Essay – digitalisation in daily life.

Digitalisation in Daily Life Essay: Digitalization refers to the use of computers and internet to facilitate various functions and actions. Digitalization started way back in the 1950s with the advent of computers. Since then, the process has continued to increase its usage diversity.  In 2015, the flagship programme “Digital India” enabled the mainstreaming of digital services in India. Digitalization has enabled efficiency and lower operational costs in production. With better User Interface (UI) and seamless communication, digitalization has some very obvious advantages.

Digitalisation in Daily Life

Digitalization of communication through the introduction of software applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Microsoft Teams, etc., drastically changed the way we communicate with each other. We can now connect with anyone at any given time without being restricted by time and space/place. Improved and fast communication due to digitalization has allowed us humans to function easily and with much less errors. Also, digitalization has aided the infotainment industry. We can watch documentaries, news, movies with a click on the screen in the comfort of our homes or from anywhere we want.

In the economic and commercial sector too, we see how digitalization has revolutionized our functions. One of the most prominent changes as can be seen has been the increased usage of UPI or Unified Payments Interface. UPI has reformed the way we conduct commercial transactions. It has provided inclusivity for small scale businesses in the economy by allowing them to set up credit-acquiring systems conveniently. The introduction of UPI has reduced the dependency on the previous card/cash-based payment systems. The new digital infrastructure has moreover encouraged entrepreneurs to open up start-ups and online businesses. Thus, we see that many Indian businesses have started emerging in the domestic and international market, boosting the country’s economy as well as providing a much-needed self-dependent employment ecosystem. Moreover, availing services like applying for Aadhaar or PAN has been digitalized too which makes the process easier and more efficient.

The Covid-19 pandemic best highlighted the digitalization of daily life. With every physical contact-based activity being suspended for a considerable period of time, digitalization of daily life was the only option. Education was made digital through online classes conducted through apps like Google meet. Use of various online software for daily activities increased. Even the healthcare sector had been digitalized. It can be insisted that a rapid digitalization of daily life was what helped us avoid stagnancy. Thus, one can easily witness their digitalized life wherever they look.

Cybersecurity threats are also a significant concern, with hackers targeting individuals, businesses, and critical infrastructure with increasing frequency and sophistication. Furthermore, the digital divide persists, with marginalized communities facing barriers to access and participation in the digital economy. Whether it’s due to a lack of infrastructure, affordability issues, or digital literacy gaps, millions of people around the world are being left behind in the digital revolution.

Essay on Digitalization (1199 Words)

What is Digitalization?

Digitalization is more commonly known as digitization of things and is basically the concept of converting all the human readable data into a computer readable data.

The human readable data (analog format) is our normal script which includes numbers, languages, etc. but a computer readable data (digital format) is different from the human readable data as it is in the binary format or in the form of bits.

There is another concept of digitalization in India which involves using the digitization technologies and adapting to them in our day to day.

This campaign is launched by the Government of India. Its main objective is to provide all the facilities to the citizens through internet.

For example, applying for any document online, instead of going to the government office and waiting in the long queue to get your chance of even getting the offline application form.

Is there a difference between Digitization & Digitalization?

Yes, there is a difference between digitalization and digitization. The term digitization simply means converting your physical data into its digital version.

And the term Digitalization means adapting to the already digitized material.

For example, a person learns to use the online system of applying for a domicile certificate instead of going to the government office, taking the application form, filling and submitting it back to the office. This process is called as digitalization.

The process of digitization of your data does not mean that your physical data will be destroyed; it simply means that there will be a digitalized copy of your physical data.

It is more of a technical process than the process of digitalization. The process of digitalization is much of a maintaining process of the digitized data or digitization.

There is another concept called ‘digital transformation’ which can be explained as a broader definition of digitalization and on a larger scale affecting a larger group of population.

This transformation is only achieved when there is a complete adaptation to the concept of Digitalization.

Why Digitalization?

The process of digitalization in a country is a very huge step and requires a lot of time to settle with the idea of not using the traditional methods of business transaction but switching to an online format.

The digital transaction is a very time saving and handy concept as it requires only a computer and the proper internet connection along with the personal information regarding the transaction.

India has just stepped into the world of digitalization; therefore, it will take time to adapt to it. But it is definitely a call of digital evolution for a developing country like India.

Whenever any business or government institution introduces the digital aspect of transaction it is not easy for the citizens to adapt to it over a night.

The newly introduced online format will first be tested by the citizens if it’s reliable or not and if it is really qualitative (as we all know every facility provided to the common man matters only if its quality is good).

