Pokémon Go December 2022 Community Day, Timed Research guide

It’s more like a Community Weekend

Pokémon Go is ending its year as usual with a Community Weekend , bringing back Pokémon featured in Community Days from the past year. On Dec. 17 and Dec. 18 players will be able to find previous Community Day Pokémon in the wild, with a high chance to find them shiny.

From 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on both days , the Community Day Pokémon will be spawning in large numbers, but perks like doubled XP and Stardust will only be active from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. in your local time. In addition, specific Pokémon will spawn on each day from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., making it easier to find specific Pokémon you missed.

The shiny rate from 2-5 p.m. will be at the usual Community Day rate for the featured Pokémon, meaning it’s about a 1 in 25 chance to find a shiny. Just keep tapping the Pokémon you’re looking for a shiny of, and it’s bound to turn up. Make sure to use an Incense to boost your spawns as well.

Pokémon from the 2021 Community Day events will also be available in two km eggs and raids to help people catch up even more.

All of the Pokémon from both 2021 and 2022 will be able to learn their special Legacy moves when evolved during the event, with Ursaluna having a specific time slot.

Note that Ursaring will only evolve during a special full moon , which Niantic said will occur at 2 p.m. on Dec. 17 until 6 a.m. on Dec. 18. The moon will also occur from 2-9 p.m. on Dec. 18.

December Community Day bonuses and perks

From 2-5 p.m. on both days, the following bonuses will be active:

• Catch XP doubled
• Catch Stardust doubled
• Catch candy doubled (XL included)
• Hatch distance for eggs put into Incubators during the above time halved
• Lures last for three hours
• Incense last for three house

From 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on both days, you’ll also be able to do two special trades per day. Plus, Stardust costs for trading will be halved.

Pokémon GO 's July 2024 Community Day features Tynamo as the star of the show with boosted wild spawns and increased Shiny odds, but there's also a new ticketed Watts Up Special Research story to work your way through. With several tasks to take on and some great rewards on offer for finishing them all, it's definitely worth taking the time to complete this Special Research story.

The monthly Community Days are some of the most popular events in Pokémon GO . For just three hours, Trainers can focus on catching a specific Pokémon, getting enough Candy to evolve them, and teaching them a featured attack . The latest Community Day features Tynamo and takes place on July 21, 2024, from 2 PM to 5 PM . If you're wondering whether the Watts Up Special Research story is worth buying, here are all of the tasks and rewards included.

Shiny odds in Pokémon GO work very differently compared to the rates in the mainline series. There are a few factors that make them so different.

Pokémon GO Watts Up Special Research Tasks & Rewards

Tynamo, tynamo, and more tynamo encounters.

Most of this Special Research story revolves around catching or evolving Tynamo, with the rewards on offer including loads of useful items and even more encounters with the featured Pokémon. You can see all of the tasks and rewards in each step below:

Step 1 of 4

For completing this step you'll be rewarded with 3,000 Stardust, a Tynamo encounter, and one Incense .

Step 2 of 4

For completing this step you'll be rewarded with 4,500 XP, a Tynamo encounter, and one Egg Incubator .

Step 3 of 4

For completing this step you'll be rewarded with 4,500 Stardust, an Eelektrik encounter, and a Rocket Radar .

Step 4 of 4

For completing this step you'll be rewarded with 5,500 XP, an Eelektross encounter, and three Rare Candy .

Because this is a Special Research story and not Timed Research, you can complete these tasks at your own pace. There's no expiration date. Having said that, most of these tasks will be easier to complete when there are lots of Tynamo spawning in the wild, so it's a good idea to try and finish as many as you can during the July 2024 Community Day event.

Pokémon encounters that you get as rewards for completing Special Research tasks usually have better IVs than those found in the wild, so give them an appraisal and see if they're worth evolving.

How To Get The Watts Up Special Research Story

Head to the shop.

The main way to get a ticket for the July 2024 Community Day Special Research story is to purchase it from the in-game Shop . It costs $1 (£0.99) or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency. Once you've done this, you'll also need to log in to Pokémon GO during the Tynamo Community Day event . As a reminder, this runs from 2 PM to 5 PM on Sunday, July 21, 2024.

You can also gift a Special Research story to a friend from the in-game Shop. It was previously possible to get a free Special Research story by checking into a Community Ambassador-hosted event using the Campfire App , but there's no sign of that happening for July 2024's Community Day event in Pokémon GO .

All Axew Community Day Keeping Sharp Special Research tasks and rewards in Pokémon Go

One of the most highly anticipated Pokémon Go Community Day events in recent memory is finally here, with Axew sitting in the spotlight with a coveted new PvP attack waiting for fans to capture. 

