి ఎందుకొచ్చింది?వీళ్ల జీవితంలోకి ఆద్య (శ్రుతిహాస‌న్) ఎలా వ‌చ్చింది? తెలియాలంటే మూవీ చూడాల్సిందే!

ఎలా ఉందంటే: ప్రభాస్... ప్ర‌శాంత్ నీల్ క‌ల‌యిక నుంచి ప్రేక్ష‌కులు, అభిమానులు ఏం ఆశిస్తారో ఆ హంగుల‌న్నీ ఈ సినిమాలో ఉన్నాయి. ‘కె.జి.యఫ్’ వ‌రుస సినిమాల‌తో ప్రేక్ష‌కుల‌పై ప్ర‌త్యేక‌మైన ముద్ర వేశాడు ప్ర‌శాంత్‌. క‌థ కంటే కూడా కోలార్ గోల్డ్ ఫీల్డ్స్ అంటూ ప్ర‌త్యేకమైన ఆ ప్ర‌పంచాన్ని, ప‌తాక స్థాయి హీరోయిజాన్ని స్టైలిష్‌గా తెర‌పై ఆవిష్క‌రించిన విధానం ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని ముగ్ధుల్ని చేసింది. ఈసారి కూడా అదే త‌ర‌హాలో ఖాన్సార్ పేరుతో ఓ క‌ల్పిత  ప్ర‌పంచాన్ని సృష్టించి దాని చుట్టూ క‌థ‌ని అల్లారు. (Salaar Review in telugu) కె.జి.యఫ్ సినిమాల‌తో పోలిస్తే హీరోయిజం, ఎలివేష‌న్ల కంటే ఇందులో డ్రామాకి ఎక్కువ ప్రాధాన్య‌మిస్తూ క‌థ‌ని న‌డిపించాడు. అలాగ‌ని హీరోయిజానికీ త‌క్కువేమీ చేయ‌లేదు. అవ‌స‌ర‌మైన‌ప్పుడంతా మంచి ఎలివేష‌న్ల‌తో ప్ర‌భాస్‌ని చాలా రోజుల త‌ర్వాత అభిమానుల‌కి న‌చ్చేలా చూపించారు. ద్వితీయార్ధంలో కాస్త గంద‌ర‌గోళంగా అనిపించినా, స‌గ‌టు ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్లో ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తించేలా డ్రామా ఉండ‌టం ఈ సినిమాకి క‌లిసొచ్చిన విష‌యం. చెప్పాల్సిన క‌థ ఇంకా మిగిలే ఉన్నా... స్నేహం, అధికార కాంక్ష‌, ప్ర‌తీకారం చుట్టూ తిరిగిన సినిమా ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది.

చిన్న‌నాటి స్నేహాన్ని చూపిస్తూ క‌థ‌ని మొద‌లుపెట్టిన ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు... ఇదే క‌థ‌ని వెయ్యేళ్ల కింద‌టి చ‌రిత్ర‌తో ముడిపెడుతూ చూపించ‌డం ఆస‌క్తిక‌రంగా ఉంటుంది. పాత్ర‌ల్ని, క‌థా ప్ర‌పంచాన్ని ప‌రిచ‌యం చేస్తూ మెల్ల‌గా అస‌లు క‌థ‌లోకి వెళుతుంది చిత్రం.  ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధం, ద్వితీయార్ధంలోనూ చాలా సేప‌టివ‌ర‌కూ హీరోయిజం క‌నిపించ‌దు. ఫస్టాఫ్‌లో ఈశ్వ‌రీరావు, సెకండాఫ్‌లో పృథ్వీరాజ్ సుకుమార‌న్ పాత్ర‌లు హీరో పాత్ర‌ని నియంత్రిస్తూ క‌నిపిస్తాయి. ఒక్క‌సారి చేతికి క‌త్తి అందాక ఇక వెనుదిరిగి చూడ‌డు ప్ర‌భాస్‌. ఒక్క‌సారిగా హీరోయిజం టాప్‌గేర్‌లోకి వెళ్లిన అనుభూతి క‌లుగుతుంది. (Salaar Review in telugu) అయితే ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాల్లో మ‌లుపు ర‌క్తి క‌ట్టిస్తుంది. ప్ర‌భాస్ అస‌లు పాత్ర అక్క‌డ ప‌రిచ‌యం కావ‌డం రెండో భాగం ‘స‌లార్‌’పై ఆస‌క్తిని పెంచుతోంది. ‘శౌర్యాంగ ప‌ర్వం’గా ‘సలార్‌: పార్ట్‌2’ను ప్రేక్ష‌కుల ముందుకు తీసుకురానున్నారు.