Over a period of time, the citizens then adapt to the concept of digitalization. India has stepped into the world of full/complete Digitalization and is making its way through the various ideas and aspects of digitalization and therefore, adapting to it.

Digital India: A Dream turned into a Reality

Digital India can also be referred to as a National Movement to achieve digital transformation which was launched two and a half years ago on 01/06/2015.

The main objective of this programme is to make India digitally strong among all the other developed as well as developing countries.

As it is of common knowledge that use of the internet and the new developing communication technologies is increasing day by day.

It has now reached to such a point that the human race has become dependent on the Internet facilities. Therefore, to promote and facilitate this new evolving concept of digitalization, the Government has launched a programme called “ Digital India ”.

Digitalization targets many different digital challenges faced by the Society which include provision of proper broadband highway, to provide proper mobile connection services (communication services), information for all sections of the society varying in age, gender and occupation.

This scheme also focuses on providing job opportunities through various schemes mainly the Make in India scheme.

The main motive of this programme is to provide the digital infrastructure, all the government services in a digitalized manner and to spread literacy via the internet.

Digital Infrastructure refers to the infrastructure or basic amenities required to carry out proper digital transactions.

This may include providing the software required for digital transaction, the cloud services for storage of the records entered in the different government schemes and applications, providing with the knowledge of how to avail the digital services, etc.

The government services (e-government services) which include applying for various documents like domicile certificates, caste certificates, income certificates, etc. by using the online facility is the secondary objective of the government.

The third very important and urgent objective is to make each and every Indian citizen a literate citizen of this country. The more the literacy rate, more will be the development rate of the country.

By providing the digital services the government will make sure that the knowledge is spread to the citizens living in remote areas as well as the poorest citizens of the country.

The maximum population of India belongs to the rural area and is surviving on an agricultural occupation. Therefore, these sections of the population need to be supported by providing them with all the education facilities as well as occupational facilities and for this, the most convenient option is the digital scheme launched by the government.

Another concept which is most widely seen is that of online education and working online that is in a virtual environment where all the communication happens over email or phone calls.

Online Education is a new concept but is being accepted by the young generation at a very fast rate. This involves taking courses or getting education i.e. gaining knowledge about any interesting topic through internet facilities.

There are different schemes launched by the government for the people working in various sectors to promote digitalization as well as to assure the people that it is a reliable, quick and a beneficial transformation.

Digitalization not only saves time but also allows the applicant to get maximum benefit from the respective scheme. For example, we must have heard a lot of times that the schemes launched by the government do not reach till the common man because there is corruption in the middle and therefore, the people can not avail the financial benefits.

To reduce this corruption in the middle of the process there is a direct connection now made by the government in the form of e-government services.

Digital India scheme is so far considered to be the most useful application and the best example of digitalization. It is attracting a lot of people due to its unique application and easy to understand.

The Digital India campaign was launched in 2015 by our Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi. The goal of this campaign was to provide internet connectivity to rural areas, launch applications that facilitate online payments as well as move businesses and other institutions online so that they can better connect with the world. The campaign aimed to create a stable digital infrastructure in the country and help people easily access government services digitally.

Today, almost every household in India has a smartphone. People are using the internet to study, build their businesses, learn new things, send and receive money, buy various things as well as access government facilities such as healthcare. The Digital India campaign has helped a lot in modernising India.

We are currently living in a digital world which is becoming more and more technologically advanced as days go by. There was a time when we had to go to markets to buy groceries, visit banks to deposit or withdraw money, go to railway stations to book tickets and attending school always meant going to a physical place.

Now, one can buy everything from groceries to luxury products by global brands with just one click. One can book cabs, buses, trains and flights online as well as plan their vacation and stay. Even our education system has evolved and become digitalised. Now, students can attend lectures and even take examinations online.

For India, 2015 was a big year because it was in this year that our Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, launched the “Digital India” campaign. This campaign aimed to provide internet connectivity to rural areas, launch applications that facilitate online payments as well as move businesses and other institutions online so that they can better connect with the world.

The campaign indeed helped people understand the benefits of digitalisation. Now, almost every household in India has a smartphone. People are using the internet to study, build and grow their businesses as well as to learn new things. Apart from all these things, the campaign also helped create a stable digital infrastructure in the country and allowed people to easily access government services digitally.

Gone are the days when we had to go to markets to buy groceries, visit banks to deposit or withdraw money, go to railway stations to book tickets and attend school always meant going to a physical place. Today, one can buy everything from locally-sourced groceries to luxury products produced by global brands with just one click. One can book cabs, buses, trains and flights online as well as plan their vacation and stay. Even our education system has evolved and become digital. Now, students can attend lectures and even take examinations online.

