Business studies focuses on the nature and role of business, the internal and external factors of a business environment, the functions and processes of businesses and responsibilities of management.
Students investigate business information and issues, communicate in appropriate formats and apply mathematical concepts related to the business world.
Students use case studies of small and global businesses to identify and discuss the essential concepts of a business, from implementation to management and expansion of the operations. Additionally, students identify business issues, analyse problems and propose solutions.
Key topics of the course include:

Business Studies Stage 6 Syllabus (2010) contains the syllabus and support materials including standards packages, HSC exam specifications and past papers.
This case study is suitable for using as an example in the Business Management topic in the Preliminary Business Studies course. It will assist students to develop an understanding of financial, marketing, and operational key business functions, and their management and application to business situations.

Writing the business report
What do you do?
• Break down the question • Usually a paragraph, stimulus, take highlighter (key points), • Plan your response • Write your report
Planning underlining/highlighting the keywords to isolate them and ensure that you are definitely answering what is being asked of you look at the directive verb – this should dictate how you structure your response
Use a system of headings, subheadings and numberings, a good guide is:
1. Executive Summary 2. Heading 2.1. Subheading 2.2. Subheading 2.3. Recommendation 3. Conclusion
For example: 2. Global Marketing Strategies 2.1. Global Pricing 2.1.1. Advantages 2.1.2. Disadvantages 2.2. Customisation 2.2.1. Advantages 2.2.2. Disadvantages 2.3. Recommendation 3. Conclusion

This lesson / resource is from Unit 1 - Understanding Business Activity and looks specifically at Business Plans .
I normally teach this in Year 10 and it has been designed for GCSE with the following learning objectives:
- Know what a Business Plan is and why a person might write one.
- Understand what is required in writing a business plan and the features of one.
- Assess the problems a business might have if they do not have a business plan
This download includes:

All necessary resources to run the lesson are included in this download and this links back to earlier topics (enterprise / Entrepreneurs and Added Value) and also to later topics such as Legal Structures / Marketing.
The aim of all my resources is to provide lessons / activities of good quality that will add value to your lessons / schemes of work without any extra planning.
All activities and resources have been used in class and any errors will be fixed and resources updated as soon as I am aware of any errors.