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే: ప్ర‌భాస్‌ ( Prabhas ) కటౌట్‌ని ప‌క్కాగా వాడుకున్న ద‌ర్శ‌కుల జాబితాలో ప్ర‌శాంత్‌నీల్ చేర‌తారు. చాలా రోజుల త‌ర్వాత ప్ర‌భాస్ త‌న అభిమానులు ఆశించిన‌ట్టుగా తెర‌పై క‌నిపించారు. ఆయ‌న క‌త్తి ప‌ట్టి ఎంత మందిని న‌రుకుతున్నా న‌మ్మేలా ఉందంటే కార‌ణం ఆ క‌టౌట్‌. త‌ల్లి చాటు కొడుకుగా, మాట జ‌వ‌దాట‌ని స్నేహితుడిగా అమాయ‌కంగా క‌నిపించిన విధానం ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. (Salaar Review in telugu) పోరాట ఘ‌ట్టాల్లో ప్ర‌భాస్ క‌నిపించిన తీరు, ఆయ‌న హీరోయిజం, స్టైల్ ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. బాగా డిజైన్ చేసిన ఆ స‌న్నివేశాల్ని అంతే అవ‌లీల‌గా చేశారు ప్ర‌భాస్‌. శ్రుతిహాస‌న్ పాత్ర‌కి పెద్ద‌గా ప్రాధాన్యం లేదు కానీ... ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధంలో ఆమే కీల‌కం.  పృథ్వీరాజ్ సుకుమార‌న్ పాత్ర ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. స్నేహితులుగా ప్ర‌భాస్‌కీ, ఆయ‌న‌కీ మ‌ధ్య మంచి కెమిస్ట్రీ క‌నిపించింది. ఈశ్వ‌రీరావు, బాబీ సింహా, జ‌గ‌ప‌తిబాబు, మైమ్ గోపి,  శ్రియారెడ్డి, ఝాన్సీ, జాన్ విజ‌య్ త‌దిత‌రులు పాత్ర‌ల ప‌రిధి మేర‌కు న‌టించారు.

సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది. ఖాన్సార్ ప్ర‌పంచాన్ని ఆవిష్క‌రించిన తీరు ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. రవి బ‌స్రూర్ బాణీలు, నేప‌థ్య‌ సంగీతం, భువ‌న్ గౌడ కెమెరా ప‌నిత‌నం చిత్రానికి ప్ర‌ధాన‌బ‌లం. అన్బ‌రివ్ స్టంట్స్ ఆక‌ర్ష‌ణీయంగా ఉన్నాయి. (Salaar Review in telugu) ఓ మామూలు క‌థ‌ని క‌ల్పిత ప్ర‌పంచం చుట్టూ అల్లి త‌న ప్ర‌త్యేక‌త‌ని ప్ర‌ద‌ర్శించాడు ప్ర‌శాంత్‌. ద్వితీయార్ధంలో స‌ర‌ళంగా క‌థ‌ని చెప్ప‌లేక‌పోయారు. చాలా చోట్ల  కె.జి.యఫ్ సినిమా గుర్తొచ్చినా...  ద్వితీయార్ధం కొద్దివ‌ర‌కు డ్రామాని పండించ‌డంలోనూ, ప్ర‌భాస్‌కి త‌గ్గట్టుగా మాస్, యాక్ష‌న్ అంశాల్ని మేళ‌వించ‌డంలోనూ ప్ర‌శాంత్ ప్ర‌తిభ క‌నిపిస్తుంది. నిర్మాణం ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది.

