New Principal Appointed at Presentation Tralee
The Board of Management would like to announce the appointment of Ms. Mairéad Finucane as the new Principal of Presentation Tralee. She follows on from Ms. Mary Kennelly, who recently retired from the post, and Ms. Chrissie Kelly. Originally from Kilflynn, Mairéad is a former student of Moyderwell Secondary School. Mairéad has, for the past seventeen years, been working with the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. Mairéad graduated from St. Catherine’s College, Sion Hill, Dublin (Trinity College) with a B. ED in Home Economics and Religious Education in 2001. She graduated from the University of Limerick with a Master’s in Education (M. Ed) in 2013 and a Postgraduate Diploma in School Leadership (PDSL) in 2022. During her career to date, Ms. Finucane has been an Assistant Principal and Teacher of Home Economics and Religious Education at Vocational School Abbeyfeale/ Coláiste Íde agus Iosef from 2005-2019 and Coláiste Chiaráin, Croom from 2019-2023. She has also worked as an Advising Examiner with the State Examinations Commission (SEC) and as a Lecturer with Mary Immaculate College (U.L) and St. Angela’s College Sligo (NUIG). Mairéad said of her appointment, “I am very humbled, honoured, and excited to be appointed to the position of Principal of Presentation Tralee. I look forward to continuing the great work and building on the proud tradition of Presentation Tralee. I look forward to meeting and working with all the students, staff, parents/guardians, the Board of Management, the Parents Association, and all groups that are part of school life in Presentation Tralee. Mairéad takes up her appointment on Monday, 16th January.

The aim of the website is to give you information about the school, the curriculum and the activities we have on offer.
We in Sacred Heart Primary School seek to cherish and challenge children in a safe, secure and attractive learning environment. We are fortunate to have a dedicated and supportive Board of Management and Parents’ Association in our school. We have a highly committed staff, who give of their best to enable our children to achieve their full potential in work, play and spiritual development.

Our history.
Sacred Heart Primary School is situated on the grounds of the Presentation Sister’s Convent and St. John’s church on Castle Street, Tralee. The Presentation order have been delivering quality education in Tralee for over 200 years (see Sacred Heart Primary School- A Brief History ). The school is comprised of the junior building: a listed building dating from the 1930s, as well as the senior building: built in the 1960s. The school has an enrolment of 280 pupils in 12 mainstream classes. There is a teaching staff of 18 and an administrative principal, along with 3 special needs assistants.
The campus incorporates two buildings, two school yards with basketball courts, a school halla with stage, a library, a music room, a computer lab, a sensory room, a language/ Aistear room for junior classes, a cookery/parent’s room, a soft outdoor play area, as well as an outdoor classroom/creative space. The secretary’s office and principal’s office are located in the junior building on the left as you enter through Green lane (signposted ‘ Reception ’).
The school is located right at the heart of Tralee and is walking distance from the town park, library, town centre and other amenities. There is ease of access through St. John’s church entrance and Green Lane. A one-way system (enter by St. John’s church) operates from 8 am to 9 am and 2 pm to 3 pm on school days. There is onsite parking in front of the halla .
