None of the phrases listed is correct. You would more appropriately use "Fecha de entregar" as the phrase meaning "Due Date" or more literally: Date of turn-in, for HW and School assignments. Hope this helps! Al

How To Ask For, Write And Say The Date In Spanish

Knowing how to write, say and ask the date in Spanish is a fundamental skill that you’ll frequently use if you live and work in a Spanish-speaking country .

As a beginner, this is one of the first things you’ll learn.

However, it’s common to get tripped up on the correct way to form Spanish dates, so I’ll clarify it for you in this guide.

Learn how to write, say and ask the date in Spanish here.

How to ask for the date in Spanish

If you’ve forgotten today’s date and need to ask someone what it is, there’s one question that you’ll need to remember:

¿Cuál es la fecha de hoy?

You may approach someone using the word disculpe (if you don’t know the person) or disculpa if you do know the person, and use this question to find out the date.

Keep reading to learn how to say or write the date in response to this question.

Essential vocabulary and phrases related to writing and saying the date in Spanish

Before we get started, here are some essential vocabulary and phrases related to writing and saying the date in Spanish for complete beginners.

Using days of the week for Spanish dates

When you write the date in Spanish, remember that you should not capitalise the first letter of the day of the week.

Here are the Spanish days of the week or días de la semana and how you should write them:

To say “on [day of the week]”, don’t use the preposition en . Just use el or los .

So, instead of en los martes, jugamos futbol make sure you omit the en to sound like a native speaker ( los martes jugamos futbol ).

Usage examples:

El martes, voy a hacer mis deberes.

Voy al club de fútbol los domingos.

Using months of the year for Spanish dates

When writing the date in Spanish, you also do not need to capitalize the first letter of the month of the year.

Here are all 12 months of the year in Spanish and how you should write them:

To say “in [month],” use the preposition en .

Usage example:

En mayo, voy a empezar a estudiar.

How are Spanish dates ( fechas ) different from English ones?

The main difference between Spanish fechas and English dates is that while you use a cardinal number when writing and saying the date in Spanish, you use an ordinal number in English.

This difference means you use ordinal numbers such as 1st, 2nd or 3rd and so on for English dates, but 1, 2, 3 and so on for Spanish dates.

El 2 de mayo 2023

Writing the date in Spanish using numbers

Say you’re filling out a form and need to record today’s date using numbers.

The easiest way to remember the format is to keep in mind that the day comes first, then the month and finally, the year. This format is unlike the format you use if you use American English, but the same as the British English format.

  • August 16, 1991 – 16/08/1991
  • May 24, 1984 – 24/05/1984
  • August 30, 1968 – 30/08/1968

Writing and saying the date using days of the week and month of the year

You have the option to say or write out the month using letters if you are writing the date in a more formal situation.

The formula you may use to help you remember the structure you require for this option is:

Hoy + es + el + [day of the week] + de + [month of the year]

If you are signing an official document, the form may require you to spell the month using letters.

Hoy es el 11 de enero

Hoy es el 25 de diciembre

Hoy es el 6 de noviembre

Using el primero to write or state the first day of the month

In Spanish, we use the ordinal phrase el primero when stating the first day of the month. If you want to say “January first”, you may say el primero de enero .

If you want to write “February first”, you may write:

  • Es el primero de febrero

Pronouncing el primero to state the first day of the month

If you are telling someone that an important event is happening on the first of February, you may be wondering how to pronounce this date. Here is a phonetic representation of how to pronounce el primero :

  • How to write it: Es el primero de febrero
  • How to pronounce it: Ehs el prih-mer-oh deh feb-rer-oh

Adding the year when stating the date

If you need to specify which year you are talking about, use the following formula (which you will notice adds the preposition de and the year to end of our earlier formula):

Hoy + es + el + [day of the week] + de + [month of the year] + de + [year]

Hoy es el 11 de enero de 2020

Hoy es el 31 de diciembre de 1992

Hoy es el 5 de noviembre de 1933

Saying the date in full in Spanish

So how do you say the date in full in Spanish?

Remember, the key components when saying the date in Spanish include the day of the week, the date of the month, the month and the year.

Other examples:

  • Hoy es martes, el 10 de enero de 2023
  • Hoy es martes, el 16 de agosto de 2022
  • Ayer fue el lunes, el 9 de enero de 2023
  • Ayer fue el lunes, el 15 de agosto de 2022

Writing, saying and asking the date in Spanish

Learning how to write, say and ask the date in Spanish may seem complicated, but remember the formulas in this article, and you’ll have less trouble.

Don’t forget that the American format for writing the date is not the same as the Spanish format, and never capitalize the month of the year or day of the week.

Practice writing, saying and asking the date in Spanish to remember the critical structures and get it perfect.

