LSVT BIG Homework Helper Volume 1: Chapter 2 – Standing Maximal Daily Exercises

Chapter 2 features the exercises in their standard format. The first two exercises are in sitting, and the other five are done in standing without holding onto anything for support. This is for people who have good balance and can safely exercise in standing without holding onto anything.

Choose this chapter if you have mild balance difficulties. Jenny will do the first two exercises in sitting, and will hold onto a chair for all five standing exercises.

What can I do if my LSVT LOUD or LSVT BIG Homework Helper DVD is not working in my DVD player?

If your DVD appears to be functioning improperly, please complete the following steps prior to returning the DVD.

Step 1: Press the “Eject” or “Open” button on the DVD player disc tray to determine if it opens easily and does not appear jammed or hindered. If the disc tray appears to open slower than usual or fails to open, the disc may not sit flush in the tray or otherwise be seated properly. Use your hand to pull out the disc tray slowly if it does not open on its own and then reseat the disc. Close the disc tray and press “Play” on the DVD player again to see if reseating the disc in the tray corrects the “NO DISC” error.

Step 2: Power off the DVD player, then back on again. Attempt to play the DVD disc normally. Sometimes, an error in the DVD player firmware may prevent the device from reading discs properly. When this occurs, resetting the player often corrects “NO Disc” errors.

Step 3: Remove the disc from the DVD player. Use a lint-free cloth and some alcohol or water to clean the disc and remove any dust or smudges that may prevent the player from reading it properly. Reinsert the disc into the player and press “Play” to see if cleaning the disc fixes the “NO DISC” error.

This DVD does NOT replace physical or occupational therapy - rather it guides the viewer through exercises for the whole body. It was designed for people with Parkinson's to use as an adjunct to LSVT BIG treatment delivered by an LSVT BIG Certified Clinician, but it can also be used 1) Prior to treatment as an introduction to LSVT BIG therapy, 2) During treatment as a guidance for LSVT BIG homework exercises, and 3) After treatment as a motivation to practice and keep moving well for years to come! The DVD features standing and standing with support exercises based upon the LSVT BIG physical/occupational therapy treatment program. This video should only be used with approval and guidance of each person's LSVT BIG Certified physical or occupational therapist and physician. Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 PCs do not include a DVD media player. To play DVDs on your PC, you will need a DVD drive and the right app. You can browse the Windows Store to get apps that play DVDs, or if you've already bought the Windows Media Center Pro Pack or the Pro Pack Upgrade, then you will not need an alternate app. How to play DVDs with Windows Media Center: 1.