Running from the usual 2pm to 5pm on June 10, with bonus raids following from 5pm to 10pm, players will encounter Axew more frequently in the wild. There is also an increased chance to find a Shiny Axew during the event too. 

Anyone who manages to evolve Axew fully into Hacorus, or catch one outright, will gain a powerful Dragon-type with the exclusive Fast Attack, Breaking Swipe. This is something the PvP community is excited about, as it makes Haxorus a great flex option in a few different areas of the Go Battle League.

Throughout the event, there will be new Field Research tasks available and a $1 Special Research ticket that players can pick up to access the “Keeping Sharp” research story. Pokemon GO Triumph Together Valor Collection Challenge Timed Research: Tasks and rewards

The Pokemon GO Triumph Together Valor Collection Challenge Timed Research is now live, with trainers worldwide completing the task of defeating 75,000,000 Team GO Rocket members. The provided questline has one step with two different tasks. Completing them will net players Stardust, XP, and an encounter with a Candela-themed Ponyta.

Triumph Together runs in Pokemon GO from Friday, August 23, 2024, at 3 pm PDT to Friday, August 30, 2024, at 3 pm PDT . The final challenge is the Mystic (Blue Team) Global Challenge, where trainers will be tasked with completing 35,000,000 Field Research tasks.

As August 2024 draws to an end, we inch towards the end of Season of Shared Skies. Recently, Niantic officially confirmed the next season’s title - Max Out , along with the Galarian Starter debut and Dynamax mechanic introduction teaser. The remaining few days of this month will likely see further teasers followed by official announcements with details about Max Out seasonal highlights, research, rotation, and more.

As part of the Shared Skies season in Pokemon GO , there will be a Goomy Community Day event available to all players on June 9. As part of this event, several Field Research Tasks can be completed to earn some beneficial rewards and a handy event bonus that you can make the most of. The Goomy Community Day event in Pokemon GO will take place on June 9, 2024 , and run between 2 PM - 5 PM local time . During these hours, Trainers will be able to make the most of several handy event bonuses to help them complete their Pokedex, succeed in a shiny hunt, hatch Eggs, and evolve captured specimens. As these bonuses will only be available during the limited hours of the day, they have been summarized below . By evaluating them all, you can decide on a strategy that will allow you to best utilize them to your advantage.

Max Out , the sixteenth Pokémon Go season, sees the debut of both Dynamax Pokémon and - finally - more Gen 8 Pokémon to the game!

So make sure you're out and about during the Season of Max Out to catch Pokémon like Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble as Gen 8 invades Pokémon Go . Then keep an eye on the new Power Spot locations to ensure you can battle every Dynamax Pokémon as well. Don't forget about the new Special Research quests either!

Max Out has a start time of Tuesday 3rd September at 10am (local time) and will end on Wednesday 3rd December at 10am (local time) . Season 20 of the Go Battle League will be running throughout this time period too, obtaining the three leagues and a variety of special cups.

This release date marks a change from the traditional Pokémon Go season start, which usually occurs on the first day of a month. This is mostly likely because September 1st falls on a Sunday this year - just make sure you take this change into account when planning your Pokémon Go activities!

Max Out bonuses in Pokémon Go

The season-long bonuses for Max Out begin with three XP based ones - you'll receive increased XP for meeting the seven-day PokéStop spin and Pokémon catch streaks, along with increased XP from increasing your Friendship Level with a player. That last one is perfect for anyone who will reach the Best Friend level during Max Out!

There are also two trading based bonuses, seeing everyone receive an additional candy from trading Pokémon and trainers who are Level 31 or higher receiving one guaranteed Candy XL when trading.

Finally from Tuesday 3rd September to Wednesday 3rd December, you'll be able to earn the following Pokémon from Research Breakthroughs : Galarian Weezing, Galarian Mr. Mime, Excadrill, Scraggy, Furfrou and Jangmo-o.

The big release of Max Out, as the name suggests, is the release of Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go on Tuesday 10th September at 10am (local time). While the details are yet to be fully confirmed at the time of writing, we do know that locations called Power Spots will begin to appear on the map. It's here where you'll battle Dynamax Pokémon in Max Battles and collect Max Particles. (Wonder what these will be used for, such suspiciously like Mega Energy...)

The official Pokémon Go blog makes it sound like these Power Spots will actually begin appearing before the proper release of Dynamax Pokémon; giving you the chance to start collecting Max Particles before your first Max Batte!

What we do know is that Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Skwovet and Wooloo will be making their Dynamax form debut in one-star Max Battles on Tuesday 10th September.