Until a few years ago, while the rest of the world was already reaping the benefits of digitalisation, India was still far behind. Most of our villages had no internet connectivity and even many people living in urban areas were digitally illiterate.

On 1st July 2015, our prime minister, Mr Narendra Modi, launched a campaign called “Digital India” with the goal of providing internet connectivity to rural areas, launching applications that facilitate online payments as well as moving businesses and other institutions online so that they can better connect with the world. The campaign aimed to create a stable digital infrastructure in the country, help people easily access government services digitally as well as increase digital literacy.

Under the Digital India campaign, many UPI applications were launched that facilitated online payments and thus, helped the economy. This helped boost India’s GDP. Because of digitalisation, paperwork in every sector of work has been reduced which is a great benefit. The digitalisation of India has also boosted the small business market in the country as more and more people are going online with their businesses. This has helped connect buyers and sellers from all parts of the country.

Although the digital India campaign has been greatly successful, it did face a few challenges when it was first launched. A huge population of the country was digitally illiterate, the digital infrastructure wasn’t very stable, and even the speed of the internet being provided was pretty low. There was also a lack of coordination amongst various departments participating in the programme.

However, the campaign managed to overcome all the challenges and India emerged as the second-fastest digital adopter among the major digital economies in the world. Today, India has come a long way in terms of digitalisation and the “Digital India” campaign has played a major role in it.

I have tried to write these essays in very simple words for a better understanding of all kinds of students. Digitalization is transforming all facets of society, not just work environments, and in terms of educational contexts, the transformation is occurring with or without strategic initiatives that ensure ongoing quality of teaching and learning environments. Integration of technology into teaching and learning is not new, but the rapid rate and pace of technological advancement is new, especially regarding new Internet, ICT and digital technologies. The field of education is mainly reactive, as new disruptive technologies develop in other industries and are then applied and accommodated into existing educational cultures and systems. This chapter provides an overview of technology integration in education from computers to other more advanced forms of digital technologies. The transformative potential of digitalization in education is exciting and presents many opportunities and challenges, given new trends and developments in digital technologies.

Digitalization in daily life

essay 400 words topic digitalisation in daily life

Admittedly, “digitalization” is a term that describes a vast field. It starts with reading newspapers on the Internet and does not end with electronic injection in the car engine. Digitalization can allow, facilitate, and enable many things, but it can also complicate, make complicated, and many unrealizable things. The fact is that digitalization is an integral part of our daily lives. The only question is how much digitalization we as humans can endure, or how and where we can benefit from it in practice.

As a digital agency, DeSight Studio® naturally thinks again and again about where the digital business field is developing. Trends become recognizable, and adaptations of existing web presences become necessary. At the same time, the human element must never be disregarded in this equation. After all, it is people (users) who have to work and deal with technical developments and innovations. Here the limits of acceptance are reached very quickly – or in other words: to be accepted, digitalization must be used intelligently.

What does ” digitization ” actually mean? It starts with networked end devices such as the refrigerator and ends again with air taxis. DeSight Studio – to make the path to digitization a little easier!

In general, digitization is expected to bring monetary added value: lower costs, higher output, business intelligence, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, robot banking, and, of course, the much-quoted automation. However, in daily life, both customers and employees (still) appreciate classic human-to-human communication, which differs in many ways from human-to-machine communication and interaction. Although technology is making enormous progress, empathy, emotion, and intuition can hardly be substituted by digital algorithms. Gestures, language, and intuition create trust, which forms the basis for business transactions. In the coming years, digitization will still be used as supportive assistance – but the next development step is imminent.

From this point of view, the question is not whether digitization should be used, but how much scanning can be used – this threshold value will shift more and more towards automation. As always, this stocktaking begins with an analysis of the company’s services and products. The question is in which market environment one moves, how much consultation is necessary, and what value customers place on human interaction. In the course of an application for real estate financing and the reallocation of earlier loans around the establishment of a company, we will attach great importance to the personal contact with the bank consultant. With the average Amazon order, on the other hand, we are even happy not to have any contact with the seller at all.

As is so often the case, the networking of man and machine – and digitization is nothing else – must take the middle course. Digitization must bring benefits, e.g., through:

Customer information can be found more easily and used by salespeople.

Acceleration of processes in companies, if all participants profit from it.

More intuitive and more comfortable use of new IT solutions.

Deep linking of electronic and individualized contacts to prospects and customers.

Digitalization is not an end in itself, but a means to an end. It is people who work with it and whose needs, wishes, and objectives must always be the focus of attention. This simple basic idea is, at the same time, a springboard for exciting further developments in the company’s sphere of activity.