Pregnancy Due Date Calculator

Cheryl Axelrod, M.D.

BabyCenter's Due Date Calculator

Use our pregnancy calculator by plugging in the date of your last period, the date you conceived if you know it, the timing of your IVF transfer, or your first ultrasound date. The Due Date Calculator will do the rest!

How is my due date calculated?

There are several ways your due date is determined. If you happen to know the day you conceived, you can count 38 weeks from that day to find your due date. (Human gestation takes about 38 weeks.)

But very few expectant moms know exactly when they conceived. Even if you only had sex once during your fertile period , you wouldn't conceive on that day unless you happen to be ovulating.

Sperm can live for up to five days inside your fallopian tubes. Meaning it could be up to five days after you have sex that you release an egg (ovulate) and it gets fertilized by a waiting sperm. That's the day you conceive .

So without knowing the day of conception, how does anyone determine a due date?

First day of your last period

The most common way to calculate your pregnancy due date is by counting 40 weeks from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) (or choosing that option from our tool’s menu above). And that's how most healthcare providers do it.

If your menstrual cycle length is the average length (28-day cycle), your period probably started about two weeks before you conceived. This explains why pregnancies are said to last 40 weeks instead of 38 weeks.

This method doesn't take into account how long your cycle actually is or when you think you might have conceived. But generally speaking, women typically ovulate about two weeks after their menstrual cycle starts. And women are more likely to know when their last period started than the day they ovulated.

If you know the first day of your last menstrual period, you can use our Due Date Calculator to predict your estimated due date.

Conception date

If you do happen to know precisely when you conceived – say, if you were using an  ovulation predictor kit or tracking your ovulation symptoms – you can calculate your pregnancy due date based on your conception date. Just choose that calculation method from the pulldown above and put in your date.

Remember, you don't necessarily conceive on the day you have sex.

IVF transfer date

If you conceived through IVF, you can calculate your due date using your IVF transfer date. If you had a Day 5 embryo transfer, count 261 days from your transfer date. If you had a Day 3 embryo transfer, count 263 days. Or select "IVF" from our Due Date Calculator method choices.

Ultrasound scan

If you want to try a different method for calculating your due date and are among those who have at least one early, first trimester ultrasound, that scan in your doctor’s or midwife’s office can help you and your practitioner pinpoint when your baby is expected to arrive.

The timing of an early ultrasound can sometimes more accurately date the pregnancy than your last menstrual period, conception date, and other methods. Just choose "ultrasound" from our Due Date Calculator dropdown menu.

Remember, however, that not all pregnant women will have an ultrasound at their first prenatal appointment or another early check-up. Some practitioners perform them for all expectant patients, while others only do them if your due date can’t be calculated by the usual methods or determined via a physical exam.

They might also do early ultrasounds if you have risk factors including previous pregnancy complications, a history of miscarriages or other pregnancy losses, irregular periods or trouble conceiving, various chronic health conditions, or are 35 or older.

Can my due date change?

Your healthcare provider might revise your due date if your baby is measured during a first trimester ultrasound scan and found to be much bigger or smaller than expected for gestational age . This is more likely to happen if you have an irregular menstrual cycle length that makes it hard to pinpoint the date of conception.

Your healthcare provider will measure your baby during that ultrasound exam to figure out how far along your baby is and then provide you with a new due date.

What if I already know my due date?

If you already know your due date, you can use this pregnancy calculator to see your pregnancy timeline. It will tell you when you'll hit various milestones, and when you may be due for  prenatal tests and prenatal visits .

You'll also find out what your baby's sign and birthstone will probably be and a few famous people who were born on your due date.

How likely am I to give birth on my due date?

Of course, a due date calculation is always approximate, whether it's from our pregnancy calculator  or from your doctor or midwife. Only 1 in 20 women delivers on her due date. You're just as likely to go into labor any day during the two weeks before or after.

Want more information about how the weeks, months, and trimesters of pregnancy are counted? See our  pregnancy timing chart .

How soon can I take a pregnancy test?

With all this talk about pregnancy due dates, you may be wondering when you can take a pregnancy test . To ensure you get the most accurate reading, it's best to wait a few days after your missed period to take a pregnancy test.

At-home urine tests measure the amount of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) present in your body. If you take a pregnancy test before you miss your period, you may not get an accurate result, despite what some tests advertise.

If you're getting a blood test in your provider's office, you may get results sooner. These tests also measure the amount of hCG in your bloodstream, but they're more sensitive than at-home urine tests. Blood tests may be able to detect pregnancy six to eight days after ovulation.

O.J. Simpson, NFL star whose murder trial gripped the nation, dies of cancer at 76

O.J. Simpson , the former NFL star who was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife and her friend in a televised trial that gripped the nation, has died of cancer, according to his family.