How to Watch Movies in Virtual Reality

With bots and console resellers snatching away many people’s chance to directly purchase a PlayStation 5 or a new OLED Switch, virtual reality headsets were a popular gift during the holiday season. The Meta (Oculus) Quest 2 in particular experienced a surge in corresponding app downloads heading into the new year.

Whether you’re finished slashing through Beat Saber’s Lady Gaga music pack or need a break from the Horizon Workroom, VR headset owners can take the time to kick back and stream a movie. (That Supernatural workout can roll over to tomorrow, you’ve earned this.)

Outside of a few experiences, watching a movie with a VR headset does not mean you are immersed in the action. When streaming in VR, your avatar is often placed in a virtual room or cinema with a 2D viewing screen.

Streaming services like Netflix and Prime Video have native apps for the Quest that are easy to download. Video-on-demand rentals through YouTube or Bigscreen require a couple more steps, but the process is straightforward. Other movies can be accessed on VR browsers or downloaded to the headset.

Although setting up a Remote Desktop Client through Bigscreen takes a few minutes, the process is worth it for those who have video files saved to their computer and mainly use a headset at home. Our guide to VR movie watching is primarily focused on the Quest 2, but some suggestions are applicable to the HTC Vive and Valve Index.

From Don’t Look Up to Twilight , you just need to download the Netflix app to watch the streaming service’s movies in VR. After the app downloads, active members can sign in and new members can sign up for Netflix. (Personally, I recommend watching the Fear Street trilogy of movies for a bit of spooky, bloody fun.)

Amazon Prime members can stream movies in VR through the Prime Video app . All you need to do is download the app and log into your profile to start watching movies like Alien , The Big Sick , and Jennifer's Body .

Any Showtime subscribers out there? The service is fairly niche, but the Showtime app lets you experience Moonlight and other award-winning movies with a VR headset.

If you want to rent recent movies to watch in VR, the YouTube app offers a sizable catalog of films at various price points. Free Guy is available to rent for $6, while Dune costs a whopping $25. Additional YouTube rental highlights include: Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar ($6) , No Time to Die ($6), and Spencer ($5). After renting a movie from YouTube, you are given one month to begin streaming and 48 hours to finish the film.

Another essential app for watching movies on your VR headset is Bigscreen . It’s basically a virtual movie theater where you enter different environments and stream movies alone or with other people. The selection of rentals is not as extensive as on YouTube, but popular movies like Arrival ($4), Top Gun ($5), and Titanic ($5) are available. Unlike in the physical world, if you're streaming a rental with friends in VR, you all have to pay the fee.

What about all the streaming services without a native app? HBO Max, Hulu, and Paramount Plus may not have VR apps, but headset owners can open the websites in a browser as a basic workaround. The Firefox Reality app is on Oculus and works more consistently for videos than other VR browsers.

Open Firefox in VR and visit the website for the streaming service you’re interested in viewing. Use your member information to log in and start watching movies. This method is a little clunky and less reliable than streaming from a dedicated app. If any issues arise, you can troubleshoot by toggling between mobile mode and desktop mode in Firefox.

The Bigscreen app can be used for a lot more than just movie rentals. Any movies available on your PC can be streamed in VR. It’s possible to load movies onto your Quest 2 for offline viewing by plugging the headset with the charging cable into a PC. Put on the headset and allow data access for the connected device.

Once this is completed, the Quest 2 should appear as a device within the This PC tab. Load any entertainment you would like to watch in the Movies folder of the Quest 2. Restart Bigscreen on your headset, and in the Watch section choose Videoplayer and then Local Video Files to access the downloads.

Staying home for the evening? It’s not necessary to download all those movies onto your headset to watch them in VR. With a PC, visit the Bigscreen website and click Download and Remote Desktop . After it downloads, log in to the same Bigscreen account on your PC and VR headset.

Now that you are remotely connected to a desktop through Bigscreen, any saved files are easy to boot up and stream. The feature will not work if you have an active VPN or if the devices are connected to different Wi-Fi networks. The straps on a VR headset may not feel comfortable enough to wear during lengthy movies. Trying to watch Netflix’s The Irishman with the Quest 2 in one sitting would likely be an unpleasant experience.