Alongside Dynamax Pokémon, Max Out sees the first proper release of Gen 8 in Pokémon Go! While we've seen some Gen 8 Pokémon in the past, such as Wooloo, Galarian forms and their evolutions like Sirfetch'd , this generation's release has been a slow one. In fact, the last Gen 8 Pokémon to debut in Pokémon Go was Regieleki back in April 2023. Soon, however, you'll be able to catch Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble and Dreepy in Pokémon Go! Players in the United Kingdom will also be able to catch the regionally exclusive Stonjourner too! Hopefully, as Max Out continues, we'll see more Gen 8 Pokémon arrive in Pokémon Go.

To celebrate this release, a new Special Research quest will be released on Tuesday 3rd September where you'll have to pick one of the Galar starter Pokémon - Grookey, Scorbunny or Sobble. As you can probably guess, this means we're dealing with a branching quest so make your choice wisely! Your choice will also see the background of your Postcard Book change for the rest of Max Out, which is a nice little bonus. (Though I would prefer a dedicated sticker book Niantic ...)

With these overarching season themes out of the way, let's take a look at the first events running throughout Max Out.

Here's a rundown down of all the confirmed events for Max Out so far:

• GO All Out - Tuesday 3rd September to Tuesday 10th September
• Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta Community Day - Saturday 14th September
• GO Big - Tuesday 10th September to Sunday 15th September
• October Community Day - Saturday 5th September
• November Community Day - Sunday 10th November

As you can see, a number of the Community Days are still waiting to have their spotlighted Pokémon announced. You'll also be able to partake in Season 20 of the Go Battle League during this season.

Max Out begins with GO All Out - running from Tuesday 3rd September at 10am (local time) to Tuesday 10th September at 10am (local time) . This event marks the release of Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble, Dreepy, all of their evolutions and Stonjourner for UK players. Alongside this, you'll be able to start the Special Research quest we mentioned above, complete event-exclusive field research tasks, Collection Challenges and compete in PokéStop Showcases. There will also be double XP bonuses for catching and evolving Pokémon running through this event.

Next up is the GO Big event from Tuesday 10th September at 10am (local time) to Sunday 15th September at 10am (local time) . As mentioned, this event will see the one-star Max Battle debut for Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Skwovet and Wooloo. You'll also be able to complete another Special Research quest to earn Max Particles and a new avatar item, the Dynamax Band. There will also be event-exclusive research tasks, Collection Challenges, a double PokéStop spin XP bonus and a double Max Battle win XP bonus.

PokéStop Showcases will also run from Monday to Wednesday, then Saturday to Sunday, during Max Out.

Finally, you'll be able to collect new stickers from spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts or simply from purchasing them within the in-game shop.

The Max Out Season is nearly here! Don't forget to try out Routes , Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon , fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases .

Max Out brings changes to which Pokémon spawn in the northern and southern hemispheres, including which creatures appear in the Pokémon Go biomes:

This includes a number of changes to the egg pools , but it should be noted that these lists are incomplete. Certain in-game events also change the egg pools for a limited time.

Thanks to the Gift Exchange on Routes , there's also two different pools for 7km eggs, so, depending on which Pokémon you want, it's worth checking whether you need a 7km egg from opening a Gift from a friend or obtaining it via the Gift Exchange.

Originally introduced in December 2021, seasons are in-game periods of time which last for three months and tie together various events with a theme. During this time, a selection of new features and quality of life changes can also be added to Pokémon Go.

This includes:

• Changes to how Pokémon spawn season-to-season, which may see some creatures appearing more regularly or become rarer in the wild for limited time periods.
• Changes to egg pools and raids .
• Northern and southern hemisphere-specific spawning, coinciding with the real world season themselves.
• Highlight specific Mega Evolutions , giving them a power boost throughout the season.
• Different Deerling forms .
• A new Go Battle League season, which will be the same length as the season itself.
• XP boosts for completing specific activities, such as five-star raids for example.
• Introduce other general quality of life improvements.
• A range of in-game events.
• New Pokémon.
• Occasionally, new features and season long research quests.

Pokemon Go Goomy Community Day Special Research tasks & rewards

Here’s a look at the special challenge that awaits Pokemon Go players on June 9, 2024, in the form of the Goomy Community Day Special Research.

The June 2024 Community Day focuses on Goomy, which can evolve into Goodra, one of the more powerful Dragon-type Pokemon in all of Pokemon Go. And those who evolve a Sliggoo into Goodra during or up to five hours after the event can add Thunder Punch to its moveset.

On top of that and increased spawn rates for Goomy, a new event-exclusive Special Research challenge will be a part of the festivities.

How to complete the Goomy Community Day Special Research