"He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren," the family said in a statement posted on X . "During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace."

Reports circulated in February that Simpson had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and was in hospice care as he underwent chemotherapy. He denied that he was in hospice in a video posted on X, but did not address whether he'd been diagnosed with cancer.

“Hospice? Hospice? You talking ‘bout hospice?” he said in the video with a laugh, adding that he doesn’t know who started the rumors.

Orenthal James Simpson played 11 seasons in the National Football League and was known as "The Juice" to his fans, but his sports legacy was tarnished forever in the 1990s after his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman were killed.

O.J. Simpson of the Buffalo Bills breaks away from Steeler tacklers in 1975.

Brown Simpson, 35, and Goldman, 25, were found stabbed to death outside her Los Angeles home in 1994.

On June 13, 1994, Goldman was returning sunglasses that the mother of Brown Simpson had left at a restaurant where he worked. The two were stabbed and slashed dozens of times, and their bodies were found the next day.

When Los Angeles police officers went to Simpson's home to speak to him about the slayings, Simpson did not answer the door but officers noticed a trail of blood leading to his car, as well as blood on his car.

Once a revered athlete, Simpson went from a Hall of Fame icon to a murder suspect.

Days later, officials charged Simpson with the murders and he attempted to evade arrest, resulting in an infamous hourslong police chase along Southern California's highways in his white Ford Bronco .

Simpson's case went to trial in 1995 and was broadcast to millions of viewers across the nation. The court case was dubbed the "trial of the century" as it dragged on for months and transformed into a public spectacle.

Feelings over the trial have remained mixed over the years, with many accusing the Los Angeles Police Department of racism in its handling of the case. Others believe that Simpson's ability to retain high-powered attorneys allowed him to get away with murder.

A white Ford Bronco, driven by Al Cowlings and carrying O.J. Simpson, is trailed by police cars as it travels on a southern California freeway in Los Angeles on June 17, 1994.

The trial made prosecutors Christopher Darden and Marcia Clark household names, in addition to Simpson's defense attorneys Johnnie Cochran, Alan Dershowitz and Robert Kardashian.

He was acquitted of both murders in a controversial verdict. Two years later, he was found civilly liable for wrongful death in the double homicide case.

Despite his acquittal in the criminal trial, many still believed Simpson was guilty, a belief bolstered by a jury ordering him to pay $33 million to Goldman's family in the civil case — damages that were never paid in full.

O.J. Simpson holds up his hands before the jury after putting on a new pair of gloves similar to the infamous bloody gloves during his double-murder trial in Los Angeles on June 21, 1995.

Goldman's father, Fred Goldman, spoke to NBC News by phone Thursday and described Simpson's death as "no great loss."

“The only thing I have to say is it’s just further reminder of Ron being gone all these years," he said. "It’s no great loss to the world. It’s a further reminder of Ron’s being gone.”

Bob Costas, the sports broadcaster who worked with Simpson for years at NBC Sports covering the NFL, said Simpson leaves behind “a complicated legacy, to put it mildly.”

“I can’t think of anyone historical or someone that we may have known where the first chapter and the second chapter of their lives are such a stark contrast … revered and then reviled,” Costas said on NBC’s “TODAY” show Friday.

In 2007, Simpson led an armed robbery attempt of a sports memorabilia dealer in Las Vegas. He argued in court that he was recovering his own stolen items, but his defense failed to sway the jury.

O.J. Simpson sits during a break on the second day of an evidentiary hearing in Clark County District Court in Las Vegas on May 14, 2013.

He was convicted and sentenced to 33 years in prison, of which he served only nine before he was released on parole .

Simpson spoke to The Associated Press by phone in 2019 , telling them that he was healthy and happy living in Las Vegas. He maintained that he believed his robbery conviction was unfair, but said: “I believe in the legal system and I honored it. I served my time.”

The Simpson murder trial was re-enacted and relitigated decades later in FX’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson,” an installment of the network’s popular “American Crime Story” series in 2016. Released that same year was the Academy Award-winning documentary "O.J.: Made in America," detailing Simpson's rise and fall.

Simpson was born in San Francisco and raised in public housing, going to a local community college before transferring to the University of Southern California. He was part of the school's national championship in 1967 and earned the Heisman Trophy the next year.

He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 1969 as a No. 1 overall pick.

According to NBC Sports , Simpson was the first player in the league to rush for 2,000 or more yards in a season and is considered the best running back of his era.

Simpson had three children from his first marriage to Marguerite Whitley, one of whom died in a drowning accident as a toddler.

He also shared two children with Brown Simpson.

Following her murder and his acquittal, Simpson won custody of their shared children and moved to Miami with them. His custody fight with his former-in-laws also drew headlines as the children's grandparents took him to court in a bitter legal battle.