That said, streaming movies in VR is great for users who want to watch entertainment alone or connect with friends who have headsets. (Don’t worry if the people you want to watch movies with don’t have a headset. There are plenty of other options to host a virtual movie night .)

While it’s fun from time to time, I cannot see myself relying solely on VR for movies anytime in the near future. The communal aspect of sitting next to family and friends on the couch when possible still has a pretty strong appeal. Plus, the popcorn is real.

‘బ్రో’కథేంటంటే.. మార్కండేయులు అలియాస్‌ మార్క్‌(సాయి ధరమ్‌ తేజ్‌) ఓ ప్రైవేట్‌ కంపెనీలో ఉద్యోగం చేస్తుంటాడు. తల్లి(రోహిణి), ఇద్దరు చెల్లెలు(ప్రియా ప్రకాశ్‌ వారియర్‌, యువ లక్ష్మీ), అమెరికాలో ఉద్యోగం చేసే తమ్ముడు ఇదే తనలోకం. చిన్నప్పటి నుంచి కుటుంబ బాధ్యతలు తనే చూసుకుంటాడు. సమయాన్ని వృధా చేయకుండా ప్రతిక్షణం డబ్బు సంపాదన మీదే పెడతాడు. చివరకు తన ప్రియురాలు రమ్య(కేతిక శర్మ)తో కూడా సరదాగా గడపలేడు. అలా ఉరుకుల పరుగుల జీవితాన్ని గడుపుతున్న మార్క్‌ ఓ రోజు ప్రమాదానికి గురై చనిపోతాడు. అతని ఆత్మ అంధకారంలోకి వెళ్తుంది. అక్కడ ఓ వెలుగు ద్వారా టైంగాడ్‌ టైటాన్‌(పవన్‌ కల్యాణ్‌) ప్రత్యక్షమవుతాడు. తనకు చాలా బాధ్యతలు ఉన్నాయని, కొన్ని రోజులు బతికే చాన్స్‌ ఇవ్వమని టైటాన్‌ని వేడుకుంటాడు మార్కండేయ. టైటాన్‌ అతనికి 90 రోజుల సమయం ఇస్తాడు. మరి ఈ 90 రోజుల్లో మార్కండేయ తన బాధ్యతలు నెరవేర్చాడా? ఈ క్రమంలో అతను ఏం నేర్చుకున్నాడు? అనేదే మిగతా కథ. 

ఎలా ఉందంటే.. మూడేళ్ల క్రితం విడుదల విడుదలైన వినోదయ సిత్తం అనే తమిళ చిత్రానికి తెలుగు రీమేక్‌ ఇది. జీవితంలో ఓ వ్యక్తికి రెండో చాన్స్‌ వస్తే ఎలా ఉంటుంది? దానిని సద్వినియోగం చేసుకుంటాడా? ఆయన అనుకున్న పనులన్నీ జరుగుతాయా? లేదా? అనే నేపథ్యంలో ఈ కథ సాగుతుంది. అయితే మాతృకకు, తెలుగు ‘బ్రో’కు చాలా వ్యత్యాసం ఉంది. పవన్‌ కల్యాణ్‌ని దృష్టిలో పెట్టుకొని చాలా మార్పులు చేశారు.

అక్కడ రెండో చాన్స్‌ వయసు అయిపోయిన ఓ ముసలాయనకు వస్తే.. ఇక్కడ రెండో చాన్స్‌ ఓ యువకుడికి వస్తుంది. అలాగే అక్కడ టైంగాడ్‌ పాత్ర నిడివి చాలా తక్కువ, కానీ తెలుగులో టైంగాడ్‌ దాదాపు సినిమా మొత్తం ఉంటాడు. అయితే ఈ మార్పులు ఫ్యాన్స్‌ని అలరిస్తాయి కానీ సాధారణ ప్రేక్షకులను మాత్రం అంతగా ఆకట్టుకోలేవు. లుక్స్‌ పరంగా మాత్రం వింటేజ్‌ పవన్‌ కల్యాణ్‌ని తెరపై చూస్తారు.

సినిమా ప్రారంభమైన పది నిమిషాలకే పవన్‌ ఎంట్రీ ఉంటుంది. ఆ తర్వాత ఎలాంటి సాగదీత లేకుండా అసలు కథ ప్రారంభమవుతుంది. సాయితేజ్‌ తో కలిసి పవన్‌ కల్యాణ్‌ భూమి మీదకు వచ్చకా..అక్కడ జరిగే కొన్ని కామెడీ సన్నివేశాలు నవ్వులు పూయిస్తాయి. ఎమోషనల్‌ సీన్స్‌ సోసోగా ఉంటాయి. ప్రతిసారి పవన్‌ని ఎలివేట్‌ చేస్తూ చూపించడం ప్యాన్స్‌ని అలరిస్తుంది, కానీ సాధారణ ప్రేక్షకుడికి అతిగా అనిపిస్తుంది.

ఈ  సినిమాలో ఎక్కువ శాతం పవన్ కల్యాణ్ పాత పాటలను పెట్టడం కూడా మైనస్సే. ఒకటి రెండు సన్నివేశాలు అంటే ఓకే కానీ, సినిమా మొత్తం అదే ఉంటే చూసే ప్రేక్షకుడికి ఇబ్బందిగా ఉంటుంది. ఈ చిత్రం విషయం లోను అదే జరిగింది. ఇంటర్వెల్‌ బ్యాంగ్‌ కూడా ఫ్యాన్స్‌ కోసమే చేశారు. సెకండాఫ్‌ కాస్త ఎమోషనల్‌గా సాగుతుంది. అయితే సాయితేజ్‌ పాత్ర పడే సంఘర్షణ, భావోద్వేగాలు ప్రేక్షకులకు చేరవయ్యేలా తీయడంలో దర్శకుడు విఫలం అయ్యాడు. కథ, కథనం బాగున్నప్పటికీ.. ఏదో మిస్‌ అయిందనే ఫీలింగ్‌ కలుగుతుంది.

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే.. ఈ చిత్రంలో హీరో సాయి తేజ్‌ అయినప్పటికీ సినిమా మొత్తం పవన్‌ కల్యాణ్‌ పాత్ర ఉంటుంది. టైంగాడ్‌ టైటాన్‌గా పవన్‌ తనదైన నటనతో ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. తెరపై వింటేజ్‌ పవన్‌ను చూస్తారు. ఇక మార్క్‌ పాత్రకు తేజ్‌ న్యాయం చేశాడు. రోడ్డు ప్రమాదం తర్వాత తేజ్‌ బాడీలో మార్పులు వచ్చాయి. కాస్త బొద్దుగా అయ్యాడు.అది స్క్రీన్‌పై స్పష్టంగా కనిపిస్తుంది. డ్యాన్స్‌ కూడా ఆకట్టుకునేలా చేయలేకపోయాడు.

మార్క్‌ లవర్‌ రమ్యగా కేతికా శర్మ ఉన్నంతలో పర్వాలేదు. హీరో చెల్లెలు గాయత్రిగా ప్రియాప్రకాశ్‌ వారియర్‌ చక్కగా నటించింది. బ్రహ్మానందం ఒకే​ ఒక సన్నివేశంలో కనిపిస్తాడు. హీరో తల్లిగా రోహిణి, బాస్‌గా వెన్నెల కిశోర్‌తో పాటు మిలిగిన నటీనటులు తమ పాత్రల పరిధిమేర నటించారు.

ఇక సాంకేతిక విషయాలకొస్తే.. తమన్‌ సంగీతం జస్ట్‌ ఓకే. కొన్ని పాటలు బలవంతంగా ఇరికించినట్లు అనిపిస్తాయి. నేపథ్య సంగీతం బాగుంది. స్క్రీన్‌ప్లే, డైలాగ్స్‌లో తివిక్రమ్‌ మార్క్‌ అంతగా కనిపించదు. సుజీత్ వాసుదేవ్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ బాగుంది. ఎడిటింగ్‌ క్రిస్పీగా ఉంది.  నిర్మాణ విలువలు సినిమా స్థాయికి తగ్గట్లు ఉన్నతంగా ఉన్నాయి. -అంజి శెట్టి, సాక్షి వెబ్‌డెస్క్‌

ర‌చ‌యిత సృష్టించిన పాత్ర‌లు అత‌డికి ఎదురుతిర‌గ‌డం అనే పాయింట్‌తో సినిమాలోని ఫ‌స్ట్‌సీన్ ఇంట్రెస్ట్ క్రియేట్ చేస్తుంది. ర‌చ‌యిత రాసిన ప్ర‌తి సీన్ రియ‌ల్‌లైఫ్‌లో జ‌రుగుతుండ‌టంతో ఆ త‌ర్వాత ఏం జ‌రుగుతుంతో అనే క్యూరియాసిటీ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్లో క్రియేట్ చేశాడు డైరెక్ట‌ర్‌. డీజీపీ కూతురు కిడ్నాప్ కావ‌డం, ఆ కేసును విక్ర‌మ్ చేప‌ట్ట‌డంతో సినిమా కొత్త మ‌లుపు తిరుగుతుంది. ఈ కేసులోని ఒక్కో చిక్కుముడిని విప్పుకుంటూ విక్ర‌మ్ వెళ్ల‌డాన్ని థ్రిల్లింగ్‌గా ఆవిష్క‌రించారు.

దేశ‌వ్యాప్తంగా సంచ‌ల‌నం సృష్టించిన దిశ ఎన్‌కౌంట‌ర్ సంఘ‌ట‌న నుంచి స్ఫూర్తి పొందుతూ సినిమాలోని మెయిన్ పాయింట్‌ను డైరెక్ట‌ర్ అర‌వింద్ శ్రీనివాస‌న్ రాసుకున్న‌ట్లుగా అనిపిస్తుంది. ఆ స‌న్నివేశాల‌న్నీ తెలుగు ప్రేక్ష‌కుల‌కు క‌నెక్ట్ అవుతాయి. క్లైమాక్స్‌లో వ‌చ్చే ట్విస్ట్‌ను డెప్త్‌గా రాసుకున్నాడు డైరెక్ట‌ర్‌. కొన్నిసార్లు పై అధికారుల ఒత్తిడితో ఉన్న‌తాధికారులు ఎలాంటి త‌ప్పులు చేస్తుంటారు. వాటి ప‌ర్యావ‌స‌నాలు ఏమిటో చెప్పిన తీరు బాగుంది.

సినిమా క‌థ బాగున్నా చాలా చోట్ల ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు లాజిక్స్‌ను మిస్ చేశాడు. డీజీపీకి అండ‌ర్ క‌వ‌ర్ ఆఫీస‌ర్ ఎవ‌రోతెలియ‌క‌పోవ‌డం విడ్డూరంగా అనిపిస్తుంది. విరామం ముందు వ‌చ్చే మ‌ర్డ‌ర్ సీన్ క‌థ‌కు సంబంధం లేన‌ట్లుగా సాగుతుంది.

అండ‌ర్ క‌వ‌ర్ ఆఫీస‌ర్‌గా...

విక్ర‌మ్ అనే అండ‌ర్ క‌వ‌ర్ పోలీస్‌గా అరుళ్‌నిధి ఇంటెన్స్ యాక్టింగ్‌తో మెప్పించాడు. ఆద్యంతం సీరియ‌స్‌గా అత‌డి క్యారెక్ట‌ర్ సాగుతుంది. నెగెటివ్ షేడ్స్‌తో కూడిన పాత్ర‌లో సీనియ‌ర్ హీరోయిన్ మ‌ధుబాల క‌నిపించింది. రైట‌ర్ సుబ్ర‌హ్మ‌ణ్యంగా అచ్యుత్ కుమార్ క్యారెక్ట‌ర్ ఈ సినిమాకు హైలైట్‌గా నిలిచింది. స్మృతివెంక‌ట్‌, మైమ్ గోపీ త‌మ ప‌రిధుల మేర చ‌క్క‌గా న‌టించారు.
